Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Keeping this short: Good food, haven't been disappointed yet Well-sized menu with plenty of variety. Nicely decorated and clean restaurant, which is always appreciated. Lastly, service is on the slow side, and has been on all occasions that I've been there, regardless of how busy they are. Is it worth returning to? For me, yes.

Our server Maria was amazing. She was extremely helpful and kind. Everything you'd want a server to be. The decor and ambience was perfect. It was a beautiful establishment. Unfortunately, the food was not good at all. The group I was with had a carne asada, enchiladas de mole, crepas de tinga and combo #1 which included a tamal, taco, and enchilada. The presentation of the food was nothing impressive and the flavor of all of these dishes was bland. The rice was tasteless, the flour tortillas used were not authentic to the Mexican dishes. Sadly, we didn't enjoy the food. So much so, that I didn't want to take any of my leftovers. Being Mexican and loving Mexican food, I guess I expected an authentic Mexican meal. Although this was not to my standards in sure others based on the reviews loved it. Just wanted to share an honest review from a person that enjoys Authentic Mexican food.

Excellent Mexican food. We got the tacos: steak, chicken and shrimp. They were to die for!!! Loved their margaritas too!!

We used to love Cine when it opened...eclectic Mexican food with wonderful flavors in a lovely environment. It has gone downhill fast. A little over a year ago after we noticed that the menu had changed, we spoke to our awesome server Jen and she commented that people in the neighborhood wanted more "authentic" Mexican fare (aren't there dozens of these restaurants in the western burbs? I guess no one wants to drive a little farther to get it). So they started offering taco/burrito platter type dishes which is fine, but I loved that this place had been a more upscale version of what you can get everywhere else. The chips even tasted worse. So after having been away for a few months, we tried it again last night and we were even more disappointed than before. My husband got a burrito which tasted eerily like Taco Bell. To top it off, they served it with french fries. What about some rice and beans if you're trying for more "authentic?" The once incredible margaritas (made with their fresh-squeezed lime juice) tasted like the sugar laden margaritas made with the generic mix you buy at the grocery store. The pork tamale barely had any pork in it. My salmon was the only tasty dish but I couldn't eat the sauce it was in because it was way too spicy. I hate having to write such a poor review but they really have turned a fabulous restaurant into a deficient one.

Best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. We went on a Saturday night and didn't have to wait, but it's best to make reservations if you want a nice booth. They have valet service as well. Free wifi if you ask server for password. Staff is very friendly and helpful to provide suggestions. Large menu- I ordered sangria to start which was very refreshing. We also got the spicy pomegranate margarita on the rocks which was delicious but definitely spicy. Would have been nice with mango or something to balance it. Table comes with homemade crispy chips and mild salsa. They can make guacamole at your table for $12. We ordered large side for $9 and it was fine but I like it mild. We got chicken fajitas and cine steak- both amazing. Flank steak had poblano crema and it had a warm pepper flavor but not to spicy. Both come with rice and beans. Fajitas came with lettuce, sour cream, and tomatoes but very small portion. For dessert you can get free churros for checking in! We also got the tres leches cake which is the best! Too small portion in my opinion but it was so soft and full of flavor. Classy and modern ambience. Definite perfect date night if you're craving Mexican food.

Excellent food, great service. We sat outside and had a wonderful meal. The Chicken Alambre was wonderful.
(4)Mandy A.
What is there not to like? Service is great. Food is wonderful. And the desserts were excellent. George was our server and he was very nice and helpful. My favorite restaurant in the area.
(5)Sara T.
Where to begin....... Food was terrible. Service was even worse. I'm not even sure I can call it service when almost no one came by the entire 2 hours we were there. We hardly ever saw a single waiter even though I noticed maybe 10-15 of them existed while walking back to the restroom. Not quite sure what they're up to, but it's certainly not waiting on tables. Also the food somehow took about 20-30 minutes even though no one else was ordering and it should be fast to cook up tacos and a burrito bowl. My burrito bowl fell short of even chipotle, and at twice the price. How they feel they can charge a premium for the worst Mexican food ever I'll never know ($12 for a burrito bowl). They serve it up with a weird hostile attitude, to boot. You know that "the emperor's new clothes" story? I feel like the emperor right after he figures out he's naked. Got swindled fa sho. I WANT MY TIME AND MONEY BACK!!
(2)Russ D.
Excellent food and margaritas! Friendly service; a nice outdoor dining experience. Daniel was a very attentive and friendly server.

This was second visit to CiNe. Server brought our drink order after we had finished our appetizers. 15-20 minute wait for a pitcher of Margaritas, two glasses of wine and a soda?!?! Previous visit we ordered table side guacamole this time we ordered two orders of pre made stuff. Pre made was much less flavorful and half the portion size Of the table side version. The queso fundido was good. The entrees were ok....we had a party of eight I ordered a combo with stuffed chicken breast and a chile relleno. Chile was barely warm , chicken was in small over cooked pieces. Meh. Bleh. My wife's steak tampaquena was a better choice steak was pretty good but the chile was not made fresh either. The cheese was not even warm. Bummer. My Mom had red snapper and was also disappointed. Server brought coffee after we were halfway through dessert. Helllloooo.....let's have the coffee before the dessert is delivered. Service was slow even with a lot of servers and not a full restaurant tonight either. Kinda of bummed I picked this restaurant for my Birthday dinner. My first visit was much better than this one.
(2)Karen P.
I was between 3 and 4 stars...but went with 3 because they really should have their act together by now. Let me start by saying the food is good, BUT for the prices they charge, it should be great. They have the look, feel, and location for an upscale restaurant, but the food is lacking. Service is always slow here...and last night was no different. I find myself choosing Cafe Salsa more and more when I want restaurant quality Mexican food. Also, it's really loud inside, the sound tends to bounce off the walls. The outside "alley" seating is charming and if the weather cooperates is a better choice if you want to have a conversation with the people you are with.
(3)Mandie L.
I ordered the combo platter that included a taco, enchillada and tamale. The chips, salsa and guac were all great. The tamale and enchillada were just ok. I enjoyed my strawberry margarita but not my $40 bill for one dinner and one drink!
(3)Kevin K.
I have been to Cine multiple times, and it never fails to impress! the guac--wow. It has an a delectable traditional "guac" taste; however, it incorporates an original myriad of flavors with the tomatoes and spices that are integrated. Additionally, the main course (fish tacos) raise the bar for the other fish tacos of hinsdale. This is the place to be, you won't regret it!
(5)Natalia C.
Nice decor, beautiful dishes, and tasty food. I'm a bit of a Mexican food snob and it didn't quite fulfill my needs, but it was a lovely lunch with good staff and an attentive waitress. I would go again.
(3)Dra C.
Not horrible buuuut... Cine is simply a forgettable experience. I first tried cine out after they had just opened. I have been a half dozen times since and used to be that they had really creative food and most importantly innovative cocktails. Now the food has become pretty typical tex mex fair with your typical -insert any fruit flavor- margarita menu. There's just nothing special. Combo plates? Is this cine or Panda Express?
(2)John S.
I usually write longer more in-depth reviews but seriously, Cine is worth much of my time. Cine took over the space that used to be the Hinsdale movie theater. It would have been amazing clever had they made seating in what used to be the beautiful interior of the actual 1925 movie house. Instead they only utilized the front/lobby portion of the building. Decently decorated. That said, beware of any restaurant that refuses to list their price online when you click on the menu tab. Invariably that means $$$$. Yes, they use elite tequilas, squeeze their own juices and make their own sour mix. Good - fine. It still doesn't justify $13-$18 for a four ounce drink. Suffice it say that the food is - sincerely - just Mexican fare. NOT expensive to make nor innovative in any way. I've had much better - much cheaper. Our bill for four people, two of whom had 2 margaritas each and we had one drink a piece was $225 before tip - and believe me, we really didn't eat a lot. Nothing extraordinary. I was born in Hinsdale. We were a working class family surrounded by wealthy neighbors. I really like my home town but just because there is preponderance of multi-million dollar homes doesn't mean the residents are stupid enough to pay for this mediocre fare. They didn't get rich by wasting their money. Don't waste yours.
(1)Kelly C.
Easily sat for 10 minutes before we were acknowledged. Chips and salsa are fab. Chips came out warm. Perfection. The main entrees (quesadillas and steak tacos) were average. They did serve us flan for dessert even though it wasn't on the menu. It was super delish. The churros were dry, but the flavor was good. Will come back for appetizers and dessert, but not for anything else. Service - 3 stars Appetizers and dessert - 5 stars Main Entrees - 3 stars
(3)Kevin D.
Great spot for a Saturday lunch. Sat outside and enjoyed the all you can eat taco special. Our favorites were the chicken, pastor, vegetarian, and fish. Margaritas were good... Spicy pomegranate had a nice kick to it.
(5)T M.
Try the chips and salsa. Personally I found the service below average, however it appears they need more staff and the waiter was doing his best with 10 tables. I had the chicken fajitas ($16) and they were what you'd expect. Next time I plan to try one of the specials, which looked good. Overall we had a great time... The decor is unique and interesting.

Oh Cine, I so want our relationship to work, and if you're willing to refine a few things, it absolutely could. Please, lend an ear... First, I'll mention the things this restaurant has going for it. It's in Hinsdale (my town - I love a place we can walk to). It offers affordable, fun cuisine - a welcome change from weekday mac and cheese and spaghetti (mother of a toddler here). The atmosphere is inviting, warm, and colorful. Plus, any place giving free chips and salsa gets big-time brownie points with me. So what are the issues? Read on... First and foremost, customer service is lacking so greatly it's embarrassing. Meaning, I've brought visiting friends and family from out of town and was embarrassed (on behalf of Chicagoland) by the way we were - or weren't - treated. This has happened multiple times! Often, the person checking-in patrons is rude and unfriendly. Managerial staff: hire a sweet, courteous person for this position, and drive home the point of how important it is to be so! This would not be difficult. Next, once we're seated, it takes a ridiculous amount of time for the waiter to come, bring chips (often have to ask), get drinks, etc. Most times our young daughter is with us. As a parent, it means SO much to us when our server brings a coloring sheet and gets her order in right away...this happens at most restaurants, since it's imperative to their business that staff understand kids' needs. But not at Cine, we're often waiting 20 minutes to order, and another 20+ for our food, and that's a boatload of time for a two-year-old. One time we were asked if she needed a high chair, we said yes, and he never brought it! When we flagged him down to ask for it again, we got an, "Oh sorry, I forgot". I understand it's our choice to bring our daughter, but she does incredibly well at family friendly restaurants, and in return they get our business. We'd love for the same to be true of Cine. Finally, it seems the attitudes of the staff are also not kind...almost like they're annoyed with the jobs they have. So strange! Again, I believe ALL of this is fixable: train your staff in customer service, be quick and efficient when seating and placing orders, and be observant to your customers' needs. BAM! Your numbers will go up, and repeat customers will increase. I'll be the first in line! Stepping off my soapbox (thanks for listening), we really do love the food. It's tasty, fresh, and offers great, unique combinations of flavors. Delicious! We've tried most of the tacos, salads, and the steak burrito. This is why we keep returning, hoping for a better customer service experience each time. Fingers crossed that, Cine, that you continue to improve in the aforementioned areas. If so, I'd be happy to come back and give a five star review!

Having lived in Hinsdale for years, I have a good idea of what the downtown Hinsdale dinner spots typically have to offer. Most of the restaurants are simply overpriced with uninspired, poor quality food. They exist to be trendy, and have no substance beyond that. CiNe is a welcome change. The food is absolutely delicious, the service warm and attentive, and the menu full of interesting dishes to explore. I try something new each visit, and I'm never disappointed. Jorge is super energetic and friendly. The desserts are great. Try any of the tacos, the mole chicken, or the CiNe margarita. If you're in the southwest suburbs and looking for slightly upscale, satisfying Mexican food, check it out.
(5)Shirley J.
Although the restaurant decor was nice, the service and food could have been better. The service was pretty slow because they had an all-in-one person (waiter, host and bartender) serving five separate tables at the same time. To make up for the slowness, we did get complimentary chips and guac/salsa. That was a plus. I ordered three steak tacos off the lunch menu for $10. Now, I understand lunch portions are small, but I didn't realize that lunch portion sizes applied to tacos too. I'm not kidding, but the tacos were the most expensive I've encountered and the smallest sizes I've ever seen. The tortilla was the size of a person's palm. Not only that, the steak was dry too. I would pass on this one.

I absolutely LOVE CiNE. I know I can come here for any occasion..from a date night where I can have a refined four course meal with chef specials, or a girls night out at the bar area with some great cocktails at apps, CiNE has a menu that can suit the kind of night you want to have. The CiNE steak is to die for! A huge, tender skirt steak with melted cheese, mushrooms and peppers, an enchilada and rice/beans. It is such great value! The bartender, Luis, is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. If you've never tried tequila but would like to, you should really start here. They have over 40 different tequilas and mezcals. Don't want to commit to just one? Ask for a sampling flight. P.s. They have avocado fries that are an "off the menu" item. Make sure to ask your server for them, they are unbelievable!!
(5)Johnny A.
Our favorite was the trio of ceviche & virgin mojito. I loved the salmon ceviche. The fish tacos had delicious batter & Combo #2 was generously portioned and yummy. I look forward to eating there again. I had a realy hard time choosing what to order. All prices seemed right on to me. Our service was perfect & the atmosphere is the icing on the cake. We loved the outdoor seating.
(5)Joseph H.
CiNe has excellent service, well-trained servers who understand the Mexican cuisine. The food is good and the variety of tequillas cannot be matched. We did not have a reservation but we were seated promptly without waiting. I love the fresh made-to-order guacamole. Overall, a very good place.
(4)Angela W.
I love this place! The fire-roasted salsa is AMAZING!! I just can't get enough of it! We started with the seafood ceviche...great! Moved on to the Skirt Steak tacos...so yummy!! Love the chunks of cheese, the cilantro, the steak...it's all so delicious. Here's my recommendation to them...stop watering down the sangria. Your sangria is great...leave it alone. The last 2 times I've been in there, the sangria as been weak. Definitely would go back. Atmosphere is unique & inspiring.
(4)Chris F.
Not a great experience. Went at 430pm when it was empty on a Saturday. Took 15 minutes to get drinks. When asked if we wanted guac and said no thank you the waiter still brought it out told him we didn't order it so he took it back. Asked for no beans extra rice couldn't get that one right. Used a coupon for free churro and asked for check, got charged for churro had to get taken off. Overpriced and below average food.
(1)Jenn M.
Great Service! Stephanie was attentive and friendly, I came with 3 kids and she did everything needed to make the trip great for all! Food was fresh and fabulous and the Margarita could not have been fresher! I will be back soon, especially for their $5 CiNe Margaritas on Weds!
(4)Jodi C.
I just had dinner at Cine tonight with two friends. I would have rated it higher if it had not been for the unprofessional things they did at the end of our meal. The food was good. Guac was great, prickly pear margarita was amazing and the entrees were good. We also thought our waitress did a good job. They only problem was that a little before 9:00pm they turned off the music and started their obvious routine of closing up. The website states that they are open until 10:00. Not sure why they were in such a hurry to get rid of us but they got rid of alright...maybe for good.

Looking for a unique dining opportunity for my birthday, my companion and I chose CiNe (the name means what...?) as something new. Overall, it was worth the try. We started with a trio of empanadas (pork, veggie and beef), which gladly the waiter identified because they looked identical. They were all tasty, if not terribly self-identifying. The pastry was flaky but not greasy. Ultimately I preferred the beef filling. The sprinkle of cheese offset it nicely. We went on to the tacos; an order is four, and you can split it 2 and 2 if you want flavor-wise. I went for the pastor and carnitas, and he chose the pastor and veggie. I definitely preferred the pastor, with its pineapple tang and spicy hit from the jalapeno. The carnitas was a little too one-note, and made me wish that I hadn't chosen two pork options (not that it was bad). I had a bite of his veggie but wasn't thrilled with the potato croquette that forms the substantial base of the taco. For dessert he had the special: a guava tamale, which he really liked; I had a bite, but since I do not care for tamales it just was not the dessert for me -- even with the guava it was too bland, and the grit of the cornmeal put me off. I enjoyed the tres leches cake I ordered, though it was not the best execution I had ever had. I had also chosen a margarita, which was very good -- light but with an enjoyable twang of citrus; oddly, it was only salted on one side? Service was swift and smooth -- so swift that we weren't done with our appetizers when the food arrived and they were trying to take the dish, which also happened at the end of the meal...the place wasn't full; what's the hurry? At any rate, this was an enjoyable example of nouveau Mexican. It's a ways from me and I'm not sure I'd make the trek specially to visit, but if I was in the area I might go again.
(3)Mary Pam P.
Blech.....have tried it 3 times now and am not impressed. While it is a pretty space the service has been poor each time, the food below average ( although guacamole is good) and the cocktails minuscule.
(2)Laur G.
I have been to Cine twice now and both times the food was pretty good but the service was extremely slow. Last night we were there and the restaurant was half empty. It took quite a long time to get our drinks and we had to flag down our waiter a couple of times. The food is good, but not good enough to make up for the service. Maybe I will be back in the summer to sit on the patio
(3)Katherine C.
Our server was the best and the food was delicious. Fresh guacamole made table side, delicious ceviche and steak and shrimp fajitas. They have tv's upfront so you can watch the game, too. We'll definitely be back soon!
(5)Downtown B.
Great tacos with a good variety and a solid Margarita (all natural none of that syrup). I think of this place as a little bit "modern Mexican-American". Don't come in looking for a huge plate of cheesy nachos or a honking burrito. The portions are good and the food has fresh, poppin flavors. Overall, a solid place for dinner or lunch.
(4)Don H.
We like the food and atmosphere here very much. But on our latest visit two items, the tostadas and the side of beans had one price on the menu, but then rung up for a higher price when we received our bill. At worst that means every guest who does not notice is being over charged. The manager corrected our bill but only after a lengthy wait. My advice: check your bill carefully.
(2)Calvin D.
Spur of the moment, we decided to go to Cine' on Valentine's Day. It was a terrific choice! We started with margaritas, my wife getting a classic one and mine was spicy tamarind . It was delicious! We followed with ceviche and then for dinner she had a scrimp dish and I had carne assada. Both were very good. I especially liked the mole sauce served as part of the carne assada. Also, our waiter did an excellent job explaining the contents of the each dinner and was very attentive throughout our meal.
(5)Kristen J.
I am really happy that I chose to eat here before reading the yelp reviews! I met a friend (both of us just relocated here from San Diego, so we've eaten a lot of tacos!) in the area and we decided to eat here after walking past a few times. It was absolutely delicious! I had the fried fish taco, a carnitas taco, and a steak taco. Each one was better than the one before. I will be back!
(4)mary ann B.
CiNe is fun and and has a fresh twist on Mexican dishes. The shrimp ceviche was delicious. The chicken tostadas were a little spicing but very good. I enjoyed the fried guacamole and the dipping sauce. Service was good and the bartenders were very attentive. I would definitely go back. I liked seeing the outdoor cafe on the side. Wish it was warmer out to sit outside. Well worth trying out. White sangria was very good, lots of fruit.

I'm in LOVE with CiNe restaurant. CiNe has the perfect food & the flavor is AMAZING. Let me talk about the drinks they are on point my #1 favorite drink is Avion & Patron Roca Margarita. I been to many other restaurants and there is no mexican restaurant just like CiNe. The servers are great and very knowledgeable & also the hostess . THANKS SO MUCH CiNe for the great experience in your restaurant you guys are the BEST!
(5)Bill C.
My wife and I just had their fixed price meal for two - margaritas, appetizer, entree, and desert - and every course was fantastic. Margaritas were smooth and actually unique for a house drink. The quesadillas, steak, red snapper, tres leche cake and apple pastry for dessert were all deliciously fresh, unique in ingredients and sauces, and were some of the best Mexican food we've ever had. They have a huge menu of food and drinks. The service from Jennifer our server was very attentive and she was very helpful making recommendations. Restaurant is in the heart of downtown Hinsdale with plenty of parking. It looks on the outside like an old movie theater that has been beautifully decorated inside - booths and tables, unusual photographs on the painted brick walls - just an overall soothing atmosphere. We plan on definitely going back.
(5)Delia H.
Went to CiNe a couple days ago with my girlfriends, and must say we came out satisfied. Loved the outside architecture of the place. We were greeted by the hostess and promptly taken to our seats. The waiter was super friendly and even gave us suggestions on what was his favorite dish on the menu. We ate guac chips and salsa and the guacamole was great. Perfect amount of flavor. We also ordered the Aguachile ceviche along with the Tinga Tostaditas. The only complaint I have with those is, "I want more!" :) For entrees we just shared the tacos. They were good I just wish they would be a bit warmer when brought out. For dessert we had the vanilla flan, chocolate taco, and tres leches cake. The first two were magnificent, the Tres leches cake was too dry so we had to send it back :/ All in all, it's an adorable place to catch dinner with the girls or come on a date with. Can't wait to go back!
(4)Ryan C.
Coming from Oklahoma its always good to find a restaurant that makes good tex-mex and authentic Mexican food. The ambiance is casual, and they have a great outdoor area. Compared to some of the other Mexican restaurants in the area they are pricier, but with that price comes better food.
(4)Kira S.
I'm giving Cine a .5 for service and a 4 for food. Overall experience evens out to a 2 somehow... Pros: I really enjoyed the pineapple margarita which was sweet yet smokey from the mezcal in it. The chicken enchiladas with salsa verde were also very good. Cons: We sat at the bar and service was insanely slow despite the fact that the restaurant was only about 15% full. We had to ask for our chips and guac (count 'em) 5 TIMES. When they still didn't arrive before our entree we had to go back to the hostess stand and ask her to get them for us. We were also not given utensils and had to find the server stand and get them ourselves. Did I mention I got the wrong order? They were able to correct it in about 5 minutes but still worth noting. If I lived closer I might go back and give table service a try, but wouldn't recommend it to friends.
(2)Rick C.
What a disappointment, $14 for 3 tacos that were small, not how I ordered and the meat was dry and flavorless. We also ordered quesadilla's and we each had one bite and quit. Too many great Mexican restaurant's in the area for this place to last. I very rarely give 1 star but that's all I could give to Cine.
(1)John T.
The food here isn't good. I wish it was but it is just so bland. We went last night and nothing I ate had any flavor. I had the Combo #1 (very bland) and the Lobster Croquettes (couldn't find or taste any lobster). My wife had three tacos and only ate one. I tried her other two and they were very blah. This was our second time here. I will give it one more chance.
(2)David C.
Wanted to like it but the food was below average. Nothing seems to be cooked to order. All meat tacos were dry and tuff. Service was OK. Food was not
(3)Lola J.
I'll keep this review short and sweet. I went to CiNe with a small group from work for our Christmas party. Everyone raved about the hand shaken margaritas, though I went with the CiNe cider. Multiple appetizers were ordered so we could try a little bit of everything and when our dinner orders came out we all tried a little bit of everyone's food. Not one person had a complaint about the apps or entrees! Everything was delicious. The desserts were good as well, though not the stars. A few people mentioned that they thought the tres leches was a bit dry, though another said theirs was not. Our server, Jennifer (I believe), was very helpful and knowledgeable about the food being offered and very attentive when needed. The decor and atmosphere was great as well. If I lived closer I would definitely be back.

CiNe. Wondering about that name? Well just take a look around if your Spanish is not up to snuff. CiNe is for cinema- perfectly apropos given the location of the newest addition to the Hinsdale eating scene is located in the old historic theater. Enter on 1st street (plenty of street parking or there is a lot across the street or in behind) under the old marquee area. Inside- you may be surprised, as I was, as to how large the space is. A bar runs the length of the front room on the right hand side with plenty of high tops on the left. And as you proceed toward the back the eating areas get more intimate and there is even a "party room" in the back that will seat 50 of your closest friends for dinner or 70 standing for a cocktail party. But back to the real star- the food! We ordered a wide range of the menu as is normally the case when I check out a new place. Our server, Diana, was just a delight! It was kind of like being waited on by a new friend as she was quick with suggestions of her favorites, showed us proudly around the space and even shared some personal stories that had us laughing at the table! Nicely done! We started with the salsa and guacamole. The quac was delicious with big chunks of avocado and a creamy texture that had us both reaching for more chips. As for entrees- we tried three of them- the enchiladas, which were lighter than expected as they were done with a crepe base, the steak, plated with avocado creme, onions and some tortilla chips and the chille rellano- which was stuffed with cheese and served in a wonderful sauce. Both were served with a small side of rice, peas and carrots which had the creamy consistency of a risotto. And for dessert- the churros were a great sweet choice- with the chocolate dipping sauce the perfect complement. And before I end- just a minute on the drinks. They have a cocktail list so I ordered one of their signature margaritas. This was a great choice as it was light (almost fizzy)- I kept looking at the list to see if they put carbonated something in it but that was not the case. Just a premium tequila that I really liked! CiNe is owned by the same people who brought Nabuki and Il Poggiolo to Hinsdale which is great. Hinsdale has been devoid of decent restaurants for many years but now there are reasons to "eat local". Dinner for two with drinks ran about $100 which is probably more than you might expect to pay for Mexican but you can't go into CiNe thinking cheap tacos and burritos. Rather- think of it as a nice evening out with upscale Mexican food served by some of the nicest servers around!

Yum! Having delicious mexican food this close to my work is going to be extremely dangerous! We had the opportunity to visit CiNe last week for their soft opening, and left full, happy, and very impressed. The decor is beautiful, when you walk in, you feel like you are downtown. The restaurant itself is actually pretty big, don't let the entrance area fool you! I'm a huge fan of margaritas, but only the kind that isn't made with any kind of mix - and CiNe makes a spectacular classic margarita. You can tell it's made with quality ingredients ( i may have had 5 or 6 and woke up with no hangover!), it has just the right amount of sweetness, ans has a kick without being too strong. I highly recommend trying this one out! The basic guacamole is amazing - it has great flavor and comes with large chunks of avocado in it, which i love! We tried out a few different things on the menu, all of which were perfection. I have been dying to go back since we left! We had: -steak and chorizo tacos -beef empanadas -tostaditas -pastor tacos (worth it for the pineapple salsa alone!) -and of course, churros The empanadas really stood out to me, the combination of the savory beef with a little bit of spice, and the delicate, buttery puff pastry was just wonderful. When I go back, I really want to try the carne asada and the fajitas. This is a great local place for a tapas style meal, with very reasonable prices to boot. If I start not coming home after work, it's because I'm at the CiNe bar drinking margaritas and eating guacamole :) UPDATE: the carnitas quesadillas are a MUST HAVE. Everyone I know that has tried them is totally addicted!

Wow! I love all sorts of Mexican and Latin food and this place is one of my new favorite restaurants. Can't wait to return with our kids - kids menu looked great. We went with another couple and had some apps and then some tacos. Guac was great. Tempura fried goat cheese was very tasty - but should come with a couple more pieces of bread for dipping. Ceviche was just so-so, mostly veg, not much fish, and the little jar it came in kept tipping over. Tacos were excellent. Al pastor was our fave but chicken and carnitas were also great. The whole menu looked amazing, can't wait to go back and try more. Drinks were very tasty too! Oh and our server was awesome, recommended her favorites and the most popular items. Downtown quality fancy Mexican food, in the 'burbs! I am in love!

I was there for a Christmas party and I thought the service was really good, but again they knew a larger group was coming so they were prepared. Everyone liked their dinners, but I have to admit that the margaritas are pretty pricy for the size you get. The dinner portions were good, but dessert sizes are on the smaller size (not big enough to share). The dishes are on the mild side.not much heat, but flavorful Some thought the Tres Leche cake was dry and not really good. The cranberry apple turnover was the hit. You know the bill was high when the boss takes one look at it and says "wow". if you like to have a few drinks as well as an appetizer and dessert, be prepared to pay lot.

It's great to have a Mexican option back in Hinsdale and I dined here with the family to celebrate my birthday. This is upscale Mexican so don't come in thinking its Uncle Julio's. CiNe's interior is beautiful. And the bar is expansive. Several televisions also make it an ideal spot to watch a game. We started with the house margaritas. Excellent, except too much ice. Chips and salsa came with the drinks. The salsa is made daily and was spicy! Loved it. Can't say the same for the guacamole. At $8, the portion was small and tasted like something you could buy at Jewel--a disappointment. I had the chicken enchiladas which came in a cream like sauce. They were good, but again the portion was small for $18. Dessert was very tasty. Children's menu available, but it would have been nice if it included tacos. Service (Lauren) was excellent, especially since we were there the first week. Overall, better than good. Just wish the portions were a bit bigger for the Hinsdale prices. I shouldn't have to fill up on chips to feel satisfied. I will be back.

Just tried Cine. First time. Service was above average. Wait based on some of the reviews I read I'm going with Well Above Average. They really don't deserve some of the reviews I've read. They really did a great job. As for the food, again above average. Nicely presented fresh, plenty of flavor and certainly NOT normal Mexican fare. Not crazy expensive and definitely worth a try. Nice atmosphere, very good service and really good food. Don't listen to the negative reviews.

The atmosphere and food were great! Our service was amazing! Would definitely return.

I came to CiNe today for lunch with a friend. We had the quesadilla appetizer which was great. Then we had steak tacos which were wonderful! the margaritas are GREAT! we waited about 10 minutes for service when we were seated, otherwise CiNe would get 5 stars.
(4)Maureen D.
Dinner tonight at Cine was exceptional once again. Try it--you won't be disappointed. Great food and service and upscale ambiance. 5 stars for every dish we had tonight --Chicken tortilla soup, Carne Asada w/ creamy cilantro rice and asparagus w/ fabulous Colorado mole sauce, and delicious taco combo-- chicken tinga, pescada/ fish and carnitas!! ( other choices as well)

I made my choice of this place to celebrate "Dia de los Muertos", (Halloween), my first time here, was a little skeptic when I started reading the menu, but when me and my wife started eating ; WOW, everything was delicious, the waitress was so very friendly taking her time to explain the way it was cooked and the ingredients used, after ward we moved to the bar where we met the bartender, let me explain, this young man was not the typical College part timer, this was a real bartender, more of a Mixologist than a bartender,so very knowledgeable of his profession and all the time enjoying a delicious "Pumpkin Margarita" , a creation of his very own. It is worth to mention the decoration of this place, very nice and not the typical loud colors associated with Mexican Restaurants, this place is very elegant , yet discreet. Highly recommend it. It's a great place for a night out in the suburbs. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere, and the staff are great! A couple of things to remember about Ciné: 1. Try one of their margaritas. Pineapple or spicy pomegranate are unique and taste great. 2. The ceviches... Yum! Probably one of the best apps there. And with the latest menu updates, you have a possibility of trying all the different varieties the restaurant offers. 3. The enchiladas or filet mignon (even though the restaurant offers Latino cuisine) are just fabulous.. I remember the first impression about the enchiladas (wrapped in crapes instead of tortillas).. You just have to try it. 4. Keep some room for dessert. 5. The staff there knows a lot about their menu. Ask them questions. And don't forget to learn some more about tequila and actually fall in love with the liquor. Ciné has one of the biggest selections of tequilas I've ever seen.
(5)Manny V.
This is by far one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to, very different from any other one. All of the details in the elegant and cozy decor, ambience, and service are incredible. Cine has a very good feel about it and very fun. It is a good blend of old world Mexico and new world restaurant service. The flavors and combinations are unlike any other using regional ingredients paired with French techniques offering a fantastic array of tastes... CiNe is a mecca for foodies and lovers of Mexican cuisine. does not disappoint! Bravo !!!

Went on a Wednesday night at 7:30pm, restaurant had lots of seating and my husband and I chose a booth in the back. We used a prix fixe dinner groupon, and our waiter was attentive and knowledgable of the menu and mezcal selections. House margharitas were excellent, guacamole was good, a+ for the warm chips. I had the shrimp fajitas(loved and had enough for leftovers) and my husband had the chicken mole, also delicious! Choice of 2 desserts were included the chocolate cake and tres leche cake were some of the best desserts we have had! Will definitely come back!
(4)Paul K.
Outstanding Mexican with French inspiration! While the ambiance was warm and inviting, the service was how this place first won us over. Our waiter, Steve, introduced himself with warm enthusiasm (but not over-the-top or overbearing)! After explaining that the chef of Cine is "Mexican but went to school in France", we received several excellent French-inspired Mexican recommendations, of which we enjoyed: Nachos: Truffle oil turns some people off (not us!) but this was a *huge hit* with a black bean puree, mild crumbled cheese, and an avocado mousse. The best and like nothing else we've had! Plus we wouldn't have tried it without a recommendation, and I highly recommend it myself! Enchiladas: Instead of traditional tortillas, the enchiladas come wrapped in crepes and topped with bit of sauce over the top (not drowning like the usual sort). They had a bit of sweetness, but the savory filling and sauce brought them right back into a perfect balance. Even better, they come with a "side of creamy Mexican rice", but it's more of a rich risotto lightly but warmly spiced. Margarita Parfait: This we were told was a "special" dessert that was the first of its kind at the restaurant, with layers of a creamy margarita-flavored puree, lime gelatin, mint, and a light ponzu sauce at the bottom. This is one of the few desserts that is without chocolate that I find acceptable, which is saying something! Overall, a visit to this unique restaurant is an excellent experience you won't want to pass up!

My husband and I live in the neighborhood and we finally stopped by Cine yesterday to have a drink and some apps before dinner. We had a really lovely experience and would come back...especially with friends/family who need convincing that there are worthwhile restaurants in the suburbs. The outdoor patio is very quaint. The empanadas were really skillfully put together with lots of delicate flavors and textures. And my margarita was likely one of the best I've ever had...fragrant, perfectly chilled, with a really delicious orange flavor. It probably could have used a bit more tequila but it did not get in the way of how much I enjoyed it.
(5)Bill B.
Wonderful alternative to typical Mexican restaurants. While the menu has the usual items, there are many moderately priced offerings that are VERY good. The interior is beautifully done in an old theater building that gives the restaurant it's name. The service was very friendly. Try a Maramake Margarita, it was like drinking fresh squeezed juice, because it was! We had several different entrees, all of which came with sauces that were different from any we've had elsewhere. They were flavorful without being overly spicy. We had empanadas and churros for desert and they were both excellent. For the price, you can't beat CiNe for upscale Mexican fare.

I was excited to try Yanni's food, after dining at Sabor Saveur. I have some problems with it....The watermelon cocktail brought me back to my days spent in Mexico. so bravo. The menu was so tempting, I ordered the Chili Relleno and have to say, the filling has to much of a gritting mouth feel to go with the el dante poblano pepper, and no flavor so just texture...which was awful, a disappointment. The sauce exceptional. would not order again this recipe needs to be reworked. I also was disappointed with the rice served with the dish, not sure which ingredient in the rice was in the refrigerator too long, but it had a strong taste of "refrigerator bite" My fiance ordered the pork enchiladas, the flavors were exceptional in this dish, but the shredded pork was extremely dry. Hope the chef takes this to heart...because the space is delightful and will not take much to reach perfection!

My husband and I went to CiNe for the first time on Valentine's Day. We walked in and was pleasantly surprised by the friendly atmosphere and colorful decor. It's a place you can go with girlfriends, your spouse or with the family, young kids included. The food was beautifully presented. I had the chicken fajitas and my husband had the hanger steak. Both were delicious. We enjoyed the house margaritas and a chocolate martini for dessert. Both very fresh. The service was outstanding. We plan on going back again soon.

We chose to dine in the lounge area that seemed to be a little more upbeat to celebrate my birthday. The place was packed which is always a good sign to me. Our server, Mariam, was fabulous. The thing I love about Cine is the all over the board types of food you can get from traditional to modern, but very unique at least in the ones we tried. Our table of four all tried different things and everyone were big fans. We all shared a bit, but my personal favorites were the veggie tacos, the guacamole, and the churros y chocolate. The chocolate used for the churros is outstanding. .
(5)Tracy V.
I dined here with my husband and in-law's. All four of us enjoyed our experience. We are all fans of Il Poggiolo, so we were eager to try CiNe. I tried the CiNe margarita, which was wonderful, and my husband had the Prickly Pink, which was different, but very good as well. We started with the guacamole and empanada trio--both good. I ordered the chile relleno for my entree, and I have no complaints. However, I will say that the best description that I can come up with for everything is that it was "good"...not much else to say. My husband and father-in-law both ordered desserts, and both were decidedly unimpressed by them. No complaints on the service nor atmosphere, but it was incredibly dark where we were sitting. My husband had to whip out his phone to light our menus. I am glad that we gave it a try, but I would not go out of my way to dine here again.

Went to Cine for lunch on saturday for the very first time. I was very impressed with the house margaritas. Me and a friend ordered the pescado and pastor tacos which were amazing. For dessert we had churros "cine style" and they were so sweet and delicious. The service was great, 5 stars. Thank you cine, we will be back!
(5)E D.
First of all, there are a bunch of bad reviews for Cine by people who have only reviewed 1 thing on Yelp ever. That is a sure sign that someone is posting bogus reviews. Maybe they don't like the owner, maybe they own a competing restaurant, but these are not real reviews. I find that very annoying because it is a great addition to downtown Hinsdale and I would like to see them do well. I thought Cine's food was excellent and the atmosphere/ decor is really cool. I had the steak tacos which were perfect. The guac was decent and the margaritas were excellent. I do agree that the portions were a little light (especially the drink size which was like 3 sips) but that was the only negative. I'll definitely come back to Cine.
(4)Jules H.
I dined here last night and this place has some sweet spots and a couple things off the mark. The menu is beautiful, but it does not accurately describe the food delivered. Nice service. Greeted warmly at the host stand, led to a cozy booth. Good start, ready for some Mexican yum yums! We started with a delish guacamole dip & chips. and a crazy spicy salsa. I opted for a "small dish" of a couple chicken quesadilla bites. It was more like a heaping pile of shredded chicken on a big tortilla chip. Under whelmed, but the bar here is lovely. Good idea...but they need a flamingo dancer, band, and bigger glasses to sip water from. They do great sauces here, hot hot hot! Bigger water glasses please!

There was a long dark hair in the chips. Then, when my son starting eating his meal, he found a long dark hair in his fajita. He described the steak in his fajitas as "tasting like dog food," and I have to concur. The food overall was pretty industrial tasting, but two hairs in one night? Really? What are the odds of that happening? We won the gross-out lottery. Margaritas were decent. Waitress was great; we actually felt sorry for her. We did not ask to speak to the manager, but he came to speak with us and was extremely defensive. He did comp my meal without us asking him to do so. Nevertheless, hairnets are your friend. We will not be returning. I like my food bald.

We've been going to Cine since it first opened and think the food is so creative and fantastic. It's definitely not your standard Mexican fare. The chips and salsa are just awesome...the chips salted to perfection and the salsa is just a bit smoky. They also have excellent margaritas and a nice wine selection. My favorite entrees are the pastor tacos and the chicken enchiladas. The enchiladas are a nice example of the chef's creativity. Rather than serving them in a typical flour tortilla, they are prepared in a crepe shell and are covered in this amazing red pepper almond sauce. I recently tried the chile rellenos for the first time and wow, those did not disappoint either. They're breaded, filled with a mixture of ground beef and cheese, baked to perfection and topped with a delicious tomato cream sauce. I truly enjoyed them. We've dined here with and without children and enjoy either way. They do have a nice kid's menu, plenty of high chairs and coloring pages for each child. The restaurant is also housed in an old theatre, so it's a very cool space. We have had some sub par service here, especially when they first opened, but think the service has definitely improved lately and our most recent server George was excellent and very attentive!
(5)Jack K.
Great atmosphere, but little else for the price. Went early on a Saturday night and it wasn't crowded. Service was slow and you had to flag down the waiter for any service after the order was initially taken. As to the drinks, the margaritas were good but of little volume due to the large amount of ice in the glass. The guacamole was bland and the portion delivered tiny (about the size of golf ball) for the price. My enchilada dinner at almost $18 was shockingly small, each of the 3 about the size of a small cigar. Here too not even a hint of spice (Stouffer's frozen enchiladas are better). One of my table mates ordered fish tacos without cheese only to have the tacos delivered covered in cheese. My companions shared the same complaints of size, flavor and price. 1 star

We went here with high hopes and I'm sorry to say that it was one of the worst dinners we've had. We had a ceviche and a flatbread as apps. Ceviche was not the freshest and the flat bread was fair. I've had better from the trader joes frozen section. I also ordered the pineapple margarita which I heard they were known for their amazing margaritas. It tasted like pineapple Splenda water. Awful. The entrees did us in. I orders veggie tacos. They had no flavor. We went through 2 bowls of salsa to give our food flavor. The tacos had potatoes croquettes on them. They were more like hush puppies from long john silvers minus any flavor. They had a skimpy piece of avocado on them and corn salsa. My dish also came with rice and beans. The beans had this weird piece of gelatin in them. Like they were sitting too long. It was just bad. My husband had some very sad shrimp tacos. Red cabbage and some tiny shrimp and a weird coconut sauce. Will never go here again. Service was not good either. Expected much more based on the other reviews. The chips weren't even good. Sorry Cine. You need to reevaluate what your serving. It's subpar at best.

Went to CiNe on Valentine's Day. Horrible experience. Dinner took almost 3 hours! Service was horrible. The restaurant was not that busy but I would assume that even if it was busy, we could have gotten in and out in at the most 2 hours. When the food finally arrived, they had brought over a plate of tacos that we did not order. The server told us that we could just have them. When the bill showed up, we were charged for this wrong order. Two of us ordered beans and rice but they never showed up. We were celebrating a birthday and brought our own cake. When we asked our server to bring the cake, it took over 20 minutes! The food was mediocre at best and the pricing was way too high. I love Mexican food and this place is one of the worst in Chicagoland.
(1)Palak Q.
One of the best experiences my father had here, when we brought him to the restaurant for dinner during his visit to Chicago in September. Their salsa is to die for. Presentation gets 6 stars and the ambiance gets 7! I would recommend dining in their patio if the weather is nice. We were lucky to get cosy weather the night we dined. I ordered their Cine salad. It was fresh, tasty and presented very well. Nice kids menu too. Our daughter did the chicken nuggets and fries. The manager personally came to greet us and make sure if everything was good. Awesome hospitality!
(5)Sam M.
Not sure what is with all the bad reviews. This is a good place to go to in the suburbs (where there is a lack of Mexican restaurants) with family (even kids) and friends. Sure this restaurant is not Frontera Grill, but it's still serves up some good quality and creative Mexican food. Surprisingly, it is not an uptight place considering it's in the heart of the uptight town of Hinsdale. The atmosphere is fun, colorful, and casual. Great Mexican music playing. The food was fresh. Tacos--can't really go wrong with those--were flavorful. I got the fish tacos and a friend got the skirt steak. The skirt steak was tender, and not leathery as it usually is. It had a good flavor and was marinaded well. I actually enjoyed the guacamole and thought it was very fresh and simple. Service was friendly and excellent. Would definitely go back and glad to see a non-uptight place in this neighborhood.
(4)Richard E.
Went here with my daughter (8)... Had nachos and she had a Mac and Cheese... she loved it... Nachos were good... I ordered a burrito (no meat). They left out the beans too, so it was tomato, green peppers, loads of jalapenos, lettuce and goat cheese... it was really hot and quite honestly rather awful... They brought me a side of black beans to ease the pain... goat cheese in a burrito is not a good idea either... got the distinct impression that they try to be cool/inventive but the result is another suburban culinary disappointment... the margarita was tiny and mostly ice... the city spoils us... However, the place was nice inside, good atmosphere, great service... and my daughter liked it...
(2)Teanna T.
I enjoy coming to this place for the decor and ambiance. I love their chicken enchiladas. They have 3 different type of salsa taster you can get & it's super yummy.

Just not am enjoyable meal. Took a long time to get the meal, multiple requests for various things while we were waiting went unfulfilled, and the Fajitas were terrible.
(1)Donald S.
My wife and I dined here for the first time last night and it was amazing! I had the spicy pomegranate margarita and it was delicious! We got some guacamole, chips, and salsa and it was great! Our server Lauren was very attentive and knew everything about the meal. She told us about the chefs specials and I tried the corn soup and it was fantastic! so full of flavor! The place at a great atmosphere as well. We will be coming back here for sure!
(5)Susan B.
I guess if you've never had good Mexican food, you'd quite enjoy this place. I've been here twice and just don't get the appeal. The vibe is fun and the decor almost on par with hip restaurants in the city. But the enchiladas I ordered on my first visit had the consistency of gooey crepes. The filling was sweet, which totally threw me off. So for my second try, I ordered a stuffed chile. It tasted better that the enchiladas, but was so small it should have been an appetizer. I left famished, and I'm a small person. I hope they improve the taste and portions or re-concept it into a small plates restaurant. It would be a shame if it closes so soon after opening. Both times I went, there weren't many people in the place.
(2)Bryan B.
Although I felt like a 12 year old ordering fajitas at CiNe, I was glad that I did. The flavor was awesome. In addition to the char-grilling flavor, there was some other spice on the chicken and vegetables that I could not identify. It was excellent. It you know, please educate me.
(4)Alex S.
Loved everything, CiNe and staff have come a long way since opening. In the past year they have really perfected their menu, service and atmosphere. We sat at the bar before dinner and the bartenders Luis, Javier and Anthony were very friendly and knowledgeable. The drinks were creative and delicious. We were happy to learn that Dan had joined the CiNe team as GM from Il Pogg, we love him! Our dinner and service were both incredible. I ordered the steak fajitas and they were outstanding. My guest had the Enchiladas with lobster and loved them. We will definitely be back. Burdi's have three great restaurants in downtown Hinsdale, can't wait for the fourth!
(5)Carla C.
Have been here several times and last night may have been my last. For a restaurant w so much potential (great location outdoor seating etc varied menu) their service is consistently horrible. The last 3 times i have been here the server was inattentive slow to bring us drinks and menus and silverware even! A runner brought out entrees so we needed to tell him what we orderedThey need to get someone in to train their staff ASAP or it will be the death of this place. I've worked in food service before and this is really inexcusable. Understandably nothing is life or death here but really substandard for what is expected. Service should be a cornerstone.
(2)Paul C.
Went here on a Saturday night with my wife. The sangria was great. Chips and salsa pretty good. The salsa is a little spicy. The guacamole not so good. There is no taste, just large chunks of avocado. No salt, no garlic, seriously it's pretty bad. I ordered the skirt steak tacos which were very good. My wife had the mole chicken which was so-so. The mole sauce was very good but the chicken was dry. The place looks great and Hinsdale needs a Mexican restaurant. I would go back for the tacos but skip the guacamole. The owners of this establishment should really try tasting their guacamole.
(3)Joel T.
Went here for the first time on my lunch break. The decore was very cool. The food was outstanding. I had the steak and chorizo tacos with an order of rice and was not disappointed. I am a fan of bold and spicy food and this was right up my alley. The service was quick and very pleasant. I will be coming here quite often
(5)Eric Y.
I agree that seeing a bunch of 1 star reviews from reviewers without too many reviews is a sure sign of a bogus review. That being said, I was hopeful that we would have a nice meal at this place. The restaurant is fairly new, opening up in the former Hinsdale movie theater. Inside, the restaurant is visually attractive, with a front area that is more casual and a back area that is more of a sit-down place. A beautiful ornamental tree statue graces the center of the restaurant. The banquettes, light fixtures and mosaic wall treatments are also nice. We sat in the back area where the decor is more understated. The tables are a bit rustic looking and the chairs cushionless. A nice touch were the napkins which were more like dish towels. Initially the room was about half full but later as the restaurant filled up the noise level became really challenging. REALLY CHALLENGING! Service was friendly but uneven. Our drink order was taken immediately and the drinks came out fast enough but we waited quite a long time for chips and salsa and then at the end of the meal we did not receive dessert menus for what seemed like an eternity. So what about the food? This place bills itself as a "modern taqueria" and if paying $30-40 per person for tacos is modern, then I prefer old-school. I think they are trying to price themselves as more "upscale" than the typical Mexican place, and occupying prime real-estate in Hinsdale seems to require that. However, the food has to be worth the money, right? On that note, there were some hits but mostly the food missed the mark. The chips and salsa verde were good and the guacamole was outstanding. The carnitas quesadillas looked strange when they arrived at out table ... they were plated with one half of the plate completely barren. Was there supposed to be something else there? They tasted pretty good though ... overflowing with tender pork but could have used some acid. The trio of empanadas were served to us with raw crusts ... yuck. Our main courses were also uneven. We tried some of the tacos. The pastor tacos were the best of the lot, with juicy pork and nice acidity provided by a pineapple salsa. The steak tacos were nothing special and the fish tacos were nearly inedible ... overcooked chunks of bland fish with some dry slaw and very little sauce. Really ... this is modern? If you get a chance, try the fish tacos at Rubios, a fast food place that beats the fish tacos here by a wide margin. I had the grouper and white mole, a nicely cooked piece of grouper bedded on a sauce of white chocolate, banana peppers and other spices. It was pretty tasty however there was a huge charred pepper of some sort that garnished / dominated the plate. It was so large I figured that it was supposed to be eaten but when I bit into it, it was really dry and bitter and clearly not to be eaten. I had to spit it out. Note to chef: DON'T USE INEDIBLE GARNISHES, ESPECIALLY HUGE INEDIBLE GARNISHES! We ordered churros w/ chocolate amaretto sauce for dessert after waiting forever for menus. These were particularly disappointing. They looked like they were leftovers from the churro guy at Navy Pier and the chocolate amaretto sauce was cold and lumpy. On the plus side, our drinks were delicious - the pride and passion was a lovely Mezcal/passionfruit drink and the red sangria was quite good too. My advice: Sit at the bar, have a nice drink, get some chips/salsa/guacamole and then head out to Chipotle for some good tacos at a fair price!

It's good. The margaritas are great. Service is awesome. I hate reviews without food, but I'm going there. Interior is sharp. Lets see if it can survive hinsdale's restaurant curse.
(3)Sandra K.
Early seating for dinner without a reservation where ambiance, service, noise level, and presentation of the food were fine. More mature crowd. A long wait for the CiNe and Prickly Pink Margarita. Drinks are meager with no half-pitchers here. Recommend substituting the tequila/mezcal for a better and aged product and requesting additional fresh lime/lemon juice for balance. We took the waiter up on his offer to replace the drink -- instead we were charged twice. Now for the food... The chicken enchilades are bland and rolled in a crepe that is too sweet and served with a crema sauce (a.k.a. vodka sauce) topped with wilted arugula. Kick-it-up-a-notch and offer more seasoning to the shredded chicken, spicy heat to the sauce and prepare the crepes with corn flour to give texture and a savory flavor. The creamy mexican rice is processed peas, square carrots, in a starchy rice ball--tastes like end-of-the-week cafeteria food. Yuck! Filete a la Tomatillo was presented sliced and again needs more heat. Requested medium rare beef: half the portion was well done the other medium rare. The chef prepared a second entre that arrived rare. Capirotada, a cold french toast, was for dessert with Mexican coffee. The dessert is suppose to be dusted with peanuts and almonds. The peanuts are to large and do not compliment the flavors. There were no almonds and the coffee weak. Finally, management should allow for mixing or modifications by offering small plates of the tacos or enchilades, etc. Guess the tab--$130.00 with tip. OUCH! These folks need to be a student of Rick Bayless.
(2)Benjamin T.
One of few upscale Mexican choices in the area. In general, dining here is a good experience, with good service and decent menu. The guacamole on two visits has been too salty for my taste, but the fish tacos were good as was the fajita plate. The chef is not going to be competitive with Rick Bayless on the high end, while, price per taste bud, Taco Grill on Ogden is a better deal.

Love Cine. Went this past Sunday evening with my husband, and son and daughter-in-law. Our waiter George (Jorge?) was absolutely tremendous. He struck exactly the right balance of friendliness and attentiveness. They were very accommodating with special requests, like making the guacamole without onions, for example. Take the recommendation for the house margarita , it's fabulous. Just the right amount of tartness, and only salted on one side of the rim so that you can drink with or without. We love the flautas, trio of salsa, and guac as appetizers. For entrees, the Carne Asada was incredible, and we also enjoyed the tacos - coconut shrimp was especially good. Highly recommend a visit to Cine, and if you can get George as your waiter you'll have an even better time.

I went for my birthday and had a mixed experience. We enjoyed the margaritas and the salsa trio, to start. I ordered the Carne Asada done medium, and it took about 40 minutes to arrive at our table, and when it did, the steak was very well done. While I hate to ever send food back, if I'm paying for a nice steak, I want it to taste better than what I can grill at home. The waiter apologized and had it taken care of. It took another half hour to arrive, but when they brought it back out, the dish was great. We weren't in a rush, since it was my birthday, but if we had been, I might've been more annoyed by how long it took. My wife got the lobster enchiladas verdes which were great, too. So, CiNe has good food with friendly service, taking care of an issue without giving us a hard time. But the food was very slow to arrive and put us in the awkward position of having to send something back, in spite of the long wait.

I've only had the taquitos, guacamole, chips and salsa. The taquitos were tiny! Almost the size of my finger. Taste, nothing to go back for, seeing that the size was so small and most of the plate filled with lettuce. I usually love guacamole and this one I didn't care to eat anymore of. Not enough ingredients or taste (mostly hard avocado). Their chips are not authentic and hardly have any taste. Their salsa is green and leaves a really bad taste in your mouth. Pretty much crushed onion and cilantro. Service was slow- I looked at the menu, but was not about to overspend after tasting the appetizers and waiting forever for someone to come by.

Ego Ego and more Ego If that is what you want in your experience then this is the place for you. Had a few simple questions about the menu, the waitress spoke to the manager but he was not willing to discuss or even acknowledge. And when the manager was approached as we left he walked away. Enjoy

My husband and I went to CiNe Saturday night without a reservation and the sweet hostess graciously found us a little tabletop in the bar and even brought an extra stool over to us. She really made us feel welcomed and the decor was terrific. We immediately received a bowl of warm tortilla chips and good green salsa. Wish the online menu was consistent with prices in-house. We ordered 3 house margaritas that tasted great but were listed on line as $8.95 but I know they cost more than that. Our bill with tip for 3 drinks and 2 taco plates was $70. Yikes! this is the suburbs, not downtown. Online menu features 3 tacos for $9 but in-house menu serves 4 tacos for almost $14. 3 tacos would have been ample. The tacos tasted fine but the server tried very hard to get me to spend an additional $4.95 for the "tres salsas". I said no and the food was delicious without the extras. The food came right away. The all around service was very good. I really want to like this place and bring my extended family here for fun evenings as we all love Mexican food. I just wish prices could be adjusted for locale.

In reality I would give CiNe four stars but I think the three stars is completely underrated so I chose five to give them a boost. My husband and I came here to check out Hinsdale. (Relocating from the city) We decided to go here for lunch and loved everything. The salsa sampler was delish and we both loved our tacos. He had steak and fish I had veggie. One of the things I'm a bit unnerved about when moving to the suburbs is the food. CiNe made me feel a little better about that. We will definitely be coming back even if we don't choose Hinsdale.

We went for an early dinner on Saturday night and were not disappointed. I inhaled the Guacamole and the chips were obviously fresh. The margaritas were perfect, obviously made with fresh limes, a smooth tequila, and cointreau. We ordered the Enchiladas and the portions were plentiful. The creamy rice and the crepes made the dish amazing. I wouldn't change a thing! Also ordered the Filete a la Tomatillo which was full of great flavors I couldnt get enough of. The steak was tender and the red onion sauce and potatoes were a perfect mix. finished it off with Tres Leches Cake for desert. Thats when I jizzed my pants and asked the chef if we could make out It makes me sad to see all the terrible reviews for this restaurant as it was one of the most enjoyable dinners I had in a long long time.

The best Marguaritas anywhere in the city or suburbs. Last night Day of the Dead celebration with music and free beer tastes was magnificent. The service has improved since they first opened and is five star now. The food was spectacular. I am a foodie and had been all over the world and they have really, really improved since opening. I had a raw tuna appetizers that was fantastic. If you haven't been there recently go back. It will be worth it.

We loved this place. Nice modern decor with great atmosphere. In our group group we loved the avocado mousse, the tamarind margarita, chile rellenos, white mole, carne asana, Mexican style lasagna . The biggest hit of the evening was one of the desserts- the sweet plantain bisque with ice cream. It was one of the best desserts we have eaten all year. The Mexican coffee was perfectly spiced. Service was friendly though about slow at the end of our meal when the restaurant became busier. We are definitely going back. It's great to have an upscale Mexican restaurant around again.

Great food and service! The salsa trio was great, and such was the ceviche.

I live in town and love upscale Mexican food. The guacamole had no taste. The appetizers were ok but the fish tacos barely had any fish in it and was covered with this flakey taco and it tasted awful. Actually there was no taste it was just bland. Everything else on the menu was covered with cheese, butter and cream . SALBUTE I miss you. I won't come back

I've eaten at Cine about five times with different groups. The first time I came I ordered the fish which came with a topping of chorizo that was just an awful combination! I guess I was trying to be adventurous but was greatly disappointed. The next time I came here with a group of gals for drinks and appetizers. I ordered their house margarita and was disappointed because I could barely taste any tequila. It was ridiculously weak and at $9.00 for a small portion was just not worth it. The third time we sat at the bar and I ordered the filet which was perfectly cooked and delicious. Once again I ordered the margarita and once again very weak. This week I stopped by with a group and I ordered the chicken enchiladas which were delicious! My guests ordered the tacos which they loved but for $14. and the size - we thought the price was too high. The other guests ordered the nachos which we all tried and agreed were delicious but messy. My other friend ordered the tamales which were very tasty. Our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable however the staff did not refill our water. We had to stop a staff walking by our table to ask for refills. One thing I don't understand why Cine allows this is when guests are finished eating, plates ought to be removed as quickly as possible. But instead the bus boy passed us by and cleaned the tables where guest had left. It is uncomfortable when you are trying to enjoy after dinner conversation among friends with a table filled with dirty plates! This is just not acceptable. The waiter came by to drop off the check but failed to acknowledge the dirty mess and walked away!

As you can see I have given CIne a 5 out of 5 star rating...and believe me it is not easy to get me to do that. I live close to the City of Chicago and usually dine out there because of the experiences I have had. When I heard about Cine I was worried about going to the suburbs for an over all excellent experience. When I arrived I was welcome to a really cool ambiance that was similar to a sharp downtown restaurant. THe wait staff was super friendly and I am the type of person to talk to everyone including the " bus boys" and they even stuck around for a minute to talk about their favorite dishes, etc. The group I was with ordered a bunch of dishes and shared them and everything was great. The drinks were amazing, which to me a drink while eating mexican styled food is EVERYTHING. I would highly recommend going to Cine !

Overall I was disappointed. Table was not ready when I arrived. What is the point of a reservation? Drinks were expensive and not worth the price. Margarita was the worst I have ever had! Food was mediocre. I expected something like Frontera Grill/Topolobampo. The chicken was dry and tasteless. Hinsdale deserves better! Will not be going back.

Our family went there for dinner on a Saturday evening. The staff was friendly and attentive. Family friendly. We had steak fajitas, pork tacos, fish tacos, and a child's hamburger. We also had the guacamole. Everything was delicious, very nice atmosphere.

Guacamole and margaritas were excellent. The decor is attractive and comfortable altho' the noise factor is definitely an issue. By the end of the evening, we could not hear others at our large table. Ordered the appetizer quesadillas which were ok but not very tasteful. Plus, due to the fact that 5 at our table were served before the 6th, my food was cold after waiting to all eat together. Otherwise the service was fine and others at the table did like their entrees....enchiladas, mole, fajitas, tacos. Will probably try it again sometime but not rushing back at this point.

Went to CiNe with my wife for dinner. The service was horrible and very slow. The portions were small and not that memorable. We left hungry and paid $100 for a few tacos and some guacamole and chips. The bill was incorrect and we paid it anyway because we couldn't bare to wait any longer for our waitress to come back. The Clarendon Hills Mexican restaurant much better

I was very excited to have a Mexican Restaurant move into Hinsdale. I think they are going to need some time to work the kinks out. For a Mexican restaurant, I thought the menu was not very robust. It needs more variety. We had the Tacos and empanadas. The tacos were average and the meat slightly overcooked. One of the 3 empanadas was good the other two ruined the experience. If you could order just one type the Pork and carmelized Onion empanada was the only one I cared for. The Margarita was good but for $9 a glass I expected a larger glass. I literally emptied the glass in about 3 minutes and wasn't about to get sucked into a huge bar bill. Although good, I wouldn't order it again due to price and its not like I couldn't afford it. It just wasn't a good value. Last comment is that they seemed to have a whole lot of rules. No you couldn't exchange items on the menu, no you can't get a pitcher of sangria, no they couldn't do a frozen margarita, no you couldn't order from the dinner in the bar area. Just not very flexible. One good note. They did have a very unique corn soup dish that was quite unusual and quite good. I highly recommend it if you go. There are however better Mexican options that are more affordable nearby.

We went back today after our first visit when they opened. Our first visit was not impressive but today we noticed all of the positive changes they have made. The guacamole is no longer bland but has some spice to it, tacos are only three but added meat has definitely made them filling. This was a luncheon menu and my friend could barely finish her fijatas. The wait staff couldn't have been more friendly with great service. I will be a repeat customer!

Came here for lunch this week with a friend and i was not impressed at all with the food. The creamy rice did not have any flavor, and had no Mexican spice at all. We also were not happy with the enchiladas because they were made with crepes ( i like corn tortillas) and didn't have anything special about them. Waste of $13 i must say. I'm really disappointed because i love Mexican food and was excited to have my go to place right in hinsdale. The decor is cute though i must say. ;) I'm giving them 2 stars because i plan to go back and try the margaritas. Hopefully we cant go wrong with the drinks

great bar area, but the food portions are unbelievably small. Hope it is able to make it....

Very disappointed. I do understand they have been open only a week, but there are some signs of basic issues that go to the heart of staying in business. First, had a reservation at 6pm on a Sunday with another couple. Arrived at 6 but was told there would be a 20 min. wait. Annoying but I'll give them a pass on this one. Sat at a high top instead in the kind-of bar area with TV's. Ordered margaritas and sangria. Margaritas were awful. My buddy confirmed this. We told the waitress (who by the way told us she was 19 and couldn't tell us anything about wine) and her quote was "gee - that's strange, you are the first people ever to tell me the margaritas are bad". No "I'm sorry". No "let me get you something else." Sangria was watered down. I do give them props on the chips and green salsa, VERY good. We ordered guacamole, and we each ordered the taco plater which were 3 soft tacos at about $10 for each taco plater. I knew we were in trouble when the waitress said we might want to order more food than that. The guac was good. The tacos I had - carne assada - were good, but were basically one bite tacos. That's how small they were. We decided not to order anything else and asked for the check. Total for 2 margarias, sangria, miller lite, guac, and 4 taco platters = $100. Crazy. With tip $120. WAY overpriced. Bad margaritas and overpriced mexican food means me no coming back. We promptly drove over to Aguamiel in Clarendon Hills and had an OUTSTANDING real mexican dinner. We also heard two other couples did the same thing we did ie started and CiNe and some walked out in mid-meal and went to Aguamiel. I am hoping they fix the margarita thing but from the reaction of the waitress I don't think they will be. But the pricing is way way over the top for what you get.

My husband and I have been to CiNe twice and have enjoyed our dining experience both times. Our first visit was on a Wednesday night - it was crowded, but not overwhelming and we were seated at a nice booth that was slightly secluded and definitely was a good noise buffer. We shared the trio of salsas (one was too hot for me, but he loved it!), chicken flautas and steak fajitas. YUM. Our second trip we (accompanied by my sister) had guacamole (very tasty!), an order of tacos (two pastor and two carnitas - apparently the kitchen can now split the order, which was great!), chicken mole (lovely!) and the steak fajitas, again. Since we were all sharing, our server kindly brought extra tortillas (both flour and corn). Our only complaint was that it took a really long time to get the bill on our second visit (it was a Sunday night, and pretty late - I guess she was busy helping close up, but you would think she would want to get rid of us, right?). We will definitely be back - it's not cheap, and if you're looking for Chevy's, this isn't the place fo you, but the food is delicious, and the quality is really good.

After a long anticipated wait I can honestly say what a disappointment!! CiNe's attempt to be upscale Mexican restaurant needs serious improvement. The menu itself is very repetitious. Avocado cream on almost everything. We began with several appetizers. The empanadas tasted ok but we're smothered in sautéed onions and avocado slices same thing can be said about the tostadits. After our appetizers we wanted to try all of the tacos I began to order one of each and was cut off by the server who told me sorry but the chef will not make one of each kind of taco. I was informed the tacos come 4 to an order... Meaning 4 of the same kind per order. The server said it was because it was to difficult for the chef to make one of each kind of taco so we could try them. The restaurant was not even that busy. We decided not to order any of the tacos. Which I have to say was a huge disappointment because we really wanted to try them. What kind of a place has tacos on the menu under the pretense that four come per order then when you try to order one of each kind you are told "I'm sorry but our kitchen can't handle making 4 different tacos for you it is too difficult." Honestly the chef and the restaurant should be embarrassed. Moving onto entrees. The Carne Asdad... Great cut of meat sitting in a puddle of cilantro oil with tons of raw onions on top and some chips....great beef cut with a very poorly executed dish. I will say the highlight of the evening was the drinks. The bartender makes excellent specialty drinks. They may be the saving grace for this restaurant. Though my initial reaction is to NEVER return to this mediocre at best restaurant. I always give places a second try. Tough I hope if I do return changes are made. If a guest is willing to pay money to have one of each taco I'm sorry restaurant but they should be able to have it. One last thing the salsas extremely bland and desperately need an overhaul. The first thing that hits the table are the chips and salsa... Overly spicy and flavorless. Not to mention the dish containing the salsa was only a quarter full. We laughed about how little salsa there was in our dish. Even the trio of salsas was less than favorable. one tasted like ketchup one tasted very sweet and the avocado cream might as well have been sour cream dyed green. Our bill was a little over $200. We all left hungry and went to another restaurant afterwards to fill up and have dessert. Either way CiNe has a long way to go if they hope to survive in the year to come.
