Really good food and unique atmosphere. Their relish tray was fresh vegetables, cheese, two types of coleslaw, pineapple kiwi grape salad and pate. They also had breadsticks and crackers. We had made reservations so the table was already set up for us with the relish tray which was really nice. I had the shrimp scampi & my husband had the NY strip. Both were really good & came with soup or salad and rolls. They make everything from scratch except the honey dipped chicken & they have their own garden. Our waitress was excellent & overall their service is outstanding.

Always a pleasant evening of relaxed dining here. Food is well prepared and service is quite attentive. Emphasis is on German specialties, but everything is tasty.

Wow. I know I'm a little biased because I'm not used to small town America but there was really just one thing about this place that wasn't totally horrifying: the draft hefeweizen. I'm not a German food fan generally but it was the low quality of the food that I object to. I just ordered a pasta dish and it was not at all as described on the menu. I might as well have stayed home and boiled some angel hair and topped it with some Prego. The decor is completely old school. my father-in-law was looking forward to the 'pâté', breadsticks and antipasto which turned out to be a scoop of brown stuff in a bowl that was already on the table with some packaged crackers, carrot-raisin salad and pickled herring. My husband said his breaded, pounded meat was ok and the creamed spinach was 'interesting' (and he grew up here, lol). I could go on but I won't. Apparently there are locals who love this place. A few, anyway- it was verrrrry quiet for a Saturday night. Not to be mean but if you're at all used to 'city food', you don't want to eat here.

First of we have been to the Heritage House for 15 + years. There have been meals that will knock your socks off. Tonight was not one of those. My understanding is there has been a change of chef recently. Tonight was a low. My wife ordered the catfish special. It came tasting like, but with much more grease than Long John Silver's. The potato pancakes were marginal at best. My medium rare fillet was an interesting experience. Evidently the cook does not know the difference between fillet minion and a slab of sirloin. My medium rare was at least 5 minutes over cooked. The last straw was the tiramisu. It was a sponge cake covered in whipped cream topped with chocolate chips. Chocolate chips??? Seriously? Hoping the Heritage House can get back to the quality food and service that it has had in the past.

This place is exactly what it should be. A great old Wisconsin style supper club. It has so much unique personality. I'm sure it hasn't changed much in 20 yrs which is a pro and a con. If you want the hippest trendiest flash in the dark then keep driving. But if you want great traditional German food at a fair price, you found it.

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner (we were staying at a nearby B&B). Although the pricing seems teensy bit exorbitant, the food was pretty darn good. I would go back, if only for the french onion soup. I have never in my entire life had soup so delicious! The alcohol options were slim to none. Too bad it's not BYOB. :/

Been eating at this restaurant for 15 years or so, the food is good the service is the best. The atmosphere is dated I agree but has an old world charm that you do not find as often theses days, if you become a regular it won't take long to get to know he staff and the lovely owner. The prices are more than fair and you will not leave hungry.

a decent German or Bohemian style place on the edge of Harvard. the interior looks like it is out of an timewarp and reminded me of the Wisconsin supper clubs of old. the service is a bit slow, but not horrible. the drink seemed a bit watered down. you get a relish tray before dinner as well as soup or salad. the soup was ok, but not amazing. the relish tray was very good with crudites, liver dumpling, cheese and creamed herring.(yum)I had the trout which was quite good and my wife had the walleye which was also tasty. comes with choice of starch. dessert looks good, Strudel et al, but we didnt have any room for it. prices were quite good. I will return.

I have eaten at this restaurant a few times a year for the past 35 years. It has gone down hill over the past few years. A few weeks ago a small group had dinner there and one of three had cold food and the waitress disappeared after bringing the entrees. Had to ask three times for silver service for one person and cracker wrappers from the appetizers were left piled on the table and were still there when the check arrived. When the server presented the check she noticed my food had not been touched. I told her it was served cold and she said "did you want to take it home?" The owner was acting as a hostess and asked how things were on our departure and she was told 'the food was cold and the service miserable." She turned and walked away without comment. They seem more oriented to pushing cocktails than paying attention to food quality or dinner service. What was once a quality dining experience has turned into an over priced restaurant with low quality food. They call themselves a German restaurant, but have very few German items. Best to drive on by and find a restaurant that desires to survive.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
