Best chocolate milk on the planet. I absolutely love every drop of it. I like to stop by just to buy a small thing of chocolate milk. It tastes like melted down candy bars - super rich and creamy. Plus it's kind of cool that it comes in a big glass jug when you buy it in the store. Their regular milk and ice cream are great as well. Too bad Oberweis himself is a bigot. Milk is good enough, though, that I still buy it.

Kind of high priced for the options. I will stick with the milk next time because the ice cream was on the weak side of flavoring. Had the Chocolate/Peanut butter, very sad excuse for ice cream. Small portions too, 2 scoops was more like one over sized scoop

The manager at this store is HORRIBLE! I saw him hit an employee in the head.. I was shocked and thought maybe I had imagined it, but I kept an eye on him and he did it a second time!! I was in the store for only 20 minutes and this poor girl was struck in the head twice.. I can't imagine what she (and the rest of his staff) have to put up with each day having this horrible person as their supervisor.. Completely unprofessional, and morally wrong! I will not be going back to this location EVER!!

Oberweis a place we have been dying to go to since we tried their eggnog and yummy milk!!! But but but on the very first day of sun this spring, we seized the opportunity to go get what we thought would be a delicatessen... hmmm... what a disappointment! The store / ice-cream parlor is nice looking, traditional and all. They have a nice section where they sell their tasty products. When it comes to ice-cream, we both agreed that it was nothing special... It is ok, a place you need to check out at least once to make your own opinion! Go for it!

$14 for me and my boyfriend to have icecream?? Dislike. Awesome chocolate milk and raspberry lemon-aid. The new coconut whatever icecream is not that good, the cedarcrest coconut explosion is 100 times better and I can get a whole pint for $3 on sale at the grocery store. My boyfriend had the butter pecan and liked it but the price just wasn't worth it.

This place is not cheap, but every once in a while, when you want a glass of fabulous chocolate milk from a glass bottle or ice cream that tastes like perfectly churned clouds, this is where you want to be. Their sundaes are delicious--and you can usually split one with somebody, they're not small. The banana split is skillfully layered with toppings of your choice, and the hot fudge is gooey and delicious. They have a fairly new flavor of ice cream, Espresso Caramel Chip, that I've actually chosen as my new favorite flavor. The espresso chips might as well be espresso beans, they are so dense with the taste of espresso. And yet, they chips are also so chocolatey you can't imagine there's enough flavor-space for the espresso. The caramel is sweet and smooth, the ice cream is... well, it's creamy. At $7 for a quart I wouldn't buy it all the time, unless I suddenly became a millionaire, but for a special occasion this stuff is the bomb. That's right, I said THE BOMB. All of their other flavors are delicious as well, although I prefer any of the caramel variety.

Horrible customer service. They've gotten my order wrong 4 times!!! and I all i ask for is no whipped cream or pecans..Thats it.. after the 4th time we spoke to the manager to see if there's something I'm doing wrong by asking for that and he basically stated to ask for a manager every time I order. That's pretty much saying he expects his workers to fail. That doesn't solve the problem. This ice cream is delicious that's the only plus. it is very expensive. They also forgot to make my husbands order this last time.

Holy crap! Yeah it's a chain but when they have excellent customer service I like singling them out for good experiences. What to try? Dark chocolate ice cream or black cherry ice cream. The milk here is good too but come on! Ice cream is where it's at. The staff here are very courteous. Good job, guys!

I love this place. Strawberry ice cream is awesome here but I like the strawberry shake the best. I love that they add the flute cookie on top, a nice extra touch. Actually really any of their ice cream flavors are good because I love creamy ice cream. I always get great friendly service too. You gotta wait a few minutes when they make a strawberry shake so don't order that if you are in a hurry. They also sell other dairy products like butter, eggs, cheese, and milk. I buy their whole milk for my toddler. Remember to save the glass bottles to get a discount on your next milk purchase. I like their milk/ice cream because it's on the creamier end. Their chocolate milk is on the thicker side FYI. Specifically this location is great because it is the only one I know of within a decent distance from me that has a drive thru!!

It's expensive, meaning this place is more for a "once in a while" sort of treat. The Ice Cream, sundaes, and shakes are all award winning if you like "classics". Everything they sell is au natural, and if you prefer your food to be more wholesome, this is it. The milk is incredible, but prohibitively expensive. Though I love their egg nog and chocolate milk, again, the price is too much for what it is. Glass bottles are quaint, and I like that they refund them when you bring them back. They offer a military discount, and have a friendly staff.

Milk dispensary of choice for our home. Convenient and clean. Avoid during Six Flags rush.

Ever since this place moved in... i've never felt the same about ice cream. Ben and Jerry's? Hell no. Oberweis all the way. Love it here and have good friendships with the employees. My dad and I have spent a lot of quality time here. Favorite dish: chocolate peanut butter shake.

Whats there to knit pick about ice cream!? Especially Oberweis ice cream! :D I love how creamy and rich their vanilla ice cream is. It has always been my all time favorite! Until... my boyfriend introduced me to their Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream! Yuuuuuum!! I hate when eating cookie dough ice cream and there's a ton of chocolate chips all over. Kinda gets in my way. This one doesnt and i loved it! And it was PLENTY of cookie dough! They dont skimp! For the most part, this location is pretty clean, friendly staff, can be packed during summer times and at night. Parking can be kinda hard some time.

Good ice cream, fun choices, crawling with kids (duh) so not really a great date night spot to linger.

I love this Oberweis, we always go here after leaving for the day from Six Flags Great America. The staff here is always freindly and efficient...plus you just can't beat Oberweis for a nice sweet treat after a day in the park!

The closest thing to an old-fashioned, full flavored ice cream shoppe, the air in Oberweis is thick with the smell of sweet cream. It all starts with the highest quality milk around, which is also sold in the stores. The ice cream menu consists of about 12-15 ongoing flavors and another 12 seasonal flavors. I love their eggnog, pumpkin and espresso caramel chip ice cream. It's a high-fat super premium treat. They make great hot fudge and brownie sundaes as well as a new line of specialty banana splits called Royales. They also make delicious waffle cones in the store. Quality is of the highest order and service is great as well. The manager will stop at your table to check your satisfaction with your order. In addition to the made to order ice cream selections, there are lemonades, eggs, cakes, yogurts, bacon and ice cream to go in the freezers. I'd give this place a higher rating if the prices weren't so crazy high. They have a corner on the market for premium ice cream, and they are milking that position.

I don't like the interior and seating area but I suppose it's super clean and pristine. They could have more/better seating. However, the ice cream and shakes are to die for. I don't know why anyone would want to die for their milkshake, but these are so good, you just might. Best Milkshake I can remember having, maybe ever.

5 star all the way! their ice cream is so amazing, i come here twice a week. especially since its only 3 minutes away from my place. my absolute favorite is the cookie dough ice cream.. its rich and creamy. also, the chunks of cookie dough are huge and delicious. Today i had them make me a cookie dough milkshake..um.. to DIE for!! they put whip cream and its just right to drink it! they are a pricy, but its worth every penny!
(5)Ivette B.
The ice cream was delicious! It was thick and creamy with great flavor. We are from out of town but will definitely try to go back before we head home next week.

Oberweisss! How I misjudged you at first.... The first time I came to try Oberweiss was a year ago and I had their cookies and cream. It was not good. at. all. I remember it tasting like oil near the end of my one scoop cone. Until I came back a year later because my friends wanted to try Oberweiss, so I had a sample of the Espresso Caramel Chip ice cream and the Coconut Chocolate Almond ice cream. OMG. Ice Cream I've tried now: 1. Coconut Chocolate Almond - my FAVORITE flavor it's a vanilla coconut based ice cream with chocolate chips and almond pieces. All my favorites in a tub. I got 2 quarts of it. :X 2. Espresso Caramel Chip - coffee and chocolate combo :] I would have liked this better without the caramel it made it too sweet. 3. Blueberry Pie - is more like blueberry pie WITH ice cream. So it has a great vanilla base with blueberry and piece crust interspersed. Some of these flavors are seasonal and it takes some trial and error to find that flavor you like... but All in all, give everything a second try (ask for samples!) and you should be able to find something you like :D Oberweiss was absolutely Bombtastic and I hope they never stop making Coconut Chocolate Chip Almond ice cream!

Ice cream was average. The price was way too high for the quality of the product. They cannot touch Ben and Jerry, let alone Baskin Robbins. The service was decent.

Slow inattentive service in a cafe setting that needs a deep cleaning. Everything in this place is sticky and smells bad too. Go elsewhere until they figure out how to "clean up" their act in this busy Gurnee location.

Though a bit expensive at $7 each for a double scoop waffle cone, ingredients are top shelf. The waffle cones were large and packed full of ice cream. My wife had two scoops: pumpkin spice and cotton candy ice cream. She thought that both were delicious. Since Oberweis does not offer pistacho ice cream, I settled on scoops of rocky road that seemed to be composed of chocolate ice cream with chunks of chocolate. It seemed to lack its customary nuts and marshmallow chunks; disappointing though flavorful. I thought that a two scoop serving was a bit too much to finish, but my wife strenuously disagreed. Though I would have been very happy if Oberweis offered pistachio ice cream, I made due. I was very impressed to note that the manager came from behind the counter to visit every table to inquire of his customers if they were satisfied, and if they would like anything else. He also asked children if he could give them a helium filled balloon, and if they wanted one, he asked them to declare their choice of color. When parents and children thanked him for their balloon, he replied: "Thank you for coming to see us." How nice it was to patronize a business that demonstrates its appreciation of its customers; the difference between a three star rating and a four star rating.

Went in on the weekend, the place was pretty empty. A couple of customers besides me and 3 employees. Apparently the only person filling the orders was the person taking the orders...maybe because one was a manager and the other on drive thru? So by the time they got to me, the drive thru girl was asked to help out. GOD FORBID! Eventually I got my sundae, but the attitude when I received it was pretty ridiculous. Sorry, you had to stop doing nothing to assist your coworker. It's Oberweis, so the ice cream is always good. It's just the customer service that is really hit or miss with this one (and any other I've been to). 4 stars for the ice cream 1.5 stars for the service.
