Great assortment of Burgers, wraps, wings... Etc. a small fry will feed a whole table. I suggest the Parmesan fries. You can sub chicken on any burger. I had the EL Diablo. Good sized burgers. Military discount. Diner atmosphere and staff was very nice and helpful. Took pictures for us. It was dead when we got there, busy when we left. It's is a small space but, it didn't cause any issues. Definitely try it.

The Good: Shakes and malts are awesome! They make them to order so you may be done with your meal before your shake arrives, but they are worth the wait. Fries are great as well. The Bad: The best part of the "burger" was the bun. When you have burger in the name of your restaurant, you should probably serve a good burger. Sadly this is not the case. While they have a never ending variety of burgers, the "burger" part is where they fall down. The burger patty is over done and pressed flat on a flat top. I had a single cheeseburger and ate less than half. My kids ordered other burgers and enjoyed them more than me, but still ate less than half each. Wife ordered the Caesar salad described as "not bad, just odd" they put chicken fries on it which she seemed to enjoy. youngest child ordered Italian Beef and I have to say this was close to the worst Italian beef ever. More of a french dip than Italian beef (not a good french dip either). The Ugly: Very loud and small. Very small. No clear direction as to the process. If you are reading this review and choose to go there for shakes and fries, Here is how it works to the best of my ability to figure it out. Enter off Center street cashier takes your order, writes it down then rings it up. There is a counter but it is not clear if you can sit there and order or if you need to order first then sit at counter. After ordering you are given a number and you find a table. If you happen to have more than 4 people in your party you are out of luck. They do not have the ability to handle parties larger than 4. Lets get back to this part where the cashier writes down your order like he was standing at your table taking your order....but hes not....he is standing in front of the cash register...he then rings up your order. A complete waste of time. Unsolicited advice to the owners: Invest in a POS and stop turning your beef patties into hockey pucks

I first visited Twisted Burger's McHenry location and ordered a burger and fries to go. Unfortunately, they put the "bushel" of fries on top of the burger in my bag, so by the time I got home 15 minutes later, the burger was a dripping, soggy mess that I couldn't stomach to eat. Since this was just a poor packaging decision, I decided to give Twisted Burger another chance. This time I visited the Grayslake location and dined in. From my perspective, Twisted Burger has one of the hardest part of restaurants figured out: finding unique concepts that entice your hunger like never before, such as a burger with italian beef and giardinera or a burger with a Denver cheese omelet on it. Who woulda thunk it? They have about 25 strange, unique, and tantalizing burgers to choose from and it was a daunting task to decide (not to mention they have another 30 or so sides and other entrees to choose). I enjoyed pouring over the menu, but in the back of my mind I could only think of what a nightmare inventory must be for such a small restaurant. As I sat down to wait for my burger and fries, I noticed a stack of potato boxes near the front of the door which only confirmed my inclination. The large burger and bushel of fries came out about 10 minutes later and looked quite delicious. The fries are of massive proportion and have a tasty seasoning on them. However... actually biting into the burger is when I just can't give this place a 5 star rating. Lets talk about the most important ingredient: the beef. Unfortunately, the beef patty on my burger was probably one notch above the burger meat I got in my high school cafeteria. It was large, but very, very mediocre in quality. It was flat and dry. I wasn't expecting filet mignon on a bun, but definitely better than what I received. In my opinion, even the Fratello's in Volo has markedly better beef than Twisted. The toppings on the burger were quite good. The guacamole, salsa, jalapenos were delicious. I would have preferred to have the lettuce, tomato, and onion on the side (as most sit-down restaurants do) as only the lettuce and onion could have added to my enjoyment of the burger. I was disappointed that the lettuce was a straight white iceberg lettuce though, like the lower portion of the kind you buy in a head at the grocery store. It didn't add much to the burger in terms of taste nor desirable texture. Also, the cleanliness of the restaurant could have been better. Have I been in dirtier restaurants? Definitely. But it is an area they could improve on. I noticed that most surfaces around the restaurant looked a little grimey and the floor was quite dirty. Restaurants, like doctor's offices, need to be in near pristine cleanliness to make guests feel comfortable. Never forget that we're putting your product into our bodies, and we need assurances that we are being fed something of high quality and prepared in clean conditions. The cleanliness of the front of the restaurant helps us make that assessment, and therefore it simply cannot be overlooked. The girls working the counter and serving the plates were very speedy, helpful, and friendly. They're doing a great job from a customer service perspective. I really want to like this place. But there are a few key things that need be focused on to make this a truly stand out restaurant. And I'm writing this review because i DO think this place can be truly stand out. They're really close. They've got the concept, they just need to improve upon the execution. I would really like to see Twisted cut their massive menu in half so that they can lower some inventory costs and invest in higher quality ingredients, such as the beef. This way, they can really focus on making a few items that really knock it out of the park. As is said, it's better to do 1 thing really well, than to do 10 things poorly. In the end, I didn't regret my lunch at Twisted, but I guess my expectations were a little bit higher than what was delivered.

I had the Chicago Dog, cheese fries, & a salad. The food was ok. The staff was nice & helpful. Not sure if this is a place I would come back to the next time that I visit my sister.

Little diner-style joint where you order at the counter and then have a seat. Some friends who live in the area recommended we give them a try when we found ourselves in Grayslake at dinner time. Plenty of interesting burger combos to choose from and you can make-your-own as well. The Hubs & I both enjoyed our burgers and they use Turano buns, which are always good in my book. We shared a "small" order of Parmesan Garlic fries as well and they were very good and more than enough to share...we didn't even finish them it was such a huge mound! They also have a lot of different shakes as well but we were too stuffed to even try one. If we lived in the area we would definitely frequent this place, but alas, we do not...

At first I enjoyed my cheese burger and cheese fries. Two hours later, it didn't sit well with my family. It is so greasy, it is an automatic laxative. You are now warned.

This place offers some great burgers! It's very casual, order at the counter, made to order food. There is a plethora of different and unique burger combos as well as the basics. I ordered a Italian beef burger (big beefy) and my husband ordered a bacon cheeseburger sandwiched between two grilled cheese sandwhiches (triple bypass). They were both fantastic. They use fresh hand packed burgers (no frozen) and they are seasoned great. We also ordered chili cheese fries & regular fries. I was so so on the fries. A little on the greasy and "limp" side for me. Smothered in chili, they were good. :) The portions are rather large. My husband & I (we are both big eaters) could have split a burger and large fry and been full.

Hands down one of the best burger places in Lake County! The hand cut fries are awesome. Very family friendly and the service was great. I will be back!!

Seen a lot of good reviews so it was a let down when it came to our visit today. There are many options to choose ... From sandwiches to burgers all with catchy and fun names to go along with them. My GF went with the juicy lucy (burger stuffed with cracker cheese) and I went with the classic double cheese. The small fry order feeds 2 and we had cheese fries Her burger was not cooked well as there were some parts still very pink. My burger was cooked well but lacked any flavor and was VERY big. I should have went with the single. We did have the 'shake of the day' which was pretty good! Don't think I will come back here for burgers and fries. Maybe I'll try the beef next time

I carried out some wings to take over to Light the Lamp brewery. We ordered ahead and walked over from the brewery. The wings were ready when we got there, but there was a line that took about 15 minutes to get through because the credit card machine was out. Other than the long line, the wings were great. We ordered way too many, but still managed to eat them all. There buffalo sauce is good and flavorful without being too spicy. I would definitely order them again.

This place is great. The dining in experience is fun and the staff is always friendly. I usually get take-out, and the only thing I have to say about that is: Don't order fries if you're ordering to-go! They are so much better fresh. The way they are wrapped causes them to get soggy quickly. This isn't a big deal to me since the giant delicious burgers are always more than enough to fill me up!

I've been here twice and have enjoyed my burgers every single time!! The first time I went was last year with my sister in law who lives within walking distance to downtown grayslake. I had the big lebowski and it was divine! I went for a second time with my husband a few months ago and he had the jack sparrow and I had the black widow 2. They do a great job with coming up unique creations for burgers. Mine had cream cheese on it!! I never would have thought to put cream cheese on my burger ! So good! Plus you can beat the price. For 2 burgers and 2 drinks it came up to around 20$. We didn't get fries because I knew from my last visit that we would be stuffed! And we definitely were. It's a cute little place in grayslake with funny old school artwork and signs on the walls. I'll definitely be back to try some more burgers!!

I loved the burgers from Bulldogs, but was very unimpressed by this place now that it is called twisted burger. I had the twisted burger - but the cooks don't know their menu. There was no BBQ sauce, no jalapeños, and they put artichoke on it. To make it even worse, they cooked the beef so much that it could have been used by the Blackhawks for a hockey puck. My wife had the California burger with a vegetarian patty (just skip this place for vegetarians). They only good thing about this place was their cheese fries. They were just as good as when it was Bulldogs. I will not be coming back and will make the longer drive to the real Bulldogs.

Is Twisted Burger now owned by someone else than the owners of Bulldogs in Wauconda? Why the change? Liked Bulldogs!

We were looking for a place to have a burger, and this came up as a Google result for good burgers near us. After browsing the eclectic menu online, we headed to Grayslake. The place itself is divey -- tons of signs on the wall, orders are placed via receipts sent to the kitchen on a clothesline, etc. But that's part of the charm and experience. I had the Juicy Lucy, a burger stuffed with Merkt cheese. It was excellent, though the burger fell apart after one bite. The husband had the Black & Blue, which he raved about. We split a basket of the garlic fries. And by split, I mean we left most of the basket on the table because we were ridiculously full. But, man, those garlic fries are good. Definitely worth visiting.

This is a great neighborhood place. Serves great burgers and other foods you'd expect. Has good salads too. They have creative burgers for everyone. Check their menu, very cool. It's clean! Many of these type of joints are dirty. But this one in Grayslake is clean. There aren't a lot of tables and it can get busy. Many folks will wait for a table but it just is too small a place to do that. Their burgers are great. Their wings are very good too. We'll be back.

Most inconsistent burgers ever. Amazing menu. Execution is lackluster. I've even emailed management numerous times w zero replies. I've been missing food from my to-go bags numerous times as well. I definitely reached a point where I was done wasting my money. This honestly goes for both locations. It's too bad because I tried to love them for a long time. Screw me over more than a couple times and I'm over it.

This is where you die from eating too much. I had a California BLT and the bf had a triple bypass burger (grilled cheese buns with bacon) topped with pulled pork (such a fatty). But everything was so good and juicy. They have some really great options which I can appreciate. I really wanted to try the challenge but I know I wasnt ready. I could hardly finish the burger and fries I had...oh yes the food is HUGE. If it wasnt so far I would go more often. Also you can write on the washroom walls fyi.

This is no longer bulldogs. The staff was friendly and attentive to our needs. The burger however was lacking and dry. Buffalo burger was a 2.0 out of 10. The cheese fries were plentiful at a small but processed cheese needs an update. Wouldn't go back. Red robin even has this twisted failure beat.

We just found this place and are in love. The garlic parmesan fries are amazing. My husband and I could only eat half of our burgers, but hey - lunch for tomorrow! And their shakes are killer. We will be back. A lot.

They should've never let me find out about this place! Predominately a burger joint, they happen to have just about every Chicago "comfort food" you could crave, here. (Well, except pissa.) It'z a small "divey" place! So wear a swimsuit. I imagine it'z jam packed on weekendz. So, i'll continue to come during the week. (HATE crowdz!) You prolly wanna look at the menu on their website before entering. Otherwize, you'll be overwhelmed trying to read from the wall. Believe it or not, they almost have TOO MANY optionz. But I assure you, you can't go wrong with anything you pick. Either eat inside for the full experience, or take it out to your jalopy of a car. But PLEAZE don't take it home. (No bueno in ju casa!) Oh, and don't come without your appetite. You will need it. And if you're worried about your waistline... pleaze stop reading n--

Pretty good burgers for a fast food type joint. Not the best tasting I've had for this type of burger place. They need to select a different type of beef/chop meat kinda dry and lacking some flavor.

Awesome place and food!! Burgers are Delish! I was not able to order my burger rare which was disappointing. Everything was smothered with cheese it was amazing! The best unhealthy eating I've done in a long time. If you have the chance to stop by it's enthusically recommended!!

This is my favorite burger place. 50's decor. Buble on the stereo. Why would you go to fast food or even Five Guys when there is such a place. The burger menu is huge! I have gotten to about a fifth of the menu...because I have gotten repeat items. Garlic fries are so awesome! Fries are fresh cut and fried. The burgers are juicy and delicious! Do yourself a favor and stop by. Oh, be sure to get the small fries....it is ginormous!

No longer at this location. It is now a "Twisted burger" and it sucks. Not worth it, don't go there.

Upon entering twisted burger you will notice a certain fecal smell in the air do not let this fool you this is the burger for you when ordering please be sure to order exactly as the menu states as the freakin water head behind the counter will screw your order up. I guarantee you'll find yourself relaxing and enjoying in their spacious dining area and enjoying there table side service. Once you take your your first bite you will understand why there is a line to the shitter. I highly recommend stall 2 as stall 1 and 3 are under heavy cleanup construction. I know you will think your dying but trust me the cramping will stop in 20-30 mins and the rectal bleeding will subside in 2-3 days. I have never eaten such a large burger and lost weight.....

Scanning through some of the other reviews it is obvious that some people would complain if they were hung with a new rope. Those that prefer or are used to over processed and homogenized food might not enjoy the fresh prepared meals at Bulldog's. I particularly love the old time diner feel at Bulldog's and the selection. My experience with the fries was that they were delicious and could-be-addictive. Of course if "fries" for you are what they serve at Mickey D's, you may or may not like these fresh cut fries with skin on. They suited my taste buds fine- thanks very much. The only negatives that I can report are that they are very busy on the weekends- sometimes the ordering line stretches to the door, and because of this it's not unusual to have to wait 20-30 minutes from the time you place your order to when it is served. Having said that, I felt that the wait was worth it...as another reviewer said, definitely not fast food. I could hardly fit the burger into my mouth for the first bite- unless you have a truck driver hearty appetite, sharing one of these mammoth sandwiches might be the ticket. Check the pic that I posted of the "Bob Marley" burger that I ordered. This is one of those cases where a picture really does speak a thousand words.

Dont do it! ZERO stars. After a day of travelling, I stopped into Bulldogs late and ordered a burger and fries to go. When I got home to eat my food, I found my fries were soaked in the black grease from the bottom of the fryer. It was like they were cleaning out the fryer and served me the waste. I returned the next day with this trash and asked to speak with a manager. No supervisors were at work and the inmates were running the asylum. Rather than apologising or trying to make things right, they laughed in my face. I tired a few times to call the manager, but could never reach him on the phone. Needless to say, we've never been back.

This place seriously has the best burgers EVER! My husband I recently moved to Grayslake, and I think the thing I was most excited about was being closer to Bulldogs! The BEST burger combo (this might sound gross, but try it!) is the Scarlett Johansson with NO jalapenos (I don't like spicy) and grilled onions instead. It is so freaking good, I can't even explain it! Fries are also delicious. Staff is fun. Love this place!

Went there for the 1st time on Friday. Overall, great food had the juicy burger, stuffed with merkets cheese, delicious and the garlic fries, also good, but the large portion was huge! I just wish they served beer, that would have topped it off!

WOW!!! I finally got to try this place out. And so happy I did. The kids and I went in yesterday. It was pretty busy for it being 3pm on a Monday. The place is small but charming. The employees are lovely. The girl at the register who rung me up was awesome. Very nice and helpful. I ordered the area 51 burger (Cheeseburger with green chilis and guacamole) . It was delicious!! The kids shared the mini burgers. Which they loved. A few tables down we watched a group of teenage boys do a hot wing challenge. Which was hilarious. We got a show with our meal. We will definitely be back!!

Great selection of burger combinations and good portions. Overall I'd give their food 3 stars for taste and quality but they earn an extra star for the 50% off military deal they do everyday.

If you are looking for some variations on a plain old burger this is the place to come.Too many good tasting combinations to try them all. Food: I have had a few of their burgers and I have to say they are good. Big Fat Greek burger was great. Big and Beefy was very good. Mac Daddy was OK. Big Lebowski was very good. Scarlet Johansson was great. I am not a big "fry-guy" but they are good and they give you an abundance of them. I understand that their shakes and malts are very good as well. Service: Good service here. This is NOT fast food. They make your burger to order so it does take a few minutes to get everything. Atmosphere: Clean, bright, colorful lots of stuff to keep your eyes busy. Casual crowd. Downtown Grayslake location makes it even better. Extra: My buddy attempted and beat the Asylum Wing Challenge. They never posted his picture on the wall until I came in with my own printed picture of him as he finished the challenge. They still owe him a t-Shirt. Com-on guys. He amped up the excitement of your lunch crowd and ruined his weekend (from a G.I. perspective). Don't have challenges if you don't plan on following through with the picture on the wall and the t-shirt. That's 90% advertising for you and 10% fun/crazy for the folks who attempt your contest. Lost a star for that. Overall: Great burger place. Inexpensive to moderate in price. Burger drink and fries will cost you over $10 - $15.

SUPER, DELICIOUS BURGER! For my first visit, I ordered one of the specials: Face Melter 1/2 Pound Burger with Pepper Jack Cheese, Fresh Jalapenos, Hellacious Habanero Sauce & Bacon. I thought it was going to be super spicy... turned out I was wrong. So, I gave it a 4... But, it was so delicious! Come out here if you are in the mood for a nice, delicious burger. Beware, there are very limited healthy options. So, make sure sure you're a-okay with that. I will definitely come out here for my lunch breaks!

Just ate at the Wauconda store could not believe how dirty this place was the food was good but I couldn't stop wondering how dirty the kitchen area must be if the dining room was so bad the floor looked like it had not been mopped in months will not eat there again way to sketchy EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK should be posted at the door

Good burgers, but with health reservations. The 'tasty burger' menu is huge just like their portions. The also have wings, salads, Italian beef, wraps, and other goodies. The food is great - if you are not worried about your cholesterol. They have a 10 hot wing challenge, but the catch is that you cannot have anything to drink during the challenge. The duck fries that they serve on Fridays are very rich. Would I eat there again, probably not - I don't need to have a heart attack while enjoying my burger.

Bulldogs has unbelievable hamburgers with anything on them you could possibly want. Today I was introduced to the miss piggy it was way way better than it sounds. Hey Miss piggy is a hot dog wrapped in bacon then deep fried then put on a bun and covered with pulled pork. A friend of mine tried the miss piggy and gave me a piece. That is what I'll be getting the time for sure you will love bulldogs

This Bulldogs location in Grayslake just opened. I have not been to the other Bulldogs, thus this was a first timer experience for me. Bulldogs is going for the dinner look, complete with counter, the typical nostalgic pictures, furniture and greasy, comfort type foods. As you walk in, to the right there are two, huge menus jammed packed with all sorts of eats. All types of burgers, wings, pulled pork, sausages, philly's, a little bit of Mexican, a few salads and several wraps. All of which can be chased down with a fountain drink or shake. Being this was my first trip, I ordered a ruler item. Which is an item that can be found on "most" menus and thus enabling me to judge between places. So, I went with the Black N Blue burger, and it came as I liked it... somewhat blacked on the outside, good and rare in the middle and loaded.. and in this case, really loaded with real, chunky blue cheese. The burger itself is big, and as advertised, freshly made which sat between a great tasting roll. The condiments on the burger, lettuce, tomatoe and grilled onions were of also good quality. For a side, I kept it simple, and just wen with the cheesy fries and they were really good too. These fries are the type with the evince of the skin on them, they were slightly greasy and smothered in cheese... but yummy. I chased all this down with a good, vanilla shake which was thick... a bit chunky perhaps, but that's fine by me. Clearly, their signature plate is the burger... the menu lists out all sorts, such as Triple bypass burger, my big fat greek burger, big Lebowski, The Godfather, Fajita and Shoomer, which I'll be coming back to try several of them out. Perhaps even take the Bulldog challenge, which is, four, half pound burgers, stuffed with grilled onions, and pepper jack cheese, smother in bbq sauce and 12 pieces of bacon. Which is topped with jalapeño cream cheese, and a big slab of onion rings. This comes with one pound of hand cut fries smothered in cheese and chili. If you finish all this in 30 min, your forever memorialized on their wall of fame. As for the atmosphere of Bulldogs, it was pleasant as was the staff. They are still working out a few of the kinks in being a new establishment, but we didn't run into anything overly inconvenient. My only gripe is they really packed in the tables, perhaps one too many, so do expect it to be jammed packed during the typical rush hour meal times in downtown Grayslake. I for one am glad to see another new place in Grayslake.

Yes! Burgers that taste amazing and VARIETY under one roof! I get so TIRED of craving a burger and having to choose between the same old tired options. Mushroom Swiss, bacon cheddar, regular Joe Schmo burger... *sigh* Then.. A beacon of hope... Bulldogs in Grayslake. I cannot describe how awesome it is to walk into a place and be stared down with so many burger and hot dog choices - your mouth immediately salivates and you just want to order it all! I have tried several choices - among my favorites are The Area 51, the Swerski special, and the Bob Marley - I could eat that as my last meal with the garlic fries. The diner is small (hence the missing star-the seating is not ideal) like really small. So going in at a peak time will leave you with little seating option. The ambiance is really fun, though! We thoroughly enjoy every experience here - and the management and staff are friendly as can be! This is easily one of our all time favorites. Go try something different - your taste buds will thank you!

Tasty tiny dive of a burger joint. A chalkboard is literally chalked full of burger options that seems to overflow with other options across the burgery bistro. The vibe was retro diner meets hometown support restaurant with no space to fit a lot of people so they leave the bread stacked near the entry way while you pray to find a seat kind of a place. I went with the California BLT burger. I liked it. I was surprised by how much flavor the burger had. I avoided the fries because the small order could feed a small army and the large could solve hunger problems for many parts of the world. The burgers came up quick and the servers were very friendly. If you like to eat burgers, wings or wraps and you don't mind a hodgepodge still looking to figure itself out for about $7 a burger - then come on it. It's a tasty time.

I've been several more times now and they put out a pretty darn good burger, and those fries, even the small, are huge! Serves 3-4 easily. Still too cramped though. Expand, expand!

If you love grease this is the place. There hotdogs are better than dogs-n-suds and their milkshakes are to die for!!! And let's not talk about their amazing cheese fries! The small order of cheese fries can fill 5 hungry kids stomachs. ! Great prices too.

Give yourself time to read through their whole chalkboard menu which changes frequently. This is not your regular burger place, this is the place you go when you want a REAL burger. Their creations are never ending, my first burger there was topped with macaroni and cheese... oooh so good! Prices are decent, especially counting the burger portions are pretty large. There isn't a ton of seating and it tends to get pretty full during prime hours but service is good and quick.

This place has really good burgers, with a great selection, tons to choose from. They have a turkey jicama salad that is awesome! It's a friendly and fun place to eat. My husband tried their hot wing challenge and failed! It was ridiculously hot and he couldn't make it past the 2nd one before he was regretting this. Their killer garlic fries are addictive. Enjoy this place.

I don't get it... I could not wait to try this place after all my friends raved about it. I would have to say it is average at best. We went last Friday night, we have never been in there before so I looked at the menu online. I had an idea of what I wanted but still was not 100% sure. My husband, son and I went in. Didn't realize how small it was, it is very narrow. We stepped up to the counter and I totally forgot what I wanted. I had no idea where the menu was and the people behind the counter were not any help (did not even crack a smile or direct me where the menu was). So I order a bacon cheeseburger, my husband an double cheeseburger and my son the kids chicken tenders. We sat down towards the back (very limited seating). First thing I noticed was the retina burning red lights. They were horrible. I think it is to keep people from sitting around too long. Then going to get my drink, I had to wait for the person in front of me to fill their 5 cups they were filling, as I was standing, I was trying not to bump into the people sitting and eating their food right next to the soda machine (not to mention all the butts in their faces while they are eating). Finally our food came, had no idea that there was mustard, ketchup, lettuce, onions and tomato on each burger. So I scrapped off what I could, took a bite and was totally disappointed. No flavor, the bacon was limp and did not taste like anything, it was so disappointing. If I wanted a fried burger I could go anywhere and spend a lot less (3 people, 2 burgers, Kids meal, one order of fries (we shared) 2 drinks, $30!!! It got so crowded and loud and my eyes were burning that I did not enjoy it at all. Again, wanted to and from reading all the reviews I just don't get it. One positive note, the fries were wonderful (they were fries that taste just like Sammies in Round Lake). I won't go back.

Ok, so I kinda dig this place a lot but can't do the full five yet. Came here twice and ordered the same thing so I guess that's good. The menu is a little overwhelming at first but no biggie. The prices are decent and the staff is nice and helpful. Oh, fries are huge, so are the burgers. I ordered $18 of food just for me and almost died happily. Barkley burger is goooood

First time here, wife and I split the Area 51 burger and the Chicken Hijack sandwich, not sure how we settled on these 2 as there are about 50 more options to choose from. Crazy good. Service was quick and pleasant. Would definitely come back here and try another option if we ever back in Grayslake.

I am relocating to the area soon, so we were anxious to try out some of the local places. I love a good burger, so this place sounded perfect. However, I would say there are a few issues: First, the place is very narrow and crowded so you can't get your soda filled up without having like 4 people bump into you or needing you to move. For some this would be no biggie, but I HATE being bumped into so it bothered me a bit. Second, they have this awful red light in the back which I just round weird. Also the place was loud and hectic. Add this to the crowds, the light, etc. and I felt a bit overwhelmed. Last you order at the counter and we had to wait a good bit for our food. The burger I had was okay. I got the buffalo black n blue. The burger was greasy but good, but the sauce on the burger was very peppery and not so hot wing tasting to me. It was fine, just not one of the better burgers I have had. Fries were like 5 Guys - fresh cut and fried. Not bad. Overall, I don't see me rushing back.

Stopped in for lunch during the week. We were the only people in line, so it was easy to read the board/menu and figure out what we wanted to eat. When we stepped up to the counter to order, it took a little bit of time for someone to wander over to help. Burgers were good. Juicy with nice flavor. Ordered both garlic fries and cheese fries, huge mistake. Seriously, if you're going to sell small and large orders, why does the small need to feed at least 3 people? Note: if possible, DO NOT sit anywhere near the menu. People will continually walk up close to your table in order to read it. Hovering people near your food just isn't right. Would return again if in the area, but based upon experience and other reviews I would probably not go during a high traffic time.

Not only do they have a crazy amount of different burgers, they're really good quality. Also, they will give you way more fries than you need.

Now considering I am a HUGE fan of Man vs Food - this place has become my Mecca! Where else can you come for outrageous selections of burgers (36 if my feeble math skills are right!) All of the great unthinkable combinations of ingredients that just shouldn't go on a burger that I have seen Adam Richman of MVF attempt are on the menu. Now he didn't actually come to Bulldogs but the burgers here are just like the many that have filled his belly. The place is not so big and groups of larger than 4 won't find a place to sit together, but takeout is always an option. The food: Highway to Hell Burger: Large charness of carnivore beauty. While I now feel a bit weighed down, this was freeeaaakkkiiinnnngggg awesome! It had just the right amount of heat for this spicy guy! Slap Yo' Momma Burger: All that is needed to say is Bacon and Grilled Onions The fries while probably not the healthiest were...oh HELL, I didn't come here thinking about my cholesterol anyway! Miss Piggy Nightmare Dog - ummm a bacon wrapped dog smothered in pulled pork! Holy Hyenas! Another must try is the Baconator - anything wrapped in bacon is bliss, but smother it in chili too - over the top! There are so many choices of burgers, dogs, wings, wraps, salads, and desserts that your head will spin! In the upcoming week, I shall destroy the Asylum Wings Challenge. 10 measly wings. Low success rate. Wall of Fame with photo. BRING IT ON SON!

This place has a tremendous variety of burgers to choose from. I had a California-style burger with cheese, tomato, lettuce, friend egg and avocado: really tasty! The burger was cooked well and very juicy. They also have a tremendous variety of fries. I had the duck fat fries with rosemary which tasted great although they were a little soggy. Beverage selection is decent. Service was friendly and efficient. Would go back!

Ok so I'll be the bad guy and leave a bad review. I went there and ordered two hot dogs and a fry! The hot dog was cold and undercooked. The fries were overcooked and hard to eat. I forced myself to eat one hot dog and just left the rest of my food on the table. I was going to complain however the kid behind the counter seemed to be more worried about counting his tips then looking up at customers at the counter! My advise to them is retrain the staff on cooking and lose the "Eisenberg" hotdogs. They taste terrible!

Huge menu! There is just about any kinda burger you could want. Fresh cut fries, ice cream and Malts. A cute 50s style diner with a twist. The only downside to this location is that you can't order a beer.

I have been here 3 or 4 times and it has never disappointed. Today, my wife and I took my mother in law here for her first time. I had a zombie burger, my wife got one with pulled pork and coleslaw on it and I don't remember what my M.I.L. got. We also got fries and drinks. Everyone was stuffed and happy when we left. My M.I.L. said it best when she said that she won't normally drive somewhere just for the food, but she would be back for this place. Yes the diningroom is crowded and you get your own drinks, but is how it is here. If you want a server checking on you every 5 minutes go somewhere else, if you want one of the best burgers in Lake County come here.

Outstanding burgers with a vast menu and creative combinations give this place a clear edge in the entire Northern suburbs. This is a multiple napkin type of place as the burgers are ultra juicy (as they should be). The fries are skin on, home cut style which I really like as well. Friendly service and welcoming....highly recommended.

My son and I visited Bulldogs for the first time today. He had heard about it and read very positive reviews. It was very cold, and windy, yet the place was jammed. You walk in and get in line to order. While in line, you read a massive menu on the wall which is over tables of patrons eating their meals, and then you place your order and watch for an open table. Bottom line: we really enjoyed it! I ordered a basic double cheeseburger not knowing each burger patty is a half-pound of fresh ground beef made every day. My son ordered a single basic cheeseburger, and it was "plenty". Plus we ordered a small basket of fresh-cut fries, and it too, was perfect for the two of us. It was delicious and we will definitely go back. It's nice to find a place that just does it "right". Their quality product deserves the good reviews that it gets!

Best burgers in the area hands down! There is an entire wall of their specialty burgers so it's makes it really hard to choose from, they all sound delicious. They also have burger specials which I had (the firehouse). I saw it at the service window and I said to myself, I hope that one isn't mine because it was so huge and of course it was. Burgers do not come with fries, you have to order them extra but for a good reason. The burgers are so massive you don't have room left for them. We will definitely be repeat customers

My wife and I tried Bulldogs tonight for the first time. We had mixed reviews on the food but more on that later. Our first impression upon walking in was confusion. There were 3 employees behind the counter, none of them acknowledged our presence. Being our first time there we were unsure if it was seat yourself, hostess seating, or order at the counter. The menu is large but on the opposite wall from the counter/register/ordering station. After staring at the menu for 5+ minutes we decided on our order and approached the counter. After staring at the staff for a few moments someone finally came over to take our order. My initial order was for a burger that had chili on it (as do many menu items). The employee told me they were out of chili so I turned to look at the menu, quickly decided, and started to place my order but the employee had apparently lost interest in me in less than 5 seconds and returned to her ongoing conversation with her coworkers. I ordered the double d burger, 2 beef patties, american cheese, bacon, grilled onions, lettuce, and tomato. The beef was well seasoned and juicy but my burger had been cut/broken, possibly to check doneness, and fell apart when I picked up the sandwich. I also got the garlic fries which were also very good though a little heavy on parmigiano cheese. My wife got a plain hot dog, same as every other in the Chicago metro area, and cheese fries. The fries were completely covered with fake cheese sauce and were almost inedible. Overall my food was good and I'm willing to give it another try. Perhaps next time I'll try the wauconda location in hopes the staff is friendlier and more welcoming. I felt like I was interrupting the staff at the Grayslake location and that they would've been happier standing in an empty restaurant talking to each other without the inconvenience of customers.

Great burgers, great fries, cool atmosphere, and a good place for dinner. We have been here a few times and have never been disappointed. There is a range of fun named burgers, so many choices that there has to be one for you. Prices are good, we can get out of there in under $25 for two. Love the cheese fries, but hands down the garlic fries are the best!

After missing good dogs and beefs like we used to get in the city, this place is a great find. Their Italian beef is some of the best I've had...highly recommended! Just tell them to NOT toast your bun for the beef...sacriligious for this dish!

Edit - After a rough burger the first time around, I ordered my "burger" with a chicken breast this time. Had the Scarlett Johansson - the combination of jalapenos, cream cheese, and barbecue sauce was pretty fantastic. I would highly recommend. Didn't order the fries because of my first visit, but sampled a friend's; still pretty rough. Sandwich was great but going to need to find some more things on the menu worth while to upgrade past 3 stars.

Excellent addition to Grayslake's small downtown. It replaces a truly lousy joint that was housed in the same location. I didn't care for the Buffalo Chicken sandwich, but everything else has been very good. The cheeseburger reminds those of us who've reached a certain age what cheeseburgers were like before the advent of mass-produced frozen glop that passes for burgers in most places today. The interior has a nice retro feel to it, and the employees are generally friendly and helpful. It's good to have Bulldogs in town.

Bulldog was very crowded when I went there for takeout. The line was about 5 people out the door. All tables were full. I squeezed through to get my order. I got a slap yo mama burger, fries and a shake. The shake was good, but yeah they are a bit pricey. The burger was good, but I would not call it great. They have some unique flavor in their meat. I think it is Worcester and apple vinegar, that makes it novel, but not the best burger I ever had. The fries were so greasy and soggy I could not eat them, had to pitch em. I will go again if there isn't any line. I also ordered a Scarlet Jo burger, I was told that one was very good. .... OK, I went back and got a Mrs. Piggy's nightmare. It was pretty good. The BBQ pork really added to the fried hot dog with bacon. Had another scarlet Jo burger, man did it ever have the biggest piece of cream cheese on it... pretty good. The buns seem a bit too soft to handle all of the stuff they put on these burgers. I think this is a major burger weakness. A different kind of bun could possibly hold all of the toppings on as you try to eat it without falling apart. Take-out may also affect the bun falling apart.

  • David M.

Mmmmm, burgers, and these are good f@#%ing burgers! These people will put just about anything on a burger so they have about a hundred different choices on their menu. Two complaints: the menu tells you the toppings coming on the burger you order but some still come with toppings not listed like mustard and onion. . . If its not on the menu, don't put it on the burger. Two: I ask to try the ghost chile sauce that comes on their wing challenge every time I'm in there and every time they tell me I can only try it if I take the challenge. I just want to try it!

My husband and I went to Bulldogs recently and ordered two burgers and a side a fries. My husband ordered the Highway to Hell Burger and I ordered the Area 51 Burger. The fries we ordered were the Hillbilly Fries. Let me begin by saying that both my husband and I love spicy food -- really spicy food. He has a higher pain tolerance than I do, but I am definitely above your average spicy food lover. When we received our burgers, my husband took one bite of his burger and looked at me and said: "Uh oh." It was painful to watch him eat the burger. Not only was it unbearably spicy, he said it was so doused in Habenero Sauce that there was no other flavors to be enjoyed (the meat, the bun, the onion or the pepperjack cheese). He hated it (and he doesn't hate anything ever). Now for someone who likes to show off and eat the hottest thing on the menu, this is for you. But for someone who actually wants a burger that has flavor and is delicious with a great kick -- DO NOT ORDER THIS. As for my burger, I had the exact same reaction as him. Now again, I have a smaller pain tolerance so I maintain that if he had ordered my burger - he would have enjoyed in immensely. However, I do want to point out two things. The Area 51 burger says it is made with green chiles. I had jalapenos on my burger. Green Chiles are NOT jalapenos. They are milder than jalapenos. Additionally my burger said it came with guacamole. I'm not sure what Bulldogs considers guacamole but I got what looked and tasted more like a salsa verde. Needless to say, I was very unhappy with it because I do not feel it was what the menu said it was. Lastly, our fries...they were -- well -- disgusting. The fries themselves were good but the chili on top of them tasted like disgusting canned chili, and the cheese is that god-awful velveeta nacho cheese liquid you get at baseball games and not real melted cheese. We were incredibly disappointed with our meal. The only reason I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 is because my husband has been there before, ordered a different burger, and thought it was pretty good. This was my first time there, however, and was not pleased.

Living super close I really wanted to love this place. Overall it's a great addition to the area with friendly staff and good atmosphere, but the food leaves a bit to be desired. I've visited 3 times and I have to say the Chicken Wings are the best thing I've had, hands down. Juicy and with a great medium and hot sauce, I would highly recommend them. Good burgers but not great as the extensive menu may suggest. Really the most disappointing thing about Bulldogs are the fries. Fresh cut but too soggy and unevenly cooked for my taste. Don't get me wrong, I'll be back for the wings, but i'll pass on the fries.

  • Jojo B.

The meat was ok, which was masked by the countless add ons in the burger. Although the combinations were imaginative, sometimes less is more. Hence I would rather spend my money @ paradise pup. That being said, the food was decent & big portioned. The place was very nice & service was great. Yeah I would come back.

Insanely good!!! A little pricey and a little greasy but worth every bit!!! So many choices could be overwhelming but if you cant find anything on this menu you like you may need to check your pulse!! Staff super friendly also!!! Love it! At busy hours seating may be tricky!

This place definitely has pro's and con's. I really like little restaurants like this that are one of a kind but when I walked in, I didn't really know where to go. Do I seat myself? Do I wait to be seated? I also had no idea if we placed our order at the counter or whether someone would take our order once we sat down. And the staff weren't really helpful with that because they didn't acknowledge my presence when I walked in. The other thing I don't like is that the menu is on the wall above where people are sitting. I think its a really cool idea to put a menu on a chalkboard on a wall and its a really unique thing that other restaurants don't have, but its kind of awkward to stand there and read it while the people who are seated probably feel like they're being stared at. I ordered cheese fries and they were alright. I really wish they didn't put as much cheese on them though- next time I'll get it on the side. My friends said their burgers were delicious though. And we all got milkshakes and they were delicious. Overall, it was a good experience. I just wish the employees were a little bit more welcoming.

Pretty much same as Wauconda location, except smaller. The food is good. Regular burger is huge - too much huge. But a great value. They need to get a different hamburger bun tho' as one used now soaks thru quickly. We also had the wings and italian beef sandwiches. Not bad at all. Shakes are very good. What's really a downer about this place (and same complaint from others about the Wauconda location) is the fries. Bad. Really bad. Looked like they were fried in oil from a Jiffy Lube drain pit. Dark, greasy and limp. We didn't eat them either time we were there. Claim to be fresh cut, and probably are, but whatever was "fresh" about those potato slices was greased out of existence. During weekdays at lunch time, very crowded. Saturdays really crowded, and hordes of little kids. This place is a kid's dream. Very diner like, lots of "stuff" going on. But it can take forever to get your order. Fast food, this is not. The girls taking orders are not real swift, either. They have to hand-write every order and slide the paper back to the kitchen on a clothesline wire. And when kids are involved, ordering can take forever as it did when we were there. One couple with their two kids (and what appeared to be a mother-in-law) took nearly 5 minutes to order. The line standing behind them was out the door. So, it's new in Grayslake and once the novelty wears off and management gets a handle on the 10W30 problem in the deep fryers, it should get better. And they need to replace the door in front with a larger one. If people had to leave this place in a hurry, good luck.

With the thirty burgers on the menu, great fries and plenty of beverage, Bulldogs is a great choice for a burger in Grayslake. The menu is also kid friendly and a family of four can eat for well under $30.

  • Vicki L.

The meat makes the burger...While Bulldog has an extensive menu, I opted for a classic cheeseburger, fries, and chocolate shake. The burger was outstanding. I am not sure how others gave poor reviews. Sure it's crowded...for a reason... the food is great.

Solid local burger joint. Love the hangover burger with the fried egg. Their fries could use some work, potential is there but they're often limp and not crispy. Decent option in Grayslake for dinner, but not much seating inside.

Stopped in twice now. The owner and employees are excellent. The food came out hot and fresh, hardly any wait at all. The menu it all wall - so you have to stand like a loon and stare a the wall for a moment. The menu has many, many variations of a burger, even some I haven't seen in my tender years in the part of the galaxy. I ordered the pub burger. It satisfied my longing for a realllly good pub burger, complete with a medium done egg on top. The fries are not my style. They are not done, delivered to the table hot, but mushy and with enough grease to make me sick. I could only eat a few. My idea of fries are cooked golden brown, not grease soaked. This is the style at Bulldogs , and many must know better than me. We will return. Maybe I could sneak in some MacDonalds fries next time? Price is right on, selection is great. Oh, come at at off hour or you will be standing in line. Micro size seating area. Nice if you can get a seat, then you can watch others stare at the "Wall of burgers" menu.

  • C H.

Lots of selections on the menu, and they can make any of the burgers with a veggie burger. I got the wrap with portobello & veggies, which was pretty good. My husband thought the burgers were good, but not the best he has had. The only downside was that it was extremely crowded, and the ordering process was a little hectic. It might be better if they take orders at the tables instead of the counter to avoid the long lines.

When you walk in, you sense the cool vibe this burger joint has. You can get any kind of burger you want, thousands of combinations here - and they are all great! Their numerous chalkboards describe each of their signature burgers, each with a cool sounding name. I had the Jamaican me crazy burger with a pineapple and some type of hot sauce (think they called it jungle ooze sauce). It was not hot, just a nice spicy contrast to the sweet pineapple. IT is awesome! My wife had the slap yo mama burger that had cheddar, applewood bacon, something else too and was excellent - though had to remind my 2 young boys that they could not slap their mama, even if they took a bite out of it. The boys had mini burgers and they loved them - and guess what, they rather come to this place than get a "happy meal". Wow, still in shock on that one. We had a basket of tasty garlic fries, but they also have cheesy fries, chili fries, you name it. Oh,and they also have non-burger sandwiches too, but I have not tried those yet. We are now regulars!

Maybe Sunday nights is their off-night? cramped seating was about 90% full, the line up to the register was a few people deep.. my problem, being this was the very first time there, I was trying to keep in queue all the while..stretching over while squinting my eyes in order to make sense of two really badly written menu signs.. by the time I had some idea of what I wanted.. the girl at the register told us that half of their menu they were out of.... figured I would ask for a standard patti melt... got a "fatty patty".. really nice bun, pretty sure from a local baker... (I do like it when places put the lettuce tomato onion on the side.. so you can fix your burger how you like.. ) no chance here.. and it was kind of skimpy fixings... (raw onions on a patti melt?) got some really greasy fries along with lots of burn bits & remaining dredging from the fryer... burger was good size & med rare.. but had no taste or any seasonings... willing to give the place another try.... please improve or else I'm going back to Red Robin... and you have much more potential...

Awesome! I discovered this a few months ago and wish I had known about it all the years I lived in the area. The milkshakes are real, fresh and delicious. The burgers are yummy and there is so much on the menu that looks good that I haven't even tried yet because there are so many options. Ambience: crowded, busy, family friendly, casual. Don't go there for a quiet or refined dinner. Oh and the dogbite chili is disappointing. But, every burger I have had there has been great. And try the fries made in duck fat on Fridays. Yum!

I definitely didn't like this place. Maybe it was over hyped, maybe it's because I grew up eating Portillos burgers, or maybe it's because I'm a picky eater. Not sure what the real reason was because I couldn't figure it out. I took about 5 or 6 bites and had to stop because the smell of the burger coming up to my mouth smelled horrible and the taste was exactly the same. I asked my dad to try it out and he took 2 bites and said he couldn't put his finger on it either but he didn't like the taste as well. Maybe its a seasoning they put in the meat? I couldn't tell. But I didn't like it. The garlic fries was were ok, they weren't the best, but it was something that was edible. I wont be back again.

I went and got a burger (Slap Yo Mama). It was so greasy I couldn't even eat half--it kept slipping off the bun and you should not have to eat your burger with a knife and fork. I split cheese fries with a coworker and they were so saturated with cheese you couldn't even see the fries. We were both sick within ten minutes. I may consider going back to try it again, but I wouldn't order either item again.

Fun place for a burger, lots of choices, I find the fries to be greasy and soggy but I do order them anyway. A small order is enough for two, maybe three people. What's a burger without fries. The shakes are great, made with real ice cream. A definite go to place.

  • Parker P.

Been there 4 times....hamburgers are good, but not the best....maybe it's the best in Grayslake. Fries are awful..always soggy and never completely done...wings are great. They should take the "local made" root beer off the menu...everytime I've been there they have runout...that's because the space is so small they cannot store any back of anything. Most of the girls working there are really sweet and helpful. Is this place worth waiting in line out the door for....definitely not.

    (2)
  • Bernardo S.

I would have to agree with many on the fries but the garlic parmesan fries are pretty darn good still if you ask me. Love the variety of burgers you can try and the only other negative I would say is the size of this place... just way to hard to go in with the family and take a seat.

    (4)
  • Scott R.

Incredible, sometimes outrageous burgers (Cory's Mom is a favorite) and some pretty tasty wings. I've found some of the non-burger sandwiches to be inconsistent and sometimes disappointing (steak wrap with little steak and an extremely skimpy St. Patty's day Reuben). But the burgers and over-the-top fries will keep me coming back.

This is just what Grayslake needed!!! A cute diner. Great burgers....but fyi, they are HUGE!!! 9 ozs plus all the toppings. I have been their 2x and have been very happy both times. Fries are good too....nothing to write home about but I did not find them like some reviewers said. They were tasty. The kids love the food and the atmosphere. I would highly recommend!

  • Kasey S.

The burger was ridiculously huge. How can anyone get their mouth around all that?! Are you supposed to eat it with a knife and fork? The fries were greasy, soggy, and burnt. The most disgusting set of of fries. Also ordered the chicken tenders with the buffalo sauce. They were soggy and the sauce has a really weird metal taste to it. I felt like I could have microwaved tenders and they would have been better. Oh, and finally, the fries were probably burned because the staff was too busy jacking around and wasn't paying attention to the cooking!
