Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

I was really wanting to get my gut full of Chinese food, so I was very disappointed when they said that they no longer served from the buffet, menu orders only. Hmmmm how can I be miserable for the rest of the day without a buffet. They have a lunch serving size, I got the cashew chicken, after I picked out the celery she told me that I could have asked for no celery. It was delicious and plentiful. White rice and a uneventful fortune cookie. Spring rolls were tasty.

The food is great. They make it fresh, and the ingredients are of a better quality than other Chinese buffets in the area. They have all of the old standbys (general chicken, crab rangoon, etc), but they also have some really unique dishes. I really like these little dessert balls that are filled with black beans and rolled in sesame seeds. In addition to the buffet, the menu items are all extremely good and reasonably priced. They have excellent egg drop soup, which (with hot tea) is how I survived a couple of winters. Here is what really makes the place: First, the dumpling sauce. Order the dumplings off of the menu. The dumplings are good on their own, but there is this magic sauce. It's like soy sauce, but syrupy and sweet. It's AMAZING. No other place has it. They have a sauce guy who is coveted by other restaurants. I'm pretty sure he is Kelly's husband. Second, and MOST important, is Kelly. No other restaurant has Kelly. Everyone loves here. She is always energetic and happy. She's funny as heck. If you come in with any frequency, she'll have your drink order memorized. I love walking in with family and hearing her yell "Water, Coke, Coke, Tea". I'm always surprised that she remembers. Kelly sort of IS the experience. We don't even refer to the place as "China Wok". We just say, "Let's go to Kelly's".

Food was different than most Chinese buffets, but the selection was small. Taste was okay. The other Chinese buffet in Alton is way better and has a bigger selection.

I love this place, their food, and the lady that runs it!

Kelly is the owner. You'll feel like you've known her forever. If you dont see exactly what you want on buffet, just tell Kelly. They'll cook anything you want, even if you're on a special diet.

We've lived in the Godfrey/Alton area for 2 years now and finally found good asian food. We didn't expect to find authentic food at a place with such a generic name. I ordered the pho and it was delicious and in a huge bowl. The owner said her pho broth is simmered for a full 24 hours, and I can tell the difference. My wife ordered beef and broccoli which was also good. They have a full menu of normal Chinese food, plus three Vietnamese dishes. I recommend trying this place out. It doesn't look like it, but it's a real find. We will be coming back soon!

The freshest and most authentic "Chinese" Vietnamese food in the riverbend! The only place to get fresh spring rolls in town as well as Fao (awesome!) and a great "bird nest" seafood dish as well. The buffet items are numerous but kept to small portions to keep all the food fresh. Re stocked all day and short waits for anything on the buffet or menu. Very friendly and sweet staff.

Hubby had gotten takeout here while I was on vacation, so I was excited to try it, as he said the takeout was fantastic. We walk in, sit down and pay for our meal. We realize we are charged for our son, who already ate dinner ( was 2 years plus one week old) and literatly ate no more than two pieces of fruit. The buffet was empty. Like, not enough food for my husband and I to each have a portion of ANYTHING. We were there for approx 45 minutes and the four buffet pans that were gone (as in emptied and removed, presumably to be refilled) were not refilled until a swim team of about 25 people came in the restaurant. Yes, Kelly is wonderful and she's the reason I gave it three stars rather than two. There are better chinese buffets in town, and that's where we will be taking our money.
