In all honesty I have to say that this has to be arguably one of the best pizzas in the WORLD! No joke. Beggars is good especially for being a chain, the original Aurillios in Homewood is great, Bartolinis is delicious and is a ma and pa place, nick and Vito's is unique and tasty, and Palirmos in Oak Lawn is tasty. However pizza from here whether it is their thin crust, deep dish, or thick crust gives them all a run for their money.

One of the best pizzas in the world. The sauce and fresh sausage are the best. Unique sweet sauce unlike any other in their deep dish.

A south subs favorite! Sweet sauce, nice thin crust, good cheese. Reminds me a lot of Italian Fiesta, which is my favorite pizza place :-)

My wife and I are relatively new to the South Burbs and this place came highly recommended by several friends and neighbors. We have now had it twice and will be regulars... they won our business over from Aurelio's! To cut to the chase: Skip the deep dish and stuffed - they fail miserably at this style of pizza. I went in with visions of UNO's or DUE's style deep dish and was sorely disappointed by their doughy, undercooked thick crust. The thin crust pizza is the clear winner, hands down the best thin crust pizza in the South Suburbs. They use a cracker crust that is amazingly firm and crispy. YES, the sauce is SWEET. Sweet red sauce seems to be a south side phenomenon that I've never encountered in any other area of the city or the USA. Aurelio's and Beggars also have very sweet sauce. You can counter this by getting LOTS of toppings - four or five different toppings will balance the sauce nicely. Also, They use nice thick chunks of sausage... and the veggies are very fresh. As far as the $$$$ is concerned: Aurelio's is really the only other good SS pizza option and they are MORE expensive than this place. The Homewood Aurelio's has a virtual monopoly and does NOT offer coupons of any kind. Save your pizza boxtops, or use your iphone app to add up your receipts... that's it. Arrenello's has regularly circulating coupons and they staple a sheet to every order. This place is a no-brainer in an area of Chicagoland that can be very slim on good dine-out options.

Arrenello's Pizza is just a decent place to grab a slice. I don't eat here much, but it's my dad's go-to delivery place, so when he's in town we eat a LOT of it. They're always fast to deliver their pizzas, and they always show up hot, evenly cut, and looking pretty good. The sauce is a bit on the sweeter side, which I really like. They tend to put too much on for my liking though, and I honestly always forget to order it light on the sauce. It has a nice amount of cheese on it. The thin crust is a bit too thin and crunchy for me, but it's not bad. If I had my way, we'd order thick crust every time. Like I said, it's a place to get a pretty average piece of pizza. And average ain't bad. That said, I do think it's pretty expensive. A large cheese- that is, just cheese, no extra toppings- is about $19. That's a lot of money for an average slice, especially when that's not even with toppings added yet. All in all, it is what it is. Average pizza is better than no pizza, but in a place like Chicagoland where you can throw a rock and hit a pizza joint, you can have better.

Need to get the stuffed pizza, it's always delicious! We don't live in the Chicago area anymore, so when we ate in town, we get a pizza here, so so good! The flavor was great, also ordered wings they didn't last long. We ordered for pickup, was ready when we got there. Clean store, plenty of parking out front. Would stop again.

The raviolis were absolutely fantastic, the meat the cheese, quality ingredients reasonable priced. Wow keep up the good work thank you

I used to love this place, but after a few disappointing meals from there recently and outright rudeness from the staff, they've taken in my last dollar. Do they have good sauce? Sure. But the rest of their pizza is fairly average, so it's basically just above average, and their costs are pretty fucking high. When I call 40 minutes before they close, though, and live about 1/8th of a mile away, and am basically berated for asking for delivery when I was perfectly polite, I take my business elsewhere and discourage others from visiting. I'd like to think that most businesses which get a lot of good press in the region would not get cocky and start treating customers they've had for 20+ years like garbage, but oh well. Can't win 'em all.

  • Matt P.

Hands down the best pizza I've had. Make sure to ask for a little extra sauce. Don't live that close anymore so I rarely eat it. But every chance I get I'm there. The pizza is a bit on the pricy side but well worth every penny.

The sauce. THE SAUCE. UNLIKE any other. Can't get enough! Late hours for those late night cravings. One of the original and few businesses that have withstood the test of time In the area.

Hands down favorite pizza. Love that sweet sauce. A tad pricey but well worth it. Can't stop eating this pizza. The only thing that got me was the hours. They open at 4, which is weird. I used to have a standing appointment that ended at 330 and would have loved to order my pizza before I left so it would be ready by the time I got there. But they open at 4, answer the phone at 4. Not 3:59, not 3:47, 4.

Ok so I had been hearing about Arrenellos and finally tried. Quality of ingredients are fresh, I had chicken sausage, onions and green peppers. Nice thick pizza, I purchased a thin crust. The sauce is where it lost me, it was really sweet...my boyfriend loved it...but I could not eat more than one piece. If you like sweet tomato sauce on pizza I say go for it...if you like a tomato sauce that is zesty your pallet will not agree with this sauce. I would say try it and see if you like.

I LOVE THIS PLACE !!!!! This is my FAVORITE pizza place. My first time having this pizza was back in 1989 and I was in love... I live in Las Vegas now and when I'm back in Chicago I'm at Arrenello's. The BEST PIZZA EVER !!!!!!!

  • Anne M.

Grew up on this pizza. Some of my fondest memories as a kid- playing hard all summer day and then chowing down on a sweet and saucy pizza from Arrenello's. Although I live in Chicago now, I make special trips to get this pizza from time to time. I have also gone out of my way to bring it with me frozen when I was going to college in Carbondale. Best. Pizza. Evvvvaaahhhh!

My first journey into the south side for pizza, and boy was it a mistake. People here doing the reviews said they grew up on it. Kind of reminds me of what those who like Emo in STL. I ordered the stuffed pizza. The first problem was the sauce. It wasn't the sweetness that I disliked as much as it was the texture. It tasted like pure tomato paste out of the can, extremely thick. Had to scrape it off. But that was just a little problem. The dough was still raw! I tried to eat just the sausage and cheese, but neither had any flavor. Only ate one piece and threw the rest away! If you did not "grow up" here, then I wouldn't recommend this pizza. Already drank two diet sodas to get the taste out of my mouth. Big disappointment.

Best pizza I ever had. Palermo in oak lawn is a close second. Idk if there's sugar in the sauce, but idc. A little pricey but I don't mind a few extra bucks for the best pizza ever.

PLEASE!!! Hands down the best pizza I ever had. I use to love, well I still like it, Giordanos. But once I tried the pizza here, no doubt. The best tasting pizza!! I pick it up 5 minutes before they say its ready. They are fast! Lol. I would give it 10 stars if I could. Thumbs up!!

Ive only ordered stuffed pizza here once, so take this with a proverbial grain of salt. The Good - great quality sausage, and the cheese of course was good. the lower crust was flakey and buttery and almost crispy ... outstanding! good price for the amount of food you get. The Bad - probably the sweetest sauce I've had in my entire life, i had to scrape it off the top to make the pizza editable :( which was sad because of the quality ingredients. the top crust was doughy and uncooked :( The Ugly - leftovers were frightening live and learn i guess

This is my favorite pizza place of all time!!!! I also grew up on this pizza so I'm biased but I crave this pizza! Any time I come back to Glenwood, I have to order a pizza! Yes, the sauce is super-sweet and the pizza is extra-greasy but that's what makes it the best I've ever had! The price is high (I recently paid $26 for a large cheese thin crust with an order of 5 mozzarella sticks) but it's well worth it! Writing this review makes me want some right now; to bad they open at 4:00 pm!

Best pizza in the State of Illinois!!! You have to try the Chicken Sausage topping.

  • Amanda M.

Sweet pizza. Best pizza I have EVER had. Nothing is better. Price is a bit steep but I would eat this pizza as my dying meal. LOVE IT. The thin crust that is. The deep dish leaves a lot to be desired. The chickens not bad, the sandwiches are OK. The salads are GREAT, and the ravioli is good too!!

It pains me to leave a negative review for what I consider to be the best pizza place anywhere. Unfortunately, the manner in which my concern was mishandled by the manager and his staff justifies the 1 star review. Last night I ordered a medium chicken sausage and pepperoni pizza. I live in Chicago and made a special trip solely for this pizza. My family and I have probably bought hundreds of pizzas from this location over the past +20 yrs. This time there were bone fragments in the sausage. It was as if a chicken bone made it's way through the sausage grinder. Upon calling, the staff member assured me it was fennel seed and cumin. Clearly neither of these ingredients resemble bone fragments. I cook regularly with both. I know the difference. I rejected the notion of mistaking bone with fennel the staff member grew angry and tried to argue with me. I then asked to speak with the manager. She provided the number to their Tinley Park location where he typically works. After explaining the situation to him, he too passed if off as seasoning. Let me add that I've had this pizza several times and even vouched for it on Yelp (see my pic). He then conceded the sausage was not made in house, but he was still positive no error was made. He was insulated by the insinuation that a mistake had been made. He then angrily offered to replace the pizza, but before he took my information he hung up the phone. Amazed that an owner would conduct himself in such a manner. First and last customer service issue with Arrenelo's. It will be my last.

This is one of my favorite pizza places. I love the sweet sauce and the chicken sausage. The pizza is always hot and fresh. It is a little on the expensive side compared to other pizza places but it is nice for a treat every now and then. Check the website for coupons and they also have mobile offers.

If you don't like sweet sauce, then quite frankly, Arrenello's isn't for you. If you do...then, like me, you'll keep coming back for years. Their thin crust is crispy with a healthy amount of cheese and toppings, and their stuffed pizza is one of the best in the Chicago area. It's not cheap, but, well, if you want cheap...then call Dominos.

  • Davd M.

I really wish I could give this place five stars but I can't. Unlike the other reviews, I didn't grow up eating at this place. This pizza is entirely way to sweet. I'm talking as sweet as candy. I usually eat anything put in front of me but I couldn't even eat more than two bites. I hate giving bad reviews but for $34 for pizza that wasn't even edible, I think people should know exactly how sweet the pizza is before they order it.

The BEST pizza in the Chicagoland area. Period. I grew up on Arrenello's as my grandparents lived in Glenwood for years before eventually moving to Florida. Since moving to the city though I rarely get back to Arrenello's but when I do it's always a treat. The locations in Glenwood and Tinley Park are virtually the same. Never had a bad pie at either location. I always order a thin crust pepperoni or sausage pizza..YIMMY!The sauce is sweet and unlike any other pizza you'll ever taste. My only complaints are the hours. WHY do they open so late? If they were open during the day I'd get to enjoy them more frequently. TO THE OWNERS: Please consider opening a location within the Chicago city limits!!

We just moved to South Holland from the city a few weeks ago and after a bad experience at Aurelio's and Pizza Hut tragedy, we were excited about hopefully finding a new go to place relatively close (we really miss Piece and Lou Malnati's). I was in the shower when the pizza arrived but when I got out, I found a very disappointed wife. She told me the pizza was REALLY sweet. In my mind I'm thinking "how sweet can pizza really be?" She is a bit of a harsh critic (thinks Chipotle is the worst thing ever) so, I pretty much wrote her off so I could have an objective first bite. After sitting down in front of the TV with a hot pizza and a cold 312, I took my first bite and was completely shocked. First off, let me give everyone my frame of reference. I pretty much like anything sweet. Chik Fil-A's honey mustard sauce is like candy to me and I love it. Any sweet sauce or reduction or whatever you call it on meat is immediately amazing to me. This pizza caught me so off guard, I stared laughing. At first I thought we might have gotten a bad batch. Unfortunately, I was starving and had run out of Boo Berry cereal so, I choked down two slices, immediately chasing every bite with a gulp of 312. I almost called the restaurant and asked for the owner to see if he/she had actually tasted this terrible pizza. Just in case you haven't "caught" my drift. This pizza is TERRIBLE! We thought it was so funny that it was so bad, we decided to pull a little prank on my in-laws. We brought some leftovers to their house the next day (yes we had a lot of leftovers), bragging about how we had just found the best pizza in the south suburbs. As we heated up a slice, I could hardly keep from dying laughing as I watched my father-in-law and mother-in-law take a bite. As expected, their reaction was exactly the same as ours. WOW, this is BAD pizza. They were pretty sure the sauce was straight-out-of-the can tomato paste with enough sugar added to make Kool-Aid taste terrible. This paste would have been better served on a waffle or perhaps a birthday cake. Shame on every reviewer here for completely misleading us. We read sweet pizza but damn, couldn't you guys have been a little more honest! I hope the owner/"chef" reads this so he/she can email me or call me and reimburse me for damages both emotional and physical. TERRIBLE PIZZA!!!!! PS....My father-in-law just texted my wife ""that pizza was dreadful"

Arrenello's is actually as good as it gets when it comes to stuffed pizza (their other stuff is actually really good, but one post at a time). It's just such a pleasant surprise -- I didn't expect the sauce (which is sweet) to go so well with mountain of cheese (and the crust is pretty amazing). I just wish I lived closer to one of the locations!

  • Barbra S.

This pizza is REALLY GREASY (you have a slice in your hand and the grease is running down your arm). They are also higher priced than competitors in area. I ordered the chicken dinner special, which was good, but their cole slaw is THE worst (consists of thinly shredded cole slaw, mayo and a HUGE amount of black pepper) - inedible.

Ok, at first i couldn't really get with the sweet sauce. UNTIL i discovered their chicken sausage!! WOW!! the sweet sauce goes really well with the chicken sausage. I don't eat pork or beef so finding tasty toppings for pizza can be challenging, but I have found a new BFF at Arrenellos!!

Food poisoning!! Please be careful of the food at this establishment. First, let me say I have been a loyal fan of the restaurant. I've been going there for more than 10 years and even though I've moved out of state, I never fail to visit when I am in town 3-4 times a year. That being said, when I got in town this weekend, one of my first stops was Arrenello's. We ordered two chicken Italian sausage pizzas (one was gluten free) and settled in for a tasty treat. That is until about 2 am when I began to vomit violently. My stomach ached and curled for the next several hours. About 7 am my mother also began to vomit. At 9 am my sister called saying she was sick and couldn't keep anything down. The three of us ate the pizza and all got sick. Mind you, this was the Saturday before Easter and I barely made it out of the house because I was so sick. Anyway, I called Arrenello's to tell the manager of my experience. I got the most rude, uncaring response I could imagine. The manager all but told me I was lying. He said it could not have been the pizza because they sold a lot if pizzas that night and they hadn't had any complaints. I pointed out that they had just opened for the day and on Easter they were closed. He again dismissed my complaint. After having gone to this establishment for more than a decade they are now minus at least 3 customers who have not only been poisoned by the food, but the customer service as well.

The chicken sausage is off the hinges!!!!!!!!! I don't eat pork so this the first and only place that has a substitution to the regular sausage and its seasoned just right....... also the have a sweet sauce Instead of the tangy acidy sauce of other pizza places the pizza is so fantastic

We order from the Tinley Park location all the time. Growing up on the SW side of Chicago, Palermo's on 63rd was our pizza place. They too, have the sweet sauce, and a rocking deep dish. When I moved out to Tinley, I realized the Palermos in Orland delivers to my new house. We ordered once. It was good. The next time, I decided to try Arrenellos, since we live 2 blocks away. I picked it up. I've never ordered from Palermo's again. There is no reason to go anywhere else. I agree, if you prefer spicy sauce, this may not work for you. We however, like the sweet taste of the sauce. They obviously use the freshest ingredients, and nothing is every rushed. The staff is always friendly when we pick up, and the pizza is ready when we arrive. Two sauce soaked thumbs up!

About 12 years ago, Arrenello's was rated the #2 deep dish pizza in the Chicago area. For some bizarre reason, it's fallen off the list. However, I still crave this pizza when I'm at my parents' house. We used to order it everytime I came home from college because it was exactly the kind of meal that reminded me of home. The thing that makes Arrenello's deep dish different is the sauce. This is the sweetest tomato sauce I've ever tasted on pizza. For some people, that might be a turnoff. But if you're like me, you'll love how unique this sauce is (and how it compliments the other flavors in the pizza). When I was younger and ate meat, I used to always order pepperoni. Nowadays, I usually go for spinach stuffed pizza. SO GOOD.

My all time favorite pizza joint growing up! As a kid- it was a real treat when my parents ordered pizza from this place and have it delivered. As we became older, my folks would order it on Sundays while watching footballs or when it was pizza night at the house. Ahhh....memories!! After all these years, I still get cravings for their thin crust CHEESE pizza! The sauce is sweet and the melted cheese is just delicious! Every time, I visit my folks- I try to convince them to order the pizza for me. My siblings and I just chow down this pizza. I really hope that they will sell pizza frozen and ship it to where I live now. I really do miss Arrenello's very very very very much :-(

This is the pizza that I grew up on and what I compare all others to. Eating it reminds me of home. I am speaking about the Glenwood location which is a carryout/delivery only. I have tried many stuffed pizzas around but few come close. The sauce is sweet and they give more than enough cheese and the prices are reasonable. Its south of Chicago but definitely worth a try. The thin crust is good also. There is good pizza on the south side: Palermo's, Auerilio's, Nino's, Nancy's, Homerun Inn, Sanfratello's and I say this one is tops hands down. Even living in Chicago I have found few that compare. I am still looking and hope to find one because its an hour drive to get one of these.

We love Arrenello's!! I grew up ordering from the Glenwood location. When I moved to Tinley Park it was one of the things my neighbor and I used to say that we missed most. You should have heard her shouting into the phone when she found out that we were getting one in Tinley! The pizza is fantastic and we love the chicken and seasoned broasted potatoes. I can't say that I have ever had any dinner that I didn't like from there. They have also catered parties for us and did a great job. Can't say enough good things about them!

I've gotten carryout pizza here in the past and in my opinion this is one of the best pizza places in the Chicagoland area. Their thin crust is what I normally order and I just love the sweet sauce. Also have a Tinley location for carryout only.
