Lovely locally owned coffee shop, great beverages, friendly staff, cozy space with plenty of seating. Couple of nibbles in refrigerated case and baked goods. Great parking under/behind the building with rear entrance to shops.

Customer Service: not the friendliest Location: hard to get in and out of with a car Prices: if you thought Starbucks was a lot, try ordering a large Americano that said it was $2.85 on the board and then get charged $4.62. When asked why I got charged an extra $2 I was told because two extra espresso shots are in the iced cup. $4.62 for espresso, ice, and water seems a little extreme. I'm all for supporting small local businesses, but not ones that are taking advantage of the community. The price is more than $1 more than Starbucks. Coffee: tastes good, but not worth the price tag Review in short, they've lost my business.

Nice people- good coffee. Neighborhood coffee shop that knows everyone. I ordered and the guy forgot my order- too busy chatting with other guest. Cashier gave me a free coffee for next time which was nice. I like that it's open as early as 530AM.

Friendly and family oriented. A little pricey, but the product and service justified it. Good sandwiches for the price; definitely not fast food. The decor is more drawing room than dining room, so expect a lot of leather and wood. Overall, an excellent place to pass time and get comfortably caffeinated.

I thought this place was pretty expensive, and keep in mind that I am coming from NYC. My iced coffee drink was over $5, which seems absurd. I don't normally get sticker shock, but when I handed over my payment, my jaw dropped a bit. Yikes!

Nice ambiance but their coffee is very mediocre. Instead of trying to offer all things for all people, that should just master making good coffee first.

This place is a comfortable coffee shop in the center of glenview. My only gripe was I wish my latte had some design. sounds dumb but in my head every private owned coffee shop has latte art, isn't that one of the big separating factors? haha

First of all let me say I am not bias of the cafe because I have a friend who is an employee, I am as open and honest about every business that patron. I have only been to this location once, but from the first experience I would definitely be back. The staff is friendly and while I was there could identify not only the drinks of customers but also the customers' names. As a former barista and hospitality professional I find this to be a great asset to any business. The staff is genuine and it real shows. The drinks well let's just say ummmm.... Amazing!!!!! I got one of the signature drinks that the Glenview Grind offers this is the Nuetella latte. Yes Nuetella!!! I don't even want to think about the nutritional information about this drink, or maybe I can. It can't be bad for you if it tastes that good can it? I will definitely be back. Everyone should check the Glenview Grind out! Definitely a change from the coffee giant on every corner. Refreshing to find a coffee shop like this. Reasonable pricing as well.

I like this place. The coffee is good and the staff is friendly. I find the decor appealing and the ambience is far better than the corporate feel of a Starbucks. This time with my coffee I ordered a $3.35 breakfast sandwich: the Canadian Bacon, Egg and Cheese Muffin. It was warm and edible out of their microwave but there were two problems with this offering. First, you don't microwave an English Muffin. The microwave makes a muffin soft and chewy when it should be crisp and crunchy. You're supposed to toast an English muffin and then let the butter melt into the crevices. Second, the fellow who took our order also prepared the food. Since there was a short line at the counter, his attention to breakfast was necessarily distracted by his other duties. Ideally, the Grind should have a person devoted solely to preparing the food if they are going to offer it. They have a very limited food menu so this would not take that much labor but the end result would be a fresh cooked egg and a toasted muffin, something that would be worth returning for. I will be back but only for their coffee.

Located formerly at a Caribou, parking can be a little difficult if you're visiting for the 1st time because you don't know there's a garage in back since there really isn't any street parking. However, we did notice a lot of people come in from the front entrance so there was a fair amount of walk-up or local traffic. The decor is pretty much the same as the former Caribou: open dark beams, color scheme, chalkboard in the corner for children, location of creamer/sugar/napkins, location of coffee beans. I question whether they use Metropolis considering the large red and black bags on the side. I did like the usage of flat screen tvs for the menu since it could show you samples of their signature drinks. They also had several flat screens around the cafe, although I found it strange for this type of crowd that 2 of the 3 were on ESPN. The coffee quality was quite good. I got a coffee with a shot of espresso (bulldog) and since I was drinking it for here, it was nice to get it in a mug. Even though the place is out of my neighborhood, I'd definitely come back for some good coffee!

Excellent Intelligentsia coffee and the house roast is good as well. The pastries are tasty and I really like the deli sandwiches. They have a variety of healthy food options as well. Try the Glenview Smoothie if you need a vitamin/antioxidant boost. I especially like the fact that they are non-profit. All profits go to area charities and causes. Your money isn't going to some faceless corporation with a mermaid logo! haha The staff is friendly and helpful. The free wi-fi is faster than any coffee shop that I have been to in the Chicagoland area...and I have been to many! I work from home (which means coffee shops). There is covered customer parking and an entrance behind the building which is a big plus. Also, they just put out the outdoor sidewalk seating. Now we just need some warm weather!

Glendview Grind is a wonderful place! I love going there. They have the best coffee around. IF you get the regular coffee, make sure you get the dark roast because I find the light roast too watery. If you think you deserve a treat, get the Nutella latte. Also, on some saturdays, they have live music.

Just a nice, neighborhood, independent coffee shop, without hipster snobbiness. Starbucks prices, without the burnt beans and with higher quality coffee. They use Intelligentsia beans and they serve beer and wine.

I want to like glenview grind. there are reasons I have been iffy about this place, but I keep coming back to give it another shot. Today I went because I wanted to try a coffee smoothie. I asked what was in it, and the guy working there said it was a mix thing with ice. I asked what was in the mix, and he said he didn't know. Like they don't care about the integrity of their food/ care about what they were sellling me, as long as I gave them my money. I think that just sums up what is disappointing about this place. Glenview is a wealthy area, so they can get away with having high prices. I would think that a place with high prices would then use quality ingredients, but no- the coffee smoothie is just a mix. And the art on the walls are just stock photos. It's illusory. I wish there was more substance. ALSO THEY DON'T RECYCLE!! And whenever I ask them if they are going to start, they answer very apathetically. Come on... You can be better! People are willing to spend more money here, so make your drinks and food with better ingredients of integrity! Care about the community and recycle. You will get my respect.

Glenview Grind in a fantastic, locally-owned coffee place in this quiet Chicago suburb. The staff are always friendly and competent at brewing strong, tasty caffeinated beverages. They brew Intelligentsia coffee, one of my favs and, unique to other coffee spots, they have many interesting sweets (including vegan and gluten free options). One of the best tasting options is the Nutella latte, a drink so decadent it is both beverage and dessert! The regular vanilla latte is also quite good. I don't think you can go wrong with anything here. The (relatively) late hours of operation are a huge bonus as well.

My husband had a tennis match at the Wilmette Tennis Club and I had a ton of reading to complete for my first week of my first semester of grad school. Luckily, the Glenview Grind was only 8 minutes away! They have a large selection of coffee (including Intelligensia and their own home brew), teas (caffeinated and caffeine free), smoothies and believe it or not...beer and wine! They serve beer and wine from 4-9pm. They are open daily until 9 pm and provide free Wifi (no password needed) and plenty of electrical outlets. If you check in on Yelp they'll honor the $2 off a specialty drink offer! I tried the Nutella latte with whipped cream...so good! Distractions are also available in the form of a large flat screen tv and small plates (charcuterie, cheese & fruit plates) for purchase in the evening hours. Plenty of parking in the back as well!

Still probably the best espresso north of Howard, unfortunately, and the staff couldn't be more friendly, but they treat milk like Starbucks and it doesn't taste much better. Although they have videos playing almost all the time of latte art, they don't take the time to ensure they are using the right milk let alone getting it to the right temperature. This place needs to renew their commitment to quality ingredients and pride in craftsmanship. Let customers expecting Starbucks product go to Starbucks. I always specify black cat espresso, but I won't bother in the future.

What a nice inviting place for a cup of coffee over good conversation. They have large selection of coffee and non-caffeine drinks. I'm having one of the best Mocha I've ever had. They serve Intelligensia coffee, by the way. Plenty of covered parking in the back of the store. Give them a try!!

We were searching for a new place to get some coffee tonight, and came across Glenview Grind on Yelp! The reviews seemed great, so we went for it :) I tried the Nutella Latte and thought it was delicious! I've tried this drink at a few coffee shops in the Chicagoland area and must say this one was all-around my favorite. The Nutella-to-espresso ratio was just how I wanted it! My husband had the Snickerdoodle Latte and liked it, as well. So many fun specialty beverages on the menu! Can't wait to stop in again. We were pretty impressed with their breakfast menu, too, and plan to get a bite there one day. The menu aside, the baristas were very friendly, and the shop appeared to be very clean. My only complaint is that the counter was very cluttered - pans of (wrapped) pastries filled the counter, leaving no space for the customer. We came close to closing time, so I'm not sure if these pastries are always there, or if they were just moved there since they were beginning to clean. Besides that, everything was great!

Friendly staff here! On my last visit, I noticed that GG now serves beer and wine! That was unexpected! I would also like to announce that I'm a fan of their regular/straight up coffee. IMO, skip the fancy drinks and just get a plain ol' hot (or iced) cup o' joe! Mmm, mmm, strong! From the pastry case, the donut (glazed with rainbow sprinkles) was a little heavy, but I really liked the chocolate chip muffin I got!

My first experience at Glenview Grind was not great. I was not in a hurry to return. But the people who own Nail Time farther down Waukegan Road said, go in, try again. I did, and you know what? I'm glad I went in. I've been twice, and had much, much better customer service experiences. The coffee is Intelligentsia. I had an iced coffee, which I drank at Glenview Grind. That was perfectly fine, and set me on a caffeine high for several hours. The next time, I looked at their specialty coffee drinks and thought, what the heck? When has the mere fact that a cup of liquid offers about a thousand calories ever stopped me before? So I had a medium serving of the peanut butter drink. Sorry, I don't remember the exact name. It was served with a mini-Reese's on the top, which I thought was hilarious. And the drink really did taste like peanut butter and chocolate. It was really good. Again, I'm sure it must have contained at least a thousand calories, but I didn't care. I sucked that baby down. I didn't eat anything except a smiley cookie, which was fine. It was soft and sweet, which pleased me. More calories. What the heck. The big difference was the service. I think it was Cathy, the manager. She gave me a name! She smiled! She offered me a frequent flyer card, which I declined, saying I was from out of the area. She welcomed me. There was a gentleman making the drinks, and he smiled. On another visit, another young lady, I believe of Asian heritage, was there, and she was friendly too. I don't know what happened to change things, but I'm glad things have changed. This was already a cute place, but service was lacking. That's been turned around, big time. Two visits, two good experiences. Yes, I am now a fan!

With a love for coffee and experience working at Caribou Coffee for a little while I started out 2014 with the mission to visit all of the coffee shops in my area. After visiting a few, I thought why not write reviews and share my thoughts on each of them. So here we are... without any further ado let's dive right in to my unbiased review of Glenview Grind Location and Ambiance: Glenview Grind is located in downtown Glenview, and overall has a really great ambiance due to the home feel and vibe that the coffee shop has. Food: There were some great food choices and the pastries I tried were great (Pumpkin loaf)! Staff: The staff was nice, and had no issues making jokes with me along the way. This is by far my favorite coffee shop. I cannot comment on the quality of their food or specialty drinks, although they look great, as I have only had their dark and light roast, but both of those are excellent. I really like the atmosphere and the attitude of the baristas have, very casual and straightforward. I really enjoy how I can stop by on my way to work and no matter how long the line is (which it usually isnt), and I am in and out in less than two minutes. I would highly recommend this to anyone in the glenview area.

When you just don't feel like going to Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts, out here in the suburbs there aren't too many other options for a simple cafe. Glenview Grind is a wonderful alternative. I've been to Glenview Grind plenty of times now and every experience has been pleasant. The staff is always friendly and makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. The barista makes wonderful drinks (including some pretty nice foam on lattes and cappuccinos... as a former barista myself, I find this important). Their brewed coffee is excellent (I think it's Intelligenstia coffee) and always tastes fresh. The espresso is smooth. The specialty drinks are ALL delicious! I believe they have a nice balance between the espresso, milk, and sweetness from syrups- not overly sugary like the drinks at many other coffee shops. OH I even tried a peach iced Italian cream soda and it was INCREDIBLE. The almond cream soda I gotta honestly say was not as good of a choice =P I'm glad I tried it though because I love to experiment. It's a new coffee shop with a cozy atmosphere and great service. Located in the old Caribou Coffee spot on the corner of Glenview and Waukegan, this little grind is a great addition to the neighborhood and a much needed spot for a cup. First of all, talk about easy access! I didn't know until today that there is covered parking behind the building with an additional back entrance into the shop. Good thing, because this is a super busy intersection. I don't know, I think the place is charming. My coffee cake was moist and delicious and nutty...and free...because the woman behind the counter felt it was a bit small for the day. Ummm...thank you so much! My Americano was smooth as all get out, and I don't generally enjoy Americano's, because I find them to be very strong. Funny side note, I have to make reference to someone's earlier review about the menu board being funky to read. They definitely did not have a good printer for their backlit display. Don't stare at it too long or it will make your eyes hurt. Not sure what's up with that. Ha! Oh, I forgot to mention they sell their own branded beans. Very reasonably priced here too...not like the bigger mermaid stops.

I'm not one for coffee shops or cafes in general but when you've hours to kill between appointments, need to get some work done and require Wi-Fi to do so and don't want to attempt any of the above in a bar with the local drunks at 10am then coffee shops and cafes are the default. Enter the Glenview Grind. Plenty of covered parking in the back of the building (off of Glenview Rd and Waukegan), friendly staff ("Yeah you can have the Yelp deal for $2 bucks off. No you don't need to show me that you've checked in, just make sure to write a good review!") and clean surroundings with plenty of outlets to used said free Wi-Fi make this a pleasant spot to achieve my goals for the next few hours. As a side note they now serve beer and wine everyday from 4pm to close (9pm most days). If circumstance dictates, I'll come back here again. (It does get rather..."boisterous" here mid day. Keep in mind if looking for a quiet place to work)

I was so happy to learn that a new coffee house opened in the Caribou space. Today was our first day to try it. We ordered the breakfast sandwich. It was very small, pre-made, and wrapped by the Jimmy Dean Company. The Canadian bacon was paper thin and not worth the money. My husband had a white mocha which was tasteless. The cinnamon roll was good but for $2.99, I thought it a bit high....I don't know if we'll return or not. The atmosphere was not very inviting either.

I tried the Glenview Grind yesterday. I paid $5.50 for a medium size cup of Chai Latte . I couldn't believe my ears. It was OK tasting but not worth the money!

Yikes!

The atmosphere was not very inviting either.

neighborhood place for very good quick in / out cup of coffee or whatever suits you. Looks like it's some folks office or rec room but if that works so what. Good product friendly service with a little edge in convenient (for me ) location

(5)Ron G.

Amazing coffee and delicious pastry! Recommendations: Hazelnut coffee Fran go Mint coffee Jelly Doughnuts
(5)Adam D.
(5)Reeder J.
Solid Coffee shop. Very spacious and nice atmosphere. Good coffee and pastries. Beat's starbucks any day. Keep up the good work!
(4)Dan W.
Glendview Grind is a wonderful place! I love going there. They have the best coffee around. IF you get the regular coffee, make sure you get the dark roast because I find the light roast too watery. If you think you deserve a treat, get the Nutella latte. Also, on some saturdays, they have live music.
(5)Kevin A.
Just a nice, neighborhood, independent coffee shop, without hipster snobbiness. Starbucks prices, without the burnt beans and with higher quality coffee. They use Intelligentsia beans and they serve beer and wine.
(5)Sara L.

Coffee: The coffee was great! I had the usual black coffee, but they also have lattes and espresso based drinks if you want something sweater. Food: There were some great food choices and the pastries I tried were great (Pumpkin loaf)! Staff: The staff was nice, and had no issues making jokes with me along the way. Overall, Glenview Grind is a quality coffee shop and I highly recommend giving it a try! Thanks, Connor Brady

Good coffee drinks, nice beer selection, friendly staff and fast service. Looks like a nice place to meet up with someone or hang out with your laptop to get work done.

Lastly, they have a loyalty card in which they punch holes for every drink ordered each time you visit. Once you've reached 10 drinks, the 11th is free. Excelleeeeent.
(5)Brennan P.
I make sure to visit Glenview Grind whenever I'm in the area. They feature a vast menu full of tasty drinks and treats, a friendly staff, and a pleasant atmosphere. Prices are fair, mostly cheaper than Starbucks. The coffee is great; I've tried quite a few drinks on the menu, and have not been disappointed (my favorite so far is the nutella latte). Glenview Grind is a great place to relax, unwind, and sip some excellent coffee.

neighborhood place for very good quick in / out cup of coffee or whatever suits you. Looks like it's some folks office or rec room but if that works so what. Good product friendly service with a little edge in convenient (for me ) location

Amazing coffee and delicious pastry! Recommendations: Hazelnut coffee Fran go Mint coffee Jelly Doughnuts
(5)Adam D.

Solid Coffee shop. Very spacious and nice atmosphere. Good coffee and pastries. Beat's starbucks any day. Keep up the good work!

Lastly, they have a loyalty card in which they punch holes for every drink ordered each time you visit. Once you've reached 10 drinks, the 11th is free. Excelleeeeent.

(5)Tabitha D.
Excellent coffee and excellent service! We are from Southern California came here in May as a small group and returned this month with our whole choir while on tour! They served all 50+ of us quickly and all our drinks were made to perfection! Gotta love their Peanut Butter Cup!!
(5)Tamim J.
Wonderful staff, friendly location and great tasting coffee, prepared as you like. Phenomenal flavor combinations coupled with an excellent, warm ambiance. Try it and you'll love it.
(4)Russ A.

(5)Pauline Y.
I tried the Glenview Grind yesterday. I paid $5.50 for a medium size cup of Chai Latte . I couldn't believe my ears. It was OK tasting but not worth the money!
(3)josh f.

Good drink selection (including milk options... they carry almond milk in addition to soy) and a cozy atmosphere.

(4)Jessica D.
Lovely locally owned coffee shop, great beverages, friendly staff, cozy space with plenty of seating. Couple of nibbles in refrigerated case and baked goods. Great parking under/behind the building with rear entrance to shops.
(4)Branka J.

(3)O.k. H.
Friendly and family oriented. A little pricey, but the product and service justified it. Good sandwiches for the price; definitely not fast food. The decor is more drawing room than dining room, so expect a lot of leather and wood. Overall, an excellent place to pass time and get comfortably caffeinated.
(5)K. J.
I thought this place was pretty expensive, and keep in mind that I am coming from NYC. My iced coffee drink was over $5, which seems absurd. I don't normally get sticker shock, but when I handed over my payment, my jaw dropped a bit. Yikes!
(3)john b.
Nice ambiance but their coffee is very mediocre. Instead of trying to offer all things for all people, that should just master making good coffee first.
(2)Petras D.

(2)Steve J.
Awesome little spot! Great coffee, great personalities, huge selection of specialty drinks! Starbucks who?
(5)Jessica L.
Always happy to go in to Glenview Grind and have the wonderful staff welcome me. I love that they have almond milk instead of just regular milk and soy milk. I am a blogger and can get a lot of work down with lots of table space and plug-ins near almost every table.
(4)Peter H.
This place is a comfortable coffee shop in the center of glenview. My only gripe was I wish my latte had some design. sounds dumb but in my head every private owned coffee shop has latte art, isn't that one of the big separating factors? haha
