About Taco Bell
Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.
The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.
Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

Ellys is aways a go to place when it comes to brunch! Love coming for the skillets and omelette as they have the originals but also have Greek inspired dishes as well. The staff at this location is friendly and family oriented! Love this place and can't wait to visit again!

Excellent food just like the Mundelein location. Decors is even better. Had hawaii 5-0 omelet it was delish. I even tried fresh squeezed orange juice today and I am not a juice person and loved it.

This morning was my first time there. We got there around 9A and were seated immediately. The staff was super friendly. I got the berry infusion crepes, which were excellent. And my husband had the breakfast club (eggs, bacon, sausage, french toast and a glass of fresh squeezed OJ) which he said was very yummy! I thought this place was much better than walker brothers and eggsperience. Will definitely come back
(5)Rikin S.
Get the Steak skillet! This was probably one of the best skillets I've had in a while. It also comes with a side of pancakes and is very filling.
(5)Delia S.
Was in the area so decided to stop and have breakfast here with the family. I am a big coffee drinker and the cup was so small that I needed a refill after three drinks. Our food didn't take long to come out but was not as good as I thought it would be. Just your average breakfast spot with fresh squeezed O.J.

Me and my family were looking for someplace to go for a late breakfast other than IHOP or Walkers Bros so we decided to give Elly's a try. After being seated it took about 5 minutes for our waitress to come by. She took her drink order which she did very impatiently because my daughter couldn't decide what she wanted to drink. Then another 5 minutes or so for her to take or order. We waited about 20 minutes for my food in which she never stop by to ask if we needed refills. When she brought the food which was not hot, she saw that I needed another coke. She said that she would be back to see if we needed anything and to bring my refill in which she never did. In the 15 minutes or so that it took us to eat our food she went out of her way to avoid us, walking on the other side of the aisle to avoid walking passed us. She saw that we had empty glasses but didn't care. Not once did she come and ask how our food was or to give refills for the table. The straw that broke the camels back was after my husband her finished his iced tea, he saw a bug at the bottom of the glass. I had to rudely summon her over to our table because yet again she was at a table behind us and was about to depart without servicing our table. At this time, I asked for the check in which she then proceeds to ask if we wanted refills. When I was paying the bill, the owner (I assume) asked how everything was. I told him but I don't truly think he was listening. I wasn't looking for anything to be taking off of my bill but It took the hostess to tell him that he should take something off. Since my card was already charged, he decided that our inconvenience was worth $2.00 (the price of the iced tea) in which I kindly declined. I told him to give it to the waitress since she wasn't getting anything from me. Sadly, the food was o.k. I would have definitely tried Elly's again if the service wasn't so bad!.

I come here at least once a week. I'm a huge breakfast food junkie and love trying breakfast food places in my area and ellys never fails. My favorites are the potato Benedict and German pancake (allow 30 min for them to bake the German pancake if that's what you order). The service is also always very good and fast. This place is def a breakfast gem of the area. They also have a lunch menu, but I have only tried the soup and it was decent. My friend once got the quesadillas and said they were pretty good. I would stick to the breakfast menu.
(5)Michelle R.
I love this place!! Came here with a classroom of special needs kids and they couldn't have been more accommodating!!! Even tho some of are kids can be challenging the server was awesome as were the people when each kid paid individually which is challenging for a table of 12. Everyone's food was fantastic! I would highly recommend for the food but especially for the service they provided to our kids!!!
(5)Alec R.
Yummy food and good service. We would go back in a heartbeat! Thank you Elly's!
(4)Tunaidi A.
Great local breakfast place. Elly's has a large menu with a variety of options that should be able to please even the most particular of patrons. Think pancakes, omelets, crepes, waffles, french toast, combos, and regular good old American breakfast items. Service is excellent and prices are reasonable.
(4)pam d.
We also had a similar experience as one of the other reviews that was posted. Our waitress, Maryann, was not only inattentive she was absolutely rude. A simple request for a fresh cup of coffee was made to seem like a complete imposition. Food was good, but we will not be back.
(2)Caset J.
The good part was the food was good, semi warm, but good. Oh and they overly offer coffee while you are there. The bad was service, as well as what is called favoritism to their regular customers. It took 20 minutes after ordering that I got my drink, and then another 15 minutes till the food was served. Our server told us our order would be right up, then spent the next 10 minutes talking to regulars who were also complaining about the service. The waitress exclaimed that she could cook faster than the current cook staff. Our order was wrong, and it took multiple times for us to finally get the right food. They did make an adjustment on the bill. There was a pair of customers that got a very warm reception from the owners, and received their food within 10 minutes on sitting down. They came after we sat down and left before we did. We did not tip, and said something so hopefully they will improve.
(1)Nancy Y.
I really enjoy eating here. The staff is friendly and the restaurant gives off a homey vibe. Last time I went I got the country fried steak which was delicious but a little bit too salty (and I do love my salt). My bf always gets the steak and eggs and it's always season well and perfectly cooked.
(4)Ross C.
Nice breakfast restaurant, close from home good coffee and service is good too! By the way for those who like it they have salsa for your breakfast!
(4)Sarah L.
Thank you Yelp reviews for helping us choose Elly's for breakfast! Our breakfast was amayzing! We had the Hawaii 5-0 omelet which was a fluffy cloud of egg enveloping ham, Monterey jack, and pineapple. However, the Apple pancake was to die for. If you know you are going call ahead and get it cookin because it take 45 min, but is totally worth the wait. Sliced apple baked in pancake batter, topped with cinnamon and powdered sugar, and big enough to share, and you can wash it all down with fresh squeezed orange juice. One top of great food the service was amayzing! A perfect start to the day.

I can't believe I've never been to this place before. I went there this past Friday with a friend and I had the meat lovers skillet with Italian sausage and chorizo added extra to it. They even carried my favorite hot sauce(cholula). The service was great, our waitress was very kind and wasn't bothersome. She made sure we had everything we needed and also not once did we go thirsty. When the glass was getting ready to be empty she popped out of nowhere with a fresh glass full. Truly amazing service, the food was awesome. I went back there again for a second day in a row, this time with my wife. I had to let her see this place. She loved it just as much as I did. To think, I've been wasting my money at dennys and ihop. Their food is subpar compared to the food being made at ellys. Don't believe me, go into ellys and find out for urself. But I will say it now.......I told ya so.
(5)Dan K.
I have been looking for a while before I found a place that had good corned beef hash skillet, and guess what, this is the place and the corned beef hash skillet is AMAZING. My wife and I have been coming here for breakfast, and I don't think we ordered a single item that we didn't like. The service is friendly and good. If you are planning on coming on the weekend, try to be there before 9:30am, otherwise, i might end up waiting.
(5)Gino D.
Stopped in while I was in the area with my family. The place looks a bit run down inside but that was ok. What was not great was our waitress. She was awkward. Friendly but not very nice. She got our order wrong and would go MIA at times. After we were served, I noticed her eating behind the counter. A suggestion maybe to have the staff eat in back where it is not visible. She totally needs a break and a right to lunch so hopefully she got the necessary break. Food was mediocre at best. The one redeeming quality was the obvious Bears support. Ok place, nothing really wrong but would not revisit.
(2)Steve L.
my family have been a regular at Elly's for several years now. They always had good food and homey atmosphere. However, the past weekend, a new server (Im presuming because we have never seen her) was just too terrible. When we asked for more coffee she snapped back at us saying she was going get and we didnt have to tell her. Umm ok? I dont know what her deal was but she would slam down plates on the table and just gave us attitude throughout the meal. Other than that, still good food. Try the bacon waffle if you havent already. The combination works surprisingly well.
(2)Marisa H.
We ate there for breakfast every day during my visit to Glenview. Reasonable prices, great food. You can't lose. If you are staying in the area, a must for breadfast.
(4)Adam K.
Was back again last week...Same great service and food. The highlight of my business trips for sure!
(5)Gregg N.
Go if you have a lot of time. The food was very good but the service was poor--slow and inattentive.
(3)Dave G.
We like Elly's. It is large so you get a seat quickly. It is both adult and kid friendly. Plenty of parking. The selections on the menu are vast. The location is easy to get to. Breakfast prices are reasonable. Downside: waitresses that have been there a while tend to have no sense of urgency.
(3)Aaron A.
Great service. Good coffee. I had breakfast at Elly's Pancake House on a recent visit to Chicago. It was extremely convenient to my hotel. Pancakes were strangely not great. I noticed some other reviewers mentioned that it's quiet and it is, almost too quiet. It was kind of nice. It made me aware of all the background noise you normally hear in restaurants. I can't say I had a really memorable experience, but the food was pretty good and I had the best company. Three stars.
(3)Paddu P.
Although my Dalmatian pancakes were amazing, the less than poor service of their waitress made the whole experience uncomfortable. She's a much older woman, always wear blue eye shadow or colorful at least. She has a raspy voice, as if she'd been chain smoking since she was a kid. I wanted to punch this lady in face. Both my friend and I had just worked out and we were super hungry! I COULD read. I knew what I was ordering and obviously that I'd have leftovers, which I was okay with, if I did. We started ordering, she took a hard look at each one of us, up and down and goes "that's too much food, you don't need that". She said loud enough where some of the people sitting around us, turned and looked. Also shocked. I was at a loss of words. Kind of shocked really. I don't remember asking her for her opinion. However I do remember asking her to write down my order and run it to the kitchen. After our food came, she asked if we needed anything else, as she was walking away from our table she goes "yeah I knew that's too much food, should've listened". She's ones of those people who says stuff under their breath, but if you hear it, they laugh it off. It was sooooo uncomfortable. She was rude and ignorant. It's a shame, because during my college days, I lived at the Elly's in the city. Now that I'm out here, I thought we'd have a piece of them. What we got was a piece of sh*t experience. I will never ever go back to this place.
(1)Arshad A.
Elly's has good food, not a big fan of there steak but everything else is good. Usually there service is decent but today are server was Agnus and she was outstanding. She is very good at what she does and very fast. I'm extremely happy with our service more business needed people like her working for them.
(4)John C.
Really Great food. I had the Apple pecan crepes. Delicious! My wife had the frittata. Spicy and flavorful. Fresh squeezed juice and fresh fruit. Just a jewel of a breakfast restaurant. We will be back again and again!
(4)Maureen W.
I've been going here since the day they opened. Service is almost always perfect. They make scrambled eggs the way they should be made: fluffy and not overdone. Food almost always comes hot. The orange juice is fresh squeezed, yummy!! They make a GREAT avocado and bacon omelet. They also have excellent selection of lunch food. Sandwiches are great and the soup is always hot and tastes like home made. We go to a lot of different places for breakfast, but Elly's is by far the best breakfast restaurant in the area!
(5)Marvin G.
It's a pancake house, you have to come correct with good pancakes. They got it right. The freshly squeezed orange juice is the truth (for the pulp lovers). Crispy bacon check, cheesy eggs check and fluffy pancakes check. We good. My meal came with hash browns, it wasn't on point but my waitress was a pawg with an accent ;) nice! I like this spot. Pictures added.
(4)Penny B.
We found this place by accident a few years ago and it has become our go to breakfast joint. We have tried others but still return to this one when we are around Glenview. Good, responsive service and consistently good food keep us coming back. It is a family style restaurant and a sure thing.
(4)Katherine M.
I have been here numerous times and am always pleased. Stuffed French toast and omelettes are my favorite. The orange juice is fresh. It's a good deal and you'll get plenty of food. The wait staff is helpful and friendly. I recently came and ordered for a big group. Though they didn't all show up on time, elly's made sure everyone's food was hot and fresh! Minus one star for a poor attempt at lattes, but I'll be back!
(4)Jennifer L.
You can have your Walker Brother's and IHOP's and Denny's. Elly is my homegirl. Best breakfast joint in town. And it's unfairly close to my house, so I'm easily at its beck and call. Always great service and the price is so right it should be wrong. I feel like I always leave here paying less than I should have, which is what keeps me coming back again and again. Highlights: - The freshly squeezed orange/grapefruit juice. Killer. - Even when it's crowded, it's surprisingly quiet. Must be the "older" crowd that frequents in the early morning hours that keeps things so pleasant. And I'm okay with that.
(4)Jill M.
Great food and okay service. Very accommodating for large groups! Prices were very fair and portions average. Loved the fresh orange juice. Would have gave it 5 stars but was disappointed with the service.
(4)Netta S.
Yummy. Easy sit before 9:00 am. Fresh fruit, good coffee , and fresh squeezed juices. Light pancakes , crispy waffles. I wish they served slab bacon. Yeah baby please start serving slab bacon
(5)Miki T.
Best omelettes I've ever had! Always worth getting up early to hit Elly's for breakfast!!
(5)Samantha I.
It's the worst place ever!!!!! After waiting for about an hour the food came cold and not cooked all the way through. I will never come back to this place again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(1)Mike P.
Was in Glenview recently coming back from Mundelein and was looking for a breakfasty/brunchy kind of place....saw this place and stopped on a whim. Service was great, food was good (their omlettes are good) and even had the choice of fresh squeezed orange juice (something I have not had in ages). Bill came out a little pricier than I would have liked, but all in all a nice experience with excellent service. Will be back here if in the area.
(4)Jeffrey B.
This was probably one of the best breakfasts I have ever had! I was immediately seated and the female server was nice. It was about 630 in the morning and the restaurant was clean. I ordered the vegetable skillet. The vegetables were fresh and the potatoes were delicious. I got over easy eggs. I also told her to have the cook make the pancakes 'light' and they were cooked perfect and were light and fluffy. The coffee tasted very fresh too. I went here because I was up this way for a conference. I wish this place was closer to home!

Breakfast is so good here! The scrambled eggs, Belgian waffles, and hash browns are absolutely delicious. Great service and reasonable price also. Highly recommended!!

My hubby's family and I truly enjoyed Ellys as we celebrated Mother's Day this Sunday! The restaurant was PACKED (of course!), but luckily we had reservations and were seated with in 15ish minutes. I love family owned restaurants like this. The food was delish and the prices were right up our alley! I ordered the Spartan Omlette (without tomatoes of course) which came with hashbrowns and delicious pancakes. The hubby ordred a Patty Melt that came with a Chicken and Rice soup (which he enjoyed) and fries! The fries were so yummy! The service was good...typical solid service at an eatery such as Ellys. I definately would come back to Ellys! We enjoyed our experience!

If I could give this 3.5 stars, I would. I sometimes go to Elly's for lunch during the work week. It's got a good breakfast menu and service is good. I can't say it's the best breakfast food I've ever had (for some reason I prefer the Elly's in Mundelein), but it's pretty good. It doesn't look like the menus have been updated in awhile - they're worn and peeling at the corners, and they add additional menu items by printing them out and attaching them to the inside of the menu. I usually get a skillet (my favorite breakfast item). They use hash browns (I don't think breakfast potatoes count as skillets), but the hash browns are never very crispy. They use double yolk eggs, which I order over easy. The last time I was there, two of the yolks were over hard when I ordered over easy, but I'm not one to send food back. I just missed the runny yolk on my hash browns. I will continue to go here, but I definitely prefer the bacon and onion skillet from Butterfields to the one that I get at Elly's. Elly's is a solid breakfast place, it's just not one of my favorites.

Everything we've tried, from hash to eggs to pancakes to burgers has been delicious! The service was very friendly and attentive. All at a reasonable price!

Good food, huge portions, perfect breakfast place. We enjoyed everything.

We used to come here a few years ago then took a hiatus. Not sure why we did that but we're glad to add this back to our rotation. It's always pretty busy here on the weekends, but the wait is never more than 10 minutes or so. The coffee is good here and so are the sausage links, they are awesome! My son loves the omelettes and the fresh squeezed juice here too. All in all a pretty good breakfast place. Definitely worth a stop in!

We stayed at a nearby hotel for three days and came to Elly's every morning. On weekdays the restaurant is practically empty but on weekends, the entire restaurant is packed. The egg skillets were delicious with a generous portion. The menu states that it comes with two eggs, but on one trip I got five and another I had four eggs. Two large pancakes were included with warm maple syrup that was delicious. If you have time available, order the apple pancake... it takes about 40 minutes to make but is essentially a apple pie made with pancake batter in place of pie crust. The stuffing contains real apples and not the cheap canned apples that you may find in other restaurants. I would certainly come back for it.... the portion size is huge, bring a friend (or three) to share it. I do have two complaints. Avoid the fruit cup... it consists of a few pieces of watermelon, cantaloupe, and grapes. No berries or tropical fruit...just the cheap stuff. Also, they don't seem to like to do any substitutions... I asked if there was a way I could upgrade the included pancakes to a waffle (I was prepared to pay a little extra) but, unfortunately, they wanted me to pay full price. Minor issues.... we enjoyed Elly's.

I live in Chicago but was staying nearby Friday night. Ellys went out of their to accommodate my special request. I ordered the pancakes, bacon, and hawaii five 0 omelette. Service was excellent. Food was tasty. Portions were huge. Price was reasonable. Everything I could possibly ask for. Check it out!

The food was ok. Me and my friend had breakfast and also have had better. Fresh orange juice. The service was kind of slow too. Overall, it was an alright place to grab a quick breakfast.

The portions here are HUGE and really delicious too. They have buckwheat pancakes and their blueberry blintzes are great too. They have a juice bar so you can order fresh orange juice or grapefruit juice. Service is very prompt and friendly. The inside has a true pancake house feel and it get get really busy on the weekend yet the wait is always short and they are somehow able to accommodate everyone. They also have lots of parking right in front.

Just getting around to writing a review on this place. My wife and I were on our way to ABT Electronics so I looked up reviews on Yelp and was pleased to see mostly positive ones. Keeping in mind that breakfast places are hard to review because after all they are just "Breakfast Joints", right? Well this place was packed and people were content with waiting so we did the same. It was maybe a 10 minute wait but one seated we had a very pleasant waitress who was very helpful. The breakfast was excellent and I would point out the following for the "Breakfast Joint Tourist" . . . The pancakes were hot and yummy and they actually had real maple syrup which you rarely find in a breakfast place. It's normally some sort of corn syrup concoction or just flavored corn syrup. The real treat was when I receive my eggs over easy they were all double yolk eggs. When I asked about them the friendly waitress said that all of there eggs were double yolk. Pretty cool and I highly recommend this place if you happen to be making a shopping excursion to the worlds most amazing electronics and appliance store on the planet, ABT Electronics. Disneyland for stoves, stereos, TV's, Apple Mac's, etc . . . Oh, that needs to be a separate review!

Elly's is our favorite breakfast spot in the area by far! Coffee is strong, omelettes are fresh and they even offer buckwheat pancakes for the gluten intolerant. Elly's never fails to satisfy and all the workers are super friendly!!
(5)Kristina N.
This is the only breakfast place my family goes to. The skillets are amazing and the egg white omelets are yummy too! The potions are HUGE just how we like it. My son makes a tornado mess everytime we come here and somehow they still smile and welcome us as we come through the door hehe! You are so yummy Ellys. Thank you for keeping me breakfast satisfied throughout my pregnancy and now dealing with my son.

The coffee is delicious (it's Kona coffee), the food is delectable, the service is helpful and kind, and finally the prices are very reasonable! Love it, love it!!

Good and consistent. I really like there potato pancakes and the servers have always been friendly. They have wifi and a little espresso stand. The lattes are just ok, but hey, it's pretty cool that they serve espresso nonetheless. They also have an assortment of fresh fruit which they use to make smoothies. Pretty cool. I don't recommend the corned beef hash. It's not horrible, it's just the stuff you dump out of the can.

The pancakes here are awesome - full of flavor, fluffy, and large! Mmm, I could go for some riiiight nooooow. Big breakfast, small cost. For a breakfast place Elly's is great, the menu is quite large and the quantity of food you get is impressive considering it is possibly the most inexpensive place for breakfast/brunch. The only con is that the service was a bit slow.. it wasn't even busy :(

Big breakfasts, cheap. I'm pretty impressed with Elly's for a break fast place. They have a menu with selection that most places would die for. I'm totally convinced that if there is a breakfast food that isn't on Elly's menu, it doesn't exist. Portions are huge here. I think they must think I'm really a lumberjack or something. The food is pretty first rate given that its all simple breakfast fare. The staff is pretty friendly here. They get really busy on Sunday mornings, especially with the after church crowd, so it can be a little hectic at times. They still manage a smile on their faces, and you get your food in a timely manner. You pay up front, but don't forget to leave a tip on the table. Parking at Elly's has been tight every single time I've been here. Do everyone a favor and take one car here rather than having everyone in your group meet at the restaurant. The one downside is that Elly's doesn't have a terrible lot of atmosphere. It's decor is cheap, and has a cheesy country theme going on. Why must every breakfast joint have a country theme?

Never had a bad meal here. All the food is cooked to perfection and as requested. If there ever is a problem, just let them know and they will fix it immediately. The egg dishes are very good and priced about 1-2 dollars less then other breakfast places in the area. My Fav is the scrambled eggs and nova salmon (lox) with well done hash browns. Be prepared as there may be a wait at times for breakfast, esp. on Sunday. Open till 3pm only.

The food is always fresh and served by a friendly staff

In the world of family pancake houses....this place takes the cake. Everything is good here. Great omelettes, skillets, and pancakes. Regular coffee isn't the best (kinda weak and not the greatest tasting. but by no means horrible). Lattes and other barista drinks are decent though. Staff is generally attentive.
(4)Adele S.
I agree with David S. about the pancakes. IMHO, nobody can match Walker Brothers so it's not even worth talking about. This is why I order toast instead of pancakes. The omelettes however, were fluffy and quite good. I usually get a vegetarian with cheese. Coffee was so-so, most breakfast places have average coffee provided by Inferior(oops! I mean Superior Coffee)....if it's coffee you want, I recommend Walker Bros. or Rise n' Dine. Parking is atrocious so come early on the weekends.

I must say that Elly's runs hot and cold with their food quality and service. We have eaten at this restaurant before and had delicious omlettes and soups plus great service. However, this past week my husband, children and I ate there and found the entire experience awful from start to finish. Our hostess was very abrasive from the moment he sat us at our table. Next, came a very rude waitress that seemed bothered to wait on us as she was busy behind the counter texting. We ordered our drinks and found the "homemade" orange juice tasted unnatural. We returned the juice and asked for apple juice instead. The waitress was completely annoyed. Next came our pancakes. My entire family loves pancakes and has never complained ever about the quality of a pancake--NEVER. One of my daughter's ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and my other daughter ordered a simple stack of plain pancakes. The girls sat excited to enjoy delicious, sweet pancakes. However, This would be the first time they were not able to eat one pancake. They could eat their food because it tasted like straight baking soda in flour. We related to the waitress that our food was not ok and she said "I will get the cook, I don't make it!" and " I haven't had any complaints all morning." We ended up ordering chicken strips for our kids. We thought chicken strips would be a safe bet and the kids were very hungry by this time. I asked to speak to the manager. He was young, unprofessional and abrasive. He offered no apologies for the rude waitress and continued with his immature and unprofessional behavior. He then related that he was the owner's son and related that he stands up for his waitresses. Our chicken strips arrived in a to go box and were raw. UPDATE 10/2014 My husband and I met My parents at ELLYS as my mother likes to see her friends there in the morning I have to say this time was much better...tasty and hot omelette ..pancakes were just warm and syrup cold..but all and all a much better experience..plus great waitress upgrade

Went there to have breakfast for lunch. Great buckwheat pancakes. Skillet was amazing. Tapped into the free WiFi and coffee bar. Great place to gather around a table with friends or colleagues. Had a diner feel with the bottomless cup of coffee refills. Plenty of parking in their lot. Will definitely go back again.

My colleagues and I tend to visit this place on a weekly basis for lunch. The staff is always super friendly and helpful and the food is excellent. They give you so much for your money. So much that I usually am taking a box home for dinner or luncht the next day. If you are looking for good hearty comforting food for a low price this is the place to come!!!!

I've been eating breakfast here for 10yrs and haven't had any problems! The food is great! The prices are fair and the staff is very professional and friendly! Portions are decent as well.

i grew up eating brunch on sundays, and i loved it then, but not so much now.. service is always great but the coffee just doesn't seem as hot as it can get. pancakes are great but the blueberry pancakes are not actually made from blueberries in the batter, rather plopped on top of the pancakes. i would stick to the normal stuff, eggs, hash, sausage, ect.

I'm quite disappointed in the food quality. I ordered blueberry pancakes with a side order of scrambled eggs and a coffee. All three were not to my liking. The coffee had a burnt scent and tasted bitter.I suppose coffee preference varies from person to person but this was bad enough to make me gag a little bit. The scrambled eggs were only semi scrambled and were still runny here and there and the pancakes were not blueberry, but plain pancakes with blueberry topping poured over them. They were tough to cut and bland in flavor. The service was pretty good. Admittedly the place was rather empty but I was seated within seconds. My order was taken promptly and the food was delivered very fast. The setting inside was a bit cramped for my liking, the back of the chairs touching each other with the neighboring table, but as it happened it was empty so it didn't make a difference during my visit. The waitress was friendly, but kept asking me if I'm finished repeatedly, I felt pressured to leave before I even got 1/3 through my meal. I enjoy having my coffee and breakfast while I mull over the newspaper and check my calendar for the day and it simply makes it an uncomfortable environment when you are interrupted every 3 minutes.

It's not the Elly's in Alrington Heights, which I love and adore, but it's good. We stopped in while on a motorcycle ride and got a table quick on a Sunday morning (unheard of at the Arlington Hts location), servicer was pleasant although felt that we talked to fast to get the order right without us repeating... but did repeat to us before walking away, the food was very good and the atmosphere was comfortable. This was the second time we'd been to this location and were not sure what to expect because the service and food were not as good the first time... but definitely will return for a third visit based on this last one.

I love to go to Ellys on a Sunday brunch with my family. They have delicious omeletes and pancakes. The orange juice so fresh and coffee good. It's a nice restaurant although I gave it 4 stars because the wait is always so long!! The portions are huge so of course I always take some home and eat the rest 2 hours later haha. Its nice to go to if you're sick of IHOP, Bakers Square, etc. Prices are reasonable as well. This is the only location I ever been to and it's pretty nice.

Good food, good service. Kind of loud at times during their high peek hours.

I'm giving this joint 3.5 stars. Why? Cause for a pancake house I expected better pancakes. No! I'm not being tough. Try their pancakes and you'll know what tough is. We hit this place last Saturday for our weekend family breakfast because Glenview Delight looks like it has shut down (see review). The parking lot was packed!!! We were pretty excited and cautious at the same time. Cautious...why cautious?? That's how we always are when we try someplace for the first time. We were seated pretty promptly considering how packed that parking lot is. I'm still deciding if it's good business sense to have more tables than parking spaces or spaces than tables. Can you tell me which is better? The menu was quit large and full of the typical diner/pancake house fare. My benchmark for these kinds of places is a Western/Denver omelet with American cheese, coffee, hash browns/home fries crispy and of course...the pancakes. I asked the server, "How's the pancakes?" Her reply was, "They are good. It is a pancake house." She said it with the confidence only found in football locker rooms during the half time show when your team is only up by 3 points. So, I order them with heightened expectations. While we waited for our meal, I pounded the java (which wasn't too bad) and observed the other patrons plates. The guy in the booth next to us had a lot of food. Eggs, potatoes, some salty meat, a fluffy looking short stack and 2 big wedges of fruit that look like over grown garnishes. I was feeling good! My wife likes the fact that they have hot soup available for breakfast. Yeah, it's different. She likes savory foods more than sweet. She got chicken noodle soup for herself and our son, the migas with buckwheat pancakes on the side. The service was great about getting the soup out for our son. My wife's food was good. Mine had big tasty chunks of ham, the veggies were cut proportionately, the hash browns were nice and crispy and the cheese was missing...... Oh the humanity of it all!!! I was kind to the server...blamed the kitchen...took it as a Steinbeckian omen to cut back the fat. ::sigh:: On to the pancakes!! I examined them first, and they didn't look as fluffy as the guy sitting next to us. Ok, I'm a patient man. Before I added any maple goodness, I attempted to cut a piece for my son to gnaw on and gnaw he did! To my frustration, I had trouble cutting a single pancake with a fork. Was it the coffee? The over expectations? The lack of melted yellow dairy? It was the pancake..... Since syrup doesn't have any fat, I poured a little extra. Don't tell my wife. That can be our little secret. Not only to indulge a wee bit, but to help soften up the rough and tumble pancake. In all fairness, we will go back to try the place again because of the soup for breakfast thing. Maybe after a while.... Final yelp. On my way out of the joint, I passed an older couple in the parking lot. The gentleman asked, "So how is the place?" LOL!!! Did he ask the wrong person! I started my verbal yelping on the pancakes, in general I gave the food a compliment, then asked, "Have you been here before?" He laughed affirmatively. Then I pushed, "Do you own the place?" You never know who's asking you these kinds of question out of the blue in a parking lot. His response was a negative head shake, but a weird look in his eyes.... That's my yelp and I'm sticking to it........
