I went to the Country House for lunch again today, and had the pastrami sandwich with melted swiss cheese. It's served on a very soft, fluffy, pretzel roll, and the cover was buttered & grilled to crisp. The pretzel roll was arguably the best part of the sandwich. Tomatoes and lettuce were very fresh. Pastrami was slightly salty, but very flavorful, and even the side of mustard sauce was delicious. I'm pretty impressed! Since it's already salty, melted cheese was unnecessary, so I'd stay away from that next time. Otherwise, a very delicious lunch. P.S. As always, service was SUPER nice & attentive.

The one thing this place does have is a good selection of beers. The food on the other hand was not so great. I had the buffalo burger and my boyfriend had the country burger. I turned to ask my boyfriend how his burger was and saw him dipping it into ketchup. No need to ask, I was clearly just as dry as mine. I'd come back to hang out and have a few beers, but probably eat elsewhere.

Good burger and beer selection, great patio. not too sure I would come back and sit inside. just when its nice and I can sit on the patio

Its ok for what it is, bar food. I usually go for the 50 cent oysters on Tuesdays. Service can be a little slow, the staff is a little over laid back. I have had the wings, oysters and potatoe skins. The skins did seem to be home made and not the typical "pull out of the freezer bag" deal you find most places. They do have an outdoor patio, which I have yet to dine on. I understand that you can view the Cougars fireworks from the patio on the nights they are displayed.

Have eaten here at least 5 times in past 18 months. Food quality is eroding, I always get mini burgers, yesterday they were burnt. Service is always slow.

Friendly service and great food! My favorites include their spinach and artichoke dip, the great buffalo burger, and Carmel Walnut Apple Pie, ala mode of course.

When you want a burger, this is the place to go...buffalo, turkey and good old ground beef. You have to have it on the dark rye, it really makes the burger. The onion rings are seriously good as well. If you can, sit in the bar...the atmosphere is fun and the free popcorn and peanuts are a nice touch. Haven't been able to throw shells on the floor since the good old (and I really mean old) Ground Round days.

I loves me some blue cheese on my perfectly cooked ribeye. The crust on the key lime pie was almost as good as my own. A small selection of beer on tap, but what they have is good and not run of the mill.

Nice average place (pub-like) for lunch and after work gatherings as they have a restaurant section and a bar area. The menu has a little something for everyone. Buffalo burgers and ostrich burgers are available in addition to the standard burger and pub food fare. I usually order the Southwest chicken wrap, which is pretty good, and they allow me to get fruit instead of fries. Several appetizers are the standard deep-fried type (moz sticks, poppers, mushrooms, zucchini, onion rings) but they do have a few non-fried options (spinach & artichoke dip, Buffalo wings, nachos, potato skins...). In the bar area, drop your peanut shells on the floor. If you're with a large group, check with the bartender before moving tables around. The kitchen usually closes at 10:00 p.m. but the bar is open until 1:00 a.m. Country House is just down the road (Kirk Road) from the Fox Valley Ice Arena and right next to a Comfort Inn & Suites (Fabyan Road).

We eat here two or three times a month. The menu is different and nostalgic. My husband likes the buffalo burger or the ostrich burger. He's also a fan of the walleye pike. I prefer the breaded shrimp or the muffaletta. I recently had the baked french onion soup and was very pleased with it. The burgers are generous and they cook them YOUR way. We've also gone in and just had drinks with nachos or the Tavern Cheese Plate (love it!). Tuesday nights they have 50 cent raw oysters. We've had them and found them to taste fresh and cleaned very well. The restaurant is impressive looking outside but the decor inside it old and tired. Very dated. We prefer to eat in the bar where they serve popcorn and peanuts. You throw the peanut shells on the floor. The service seems better in the bar compared to the dining rooms. The staff are friendly and attentive. I did witness once, however, a young server walking behind an elderly man imitating him as he was shuffling his way out of the dining room. Very disrespectful thing to do in front of other diners. Disappointed that she wasn't called down for this. (As a mom I would have quietly said something to her but we were seated too far away.) All in all we like the food and it's a comfortable place to hang out.

I have to say. One of the most OVERated burgers of all time. Not sure if this is all their hype or someone actually rated them highly, but this was a huge disappointment. Absolutely the most average burger ever. Onion Rings were out of a frozen bag. This place gets 1 star for a decent beer selection and good salty popcorn

Passed by this place several times over the past few years and always said to my girlfriend, "we have got to try that place one day." Well, that one day was during this past weekend, and I don't think we will have to try it again either. Walking in, the peanut shells on the floor in the bar area screamed country / rustic, but also looked like the floor wasn't cleaned for quite some time?? Also, there was plenty to watch on the TV's, just no sound?? Wow, you really want to draw the attention to other things in your establishment?? It was a holiday weekend, so business was slow. I didn't expect the service to be even slower! Our server was extremely nice, just non-attentive! Food? Well, lets just say... everything seemed to be pre-prepared or NOT fresh! Duck Tenders were tasteless without the sauce, and the warm rasberry sauce it came with tasted like butt! PASS on these!! Tonights special was the Salmon Burger / Sandwich!! Sounded great to my girlfriend! Well, it wasn't a salmon filet (guess that was our vision for the price), but rather what looked to be a tasteless patty of skilleted fish mush! She could only take a couple bites before pushing it away, as there was no condiment that was gonna save it!! I had the popular Buffalo Burger. This entree also lacked any flavor and the tomatoes sides looked like they were cut a day or two ahead of time! Thank goodness the fries were warm and there was salt and catsup on the table, as they had no seasoning at all. A friend told me some time back that the Country House was less than what she expected. I figured I had to try for myself. Well, all I can say now is that I should have listened to her warning, and just kept on passing this place by. Roughly $60 spent for 2 entree's, 1 appetizer and 2 beers... not too reasonable either! I wonder if I had a bad night, as I see this place busy on a regular basis??

My first and only time here was a couple of years ago for a baby shower, of all things. I thought it was an odd choice for a baby shower but I went anyways because it was for someone from my husband's work. From the outside it looks very country-cozy and then you walk in and it is very dark and woody with about a handful of regulars sitting at the bar drinking at 11 AM! That was cool. HAHA! So, the shower took place off to the side in a section that was raised from the normal dining area by a few steps, so it was kind of like our own little room, minus one wall of course! The atmosphere was kind of white trash-ish and the menu we were offered was not that appealing. I tried the Cobb Salad and it was just, okay. From this experience here I probably wouldn't go back, but if someone really wanted to try it, I might make the exception and give it another try.

Had to be in Geneva, IL to meet friends over the weekend. Stopped by Country House because they've been getting a lot of praise for their burgers. Couldn't pass it up and the juicy burger topped with bacon, ham and cheese was worthy of all of the recognition. My friend's kids loved the burgers and haven't stopped talking about them. They stuffed themselves with golden brown onion rings. I had a few of the mardi gras specials including the shrimp soaked in spicy butter reminiscent of the shrimp dishes I had in New Orleans. My friend doesn't eat beef so he tried the ostrich burger and thought that it was tasty even though it was a little dry. It's an interesting spot. They go beyond the burger and have dinner items like a pretzel crusted walleyed that's good too. Good beer list. Seems to have specialty drinks around holidays like the "hurricane". Nice family friendly rooms. A fireplace. Totally worth visiting if you're in the area.

Went there this past Friday night to meet a friend for dinner. I ordered the fish with onion rings. For $12 I expected more pieces of fish. I only got 4 small pieces. The tartar sauce tasted out of a jar. The onion rings were frozen and served lukewarm. The place seemed a bit unclean. The hostess was not that friendly when we said we were meeting a friend she was confused and said no one said they were waiting for anyone. Which my friend did tell her. The servers were good, however I will not be back.

With all the great reviews we expected more. This was our first outing to The Country House. We were seated promptly in the bar area. The atmosphere was a very diverse crowd to say the least. Seemed like the after work drink spot. Was very unimpressed with the over serving of certain patrons. Onto the food. We started with Mozzarella Sticks which were very good. They were shorter than your average stick but there were plenty. We also had a bowl of the French Onion soup which was also very good served hot and melted as it should be. That was really the end of the very good food. Now you onto the burger. I wasn't impressed with it. Seemed overpriced for what you got. $13 seems a little much for a cheeseburger on a pretzel roll. The burger was hot but just your typical burger. It didn't have anything amazing about it. The real disappointment was the meatloaf special. It came out warm. The mashed potatoes were the same, warm and not an abundance of flavor. The gravy had the "sitting around" layer over it. The corn was so warm and felt like it sat also. Really felt like it was made hours earlier and served when needed. Wasn't impressed with country house. Probably pass on our next go around.

My whole family did the petite fillet mignon. Very reasonable price and you get two plus one side. We "coupled up" and split it and added an extra side to each plate. I also had some of the chipotle corn chowder soup! It was perfect not too spicy but a nice kick. Our server was on top of our drinks with our large party of 10. The food was delish I look forward to dining again! Also they have warm loaves of bread you can add for $2.

Just got back from a dinner date with a lovely friend. I had heard about Country House from a few people at my work (they worked there weekends for a second job) but I never actually ventured inside. The place itself is very homey, and reminds me a lot of a log cabin inside. We were hoping to sit on the patio but it was jam packed and had a waitlist since this was one of maybe 5 nice days we've had this fine summer of '15. We sat in the bar section and each ordered a beer. They had a few on tap, but I'm used to massive beer lists so I was scratching my head trying to find a beer that I would like. I struck out twice. Oh well. We shared an order of mozz sticks (so cute! They looked like baby carrots) and I had the duck tenders (tasted like chicken and were very dry) and my friend had the chicken pasta (she said it was good but spicy). We split a key lime pie and it kicked ass all over the place. I liked it here, I'd give it another chance and try something else on the menu. Or maybe just get like five key lime pies, I dunno.

My husband and I came here on a Saturday night and it was NOT packed. Maybe that should've been an indication of what was to come. They tried seating us in an area with probably 20 middle school kids from some sort of team, but we politely declined and they brought us to a quieter room. I ordered a fish filet, but it had not been de-boned. I had maybe 2-3 bites that all had bones in them and sent it back. That is absolutely unacceptable for a restaurant. An amateur chef, maybe, but not at a restaurant. When I sent it back, the waitress told me "it comes that way, so that's how we serve it". Huh, a fish filet comes with bones...and you have to take them out. We also had the duck tenders which were good, but there was barely any duck in them, mostly just breading. The rest of our meal was average. My husband didn't tell me this til after we left, but he said he could visibly see dust on the floorboards, even from 10-12 feet away. The floor was visibly dirty. The kitchen was quite dirty as well (from what I could see from my seat). We won't be back.

We stopped by for a quick dinner after golf and had a great experience. I had the pretzel-crusted walleye which was HUGE and delicious and cheap, particularly by Chicago standards. My husband had the special and really enjoyed his as well. We also thought the service was great. Our poor server had a large party of complainers right next to us to deal with, but treated us exceptionally well. I accidentally spilled my entire glass of wine in her direction, and she was kind enough to replace it. The manager also stopped by to ask about our experience. We don't always go to Batavia...but when we do, we will definitely come back here.

I've driven by here dozens of times over the years and finally decided to have dinner there tonight. Now I know I wasn't missing anything all this time. That said, there was nothing bad about it either. Burgers were good but not the best, steak was fine but not great. Decent selection of draft beers but nothing to write home about. Server was perfectly nice but busy so not overly attentive. All in all nothing stood out one way or another. I know I won't make a special trip to eat there again, but if I'm in the area I might go back. No complaints, but no praise. A resounding "so-so!"

After a round of disc golf at the course on 31, my friends, family, and I stopped here for dinner. I have only been here once and I am rarely in the area so this review is pretty much based on this one experience. It's a good thing it was a good experience! They have a sign on the front door warning about the presents of peanuts for those with allergies. I always like places that you can eat peanuts and throw the shells on the ground. Except the room we were in, maybe it was the peanut free room, but we didn't get to partake in the fun. A few of us got burgers and a few got the sausage platter. I got a make your own burger, which was cooked precisely how I requested, and the toppings were fresh. The steak fries were pretty standard, and bland. I wish they would have offered seasoned fries instead. The sausage platter was delicious from what I heard next to me. There was a TV in our little area so we could stay up to date with Sunday afternoon football. The waitstaff was pleasant and accurate. And the bathrooms were clean and stocked. I would definitely consider coming back if I was in the area. Especially after seeing the neat deck overhanging the pond outside.

We love this place! My wife always gets the same thing: Ostrich burger, medium rare, on light rye. She loves it, and it's the only place (that we know of) that has Ostrich on the menu (if anyone knows of any others, please let me know!). I have several favorites that I rotate between: the standard burger is great, but I also like the buffalo burger on occasion, and have been getting the top-shelf burger lately. I also love the pretzel-crusted walleye, and they have the best steak fries. Now that I'm writing this, I think we may have to go there for dinner tonight!

Nice restaurant with a great location, a stand alone, with no other restaurants or businesses near it. The French onion soup is good on a cold night. They have a variety of delicious hamburgers and their pork chops are outstanding!

Food was awesome - service was a bit challenged our server attempted to take orders from three tables at the same time - order therefore came out in the wrong order!! You would think if you arrived with a party of two your food would be out bride a party of eight --the weight was too long for my taste ...... Note to the owner - one order at a time so all food arrives in a fair order!!

Bison burger with cheddar and grilled onions was excellent! The Sunday afternoon music selections were a perfect mix. Only critique is that the syrup to carbonated water ratio in the soft drinks could stand about a 15% increase in syrup.

Long time customer, actually to the point of stuffing complimentary "Country House" match boxes into my pockets like they are gold ingots, I don't smoke, its just compulsive! (Big Smile). I like this place because it is a consistent, very tasty Burger Patty. The burger patty in my opinion is double ground, and double ground again to a consistency that "Country House" would prefer you "Walk-a-Country mile" before an explanation Please refer to the attached pic as a descriptive. We are talking Burgers here! BUT only 3 stars!!! The dried out dark rye bread is "Pissed Off" that it has to compete with FROZEN French Fries moisturized in salty ketchup. ...notice the PBR.

I hadn't been to a Country House in about 15 years and I had forgotten how much I loved this place. First, huge bonus points for the fact that you can throw peanut shells on the floor. Every table gets a bowl of peanuts and a bowl of popcorn and the floor is littered with shells. You don't see that much anymore because peanuts are now treated like the ebola virus, so it was great to see. I ordered their standard burger and it is now in my top 5 burgers of all time. I absolutely loved the burger and the steak fries were done to perfection as well. They have a nice selection of beers on tap, including local favorites. I sat at the bar and while the bartender wasn't very friendly at all, she was prompt with the refills and service. I will definitely be back and it will be sooner rather than later. If you love a good burger you owe it to yourself to check this place out.

This place is about one thing: burgers. My go-to is the buffalo with cheddar (or Monterey jack) and grilled onions. It's amazing that buffalo tastes so much like beef, yet is lower in fat. This time, I also went with the pretzel roll. Believe me, for an extra dollar it is so worth it! I'm not in love with steak fries typically, so I went with veggies this time. Broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, and zucchini came out steamed just right. In the past, I've had the duck tenders and they're worth a try. The raspberry BBQ sauce is pretty sweet, but it's a good twist on chicken fingers and standard BBQ sauce. My iced tea and water glasses didn't get totally empty, so I was good with the service. I'm looking forward to warmer weather so I can sit on the patio overlooking the pond.

I didn't really enjoy myself here. Service was good, the atmosphere was good and the restaurant felt clean. All was good but the food was just food. Nothing made it stand out from other restaurants. Burgers are ok ( which is supposed to be their specialty) and a tad I'd the high priced side. My daughter had pulled pork that she didn't like. This place is on Kirk Rd only five minutes from downtown St Charles with tons of food offerings. I'd suggest you skip this one.

This place has its things it does very well, so I come here a lot for them. Everything else had always been a disappointment to me. The burgers are always good... especially with the pretzel roll and grilled onions. I like their onions rings too. The COBB Salad is good too. Very fresh. The French Onion soup is good. Very traditional tasting. And finally whenever they have pumpkin bread pudding, it's a must get. Other then that, I've never been satisfied with anything else. I have tried a bunch of stuff and is just average at best. The service here is very relaxed, meaning not the best but not horrible. The atmosphere is very relaxed too... and if you sit outside and get an umbrella table is great. I never have though add they go first and then I'm always fighting with the sun and bugs. It's a nice place to take people too as it looks very cool and stands out around the area. So 3 outta 4 stars seems fair since the couple things I like, I like a lot. Not the cheapest burger either.

I have driven past soooooooooo many times, and finally had an opportunity to stop in for dinner. It was a wintry, Saturday evening and our timing was perfect. We requested someplace warm ~ and we got the only table smack in front of the fireplace in the bar area. Very toasty :) Peanuts and popcorn while you wait. They are known for their burgers, so we ordered burgers. Our wait time was minimal, as a matter of fact, I had not even finished my soup when my burger was put down next to me. As we were dining, the place began to fill up and we took a little peek around as we left. It has a kind of White Fence Farm feel to it, multiple rooms and much smaller than I had expected from the outside. The TVs were positioned funny and I could not see one directly from where I was sitting so I think they missed the mark on that. Also, if you ate at the bar, a small try was placed in front of you because of the curvature of the front of the bar. This is obviously a family dining place, no drunken rowdies here. I think on a pleasant evening ( the outdoor seating is on the west side of the building) outdoors would be nice. Nothing special and the comfort station desperately needs attention.

Service- decent service Food- I ordered a steak and a piece of fish with French fries and the steak was very juicy and flavorful. The fish was a good and the fries were a little over mediocre. Overall- will keep going back

This is a neat restaurant with cool decor and an even better patio. We stopped by on a warm summer day for lunch and loved the outdoor seating. Our server had clearly been working there quite some time. She was quick to recommend one of their specials of the day, so I ordered some type of Southwest chicken wrap with a side of ranch, and fries. Hubby ordered a burger. I received everything but the ranch, but had a seriously hard time tracking down our server (or any server!) to obtain it. I ate about half my meal before getting the side of ranch. Hubby was immediately disappointed he didn't order the German plate that was on the menu. The burger was okay, but nothing to write home about, and he wished he had tried something different instead. It's a great place to relax and have a drink, but I don't know that I'd go out of my way to eat here again.

Was very good! Bun could have been better just the standard commercial bun but the meat was really good. Got the top shelf burger and it was juicy. Had the coleslaw meh just standard, and their country house Irish red beer, very good.

We had wanted to try this place for some time and I am glad we finally did. I was a beautiful day so luckily we sat out on their beautiful deck. The special was a fried chicken BLT that was really really great. Im just sad it was a special on not on the everyday menu. The chicken was freshly fried crisp and perfect. I really like all the side options other than fries (that looked like out of the bag huge slabs ...no thanks) The rings hit the spot. My wife had a a very good burger, the menu was fairly large and had some interesting things that well be back to try...especially in appetizers. .

I came across the Country House Restaurant during a trip to the Chicago Premium Outlets. The Country House Restaurant is about 10 -15 mins south of the outlets and offers an array of burgers, exotic burgers i.e. ostrich and buffalo, steaks, ribs, and chicken. Country House Restaurant looks like an oversized log cabin with an outdoor patio. The interior is divided into two dining sections and a bar. The dining area is cozy, quaint, and kinda dark. My grandma was with me and I had to be careful that she didn't trip on the stairs. Country House Restaurant offers an array of appetizers, beers, and wine. I noticed a few craft beers and a tasty wine from Monterey California. We ordered BBQ wings for an appetizer and they were pretty tasty. The wings were chargrilled and served with ranch dressing, carrots, and celery. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with grilled onions and a grilled sesame bun. The sandwich lacked a bit of flavor but the grilled onions made up for it. One of the diners ordered a steak that smelled delicious. I would definitely recommend Country House Restaurant if you are in the area.

Knew I wanted to try a burger since it's what they are known for. I had a hard time deciding between the buffalo/bison and the ostrich burger. I went with the bison. You get the make it your own and select your bread/bun, cheese, toppings and side. I had an onion roll with monterey jack cheese, jalapeños, grilled onion and avocado. They give you a side of tomato and lettuce. It was really tasty. Sweet potato fries were just OK, maybe missing the seasoning? I wouldn't order them next time for the extra $1. They have a nice big south/west facing patio. WAs nice to be outside on a great day. Indoor decor is very dated looking. Service was very good. Will go back to have the Ostrich burger.

Great food, fast and friendly service. Our waitress was super friendly, smiling and treated us like we were old friends. The French onion soup arrived piping hot and loaded with cheese. It's always a gamble ordering something new on your first visit to a place, but the muffuletta sandwich was perfect! When we're in the Geneva area again, we'll make it a point to eat there again '

Generally bad experience here. I have been to their other locations and things were always ok...not great, but acceptable. We arrived on a Sunday night, the place was about 1/2 full. The server wanted to seat our party of 7 at a table for 5 and right in the entrance to the room, literally in the walkway. When I asked for a different table I got big attitude from the hostess/server who stomped off and without word set a more appropriate table in an adjacent room. Fortunately the new server was much more professional. The food, not good. Salad had seen better days. My blackened fish sandwich was pasty white and flavorless, no blackening spices to be found. It didn't even taste like it had salt and pepper. Oh well. We won't be returning any time soon.

This was my second visit to CH, and to be honest, it is just okay. The place looks alot bigger than it is. We had a party of 14, and we actually weren't able to sit at the same table, even though we had a reservation for about a week. Anyways, I ordered french onion soup as my appetizer. I should have remembered that it's nothing special. It epitomizes the experience of CH, at least for me. I also burned my mouth on the soup, so at least it's coming out hot. I ordered a buffalo burger, cooked medium. IT was actually the saving grace of the meal. I ordered fresh vegetables, cooked without butter, but alas, they were doused in butter. They also messed up my cousin's order. He ordered the filet without mushrooms (which he despises), and of course, the steak came covered in shrooms. I gladly took them off his hands, but that's two mistakes, and we were sitting right next to each other. We didn't want to have loogies in our food, so we bit the bullets. Everyone else seemed satisfied with their orders, which included ribs, burgers, fish n chips, and paninis. Unfortunately, the service on my second visit was nothing near as good as the first time. The waitress was terrible with drinks. It's not that hard with the bar right next to us to keep our drinks full. it seemed like everyone had to ask twice, and we weren't even being overzealous. This place is in a good location, with minimal competition in the immediate area. I will say the buffalo burger is five star, but the rest of the experience leaves much to be desired.

First time we did take out here. Great food and on line ordering experience Ordered the German Wurst sampler and Ribeye steak along with the mini cheese sticks with their on line menu Both meals cheese sticks were very good and cooked perfectly. They had everything ready within 25 minutes and food was ready to go when we arrived. Would definately go back.

I drive down kirk road on my way to my boyfriends house all the time and the country house always looked so appealing. Well, we walked in the doors to find that this beautiful and massive building on the outside is this oddly chopped up space with really lack luster look and layout on the inside. Not only was the atmosphere a little disappointing, but so was my meal. I love fish'n chips...it's a pretty easy food to make. The fried part was doughy and not cooked long enough and my boyfriend's buger was cold when they brought it out. Our server was nice, but the overall experience wasn't something that would make us go back. To top it off the food has made me sick all day.

Had the burger of the week: chipotle bacon cheeseburger. It was awful. The bun was soggy, the burger wasn't cooked right, and it was just plain sloppy. Not what I expected from a place that boasts such a good burger. It would take a lot of convincing for me to go back there seeing as how getting a burger right is a simple litmus. Also, our server didn't care to come around to often.

My wife and I ate at the country house after reading some good reviews on yelp. Our burgers were decent, but nothing wonderful. Our server was polite. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a very obnoxious and obviously drunk table. They were loud and swearing, which made it hard for my wife and I to enjoy our evening. I would have been less irritated by the way the table next to us behaved if we were seated in the bar. I did not expect such disruptive behavior in the restaurant. We were so uncomfortable that we quickly ate and left. We hoped the restaurant staff would have done something to settle the unruly table down. Our server did nothing. Countless other staff members passed by and did nothing. Part of going out for dinner is enjoying your experience. We didn't. We felt the restaurant should have done something to make sure the out of control table didn't disrupt others.

We met up with a large group of old and new friends here last night. These techies are regulars here, but it was our first visit. We were off in our own room, which was a good thing because there were lots of techie gadgets, doodads and gizmos, which made the night really interesting. The service we received was really good. I loved that we could all pay separately for our meals as there were at least 20 of us. The waitstaff dealt with the group with ease and kept up on everything. I had a cup of the Wisconsin Cheese Soup. It was good, but I wish the flavor had been a tad stronger. I also ordered the German Sausage Platter. The sausage (3 different kinds) come from Elburn Meat Market, one of my favorite places in the region, so it was all good. They served it with German Potato Salad and Sauerkraut, Loved it. Christopher had the special Cowboy Burger, that had onion strings, BBQ sauce, bacon, etc. He said it was pretty good, but not knock your socks off special. I know we will be back to share more fun times with our friends, so I will tweak this review as we try more items on the menu. Right now, it is a solid 3 1/2 stars.

Stopped here after a Cougars game on a late Sunday afternoon. Greeted by a friendly hostess who put us in an awkward room to the right of the door. Even though we had a window seat to the parking lot, keeping a conversation up was difficult with the feeling of other guests on top of you. Very awkward. Our server greeted us, but gave us the feeling she didn't want to be there. Sadly our server sort of set the tone for our experience there after. We received our food, and honestly we've had better from similar types of restaurants. Overall, the experience from start to finish will probably keep us on the road to a different eating spot. Maybe it started wrong by not sitting near the bar, or outdoors on their spacious deck. Two stars.

Great place. Always go in for the Ostrich Burger. Reasonable prices, good service and the food is always consistent. There are always daily specials, new items, and updates. Definitely a place to check out if you are in the area. A favorite when stopping in to watch some local minor league baseball down the road.

Why does this place only have 3 stars? I ordered a Gluten Free burger and it was awesome! I ate all of it which made me so full I could barely move, but I was fine with that! haha The outdoor patio is pretty and I can't wait to go back :] TIP: the potato salad is out of this world!

The food and selection of beer is very good. The baked clam appetizer is awesome and the 59 cent oyster Tuesday is the best!

Was looking forward to eating here and my god...can they do anything right! We didn't get silver wear when our meals came out, our Arnold Palmer was just tea, orders were wrong and after sending back a burger twice for a hair being cooked in we were done with this place.

My family and I have been customers here for about a decade now, and it never fails to disappoint me. We always start off with an appetizer of mini cheese-sticks or spinach-artichoke dip with fried pita chips (I wish I could order a bag of them). Then, we order the main course, from a plethora of food choices. Their burgers are great and make sure to order it with a pretzel bun and a half order of fries and onion rings on your plate! HOWEVER, I recently found my favorite item on the menu: Pretzel-crusted walleye served with mixed veggies and fries (or onion rings or both!) Service is consistent and no complaints from me. The Good: -Decor is simply unique-artwork is interesting and it has a cozy atmosphere. -Lots of side combinations! Also free popcorn/peanuts at bar tables! The Bad: -My favorite food is the walleye but sometimes it can be over-cooked or with MANY bones still inside of it. -A slight bit pricey, but worth it

I use to love the burgers, but had one tonight and they have declined in quality. Forget the pretzel bun, it's awful and the sweet potato fries? barely edible. i don't plan on coming back here again

This was our first time at the restaurant. I went with my sister, and we were both very pleasantly surprised. We both had the buffalo burger, although i was quite tempted to try the ostrich burger. The burgers are 1/2 pound, so they are quite sizable portions. It was done quite well, and both the potato salad and onion rings (our sides) were very good as well. The buffalo burger runs $11.99, unless you get it with special toppings. For a half-pound buffalo burger that seems rather reasonable to me. Also our server Renee was attentive and efficient. Renee also talked to us about the Ream brats that they serve during Bears (and most) football days. Plus she signed my sister up on their frequent diner program, which is a nice touch. The beer and wine are reasonably priced. The food was good. The balcony was great. We'll be back.

The Buffalo burger was cooked to perfection.. Had it with Swiss cheese and the potato salad for a side. Worth every penny. Atmosphere was great and as an avid traveler, enjoyed the staff and accommodations very much!

What a great place after graduating from Northern Illinois University to go to for dinner! We had a reservation for 15 and they gave us the choice between two tables of eight or one table of fifteen. Since I didn't want people to feel separated, I went with the long table, like King Arthur. I am the King! Anyway, I started off with a few beers and the chili! It was excellent, I only got a cup, but I will be honest, it was HUGE. I didn't see the receipt (since I didn't pay) but it had pork, chorizo, and beef. YA BABY! I went with the steak, mushrooms, and vegetables since I was getting wasted on Miller Lite. Not really though, just buzzed, like Pearl. A few people got dessert, but I stuck to adult sodas. I highly recommend CH...people in my party liked ostrich, buffalo, steak, and ribs! Thank goodness I have a great family!

I've been here quite a few times... my favorites are their Salmon Sandwich everything about this sandwich is good! The Buffalo Chicken dip is also delicious. They have endless meatloaf on Thursdays (forgot the price). The restaurant is big and they have several places to sit at (bar/dining rooms). Also, I forgot which day but they have funnel cake sundae's for $3.99 (sooooo good!)

While I've been a frequent visitor to Country House, my recent visit on 3/27/14 was a disappointment . I ordered the steak sandwich at $14.99, which consisted of one meager beef medallion, undercooked, and my guest ordered a Reuben sandwich, which was meager, to say the least, at a cost of $9.99. Seems you're raising your prices, and reducing the quantities of your offerings. Somehow spending $30 for two entrees, and going away hungry doesn't seem right, especially considering the competition for dining experiences in Geneva.

Great casual dining. I was very impressed by the unique touches to the menu choices, like Ostrich or Buffalo burgers, along with Duck tenders for an appetizer. I had the Ribeye which was cooked perfectly to order and all the food served was fresh and well made. I also loved the warm atmosphere and low lighting. Makes for a delightful dinner out. I definitely recommend this place. I look forward to going again, soon.

Always a great place for a meal. They have a lot of great specials. Service is usually pretty good.
Very unique and different place to visit! The Buffalo and Ostrich Burgers are awesome and they have many other unique items on the menu that cross many "borders and waters," They seem to have a great clue on the authenticity of the unique items as well. Whatever you have a taste for they've got it covered for the most part. I wish they had more of a salad selection, but they do have some healthy items on the menu that work just as well. I love the peanuts on the floor or popcorn to snack on in the bar area, too.

My first visit here with two friends who call it one of their favorite. It didn't disappoint. Our steaks topped with bleu cheese were tasty and tender and the sweet potato fries were a perfect compliment. We splurged on pumpkin bread pudding with cinnamon ice cream and the upside down carmel walnut apple pie, both to die for. A large table of Bears fans seemed to be enjoying the game with burgers and beer.

This is a very nice place located in Geneva. They feature quite a few burgers, all half-pound, ranging from beef to bison to ostrich. Lots of large salads to choose from for those not into meat, and there is a veggie burger which actually looked pretty good. We started out with the loaded nachos, topped by cheese, diced tomatoes, lettuce and chorizo, with salsa, jalapenos and sour cream on the side. These were great! I was going to go with the bison burger, but decided on the southwest breaded pork tenderloin sandwich. It offers options of baked potato, fries or onion rings. I opted for the rings which were delish. The pork tenderloin was fantastic and huge, served on a fresh torta roll, which really made the whole sandwich. Topped with pepper-jack cheese and fresh sliced avocado and southwest ranch on the side. They have tons of craft beers to choose from and a decent wine selection along with a full bar.

I ordered the award winning country burger and it was delicious. They had a special where they added a ghost pepper sauce to the budget I would highly recommend, not too spicy but just the perfect kick. I would definitely come back and have another burger.

I've been coming here for many years. It used be a favorite place to go sit in the bar area, have a good burger and a couple of beers for a reasonable price. Then things started changing. One evening we (party of 2) ordered the usual - 2 burgers, a few draft beers and a couple glasses of wine. The bill came to around 70 bucks. That seems like a lot for a casual burger and beer evening for 2. The Buffalo Burger - which is great - is now up over 13 bucks, Its a good burger, but 13 bucks good? I'm not feeling it. I know the whole point of running a business is to make as much money as you can and they have the right to charge as much as they want. As for me, there are too many other good burger and beer joints in the area to make the Country House worth the expense. See you CH, we had a good run.

Just not good enough to care. I mean, the atmosphere is nice, the service is friendly and realistic (which is my way of saying our server sat at the bar and ate and it didn't bug me). But the food tastes just like "whatever" chain food. Burgers? A bit dry. Steak fries? Soggy. Price? A touch high. So I just don't really care enough to say I hated it or I liked it. And generally, I think that's a bad sign.
Decent food, decent service. It's nothing to get super excited about, but it's the closest sit-down restaurant to our house that serves dinner and the prices are reasonable. I still haven't gotten a chance to eat on the patio, I'd love to do it one night.

Decided to give this place a try on an unseasonably warm Sunday afternoon and sit outside on the deck. Our waitress was just plain unpleasant. I don't know if she assumed that we weren't going to tip well or what but she gave us pretty bad service (my girlfriend and I are both servers and tip really well when we get good service). Had to wait for water refills more than a couple times, wings appetizer was dry and overcooked, salmon sandwich lacked flavor, pork tenderloin with pepperjack and avocado was decent, but quite greasy. Best part of the visit was probably sitting outside overlooking the pond with a couple ducks just duckin around.

Go here for lunch regularly and really enjoy it. I am usually not too adventurous with lunch but I have never had a bad soup or bowl of chili or sandwich. In fact I am kind of obsessed with their chili as it tastes like it is made with italian sausage or some other wonderful seasoned meat. I like the space itself, simple wooden interior with a great patio to enjoy during the warmer months overlooking a small pond. Yes, I know we just feet away from Kirk Rd and Fabyan, a busy intersection but it is one of the best patio's in Geneva and a great place to soak in a few rays at lunch. Good beer selection that I usually do not get to enjoy and a lot of food specials everyday. They also have ostrich, buffalo and mussels which are not necessarily on every menu these days. A buddy who is allergic to chicken liked the ostrich burger. I say four stars because it is very consistent experience and food. I will say that some servers are phenomenal and some are forgettable which is my primary reason for losing a star. Good food and good price range make this a good spot for lunch or a pint!

Ostrich burger, medium well, on dark rye bread, with a side of vegetables = my standard order. And that's why I love this place. I guess some folks would be grossed out by the ostrich, but it's the leanest meat, not greasy. It's the only way I'll eat a burger. I prefer the Geneva location...the service in Lisle is terrible, and while the Clarendon Hills location is quaint, it's also a snug fit.

What can you really say about a farmhouse kinda restaurant? How can you complain about a place that you really have no expectations about? We had two plates of food and a few drinks. Good, not very expensive and just ''homey''. 4,000,000 peanut shells on the floor are a bonus?

Took my wife and daughter shopping on a Monday, stopped here for lunch. MISTAKE! I will not stop by, ever again. Food, over priced a bit, and wildly forgettable. Burger for 11.00 was ok, but forgettable. Soup, ok, my wife's chicken sandwich was again, equally average and forgettable. 40.00 lunch for three, and it was at best....VERY average. Now the service, horrific, tried to get her to take our order, no luck. We were literally taking bets on when she'd show, and how long it would take to see food. Miserable place, average food......pass. I have a Yelp rule of thumb, only patronize places with four or more stars.......this is NOT a place to eat.

4:30, 4th of July, nothing in the fridge...went to Country House and are we glad we did !! Not crowded at all.......we had excellent service, the room we were in was quiet and cool. The Turkey Stacker sandwich was like Thanksgiving on a bun...it was great. I carried home a half sandwich because it was so big. My husband had the pastrami and said it was excellent. He had the unsidedown caramel-apple pie...and he's still smiling ! I'd give it 5 stars !!!

I was a little underwhelmed by the variety on the menu as most of it is beer food: fried or inbetween two slices of some type of bread, and sided by french fries. However, not only is the lodge atmosphere family friendly, the food really is tasty. Not at all a bad spot, although I did have to drive way out in the countryside -- newbies to the area are warned to be well armed with a map and directions or else risk getting lost and driving to Iowa if you're not careful.

First things first: I'm there right now. I'm leaving if I don't get acknowledged in some way before I finish this. It's Thursday night, about 7:30. Plenty of parking spaces free, so not very busy, and I see a lot of waitstaff flitting about. I stood at the front desk thing for long enough to check my Facebook, respond to a couple things, post a picture and tag some people, then figure out where my business cards were to throw one in the bowl. 4-5 minutes? I started sticking my head into the various areas (bar, indoor dining, women's bathroom, etc) and was eventually asked if I was looking for something by a women who wasn't wearing any kind of uniform like the rest of the staff was (red shirts). I asked if this was a "seat yourself" kind of place, in a manner that I thought was very casual in a "totally cool if it is" kind of way. She seemed to be miffed by this. She took me to the outdoor seating, which was nice. Elevated deck with a view of some rolling farmland. There are 3 groups of people out here, all of whom appear to be done eating. She seats me at a table, hands me a menu and walks off. Menu is pretty standard extended bar food. Burgers and wraps and wings and the like. I'm going to try the veggie burger, as they brag about it and I'm always searching for that promised one that doesn't taste like the cardboard box hipster soy beans use to keep their LPs in. It's been a few minutes now, right? It took me a bit to think up that last joke. I'm going to start keeping track now. I've watched 2 waitresses come in and out of the deck area several times; just refilling water, and handing out checks. One of them has actually started bussing tables, even though there are plenty clean ones still, and nobody has acknowledged me. I haven't even been given my obligatory glass of water. I don't know why. I don't look to be out of the age range of this place's demographic. There are a lot of obese people here, but not so many that I look out of place. I bet the portion sizes are good here. I do have my motorcycle helmet on the table, and I didn't see any motorcycles in the lot, so maybe they don't take kindly to bikers. I don't really look like a "biker" though. In fact, I'm just in jeans and a polo, like most people here. More of the same has happened. None of the staff will even look at me. I have no idea why. It's been 11 minutes since I started keeping track. I think it's time to go.

The exterior of the restaurant is very nice, it gives the impression of an upscale restaurant. It is really more of a diner/family style establishment, which is ok (I like both). However, we came here to for a celebration and were a bit disappointed. We tried the burger (beef), buffalo burger, french onion soup, coleslaw, and fries. The food was ok - no complaints, but it didn't blow my mind.

I enjoy going to this place, especially after a round of golf with the boys at the nearby Settlers Hill Golf Course. They have pretty tasty burgers of all varieties: beef, buffalo, ostrich, turkey and veggie. I've also had the Southwest Breaded Pork Loin. The day I had it, though, it seemed to be a sub-par piece of meat, but I am willing to give them another shot. The service is friendly, and it's a decent place to go watch a game and have a beer or two along with your juicy burger. Enjoy.

Country house is a solid restaurant. It has some typical american fare which is ok. Our service was good even though the place was packed. Wife had the prime rib and i had a buffalo burger, The steak was cooked well and the burger was HUGE. All in all a decent place.

I will never bother to dine there again. The portions are no different then Chilli's so the whole notion that this restaurant has big portions to support their elevated prices is a bunch of ______! Anyways, I started off with a Minestrone soup that was suppose to have italian sausage and all that there was in this $3.49 CUP of soup was broth and veggies! Then I ordered the Chicken Grilled Panini with Steak Fries. Neither the Panini nor the fries had much flavor however the dish it's self was $9.99! My kids glass of Chocolate milk was $2.00 a cup! This place is not worth all the money they charge and the service is VERY MEDIOCRE. We had to wait and almost ask to be seated. My kids were so ready to be seated and the place was practically empty! However the hostess thought it was better to just let us stand around with squirmy, hungry kids then to seat us at one of the many clean empty tables! Please go to Chilli's if you want a burger. At least their fries have salt on them.

My meal started with a bowl of chipotle corn chowder. It was completely bland and flavorless. It was pretty much a cream soup with no flavor or texture. It was also served in an extremely large soup bowl. I would rather have less of something good than a large portion of terrible soup. Two other people that were in my party felt the same way and didn't eat it either. My main course was ribs and a potato. This was the first time I've had ribs from anywhere that were completely inedible. They were charred on the outside and completely soggy throughout. I don't know what preparation they used. My guess is they took some frozen cooked ribs out of the freezer, boiled them to unthaw, and then grilled them to slightly char the outside. They were so gross. My girlfriend was eating her salad when a mist came down from the dirty vent on the ceiling. The bathrooms were also gross. This was one of those places where I was just happy I didn't get sick after eating there. F-

We enjoy having dinner here before Fermi Lab lectures. Always busy, but you still get great attention from the staff, friendly and efficient, and the food is always so very good! BUT - the best part is - - I lost my purse there last evening. When I realized this, I called, the manager searched the parking lot - called back and said he didn't find it. But (again) this morning, he called, and someone had turned it in . . YEA! The manager was nearly as happy as I. Great place - great people - great food!

I came here for a business meeting and all I can say is... eh. The menu is kind of blah. Sandwiches, burgers typical pub like food. I ordered the Moffelata (sp?) which was decent and the guys I was with both ordered the buffalo burgers. We had the buffalo dip as an app and was unimpressed. It basically consisted on cream cheese, blue cheese, franks hot sauce and shredded chicken heated up. Pretty average. Lady luck was not on our side when we walked in the door. Apparently, we came in after a huge party sat down and we had to wait FOREVER to get our food. Also we were seated at a table that was pretty much right in front of the passage way. It was a tight squeeze and anyone walking into the room bumped at least one of us on the way by. Not good if you are conducting private business. Overall it was just an average experience. Convenience is the only that they really have going for them. There aren't any other restaurants in close proximity

i've been going to all country house locations for years. their food is outstanding, especially the burgers, of course. their french onion soup is my favorite. if i don't order a burger, i'll usually opt for the shrimp snack which is also delicious. we usually can get a table without waiting because we eat later in the evening. the outdoor patio is nice in warm months. ordering ahead and picking up for take-out is always a breeze and they always take our order correctly. i would have given five stars, but this particular location isn't my favorite (i prefer the clarendon hills location best). we keep going back because we know exactly what to expect each time: good food trumps mediocre service. guess they're lucky that way.

Took the kids and my dad over on Saturday night around 5:45 pm and got seated in the crowded "kids section" off to the right. Our linebacker waitress Ellen T (seriously the Bears should send some scouts here) was pretty bothered when we arrived, and my father was getting nervous because he needed a beer in the worst way (believe me, I needed one worse). It took quite a while for us to place a drink order, and even longer to order dinner....ever been out with 3 hungry kids and one hungrier father? Crabby service and big/mean waitress are not a good fit...although it did get better as the night went on..... Kids like the coloring menu and crayons they give (hostess was excellent) and the food is solid. I had the french dip, it was great and juicy, while my father had the pastrami (he liked it) and the kids had the spaghetti and chicken tenders. Portion sizes are "hearty" - thus the big waitresses. While we consumed several beers, the kids enjoyed large ice creams. All in all a pretty good night. We don't eat here that often, and its probably because it always ends up costing me over a hundred dollars!! 1 mozz sticks 6.25 - these were OUTSTANDING, they are minis but everyone LOVED them 1 spaghetti 3.25 3 Sundae Jr 11.85 1 kids soda 2.00 -- Kind of RUDE to charge for lemonade 1 k-chix tenders 4.95 2 Guinness 20 oz 9.50 1 hot pastrami 9.45 1 k-spaghetti 3.25 4 Warst Pint 19.00 -- whoops, that was me 1 French Dip w/ch 8.75 Total - $84.15

Burger or Hamburger is savored as the most desired fast food meal in the United States. A hamburger is basically a sandwich prepared by stuffing ground meat patty, generally beef, between two slices of a bun cut in half. Hamburger is also famous for its seasoning. Most popular condiments used in hamburgers in the United States are mustard, mayonnaise, and ketchup. Besides ground meat patty, hamburgers are also stuffed with lettuce, onions, tomato slices, pickles, and cheese.
Hamburgers are also categorized into two types in the United States. Fast food hamburger and individual hamburgers served at restaurants are two basic types of burgers served in the United States. The individual hamburgers served at restaurants are prepared using everything including lettuce, onion, tomato, and sliced pickles as well as melted cheese on the patty or crumbled on top. American restaurants also serve veggie burgers for those who don't relish meat. Cheeseburgers are also hot favorite in the United States.
McDonalds is the most popular fast food burger restaurant serving different types of burgers in the United States. On the other hand, there are several restaurants such as Burger King are famous for serving the best hamburgers in the United States.

(3)Caroline S.

(5)Bill T.
(4)Kent W.
I loves me some blue cheese on my perfectly cooked ribeye. The crust on the key lime pie was almost as good as my own. A small selection of beer on tap, but what they have is good and not run of the mill.
(4)George R.

(3)Don F.

The Ostrich Burger is so lean & tasty! First time I ever had it & can't wait to try it again. Nice seating area outside to relax by a small pond.

(4)Mark D.
Nice restaurant with a great location, a stand alone, with no other restaurants or businesses near it. The French onion soup is good on a cold night. They have a variety of delicious hamburgers and their pork chops are outstanding!
(4)Cynthia K.
(5)Mike N.

(4)Adam B.
(4)Paul W.
(2)Patrick H.

(3)Calab N.
Service- decent service Food- I ordered a steak and a piece of fish with French fries and the steak was very juicy and flavorful. The fish was a good and the fries were a little over mediocre. Overall- will keep going back
(4)Rachael Z.
(3)Lorrie K.
Was very good! Bun could have been better just the standard commercial bun but the meat was really good. Got the top shelf burger and it was juicy. Had the coleslaw meh just standard, and their country house Irish red beer, very good.
(4)Dan N.
My wife had a a very good burger, the menu was fairly large and had some interesting things that well be back to try...especially in appetizers. .
(4)Kayla H.
The only Country House that has cook my burger right/the way I ordered it!! Most of the food here is very yummy!! My mom and step dad go to this location a lot. I had moved and the country house by us are jus ok. I real miss this location!

(3)Kari B.
(4)Ed J.
(5)Jackie J S.

(3)Jeff K.

(2)Virak H.
(1)Frank Z.

(4)Matt D.
Food is good, but it looks like the fish and chips have been shrinking in size over the last couple of months. Matt
(3)Nicole L.
Two stars.
(2)James H.
Great place. Always go in for the Ostrich Burger. Reasonable prices, good service and the food is always consistent. There are always daily specials, new items, and updates. Definitely a place to check out if you are in the area. A favorite when stopping in to watch some local minor league baseball down the road.
(4)V.i.o.l.e.t.t.a. D.
Why does this place only have 3 stars? I ordered a Gluten Free burger and it was awesome! I ate all of it which made me so full I could barely move, but I was fine with that! haha The outdoor patio is pretty and I can't wait to go back :] TIP: the potato salad is out of this world!
(5)Jonathan G.
The food and selection of beer is very good. The baked clam appetizer is awesome and the 59 cent oyster Tuesday is the best!
(4)Troy S.
Great home cooked food that you can tell was made with care. Lots of great comfort food.
(4)Stephanie W.
Was looking forward to eating here and my god...can they do anything right! We didn't get silver wear when our meals came out, our Arnold Palmer was just tea, orders were wrong and after sending back a burger twice for a hair being cooked in we were done with this place.
(1)Chris B.
-A slight bit pricey, but worth it
(4)Sandra E.
I use to love the burgers, but had one tonight and they have declined in quality. Forget the pretzel bun, it's awful and the sweet potato fries? barely edible. i don't plan on coming back here again
(2)Paul M.
(5)Jonathan P.
The Buffalo burger was cooked to perfection.. Had it with Swiss cheese and the potato salad for a side. Worth every penny. Atmosphere was great and as an avid traveler, enjoyed the staff and accommodations very much!
(5)Pat E.
(3)Carolina S.
(5)Shirley P.
(2)Jessica G.
(5)Chris T.
Always a great place for a meal. They have a lot of great specials. Service is usually pretty good.
(4)Kari F.
How does this place have a 3 star average?! My only complaint is an occasional lack of interest from a server. Other than that, the food is awesome and the ambiance is definitely unique. It has that rustic, country feel with all the wood. The bar area has awesome popcorn and peanuts you can throw on the floor. If it's nice outside, I highly recommend the outdoor patio, which has a very cool ambiance. I routinely get the turkey stack (comes on a pretzel roll...delish!). Their potato salad is the best I've ever had, which is saying a lot, and if I'm being healthy and opt for fruit, it's always fresh and in season. I've also had their burgers, which was fantastic and for Valentine's Day they served a lobster bisque that rivaled Texas de Brazil. My fiancée swears by the pork tenderloin and my boss never strays from her southwest chicken wrap. Seriously, you can't have a bad meal. Go there!

I wish I could rate my experience with Country House, but I unfortunately I was not able to step foot in the building because my fiancé has a serious peanut allergy. It was unfortunate that we had to find out that the Country House has peanut shells and dust throughout the establishment after we drove 25 minutes to try out the place. Nowhere on their website, that I can see immediately (even on the menu), does it say that peanuts may be a concern. With the availability of information at our finger tips on the internet and the awareness of allergies on the rise, I think it is crazy that we had to find out right before we were about to walk in the building. They did have a nicely displayed warning sign that was very helpful and appreciated. I am not criticizing the restaurants choice to have this environment (I totally understand why this is appealing) a little warning just would have been nice! We are always willing to adjust our plans for my fiancé's allergy, and never expect people to go above and beyond realistic expectations, but a memo on the website about the extreme peanut presence is highly recommended!
