Why did it take me so long to try this place out! My brother has been raving about how amazing the food is here. I kind of ignored him. I was dragged here after a farmers market a few weeks ago and immediately kicked myself for not getting here every chance I've had! Whenever possible order the daily special. It's always good (so I hear). I was there on a day when the French dip was the special and it was the best beef sandwich I've ever had! They have all kinds of chocolate treats and even serve beer and wine. The service was fast and friendly and the prices are crazy cheap given the quality! I will be back every chance I get now. I'm excited to try the breakfast out too!

I have eaten carry out from here twice. The first time was ok, but the second time was gross. My Caprese Panini was saturated with grease and the chips were soggy from the grease dripping on to them. Not worth what I paid.

If you like Lox in the morning, you'll love this place. My daughter and I come here when we can just for the salmon. It's her first suggestion if we're on the bike path in that area I've had other fantastic things from here (Panini, Buffalo Wrap), but once I tried the Lox, I can't order anything but..

Great place!!!!! I live in the city, and I have for over a decade. I have eaten at some of the greatest restaurants and can be pretty picky when it comes to good grub. I grew up near this little cafe and find myself here often when I'm back in town visiting my parents/siblings. I've been meaning to review; since I was here on Saturday celebrating Father's Day, I figured now is the time. My mom and sister got the special spinach flatbread, I got the smoked turkey, the bf got southwest steak wrap, bro in law and dad loved their meals too. (I forgot what they ordered), but they, along with everyone else were pleased beyond belief. They also were able to give a hotdog and fruit to my 3 year old niece, which she inhaled! They have great beers, too. The bf had a Weiss and my dad and I both enjoyed summer shandy! They were perfect sitting outside on the patio. The staff/owners are great, too. They checked in and were very sweet. We went back after our plates were cleaned for an assortment of cookies and scones. I'm sad I finished the last scone for breakfast today! All in all, I highly recommend this family owned cafe, and there's no doubt I'll be back!

OMG! for a small place excellent food. Sandwiches, salads, paninis, mac and cheese. I had the portobello mushroom and steak sandwich. Tender steak. Toasted bun. Really good. My wife had the Sante Fe salad. She loved the dressing. A bit spicy peanut sesame dressing. We wish to lived here just to make it easier come back.

White Street Cafe is a recent addition to Frankfort and a very welcome one. This cute little cozy spot completely redid the old butcher shop, it was hard to even recognize it. Tonight was my second visit; the first one was the second day it was open. I was very pleased tonight to see that they've got this down, it's a smooth operation. It was the perfect choice for a cold Friday night before the Frankfort housewalk. I had a grilled cheese panini that was just wonderful - all cheesy and buttery with sundried tomatoes. It was the perfect amount of cheese plus a variety of the melted goodness. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I also added a side of fruit salad and I gobbled up every morsel of it. Every piece was fresh and delicious. I have been so disappointed in so many sides of fruit before, mealy melon and non ripe hard pieces of who knows what. This was the complete opposite. If you go make sure you get your fruit on! I love having a casual dinner here but have to try their breakfast. My only suggestion is the table set up in the back area. The furniture is just a tad too big for the space. If a front table is occupied, you really can't get to the table behind it. The chairs are just heavy and awkward to move. Other than that, it's a great spot! But don't take my word for it come on down to Frankfort. White Street is open and ready for your business. And you'll get the fruit salad, yes?

I don't live nearby but I brought lunch to my sister's yesterday and wanted to find a local place. I absolutely love Downtown Frankfurt and White Street Cafe is wonderful! I have been here once before and I just love the setting, especially the outdoor patio. I ordered the tuna for my sister, the grilled veggie sandwich for me and chicken fingers for my 2 year old niece. Everything was delicious, my niece sat like a princess and ate each chicken tender without saying a word, just adorable! The chicken was all white meat and not a drop of grease. It came with fruit which she also ate. I picked up some cookies, oatmeal, chocolate chip and lemon, really yummy and clearly homemade. I also brought a chopped salad for my sister to eat later and she said that it fresh and delicious. I wish I lived here so I could eat here more often! This is worth a trip to Downtown Frankfort to eat here and shop at all of the amazing stores in this charming town.

Only positive to this location was the outside seating. Very charming location but food was over seasoned and bacon was overcooked. Food is ordered at counter and brought out to you and took awhile to come out. Thought would be fresh and not food that was precooked.

Very 'cute' place, great variety on the menu. I like the hybrid of a counterstyle and sitdown feel but you can refill your drinks. I had a Smoking Turkey panini, my friend had a chicken on a pretzel bun and her daughter had mac n' cheese - all were great. Some paninis are like rock from being overcooked, this was just crispy enough not to lose a tooth on. Hers looked insanely good, especially on pretzel bread. And the mac n' cheese wasn't the usual store-bought stuff out of a box. It was big and 'fluffy' noodles, fresh cheese. And the price was great. Highly recommended.

Had a chance to check this place out after doing some shopping in downtown Frankfort. We had our dog with us, and were able to bring her on their outdoor patio while we ate. They even filled up a drinking bowl of water for her. My husband and I each got paninis with chips. Delicious! Cute little cafe with friendly staff. Can't wait to return.

Some of my inlaws recently relocated to Frankfort, IL. My MIL was in for a visit and we decided to do takeout. None of us know the area yet. Yelp to the rescue! I saw that the High Exalted Mistress of Yelp, Candice G., gave White Street Cafe five stars and that was good enough for me! My MIL orderd the grilled cheese panini and was delighted. My BIL ordered the club which was beautiful to behold and reported to be delicious. I ordered the Caprese panini and it was just about perfect... the oven-roasted tomatoes were sweet, the mozzarella fresh & melty, the arugula was spicy, the italian bread was perfectly toasted, and the delicious basil pesto brought it all together. I will be craving that sandwich! My husband was not delighted with the muffaletta. He said it was good, but he's had better locally *cough* Two Brothers Tap House *cough*. The chips were good. Made in house? We'll definitely want to do White Street Cafe again.

I had the Breakfast Burrito today. It was very good and loaded with ingredients. Coffee station is self serve. If you like to be waited on, this place is not for you. You place you order at the front, receive a number, and your meal is brought to your table.

I first found White Street Cafe after reading Clifford's rave review here on Yelp. I then sent Cliff a compliment about how I wanted to go to said cafe. Then I left Cliff in the dust and made plans to eat here with his lovely wife... like some sort of sneaky Bond villain with no respect for the sanctity of marriage. Move over, Bill Bellamy... there's a new player in town. All jokes aside, I totally did have a lunch date here with Cliff's aforementioned lovely wife, but it was as friends, of course, because that's what we are... not that I'd have a snowball's chance anyway, but that's beside the point. And Cliff did stop by to say hello, though couldn't stay long because he's a busy man with lots of business to take care of. Duh. Without Cliff there, we were basically bonafide ladies who lunch and that made me feel fancy. So fancy, in fact, that I decided to ride that fancified wave all the way to the counter and place myself an order for what turned out to be a Connecticut-sized caprese panini. When said panini arrived, my sense of fancy was immediately traded for a sense of hungry... or whatever the right form of that word would be in this case. Like I said, it was HUGE. Almost literally as large as one of this great country's tiniest states. Flavor-wise this baby had it all. Perfect pesto, mounds of mozzarella, masterfully roasted tomatoes... I couldn't have asked for more... except maybe a bag of chips... which the sandwich did come with. So there you have it. Officially official that I couldn't have asked for more when it came to this sammy. The interior is casual and rather simple, but perfect for a cafe day working with my laptop and dining with my dear friend and the staff are friendly and patient and seem to put a lot of work and pride into their specials, which today included a supposedly delicious patty melt (based on the comment from the couple sitting next to me) and a Greek quinoa salad, among other items. I saw after I returned from the restroom (which is a shared bathroom in the building located near the children's museum) I saw a sign on the door that they have 1/2 price wine and beer on Thursday evenings... and their beer selection had some decent stuff on there, including Angry Orchard's hard cider. I half debated staying through to the booze special time, but then remembered that I'm nearly 30 and I have a job and I can't just spend all my days lounging around cafes for hours on end waiting for that day's drink special... plus, I had to get home to feed my cats. Long story short, White Street Cafe is just lovely, as is Cliff's wife who I hope to lunch with again.

Had a wonderful lunch today. The steak salad was awesome. We truly enjoyed sitting outside on such a beautiful day. We will be back.

For me, White Street Cafe is a better version of Panera. The staff is friendlier, the ambiance much nicer and the food homemade. I have been here twice and the first time was the second night they were open. I figured I would give it a second try and while the food was very good the first time, the overall experience was better the second time. I recently went there and had chili and egg salad, both were outstanding. The service was attentive and courteous with just the right touch of home town friendliness. If you are in Frankfort I highly recommend you come here for lunch. I hear their breakfasts are also good but I haven't tried them. Yet. See you there?

I am lucky to have found this place. I have read some reviews that in my opinion do not represent this family owned business. Imagine catering to the masses. White Street Cafe has always surprised me with unique specials. This is a great place for Breakfast and lunch. I love soups and they do soup like none other. Very few places require a second visit but White Street Cafe should definitely get another shot. This is good food and good people. For the record, I don't know the owners and have no benefit from giving them a good review other than hoping they stay in business so I can experience more of their great food. Highly recommend everyone to eat at this unique Cafe!

Our family stopped in while waiting for my wifes bike to get ready at the Plank Road Bike shop. I started with the mushroom bisque and it was very good. I had the steak wrap with no cheese. Very good as well but it was missing something. I washed that down with a crisp Chardonnay that one of the owners recommended. Wife had the spinach salad and a mimosa. Both of our twins had chicken strips with fries. Very friendly service. The place was busy and they had the White Sox game on. Very clean and it was a nice surprise that they sold wine and bottled beer. We are already planning a bike ride to get breakfast or lunch here.

We went for lunch at a time that they seemed to be getting slammed so it took a little while to get everything ordered and situated. The staff worked very hard to make sure we were taken care of and the food was very good.

This is my favorite restaurant in Frankfort. its a great spot to grab a sandwich and a cold brew with a pal. they also accommodate for gluten free kids like myself which is just amazing. my favorite sandwich is the portobello mushroom and steak sandwich, it wont disappoint!

It is with great sadness that I have to review my experience with only one star. I sat on this review for a week before posting, only because I am a proud supporter of local family owned businesses and I wanted to make sure I wrote this right. I hope it was just an off day for them and also I hope this review doesn't deter you from trying this place out even though I won't be back. It's a breakfast/lunch cafe. Although, the day I went, they were not serving breakfast. I was there to try their breakfast but change of plans, lunch it is. Chicken Caesar salad was the final consensus. Part way through the meal, noticed mold on all the cheese in two separate salads. We were offered a sincere apology and a refund along with new salads. Did not take the new salad offer as stomach was nauseous and unwilling. Insert sad face here. Time for me to un-bookmark this place and move on.

Great little hidden gem in downtown Frankfort. They have excellent salads and wraps. My kids love the mac and cheese.

I have been here twice now and both times had good food in a cute cafe atmosphere. The guy up front (owners son) is so friendly and always makes sure there's no pepper on my food since I have an allergy. The fresh baked cookies are so good and the homemade Mac and cheese with a creamy white cheddar. They also have outdoor seating which is nice for the summer!

Recently had breakfast here with several other people and found the food to be very good and the prices were also good. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Nice little place that is somewhat hidden, so you need to look for it. I do have a pet peeve when it comes to businesses in which White Street Cafe failed. When I make a purchase from a business, I expect to be told thank you. In this case, the person that took our order simply handed me my change. I even said thank you to him and he did not respond. This is way too common among businesses today. For you business owners out there, remember to thank your customers.

This charming little place has it all. The atmosphere is cute and homey, the food is fabulous and the prices are excellent. Decided to try White Street Cafe after seeing the reviews online. And the 5 star reviews were spot on. We tried the smoked salmon bagel and the breakfast panini. Are simple dishes, but executed so well. Slurged on a mimosa that was made with the right amount of champagne and orange juice. White Street Cafe is a wonderful addition to Frankfort, il and the surrounding area. Love to support local businesses. Will be adding White Street Cafe to our regular places to eat!

I love this place! It has great service and is clean. It's a perfect place to order a sandwich or salad. Casual spot... Order at the counter and then they bring it out to you. Everything I have ordered I have loved. To name a few: the grilled veggie panini, chop salad, Asian wrap( on special)... Their chicken salad looks yummy also, and all their breakfast sandwiches are delicious too! All very fresh!

What a gem this place is! It's quaint, nicely put together, the food is awesome and the variety should satisfy anyone. I have to eat Gluten free (Celiac Disease) and this place has the most gluten free options I have ever seen in any restaurant. Family of the owners need gluten free diet, and they have done this right. My wife, (can eat gluten) had a BLT sandwich on whole wheat, and she really liked it. I tried the Italian sausage with kale soup (one of three that day) with a small gorgonzola/cranberry salad, and was delighted. I took home a quart of the soup, it was soooo good. It was just spicy enough to please the palate, and had chunks of potato and the broth was very very excellent. The majority of their menu can be gluten free. This includes breakfast and lunch...Its casual and locals keep on coming back for good reason. The owners know many of the clientele by name and its easy to see why. This is quite a find for this quaint town of Frankfort. Its worth going out of your way to try it, you won't be disappointed.

I agree with another reviewer. Better than Panara. My wife had the Vegetable Panini with Sweet Potato Fries and I had the Turkey Club Wrap. Both delicious. Cost was around $24, not cheap, but all ingredients were fresh....and the taste was great. We'll be back. Lastly, the employees/owners were very friendly.

I have been here two times for lunch and it is a GREAT spot. There are a few good restaurants in downtown Frankfort, but nothing that you would call "light", until NOW! Excellent fresh ingredients and great daily specials and homemade soups. Each time I had a salad and the ingredients were outstanding, no iceberg lettuce here! Also some nice health conscious choices like quinoa. Will definitely be back! Will be very nice in the spring/summer!

I love going to the cafe. The taste of their food is always excellent! So far went there for lunch, dinner and after a bike ride on the trail for drinks and carryout. I personally never had a more tasteful steak sandwich. My wife loves their salads.

Cute little cafe nestled in the red barn in old downtown Frankfort. Our party enjoyed a turkey club wrap, caprese panini and chicken tenders kids meal. All were very freshly prepared, especially the fruit salad that came with the tenders. Friendly staff and comfortable seating. Coffee bar looks inviting as well.

Went there last night for their Fish Tacos special and they were excellent ! The fish was cooked perfect and it was topped with a tasty mango salsa. The side served with it was fried plantains which were a welcome change from the normal side dishes you get at most places. That along with an ice cold Sam Adams made for a great dinner.

Great service and food. It's funny in all the time I have ridden Old Plank Trail I have just found this gem. They even have breakfast. Staff very friendly which was a big improvement over the service I received at Old Plank Cyclery today. I will be stopping in again next time I ride the trail. Thank you!!!!!!!!!

Nice to have a good place to eat in downtown Frankfort. The food was excellent. I had the chicken sandwich. The flavor was perfect, just wish I had a little more chicken on the sandwich. Wife had the steak salad. Again great steak, just not enough. I would next time just order a side or soup with the sandwich.

I stopped by after seeing a review on yelp and wanted something in downtown Frankfort. The cafe is cute and very clean. They had a pretty good menu of salads, sandwiches and paninis. They also had a good kids menu, my kids ordered the chicken fingers and the homemade Mac & Cheese and I had a bowl if the soup and a sandwich. All were reasonably priced and came out quickly. The food was good as was the service. I'm glad to have another place to eat in Frankfort.

Outstanding, well prepared food at reasonable prices. Menu is great and family friendly (i.e. great choices for kids). Their gluten-free menu is the best I have seen. Wonderful location in downtown Frankfort, IL close to shopping and beautiful Old Plank Trail. We have been there twice since opening. My wife has had the caprese panini and grilled chicken sandwich and really enjoyed both. My kids have had the chicken nuggets (they swear they are the best they have had) and the mac 'n cheese which looked really good. I enjoyed their veggie sandwich off of their gluten-free menu and I will have to say I have never had one better. Service is very courteous and they are very attentive to their customers. I highly recommend this restaurant. Come to downtown Frankfort, do some shopping, hang out at the park, go for a walk on the trail and grab a great meal at the White Street Cafe!

Another really solid meal for my wife and I at the White Street Cafe. We both ordered the soup of the day. I ordered the Chicken Noodle for $3.95 that was loaded with thick noodles and loads of chicken pieces and veggies. It was not watery and tasted very delicious. My wife ordered the Loaded Bake potato soup for $3.95 that was a bit on the watery side but had lots of ingredients and tasted great. My wife ordered a Ham and Cheese scone for $2.95 that was really fresh and good. They did not skimp on the ingredients. I ordered the Cuban Panini for $9.95, now yes it was not the true Cuban sandwich, but the ham, pork, mayo, mustard and pickle were still really good. My sandwich came with fresh chips too. Finally we both ordered a Sparkling Ice Water for $1.49 each. The service was friendly and much faster this time. The place is clean and my wife and I highly recommend the White Street Cafe the next time you are looking for a good meal.
