The food is delicious! This is the best Rising Sun out of all the locations - specifically for the food, not so much for the ambiance. The prices are reasonable. I love the beef with peapods & water chestnuts, chicken with garlic sauce, egg rolls & crab rangoon.

This is TAKE OUT only location. The dine in restaurant is upbthe road in Mokena. The best Chinese food in the area. Fast service, never had to wait more then there estimated time.

Excellent service as my non-profit group uses the private back room. The portions are generous and the service is quick. The food quality is above average for chinese food.

I have had chinese from all different areas. Of all the chinese places, this is definitely my absolute favorite! Even my sister who lives in Midlothian, makes the drive to pick up dinner when she and her husband want chinese. I have been getting Rising Sun ever since I was a little kid. I don't think I have ever been disappointed a single time. They always deliver in a reasonable amount of time. Honestly I would wait 2 hours for delivery, it's that good.

Rising Sun is always good and the quality is always consistent. It is my favorite Chinese food in Frankfort. We usually get the egg rolls, beef lo mien, orange chicken and the combo fried rice. Delicious! Occasionally we get the beef skewer appetizers which are also great. I know. This sounds like a ton of food and you are right. It is enough to feed an army. Don't forget your SIAM card for a discount or print the coupons on their website.

The orange chicken was salty, the chicken fried rice was okay. I wouldn't recommend it. They put huge slices of oranges under the orange chicken to make it seem like it was a lot of food. And it didn't taste nearly close to orange. It was weak! Oh, and they don't give a receipt breakdown, just an amount. Never again

Since I now work in the area, every week my boyfriend and I go out to lunch somewhere different. Well we try to go to somewhere different every week. I actually had Chinese here the day of my job interview. I really liked the food and the decor of the place. The service was good but the place was kind of empty. I would like to go back here soon and try something different. I believe I had my sesame chicken (pretty much my favorite dish) and my boyfriend had broccoli beef or something like that. We both had leftovers to bring with us and the price was under $30 for dining in. Not the cheapest place but also not a crappy quality of food and service. You can get cheaper chinese but it won't be as good. Will update soon after I go back!

Yes, it is not decorated well. Yes it is the best chinese food I have ever eaten. No it is not more expensive than any other. Each dish has a unique flavor. The Pork/Shrimp egg rolls are amazing, they have a slightly cinnamon-y coriander-y aroma and a deeply porky flavor. I highly suggest the tangerine chicken or beef...NOT ORANGE CHICKEN..TANGERINE CHICKEN...also the kung pau is the best I have ever eaten. The sauce is a deep mahogany sweet/spicy flavor that will just make you swoon. (it has a dominant kecap manis flavor so expect some cane sugar sweetness). My wife gets the general tso's and it is delightfully different than the pedestrian sickly sweet versions I am used to refusing. On Friday and Sat I think, they serve a soup you gotta try. They call it beef veggie, but it is a beefy, red cabbage, sweet/salty concoction that has me scraping up every drop.I tend to time my visits with this soup. I often prefer to eat sit down in their Mokena locations because the staff have been there for at least twenty years. One of the asian waitresses would win a stare down contest with the statue in the lobby. She is not rude, just has the exact same look on her face when I tip 3.50 as when I tip twenty bucks. I love to say bizarre non-sequitur words in front of her and watch her simply wait for me to give her my order.Me : "frog fajitas!!....ahem, I will have the kung pau please". She completely straight faced: "Beef or chicken?" Bonus for this place being willing to give me food five minutes after closing. Oh yeah, the portions really are huge. I kid you not that as a fat man, I could really be satisfied with a cup of soup and an egg roll.

Dirtiest fish tank I have ever seen. Not the friendliest service in town. Your in the USA. Learn to speak the language. I think this is some of the best chinese food in our area. Reasonably priced.

This place is very nice inside and out. The service was good, and everything arrived in a timely fashion. Some warning would have been nice about the drinks being from a can. I can drink coke from a fountain all day, but not from a can/bottle. Theres just something very different about the product that way. I only get the General Tso chicken from chinese places, and this was one of the worst. The sauce was an odd red one that I have actually experienced at a few different places over the years. The weird taste just kind of ruins the whole meal. It isn't the good golden colored sauce that you would expect. I was really wanting to like this place because it's one of the few dine-in chinese places I can think of.

Best Chinese food in the area, hands down! Their egg rolls are AMAZING! Do yourself a favor and don't even try to order Chinese takeout from anywhere else.

My favorite Chinese take out place! I try other places and keep coming back to Rising Sun in Frankfort or New Lenox. My favs are... Beef and Broccoli, General Tso (sauce on the side), Egg Foo Young, House Fried Rice and Egg Rolls.

I am in the south west Chicago area and wanted some Chinese. Well, I saw all the good comments about the Rising Sun. Its a hole in wall place to be sure. Had to really hunt for it because it was dark and snowing. After a 30 minute drive and hunt, I found it next to the Chevy dealership. Its a busy intersection so if you read my review and still want to go there....be patient! When you walk in the place, the you rest assured that they didn't splurge on decor....quite the opposite. They probably went to the city dump and found some siding that they used for their walls. The employees look like something out of a movie. The were rattling back and forth in Korean and all the cooks were dressed white shirts and aprons. They were constantly moving and cooking. Which is odd because I was the only one in the place but I was guessing they were cooking call in orders. I read some reviews on both google earth and yelp that mentioned how much cleaner this place was in comparison to another of their locations. After seeing this place, I have to think how bad must that other place been because I never would have thought clean was an adjective that I have thrown out there so freely when describing this place. I got the Mongolian beef (mild) and some crab Rangoon. The drive back to my hotel room was a little quicker, and when I got back the room, I discovered that this place doesn't give you any plastic to eat with, no plates, and no chop sticks. The food was really hot, and the beef container was good. It has a really sweet flavor but not that many onions. The rice (white) that came with it was cold and old! More old than cold by the way. The crab rangoons had a real odd smell to it. They are really big and they give you a tub of sweet and sour sauce that is really hot but cools quickly into this pudding like Overall, for take out purposes, it was a little too much money and not the stunning quality that I have read here on Yelp. Your experiences might be better. And to close, I opened my fortune cookie and it read, "Something strange is about to happen to you". I just hope it isn't sitting on the white throne in the bathroom.

The food is decent enough. We tend to stick to the less adventerous dishes when we eat Chinese. (Beef and Broccoli and General Tso) pretty straight forward typical chinese take out with a twist. Undoubtedly the most expensive chinese food in the area. I can't give line by line comparisons but our order total here was much higher than other places in the area. Bottom line the food is not much better or worse than others in the area but comes with a slightly higher price for most items.

Wife and I used to live in Orland Park. I would drive down to the Rising Sun because the Chinese food here is far superior to anything in Orland. Egg rolls are great and Mongolian Beef is fantastic. The Crab Rangoon are also very good. Their prices have really gone up over the past 7 years so I give this place 4 stars instead of 5 based strictly on value. Most of rest of the Chinese around the area is kind of horrible so if you want some decent food give it a try.

Skip the drive to PF Changs and come here for some real Chinese food. I dined in tonight at the LaGrange location and it was the best Chinese food I have had in years. I recommend trying the beef chop suey, mongolian beef, hot & sour soup, & the pan fried noodles.

First time ordering from here. It is the typical Chinese carry-out place. I ordered Kung Po Chicken. It wasn't bad in that it has decent flavor. But the mushrooms are canned mushrooms, the veggies are boring and the chicken is bland. I guess I am thankful the sauce is flavorful. I got the lunch portion which was large for me. I got an egg roll and I must say it was a Good Day for the Egg Rolls! I will go back based on the Egg Rolls being good!

In the "Carry Out" Chinese category, I have not found a better Chinese restaurant in the SW Chicago Suburbs. This place is a whole in the wall "dump" with virtually no seating. I recommend you carry out. The food is always delicious, fast, hot, and consistant. I have been going to this location for years. Recomendations: Kung Pao Beef, Crab Rangoon (treat yourself, they're great) & Hot and Sour Soup. Love it!!! They have another location in Mokena, IL which is also great. They have a full serve restaurant as well as a carry-out window. (19215 LA GRANGE RD)

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
