Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

My parents enjoy coming here. I never pass up an opportunity for half price margaritas. I believe they have the deal a few days a week. I only know of Sunday for sure though. I had a lime margarita on the rocks and it was really good. The food for me is just ok. The vegetarian options are pretty bland (unlike mama Maria in orland). Basic items like steak tacos and fajitas are all good. I enjoyed the rice and beans too. It's a perfect restaurant if you're nearby and don't want to travel far. It's very clean and the staff is friendly. You can usually get in and out in a hurry if need be.

food is ok, it was 95 degrees out and humid and they had the door open. THink they wanted it to feel like Mexico. Service, well they do take your order and that is about it.

Went here on a whim. Saw that it had three stars and decided to try it anyway. Restaurant was not busy, quiet, took forever to get food and all in all my experience was just OK. Honestly, I love Mexican food and have eaten at a lot of places between Mexico, San Antonio TX, and Chicago area both the north side and South. In my honest opinion, the food was bland, lacking flavor and could have used far more creama than they supplied. The creama they give you is more for decoration/garnish on the plate! I would've asked for more creama but the waiter never came back after dropping off our food, forgot our salsa then about 10 minutes into eating he finally brought us the $3.99 guacamole that was also bland and in the tiniest of bowls. We probably won't return.

Have been sick for the past 12 hours after eating a burrito at lunch time. I've been told many times to not eat there. I guess I learned my lesson. Could be why there is no one there ever. I will obviously not be back and warn others to stay away.

I have not been too impressed. Food bland and nothing special. We had delivery once and found the tip of a latex glove in my burrito. I get it, things happen, and they apologized. But how do you not notice the tip of a glove missing from your hand?

The food here is great, but unfortunately the service is horrible! When my family and I ate here, it was a Sunday night and apparently they were "busy" (there were a lot of empty tables). The waitress right away showed she was feeling flustered that she forgot to bring plates and utensils to our table for our appetizers. She got my margarita order wrong three times. Then was slow on checking up on us. Since we sat outside, we had to go in a few times to ask for certain things.... It was really unsatisfactory nonetheless! She didn't even give us a courtesy warning to say that the kitchen closes at 8:45pm and she couldn't take any more orders so we couldn't order any more desert or beverages. This was ridiculous because had she checked on our table when we were waving at her or trying to get help but no one responded, we would've been able to order prior to kitchen closing... When we told her our concern, she apologized and said that she was very busy and there's only 2 waitresses. Ok well that's understandable and we let a lot of things slide. But when she handed us the bill she charged us for the wrong appetizer so it was incorrect and we should've been charged for a different one that costs less so we asked to speak with the manager to express our concern. The manager herself was argumentative and defensive... Didn't at all demonstrate customer service care and instead claimed that she was "watching me the whole time and I was on the phone...and maybe I wasn't paying attention".. Those were her exact words!!! I said that I was certainly not on my phone when I was ordering and that I perfectly knew what I ordered! She continued to defend the waitress and said that our table kept changing orders and ordering new things every single time the waitress came to our table so that it "took time away from other customers". I can't believe some of the words that came out of her mouth. She insisted she wasn't going to give us a discount or change the receipt but we kept saying that's not even our intentions. We just wanted to express our concern of the service and understand what could've been handled better for the future. But I guess they just didn't want to listen. To top it off, another waitress felt she had to add her two cents in and kept butting in with negative comments which totally didn't help the situation. They also defended themselves by saying "no other table complained tonight". So that's how the conversation ended and manager saying "I'm sorry you were all not satisfied with the service." I guess we were expecting them more to be genuine, sincere, and caring in their approach and tending to the customers' concern of service: we didn't get that. I wouldn't go to this location again for the bad experience we had twice. Another time they completely forgot to include an order we had for take out and by the time we found out when we got home, they were already close. The food is very good but it doesn't help the service to be awful! Management should change their customer service handling and be more attuned to their guests rather than supporting their bad waitressing here. It seems like other people here have the same perception on their management and service.

Change the signs on your door. If your Frankfort location is open mon-Sunday 10am-10pm on the door, why does your kitchen close at 8:40pm?!? Maybe just lazy staff, needless to say won't be going to frankfort or countryside anymore.

It snowed a bit tonight and I was forced to drive home at 8 miles per hour. After my 2.5 hour commute, regularly 27 minutes, I couldn't wait for tacos and beer. Luckily my parents secured a table and there was already chips and salsa on the table. The salsa verde was outstanding. Good tangy flavor and not too spicy. The red salsa was good too but, as I told you before I am a spice wimp and this one set my tongue on fire a bit. For dinner I had one fish taco, one steak taco and rice and beans. The fish taco had this super tasty cabbage on it that was drenched in lime. Loved it. It went well with the grilled fish and wasn't over powering. The fish could have used a little salt and pepper but overall pretty good. The steak taco was ok and the rice and beans were solid. The wait staff was friendly and checked on us multiple times. I'm glad we got to try it. They have only been open a few days so I am sure they will keep improving as time goes on.

Thought I could grab a quick bite here for lunch....that didn't happen. But what did happen was that I found my new favorite taco place. I sat down and on a Saturday afternoon there were only a few other tables that were being used. The server was a little slow but did the job and was pleasant. There were some good lunch specials that I was having difficulty deciding on. In the end I just got three tacos. I got a grilled chicken, a steak and a pork. I couldn't tell you which I liked better because I had entered another level of consciousness. It was amazing. I haven't felt this way about a taco in years. It was a moment that I was glad to share with myself without the distraction of someone trying to talk to me. The kitchen was a little slow, but the salsas they put on the table were pretty awesome. The pricing was moderate, it's not the cheapest taco you ever had but it certainly won't break anybody's bank. The restaurant is located at the end of a small strip mall in the outlot of what used to be a grocery store. You'll see it from the road and you'll thank me once you've eaten.

I am sorry to say that I would never go back to this place again. The service was very bad and slow. The food is just average.

This is by far the best place we have ever eaten at!! The food is great, the staff is great and the owner seems like he really knows how to run a business!!

Everything tastes like it is canned, frozen, or from a box. Even the tomatoes looked like they came in frozen. They have such a nice location. Wish they would introduce a fresher menu. Anyone who rates this place over 3 probably should get your taste buds checked.

I've been here two Friday nights in a row and I can tell the word is out that there is a new place for Mexican food in town, olé! The staff here is terrific; their experience at their other two locations sure shows. It didn't seem last this was a brand new restaurant last week even though there were only about 4 tables filled. This Friday, every table was taken, yay for Fajitas. I tried steak, carnitas and pastor tacos because why have one kind of taco when you can have three, all the fun times tres! My favorite were the carnitas and the pastor but they were a bit dry so I would suggest salsa or a side of sour cream. The mild salsa here is probably the best mild salsa I have ever had anywhere because it isn't just a toned down heat, it is a delicious flavor concoction all to itself. We also split a fried ice cream and a chocolate cake that were pretty standard fare, nothing too exciting. My coffee also came very late and they could tell we were over enthused about the cake so they took it and the coffee off the bill, wow, amazingly good customer service. Will I be back for a third visit? ¡SÃ!

I have eaten Fajitas food twice now and I wish them well. Here in Frankfort we are lucky to have a number of good Mexican restaurants close by. We have our choice of two take out and two sit down restaurants. This restaurant would probably be my second choice for food and first choice for ambiance and seating choices. Their food is fresh and authentic and the service magnificent. I have had the shrimp fajitas twice and enjoyed them both times. Next time I come, I will try something different and let you know how I like that.

Got a bistec el Mexicana lunch. Beans were flavorless, rice was straight out of a box, and the steak was tough. The waitress played on her phone the whole meal. The only thing that was generous was the 1/3 of a plate wad of sour cream that came with my sons kids meal. Will not return again.

Our family just ate here and it was really good. It was also half price margarita night. They were good and strong. I had eaten here before and I thought the food wasnt that good. The place was packed and the service was really good. I wasnt sure what to expect so I ordered the steak burrito dinner. It was very good. Great chunks of steak. There house made salsa was really good too. When we were leaving, our server asked if we had been here before? I told her a while back and that I didnt like it that much. She told me they had a new cook. The new cook was clicking on all cylinders cuz everyong like the food. I will go back.

The margaritas were great, although a bit pricey. I'll definitely only come back on the 1/2 price day if i'm going to get a margarita. I ordered a specialty burrito.. milanesa.. and the meat came out very bad. It was too thick and very fatty/grizzly. Milanesa is supposed to be pounded very thin. Other than this, it was a good experience. The salsas to start off were pretty good, too.

We were in a hurry, so we got a couple of steak burritos. My soda had sand in the bottom of it by the time someone noticed it was empty. So I had to ask for a refill by an innocent by standard. The chips were flying by at a regular interval and they were quite good. When out burro arrived it was nice and hot. The shell was crispy and the steak was full of juice and flavorful. The place started to fill up as it was a Friday night and the people waiting at the door seemed to be getting angry even though they just got there? The décor is very pleasant and there are lots of windows for your viewing pleasure. About the only thing they need to do is pick it up with the service.

Really bad service and only marginal food. It's too bad since we could really use a decent Mexican restaurant in the area. We went on a busy Friday night and everyone on staff seemed overwhelmed. When the waitress (who went missing most of the evening) brought our orders she got 2 of the 4 meals wrong and was put out when we asked for the correct items that we ordered. Might try take out again but not dine in.

Recently opened and nice looking place not to crowded when we arrived but filled up fast. I just wanted a burrito and after having one for lunch earlier my expectations were high. I was not disappointed it was very good the steak had a lot of flavor and was just good. I munched on the chips and salsa and they were good, fresh and warm. The red salsa was good, the green was not sure how to describe, funny taste. But I got what I wanted and was happy.

Been there twice for lunch with my wife and both times we ordered the same things: lunch fajitas and a steak burrito. The service was slow and inattentive but I think it's more of the kitchen being incredibly slow. They don't make their own tortilla chips which I thought was a staple of any decent Mexican restaurant. Salsas are good but the taste of the fajitas was just okay and my burrito was all tortilla with very little filling. If you're in the area I would just as soon spend my money at Buenas Nachos right off of LaGrange and Rte 30 or at 3 Burritos on 80th and 183rd. Won't be going back again.

Where do I begin?? My husband, daughter, and I went to Fajitas on a Friday night. We had never been there before so we decided to try it over other mexican restaurants in the area. We arrived and there was a wait, but we were seated quickly. Things went downhill from there. My husband ordered a beer and I ordered a margarita. The drinks took a long time because the waitress was not 21 and she had to get someone else to get the drinks. During this wait, we did not have silverware, napkins, or water. We were given chips, but the salsa came about 5 minutes later. Then we placed our order. It was not complicated. We ordered nachos as an appetizer, a 2 taco dinner with a side of guacamole, a 3 taco dinner with 2 steak tacos and 1 chicken taco, and a kids mozzarella sticks. Then we waited and waited for our nachos. I had to get the manager to change my daughter's coke because the syrup needed to be changed and they gave her carbonated water. Finally the waitress came up to us and said that our dinner was almost ready. I asked her if we were going to get our nachos and she lied and said that the nachos come out with the dinner because it was printed on the same receipt with the dinners when it went back to the kitchen. What???? So basically she forgot to put in the nachos. Awhile later, the food came out with the nachos. The nachos were steaming hot while the dinners were cold. This tells me that the dinners sat while they had to make nachos that were forgotten. My husband got 3 steak tacos instead of one chicken, I never got a side of guacamole, and my daughter never got a side of marinara sauce with her mozzarella sticks. At this point I did not say anything to the waitress because I was afraid of how long it would take to remedy the situation. The food itself was decent. The nachos had a lot of refried beans on it and not enough cheese. The steak in the tacos was well seasoned, but it is hard to judge food that is cold. The waitress asked my husband if he wanted another beer and he said yes. The beer never came. Eventually we asked the hostess for containers and the bill so that we could go when the waitress did not come back to our table for a long time. The worst part of the whole situation was the management. They were completely aware that this waitress was having a difficult time and they did not support her so that customers received adequate service. She should have never been serving on a Friday night. It was obvious that she needed more training. They also never offered a discount when they knew that experience was bad. I guess they don't care about customers returning. Finally, at the end when I went up to pay my bill, I gave the hostess some coupons. My total bill was $49.81. One coupon was for $5 off a purchase of $25 or more and the other was $10 off a purchase of $50 or more. The hostess only took off $5. I could not believe that she did not use the $10 off coupon when my bill was only 19 cents away from $50 especially since she knew the experience we just had. The management of this restaurant really needs to readjust their customer service attitude. I have not had an experience like this in a very long time and we will not be going back.

Ordered carry out.....what a pain in the neck. The person who answered the phone just was not paying attention, made a mess out of the order. Part of the order was a chili relleno, Yuck! The peppers were under cooked and they didn't take the seeds out. All in all just not good. Won't go back again. Had a bad service experience at the Tinley Park location.... 2 problems too many.

I have been here a handful of times only ever for lunch. The fajitas are excellent as is their tacos pastor. The chips they give you with your meal are some of the most different tasting chips I have ever had. I love the roasted tasting salsa. The green one I tend to have a love hate relationship with. I still don't know if I like it, that does not mean that I don't try it every time because I definitely do. The service is ok they are a little on the slow side and once they ran out of horchata and my next choice of soda. Other than that I say give them a try as overall they are a nice sit down mexican restaurant in Frankfort.

Basic. Still love LA Cafe in New Lenox for the real thing.

I Had waited and the door for the cashier to finished with a customer. that took 5 miniutes, then instead of apologizing she said to wait a few more miniutes. This was just to sit down!!! i wish i could review the food, but the host never sat us down. While we were leaving i made sure to tell the other couple walking in to make sure they are ready to wait over 10 miniutes just to be recongnized. This all happened while the rest of the staff just looked at us standing there impactiently. All they had to do was show us to a seat. This place will be gone in a few months. Also.. oh nevermind why bother!

Finally tried Fajitas last night. We arrived at 7pm on a Saturday night and although the restaurant was pretty full, we were able to get a table right away. We were brought chips and salsa right away; there was a green (milder) salsa and a red (hotter) one. Both had a nice taste. I liked the green because it was different, not something you usually get at most Mexican places. The chips were just so-so. I'm not sure, but my best guess is that they aren't freshly made. It seemed like they were bagged chips that had just been warmed, not cut from tortillas and fried at the restaurant. We also ordered guacamole to go with the chips. It was pretty good. One huge drawback - they were out of horchata. What self-respecting Mexican restaurant runs out of horchata?? For my main entree I had the steak taco dinner. There was plenty of steak on them and it was very tender. Great texture, but not really any flavor at all. The rice and beans were standard, nothing to write home about. My husband had the chicken chimichangas and he said they were ok but also pretty bland. We both said the same thing about Fajitas...it is OK, not the best Mexican food we've had but not the worst. There are a lot of places in the south suburbs you can get better Mexican food much cheaper, but if you're in the area and you have a good coupon for Fajitas, it isn't bad.

It's time for my youngest daughter to pick her birthday restaurant dinner location. She asks if the new restaurant Fajitas is open yet in Frankfort. I tell her yes and she says well I pick Fajitas. Which is good because good, old Dad also happens to have some coupons for Fajitas. Well we arrive around 6:00 pm or so on a Saturday night. The restaurant is packed, I mean completely full with customers waiting for seats. Hopefully this is a good sign for some really good food and service. Well we get seated after only waiting for five minutes or so. Not bad really considering when we walked in there was no open tables. The five of us are packed into a four seater booth. Oh well the skinny people on one side and someone join me on the other side. We start off with chips and salsa. We go through three baskets of varying chips. Some tasted fresh and salty and others tasted truly stale. The two salsas, one was red and a little bit spicy and the other was green and very bland. Our waitress, a very nice woman was trying her best but was hopping from table to table trying to serve customers. She finally stopped over and took our order. My wife ordered the Tostada Dinner which came with two tostadas and yellow rice. Maria mentioned that she is allergic to beans, so she can not have any beans. Well when her plate showed up there were beans. So we had to ask the waitress to replace the plate. Which she did and actually quite quickly too. Maria liked her tostadas and her yellow rice. She said usually the yellow rice has that tomato sauce and this one did not so she thought it was better. It also had veggies in it which Maria did enjoy a lot too. My youngest son ordered the Nachos Supreme from the appetizer page. They were huge and he enjoyed them. He said he has had better but they were good. The birthday girl ordered the Burrito Dinner, which was one HUGE burrito with yellow rice. My youngest daughter liked her burrito, she did say that Burrito Loco or Los Cabos were better though. My youngest daughter use to LOVE Los Cabos, which is now closed and actually use to be located right where Fajitas is at now. She did not like her yellow rice though. She is not a big veggie person. Well my oldest son ordered the Carne Asada, Skirt Steak which came with yellow rice and beans. I was thinking of ordering that myself but did not. My oldest son's steak was truly outstanding, probably the best item of the night. Finally my turn to order. I was looking for a combination type plate but there was nothing on the menu. So I decided to create my own combination plate, the Jerry W special. I ordered a Steak Taco, Steak Tostada, Pork Tamale, Steak Burrito and a Steak Enchilada. I know you are thinking Jerry sure can eat. Well I actually didn't have anything all day and was pretty hungry. Everything was pretty good. Nothing was truly great just pretty good average Mexican fare. Oh I almost forgot my wife and the birthday girl also both ordered Flan. Which they both thought was way too sweet. Our total bill including drinks came to roughly $65 dollars with a $10 dollar off coupon we had to use. There was some confusion at payment time since I actually had a few different coupons to use. They used the best coupon for us for the night. But did not return the remaining coupons to us. And it actually took them quite a bit of time to get us our bill to pay. Overall Fajitas is a good, average Mexican restaurant. As my birthday girl, youngest daughter said she would rather Los Cabos was still there, but it was good to try.
