Texas Roadhouse was the best dining experience I have had in Decatur, IL. Busy, but with seats uncharacteristically available, the atmosphere was, lit without being too lit to enjoy a Bud Light on tap and homemade rolls (for free. Like, they just give them to you). The elderly man next to me was jovial as he asked to be cut off at 6:45 pm. Later, a waitress announced that a man was celebrating his 40th birthday and the restaurant obliged to scream "Yeehaw" in unison at the waitress's behest. 4 stars because my ribeye was kinda gristly.

The food is enjoyable for the most part and the prices are really good, but the atmosphere makes me hate coming here. The place is always so packed and cluttered, you can't even walk to the bathroom without bumping into people. Other places in Decatur get just as busy and I never have this same problem at those restaurants, so I think it's just a faulty layout Roadhouse has. It's like they try to pack in as many people as they can in the smallest area possible. It doesn't help matters that the servers are required to do line-dances in the aisle at least once an hour, making an already cluttered restaurant even more cluttered. Sound-wise, the place gets very loud. They blare really bad mainstream country music over the stereo, which is fine if you enjoy that sort of thing, but it can be difficult to hear what other people are saying. If you're looking for a good place to take a date, this would probably be the last place I recommend. Based on the food alone, I'd give this 4 stars. The free rolls they give are excellent and the decent-size steak portions are very tender. This won't be the best steak you've ever eaten or anything like that, but for a $9 price tag, it's easily affordable and much better than the steak at other Decatur restaurants like O'Charlie's or Ruby Tuesdays. If you live in the area and want a good steak, Texas Roadhouse comes highly recommended, but my only suggestion is that you get take-out instead of eating it there.

very disappointed. After waiting 1 hour (for a 30-45 min wait time) we were seated. drink order and appetizer order went in and came right away. the food order took another 1 hour and 2 of the 5 meals were cold and dry............ I was only visiting this area but I will never go back if I stumble through again............... PRO: staff was friendly

This was a stop over for a business trip and a much needed ribeye and beer. I sat at the bar and I must say its refreshing to know that you can come across some of the chains that k ow how to prepare a steak. The bartender (Megan) was very friendly, fast, and interactive. This place clearly has regulars at the bar and that is for a reason. Keep up the good work Megan -Mack

I've eaten here a few times while in Decatur for business. Generally, the food is pretty good. The last time I was in, I ordered the pork chops, and they were some of the best I've ever eaten. They were thick-cut and juicy, and very well seasoned. On previous visits, my steaks have always been well prepared. Typically, I eat at the bar, and the service there has always been good. In particular, Foz is always friendly, and she makes sure my beer glass stays full. I would agree with other reviewers about the music and dancing. I'm not a fan of country music, and would prefer if it were less obtrusive. Also, the line dancing is just awful. It doesn't seem to happen every time I'm there, I just wish it would never happen. Overall, not too bad for a quick meal and some beers.

This Texas Roadhouse is fairly consistent with the other Texas Roadhouses across the nation. Cold beers, hot steaks, and friendly waitstaff along with clean environment make this an enjoyable place to eat when in Forsyth/Decatur. The meals are prepared consistently (I order the same thing every time) and the prices are very reasonable.

Appearance. outside the parking lot is well lorganized with lotz of parking that is usually full. The building is as to be expected, clean and prezentable. The only beef I have with the outside is that I am a smoker and when I went outside to make a phone call and have a smoke their music playing loudly on the outside speakers made it difficult to hear the person on the other end or the line. Inside the decor in this place is very busy. The tables and booths are laid out for maximum seating not comfort. With cramped seating and isles this place made me want to run for open feilds everytime I leave. The neon lighting is horrible but at least they stopped patrons from throwing their peanut shells on the floor, a major factor in why in the past I rarely went here. I still have an issue with the floors and funishings feeling or being less than clean. Appearance accounts for one of the stars they lost. Service: The feeling I get about the hireing manager is this, if you are an attractive, skinny, 20 something woman wanting to get into the food service industry as wait staff try this place. Almost all of the wait staff fits this demografic. Most of them are pretty decent at their job and most are friendly. Service is the other star they lost. As most of the wait staff is adiquate at their job not once have I expirienced really good serivce. I fear that this is because of the hireing manager not shifting somewhat from hiring very young women that are really pretty instead of talented. Better training and atleast a few staff members with good expirience and better than average service may change this for this place. When at a restaraunt like this people don't want to hear the wait staff complaining about the latest gossip in their lives. Food: The food is good for a chain. If your looking for a decent steak try this place. The portions are large for everything but the main dish. When you order your drinks they serve you with rolls and a butter that is great. Salads and sides are large protions but tast as though they have been prepaired in bulk and left to sit under a heat lamp or hot dish. Over all if your not looking for a quiet sitdown dinner and par/subpar service for a chain with average to good food for a chain this is exactly what your looking for.

I had never been to a Texas Roadhouse before. I know, I was naive to expect a quality dining experience, but I guess I'm just a cockeyed optimist. I'll outline a few things for you... The Good: - Our server was polite and fairly attentive - The rolls with cinnamon butter were very tasty - My boyfriend's chicken-fried steak was surprisingly yummy The Bland: - I ordered the "Grilled BBQ Chicken," which was an overcooked half-lb chicken breast, slathered in barbecue sauce. I don't know, I somehow expected...more oomph? Maybe something I couldn't have made myself at home with a George Foreman grill and a bottle of K.C. Masterpiece? Oh, this was $10, by the way. - My meal came with two sides; I chose applesauce and a loaded baked potato. The applesauce was standard, no problems there. The loaded baked potato was kind of a gyp, though: a spoonful of sour cream, a couple bacon bits, and a bunch of unmelted shredded cheese. Really? I paid an extra dollar for unmelted shredded cheese? Lame. - The server forgot to bring one of our friend's sides. The Ugly: - At one point, the music was turned up really loud so the waitresses could line dance in the middle of the restaurant. This is always so awkward. They clearly don't want to be line dancing, and we clearly don't want to be watching them. And yet, there we were. Extra-ugly: I didn't see any of the male servers line dancing. Not a one. They were all walking around, doing their regular thing. Sexism, anyone?

Meh. It all averages out to being not worth it. The steaks and rolls are great. However the wait is atrocious. The atmosphere feels like a honky tonk bar and unless that's REALLY your thing it's just obnoxious. The music is so loud the wait staff has to shout and if you think you had a wait for your table just wait until you're starving staring at license plates hoping your food is on every tray that passes by. Overall I'd rather spend $7 extra and go to Fuji's.

The Texas Roadhouse is the best place to get steaks in Decatur. This location is always busy but the service is good. Something has changed...road house is our favorite place to eat, but we went last Friday and the quality of the steaks has went down. Bland tasting. They kept suggesting steak sauce. If I'm going out to eat a steak, why do I need sauce to improve the taste.

Texas Roadhouse has a lively atmosphere and good food. The restaurant opens at 4 o' clock and is usually fairly busy. My advice is call ahead and make a reservation or be prepared to wait in their waiting room for a little while. Be sure and try the rolls because they are delicious. They cook steaks to order and have a decent variety of sides. Their salads are awesome!

Went there last Tuesday . First of all I like they steak. But seem in last tow time I come here I just feel like they drop quality of service down. The time before I try to order bone in ripeye. Sorry we runout . Okay how about bbq rip? Yes we have but came out dry and cold. Look like I pay top $$$ FOR microwave rip.. Try again last Tuesday. Start with dinner roll . If you want to give customer hard and cold bread. I think I'm okay to have peanut. I ask sever to chance another one. Yes he chance to another one for us and it under cook and yes cold and hard. And what every he told us is . This is the last one we have for now. I'm kidda laugh with myself and said that's okay keep going with peanut.. Then when the soup came out . Bammm are you kidding me ? What's not to love! This restaurant is the perfect package of 5 star service and quality. I usually get the sirloin with rice and mashed potatoes with country gravy for $8.99. The rolls are amazing and the butter for them is too. My whole family can always agree on this place. The rice and mashed potatoes what can I say I can't get enough. The best tasting food I've ever found! No, I don't work there, but I am a HUGE fan of this place. I don't have any complaints.
