Food Suggestions to Maintain Cholesterol Level at Applebee's
We stopped here on Saturday night because it didn't look as busy as Texas Roadhouse. We were greeted promptly and seated quickly. We had 4 adults and 1 child and they crammed us in a booth. Not much elbow room. We decided we would get the pick 2 for 20.00. We ordered the queso dip and boneless wings for the appetizer. It took an unusually long amount of time for the appetizers to come out. We joked that they would bring the appetizer with the meals. They must have heard us because that is exactly what happened. They brought the appetizers out and set them on the table and no more than 30 seconds later the food came out. Since we were crammed in a booth there was no way all that food would fit on our table so they assured us they would take the meals back and keep them warm until we were ready. What? The appetizers were good. Then they brought the food out. I had the sirloin and baked potato. The sirloin was a rough cut of meat but tasted good. The baked potato was something else. I'm not sure what was wrong with it but the texture and flavor were totally off. My daughter got the kids mac and cheese and it was served cold and dry. They took it back and made her a new one but it was still bad. It's blue box Kraft Mac and Cheese which is like 33 cents and they charged 4.99. That's not right. The reason I gave this 3 stars instead of a lower rating is because of our waitress who was top notch and super nice and the manager who comped our meals. That rarely happens anymore especially without asking for the meal to be comped. That in itself was quite a surprise for us and it was really appreciated.

Sat at the bar and was glad I did, Christin is very attentive, always smiling and great under pressure. She had more customers than any of the other wait staff to wait on and performed flawlessly...

Yes--It's an Applebees.... So you know what to expect. My two cents: My family and i have eaten there a number of times and also picked up 'take out' orders several times and have always been very happy. Felt the need to make a post and thank the team at this local eatery for doing a nice job!! See you soon Applebees!

I've been to this Applebees three times in the last four years. Experience One (Dinner with the Family): They did not have the normal bread for the sandwich I had ordered so they replaced it with something else. Did not even ask if that was okay. Did the same to my mom's side order. She asked for mashed potatoes but they were out and gave her french fries (without asking). Did not offer to bring out anything else or reduce our bill. Experience Two (Birthday Dinner): I know we were a large party, but the server screwed up three hours and it took over an hour to get our food. No drink refills were offered. Finally someone went up to complain to the manager. Experience Three (Date): My husband went there. They seated us right away in the bar area even though we asked for a booth or table. We waited for ten minutes and never had a server come out to our table. Left without anyone noticing. Unless there is going to be a management change, I will not be visiting this Applebees again. Hands down, the worst service in Decatur.

About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak.
