This place is wonderful-mostly because of the food! The server was very polite & the atmosphere is very quiet/ laid back. I ordered the seaweed salad & pad see ewe which was delicious and very filling. The prices are extremely affordable. Can't wait to come back and try something new!

What a nice little place this is. I had lunch at Pinto Thai on Saturday with The Boss, who has been there many times before. We are both vegetarians, so I had the Thai Cashew Nut with vegetables, and The Boss had Lard Nar with tofu. Food: very delicious. Beautiful presentation. Arrived quickly and arrived hot. Ambience: very nice. The Boss remarked that they had remodelled recently. Since it was my first visit, I can't confirm or deny. The place is cute in a modern sort of way. Service: Very fast, friendly, and efficient. Water glasses kept getting filled. The meals came quickly and simultaneously. Dirty dishes were picked up quickly. Got our check in proper order. Prices: Okay. It is sad that I am a terrible cheapskate. My lunch was $7.95. I ate the whole thing, and it was delicious. Still, I think that's too much. I don't know what The Boss paid, since we actually talked business and that made it chargeable to the business account. YAY!! Will I go back? Oh yeah. My meal had all the hallmarks of what I consider good Thai food to be. It was fresh, healthy, and flavorful. It's nice to have another place to get lunch on Central Street.

I am surprised at how high this place is rated. Some of the worst Thai food I have had in a while. Food was bland and boring. The Tom Yum was super sweet and had a weird fishy taste to it. The veggies seemed old and wilted. Too bad-I had really wanted to like this place since it is so close to our new house.

Another Thai restaurant that I don't see myself going back to. The problem here, I think, is that they're trying to encompass multiple Asian cuisines, including Thai, Japanese and Chinese. While there's nothing wrong with that, it's simply not my cup of tea... This review may be premature as we've only tried two entrees - basil chicken and ginger chicken in creamy sauce - as recommended by the server. Both dishes were quite heavy, but tasty with lots of basil and ginger. (I love them both!) Nothing special about them, though. The decor is clean and modern, and the server's polite. We saw many people dropping in for take-outs while we were the only one dining in. *BYOB*

Never had Thai food that lacked flavor until I came to Pinto. Portions are good, but if the food is bland then it doesn't matter how much of it is served. Might give them another try, but the Tom Yum soup was so unimpressive that it'll be awhile before that happens.

The best Thai red curry anywhere. When I travel I dream of returning home so I can drop in to Pinto for lunch. BYOB or go to Bluestone across the street afterwards for a beer. A simple place without all the kitchy Thai crap. Never crowded as most people pick up to go or get delivery. Very fresh food, it will take as long as it takes. You want fast, go to a Chinese buffet, eat fast and die.

Called in larger order for carry out. Arrived on time and had to wait almost 20 minutes for food to appear, in spite of no other obvious orders and absolutely no one in the restaurant at dinner time. I would have cancelled except for hungry family waiting at home. And there was NO AROMA of any food being prepared. What's the problem here? Food was mostly generic Thai: nothing special and no surprises. Will not go here again, although Thai options on the North Shore are limited. Can not recommend Pinto. Get your act together, and have some pleasant aromas lingering in your empty, austere dining room. Have your carry out orders ready before your customers arrive to get them.

The food is outstanding, but on multiple occasions our entrees have come out with huge time gaps. I understand a couple minutes, but I'm talking 20+ minute time gaps. I hate to critique a place that I really like, but the service and kitchen time is atrocious. With that said everything I've had is delicious. Please figure out the service!

Speedy fast delivery, fresh veggies, yummy food. What more can you ask for? Maybe slightly cheaper price tag, but it goes with the territory. Love the peppered beef and wontons with the sauce. Miso soup also excellent.

Very nice customer service. Would try other dishes again based on customer service only. Cons: Mini eggrolls and pad thai were just average. I've had better and their really nothing to rave about. However the Garlic Noodle dish was horrible. It had no Garlic flavor what so ever. It was a sweet funky sauce that they poured over the noodles. The execution on this dish was extremely poor and lacked flavor. Wis I ived near by I'd ask for a refund.

Ordered from here two times. First time, I got the spicy basil stir fry with vegetables and the second time I got shrimp and scallops with asparagus and extra vegetables. Portions are generally pretty tiny for what you pay... I can get WAY more food at somewhere like joy yees for only a couple extra dollars, so that's definitely a minus. I was pretty pissed when I ordered my shrimp and scallops because I literally got 7 small shrimps and 3 scallops. Like for reals? You call this a meal? The biggest saving grace of this place is that the food isn't overly oily and is relatively clean tasting. And the food itself does taste pretty decent... just really need to rethink their portions.

Five stars? Really? Well yea, cuz why not. For the money its the most reliable Thai place in a city with more oriental food than homeless people. They deliver quickly, are among the cheapest and their ingredients are fresh. Im a fan of their option to choose the spice level for individual dishes. Ive never eaten there and dont plan to. Im also not going to tell you whats good here because you know what kind of Thai food you like, and this will meet your specifications, only slightly better than any of the other spots will. Overall the best Thai delivery in Evanstion

The best Rama chicken and Pad Woon Seen in the area!!! Great service!!! Portions were huge!!! I absolutely loved the Thai coffee as well. I didn't even know it was on Central Street right near the Spice House. It's a nice place to go to have a great Thai lunch when shopping in Evanston.

Food was good but THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE ENCOUNTERED!! PLEASE dont bother, these people don't seem to understand what a SERVICE industry is. The waitress didn't even bother to give us silverware, or ask whether we wanted something and was busy chatting. The wait staff were BUSY gossiping with each other that made the experience very FORGETTABLE. Pretty much TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE service which does a great deal of disservice to their food. Food was good but YOU ARE NOT ON SALE. DONT BOTHER! Did I mention they were BUSY eating their own dinner instead of serving us? Not hygenic!

I am sitting here at my desk eating Pinto's Orange Chicken dish as I am typing my review. I can honestly say they make some of the best orange chicken I have ever had! All of the noodle dishes are done very well and the lunch special deals are great! I don't know what the actual restaurant is like because I have never been there despite me working around the corner from them. However, I will say delivery is prompt and my food is warm when it gets here. I highly recommend Pinto Thai Kitchen for lunch or any other time!

good quality, small quantity, bleh service tom yum soup was one of the best i've had, though i'm no expert on this soup. baby egg rolls are tiny. like can't-poke-them-with-a-fork tiny.

Incredibly poor service, and not so much as a "we're sorry." Placed a small take-out order at 7:30pm. Yes, it's Mother's Day, but they said the food would be ready in 25 minutes. At 8:30pm, the food was finally ready. The crab rangoon was undercooked, the bubble tea didn't have the extra tapioca requested, the orange chicken was greasy and soggy. During my extended wait, I had the opportunity to chat with multiple angry customers, some eating at the restaurant, some also waiting for takeout. One eat-in customer was furious because his entree too so long to come out of the kitchen that his dining companions had to leave, being unable to stay so long. Accuracy of filling the order: Zero stars. Accuracy of timing: Zero stars. Food quality: Zero stars. Service quality: Zero stars. Never again.

Not gourmet, and like others have said very American-influenced, but still pretty much everything you could want in a neighborhood Thai place. Great Pad Thai, Lard Na, and Pad Se Yewe (not sure if I spelled that right) and as others have mentioned crab rangoon. Service is always rapid, polite and very professional. They don't have much dining in because parking sucks on that little stretch of Central Street but they have people picking up carry-out pretty much nonstop, including, frequently, me. I happen to live nearby and so I do occasionally dine in and they're nevertheless very attentive to their tables. Completely kid-friendly due to hardly ever being crowded and the prices are at that near-perfect balance of quality vs. affordability that always keeps this place on our speed dial. And now I'm thinking about their crab rangoon. Maybe I'll take a walk... Also now that I think of it, this place makes an excellent alternative to Starbucks if you want to hang out at lunchtime and set up your laptop. Not sure what they've got for Internet access, but if you like to write quietly at a nice clean table and watch the people walk by while sipping hot tea, this is a lovely place for that.

So there I was, wandering back to my car from a visit to the Spice House and I felt a bit hungry. I'm a semi-vegetarian, so I was looking for something where I didn't HAVE to eat meat unless I felt like it that day. Bluestone was super-crowded so I figured I'd try the completely empty Thai place across the street. Turns out to have been an excellent choice. I had the Spicy Seafood, which was a red curry with shrimp, squid, crab, bamboo shoots, peppers and basil leaves. (I was in a carnivorous mood after all!) The spice/heat was just perfect and for my $10 I got enough food for two people, so I took home a doggie bag. (My boyfriend said the curry was great, even reheated a few hours later.) I was also pleased with my iced coffee. The menu had many choices and just about everything that didn't specifically showcase meat has the option to be prepared with tofu, which I consider a plus. There was an interesting dish, Maryland crab cakes in green curry, which I found to be intriguing idea, but I haven't tried it yet. As you might guess from the other reviews, it's not strictly Thai food, but more of a pan-Asian approach to those Thai dishes that you find in American restaurants. I'd agree with the other reviewers that the decor is not inspiring, however, my waitperson mentioned that they were in the middle of redecorating. Overall, I was very happy with the quality of food I got for the amount of money I paid. I'd especially recommend this place for vegetarians, given the many non-meat choices available. Also, if you like a bit more heat in your dishes, the menu very clearly states that any dish can be spiced to your taste. Also, the place is BYOB. I'd definitely go back again.

My husband and I thought our Thai Sunday tradition might have to be a thing of the past when we moved to north Evanston, but were nicely surprised to discover Pinto Thai Kitchen. Their noodle dishes are done very well, with nicely balanced flavors, and if you want a little heat, all you have to do is ask!

Ordered delivery from here because it's on my list of restaurants for earning bonus miles for united.... It was listed as Chinese/ Thai and I was looking for Chinese food so I gave it a try for a family gathering. I found the food to be ok but a little on the bland side. Maybe a bit healthier because there was less sauce than most places. I was most disappointed with the amount of food you get for the money. Portions are much much smaller than your typical place. We barely had enough food for everyone where I would usually have tons of leftovers. I will not be ordering from here again because it's just not worth the money to me and the food wasn't that good. Delivery was fast though.

Awesome Thai food. Favorites are the Pad Thai and Sesame Chicken. Cooks are fantastic at light frying. Everything always tastes fresh and great. Love the way they cut up the tofu. Mainly a carry out place but the seating is nice as well always clean inside. Only thing about it is not very spicy for Thai food even when ordered as extra spicy. I just add Siriachi hot sauce though. Open late for the area every day. Lunch specials are a bargain.

This is my go-to Thai place for lunch during the work week. Their pad thai is great and I also love the seaweed salad. They're pretty good with delivery times and they occasionally throw in a can of pop which is a nice surprise. I order from here all the time and have always been very happy with the food.

I live down the street and just recently decided to try this place. It's rarely busy and very small inside (so I was a little worried the food might not be stellar.) Boy was I wrong! We got crab rangoon with wonderful sauce to dip them in (we would have liked to lick the bowl clean). Then we had a spicy seafood dish and sesame chicken. Both were extremely fresh and the seafood had plenty of fresh veggies. The chicken also had a wonderful sauce that was sweet, sour, and a little spicy! It was by far the crispiest fried chicken I have EVER had ANYWHERE and simply wonderful. I hope to make this place a regular spot to get my "Asian Food" fix!

Great place for a quick dinner. The prices are very reasonable, and the service is excellent. We went on a Saturday night and it was almost empty - hopefully they do decent carry-out business.

We LOVE, LOVE this place. The owner and his staff are wonderful and make you feel very welcome. They are especially nice to small children--often comping deserts etc. And the service is not only friendly but fast. The dishes are great--healthier than your usual super-fried SEAsian spots in the Midwest and inexpensive. Portions are generous. We are fans.

What's great? Quaint & adorable place which does as big a take-away biz as anything else. Affordable, great variety & free crab rangoon with take-out orders over $20! Wow! What's even better? Its BYO - you can't beat it.

We popped in here quite spontaneously last night, knowing nothing about it (for us, this is an unusual tack) in advance. I had the crazy noodles. They were fine but not quite what I was in the mood for, so I accept responsibility for that. However, my friend ordered the coconut chicken which was outstanding. Oh how I wish I had ordered that instead! It came in a large bowl, fragrant steam wafting up to greet you. It was hearty and flavorful. My husband ordered the pad thai. Solid choice, but he ordered beef in his, while I would have preferred chicken. It was nothing to write home about, for sure. The service was attentive and ever-smiling. If I were in the area again and craving some curry goodness, I'd stop in, but as it's a jaunt from my neighborhood, I wouldn't make a trek out just for the noodles.

This was my second time ate at this restaurant. The first time was alright. But the second time is worse. We ordered togo. The service was not as pleasant. The waitress who took our order seem to be too busy to answer question or maybe she didn't understand the question. We had Spicy crazy noodle and fried rice. Fried rice is ok but the noodle is horrible. The noodle was little and lots of vegeteble and chicken was tough. It was almost like chinese style chow mein style.

Not authentic by a long shot, but Ameri-Thai at its best. While salmon may not swim in the rivers of Thailand, that doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed bathed in a coconut curry sauce with some very American bell peppers. There is nothing over one-star of spiciness here, but the curries and other dishes still have plenty of flavor. In fact, I think this place might have advantages because it's not too spicy- don't fret about bringing the kids or grandma. Many of the dishes are actually Ameri-Chinese, so you can actually get Chinese takeout style sesame or orange chicken and potstickers. I appreciated the panang curry's liberal vegetable to meat ratio, since some Asian restaurants skimp on meat. I also really liked the vegetable roll appetizer, which was non-fried, stuffed with healthy vegetables and surprisingly good pineapple, and came with a sweet peanut dipping sauce. The service was OK, but they brought out my family's dishes at different times. It seems to specialize in takeout, but I thought the dine-in area was fine for casual dining. Overall it's not adventurous, but I still found the food delicious and satisfying.

Good quality little thai place! Always satisfying 1)Attentive service 2)Good variety of food and drink available 3)Real knack for a crisp light fry on fried dishes 4)Great crab rangoon and spring rolls Lovely little place along a pleasant street.

Uninspiring space, food, and service. This place strikes me as a carry out joint that later decided to add a few tables. Sure, there are pretty pictures on the wall.. but the rest of the space is spartan.. and the phone rings very, very LOUDLY. My appetizer (spring rolls) was forgettable, and my entree (pad khee mao) was decent. Our food was served white girl style, aka not spicy like the menu says and without chopsticks. Portions here, sadly, are not large enough to give you leftovers for tomorrow's lunch. Our waitress took our order and brought our food. She may have smiled once or twice, and she did say "good night." Because this place is right down the street from work, I'm sure I'll try them again as carry-out, but there's really no reason to dine in, If I wasn't in the area, I wouldn't go out of my way to carry-out from here.

We love to order takeout from Pinto. The food is great especially the Thai fried rice and pukhet noodles. They have fast delivery. Even when they say 45 minutes it'd arrives in 20! Yum yum!

I've had delivery here twice, and it gets better each time, except that the guy can't seem to come into the building where I work...so he makes me come down...oh well. First time I ordered the Pad Thai with Chicken, and it was delicious...but...I ordered the Pad Khee Mao with cripsy noodles, and it's outstanding. I had it delivered, and it was fast and the noodles were still crunchy and the meat (chicken) was tender and delicious. I've never eaten in, but their delivery (if you can walk out to meet the driver) is fast and delicious.

These folks have a great attitude, but their food is just too mediocre. My first visit, I put them through my usual first-time assessment for Thai restaurants--cucumber salad, spring rolls, chicken pad thai. The Thai rolls were fresh and light, but bland. Even the dipping sauce didn't jazz it up much. The cucumber salad was A+, maybe the best I've ever had. You might think that a cucumber salad would not vary much from place to place, but you would be wrong. Pinto serves theirs in a broad, shallow bowl, so the dressing is evenly distributed through the whole salad. Most cucumber salads swim in a pool of the dressing, with dry slices on top and drowned ones beneath. Not only was this salad not over-dressed, the flavor was the perfect balance of sweetness and zing. Unfortunately, the chicken pad thai which followed was dry and VERY boring. It needed more sauce and peanuts. It didn't taste bad, just too bland. Yesterday I got takeout from there--spicy basil chicken. It was better than the pad thai but not that great. Maybe a C or C+. This place is close to my route home, so I might consider takeout again sometime. Their dine-in experience is entirely forgettable, with no ambience to speak of, and service which swings between over-attentive and ignoring (same server, same visit).

Just on here to find their number and have wanted to review, been going there for a couple years...Oh my, I am addicted to their yellow curry. I talked to a client the other day who had the same consensus! Their pad see eiw, tempura, and thai egg rolls, and crab rangoons are yummy too! Eh on the pad thai. In my opinion, if you ask for the basil chicken (cut into little pieces) its much better and that's pretty much anywhere that doesn't already do it. That's all the tips I have...Try it, nice people as well.

Our standard Thursday night take out fare. Rarely disappoints an overworked girl in desperate need of comfort food, red wine and 30 Rock. I love the chicken pad thai and my husband's go-to is the panang curry.

I went here with my friends for our monthly dinner. Since we haven't eaten up around Central in Evanston, we decided to try Pinto Thai on the advice of someone who lived in the area. The portions were just right, not overwhelming, but not small. Though if you are starving, you may need to supplement your entree with an appetizer. The food was good, not the best I've ever had, but decent enough to warrant a trip if I'm in the area. I had the beef Pad See Ewe and it was really good. Friends had the cashew chicken and the golden noodles and were completely satified. The ambiance and decor was nice, colorful, and intimate and a grown-up version of Cozy Noodles in downtown Evanston. One big plus about this place is that it allowed us to split the check onto 4 different credit cards, which Cozy Noodles won't let us do. If you are in the area and craving asian food, stop by and you won't be disappointed.

I adore this place. It has a cute atmosphere, fast service, and really great food! I'm not usually a fan of fried Asian cuisine (like orange chicken or egg rolls) because it tends to be too greasy for me. But the fried items at Pinto are light and crispy! No extra grease! Yay! Also, they have some of the best crab rangoon I've had. And I am a crab rangoon freak. Seriously, I order it everywhere. It's amazing here. Eat it.

While this is definitely not the best Thai I have ever had, Pinto is good enough that I keep going back. I wouldn't dine in, the dining room is incredibly small, but I frequently get pick-up. The curry dishes are my favorite, well balanced flavor and enough for two meals. I also like the spring rolls and they have a mean Thai iced tea. I have never had a dish there that I would label as "bad". This is the only Thai place in North Evanston (as far as I know), which definitely heightens it's appeal. Beware - parking is a battle!!!

We-three adults and two young children- came here for dinner the other night after not being able to get a table at Bluestone across the street. We all liked it very much. We had the best Crab Rangoon I think I've ever tried. I ordered some Maki and Singapore Noodles. It was all very good. The service was fine. My children enjoyed it. I felt very neutral about the ambiance- it was great for my kids in other words. I would go back for sure and I would pick it over just about any other place. Next time however I would BYO. The prices were very low.

Consistently good Thai takeout. Crab rangoon, pad see ew, and panang curry always do the trick.
