Today will be the LAST time I eat at DD Dogs.I lived on the corner of Ridge/Noyes this past year, and thus, Dogs was an extremely convenient option for a quick bite. Usually, if I eat at a restaurant quite frequently, the establishment grows on me. Unfortunately, this was not the case for Dogs. Why? 1) The place is always dirty. There are crumbles/bits and pieces of food everywhere on the table, the floor is sticky, and even the bathroom feels unsanitary (which is why I usually get my order to-go). 2) For the most part the guys behind the counter give off a negative vibe. - I usually am greeted by a mocking or angry tone, although I really have done nothing wrong. I sometimes wonder if they just don't like Asians or really hate their job 3) Not to be picky or anything, but one time, I ordered my omelette with cheese. Right from the first bite, I realized that there was no cheese inside my omelette so I asked if they could put some in while the omelette was still hot. As a response, I got an angry "you never asked for it in the first place" so I had to show them my receipt and prove mathematically (yes I'm a math major and cheese is worth extra 65 cents) that they added cheese on my order from the start. They re-made my omelette, but the new one was so salty that I couldn't even finish half of it. 4) Finally, this reason may be the one that pissed me off the most. I'm not sure if yelpers are aware of BellyCard, but it's like a customer rewards program (1 visit/check-in = 5 points, and when you reach a certain number, you get free stuff). Anyways, after checking in recently at Dogs, I came back home to find out that I claimed a "hearty-bowl of chili" (worth 35 points)......... when I didn't........ Also I haven't seen anyone after me get anything resembling a bowl of chili. Not to make accusations or anything, but the only logical explanation would be these clowns screwing with my "I wonder why I even came here a whopping 7 times in the first place -_-" So much for a customer loyalty program. Other than that, food is mediocre (hotdogs and omelettes are okay, fries suck, they claim to have the best burgers in town but umm...... no..........) and honestly, I have no good reason to eat here anymore. Bye Dogs. It was nice knowing you (not really).

I just came earlier today for a quick lunch. I ordered a double Chicago Dog with everything and a side of Cheese Fries. The fries were okay -- the frozen crinkle-cut style fries you see at a lot of cafeterias and it had warm melted cheese dripped over it. It was passable and luckily hit the spot. The dogs weren't bad at all, especially for the price ($3.65). They came with celery salt, relish, mustard, pickles, and sport peppers. Yum. I don't think I'll ever be craving dogs from DD, but it's nice to know it's just around the corner in case I can't make it out to anywhere else. Note: $5 minimum on card purchases.

Cheap, decent food. Service isn't great, but honestly, who cares?
(3)Annie W.
Every time I go in here I feel like I'm getting the "up-and-down" look from the guys behind the counter. "Hey! My eyes are up here, mister!" Aside from that, it's your typical hot dog joint. No frills, quick service, in a little restaurant that looks like it could use some spit shine.
(3)Yoie L.
The only thing that I liked about this place is the huge portion they give you. I guess the guys are pretty friendly too. Other than that, the fries are really bland, and I am not the kind of person who complains about fries and undersalted food ever!
(3)Steve A.
A perfectly acceptable Chicago dog. Quite a variety of other offerings, and large portions. Not a lunch destination, but a reasonable choice if you're in the area and looking for something inexpensive and quick.
(3)Leah W.
this place is fun and lovely. It's exactly what you expect when it comes to the ambiance, but with fresh Greek food and a super friendly staff. It's a little grubby but that's part or it's charm.
(5)Liza P.
I go here for lunch whenever I have a craving for corndogs. They taste pretty good (nothing too special), but it usually takes a while to make them.
(3)Michael S.
Food is ok but terrible customer services. People are racist here and service is bias.
(2)Yuanjia Z.
I used to live right next to this place so I have definitely gone there multiple times for late night food. I usually get the philly beef with fries. I have to say that the portion size is HUGE given the price and the fries are SUPER GOOD. must try. I understand that this place may look a bit dirty and cheap but I would not use that to judge against them. I mean, this is what you get for what you paid for, right? $7 dinner combo to go, pretty good deal for me! plus most tasty places are either super top notch or super down to earth on the street.

I have been to this place more times that I can count. I love the gyro and the buffalo chicken wrap. It's a go-to place for me. Will continue to eat there. I spent a year working in Birmingham, Alabama, and all I spent the whole time looking for a similar gyro. I was never able to find one. When you want a greasy and delicious gyro, its gotta be D&D.
(5)David S.
Gyros. Chicago Dogs. Burgers. Memories of college made hazy as seen through a grease covered window.
(5)Dee W.
Delicious grease - they have your typical hot dogs, gyros, burgers, and even breakfast sandwiches. My favorites there are their hot dogs and gyros. They even have chicken gyros, too! They have a lot of options and their portions are huge. Prices are decent for what you're getting and they have their own free parking lot. It's also right by the Noyes Purple Line stop so that's convenient, as well.
(4)Censor T.
The 1/2 pound cheeseburger and cheese fries are amazing. I could eat them every meal. If you're into breakfast, their omelettes are also outstanding and you get a lot of food for your money! Very nice atmosphere, even better burgers.
(5)Simplelife S.
Ate there yesterday for the 1st time. Pretty good. The cook seemed to know just about each person by name that came in. This must be the neighborhood spot to get a hot dog. small needs remodel prices are reasonable friendly staff food was hot and fresh

I've worked near this place for over a decade and have only eaten here maybe 3 or 4 times. Today I had chicken gyro, which was really good. So far, I'm never disappointed with my orders! I usually bring lunch from home because most fast foods joints are too pricey for my budget as is the case with this place. However, when I'm in the mood for take out (excluding McDooDoo and Burger King), then I expect the food to be good as is the case with D D Dogs. One more suggestion... Order ahead because they don't rush when they cook, which I like! It can take up to 20 minutes to prepare your food on an uncrowded day and if you only have 30 minutes to an hour for lunch then keep in mind this in mind. Also, unlike downtown Evanston, there's always a place to park!
(3)Will B.
Good food. Quick and convenient.
(3)Liz A.
This place is conveniently located in an unusual area of Evanston, unusual being that there is usually almost always a parking spot on the street here AND they have a private parking lot, so that in itself makes it a reason to stop here if you need a quick bite to eat. That being said, the food is ok-- nothing special. I would recommend the spinach pie; most people going here only consider burgers and dogs, but the spinach pie is probably my favorite thing on the menu-- quite a nice surprise for a hot dog joint.
(3)Leo S.
This place doesn't try to be anything other than what it is: a cheap fast food place. Honestly, nothing here is outstanding except for the fries. They have a great ratio of crunch to potato and a good amount of salt. Service here is not the best: they don't always get your order right in terms of modifications.

Here is another joint from the misty past of my college years. My friends and I lived on Northwestern's North Campus (an unofficial designation), and then in Ridge/Noyes apartments for two years, so the Noyes Street corridor was our only quick-strike food option. Back then there were only three or four spots, and we definitely frequented D&D the most. I've been in there a few times in the last year or so, and it's not changed much. They swapped the ratty plastic booths for cheap tables and chairs. The old staticy 23-inch rabbit-ear tube TV is the same but now it gets basic cable and is somehow always tuned to a sporting event no matter the time of day. Also, they upgraded their menu board, which is now much easier to read. Of course, prices have been upgraded since the 1997-2001 era, but you can't complain about that. The food is pretty varied for a grill/hot dog joint. There probably about 20 different sandwiches, from philly steak to hot dogs to grilled chicken. They have "dinners" such as rib tips and Sicilian chicken, whatever that is. And until noon they serve breakfast too, including omelettes for $5.69 which come with toast and hash browns, which is a hell of a deal. Their breakfast egg sandwich is probably the best item that I've had. Only $3.59, it comes on a great thick sesame bread with eggs cooked however you want them, meat of your choice, and cheese. Other food in the B range: Philly chicken sandwich (lots of peppers and big chunks of chicken, but too much cheese); rib tips (meat too tough, but generous portion and very good tangy sauce); pulled pork sandwich (great toasted bun and same sauce but meat kind of mushy and gloopy). In the C range: polish sausage (way bigger than the bun, too greasy, and not enough onions); french fries (slightly undercooked, mealy food-service crinkle-cut types); onion rings (the minced kind, bleah, but at least cooked to crispness); and the regular hot dogs (reliable but nothing special). You will still see the same mix of NU students, Evanston teenagers, and various older local residents. Yesterday I couldn't hear the TV or read my magazine over the amusing chatter of four ETHS girls talking about their biology teacher, periods, and making out with boys (no joke) and the annoying babble of the forty-something joker to my left who was telling his lady friend how he could prove that global warming isn't real, among other idiocies. It might have been a little early yesterday for the NU frat squad to roll in looking dishevelled and regaling each other with tales of last night's debauchery, but stop in between 12:30 and 2 for that show. That's the kind of fun mix you get in D&D.

I used to go to this place when I worked up the street and around the corner at the Evanston Civic Center. I hadn't been there for years, so I decided to go. The place looks brighter on the inside than it used to, and menu items have changed. I had a buffalo chicken sandwich -- not the wrap. It was basically chicken tenders with a little buffalo sauce slapped on. Eh, I wasn't impressed by that, nor by the fries either. So much for traveling back down memory lane. . . .
(2)Franklin D.
It's Vienna beef products served in a small place with dirty tables and wobbly chairs. The dudes behind the counter are cool and the food is pretty cheap, so plus one star for that. I had a gyro here that I'm 90% sure was served with mayonnaise where the tzatziki should have been. I got the "Big Deal" for $2.09 extra and it came with way more fries than I could/should be eating. There are some outside tables and there is some free parking here, which is nice.
(3)Mande S.
French fries = tasty; burgers = not bad. Haven't tried hot dogs or gyros yet. But GOOD GOD the sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich is so delicious and greasy that you'll never love another breakfast sandwich again. The guys behind the counter are really friendly and the location is superb for me and for Northwestern students (which is not me).
(4)Rachel L.
This place is great. It's one of those places that makes a bunch of different things on the grill, including burgers and salads. The guys behind the counter are pretty nice, too.
(5)Jims L.
I love their gyros, chili, fries, chili cheese fries, and tacos. They have good specials at good prices - this is really the only store of its kind around Evanston.. a place that has a wide selection of your favorite greasy foods.
(4)Kate S.
They get 3 stars because I don't want to give more since I haven't had anything other than their fries. Their French fries are amazing, though, and the hot dogs smell good (although I've never had one). If I ate burgers or hot dogs I would definitely give them a shot. The fries are a sure thing!
(3)Shaun T.
Nothing new here, move along. The prices and combos are of staggering variety. Seriously, there's gyros, chicken sandwiches of random description, burgers large and small, with or without crispy crinkle-cut fries. It really is too bad this place is way the heck up on Noyes, because it would be a great snack to grab between meals. Northwestern students are lucky with this place on the West side of campus. That said, it's a mix of diner and dive. Fast, greasy, and average. The atmosphere is about what you'd expect, and you'll wonder how the heck they fit six or seven service and prep people behind the counter and in the kitchen; this place is friggin' tiny, all things considered. This is partially countered with the outside eating area, but on cold days, you're better of getting your order to-go. But don't be afraid. It's clean, it's efficient, and it's a damn sight better than the Northwestern Burger King.
(3)Grace L.
Yum, a good place to have brunch after a night out (breakfast sandwiches FTW!) It's really greasy though - the hash browns were sopping. It's super cheap, too!
(3)David F.
This is your standard fast food place, with decent gyros. They have fries, burgers, hot dogs, but nothing that really stands out to me as being that great.
(3)Monique K.
Absolutely NOT!!!!!!! I'm disgusted by the way the cooks handle food before and after collecting money WITHOUT washing their hands. One word: unsanitary.
(1)Kat W.
Decent price, nice people, good selection of hot dog sausages, and darn good fries. Perfect place for a quick (and a bit unhealthy) lunch!
(4)Lena B.
Good cheap, standard fast-ish food fare. Crinkle cut fries are always crunchy on the outside, piping hot on the inside, and perfectly salted. I usually get the turkey burger, but I've had most of the items on the menu over the years. Everything is decent, service & food are consistent.
(4)Nafeesah A.
I started going to this place because of my boyfriend, but they could be better about keeping the tables clean and having a better selection of refrigerated soft drinks. This place is ok for local food, but in the last month they spent some serious cheese taking up the flower bed and having a cement slab put down with some new outdoor seating. They also could have done away with the bolivian roses because those darn things are bringing more flies than attendees at Michael Jackson's memorial service. The food is ok, but nothing to write home about.
(2)Jason P.
Every so often, I'm in the neighborhood and can't help but stop in here for a dog. Pretty solid stuff but I need to try the gyro soon. They are super friendly and know what they are talking about when it comes to short-order food for sure. It's located in optimal location right next to the purple line, and a couple blocks away from camups. I wouldn't make it a habit to go here because your arteries won't last too long. But that's a compliment.
(3)Matt D.
I must say DD Dogs has done a great job turning the place around. They truly care about there customers needs and wants. If you haven't tried the Italian Beef its a must. My wife had there gyros and it was Great!!! For a quick bite you cant go wrong.
(5)Sandra W.
If you want fast hot dogs\gyros\hamburgers, this is a great place to get them. I live on Noyes so this is the perfect place for me to grab fast food. They have good specials and good price. I have never eaten at the place, always take home. It always smells like bleach in there (which is better than smelling like crap). It's a fairly small store but I think they have a bunch of locals. I like the location and how there's a BOA ATM outside of it next to the DD market. All in all, fast food, easy access, yummy.
