Food was above average but not quite good. The prices were not as bad as I had been warned of but....I ordered a panini and felt good about it until I was waiting for my sandwich and witnessed on at least 3 occasions the owner/manager/boss walk by the deli slicer and sliver a piece of meat or cheese and stuff it in his mouth right out there in the wide open...and he never washed his hands. The fourth and final mouth stuffing was a piece of prosciutto going into the pie hole just after finishing making my sandwich. I was disgusted and mentioned it to the cashier but she had no interest in my comments of grossness. Cannot go back regardless of the situation!

I do not recommend the Italian sausage. Mostly fat and gristle and basically not edible. Based on my experience I will not return.

Great sandwiches- quality ingredients. Very friendly staff with good service. Hidden gem for me is the cannoli! Made to order and they come in 2 sizes. Glad to see this place come to town.

Great food and great serves! Best italian deli in town!

My fiancé and I are obsessed. We live just a couple blocks away, and no weekend is complete without a walk down to Zanzi's. My favorite is the classic panini, and his is the Reuben. We just never get tired of these sandwiches! Quality bread, meat and cheese.

I don't understand the reviews of this restaurant. They are either 5 stars or 1 star. How can they vary so much? I guess you either love it or hate it. In either case, it's not that bad, and conversely, not that good. The average (2.5 stars) is probably closer to where they should rank. The Spicy Italian sub was pretty good, but the cheese was little different than expected - maybe a soft mozzarella? Anyway, someone hit the nail on the head when the stated it was too expensive. I've been here a couple of times, so I've learned my lesson. Split the sub, which is 9", with a friend. So instead of spending $11 for a sub, chips, and a drink, you can each eat for around $7. There are a lot of great sub options in town (Rosalia's, Fulla Bologna, etc.). This isn't one of them. As of this writing there are ninety-six restaurants in Elmhurst. I plan on eating at, and reviewing, every one. Follow me on Yelp!

Outstanding service with great food. Subs were fresh and the staff was polite and offered recommendations. Definitely will be back again

This was my first visit to Zanzi's. Prices were a bit high - about 20-30% more than you'd expect. No matter what sandwich you get you're shelling out $10-$12 bucks. I had a Chicken Parm Panini and it was pretty tasty. It was a nice grilled (not fried) marinated chicken breat topped in mozzarella and parmesan cheese. It was quite satisfying. The cannolis looked pretty good too. It's decent based on my one visit but certainly not in the same league as Nottoli's Delli.

Breaking away from our normal lunch place (chow) my fiancé decided to try somewhere new. She got me the Italian sub and she had an Italian beef. I really was hoping as advertised fresh bread but it was hard. The cold cuts were nothing but normal lunch meat. I tried her Italian beef only to find it watered down and not much flavor. We will stick to the usual next time.

Being Italian I thought I would stop in. January of 2013 was the last time I was there, It was good then. Everything and would have gotten 4-5* if i posted then. I heard (from a rumor) that this place went under "new management" around August. I avoided it until recently. well let me tell you I should have stayed away. Before when I went in I felt like I was with people like me, Italians. I walked in to find that not a single person who worked there before was there now. I couldn't believe the change in everything. the atmosphere was dull, the food bland and to top it off the cannoli that i expected to be the same as before (which was delicious) was now disgusting. I don't know what fallout happened but this place went from a traditional Italian deli that i enjoyed to a overpriced lack of Italian flavor filled crap hole. Im usually nice about this stuff but i couldnt believe what happened. how it went from somewhere so good to garbage. If this place somehow goes under old management I'd say go to it! but as long as this place fakes its Italian culture and have bland food. STAY AWAY.

Just got a Reuben panini and barely any meat and it was barely warm. Usually when someone gets a panini its still hot. I parked all of 10 feet away jumped in the car to take a bite and its cold! It's a shame really wanted it to be good and waited almost 10mins. which made me think it'd be good.

This business is aesthetically pleasing inside and out. I liked that they carry authentic Italian food products for purchase (I.e. pasta, tomato sauce, etc.) the menu seems well laid out and I like that chips come with each sandwich. The first time I ordered a caprese panini. It was pretty bland and nothing special but I always like to try food a couple times from a business. The second time I visited I ordered a sandwich and they told me they didn't have the bread for the sandwich so I ended up ordering a turkey and cheese sub. This also was bland. And I mean BLAND, very little meat. It tasted like bread and turkey. The bread sucked and it was by far the worst sandwich I have ever had in my entire life. Absolutely disgusting. I didn't know anyone could mess up Turkey and cheese until I visited this place. I always like to support local small businesses but I will never be back to this place. Also the menu is right behind 2 front tables, so when your eating, people are standing right in front of you staring at the menu over my head while I was eating. It is mind boggling that anyone would give the food at zanzi's a good review
