Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Pizza here was some of the greasiest I've ever had. Maybe I should have expected it, but I was surprised by the pool of grease that was left on my plate. I got a slice of pepperoni which was GIGANTIC but unfortuntely was not very flavorful. I have also tried the pesto chicken sandwich, and it was decent but nothing special. The service here is very friendly. It's a very casual place and good for lunch except for one thing. Both times I've been to Fratello's there were SO MANY KIDS. It's one thing for a restaurant to be kid-friendly but at this place the kids were literally playing on the floor, pushing toy trucks around and leaving obstacles for customers and servers to step over. It looked more like a kindergarten classroom at playtime than a restaurant. I quite literally was not able to walk to my seat without stepping over kids and toys. I've heard that kids eat free on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This might explain things but is not an excuse to turn a restaurant into a play room. I'd be tempted to go back on a day that's not "kids eat free" to see if there are fewer kids and fewer toys on the floor, but the last two experiences were so bad that I'm not going to give it another try.

STAY AWAY!!! This place is dirty and gave my entire family food poisoning! I had a voucher to use and I we should have left as soon as we saw the dirty kitchen. My husband had the sausage pizza and my 18 month old daughter and I had the grilled chicken salad. We all left feeling disgusting from all the grease, and then to make matters worse we ALL got food poisoning. I know for sure it was from Fratello's because we all had different breakfasts (cereal and oatmeal). Take my advise and stay away!

Family owned business. They truly care about their customers and food. Try the Wally Special. It's delish! The salad with mandarin oranges is amazing too. Oh, did I mention they have beer and wine. AND they Belly. Great little play area for kids and TV's too!

I hate to be mean but I honestly don't think I've ever had such bad pizza in my life. Some positives though are that they are friendly and they have TVs. I still don't think I've ever visit again....

anything with tomato sauce tastes the same...... and their sauce is just awful. My entire family is sick from a stuffed pizza....... the best thing to order if you are stuck going to this place.... get a salad

The food here is barely okay which pains me because I really want to like this place. My kids love the toy section and each of them have chosen their birthday dinner here. I have been able to stomach the pizza and their sausage w/sweet peppers will do. My wife likes the fried chicken. They have a couple of flat screens which helps the experience.

We ordered lunch for 10 people at work from here. I heard from others they thought their food was just "okay" but I had the absolute worst Italian Sausage sandwich ever. The sausage was overcooked and very dry. I also did not get the sweet peppers I requested. They threw approx. one napkin and one ketchup packet per person in a separate bag for us (most people had fries with their order). C'mon. I know times are tight but let's not skimp out your customers to the point of extreme. We were also missing food for 2 people in our group. When we called to say what we were missing and someone was coming over to get it they didn't even apologize for the mixup. The had our order written down correctly but when it was inputed into the register they were not entered so at least we weren't charged for it. But this was a quick half-hour lunch break for an all-day training session so not having our order correct when we picked it up caused us to run over. Do you want to stay later on a Friday because your lunch order was screwed up? No, I don't think so. Especially when the food didn't even get a "good" rating.

We have eaten here several times because they are one of few restaurants with a play area and we have 2 small kids. That said, the food is decent, prices are reasonable, and they have a fairly large menu to pick from. Their vodka sauce is pretty good and their soups are homemade. However none of the food is good enough to make me want to come back, and since I am a very strong 2A supporter, their No Guns policy means I cannot justify eating there, play area or not. If they ever take down the meaningless sticker, I may come back, but everything they serve tastes just as good or better somewhere else.

We will not be back based on their bait and switch techniques to raising guest checks. We dined in and the food was fine. Nothing blew us away but nothing was bad. When we got the check, it was way higher than expected. I asked the server and she told me that they raised their prices about a month ago and the manager has not gotten around to updating the menus. Are you kidding me?!? She then proceeded to say that the menus say "prices are subject to change." That phrase would not phase me if we were referring to carryout menus that can sit around a person's junk drawer for years but the actual menus at the restaurant? Those should be the most accurate. If you have time to update the prices in your computer system, then you have time to update your menus. The kids menus had a turkey coloring page on the back so obviously those were recently printed as last time there was a Halloween picture. The fact that they think it is okay to do this to their customers with a disclaimer is unacceptable. If this was an acceptable way to do business then why would any restaurant change their menu prices ever? Let's just keep the same menu as 1985. It will be okay as long as we put "prices subject to change" on it. NOT. I have never witnessed anything like is before because a savvy business would know that this is not okay. It blows my mind that more people have not said anything but perhaps they don't look at their bills. If this is not fraud, then I do not know what is....but we will not be back.

Thee BEST Pizza in and around Elmhurst - hands down. Friends have lived near here for years but have never gone in. Maybe because it's location seems a bit obscure by the Convenient Store. We had the Aloha Pizza. Deeeeeelish. Tasty. Flavorful. Perfect crust. Much Much Better than Lou Malnati's or Armand's in town. Waitress Kelly was on the ball. We will return for sure. Editing review: if you want a peaceful meal do not I repeat do not come on a Saturday night between 530 and 7:30 PM. This restaurant is family-friendly, there is a little play area for the kids and we parents of today let our kids run wild and scream. Tonight was particularly deafening. It was difficult for our table to have an audible conversation due to two other tables' normal conversation of kid screech. Hope management takes note as the parents don't.

Do Not Order Online.... and hope you don't have a problem b/c the manager won't care! Tried to order pizza tonight and could not get through on the phone (busy signal or the fax machine picked up) so there was an Order Online button and I chose that and put in my order. Our pizza came 1 hour and 20 minutes after we ordered. And they got the pizza order wrong! I called Fratello's and they said it wasn't their problem - the person at ChowNow called the order in wrong and called it in late. Apparently ChowNow manages their online orders. ChowNow gave me ChowNow bucks as a concession. What the heck are ChowNow bucks - I didn't want anything to do with ChowNow - I just wanted some Fratello's pizza. I called back but the Fratello's manager said I have to deal with ChowNow, it was their mistake, not his and he wasn't going to give me any refund - I need to get it from ChowNow. Really - can't give me $10 back for the messed up pizza? Losing a customer over such a small amount - that's a shame. But won't be going back - on-line or in person. As many others have posted here - there are many good pizza and pasta places all over Elmhurst. Customer service could be a differentiator but not with this manager...

After putting in my order at Zenwich I thought I'd check Fratello's for my family's next gathering. Unfortunately my business was turned away at their door. I'll trust my fellow Yelp reviewers and stick to my favorites; Two Brothers and Portillo's.

I only tried this place because of their Living Social deal, and it was pretty meh. I ordered the stuffed spinach pizza, and it was okay. It probably didn't help that I had Giordano's a few days earlier to compare with. I would try the thin crust if I were to go again... definitely not the stuffed. The reason I didn't give them 1 more star was because the owner or some manager was basically having an argument with an employee right in the front of the restaurant - not caring that there were customers there waiting. Go in the back and keep it down if you want to argue with your workers. Finally, this isn't a big deal, but if you say the pizza will be ready in 15 - 20 minutes, 35 minutes is too long. Just tell me 30 - 40 minutes so I don't waste my lunch hour sitting there.

Okay, well I have to say that they either discontinued the kids eating free on Tues and Thurs, or they only do that if you remind them--since we ate there last night and we didn't receive our kids meals free. I didn't feel like harrassing anyone about it, so we just paid and left. My husband had thin crust pizza with pepperoni and mushroom, which was decent......not a heavenly pizza, but decent. I had the chicken pesto sandwich with fries and coleslaw, which was decent as well. I didn't get how it was called pesto, because all they did was slap a bunch of miracle whip with herbs in it on a french roll, and it didn't taste very pesto-ey. But they did have fresh basil and plum tomatoes on it, and it was tasty. Chuck the coleslaw--it's orange and has a funky taste to it.

I recently bought a living social coupon to check this place out. The service was awesome...two young girls with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. However, we ordered the toasted ravioli and a pizza, half mushroom and tomato, the other half sausage and pepperonii. The toasted ravioli had very little taste and the taste it did have was OLD. The pizza also lacked taste. The establishment itself is cute and clean and again the service was great but the food unfortunately sucked. I mean, how can pizza be bad?

I work in the area and eat at Fratello's once or twice a week. Sometimes I get a slice of pizza and a salad. The salads are big and fresh with lots of unique flavor combinations. My favorites though are the chicken parm sandwich and the brisket philly. The brisket is super tender and comes with a delicious flavorful gravy. I love the fries because they are the same krinkle fries as portillos. I like to set the fries out on the plate and let the gravy from the sandwich drip down onto the fries and then mmmm mmmm!

As most people I live a very busy life, but I still like to entertain. This is where Fratello's come in. I ordered from their catering menu and their spinach lasagna and tossed sallad were a big hit. Thanks for helping me stress less about throwing a party. :-) Can't wait to try new items for my next event.

Love the pizza...crispy crust and fresh toppings...you can't go wrong! Its our Elmhurst takeout staple and we order it all the time. Try the Buffalo Wing pizza...hot wings and pizza - awesome!

We recently hosted a birthday party at Pump It Up. They chose Fratello's to cater the party. We had never heard of Fratello's before, but we are super glad that we know now. The pizza was absolutely delicious! Cheese so thick that it pulls the way that it should. Sauce that is sweet and not too abundant. As close to New York style that I have had in quite some time.

I came here with a groupon. Ive had pizza here before and it was good but wanted to try something new. We had lasagna and beer battered cod. AMAZING!! The portions are Huge!! The lasagna tasted unbelievable. Honestly I probably wont have pizza again after tasting the other selections. Doesn't look like much on the outside but the food is great!

I've eaten in this restaurant a couple of times and both times I ordered pasta. Honestly it wasn't great. I'm not saying it was bad, but there are a lot of great pasta restaurants in town. I probably wouldn't have ever come back, but a friend recommended the Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Apparently it won a couple of awards in town. It had a great flavor. No complaints. If you eat here, try this specialty pizza. As of this writing there are ninety-six restaurants in Elmhurst. I plan on eating at, and reviewing, every one. Follow me on Yelp!

Love their Asian Chicken salad. I'm hooked and eat it almost on a weekly basis. Their pizza is good too.

I got a hotdog and fries for lunch and it sucked. The bun was stale, the hotdog was rubbery, and the fries were mediocre, but edible. They overloaded the hotdog with onions and skimped on mustard. The sport peppers were really limp and tasted like they were months old. It's not hard to mess up a hotdog, but Fratello's succeeded. Aside from my meal, a coworker got a pasta dish that included salad...the salad was not in the bag when we got back to the office. He didn't even bother letting them know. We called in an order that was about $50 and asked about a coupon that was listed on their website for $5 off of $20 or more (Mon-Thur). It expired in November 2011, but they still had it up, so we asked about it. They said they wouldn't honor it...not a big deal, but they should keep their site updated. I am not sure how their pizza is, but I definitely will not be going there anytime soon to find out.

I had reviewed this restaurant quite a while ago, and the owner recently responded to my review and apologized for my bad experience and asked if I would try them again; they had really changed over the years. Although my first time there was soooo bad, I'm still an optimist at heart, so I figured I'll give it another chance. I'm certainly glad that I did. I tried a slice of their pizza for lunch. It was an absolutely HUGE slice and came with a medium drink for $5 plus tax. I mean this thing hung out on all sides of the styrofoam clams that they sell it in. It's essentially 1/4 of their 18" pizza, and it was pretty awesome. I'm no stranger to a big ole' slice of pizza, and this one measured right up; it was very filling to the point that I almost wasn't able to finish it, but I pushed through the pain and did it - lol. Although a lot of Chicagoans (and the rest of the world for that matter) think "deep dish" when they think of Chicago style pizza, I think deep dish is only what Chicagoans eat when their friends from out of town come in to visit. When we want a real Chicago pizza, it's thin crust, right? Anyways, Fratello's pizza is exactly what I think Chicago style pizza is and should be; thin, crispy crust, tangy but not too acidic sauce and just enough fennel in the sausage, which is very savory. Other than the lunch special, I've tried the hot dogs (which were ok, I mean, how good can a hot dog really get) and the chicken pesto sandwich, which was pretty darn tasty; chicken and pesto on a french roll, tomatoes, etc... They suggested trying it with dijon mustard, which I did, and it really worked well; I'll definately get that again, as well as the lunch special. The service at the counter still wasn't the best out there, of the few times that I've been back there, I've yet to recieve a smile or anything other than a perfunctory "Hello" from the counter staff. Although they seemed energetic, that energy was directed between themselves and the kitchen staff, not actually at the clientele or the job at hand. Once, I could hardly understand the two girls standing there, they both were standing around eating Tootsie Roll pops and couldn't really speak around the candy. I think that the sugar affected their hearing too, because I had to repeat my order twice and which kind of drink I wanted 4 times before they got it. It wasn't busy, and there were 2 of them (I was the only customer at that time); why didn't they just get it right off the bat? I guess it's hard getting good help still, but c'mon girls, save the candy for during school, like normal kids do - lol. All in all, I'm glad that the owner persuaded me to try them again, I'm definately glad that I did, and I'll be back again for lunch at some point, the value and taste of the pizza definately outweighs the staffing shortfalls. And after all, I went for the food, not the service.
