My job orders from here pretty regularly especially on Saturdays. The food overall is not that great. The service is always really good, but the food is meh. Well we placed an order for pickup. There was a bug in the bag & I think they may have known it because they even called to make sure everything with our order was ok. Needless to say I will never order another thing from here, my coworkers might, but I definitely won't be.

Went for lunch on a weekday. We waited a ridiculous amount of time for our food. Another table that arrived before us walked out, tired of waiting. When our food arrived we had 4 minutes left on our lunch break to scarf down the sub-average offerings. Won't be returning.

Wow the prime rib was so juicy and tender! We were too busy put it into our stomach and forgot to take picture! It was that good!

Have been coming here since we were kids. Great food, never too crazy crowded. Family owned and run. Grecian pork chops are the best!

My Wife and I had dinner there recently and I tried their Breaded Pork Tenderloin Dinner and it was perfect. She enjoyed the Ribeye Steak (as usual) and told me it too was perfect. All in all, I'd say we've had dinner or breakfast there about 8 times and simply have to say the food was great, cooked with care, servers were polite, prompt and attentive... (so much so that I completely over-tipped them). I've got to tell you, contrary to some of the almost unbelievable negative reviews I've read here, we've never had a meal that wasn't cooked to perfection and lacking in any way. You can tell a good restaurant when the little things like the Cole Slaw are made well and taste great. The Family Owners are friendly and want you to enjoy your visit in their establishment. Try it, you may just happen to like it. I suggest you try the 1/2 Pound Patty Melt they make on Marbled Rye Bread... it's great!

I found myself in a position where I had 1.5 hours to kill before I had to be at work one morning, so used my happy Yelp app to locate an open diner in the area. I didn't feel too comfortable with one down the street so headed to Elmhurst Family Restaurant instead. (Besides, anyone who knows me knows I LOVE me a Greek-owned diner.) I ordered one of the special "lighter fare" options at the top of the menu: egg whites with veggies, fruit, and toast. I also got coffee and water to wash it down with. The eggs came omelette style, leading me to wonder what the difference was between this "lighter" special and the vegetarian omelette itself. It was good and HUGE! I had enough to take to work for lunch - tastier than the frozen burrito I brought. The coffee tasted burnt, but I sort of expect crappy coffee at these places. The waitress was very attentive - checking on me often and also chatting up her regulars. My only complaints are that I think I was overcharged (over $10 before tip), or at least prices were different from what was posted on the menu. Also, there was absolutely NO soap in the women's restroom. The pump looked broken and was bone-dry, and there was no replacement. Kind of gross and makes me wonder who's not able to wash their hands!

Food is your typical Greek diner type of food. Terrible service and the food is tasteless and below par. I do not know how this place stays in business in such a nice town as Elmhurst maybe it is the out of town Lake Street location.

This is a great place to eat. The owners are friendly and staff are courteous and know the menu. Order things to what you like and they make it so. They go overboard to make you happy. We go often and never disappointed.

The food was GREAT and the staff is super friendly. While we were vacationing in Elmhurst they gave us great ideas of things to do here. I definitely recommend if your nearby stopping in.

Came here for dinner when I was visiting the area. My tuna melt and baked potato were brought cold, the soup was served Luke warm. when we asked them to remake it they did, but then my tuna melt came back with burnt bread, I'm pretty sure they didn't grill it, just toasted bread and stuck some melted cheese and tuna on it. Boyfriends Caesar salad was decent - well the dressing was really good. it also came with the Kraft Parmesan- not so good! Plus side: big portions, affordable, and the bread they give came with a delicious muffin!

If you're looking for a breakfast/lunch/dinner diner at a good price for good portions, look no further. Being that majority of my visits have been for breakfast, I will review their breakfast experience. I usually stick to the omelettes and skillet w/ coffee, while the lady usually gets french toast and pancakes (and sometimes scrambled eggs) w/ oj. Every meal we have had were in big portions and reasonable prices. Definitely recommend!

I only enjoy this place when it comes to breakfast. I've been here twice for their lunch options and it isn't up to par with their breakfast. The place is never overly crowded and there is never a wait. The front personnel greats you promptly and seats you as quick as possible. The service is alright, nothing spectacular. Sometimes it takes awhile just to even get their attention. *For example, I ordered a breakfast entre and decided to get soup also, but by the time our waitress came back out she was already carrying my entree so I decided to forgo the soup and mind you I decided to get soup only a few minutes after she took my order, but she wasn't around for me to place my soup order. I love their biscuits and gravy. Not heavy and overwhelming, but just how I like it. Their hasbrowns are cooked nice and brown with a bit of crisp to it. Overall, a good Sunday breakfast place.

So breakfast is kinda my thing these days I'm in search of the best neighborhood breakfast joint. Typical "Greek" family establishment fully equipped with outdated 80's decor and pies in the cooler next to the entrance. Service ok, food ok, prices ok.

Mother's Day a group of us (9) went into Elmhurst Restaurant after a breast cancer walk. It was crowded which is normal for Mother's Day. We waited about 20 minutes for a table. Once we got seated we waited another 10 minutes for a waitress to come over. We ordered and waited well over an hour for our food. A few people in the parties order was wrong and they had to send their food back. My food was good and right. The waitress was good. But they were not prepared for the Mother's Day rush. I don't think I would return. The food was not awesome and to many mistakes in the orders.

You've been here before - like de ja vu all over again. This place is the pro forma family restaurant with the standard fare and prices. If you've been to one you've been to them all. I'm not sure if the owners are greek but it has that feel to it. Breakfast, lunch or dinner will be just fine.

A solid 3 1/2 star-joint with your standard breakfast, diner fare and more. Elmhurst Restaurant is along the lines of your standard Greek-owned, old-people-populated "family restaurant" in the suburbs. They do serve alcohol; I was amusedly looking over the liquor sitting behind the cash register while we paid. For dinner, the place is usually pretty quiet; it's busier for weekend brunch. The menu has some interesting variations on it; the standards (burgers, gyro, soup, salad, chicken dinners, chop steak and pork loin, etc.) but with some more ethnic variations (oooh, chipotles) ... hey, I give them credit for trying to branch out a bit. Their breakfast is probably better than their dinners, but it's not bad food at all. Service is also good if not outstanding. I've enjoyed their "chilaquiles" (ok, they're good, but they're not real chilaquiles), a delightful turkey melt, and other entrees. My husband, god bless his meat-loving heart, enjoys what we like to call a kosher nightmare -- the Frankencheese, a hot dog stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon. ("This could only be worse with lobster on top," he said.) Their french onion soup is quite good -- the crostini with a little pile of parmesan was an interesting change from the usual half-inch thick melted cheese. The fries are very tasty, thin but not shoestring, with a nice crispy exterior reminiscent of Burger King's, only WAY better. All in all, a filling meal for a low price and with good service. While it's nothing spectacular, if you want a good old cheap dinery meal, I would recommend Elmhurst Restaurant.

Have gone to this place several times but I think today was the last. Don't know if they have new management or if they have just gotten lazy and don't care anymore. Service was minimal, never went out of the way to fill drinks, take away dirty dishes or anything else. Food was mediocre at best. Portions are also smaller than they used to be. If you are trying to cut cost, you are not going about it the right way as you will lose customers.

Nice family type restaurant.
