    This is your standard family restaurant. The hostess (I think owner) is very friendly. They serve breakfast all day and have some of the biggest omelets I've ever seen. The soups of the day are tasty and you can get a sandwich with fries/coleslaw and bowl of soup for a decent price. It's a great place for lunch as they get you in and out in time to get back to work. I usually go for lunch every couple of weeks.

    This place is a nice diner with a very nice wait staff. I had the chicken and rice soup which was good and had the open face turkey dinner which wasn't the best I ever had but it was good, especially since I had been craving this.

    Like Ritzy's on Algonquin Rd, this place looks like it catered to the senior citizen's crowd. But we never let that stop us. If anything, prices would be cheaper, right? We've been there twice for lunch, and the clientele runs the gamut from young 'uns like us to business crowd to families and yes, to seniors. Get the soups even if you aren't full. The split pea soup is hearty, and my husband likes the cream of chicken as well. Their portions are huge. We've not been disappointed in too many dishes. Recommended: Reuben; gyros (sliced really thin and oh, so crispy); split pea soup. Their hash brown is the bomb! Extra golden crispy on the inside, flavorful and tender on the inside. The wait staff is extremely attentive, too.

    I've been here a couple of times for breakfast and it was good. It came fast and was hot. Had a patty melt for lunch once and it was fine. My experience for dinner has been a little different. Once I had the breaded veal cutlet and the breeding was so hard it was difficult to cut. Another time I had shrimp de Jonge and I don't think I would ever order it again there. The shrimp was so over cooked they were like rubber. Not good. I'll try them again for dinner but three strikes and it's bye bye.

    i must be honest,i discovered this restaurant about 15 yrs. ago and since then i have been hooked on this place. they have some of the best soups than any other restaurant that i've been to,The staff Chris,Alex and the wonderful hostess Maria, greets you very nice as you walk in.Their prices are very reasonable and the food is tops and their busboys are clean and fast. i make an effort to go here 1 to 3 times weekly.     Good ol Rose Garden. Better than a lot of Greek Diners I've been to. We would come here often when my dad lived in Elk Grove. The cream of chicken soup is great. They always have a big bread basket. The staff is friendly and it's usually quick and efficient. I've never had bad food from here but again it's not anything amazing. Come here if you're looking for a hot homestyle cooked meal.

    I love cozy family run restaurants such as Rose Garden Cafe. I could tell a lot of regulars come here because many of the waitresses stop to make conversations about specific topics or already know what the diner will order before they even speak. I ordered a cup of cream of mushroom soup and an egg white omelet. My husband had a breakfast special (2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 pieces of toast). My omelet was huge and I literally had it for breakfast, lunch and dinner the following day. The cream of mushroom soup was clearly home made and quite filling. We noticed the prices for dinner are very reasonable hope to return soon!

    I had breakfast here yesterday and it was horrible. The french toast was barely hot, had no powdered sugar on it and seemed like it had been sitting around for a while. I also had scrambled eggs with cheeese which consisted of a piece of cheese on top of the eggs not mixed in and barely melted.

    One of the most delicious skirt steak sandwiches I ever had I'm still drooling. The only bad thing I could eat another one Right away!!!! My wife ordered the bacon cheddar burger She said it was fabulous. They cook it over charcoal just like at home for a juicy homemade taste. The French fries have a secret coating to give you a wonderful crunchy and flavorfull taste. The soup is homemade just super, and they cook fresh whole turkeys Dailey. I guess I may have to move closer to them. I rather eat here than at home Enjoy.

    Stopped by after a long day, with my sister and I craving breakfast even though it was 3 in the afternoon. Very happy! A menu that includes everything!!!! Breaksfast, lunch dinner, specials, ice cream creations and a case of yummy looking desserts! We both ordered eggs and bacon. A great looking basket of bread arrived but we did not sample as my sister is on a low-salt diet and I need gluten-free. However, I almost moaned with delight as I ate the crispy hashbrowns that arrived quickly with our orders. Perfectly cooked eggs. Crisp bacon. My sister having rye toast. A caddy of jellies arrived with her toast. Attentive waiter. I could not ask for a better meal.

    Contrary to Annette P's comment as to their service etc I definitely have to disagree with her. I did my party there and they were nothing but accommodating for what I needed and wanted for my party. You definitely do get what you pay for. However, if you are cheap as my guess Annette was and expect things for free when you hardly pay anything for the entire party at all you probably won't get much unless you specify it. And I never had a problem w/ the owners. My guess is, is that Annette you're prob neither the classiest nor the most well mannered yourself so treat others as you want to be treated. :)

    Good Italian American cuisine. Food was plentiful and fairly tasty. I had the tilapia which had good sauce, good fish and a whole lotta peas. Overall, for first dates or family get-togethers, this is where its at.

    My girl friend and I came here around 11AM on a Sunday and were seated right away off to the room on the right when you first walk in. Neither of us had ever been here. Right off, I feel like the coffee could've come a little quicker. That's just what I'm used to over at the Egg Basket on Barrington Rd, but after awhile, our server came. I ordered my staple breakfast of 2 eggs over easy with sausage and hash browns and went with the pancakes instead of toast. My friend got one of those skillet-cheezy-platters. Food was definitely excellent! Sausage - awesome! It was definitely on par with what I usually get at Egg Basket (which is closer to where I live). Coffee was getting low and I was a little worried I'd have to flag down our waitress, but she came just in the knick of time. A private party began in the room we were sitting in and I think after awhile, our waitress forgot that we were in there. So, we had to go to the cashier without our bill bcuz we'd been waiting and waiting, but then again, we were in no hurry to leave and who really wants to demand a bill where you have to pay money! ha ha! But, no, the front desk woman was very kind and apologetic for our wait on the bill. I would definitely come back here again when I'm in the area, but I live closer to Barrington Road, so most likely won't be back soon, unless I am with my friend again who lives in EGV! =)

    Something here for everyone. My family and extended family comes here every week for dinner, and they are so nice and good about accommodating all of us (10+ every time). The servings are large so you have lunch the next day :)

    Pure diner type American food place owned by classic Greek restaurant owners making good affordable hot food fast. I've been coming to Rose Garden about once a month for years with my Dad (in his 60's) for breakfast or lunch on Saturdays. Always busy, but never a a wait for a table - Rose Garden is one of those solid dependable places to get a variety of classic American Fare: Superior Egg breakfasts including gigantic Omelets. Try the spinich & Feta it's great! Wonderful and huge turkey club sandwiches and great crunchy fries. Like the other review said; cream of anything soup here is awesome. Just add a little pepper (remember they cater to folks my Dad's age) and a dash o'salt and dip that garlic bread (that come iun the bread basket!) in there and you'll be a happy camper. Walk off your wonderful meal by visiting Elk Grove Village's Elk preserve which is located across the street from Rose Garden.

    Classic "Greek-style" coffee shop. Lots of food. Tremendous variety. Comfortable seating; they never rush you, even on busy busy Sunday mornings. Fair pricing - I'd even say low prices, considering you'll probably take a doggie bag home. Family restaurant for sure. Bring the kids AND the grandparents and go home with change in your pocket!

    We have eaten at the Rose Garden on numerous occasions during the last few months and have never been disappointed. The staff is particularly pleasant and the food is very good. The baby back ribs are outstanding. They are open to custom orders and have baked sweet potatoes available some days. The soup is always homemade and available for purchase by the quart. For a family style restaurant, you will not be disappointed. It's one of those places with a huge menu selection. Have a beer and enjoy!

    I would have given this place 4.5 stars if it weren't for the fact that the servers are anything but friendly! I went in with a friend and brought my two sons along. When we sat down I looked over and heard a server say "I don't care how cute they are. I hate kids!" And the entire time we were there she would roll her eyes every time she walked past us. Our server had absolutly zero personality. She never once cracked a smile. We were sitting at a table right by the kitchen entrance. And also right in front of the bathroom. An odd place for a table. The food was very good. I got the creamy chicken and rice soup. Delicious!! I would have loved to make this place a regular choice for my family but due to the cold and unwelcoming atmosphere I don't think I will be returning.

    RGC is a long time personal favorite. Their cream of chicken rice soup is without equal in the area and they serve some of the best pancakes I've ever eaten. Staff is friendly and the menu is more than reasonably priced. They do pick up a lot during the lunch hour, even on weekdays, and Sunday mornings can get very busy, so be aware of your timing when heading over. They are quick to accommodate large groups without an issue.

    Poor experience here two weeks go. I went out to lunch with coworkers, and had ordered online 15 minutes beforehand. The waitress was older, and extremely rude about the fact I had an order waiting already. The salad was decent, but she forgot my dressing and I had to ask the waitress who begrudgingly got it for me. The bread as stale and hard. This waitress never refilled our waters.the check out is one by one at a csh register in front fo the door-slow, in the way system. I have no desire to return.

    We went here recently for dinner and had some great food. The Rose Garden represents the upper end of the Greek restaurant scale. I had the Angus beef stroganoff which was the best I've ever had. The beef was tender enough to cut with just a fork, and bursting with flavor. Huge portions I might add too. My dining companions had a variety of things ranging from salads to sandwiches. The salads were huge and beautiful. The bread basket also had garlic bread in it which was awesome, they even brought us more when we asked. The cream of chicken rice soup was fantastic. To top it all of the service was great too. It really was a great dining experience.

    What a great place to eat! Warm atmosphere, quiet dining area, great food, polite and friendly staff... I will totally be back! I came here this past week to catch a quick bite with family. We all ordered breakfast food, and I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered, drinks were served, and then the most shocking thing of all... A bread basket. Yes, folks, they are masters in the lost art of the bread basket. I used to love when a restaurant would bring that basket over, with the little packets of butter, and you could enjoy some tasty bread before your meal. I have suffered greatly with the disappearance of the bread basket. Thank you, Rose Garden Cafe, for renewing my faith in dining! Anyway, I ordered the ham and cheese omelet, and let me just say... It. Was. Amazing. I was totally put off of omelets thanks to IHOP and their nasty tasting eggs, but this was very tasty. Lots of ham in there, not too much cheese, and it was served with hash browns on the side and two pancakes. I was so full after the omelet and hash browns, I couldn't even touch my pancakes, but they went home in the typical styrofoam carrying case to nom on later. The waitress was polite, not too chatty, but not rude. The service was fast, too! We had our food in record time, and it was the perfect temperature. This place is a little out of my way, but I will definitely try to make my way back here soon!

    My quick tip was quick and to the point...it's ok, but their menu items are a step back from better restaurants like Christies on Irving Park. I've been here probably 300 times over the last 30 years...when it was the 7-Stars; but now that I've taken the blinders off I'm starting to enjoy so many other similar restaurants. Their Veal Park was pretty much all I knew from "standard" restaurants; but it's really only, ok. Sorry, but with age (44) comes experience. So-so for the Garden.

    1st time I've written a review here but have been here for breakfast, lunch or dinner more times then I could ever remember. Whenever we're back in Chicago it's a given that if at all possible that it must include a stop at the Rose Garden. The warm and friendly owners and staff, always consistently great and always what I expect. Many of the staff have been there for years contributing to this no doubt. They also have a party room for events and meetings up to about a 100-150 guests. My wife and I actually had our wedding and reception here. Food and plated service for our guests was smooth, well coordinated, and delicious. Rose Garden is a winner!

    They certainly give you a LOT of food. And the menu is enormous. Very hard to choose. I don't really like the one free refill policy. That's a little stingy. I've had really good sandwiches/gyros here and also mediocre steak and potatoes. Always go with sandwiches and soup in my opinion.     Have been going here for a few years with my fiance. Huge portions, great service and flavored creamer. Yes, not just the usual half and half..I'm talking Irish creme and french vanilla. That's what brings me back. .amongst other things, especially the cream of chicken soup. I think they beat Big Top...and that is a show stopper. Not to mention the bread basket that has crackers and bread sticks galore...andddd Texas toast..fabulous.

    I'm writing this a little upset, so that may reflect in the review. When I walked in the lobby area there was a sign that said Friday night all you can eat fish fry. Waitress came to the table and I pointed at a sign that said tilapia fish fry. I'll have that I said. two pieces of fish arrive on a plate. It was very tasty, but I was still hungry. I asked if I could get just one more piece, no need to overdo it. This isn't the all you can eat fish she said. That is the cod. I double-checked on the way out. Nowhere does it specify a difference or say that the all you can eat is only cod. Everything else was great and this place would probably get 4 stars if the fish meal would have been explained.

    I ordered a chopped steak. Received my order and they gave me a hamburger patty. Asked for manager and he was very defensive and insisted it was a chopped steak. Anyone can tell the difference between a hamburger pattie and a chopped steak. I lost my appetite on his rudeness and they had to the nerve to charge me for what I ate. POOR management! My friends chicken breast was dry and didn't enjoy it.

    The hubby and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Rose Garden Cafe! We only come here for breakfast and its amazing every time! We recently went this weekend, and I swear they doubled our food portion...which was fine by us! Their breakfast prices are great for the portions you get! I always take home leftovers, which is enough for me and sometimes the hubby to eat the next day! I usually order the feta and spinach omelet (which is delish), but this last time I ordered the Portabella, Cheddar and Onion Omelet (which was the size of my head), and it was so yummy!!! It came with hash browns and pancakes! So good! My husband ordered the two eggs with bacon, toast and hashbrown...he somehow got double the bacon he ordered, which was okay with him! (He has a rule: LNBB (leave no bacon behind), so there were no leftovers from his plate! The service has always been good for us, and it seems like a genuinely nice, family owned restaurant. There is plenty of parking as well! If you want a good, inexpensive breakfast (under $20 for two people), then I would defiantely check out the Rose Garden Cafe!!!

I opted out of the coleslaw. The fries were cold and the croissant tasted days old. For a $10 lunch I expected more. I could have gone to Jersey Mike's and spent less. I did see that they have kids eat free on Sundays for dinner after 3pm though. I'll be back as I love their soups I just think they are expensive for lunch and I wasn't impressed. I'm so longing for a good family restaurant or some new in Elk Grove Village. Sigh...

    I've been by here many times while I would go to Tensuke market. The place always seemed to be busy but I never bothered. I went here for breakfast and it was really good. There isn't the mega selection of items on the menu, but it is still quite vast. I had the bacon and cheese omelette and they gave me the option of cheese (America, Cheddar, Mozzarella). I had mine made with egg whites and it was quite large. There were plenty of hash browns and they gave the pancakes on the side. My friend had the corned beef hash with eggs over easy and really enjoyed it as well. Along with our cups of coffee, it barely reached $20. The service was stellar as the coffee was constantly refilled and our orders were taken in a timely manner and check brought out toward the end. They also have a basement for a banquet room and they have an elevator so anyone can go there. There's plenty of parking on the side or in front, so I'll definitely come back for another meal!

    Server was not friendly at all. Felt rushed during order process and felt I was a bother if I asked her for anything "extra". Had an issue with one of our meals, was never apologized to. Sever seemed apprehensive to even take the meal back. I got dessert with mine. Paid the extra $1 to get a slice of Caramel Pumpkin Cheesecake. It caught my eye as soon as we walked in the door. The piece of pie I got was old and dried out. The caramel wasn't even a caramel consistency, it was dried and crusty. When we went to pay, I showed the cashier the slice and she offered to swap it out. Tall, thin middle aged woman with long dark wavy hair who usually runs the register refused to swap out the pie and bc the newer one had yet to be served. I old her the slice I got was old and crusty yet she still refused to swap it out. I told her to keep her extra $$ I paid for the upgrade and that I would NEVER be returning. Horrible Experience!!!! Never again!!!!

    Started going there about 15 years ago. Food was typical for a Greek-American establishment in the Chicago area. But the last 2 or 3 times we have gone there in the last year, the quality has diminished somewhat. VERY noisy most of the time.

    Walked in here for breakfast with my 3 year old last Sunday. We got seated right away but the server seem like she was too busy and had to wait for 15 minutes before she greeted us just to let us know that she wasn't ready to take our order. The meat lovers skillet I ordered said on the menu that it came with cheese but what i ended up getting was mostly cheese and it was pretty horrible. Not only did it have too much cheese but also the cook had inserted the core of an onion in the skillet. I pointed this out to the server and she said she would mention it to the manager. Well after leaving my skillet uneaten due to the core of onions it had and all the nasty cheese I approached the manager and she said that I am supposed to eat the core and that everyone loves cheese. She told me that she had been in the business 16 years as the owners and that she did not care if I did not return since she has plenty of people that do. She also threatened me to call the cops if i did not leave because the restaurant was busy and she did not have time for me. This is the worst dining experience i have ever had. Needless to say i will never go back!

    I'm not quite sure what to think of this place to be honest. FOOD: Decent food. Portions are extremely generous and generously priced as well. Although nothing out of the ordinary, its not bad food either. Menu is LARGE, they had everything from Italian to Greek to American comfort foods. This made it confusing what to order since I didn't know what would have been their 'specialty'. I ordered baked chicken and the rest of my party ordered various things which I took a few bites out of. They might have been all homemade but they didn't taste homemade from scratch. It was all very 'satisfactory' to the point where I feel like you could get the same flavors from a pouch or can. SERVICE: Really good service. Friendly and speedy. Our waiter remembered everything by heart... extremely impressive for our party of 10! He even went out of his way to make sure we had a specific flavor of creamer for our coffees. ATMOSPHERE: This was rather confusing too. I couldn't figure out if I was at Grandma's house or in an Italian home or what. Probably didn't help with the Halloween decorations. Although I do give them props for being festive for Holidays. Slightly stuffy feeling inside but it was okay. OVERALL: Almost felt like this place needed to be on Restaurant Impossible on Food Network or something which is why I am a little bit indecisive about this place.

    Pretty standard diner-type place here. Their menu is gigantic and the prices have always been pretty reasonable considering the He-Man sized portions you get. The omelets are delicious and huge and my favorite ingredient is the feta (I believe they use imported feta only). It's pretty typical in every other aspect: busy on weekends, fast service, average coffee. Ask for the bacon crispy otherwise it'll come out all flippy-floppy which is no bueno for me.

I had mine made with egg whites and it was quite large. There were plenty of hash browns and they gave the pancakes on the side. My friend had the corned beef hash with eggs over easy and really enjoyed it as well. Along with our cups of coffee, it barely reached $20. The service was stellar as the coffee was constantly refilled and our orders were taken in a timely manner and check brought out toward the end. They also have a basement for a banquet room and they have an elevator so anyone can go there. There's plenty of parking on the side or in front, so I'll definitely come back for another meal!

    Server was not friendly at all. Felt rushed during order process and felt I was a bother if I asked her for anything "extra". Had an issue with one of our meals, was never apologized to. Sever seemed apprehensive to even take the meal back. I got dessert with mine. Paid the extra $1 to get a slice of Caramel Pumpkin Cheesecake. It caught my eye as soon as we walked in the door. The piece of pie I got was old and dried out. The caramel wasn't even a caramel consistency, it was dried and crusty. When we went to pay, I showed the cashier the slice and she offered to swap it out. Tall, thin middle aged woman with long dark wavy hair who usually runs the register refused to swap out the pie and bc the newer one had yet to be served. I old her the slice I got was old and crusty yet she still refused to swap it out. I told her to keep her extra $$ I paid for the upgrade and that I would NEVER be returning. Horrible Experience!!!! Never again!!!!

The portions are mammoth, and if you are here with the kiddies, you can serve their little pancake appetites with your sides alone. The skillets could use a little more seasoning, but that is the only real complaint we had at our table for five. The coffee and the morning love from the great wait staff kept coming, and so did the customers on a busy Sunday morning. This is a great family place that will serve you up a breakfast to last you all day.

They offered us a seat in the basement where they have a small banquet area. Very nice of them to do and it was /so/ much cooler down there. The service was okay, I don't think the staff was crazy about walking up and down the stairs so much. I had Grecian Pork chops which were tender and taste okay, though I have had better Grecian flavor other restaurants. My wife had the a chop steak with grilled onions. It wasn't bad, but there was not a lot of seasoning in the meat. She says the outside was pretty good. My son had the fish fry. The batter was so-so, though the fish inside tasted pretty good. My younger son ate kids ravioli which he really didn't care for much at all. He did eat all his shrimp bisque soup and bread before, so perhaps he just wasn't that hungry any longer. All and all, a decent place, we will be back to try new things out and perhaps find a new place to frequent. The cost of the food was around $13 bucks a meal for al'acarte, add a buck or two for a full dinner.

Everything is just kind of alright. The bread service is nice but nothing special. The soups and salads are fine, but nothing you'll rave to your friends about. If you're in Elk Grove Village and you want to sit down and have a decent meal in a nice atmosphere this would be the place to go.

    Been here a couple times. Most recently for Thanksgiving. My family met here without us one holiday last year, spur-of-the-moment thing, and really liked it. My wife and I came to check it out a couple weeks back and had great service. Today, not so much. Everyone can have an off day. But it was more than that. First, the good news: food was very good for this sort of place. But t was evident early on that our waitress was perturbed and short on patience. She just gave off a bad vibe. Immediately we all felt like we were walking on eggshells with her. She was terse in her demeanor and made us all edgy. She rushed us to order, about 10 mins after we arrived, and we went with it. Salads and soup came out, but they'd seated us too close to the table behind. She broke cardinal rules #1 and #2 of good waiting by first asking who ordered what, and then handing us plates and asking us to pass food around. Again, we went with it. So out come our meals a short while later. We really didn't want to be rushed, but the serving pace was like diner speed. OK. Again, we took a "let's get thru this" attitude. Here's where things take yet another turn. Two of us ordered NY strips. I ordered mine charred. Well the waitress wasn't keeping track of the orders, she was just CLEARLY disinterested in the bothersome details. She was still asking "OK, so who ordered this, who ordered that... So she gave my steak to the other person who ordered a strip. Of course, I didn't know I was going to get the wrong order until she handed me a plate (YES, she's still passing around plates, only this time they're dinner plates - I nearly dumped a plate of hot juices on my lap). The mix-up (due to her indifference, not honest error) quickly became apparent. I sent my steak back and waited about 10 mins to get it back. The check came so fast, we barely had an hour at our table. The final insult was when the waitress told me "oh no hurry, I'm not rushing you" BUT THEY WERE STRIPPING THE TABLE AS WE SAT THERE! Taking all the plates, silverware, etc. That's a good tipoff that they want you out. Awful. Lastly,as if that's not enough, my cousin and her husband had stopped by during dinner just to say hello on their way to their own engagement. They sat for a minute at an empty booth next to the bus station with my sister in law, and the BUS BOY (I kid you not, the friggin' BUS BOY) gave them real attitude about it. He was grabbing things off that table, glaring at them. It's not even like HE was sitting there. He wasn't. He was just, well, being a jerk. I don't think we'd give Rose Garden another shot. I CERTAINLY would never go for another holiday. I'll go back to the other restaurants we like, where we can sit for a while without being given the bum's rush out the door or made to feel like you're at the counter at Mel's Diner. They added a $25 tip. I would have left it be, but my brother from out of town wanted to give her more. He hadn't been paying attention to all that was happening. Later when we clued him in he regretted the extra $15. So our waitress got $40 for a little more than an hour of some of the most aloof, coarse service I've had at a rstrt in a long time. Late in the meal her attitude improved, she seemed a little more congenial, but it was too late as far as I am concerned.

I had breakfast and it was brought to the table super fast and we were super happy! I'm not out in these parts too often, but it's nice to know I have another place I can add to the list when I want to meet my parents (who are from the burbs) for breakfast!

    1st time I've written a review here but have been here for breakfast, lunch or dinner more times then I could ever remember. Whenever we're back in Chicago it's a given that if at all possible that it must include a stop at the Rose Garden. The warm and friendly owners and staff, always consistently great and always what I expect. Many of the staff have been there for years contributing to this no doubt. They also have a party room for events and meetings up to about a 100-150 guests. My wife and I actually had our wedding and reception here. Food and plated service for our guests was smooth, well coordinated, and delicious. Rose Garden is a winner!

    Have been going here for a few years with my fiance. Huge portions, great service and flavored creamer. Yes, not just the usual half and half..I'm talking Irish creme and french vanilla. That's what brings me back. .amongst other things, especially the cream of chicken soup. I think they beat Big Top...and that is a show stopper. Not to mention the bread basket that has crackers and bread sticks galore...andddd Texas toast..fabulous.

    I am only well versed in their Mediterranean salad w/gyro. They have a really good mediterranean dressing, choice of creamy or vinaigrette. I usually get both. Gyro meat comes with sauce as well. I feel like the salad portion looks big, but it's a lot of lettuce, I would like a little more topping and a little more gyro meat. If it wasn't for the dressing, I would probably try something else. A definite pro is a bread basket. Garlic bread, rolls, breadsticks. Holla. Everyone at the table always seems to like their food, ranges from skirt steaks to fish, and we're all choosy eaters. The servers and hostesses are very nice. I will be back because it's a convenient location and tasty.

And a coffee pot on the table ... that's worth a star alone!! Our waitress was a joy, very attentive and enthusiastic. I haven't been here in years, I'd eaten there dozens of times when I worked nearby and kind of forgot about it. Extensive menu made it easy to find something and the cream of chicken soup was very nice !! Nice to have rediscovered it. Only disappointment, I wish they had wi-fi since I often enjoy lunching out and taking care of some correspondences.

    Grabbed a quick dinner last night at the Rose Garden Cafe. It looks like a family run business with the family working here. The menu here is HUGE, it took me a few minutes to look over it all. There's something for everyone. I ended up sharing the gyros platter with my dad. The prices here are extremely reasonable. For $10, we were able to have enough for two people. We were too full for dessert, but for an additional $2, we could have had dessert. Service was excellent as well, which is why most people here seem to be regulars! Good for: cheap eats, Greek diner

    I would have given this place 4.5 stars if it weren't for the fact that the servers are anything but friendly! I went in with a friend and brought my two sons along. When we sat down I looked over and heard a server say "I don't care how cute they are. I hate kids!" And the entire time we were there she would roll her eyes every time she walked past us. Our server had absolutly zero personality. She never once cracked a smile. We were sitting at a table right by the kitchen entrance. And also right in front of the bathroom. An odd place for a table. The food was very good. I got the creamy chicken and rice soup. Delicious!! I would have loved to make this place a regular choice for my family but due to the cold and unwelcoming atmosphere I don't think I will be returning.

    RGC is a long time personal favorite. Their cream of chicken rice soup is without equal in the area and they serve some of the best pancakes I've ever eaten. Staff is friendly and the menu is more than reasonably priced. They do pick up a lot during the lunch hour, even on weekdays, and Sunday mornings can get very busy, so be aware of your timing when heading over. They are quick to accommodate large groups without an issue.

    Poor experience here two weeks go. I went out to lunch with coworkers, and had ordered online 15 minutes beforehand. The waitress was older, and extremely rude about the fact I had an order waiting already. The salad was decent, but she forgot my dressing and I had to ask the waitress who begrudgingly got it for me. The bread as stale and hard. This waitress never refilled our waters.the check out is one by one at a csh register in front fo the door-slow, in the way system. I have no desire to return.

    So, I took my hunk of a boyfriend out to eat on a Saturday night, my treat. I did not want to go to any expensive or pretentious restaurants. I had the feeling for a comfy, hearty, family restaurant. We live about 5-10 mins away from this restaurant and I thought it would be well suited. Me and my boyfriend ordered the same entree. A Tuna and Avocado Melt. They were going to give it to us on an English Muffin. We requested ya know, the bread to be on grilled sourdough. When it came out, they toasted white bread instead. Also, I substituted the fries for the vegetables. When my plate came out, there was a corn on the cob on the plate. Since when does this constitute in anyone's mind, a vegetable? The waitress said, is corn ok? While not giving a shit at all if it was or not. It was packed for a Saturday night, so I get it that it was busy. Our waitress could have cared less about us, rushing through us and our order, as if she had to run to the bathroom. Oh, yeah, and we never got refills on water. She took 1 nano-second to ask us again if everything was ok? She did it so fast that she didn't even give my boyfriend a chance to respond. Then, phew....she was outta there. What was good though was in the breadbasket, they did give you two warm garlic bread slices. ps...The waitress was a biotch and how dare the cooks do that to us. Who gives you white bread? Only time is toast with breakfast. What, are we in a truck stop?

Kitchen must have been thrown off by our breakfast order, but one scrambled eggs were undercooked, same for omelette - had to ask for coffee refills Not likely to return - too bad used to be a favorite

    On our adventure to see the Elk Grove Village elk, we stopped here for a quick lunch. I liked that they play Sinatra. Can't beat that with a big stick. The décor is rather odd. There are lots of statues, figurines and pictures of pudgy chefs in the tall chef hats. Well, it is a restaurant, so ok, I guess. The food was ok, but nothing special. I had the soup and 1/2 sandwich combo. The soup was shrimp bisque. It was very thick. I added a bit of cream to try and thin it out. The tuna sandwich was ok, but I felt the tuna needed a tad more mayo to tone it down a little. Christopher had a patty melt with chicken noodle soup. The soup was good and the sandwich was large. He said the flavor was ok. The women's bathroom was a hoot and a half. It is a large, single stall bathroom, and the entry to the stall is framed by huge gold and white columns. Talk about a throne room ....... I wasn't overwhelmed by Rose Garden Café, but not for any specific reason. It isn't bad, but I doubt we will ever be back again. If one lives in the area however, it might be interesting to try the breakfast menu.

I am a server myself and I think nikki is a phenomenal waitress. I would give her five stars alone!

    Walked in here for breakfast with my 3 year old last Sunday. We got seated right away but the server seem like she was too busy and had to wait for 15 minutes before she greeted us just to let us know that she wasn't ready to take our order. The meat lovers skillet I ordered said on the menu that it came with cheese but what i ended up getting was mostly cheese and it was pretty horrible. Not only did it have too much cheese but also the cook had inserted the core of an onion in the skillet. I pointed this out to the server and she said she would mention it to the manager. Well after leaving my skillet uneaten due to the core of onions it had and all the nasty cheese I approached the manager and she said that I am supposed to eat the core and that everyone loves cheese. She told me that she had been in the business 16 years as the owners and that she did not care if I did not return since she has plenty of people that do. She also threatened me to call the cops if i did not leave because the restaurant was busy and she did not have time for me. This is the worst dining experience i have ever had. Needless to say i will never go back!

    I'm not quite sure what to think of this place to be honest. FOOD: Decent food. Portions are extremely generous and generously priced as well. Although nothing out of the ordinary, its not bad food either. Menu is LARGE, they had everything from Italian to Greek to American comfort foods. This made it confusing what to order since I didn't know what would have been their 'specialty'. I ordered baked chicken and the rest of my party ordered various things which I took a few bites out of. They might have been all homemade but they didn't taste homemade from scratch. It was all very 'satisfactory' to the point where I feel like you could get the same flavors from a pouch or can. SERVICE: Really good service. Friendly and speedy. Our waiter remembered everything by heart... extremely impressive for our party of 10! He even went out of his way to make sure we had a specific flavor of creamer for our coffees. ATMOSPHERE: This was rather confusing too. I couldn't figure out if I was at Grandma's house or in an Italian home or what. Probably didn't help with the Halloween decorations. Although I do give them props for being festive for Holidays. Slightly stuffy feeling inside but it was okay. OVERALL: Almost felt like this place needed to be on Restaurant Impossible on Food Network or something which is why I am a little bit indecisive about this place.

    Pretty standard diner-type place here. Their menu is gigantic and the prices have always been pretty reasonable considering the He-Man sized portions you get. The omelets are delicious and huge and my favorite ingredient is the feta (I believe they use imported feta only). It's pretty typical in every other aspect: busy on weekends, fast service, average coffee. Ask for the bacon crispy otherwise it'll come out all flippy-floppy which is no bueno for me.

    Nice atmosphere, we came a little late but they were nothing but happy to seat and serve us. Just my girlfriend and I she went for breakfast that was a Denver Omelet the size of the plate. I went for dinner with the Reuben. Very tasty. Cheddar soup was OK. Nothing to write home about. I was wishing for the chicken rice. All and all not bad. The waiter we had was super efficient and not overbearing. Tasty. We will go back again. Nice menu selection too.

    So, I took my hunk of a boyfriend out to eat on a Saturday night, my treat. I did not want to go to any expensive or pretentious restaurants. I had the feeling for a comfy, hearty, family restaurant. We live about 5-10 mins away from this restaurant and I thought it would be well suited. Me and my boyfriend ordered the same entree. A Tuna and Avocado Melt. They were going to give it to us on an English Muffin. We requested ya know, the bread to be on grilled sourdough. When it came out, they toasted white bread instead. Also, I substituted the fries for the vegetables. When my plate came out, there was a corn on the cob on the plate. Since when does this constitute in anyone's mind, a vegetable? The waitress said, is corn ok? While not giving a shit at all if it was or not. It was packed for a Saturday night, so I get it that it was busy. Our waitress could have cared less about us, rushing through us and our order, as if she had to run to the bathroom. Oh, yeah, and we never got refills on water. She took 1 nano-second to ask us again if everything was ok? She did it so fast that she didn't even give my boyfriend a chance to respond. Then, phew....she was outta there. What was good though was in the breadbasket, they did give you two warm garlic bread slices. ps...The waitress was a biotch and how dare the cooks do that to us. Who gives you white bread? Only time is toast with breakfast. What, are we in a truck stop?

    Even though I now live up near the WI border I still have friends bring me food from the Rose Garden Café when they come up to visit me. Whenever I am in the area I stop by and grab a meal. Soups are always delicious and are the gold standard by which I judge a restaurant. So far I'm still searching for one up here in Lake County that comes close. They make a great turkey club too, one of my other favorites. Portions are huge, Menu is very large, they have great daily specials and always at least two delicious soups to choose from. After hundreds of dining experiences here I can say that I have rarely had a meal I didn't thoroughly enjoy. In fact I have a family member bringing me home some soup and a turkey club tonight.     One of the most delicious skirt steak sandwiches I ever had I'm still drooling. The only bad thing I could eat another one Right away!!!! My wife ordered the bacon cheddar burger She said it was fabulous. They cook it over charcoal just like at home for a juicy homemade taste. The French fries have a secret coating to give you a wonderful crunchy and flavorfull taste. The soup is homemade just super, and they cook fresh whole turkeys Dailey. I guess I may have to move closer to them. I rather eat here than at home Enjoy.

    Stopped by after a long day, with my sister and I craving breakfast even though it was 3 in the afternoon. Very happy! A menu that includes everything!!!! Breaksfast, lunch dinner, specials, ice cream creations and a case of yummy looking desserts! We both ordered eggs and bacon. A great looking basket of bread arrived but we did not sample as my sister is on a low-salt diet and I need gluten-free. However, I almost moaned with delight as I ate the crispy hashbrowns that arrived quickly with our orders. Perfectly cooked eggs. Crisp bacon. My sister having rye toast. A caddy of jellies arrived with her toast. Attentive waiter. I could not ask for a better meal.

    Contrary to Annette P's comment as to their service etc I definitely have to disagree with her. I did my party there and they were nothing but accommodating for what I needed and wanted for my party. You definitely do get what you pay for. However, if you are cheap as my guess Annette was and expect things for free when you hardly pay anything for the entire party at all you probably won't get much unless you specify it. And I never had a problem w/ the owners. My guess is, is that Annette you're prob neither the classiest nor the most well mannered yourself so treat others as you want to be treated. :)

    Good ol Rose Garden. Better than a lot of Greek Diners I've been to. We would come here often when my dad lived in Elk Grove. The cream of chicken soup is great.     I love cozy family run restaurants such as Rose Garden Cafe. I could tell a lot of regulars come here because many of the waitresses stop to make conversations about specific topics or already know what the diner will order before they even speak. I ordered a cup of cream of mushroom soup and an egg white omelet. My husband had a breakfast special (2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 pieces of toast). My omelet was huge and I literally had it for breakfast, lunch and dinner the following day. The cream of mushroom soup was clearly home made and quite filling. We noticed the prices for dinner are very reasonable hope to return soon!

    We have eaten at the Rose Garden on numerous occasions during the last few months and have never been disappointed. The staff is particularly pleasant and the food is very good. The baby back ribs are outstanding. They are open to custom orders and have baked sweet potatoes available some days. The soup is always homemade and available for purchase by the quart. For a family style restaurant, you will not be disappointed. It's one of those places with a huge menu selection. Have a beer and enjoy!

    This is your standard family restaurant. The hostess (I think owner) is very friendly. They serve breakfast all day and have some of the biggest omelets I've ever seen. The soups of the day are tasty and you can get a sandwich with fries/coleslaw and bowl of soup for a decent price. It's a great place for lunch as they get you in and out in time to get back to work. I usually go for lunch every couple of weeks.

    Like Ritzy's on Algonquin Rd, this place looks like it catered to the senior citizen's crowd. But we never let that stop us. If anything, prices would be cheaper, right? We've been there twice for lunch, and the clientele runs the gamut from young 'uns like us to business crowd to families and yes, to seniors. Get the soups even if you aren't full. The split pea soup is hearty, and my husband likes the cream of chicken as well. Their portions are huge. We've not been disappointed in too many dishes. Recommended: Reuben; gyros (sliced really thin and oh, so crispy); split pea soup. Their hash brown is the bomb! Extra golden crispy on the inside, flavorful and tender on the inside. The wait staff is extremely attentive, too.

    My girl friend and I came here around 11AM on a Sunday and were seated right away off to the room on the right when you first walk in. Neither of us had ever been here. Right off, I feel like the coffee could've come a little quicker. That's just what I'm used to over at the Egg Basket on Barrington Rd, but after awhile, our server came. I ordered my staple breakfast of 2 eggs over easy with sausage and hash browns and went with the pancakes instead of toast. My friend got one of those skillet-cheezy-platters. Food was definitely excellent! Sausage - awesome! It was definitely on par with what I usually get at Egg Basket (which is closer to where I live). Coffee was getting low and I was a little worried I'd have to flag down our waitress, but she came just in the knick of time. A private party began in the room we were sitting in and I think after awhile, our waitress forgot that we were in there. So, we had to go to the cashier without our bill bcuz we'd been waiting and waiting, but then again, we were in no hurry to leave and who really wants to demand a bill where you have to pay money! ha ha! But, no, the front desk woman was very kind and apologetic for our wait on the bill. I would definitely come back here again when I'm in the area, but I live closer to Barrington Road, so most likely won't be back soon, unless I am with my friend again who lives in EGV! =)

    I've been here a couple of times for breakfast and it was good. It came fast and was hot. Had a patty melt for lunch once and it was fine. My experience for dinner has been a little different. Once I had the breaded veal cutlet and the breeding was so hard it was difficult to cut. Another time I had shrimp de Jonge and I don't think I would ever order it again there. The shrimp was so over cooked they were like rubber. Not good. I'll try them again for dinner but three strikes and it's bye bye.

I've been coming to Rose Garden about once a month for years with my Dad (in his 60's) for breakfast or lunch on Saturdays. Always busy, but never a a wait for a table - Rose Garden is one of those solid dependable places to get a variety of classic American Fare: Superior Egg breakfasts including gigantic Omelets. Try the spinich & Feta it's great! Wonderful and huge turkey club sandwiches and great crunchy fries. Like the other review said; cream of anything soup here is awesome. Just add a little pepper (remember they cater to folks my Dad's age) and a dash o'salt and dip that garlic bread (that come iun the bread basket!) in there and you'll be a happy camper. Walk off your wonderful meal by visiting Elk Grove Village's Elk preserve which is located across the street from Rose Garden.

    We went here recently for dinner and had some great food. The Rose Garden represents the upper end of the Greek restaurant scale. I had the Angus beef stroganoff which was the best I've ever had. The beef was tender enough to cut with just a fork, and bursting with flavor. Huge portions I might add too. My dining companions had a variety of things ranging from salads to sandwiches. The salads were huge and beautiful. The bread basket also had garlic bread in it which was awesome, they even brought us more when we asked. The cream of chicken rice soup was fantastic. To top it all of the service was great too. It really was a great dining experience.

    What a great place to eat! Warm atmosphere, quiet dining area, great food, polite and friendly staff... I will totally be back! I came here this past week to catch a quick bite with family. We all ordered breakfast food, and I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered, drinks were served, and then the most shocking thing of all... A bread basket. Yes, folks, they are masters in the lost art of the bread basket. I used to love when a restaurant would bring that basket over, with the little packets of butter, and you could enjoy some tasty bread before your meal. I have suffered greatly with the disappearance of the bread basket. Thank you, Rose Garden Cafe, for renewing my faith in dining! Anyway, I ordered the ham and cheese omelet, and let me just say... It. Was. Amazing. I was totally put off of omelets thanks to IHOP and their nasty tasting eggs, but this was very tasty. Lots of ham in there, not too much cheese, and it was served with hash browns on the side and two pancakes. I was so full after the omelet and hash browns, I couldn't even touch my pancakes, but they went home in the typical styrofoam carrying case to nom on later. The waitress was polite, not too chatty, but not rude. The service was fast, too! We had our food in record time, and it was the perfect temperature. This place is a little out of my way, but I will definitely try to make my way back here soon!

    My quick tip was quick and to the point...it's ok, but their menu items are a step back from better restaurants like Christies on Irving Park. I've been here probably 300 times over the last 30 years...when it was the 7-Stars; but now that I've taken the blinders off I'm starting to enjoy so many other similar restaurants. Their Veal Park was pretty much all I knew from "standard" restaurants; but it's really only, ok. Sorry, but with age (44) comes experience. So-so for the Garden.

    Been here a couple times. Most recently for Thanksgiving. My family met here without us one holiday last year, spur-of-the-moment thing, and really liked it. My wife and I came to check it out a couple weeks back and had great service. Today, not so much. Everyone can have an off day. But it was more than that. First, the good news: food was very good for this sort of place. But t was evident early on that our waitress was perturbed and short on patience. She just gave off a bad vibe. Immediately we all felt like we were walking on eggshells with her. She was terse in her demeanor and made us all edgy. She rushed us to order, about 10 mins after we arrived, and we went with it. Salads and soup came out, but they'd seated us too close to the table behind. She broke cardinal rules #1 and #2 of good waiting by first asking who ordered what, and then handing us plates and asking us to pass food around. Again, we went with it. So out come our meals a short while later. We really didn't want to be rushed, but the serving pace was like diner speed. OK. Again, we took a "let's get thru this" attitude. Here's where things take yet another turn. Two of us ordered NY strips. I ordered mine charred. Well the waitress wasn't keeping track of the orders, she was just CLEARLY disinterested in the bothersome details. She was still asking "OK, so who ordered this, who ordered that... So she gave my steak to the other person who ordered a strip. Of course, I didn't know I was going to get the wrong order until she handed me a plate (YES, she's still passing around plates, only this time they're dinner plates - I nearly dumped a plate of hot juices on my lap). The mix-up (due to her indifference, not honest error) quickly became apparent. I sent my steak back and waited about 10 mins to get it back. The check came so fast, we barely had an hour at our table. The final insult was when the waitress told me "oh no hurry, I'm not rushing you" BUT THEY WERE STRIPPING THE TABLE AS WE SAT THERE! Taking all the plates, silverware, etc. That's a good tipoff that they want you out. Awful. Lastly,as if that's not enough, my cousin and her husband had stopped by during dinner just to say hello on their way to their own engagement. They sat for a minute at an empty booth next to the bus station with my sister in law, and the BUS BOY (I kid you not, the friggin' BUS BOY) gave them real attitude about it. He was grabbing things off that table, glaring at them. It's not even like HE was sitting there. He wasn't. He was just, well, being a jerk. I don't think we'd give Rose Garden another shot. I CERTAINLY would never go for another holiday. I'll go back to the other restaurants we like, where we can sit for a while without being given the bum's rush out the door or made to feel like you're at the counter at Mel's Diner. They added a $25 tip. I would have left it be, but my brother from out of town wanted to give her more. He hadn't been paying attention to all that was happening. Later when we clued him in he regretted the extra $15. So our waitress got $40 for a little more than an hour of some of the most aloof, coarse service I've had at a rstrt in a long time. Late in the meal her attitude improved, she seemed a little more congenial, but it was too late as far as I am concerned.

Sever seemed apprehensive to even take the meal back. I got dessert with mine. Paid the extra $1 to get a slice of Caramel Pumpkin Cheesecake. It caught my eye as soon as we walked in the door. The piece of pie I got was old and dried out. The caramel wasn't even a caramel consistency, it was dried and crusty. When we went to pay, I showed the cashier the slice and she offered to swap it out. Tall, thin middle aged woman with long dark wavy hair who usually runs the register refused to swap out the pie and bc the newer one had yet to be served. I old her the slice I got was old and crusty yet she still refused to swap it out. I told her to keep her extra $$ I paid for the upgrade and that I would NEVER be returning. Horrible Experience!!!! Never again!!!!

    1st time I've written a review here but have been here for breakfast, lunch or dinner more times then I could ever remember. Whenever we're back in Chicago it's a given that if at all possible that it must include a stop at the Rose Garden. The warm and friendly owners and staff, always consistently great and always what I expect. Many of the staff have been there for years contributing to this no doubt. They also have a party room for events and meetings up to about a 100-150 guests. My wife and I actually had our wedding and reception here. Food and plated service for our guests was smooth, well coordinated, and delicious. Rose Garden is a winner!

    I am only well versed in their Mediterranean salad w/gyro. They have a really good mediterranean dressing, choice of creamy or vinaigrette. I usually get both. Gyro meat comes with sauce as well. I feel like the salad portion looks big, but it's a lot of lettuce, I would like a little more topping and a little more gyro meat. If it wasn't for the dressing, I would probably try something else. A definite pro is a bread basket. Garlic bread, rolls, breadsticks. Holla. Everyone at the table always seems to like their food, ranges from skirt steaks to fish, and we're all choosy eaters. The servers and hostesses are very nice. I will be back because it's a convenient location and tasty.

And a coffee pot on the table ... that's worth a star alone!! Our waitress was a joy, very attentive and enthusiastic.     Grabbed a quick dinner last night at the Rose Garden Cafe. It looks like a family run business with the family working here. The menu here is HUGE, it took me a few minutes to look over it all. There's something for everyone. I ended up sharing the gyros platter with my dad. The prices here are extremely reasonable. For $10, we were able to have enough for two people.     I would have given this place 4.5 stars if it weren't for the fact that the servers are anything but friendly! I went in with a friend and brought my two sons along. When we sat down I looked over and heard a server say "I don't care how cute they are. I hate kids!" And the entire time we were there she would roll her eyes every time she walked past us. Our server had absolutly zero personality. She never once cracked a smile. We were sitting at a table right by the kitchen entrance. And also right in front of the bathroom. An odd place for a table. The food was very good. I got the creamy chicken and rice soup. Delicious!! I would have loved to make this place a regular choice for my family but due to the cold and unwelcoming atmosphere I don't think I will be returning.

    RGC is a long time personal favorite. Their cream of chicken rice soup is without equal in the area and they serve some of the best pancakes I've ever eaten. Staff is friendly and the menu is more than reasonably priced. They do pick up a lot during the lunch hour, even on weekdays, and Sunday mornings can get very busy, so be aware of your timing when heading over. They are quick to accommodate large groups without an issue.

    Poor experience here two weeks go. I went out to lunch with coworkers, and had ordered online 15 minutes beforehand. The waitress was older, and extremely rude about the fact I had an order waiting already. The salad was decent, but she forgot my dressing and I had to ask the waitress who begrudgingly got it for me. The bread as stale and hard. This waitress never refilled our waters.the check out is one by one at a csh register in front fo the door-slow, in the way system. I have no desire to return.

    On our adventure to see the Elk Grove Village elk, we stopped here for a quick lunch. I liked that they play Sinatra. Can't beat that with a big stick. The décor is rather odd. There are lots of statues, figurines and pictures of pudgy chefs in the tall chef hats. Well, it is a restaurant, so ok, I guess. The food was ok, but nothing special. I had the soup and 1/2 sandwich combo. The soup was shrimp bisque. It was very thick. I added a bit of cream to try and thin it out. The tuna sandwich was ok, but I felt the tuna needed a tad more mayo to tone it down a little. Christopher had a patty melt with chicken noodle soup. The soup was good and the sandwich was large. He said the flavor was ok. The women's bathroom was a hoot and a half. It is a large, single stall bathroom, and the entry to the stall is framed by huge gold and white columns. Talk about a throne room ....... I wasn't overwhelmed by Rose Garden Café, but not for any specific reason. It isn't bad, but I doubt we will ever be back again. If one lives in the area however, it might be interesting to try the breakfast menu.

    This is my third time eating here. It's hard not to love this place. They give you a basket overflowing with 3 or 4 different types of bread. If you order a dinner you get soup, salad, and dessert included with your meal. Not to mention the menu has a lot of options. Breakfast is served all day. Also the service is outstanding. I am a server myself and I think nikki is a phenomenal waitress. I would give her five stars alone!

    I'm writing this a little upset, so that may reflect in the review. When I walked in the lobby area there was a sign that said Friday night all you can eat fish fry. Waitress came to the table and I pointed at a sign that said tilapia fish fry. I'll have that I said. two pieces of fish arrive on a plate. It was very tasty, but I was still hungry. I asked if I could get just one more piece, no need to overdo it. This isn't the all you can eat fish she said. That is the cod. I double-checked on the way out. Nowhere does it specify a difference or say that the all you can eat is only cod. Everything else was great and this place would probably get 4 stars if the fish meal would have been explained.

    I ordered a chopped steak. Received my order and they gave me a hamburger patty. Asked for manager and he was very defensive and insisted it was a chopped steak. Anyone can tell the difference between a hamburger pattie and a chopped steak. I lost my appetite on his rudeness and they had to the nerve to charge me for what I ate. POOR management! My friends chicken breast was dry and didn't enjoy it.

    The hubby and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Rose Garden Cafe! We only come here for breakfast and its amazing every time! We recently went this weekend, and I swear they doubled our food portion...which was fine by us! Their breakfast prices are great for the portions you get! I always take home leftovers, which is enough for me and sometimes the hubby to eat the next day! I usually order the feta and spinach omelet (which is delish), but this last time I ordered the Portabella, Cheddar and Onion Omelet (which was the size of my head), and it was so yummy!!! It came with hash browns and pancakes! So good! My husband ordered the two eggs with bacon, toast and hashbrown...he somehow got double the bacon he ordered, which was okay with him! (He has a rule: LNBB (leave no bacon behind), so there were no leftovers from his plate! The service has always been good for us, and it seems like a genuinely nice, family owned restaurant. There is plenty of parking as well! If you want a good, inexpensive breakfast (under $20 for two people), then I would defiantely check out the Rose Garden Cafe!!!

    I wanted to give this place 5 stars and I've been here a couple a of times. Breakfast is excellent! Lunch....meh. for $10 I got a tuna on croissant with soup and fries and a pickle. I opted out of the coleslaw. The fries were cold and the croissant tasted days old. For a $10 lunch I expected more. I could have gone to Jersey Mike's and spent less. I did see that they have kids eat free on Sundays for dinner after 3pm though. I'll be back as I love their soups I just think they are expensive for lunch and I wasn't impressed. I'm so longing for a good family restaurant or some new in Elk Grove Village. Sigh...

    Walked in here for breakfast with my 3 year old last Sunday. We got seated right away but the server seem like she was too busy and had to wait for 15 minutes before she greeted us just to let us know that she wasn't ready to take our order. The meat lovers skillet I ordered said on the menu that it came with cheese but what i ended up getting was mostly cheese and it was pretty horrible. Not only did it have too much cheese but also the cook had inserted the core of an onion in the skillet. I pointed this out to the server and she said she would mention it to the manager. Well after leaving my skillet uneaten due to the core of onions it had and all the nasty cheese I approached the manager and she said that I am supposed to eat the core and that everyone loves cheese. She told me that she had been in the business 16 years as the owners and that she did not care if I did not return since she has plenty of people that do. She also threatened me to call the cops if i did not leave because the restaurant was busy and she did not have time for me. This is the worst dining experience i have ever had. Needless to say i will never go back!

    I'm not quite sure what to think of this place to be honest. FOOD: Decent food. Portions are extremely generous and generously priced as well. Although nothing out of the ordinary, its not bad food either. Menu is LARGE, they had everything from Italian to Greek to American comfort foods. This made it confusing what to order since I didn't know what would have been their 'specialty'. I ordered baked chicken and the rest of my party ordered various things which I took a few bites out of. They might have been all homemade but they didn't taste homemade from scratch. It was all very 'satisfactory' to the point where I feel like you could get the same flavors from a pouch or can. SERVICE: Really good service. Friendly and speedy. Our waiter remembered everything by heart... extremely impressive for our party of 10! He even went out of his way to make sure we had a specific flavor of creamer for our coffees. ATMOSPHERE: This was rather confusing too. I couldn't figure out if I was at Grandma's house or in an Italian home or what. Probably didn't help with the Halloween decorations. Although I do give them props for being festive for Holidays. Slightly stuffy feeling inside but it was okay. OVERALL: Almost felt like this place needed to be on Restaurant Impossible on Food Network or something which is why I am a little bit indecisive about this place.

    Pretty standard diner-type place here. Their menu is gigantic and the prices have always been pretty reasonable considering the He-Man sized portions you get. The omelets are delicious and huge and my favorite ingredient is the feta (I believe they use imported feta only). It's pretty typical in every other aspect: busy on weekends, fast service, average coffee. Ask for the bacon crispy otherwise it'll come out all flippy-floppy which is no bueno for me.

    I've been by here many times while I would go to Tensuke market. The place always seemed to be busy but I never bothered. I went here for breakfast and it was really good. There isn't the mega selection of items on the menu, but it is still quite vast. I had the bacon and cheese omelette and they gave me the option of cheese (America, Cheddar, Mozzarella). I had mine made with egg whites and it was quite large. There were plenty of hash browns and they gave the pancakes on the side. My friend had the corned beef hash with eggs over easy and really enjoyed it as well. Along with our cups of coffee, it barely reached $20. The service was stellar as the coffee was constantly refilled and our orders were taken in a timely manner and check brought out toward the end. They also have a basement for a banquet room and they have an elevator so anyone can go there. There's plenty of parking on the side or in front, so I'll definitely come back for another meal!

    Rose Garden Cafe is a decent restaurant. I was looking for a local family friendly restaurant and found this place through Yelp, where they have decent reviews. During the heatwave of 2012 we stop in and there is little AC in the place. The manager or owner says the compressors on the roof are shutting down from the excessive heat. They offered us a seat in the basement where they have a small banquet area. Very nice of them to do and it was /so/ much cooler down there. The service was okay, I don't think the staff was crazy about walking up and down the stairs so much. I had Grecian Pork chops which were tender and taste okay, though I have had better Grecian flavor other restaurants. My wife had the a chop steak with grilled onions. It wasn't bad, but there was not a lot of seasoning in the meat. She says the outside was pretty good. My son had the fish fry. The batter was so-so, though the fish inside tasted pretty good. My younger son ate kids ravioli which he really didn't care for much at all. He did eat all his shrimp bisque soup and bread before, so perhaps he just wasn't that hungry any longer. All and all, a decent place, we will be back to try new things out and perhaps find a new place to frequent. The cost of the food was around $13 bucks a meal for al'acarte, add a buck or two for a full dinner.

    This is one of those mom and pop diners that has a menu that somehow has everything on it. From breakfast served all day to hamburgers and club sandwiches to steaks and seafood. Everything is just kind of alright. The bread service is nice but nothing special. The soups and salads are fine, but nothing you'll rave to your friends about. I stick with either a hamburger and fries or some pancakes and bacon. Prices are decent and you get a good amount of food. If you're in Elk Grove Village and you want to sit down and have a decent meal in a nice atmosphere this would be the place to go.

    Nice atmosphere, we came a little late but they were nothing but happy to seat and serve us. Just my girlfriend and I she went for breakfast that was a Denver Omelet the size of the plate. I went for dinner with the Reuben. Very tasty. Cheddar soup was OK. Nothing to write home about. I was wishing for the chicken rice. All and all not bad. The waiter we had was super efficient and not overbearing. Tasty. We will go back again. Nice menu selection too.

    Rose Garden respects the Greek diner basics. Crispy hash browns? Check. Gorgeous layered cakes? Check. Friendly service? You got it, hon! The portions are mammoth, and if you are here with the kiddies, you can serve their little pancake appetites with your sides alone. The skillets could use a little more seasoning, but that is the only real complaint we had at our table for five. The coffee and the morning love from the great wait staff kept coming, and so did the customers on a busy Sunday morning. This is a great family place that will serve you up a breakfast to last you all day.

    We went here recently for dinner and had some great food. The Rose Garden represents the upper end of the Greek restaurant scale. I had the Angus beef stroganoff which was the best I've ever had. The beef was tender enough to cut with just a fork, and bursting with flavor. Huge portions I might add too. My dining companions had a variety of things ranging from salads to sandwiches. The salads were huge and beautiful. The bread basket also had garlic bread in it which was awesome, they even brought us more when we asked. The cream of chicken rice soup was fantastic. To top it all of the service was great too. It really was a great dining experience.

    I love cozy family run restaurants such as Rose Garden Cafe. I could tell a lot of regulars come here because many of the waitresses stop to make conversations about specific topics or already know what the diner will order before they even speak. I ordered a cup of cream of mushroom soup and an egg white omelet. My husband had a breakfast special (2 eggs, 2 sausages, 2 pieces of toast). My omelet was huge and I literally had it for breakfast, lunch and dinner the following day. The cream of mushroom soup was clearly home made and quite filling. We noticed the prices for dinner are very reasonable hope to return soon!

    We have eaten at the Rose Garden on numerous occasions during the last few months and have never been disappointed. The staff is particularly pleasant and the food is very good. The baby back ribs are outstanding. They are open to custom orders and have baked sweet potatoes available some days. The soup is always homemade and available for purchase by the quart. For a family style restaurant, you will not be disappointed. It's one of those places with a huge menu selection. Have a beer and enjoy!

    I've been here a couple of times for breakfast and it was good. It came fast and was hot. Had a patty melt for lunch once and it was fine. My experience for dinner has been a little different. Once I had the breaded veal cutlet and the breeding was so hard it was difficult to cut. Another time I had shrimp de Jonge and I don't think I would ever order it again there. The shrimp was so over cooked they were like rubber. Not good. I'll try them again for dinner but three strikes and it's bye bye.

    This is your standard family restaurant. The hostess (I think owner) is very friendly. They serve breakfast all day and have some of the biggest omelets I've ever seen. The soups of the day are tasty and you can get a sandwich with fries/coleslaw and bowl of soup for a decent price. It's a great place for lunch as they get you in and out in time to get back to work.     Like Ritzy's on Algonquin Rd, this place looks like it catered to the senior citizen's crowd. But we never let that stop us. If anything, prices would be cheaper, right? We've been there twice for lunch, and the clientele runs the gamut from young 'uns like us to business crowd to families and yes, to seniors. Get the soups even if you aren't full. The split pea soup is hearty, and my husband likes the cream of chicken as well. Their portions are huge. We've not been disappointed in too many dishes. Recommended: Reuben; gyros (sliced really thin and oh, so crispy); split pea soup. Their hash brown is the bomb! Extra golden crispy on the inside, flavorful and tender on the inside. The wait staff is extremely attentive, too.

    My girl friend and I came here around 11AM on a Sunday and were seated right away off to the room on the right when you first walk in. Neither of us had ever been here. Right off, I feel like the coffee could've come a little quicker. That's just what I'm used to over at the Egg Basket on Barrington Rd, but after awhile, our server came. I ordered my staple breakfast of 2 eggs over easy with sausage and hash browns and went with the pancakes instead of toast. My friend got one of those skillet-cheezy-platters. Food was definitely excellent! Sausage - awesome! It was definitely on par with what I usually get at Egg Basket (which is closer to where I live). Coffee was getting low and I was a little worried I'd have to flag down our waitress, but she came just in the knick of time. A private party began in the room we were sitting in and I think after awhile, our waitress forgot that we were in there. So, we had to go to the cashier without our bill bcuz we'd been waiting and waiting, but then again, we were in no hurry to leave and who really wants to demand a bill where you have to pay money! ha ha! But, no, the front desk woman was very kind and apologetic for our wait on the bill. I would definitely come back here again when I'm in the area, but I live closer to Barrington Road, so most likely won't be back soon, unless I am with my friend again who lives in EGV! =)

    Stopped by after a long day, with my sister and I craving breakfast even though it was 3 in the afternoon. Very happy! A menu that includes everything!!!! Breaksfast, lunch dinner, specials, ice cream creations and a case of yummy looking desserts! We both ordered eggs and bacon. A great looking basket of bread arrived but we did not sample as my sister is on a low-salt diet and I need gluten-free. However, I almost moaned with delight as I ate the crispy hashbrowns that arrived quickly with our orders. Perfectly cooked eggs. Crisp bacon. My sister having rye toast. A caddy of jellies arrived with her toast. Attentive waiter. I could not ask for a better meal.

    Been here a couple times. Most recently for Thanksgiving. My family met here without us one holiday last year, spur-of-the-moment thing, and really liked it. My wife and I came to check it out a couple weeks back and had great service. Today, not so much. Everyone can have an off day. But it was more than that. First, the good news: food was very good for this sort of place. But t was evident early on that our waitress was perturbed and short on patience. She just gave off a bad vibe. Immediately we all felt like we were walking on eggshells with her. She was terse in her demeanor and made us all edgy. She rushed us to order, about 10 mins after we arrived, and we went with it. Salads and soup came out, but they'd seated us too close to the table behind. She broke cardinal rules #1 and #2 of good waiting by first asking who ordered what, and then handing us plates and asking us to pass food around. Again, we went with it. So out come our meals a short while later. We really didn't want to be rushed, but the serving pace was like diner speed. OK. Again, we took a "let's get thru this" attitude. Here's where things take yet another turn. Two of us ordered NY strips. I ordered mine charred. Well the waitress wasn't keeping track of the orders, she was just CLEARLY disinterested in the bothersome details. She was still asking "OK, so who ordered this, who ordered that... So she gave my steak to the other person who ordered a strip. Of course, I didn't know I was going to get the wrong order until she handed me a plate (YES, she's still passing around plates, only this time they're dinner plates - I nearly dumped a plate of hot juices on my lap). The mix-up (due to her indifference, not honest error) quickly became apparent. I sent my steak back and waited about 10 mins to get it back. The check came so fast, we barely had an hour at our table. The final insult was when the waitress told me "oh no hurry, I'm not rushing you" BUT THEY WERE STRIPPING THE TABLE AS WE SAT THERE! Taking all the plates, silverware, etc. That's a good tipoff that they want you out. Awful. Lastly,as if that's not enough, my cousin and her husband had stopped by during dinner just to say hello on their way to their own engagement. They sat for a minute at an empty booth next to the bus station with my sister in law, and the BUS BOY (I kid you not, the friggin' BUS BOY) gave them real attitude about it. He was grabbing things off that table, glaring at them. It's not even like HE was sitting there. He wasn't. He was just, well, being a jerk. I don't think we'd give Rose Garden another shot. I CERTAINLY would never go for another holiday. I'll go back to the other restaurants we like, where we can sit for a while without being given the bum's rush out the door or made to feel like you're at the counter at Mel's Diner. They added a $25 tip. I would have left it be, but my brother from out of town wanted to give her more. He hadn't been paying attention to all that was happening. Later when we clued him in he regretted the extra $15. So our waitress got $40 for a little more than an hour of some of the most aloof, coarse service I've had at a rstrt in a long time. Late in the meal her attitude improved, she seemed a little more congenial, but it was too late as far as I am concerned.

    Contrary to Annette P's comment as to their service etc I definitely have to disagree with her. I did my party there and they were nothing but accommodating for what I needed and wanted for my party. You definitely do get what you pay for. However, if you are cheap as my guess Annette was and expect things for free when you hardly pay anything for the entire party at all you probably won't get much unless you specify it. And I never had a problem w/ the owners. My guess is, is that Annette you're prob neither the classiest nor the most well mannered yourself so treat others as you want to be treated. :)

    So, I took my hunk of a boyfriend out to eat on a Saturday night, my treat. I did not want to go to any expensive or pretentious restaurants. I had the feeling for a comfy, hearty, family restaurant. We live about 5-10 mins away from this restaurant and I thought it would be well suited. Me and my boyfriend ordered the same entree. A Tuna and Avocado Melt. They were going to give it to us on an English Muffin. We requested ya know, the bread to be on grilled sourdough. When it came out, they toasted white bread instead. Also, I substituted the fries for the vegetables. When my plate came out, there was a corn on the cob on the plate. Since when does this constitute in anyone's mind, a vegetable? The waitress said, is corn ok? While not giving a shit at all if it was or not. It was packed for a Saturday night, so I get it that it was busy. Our waitress could have cared less about us, rushing through us and our order, as if she had to run to the bathroom. Oh, yeah, and we never got refills on water. She took 1 nano-second to ask us again if everything was ok? She did it so fast that she didn't even give my boyfriend a chance to respond. Then, phew....she was outta there. What was good though was in the breadbasket, they did give you two warm garlic bread slices. ps...The waitress was a biotch and how dare the cooks do that to us. Who gives you white bread? Only time is toast with breakfast. What, are we in a truck stop?

    Even though I now live up near the WI border I still have friends bring me food from the Rose Garden Café when they come up to visit me. Whenever I am in the area I stop by and grab a meal. Soups are always delicious and are the gold standard by which I judge a restaurant. So far I'm still searching for one up here in Lake County that comes close. They make a great turkey club too, one of my other favorites. Portions are huge, Menu is very large, they have great daily specials and always at least two delicious soups to choose from. After hundreds of dining experiences here I can say that I have rarely had a meal I didn't thoroughly enjoy. In fact I have a family member bringing me home some soup and a turkey club tonight. We all ordered breakfast food, and I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered, drinks were served, and then the most shocking thing of all... A bread basket. Yes, folks, they are masters in the lost art of the bread basket. I used to love when a restaurant would bring that basket over, with the little packets of butter, and you could enjoy some tasty bread before your meal. I have suffered greatly with the disappearance of the bread basket. Thank you, Rose Garden Cafe, for renewing my faith in dining! Anyway, I ordered the ham and cheese omelet, and let me just say... It. Was. Amazing. I was totally put off of omelets thanks to IHOP and their nasty tasting eggs, but this was very tasty. Lots of ham in there, not too much cheese, and it was served with hash browns on the side and two pancakes. I was so full after the omelet and hash browns, I couldn't even touch my pancakes, but they went home in the typical styrofoam carrying case to nom on later. The waitress was polite, not too chatty, but not rude. The service was fast, too! We had our food in record time, and it was the perfect temperature. This place is a little out of my way, but I will definitely try to make my way back here soon!

    I think the best thing I can say about the Rose Garden is that you get a lot of food for a little money and it's good. I also like the hours and they have a huge menu.

    My quick tip was quick and to the point...it's ok, but their menu items are a step back from better restaurants like Christies on Irving Park. I've been here probably 300 times over the last 30 years...when it was the 7-Stars; but now that I've taken the blinders off I'm starting to enjoy so many other similar restaurants. Their Veal Park was pretty much all I knew from "standard" restaurants; but it's really only, ok. Sorry, but with age (44) comes experience. So-so for the Garden.

    I had breakfast here yesterday and it was horrible. The french toast was barely hot, had no powdered sugar on it and seemed like it had been sitting around for a while. I also had scrambled eggs with cheeese which consisted of a piece of cheese on top of the eggs not mixed in and barely melted.

    One of the most delicious skirt steak sandwiches I ever had I'm still drooling. The only bad thing I could eat another one Right away!!!! My wife ordered the bacon cheddar burger She said it was fabulous. They cook it over charcoal just like at home for a juicy homemade taste. The French fries have a secret coating to give you a wonderful crunchy and flavorfull taste. The soup is homemade just super, and they cook fresh whole turkeys Dailey. I guess I may have to move closer to them. I rather eat here than at home Enjoy.

    Pure diner type American food place owned by classic Greek restaurant owners making good affordable hot food fast. I've been coming to Rose Garden about once a month for years with my Dad (in his 60's) for breakfast or lunch on Saturdays. Always busy, but never a a wait for a table - Rose Garden is one of those solid dependable places to get a variety of classic American Fare: Superior Egg breakfasts including gigantic Omelets. Try the spinich & Feta it's great! Wonderful and huge turkey club sandwiches and great crunchy fries. Like the other review said; cream of anything soup here is awesome. Just add a little pepper (remember they cater to folks my Dad's age) and a dash o'salt and dip that garlic bread (that come iun the bread basket!) in there and you'll be a happy camper. Walk off your wonderful meal by visiting Elk Grove Village's Elk preserve which is located across the street from Rose Garden.

    Classic "Greek-style" coffee shop. Lots of food. Tremendous variety. Comfortable seating; they never rush you, even on busy busy Sunday mornings. Fair pricing - I'd even say low prices, considering you'll probably take a doggie bag home. Family restaurant for sure. Bring the kids AND the grandparents and go home with change in your pocket!
