Went for dinner with a total party of 5. The service was SLOW... very slow... our waiter didn't seem to care we were there. No refills on the chips and salsa while waiting for our food. The chile relleno was ok. I've had better. Overall, its not worth the hype, I've had much better food and service at other less expensive places.

The food is great, unfortunately the service doesn't measure up! I understand that sometimes there can be a language barrier, but out right rudeness is unacceptable! This didn't occur only on one occasion, but too many to times count. Finally, they are very proud of their product; as they seem to be over priced for the experience and satisfaction of the dish; that you are served.

My family tried this restaurant for the first time last night. When we walked in, the hostess made no acknowledgement of us other than to grab some menus and walk away (which we correctly assumed was an indication to follow her to a table.) We had a 10 month old baby with us who needed a high chair, but she set the menus on the table and left without saying a word. When the waiter came, he asked if we needed one. After he brought our drinks, we still needed a few minutes to look at the menu. We waited so long to order that we were getting ready to leave when he finally came back. He left without asking if our two year old was eating. The food was really good, but it didn't make up for the poor service. We won't be going back.

Sometimes, the shrimp seems old. I have gotten sick after eating here. Still, they do provide large portions for the price and ice cold beers.

It took me a couple of years to try this place. I don't know why as I am regretting my delay now. I'm partial to my Fairmont City or Cherokee street authentic establishments where English isn't spoken. However, after Mass a couple of Sunday's ago, I was determined to get Mexican and didn't feel like going far for it so I took a chance hoping I could find something not to Americanized on the menu. First I love the color, the wood artwork, the light and everything. I'm Mexican why wouldn't I right? But I really thought it was going to be bigger. I hate tight squeezes. Thank God the booths are high back to help. I passed and chose to eat in the bar. Surprisingly really comfortable seating and I wanted to watch National Hockey Day and soccer on the TV's. I know you're like c'mon chica get to the food. So, I got the carne asada steak. It come's with tons of veggies, tortillas, rice and beans. But the best thing. This lil suprise corn cake. That corn cake has given my mouth something to drool over and my mind something to crave for 2 weeks. It was an instant addiction. It was amazing so much that I wanted to eat a whole pan of it. If I don't get it soon, I may go loca. The steak was good and marinated. It's skirt steak so you its thin and can be pulled apart with your fingers if you want. Throw it on a tortilla and chew to your lil heart is content. It was as close to authentic as I could get in a strip mall and satisfied my needs. I may not order anything else. The salsa & chips are also of good quality so you really can't go wrong when you have that & add a Model Especial (even on a Sunday before noon) Yes as previously described the place is louder than average but that's how a Mexican restaurant should be. It has lunch menu's that are very reasonable even on Sunday as I'm assuming since they gave me the menu. It's really not pricey. I love this place and look forward to patio dining. ADORO ESTE RESTAURANTE!

Went here on a date. I understand it's staffed by Mexican nationals or whatever. I asked for a gin an tonic. Seriously a gin an tonic. First they had to download the English Rosetta Stone and then asked what in the hell is a gin an tonic. So I explained the drink with the help of crayons an a 97 power point presentation. Good food tho.

So my sister and I decided to try this instead of doing typical food and I have to say I'm glad we did. We went around noon so it wasn't so busy and were seated immediately. Out waiter was prompt and understanding when we told him it was our first time here. He showed us the menus and gave us a minute to look over them. I wasn't feeling to adventurous so I ordered a simple taco salad. The food and drinks were really prompt and everything tasted great. The food was more than enough. I wish the prices were a little more reasonable but other than that it was ok.

All I can say is Holy Crap Frozen Strawberry Margarita. If it is on special you have to get it. A half pitcher is only $8.95, which is a steal of a deal. Let's just put it this way, my friend knew she was screwed when I went, "Whoo, that is strong." The food is really good too. I liked the queso dip. It was not watery, very thick and filling. The shredded chicken tacos were good too. You can get one for $2.19 or 3 for $5.99. Great if you are watching your pocket book. The salsa is not too spicy either, which was a plesant change from what I usually get in the South!

We have passed this place a few times before but never again! WE MUST ALWAYS EAT HERE!!! The service was incredible and the food was unforgettable! The ambiance was fabulous and festive, not to mention the booths and tables alone were just wonderful! We have found our new favorite stop for Mexican! I've been visiting la casa Mexican restaurant for years now. I've not only brought countless friends but even two large parties of 15 or more. I have always enjoyed the food, friendly service, and ambiance. However, lately there was a management change. The service has severely declined. Waiters have no knowledge over menu items and are not attentive. The prices at la casa are now subject to change. Me and my roommate ordered the exact same dish and drink last night. Her bill was $6.37. My bill was $17.54. I addressed this issue to the cashier upon checkout ( he was also the manager). Nothing was changed about the bill and he was very rude. My other roommate who checked out behind me had a bill for $16 when she reached the register the manager told her she owed two more dollars claiming she ordered something that she did not. My last few experiences have been unacceptable. I will be taking my service elsewhere from now on. I am very sad this great company has taken such a bad turn.

My husband and I ate at La Casa Mexicana at 201 Harvard dr. Edwardville, il tonight (Wednesday May 7) and used one of your coupons from the money mailer. They honored the $5 off a $25 purchase coupon. However, did NOT honor their advertisement of "$4.99 all day Monday-Friday strawberry or lime 1/2 pitcher margaritas." The manager claimed he had never seen this advertisement, even though his company is clearly advertised on it. They refused to honor the advertisement, which is false advertising, and illegal. We payed $11.99 for a 1/2 pitcher of strawberry margarita when it should have only been $4.99 (that is a $7 difference). Not to mention we argued with the manager for a good 15 minutes and got nowhere. They also charge extra for additional tortilla shells when you order fajitas, I have never seen a Mexican restaurant do this.

We eat here almost every Tuesday!!They have half pitcher margaritas for $6.50 and trust me that's all you need!(my boyfriend and I share it and get 4 glasses each!) Their service is outstanding!! Chips and salsa come first and are always refilled once emptied. Our food always comes out at the perfect time! Their food is delicious and the atmosphere is so festive! I get the chicken/steak fajitas (there sides are also in big portions, so I always take what I didn't finish to-go) We are on our way now :)

We have been here 3-4 times since it opened in March. We are huge fans of authentic mexican food and felt that we owed this place a chance. We went on Cinco De Mayo - waited two hours to be seated... luckily the good came fast once we sat down. The food was very good as was the service. We went back in July and we were seated immediately, however, our server did not speak a word of English. I'm sorry, but if you work in a restaurant in a city whose primary language is English you need to understand it a little. We were asking some questions about different dishes and he repeatedly kept saying "ya..." "No..." when I was asking open-ended questions that a yes or no answer would not suffice. We ordered a mini pizza for my son (who is 2 and can't be bothered with mexican food ha-ha) and it arrived at our table un-sliced, we were unsuccessful at cutting it with a serrated knife used for cutting meat. We sent it back with a request for it to be sliced. He didn't understand, took it back in the kitchen... brought us a brand new steaming hot pizza, again, unsliced. We had to indicate with our hands that we wanted it sliced, almost in sign language, because now a pizza has been wasted and my son sat there watching us eat while they nuked another pizza. It was not pleasant. Though I know some limited conversational Spanish, I did not know the Spanish words for "slice" or "pizza". Ha-ha. All in all, the food was good but we really were troubled by the fact that we couldn't try anything new on the menu because we couldn't ask questions since our server did not speak more than three words of English. Aside from that, we would have given this place 4 stars. The atmosphere. Excellent. Margaritas. Delicious. Food. Yum! Service. Needs a little bit of work.

Love the food here, it is reasonably priced and everything we have tried is marvelous. The wait staff is so - so on the friendliness, but with the food it's all great. This is definitely our favorite in the area.

I'm surprised at how many Mexican restaurants there are around for an area with such a small Hispanic population (in comparison to Southern California where I'm from). So far, they have all been pretty good, but I have to say that La Casa definitely takes the cake. We ventured in for dinner the other night and my eyes immediately darted to the sign that said ".99 cent 10oz margaritas". Sign me up!! I even asked the waiter just to make sure I wasn't seeing things. He confirmed that they are indeed 99 cents and asked if I wanted one. I happily said, "POR FAVOR!" They weren't too busy and we were seated and received our drinks promptly. Their menu is big, but not overwhelming. I decided to forego the usual combo and go for something completely different for dinner. That's when I spotted the photo of the mocajete. The picture of it alone was so delicious that I wanted to eat the menu! We placed our order with the waiter (who spoke English just fine, btw) and waited for the deliciousness to come. While we waited I noticed all the decorative details in the restaurant. The interior is very colorful and was clearly put together with quite a bit of thought put into the design. Kudos for that! Finally, we spotted our food coming. I was salivating at the mere sight of it. The waiter laid my mocajete down on the table and they did not skimp on presentation nor portions. It was prepared in a stone bowl (that's where the word "mocajete" comes from) and was simmering with chicken, beef, shrimp and a medley of vegetables. The aroma was amazing!! It was accompanied by a plate of rice, beans and all the fixins. I took a bite and knew I had made a GREAT choice. It was delicious! The meat was tender and the veges added a nice layer of texture. The sauce itself was very flavorful and had a bit of a bite to it. What a great experience!! Two thumbs up for this place! On a side note, I saw someone made a comment about their waiter needing to learn English. Playing Devil's advocate here, how do you know he's not? He was probably trying his best to help you. Just sayin'...it was a pretty ignorant thing to say. There are millions of people in this country who speak English as a second language. Culture is good for you. :)

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants, definitely my favorite in Edwardsville. Never had a problem with service. One thing I'm impressed with is an authentic Mexican restaurant where the wait staff can actually speak English. Every waiter/waitress I've ever had is clearly hispanic, but can also speak fluent English. I always go with my family, and we typically split the fajita plate. Beef or chicken, both are excellent - not too spicy, which is great, because no one in my family handles spicy food very well. The fajita plate is a HUGE portion, and the serving for one is enough for us to split between three of us, and still have leftovers to take home - we just have to make sure to order extra tortilla shells. The only complaint I do have is if you order take out. We ordered yesterday, and clearly stated on the phone that we would like extra cheese and tortilla shells on the side. The man on the phone repeated it back to us, so we know he heard us and understood everything. I picked up the food, checked to make sure the order was right, and when I got home and emptied everything out of the bag, no only were there no extra shells or cheese, there was none at all. The shells are normally delivered to the table small and wrapped up in foil, so I had just assumed they were on the bottom of the bag - my fault I guess for not checking. The take out portions are also MUCH smaller. Got a beef fajita meal and chicken fajita meal to split between five of us, and we barely each got two small fajitas. The take out portions are probably at most, half the portion that you get when you order in the restaurant. Still though excellent food and good service. If you order to go, I would make sure you take into consideration that the portions are smaller and order a bit more. And prices are great. The take out order of two fajita plates only cost me $18 and although it was a bit scarce for five adults, there was still a lot of food there for $18.

I am slightly biased, because I don't typically like Mexican food. Three stars is the highest that I can forsee ever giving a Mexican restaurant. With that said, La Casa is the ony Mexican restaurant in town that I will willingly go to. They are more expensive than the others in town, but they have great chips and salsa. I usually order either the lobster nachoes or the lobster quesadilla, and thoroughly enjoy them. The huevos mexicanos on the lunch menu are also good. Plus, I love the interior design - it makes for a great atmosphere. One unbiased downside is the service. Everytime we go, we will finish our meal and sit waiting for the check for 15 minutes or more. The waiters are not very attentive, and you will need to flag them down if you need service during your meal. 4 stars for food + atmosphere 2 stars for service

Ok so we've been here for almost a year and it seems like we could never find a great mexican joint until we tried this place. We were in Edwardsville to try Peel Pizza but they are closed on Mondays, which is kinda weird, so that left us hungry and lost. We stumbled on La Casa just by driving around and let's just say we are thankful we did. Their chips and salsa were amazing along with the service and their spicy burrito. There are some good Mexican places around Belleville, but La Casa is for sure the best in the area.

Well, we finally got around to trying Casa Mexicana and...I was impressed. We tried to go for an early supper (6 PM) on Sunday (Mother's Day) and there were people standing around everywhere waiting for a table. So we came back at 8:30 (they close at 9:30) for a late supper. No problem with wait -were seated immediately. The chips were good and so was the salsa (picante). Both tasted fresh and the salsa was chunky and not runny like other places. It came close to the gold standard for chips and salsa - Chevy's. The food was very good except for the rice which was bland. Easily fixed with a little splash of salsa on it and who buys a meal just for the rice anyway? I was surprised that the menu wasn't a clone of most Mexican restaurants and actually had some different offerings. And, the prices were fair -every bit in line with the other 3 full service Mexican joints in town. The decor - over the top. I agree with the reviewer who likened it to a theme park - it felt like Disney World or Epcot Center. Service was adequate but not outstanding - but I have a feeling it was the end of a very long day for the poor employees.

Good atmosphere. Good service. Very Spicy. I love spicy foods but this really gave my stomach a workout. My boyfriend got the Tacos El Tabor which was pork with pineapple and onion. It was REALLY hot, plus it came with a chipotle sauce that made it even more hot. I got a chicken taco which had awesome flavor and a beef taco that was good too. I also got a chili relleno which was very spicy. I do realize that it's a chili and its supposed to be hot but they didn't deseed it so it was extra hot. If you have a sensitive stomach might want to ask about the heat level of some of the menu items. Next time I go there I'll probably find some things that aren't as hot or maybe order some sour cream to level out the burn. Overall it was quite tasty.

La Casa is my favorite Mexican Restaurant in the area. The look of the restaurant is over-the-top, even garish but the tables and booths are very large and roomy. If you have ever eaten at a Mexican restaurant the menu offers few surprises. What sets La Casa apart is that the ingredients are fresh and of good quality. They often run Margarita pitcher specials and when they bring out the glasses they'll be half filled with a little extra margarita. I have found the wait staff to be attentive and friendly; though sadly, Juvenile, our favorite, went back to Mexico.

La Casa Mexicana was really good, some of the best Mexican food I've had in this area, and the atmosphere and overall setup of the restaurant was really awesome. Everything was colorful and new. The chips and salsa were really fresh, as was the rest of my meal. The portions were huge, even though we got the "smaller" lunch portions. Yikes to the full-size dinner portion. And I love the high-backed booths with Mexican-inspired carvings that made you feel like you were sitting only with the people you could see across from you. Why the 3 stars? Maybe it was logistical stuff that a new restaurant needs to work out, but there were a few things that left a bad taste in my mouth (it certainly wasn't the food). Our waitress was way too cool for school. So cool, in fact, that she never once offered us a kid's menu, even when we obviously had a kid and were ordering for her. I didn't find out they had a seperate kid's menu until I heard the waiter at another table offer one to the parents of small kids seated there. Meanwhile Story wrestled with a huge, greasy quesadilla that was clearly adult-sized. The waitress also never really smiled or showed any kind of personality at all. I'm a stickler for service, guys. I hated serving too, but at least I took care of you. Oh! She also tried, at first, to seat us in a crowded corner booth where she literally kicked (kicked!) some kind of bucket out of the way to try and seat us. Right next to this booth was a wait station that was stuffed with straws, to-go boxes, register tape, etc. No thanks. That seat should only be made available if there are no other seats open. This place was half-full, can we sit somewhere else? The other part of this dining experience that garnered the 3 stars was the lack of space for specific things. For example, on the way to the bathroom, I was admiring the decor of the restaurant and really enjoying the artwork, when, as I turned a corner, I was greeted by an overflowing bus cart parked right outside the bathrooms. It was filled with dirty plates, half-eaten food and other grossities. I was kind of appalled that it was in such a high traffic spot. Other glimpses around the place showed a random chair stacked high with rolled silverware, that damn bucket, and other clutter on display that should have its own place in a restaurant. All that clutter added up to 3 stars only. Good food, jerk waitress.

The decor in this place is crazy! It feels like you are in a theme park. The tables are huge and take up a lot of space, hence the wait when you get there- they seat two people on a table that could seat 6! They should have thought about that better! The menu is ridiculously huge. I mean come on... how many alternatives can you make? Prices seemed okay, some of the special dishes were a bit more pricey. I got one of the specials, it starts with an M... it has a picture of it in the menu, it's a savory dish that comes in a clay pot, apparently "you have to see it to believe it" said the menu. It was okay. It was way too hot as in burning, not spicy. I waited for about 10 minutes, but it was still bubbly and boiling inside that pot. However, it was delicious! I'll go back for sure, it seems like an interesting place with the decor and all. It's good to go with a crowd! Oh and one more thing- you don't pay the server, you pay at the booth by the entrance, which was weird, we were just waiting for the waiter to come pick up the check and he didn't say anything... Ugh! Also some of the wait staff didn't really understand/speak English very well, which was irritating when I was asking questions about certain menu items... Oh well!

We've been eating here since opening week, and have enjoyed most of our visits. But not so much on a recent weekend evening. The server seemed rather distracted, looking through the window while taking our order. The most interesting thing I could see on the asphalt was a Ford Mustang. Part of the order was forgotten, and it took me nearly five minutes to get a server's attention. It's not that the restaurant was particularly busy, but rather seemed to have something to do with the Toronto vs. New York baseball game. Sometimes, I can't answer the business-tips question, "Has TV?" because I don't know. In this case, I'm quite sure there are TVs because I have clear memories of watching the staff watch them. Maybe they're Yankee fans. Maybe the server I thought was gazing out the window was actually looking at a window reflection of the TV. Or, maybe it was just a bad, tired, wish-we-were-at-a-ballgame kind of day. I don't really know. The food was ok, the drinks weekend-full-priced and ok. But the normally fine service turned inattentive and slow. It was a two-star night, but, since I'm not likely to review again anytime soon, I'll add another star to make my update more representative of my experiences through time.
