Great stop for those wanting a good meal while traveling! The service was quick and friendly and the portions large and tasty! I had the hot turkey sandwich, and much to my delight the turkey was real carved turkey - not the super processed food you normally get. Thankful to have found this gem! Cute rt 66 theme, friendly small town place!

This is a quaint little restaurant in a small town. I met my dad and step mom here for lunch. The soups were really good and I got a club sandwich, hard to mess that up. The only issue was that my dad's fish was not cooked all the way. It was essentially raw, which makes me nervous. So be careful what you order. The servers were all really nice. I feel bad that they had to wait on my dad who did not handle the fact that he was served uncooked fish very well. If I ever pass through Dwight again, I might stop by, but probably not.

I'm glad it's over. The dead cricket in the entrance was just the beginning. The flies buzzing over the tables competing for air space with the gnats was disturbing. I'll let you know if I get sick.

Holy cow! I mean...holy chicken, Batman! This is the best broasted chicken I have ever had. Ok it is the only broasted chicken I have ever had. But now I know what I have been missing and I don't think I could ever go back to fried chicken. Awesome cole slaw. We make special trips here now even though it is an hour ride from home. Everything we've ever ordered in here has been fantastic. Route 66 souvenirs are also sold here. Best little find we have ever had on one of our "get lost" road trips!

We've been here a handful of times for both breakfast and dinner. What strikes me every time is how friendly the servers are. The food is your typical diner food, and they do a good job at most of it. You usually get great portions, and they have a huge variety. A few things aren't steller (the mashed potatoes are instant, the veggies are sometimes canned), but almost everything else is very good for diner food (you can't come here expecting to bump into Charlie Trotter in the kitchen obviously!). If you are in the area or passing through and want to stop at a friendly diner for a meal, this is the place to pick in Dwight.

Anyone who knows me, knows I love these kitchy kool places. I love them even more when the food is good. We stopped here while toodlin' home from a day trip. Dwight has a lot of really neat historic buildings and is a quintessential Route 66 town. The restaurant provides both a taste of history and a taste of good old simple American food. Christopher had the pork chop dinner and I had the four wing broasted chicken dinner. The chicken was very good, as were the chops. Yes, the beans were canned, but the broasted potatoes were delicious and the meals came with a choice of soup or salad and dessert. Very reasonable and happy making. My only gripe was the strawberry rhubarb pie was not very good. Oh well. If your out cruisin' along Route 66, this is a perfect stop on your trip down memory lane.

From the outside, you wouldn't think that Old Route 66 would be a good restaurant. Like most things on the Route, it may pass off as another tourist trap. And most touristy places have crap food. The restaurant makes no bones about the fact it is a Route 66 establishment. From the waitresses uniforms, to the booths interior and lamps; this place screams "Route 66." They even have Route 66 merchandise for purchase, if you please. So how good can this place be? Well, the food was great. I had breakfast and it was quick, plentiful and so yummy. It completely blew my mind as just another place along the Route. It must be a good place to if all the locals stop in as well. Everyone was friendly and the waitresses were quick to fill up the ol' cup of joe. The place just had a nice welcome feel to it. Definitely this will be a stop when I'm driving into town again.

I have been a regular there for years even when it was the old place, Starks. We used to love it. However, its going way down hill fast. Start off with most of the waitresses seem to be worried more about social life than working. The food is slow coming and once it does its cold and greasy. On a few occasions you even get a hair!!!! The prices seem to fluctuate all the time which means going up. The atmosphere is that of a mom n pop place but it can be noisy. So, this is my opinion. But if ur experiencing RT 66 its right on it.

Great place to Stop. You will not regret stopping at this restaurant on your Rt. 66 tour. The wait staff here are wonderful, and the food is very tasty. You will fill your tummy at this stop. Make sure you check out their daily specials on the board. The prices are reasonable for the amount of food you will get. Definitely worth trying this place.

Thank you Yelpers. You've come through once again. We headed to St. Louis from Chicago and needed to eat. The thought of fast food was making me noxious after all the great food with had in Chicago. But then my wife found this listing as we were driving by. This local jaunt has a great community feel as patrons and staff greeted each other like it was a big family reunion. The staff was very friendly and helpful and all the food was great. The broasted fried chicken is some of the best friend chicken I've ever had. The breading was light and delicate, but perfectly crunchy. The meat was tender and juicy. There was not a ton of seasoning, but I really appreciated that as the chicken flavors really came through. If your in the area, definitely stop here if you can. Well worth the time.

Poppy seed chicken salad was absolutely phenomenal. The chicken was moist, tender and perfectly spiced. Fruit assortment ringing the bed of greens was a perfect compliment to the flavors. I would stop here again anytime I am nearby. Service was super fast, exceptionally friendly and polite. I like the names on their shirts so you know who is providing service.

Loved this place - clearly a favorite of locals for breakfast. The service was so fast that I don't think the average fast food place stands a chance. Sunny side up egg was cooked perfectly. Biscuits and gravy were tasty. decor nicely pulls in Route 66 theme without being too much. Very clean. Good to know places like this are still around. 2nd Dwight exit if you are driving southbound (or 1st with some turns if you want a quick Route 66 experience.

Went there this morning for breakfast and was nervous since the place was packed. We got seated very quickly and the wait staff was attentive and accommodating to requested changes to items on the menu. Although the place was very busy our food arrived much faster then we expected. I plan on going back the next time I'm in the area!

Great service very attentive Waitstaff. On the historic Route 66 . Good sized portions of traditional American fare. Had the jumbo pork tenderloin deluxe which was huge.. My wife had the Grilled Chicken Salad also a very healthy portion Extremely surprised to see the table had a selection of bread sticks and crackers like the old days.. Definitely stop here again. Across the street is a Route 66 info center

Good food, Friendly servers what else can you ask for.... Well you also get a decent deal for the price. Exit 217 off I-55 so stop in if your hungry and passing through.

Friendly staff with customers but management/owner is RUDE to their staff. I have been coming here on and off for 10 years and we are a family of 4. It cost us $10 for 2 kids and 2 adult drinks no food. We ordered KIDS meals pancakes and 2 sandwiches it was $40 for processed chicken pattie sandwiches which use to be fresh fried chicken. Very disappointed in the cost of the processed food. I can take my family to Chili's for less.

Stopped for dinner while on a trip. I ordered the pork steak dinner (it was a special, $9.99). The pork was slightly tough, but tasted great. My meal came with salad, vegetables, french fries, and dessert. Great value for the price! The server (Sarah) was helpful and friendly. The decor is a fun theme, but the interior could use a little maintenance (seat cover was torn). Fun atmosphere, good food, and great price.

Stopped here on a road trip. Ordered the BROASTED chicken and the chicken, bacon and ranch croissant. FYI: the Broasted chicken is FRIED! We thought that it was a mixture between broiled and roasted, hence the name. However it is not - it's fried in a pressure cooker. when we saw it, they were kind enough to switch it out for another croissant. The food was alright and the service was about the same. There were about 10 tables worth of patrons and 5 staff and they were still running around trying to figure it! Scarcely decorated - I think the look they were trying for is an old mom and pops Route 66 spot. However, it's more of a hodgepodge of looks smushed together kind of spot. It was an okay experience.

On old Route 66 in Dwight, IL this is a tourist and locals spot. Murals on the outside lend a funky feel to the place but once you enter it is all Americana - all the way. If you didn't see anyone using a cellphone you might not be sure if it was 1963 or 2013. If you have the time stop in for the fried chicken as it takes 25 minutes to prepare from the moment you place your order. It had that nice flavor of well seasoned oil and a teeth chattering crunchy crust. The meat was very moist. The half chicken dinner was only $9.99 with a salad, side and dessert. More than enough for two to share. A patty melt was good and a chicken breast croissant sandwich was very nice with a fresh croissant and griddle cooked chicken breast.

This was the first place we stopped in the small town of Dwight and it was a welcome surprise .. The food was delicious and everyone left full. Everything seemed homemade. Great atmosphere. The only bad thing I can even think of is the price is a little on the high side but we will definitely be back while we are visiting their town.
