You walk in and everything is white and clean. There's an orchestra-eque ensemble playing music in the back. The windows bring in all the light from outside, making this place look very pretty and inviting. A friend took me here for Sunday brunch and it was delicious! They have a buffet set up so you are free to choose whatever your heart desires. It was my first time trying eggs benedict and let me tell you, it won't be my last. The biscuits and gravy are also very tasty. Oh, and don't let the word 'buffet' scare you off. This is a very classy buffet. No running/screaming kids getting gooey substances all over the sneeze guard. This place, in general, is very classy. You can wear jeans here, but I would suggest pairing the jeans with a nicer top and some nice shoes. So JUST SAY NO -- to sweats. :)

This place is somehow outdated but classic at the same time. The Milk Pail is a classic there is no debating that. I've been here for a murder mystery dinner which was extremely theatrical and dramatic and for the Thanksgiving buffet since my mom didn't want to cook for our small group. The food here is buffet quality, but they do have more higher end options. The prime rib is outstanding, must better than other buffet places. The atmosphere is definitely small town and authentic. It's a little bit out in the middle of nowhere but it can be worth the drive if you're with the right group. This place is what you make of it really. The service isn't spectacular, you may have to wait awhile for your drink but the servers are normally stretched pretty thin as it is and I just feel terrible for anyone having to serve dinner on Thanksgiving night.

I attended a wedding here last summer. This place is disgusting. I was afraid to eat the food and was glad I had granola bars in my car so that I could eat something. The carpet is covered in gum and barely holding together. I was mortified that the couple picked this place. Even if you don't have a lot of money, there are waaaaaay better options.

If I could write negatives stars, on this I would. This place needs a visit from the Health Department. Front of the building maintenance including the parking lot is horrid. Carpeting is absolutely disgusting. The ceilings in parts of the building are peeling away. They don't appear to dust or clean anything, including the linens. Hasn't had an update in decades. They don't know how to handle a wedding and it appears once they have you money, they aren't very helpful. I would NEVER recommend this venue for anything after coordinating a wedding ceremony and reception here. They need a bank loan and to close for a month or two and redo this place!!!!!!!!! or it needs to be knocked to start over.

Waitress added 18% gratuity for buffet not cool. Way over priced. Run down never going back you guys suck. Food sucks too

They are a horrible neighbor/member of the community - they run their outdoor speakers at "11" and don't care that people living over a half a mile away can hear their over amplified music in their homes with the windows closed.

Do not go here!!! Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place! We just had my sister's baby shower here and we were terribly disappointed. Overpriced, horrible food... and TERRIBLE service. It's too bad because the place looks very cute and has so much potential, but it's obvious that there is no pride in the cooking or the serving. At fifteen dollars a plate, we were hoping for more than stale chips and soggy crossiant sandwiches. Very sad because we wanted to like this place. Host and waitstaff was MIA most of the time, drinks were almost non-existant, and food was SLOW. Iceberg lettuce salad served then guests had to wait at least a half hour for gross sandwiches. Embarrassing. To make matters worse, they failed to tell us that they had another event that day~ some sort of market probably to make up for their lack of business (due to terrible service I'm sure) ~ which made parking impossible for our guests. I should've known that this place was bunk when I called to reserve a room and they had problems with their phones, but I was being too nice. When looking for an employee (very difficult to find!) we walked in to see them eating our cake!! WHAT?! Horrible place, and very unfortunate because it really has so much potential. Needs new carpets, a good cleaning, and a whole new staff that actually cares. I feel really bad for people who have weddings or huge parties here, because we feel absolutely robbed for the small (35 people) party we had. Heed my warning and go someplace else, you will be so disappointed if you go here!

Terrible place! Stay away from this dining disaster. We had not been here for many years and decided to retry it for Easter brunch. The food was terrible - where to start? The facility is ditrty, rugs have spots on them, a room apparently used for various occasions had a ceiling showing a leak. We sat in a room where several of the window seals had broken on casement windows causing the windows to be top-to-bottom cloudy. Looking out at the gazebo in the yard I watched a worker remove stacked white plastic chairs from another function. Then, too, someone had tried to repair a ledge next to our table with pieces of wood hacked off and put on the ledge, the carpet had spots all over it and on the rugs in all the areas one found pieces of food dropped and not cleaned up. The terrible "buffet" consisted of pans of items, such a mac and cheese, whipped potatoes, dry fish, a half pan of dry chicken, carving stations with food on the floor and meat that was not only underdone but, in some cases raw. There were some dry scrambled eggs, sausages and underdone bacon. On another table was a platter of watermelon, honeydew and cantaloupe with RAW mushy shrimp - not in ice - just on the platter. The breads were a hastily sliced French-style bread, tiny store-bought muffins and cinnamon rolls. The dessert table consisted of items probably bought at a local grocery warehouse. There were not enough plastic serving pieces so the serving spoons were often used from one dish to another or left on the tablecloth, food was dripped and pieces left on the buffet tables, kids raced up to the dessert table grabbing cookies with their bare hands. Food handling should be investigated at this place - I am quite sure the Milk Pail's food handling does not meet code. Perhaps others have little experience in how food should be handled, or what a special occasion place should look like. Having a picnic on a park bench would be better than this place. The "jazz" band was an ompah sort of group, verging on polka not jazz. Someone filling our coffee wore a stained shirt and was about 12 years old. Clearly whoever is running this place is doing it without food service or banquet knowledge and on a shoestring. The saddest thing were people dressed for Easter - some saying "well, this place has certainly changed" and having to endure the terrible food and awful service in a dirty facility. Anywhere else to dine would be better than this place. One more thing: on their website they list the brunch as being $18.95 but never mentioned - or listed - that for Easter the price was raised to $25 pp. Now for $25 pp there are many wonderful choices for brunch in and around Chicago. A waste of your hard-earned money if you go here.

I hate to do a bad review about this place since it's always been one of our favorites ever since I was young, however.....I'm pretty sure they haven't updated this place since then. Very run down, dirty carpet and floors, food everywhere, very unclean. The brunch was not worth the money. The items were 3 types of potatoes, corn, rice, noodles, more pasta, and some bacon and sausage. There was a huge cheese tray, some prepared salads and a very scary bowl of lettuce. There was a carving station but the meat was fatty. The omelette station was ok but there should have really been more breakfast items. The dessert area was pretty good. But all in all, it was really disappointing. I don't think we will go there again and I was really embarassed taking my mom there yesterday. The owners and staff let their children run around all over the restaurant also. Not very professional. It was also freezing and we asked for heat and they apparently ignored us so I had to keep my coat on all the time. And the dress code is not in force either ranging from flipflops, t-shirts and on up to nicely dressed people coming from church. So sad a place like this could be so much better.

The banquet rooms are quite inviting - the windows bring in so much natural light and provide a beautiful garden view. The food was pretty good too compared to most wedding food. The bar drinks were not watered down. Not bad at all!

I went here for brunch having not been for about 10 years and it was "OK"; the jazz band sang about three songs the entire time we were there. It was a bit of a ghost town. There was a wide variety of food to choose from and about on target for a good "champaigne brunch".
