Arthurs is worth the drive.

Look, I grew up with Arthur's way before there was subway or jimmy johns or potbelly. It has ruined me for all other sandwich chains. I'm going to be honest - I've ordered only one sandwich from there since childhood - the ham, pepperoni, mozzarella. My family has had every sandwich, soup and baked potato they make and we all have our favorite. I can't imagine any meat and cheese combination trumping the ham, pepperoni, mozzarella. That noted, I never felt there was any need to deviate. People from all over the place long for Arthur's. - word of mouth is incredible. People that went to the University of Iowa, people that have had any reason to get of the interstate at Dixon, people that know anyone from Dixon, Sterling, Rock Falls, the University of Iowa . . . You catch my drift. Place is an institution.

Came off the highway but it was worth it! Delicious food, clean restrooms. The baked potato options are truly unique.

The sandwiches here are awesome. And, they also have the best frozen yogurt. This is way better than any of the chain sandwich shops.

Stopped for a quick lunch before a concert in Lowell Park. The place was very clean, the staff was attentive and personable. The food was very good. Service was quick. We will be sure to stop in again when we're in the area. Nice job people!!

I guess we went with a Deli theme on this last road trip. Checked out Arthur's (which is a small, local chain in the Dixon area) and were not disappointed. Fast, friendly service and great value. I had a pastrami sandwich with extra pickles, Arthur's signature hot mustard, some mayo and melted swiss cheese. Definitely hit the spot. Tried some of their pasta salad on the side -- pretty standard but they crammed a ton of it in the "small" dish they served it in. Now that's a true side. Worth the drive through town from the interstate for anyone road tripping East or West on I-88. A hell of a lot better than the same old corporate fast food.

Unique for sandwich shops. A local favorite. Salad bar and great baked potatoes too.

Consistently great food! Sandwich and baked potato options. Nice environment and/or drive-thru. If this is the type of food you're looking for, it can't be beat.

Mouth-wateringly, insanely good. I grew up in Dixon and was used to getting Arthur's at least once a week. Once I moved away, my cravings nearly got out of control - and I know I'm not alone. Whenever a holiday weekend rolls around, the place is bursting at the seams with people who are back in town for the weekend and looking to get their "fix." I can't quite put my finger on what it is - the high-quality meats and cheeses, the breads that are so fresh, soft and light that they almost melt in your mouth...whatever it is, it's magic! I mean, this place even has TWO fan groups on Facebook: "I Love Arthur's Garden Deli But Am So Far Away from My Love" and "Arthur's Withdrawal: I Miss Contributing to the Wolber Family College Fund." Don't say I didn't warn you, though - one bite and you'll be hooked!

Always, always catch this place on my way back from a sales trip to Davenport or Des Moines. Awesome sandwiches and delicous soup. I also really enjoy the fresh salad bar with the wide array of offerings. You guys rock!

Good food. Lots of sandwiches, soups, and potato styles to choose from. I had the turkey and bacon sandwich with a cheese and bacon potato. It was definitely a meal with the portions you get!

I grew up nearby Arthur's and my family and I have been eating here since their doors opened. In fact, I am almost certain that my family has given more money to Arthur's than to any other restaurant. I moved away a few years ago and have since lived in Los Angeles, California and Portland, Oregon, two cities that are renowned for their food. As a sandwich-guy, I have tried many of LA and PDX's best sandwich shops, and I can proudly state that nobody does it like Arthur's. In fact, out of the very few things I miss about living in Northwestern Illinois is eating at Arthur's. And it's not just a nostalgia thing for me either. Arthur's really does, dare I say it?... yes..., have some of the best sandwiches in the country. The soft bread, the thinly sliced lettuce, the quality cuts of meat and cheese they use, the fresh toppings... I've never had anything quite like it no matter how hard I look. And although Portland's renowned Bunk Sandwiches has mouthwatering menu items such as, for example, the Korean Pork Shoulder sandwich (with house kimchi, cilantro, chili mayo, and lime), I still find myself longing for a good old fashioned Arthur's #1. Arthur's also has amazing chili. Their soups are fantastic too, but I had at least a decade-long love affair with Arthur's chili throughout my youth. Get it with cheese and onion on top. Oh, and their employees are typically among the friendliest there are. Always kind. With as many times as I've eaten at Arthur's, with as much money my family has spent there over the years, with as much longing I still feel for their food, I have to say that I feel a sort of love for Arthur's Garden Deli. I will continue to search Portland high and low for a sandwich that I like just as much as Arthur's, but I don't know if that day will ever come. But one thing is for sure: I haven't been home to Ogle county Illinois in over 3 years, but the moment I do, I will make a B-line for Arthur's and gorge myself on their chili and sandwiches.

Was recommended from a co-worker while coming in from out of town. Got the "work of art" absolutely amazing. Price was reasonable. Will definitely be coming back. Note: they don't accept discover cards but all other cards I believe.

Hubby & I were intrigued by the frozen yogurt flavor (Nestle Crunch) advertised on their billboard. "Disappointing" is all we could say. It is chocolate yogurt served with Rice Krispie cereal. We had cones, so were given a 1/4 cup of cereal on the side. Reallly, Arthur's I think you can do better!

Arthur's trumps all other sandwich places! I LOVE these bundles of love! They do it just right! Great bread, awesome cheese and good portions of meat! Bad day at work...I go to to Arthur's for a get away treat! Thank you Arthur's for cheering up my day!

The bf and I were looking for a good place in the small town of Dixon to have lunch at and I ran across this on Yelp! I'm so glad we decided on Arthur's cause the sandwiches, which didn't look very special, actually were really delicious. I had the #3, mmm. My boyfriend didn't enjoy their hot mustard at all. He ended up scraping that off, lol. We also had one of their potato bowls, #21 or #23.. I don't really remember, but my boyfriend enjoyed it because of the pile of cheese melted on top of it! Good food, good prices. Can't go wrong.

This is a local favorite. I would go there often when I was a high school student in Dixon & initially working in Sterling IL

One of the few good and simple places to eat in Dixon. Been around for 10-15 years. Always has the cutest girls working. Fresh sandwiches and soups. Got to try the yogurts.

Well, this place was a suprise. I was recommend to stop in for lunch and was pretty impressed. Old school deli/cafeteria style where you order your sandwich and either pick from a bunch of homepade pasta salads or make your own salad buffett. Even the fresh fruit was delicious :)

Growing up in Dixon I never really realized how good Arthur's was. Now that I moved away its one of the restaurants that I must have every time I come home. Great sandwiches, potatoes with everything you can think of for toppings and great service. Try it you won't be dissapointed!!

I have become more enamored of Arthur's as of late. The corned beef I had was a symphony of delightful tastes. The tuna salad was a deep sea delight. I'm hooked!

As an employee here for 5 years during highschool/college, I can still say it is a fantastic restaurant with amazing food that just never gets "old". During the cold months, they offer up to 9 amazing soups and chili that are made fresh throughout the day. The sandwhiches are delicious and can come on white or wheat bread and in a small 4 inch round bun, or a "regular" 6inch bun. The cheeses and meat are sliced fresh every day as well as the veggie toppings. The hot mustard offered on sandwhiches is delicious. All of the sandwhiches are served with a spray of vinegar, a squirt of oil, and a shake of oregano. To skip this option, order your sandwhich with "no shakes and sprays." Fresh pasta salad is also offered and comes in plain, garden, and italian during the summer months. Another delicious option is to order a baked potato in many different topping options. All are amazing and very filling! You can also get quiche or enjoy the fresh salad bar. Finish off your meal with some frozen yogurt piled with a variety of toppings and served, if you like, in a fresh waffle cone bowl made fresh daily. Arthurs also offers several other types of salads (ambrosia, potato salad, cottage cheese), huge chocolate cups, and fresh fruit bowls. A must visit when coming to Dixon!!

I think Arthur's has been around since the 1970s. I remember my grandma (and yours Matthew K.) taking me there as a really little kid and me getting a pepperoni sandwich and wanting to puke. Anyway, it was much better as I got older.

Great, fresh food cheap. Good service - they seem to find the best and friendliest employees. Go early, go often...

The food here is spectacular. That is if you like baked potatoes in as many varieties as you can concoct. The sandwiches are excellent as well, and incredibly healthy, made to your custom specifications. The price is reasonable too. You can also find a large selection of ice cream and desserts, as well as a salad bar. Parking is a snap too. What more could you want?
