    Best authentic Mexican Food! Sure, the inside is a little dingy but that's why my husband picks our food up at least once a week and brings it home. Their green salsa is the best! If you love onions and super fresh cilatro then these will be the best tacos you've ever had!

    I live in South Texas so I am very accustomed to authentic Mexican Food. It's tough to find comparable food to what I am used to but if this place was in S Texas I would be a regular visitor. Great Carne Asada plate, Tostados, etc.

    Casual is putting it mildly, this is a top-notch dive...Probably seats no more than 25, every time I go, there is a line. Nothing costs more than $8.25-that's for a dinner. Everything else is under $5. Tacos, quesadilla, burritos, huaraches,(steak, chicken, tongue, chile rellenos or veggie) sopes. It's a good sign if in a Mexican restaurant, you actually see hispanic people eating there...otherwise, you must be in Taco Bell. I'm eating a steak burrito as I write this....oh, so f-ing goooooooooood! It's an orgasm wrapped in a tortilla, and so cheap! It must weigh a pound at least, only $4.95.     This was my goto taco spot when I lived in Mount Prospect. The carne asada tacos were all made from rib eye and were always cooked perfectly. There was a little bit of a wait durng the lunch hours but it was definitely worth it. The closest I've found to this is the taco spot next to Kingston Mines on Halsted.

    Classic, home-style Mexican food. The type that one's mom would make in the kitchen or the street vendors in Mexico. A burrito is as plain as can be and quite delicious. Choice of meat (I highly recommend the steak), onions and some cilantro, and you're good to go. Get some lime and throw on some green sauce and it's one of the best home style, authentic Mexican burritos you'll find around Chicago. If you need sour cream, tomatoes, guac, etc. then make it the super burrito and it's just as tasty. One of the best taco joints around Chicagoland for sure.

    Went in for lunch at this place this past Saturday, this is Des Plaines best kept secret. Walking in, the place is filled with a tempting scent of mexican food, which I can't explain, but when I walked in my mouth instantly started to water. I got a steak burrito, and a bottled soda. For what you pay, the food is great and tastes better than El Famous (which I have tried). Their steak burritos taste better than El Famous. The bill for my brother and I eating there was $18.59 total, for two delicous steak Burritos, and two bottled cokes. It can get pricey, but as long as the food tastes good, I don't mind. Five stars.

    The food is good, the steak is tender and tasty. It's a hole in the wall and they charge quite a bit, but it is good overall. They need to add Chips and Salsa to their menu and maybe a red salsa for burritos as well.

    No manchen! My fellow Mexicans would agree that this place is a disgrace to us all. One of the company's locations for whom I work for was short staffed so I went to help out. Lunch time was arriving and I was craving some authentic Mexican food. I took some advice from my coworkers and took a leap of faith. I ordered una torta de asada and it came out to be a few cents short of $8! Abusan de la gente! They knew that I was aware of being ripped off but I convinced myself that I was helping a local business out. My mistake! I asked for salsa roja and to my dismay they only offered salsa verde. I got in my car and prepared myself for whatever was about to happen. Where do I even begin?! The bread was soggy because they used frijoles de la olla. The steak was nothing but fat and a sorry excuse of one tiny piece of "good" meat. I finished it only because I felt guilty that I had just paid that much. I felt sick the second I finished and now I sit here, at work with a stomach ache. I will never recommend this establishment to anyone. ¡qué asco!

    I've never been so disappointed with a hole in the wall Mexican food joint. I opened up a Yelp account just to say how bad this place is. I ordered a steak torta; couldn't chew the steak, didn't even taste grilled and there were pieces of fat that were unchewable. Ordered a side of rice that tasted like it was microwaved. My bf ordered the steak burrito and said it was eh. I give it one star bc the horchata was yummy. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It is super expensive for the quality of food. Everything we ordered came out to be $22. I kept looking at Taco Village as I ate.

    I am sorry for the BAD review but I just finished a carne asada burrito that I paid $8.83 for including tax and I am still hungry! I have been coming here for over 10 (yes TEN) years and the last 3 or 4 times I felt the portions were small. The staff is okay and the place is the same dump it has always been but COME ON! Feed a brother well if he pays full freight and is polite!!! My Spanish isn't great so I may come back with one of my kids who is fluent and see if I can politely explain that you either raise prices and maintain portion size or maintain prices and lower portion size - not both! I only get the carne asada tacos or burritos and the flavor of the meat is usually excellent but I am going to stop coming if I have to run across the street for a McDouble to fill my gullet!

    End of an era, how sad. This was always my favorite steak burrito joint, now it's garbage. Don't know what happened, but now it's the worst. Maybe if they remember how to trim, season n char the meat like they used to, they can come back.

    This place is a joke. I ordered three tacos: one steak, one chicken, and one chorizo. It was almost $11 dollars and I asked for cheese on all three of the tacos. I open up the steak taco, and notice that there isn't any cheese on it. So I walk up and ask them to put cheese on it and she gives me a cup of shredded cheese to put on my tacos. The idea was to have the cheese melted. The steak was extremely fatty, took me 3 minutes to chew it to make sure I wouldn't choke. The chorizo taco was a messy slop of grease (I realize chorizo is greasy but this was over the top) and didnt taste good at all. Just do yourself a favor and AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! :-(

    The steak tacos use to be good. The meat quality has gone down. But the customer service is the worst. There is a lady that takes the orders and there is guy that makes the tacos in the back. The lady has an attitude and is always on her phone. One time she saw me coming and went out the back door and i just waited there for 5 minutes before she came back in to take my order. I use to love their tacos but everythying has gone downhill. I go down the street at Los Torres and they have pretty good tacos there and alot better service.

    Hold up, wait a minute. Please disregard my check in tip. I am pretty sure this place has changed ownership, and if not... It has fallen off severely. At one time, and not too long ago, and for a looong time, this place rocked for steak. The prices have skyrocketed! The steak, once almost always freshly grilled with bits of char and a solid salting has devolved. The steak used to be SO GOOD that we all could overlook the microwaving of the tortillas. Now? The steak is steam tray held, mushy and salt watery. The green sauce, while always weak -is now just green slime with flotsam in it. Sorry y'all, head east to Comales, or west to La Rosita grocery store... Las Asadas on Lee as we know it... Ees dead.

    Unfortunately the quality of the food has gone down. I ordered the steak burrito as usual but this time the meat was tough and no longer seasoned the way it had been in the past. I could barely chew the steak and many pieces of fat were found. The place was empty on a Saturday at lunchtime. Now I know why. It used to be packed at this time. The green salsa was very hot and the Orange Jarritos soda was good as usual. The woman who took our order was very friendly. However, I do not plan on returning here again unless the reviews improve a great deal. This used to be our favorite place for Mexican food, but alas, no more!

    This place has great burritos. The carne asada is real, properly grilled meat of good quality. Unfortunately, the burritos are so good that I have no basis to review anything else. The place is a typical no frills small joint with good visibility into the kitchen so you can bet your food is fresh. A little pricey for a burrito (around $9) but not too bad considering it is a Mexican oasis in the burbs

    I just can't get past the filth and bad attitude at this place. 10 years ago this place was still a dump, but at least there was care taken with the appearance, food and services. The food is only so-so. I have had good and bad meals here over the years. And they don't serve tongue, but for the sharpe ones in thier heads. No lengua, no mas

    Some of the best Mexican food! The place is really a hole in the wall, don't let that scare you away. Their carne asada is so full of flavor, juicy, just so well marinated and seasoned! I have had their tortas, tacos and burritos. All quite amazing! Be aware the they put on a LOT of onions and cilantro on their tacos, so if you don't want a lot, make sure to mention it. Burritos, go with the supreme, don't waste your time with anything else! That covers the food portion, which is hands down five stars. Service, first of all, please stay open for the hours posted. It has happened on a few occasions that I got there and their doors were closed for the night. That should not happen. Also, I have been going here now for about 3-4 years. At first, the service was awesome, but recently, it appears they may have had a change of staff, which do not have the best attitudes. Has gotten better though.. In a nutshell, do you love Mexican food? Quite delicious! Don't let the skeezy motel scare you away ;)

    Definitely a hole in the wall joint. However, I've always been very satisfied with the taste of the food. I usually order the carne asada super burrito, which I can never finish in one go, because it is seriously packed with meat and fresh avocado. My biggest gripes about this place are just the pricing of the menu and the overall cleanliness. But then again, there's a reason places are called hole in the wall. Personally, I would stick to a to-go order, rather than copping a squat at one of the unwiped tables...

    Worst steak tacos ever! The steak was of a very light color, tasted funny, was grizzly and fatty and they did not even remove the membrane off the steak. If someone told me it was not steak, I would not be surprised. But I love meat and have not ever had meat like this. I am hoping I don't get sick.

    I love this restaurant. I live close and frequent it quite often. The meat is so delicious and Cooked very well. I am only giving it 4 stars for two reasons. One-tables are never clean! Two -lately the meat is not cut very well. Skirt steak when on tacos etc should be chopped well. Lately the pieces are so huge They pose a choking hazard. I think they may have changed cooks recently or something because its been like this for the last month. Other than that the food is always excellent. Tomatillo sauce is to die for.. Rice is amazing as well..

    I stopped in here on a whim because I had a taste for Mexican food and in my experience, the smaller, hole-in-the-wall type restaurants are usually the best--this was not the case with Las Asadas. I walked in to an employee mopping the floor, and seemed annoyed with my standing behind the counter to place an order. A different man took my order, and he spoke not a lick of English. The other man stepped in to translate which I appreciated, and I paid and sat down to wait for my food. I noticed while I was waiting that all the food was simply being reheated in the microwave, not cooked fresh to order. I wanted to cancel my order once I saw that, but didn't want to deal with the language barrier issue again, so I took it to go. Overall, the meat was well-seasoned and flavorful, but the rice and beans were bland. Not bad for a reheated meal, but I won't be back.

    Me likey! It seems 1000 great Mexican fast food places like this have appeared all over Chicagoland! Las Asadas is outstanding. Conveniently located right up the road from the sacred McDonald's Museum Store #1 (should you want to visit the birthplace of child obesity). Also next to the creepiest looking Motel you have ever seen. Excellent steak tacos, very authentic served complete with lime and a container of that super-spicy green hot sauce; and (very important) no giant gross hunks of gristle. As other Yelpers have stated, this is not a date night place. The decor is shabby Tijuana, but it is mostly clean and has a friendly bilingual staff. I may need to edit my review later as I am still on a quest for the best carne asada in Chicago. For now, this is the place.

    Okay, I've been coming here for years. And I finally I've had a bad enough experience to write a review. The tacos here are inconsistent, most of the time they're amazing. Some of the best tacos I've had but when they're off, they're disgusting. But today was beyond bad tacos. We ordered stuffed pepper tacos and one was from an old batch that was literally spoiled rotten. It smelled disgusting and I almost threw up. And she tried saying that it was the smell of the lime we put on it...we didn't put lime in the taco. That was the last straw for me. Never coming back. Sad to say.

    Hands down the best steak burrito I've ever had! The steak was very tasty and juicy. The steak and onions are chopped into large pieces, which was unexpected and yet enjoyable. No frills with the burrito, comes stock with Asada, beans, onions, and cilantro. I added cheese for $0.50 more. I am so excited about the burrito I just ate that I'm having difficulty gathering my thoughts to write this review. The patron in line behind me said he drove 40 mins each way just to get 4 steak tacos. It's that good! Oh yeah, the place is a little dingy and the service wasn't overly polite, but when the steak tastes that good, you are still getting 5 stars in my book. I've driven past this place 2x day for the past 5 years and can't believe this is my first time stopping in. I'll be a regular here.

    Ever ate food so good that you wish you didn't become full so you could order more? This was the case today as Las Asadas's carne asada burrito moved into the top spot of my all time favorite burrito. I discovered this place on a whim as I gave a co-worker a ride to an auto body shop in Des Plaines a few weeks ago. I noticed that the place looked like a total shack, but oddly enough I had a feeling the food would be good. I was right. So I treated myself to a burrito and a Mexican Coke, and for the next ten minutes I was in heaven. My burrito contained huge chunks of carne asada, raw onion pieces, cilantro, and fresh chihuahua cheese. Of course I added plenty of salsa verde to each bite. So simple yet magical. There's really not much more to say about it. It was just so damn good! Sure, this place is dumpy. And it's possible you may come at a time when the tables aren't the cleanest, as people are always coming and going. But the food makes up for it IMO. If you can't bare it, take the food to go.     Great steak for the burritos, and I would imagine for other fares as well. Burritos here are excellent, price is decent, and only two bad things that subtracted a star: 1) place is a bit nasty, a 1up from TBK on Harlem & the I-90, and 2) lousy hours, as it seems it closes at 8:00 pm, I think. Heard this place is owned (may not be true, though) by the folks who own La Pasadita in Chicago, so a very subjective SOME similarities in their burritos. Don't like this location? Go to the one east of Oakton & Elmhurst (not sure if its Des Plaines or Mt Prospect). Update: I've been there at least twice since, and they screwed up my order both times. I've degraded this place from 4 stars to 1. Guys there don't seem to care anymore. Also, don't go to the Oakton/Elmhurst location since I placed an order, and they locked me out since they were closing early; I could probably understand the early close, but don't make me drive more than 20 minutes to go here only to be out in the cold, literally and figuratively. I won't be going to either places anymore. Update 1/23/2008: I always like to give a place a chance, so I went back to this one on Lee Street; got my burritos, and all were mighty tasty. Got a bit of a stomach problem, but I wonder if it was because I had completely nothing in my tummy to "line" it a bit. Regardless, I might go back, but only if necessary. Still no go for Oakton - they've dissed me and I'm still stubborn about it. Lee Street has redeemed me, but only a bit since their hours still suck.

    Had the steak tacos. First of all it is dirty. They really needed to sweep up the restaurant area. Next, it is kind of expensive! 2.50 for a taco??? I frequent a few whole in the wall Mexican restaurants in the Schaumburg area, and a taco is only 1.75. Third, the steak was too chewy... not very good. And they did not give me any lime to put on top of my taco. Maybe I have been way to spoiled by better, tastier restaurants, but I won't be eating here again.

    I got a couple plain quesadillas at this place and had to have them to go since the atmosphere at the place is pretty depressing. When I was told that my order was ready, I was really disappointed at how light the bag was. The quesadillas were pretty pathetic. They looked like something that I would have made for myself in my stove top. On a positive note, they have a fridge with a pretty good selection of Mexican soft drinks. Tip to the owner: Remodel your place before thinking of expansion. You expanded to other locations but neglected to remodel one of your old locations.

    I've passed this place many times, and in a town with a variety of Mexican food options, this was not a high priority to try out. My mistake. These are the best tasting tacos I've had from any tacqueria anywhere. The steak tacos had a smoky quality, and the ground beef tacos were not like the chopped meat you get at the grocery, it was a more finely chopped version of the steak used in the steak tacos but had more char and texture. All the ingredients were very fresh. Ambiance is plain. Seating is limited, but there's outdoor tables if the weather's nice. Can't wait to go back and try other tacos!

    I already reviewed the Las Asadas on Western Ave in Chicago, and the food at this one is just as good as that one, so I will summarize by saying, BEST CARNE ASADA EVER. You will know when you get out of your car and smell the delicious marinated steak cooking on the grill (you can smell it from about a block away). go try it...NOW also...the 2 photos posted by A.W. of a Las Asadas that looks like it is in a strip mall are NOT pictures of the Las Asadas in Des Plaines. I'm not sure where that Las Asadas is, but I don't think it's associated with any other Las Asadas (or La Pasadita / Palapita, both owned by same), just the same name. The picture that looks like its taken from across the street is the Las Asadas in Des Plaines...right next to the shady motel and the original McDonalds (not pictured).

    The first two photos on this review are NOT for the same Las Asadas. Nikki C's is the one that fits. The steak tacos are delicious. The half liter Coke in a glass, complete with Spanish on the side makes any dish taste better. Even at high noon the place was quite empty, which makes this a great repeat for me. Just getting into the parking lot can be tricky.

    Utterly hit-or-miss. Sometimes they steak burrito is the BEST. Sometimes it is tough. Last time, tough. Sometimes the guys are cool, other times it's as though you are intruding on some secret club meeting. And they can be pretty stingy with things like salsas, utensils and the like. We've given up going here. It does remind me of La Pasadita a lot, but I think La Pasadita is more consistent. Least it was the years back when I lived in the city and went there. There are other good places to hit in the area. I also have to qualify this by saying steak burrito is not my top choice at a MX restaurant.

    I have been wanting to stop in here for months now, since i had heard about it on yelp. I am ALL a-boot good Mexican food. And while there no shortage of places to eat at, very few stand out. Las Asadas, you stand out! My stomach was rumbling when i spotted the Las Asadas shack. Only problem was where it is located you can only get to it going south. Obeying traffic laws are optional when my stomach is angry with me, so i timed it just right so i could go the wrong way for a 1/2 block and get to the parking lot. I made it. Ordered myself a steak burrito and a lengua taco. These are my two litmus tests for if a Mexican place will become a staple for me or not. I was waiting for my food at the counter, as you can see them cooking not 10 feet from the counter. This was a mistake, as it only made me even more hungry. But i got my food after what seemed like 45 minutes. It was actually probably 4, but it seemed like an eternity because of the cooks taunting me with the huge grill of steak. The food? Steak burrito - Probably my new favorite burrito. EVERY bite had grilled steak. Not just steak, but nicely seared grilled steak, which makes such a huge difference in taste. Now i remember being a bit disappointed with the size of the burrito, but i am pretty sure it is just because i was being selfish and not wanting my burrito to end. Lengua taco - 5/5! Best tongue taco anywhere. Very big chunks of lengua, not small charred and dry strips. And juicy. Oh my, was i loving it. Since i like 7-8 minutes away from here, i will be returning on a regular basis when the need for some good Mexican strikes me, which usually happens a couple times a week.

    Pulled up and the back door (screen and all) was propped all the way open. This is a major health code violation. Inside the employees had the music on VERY loud. There were at least 20 flies zipping around the very small dining area. Since I'm up to date on all my shots I decided to order. Steak burrito with cheese and a bottle of water was $10.25 with tax. The burrito was good but the place was really dirty, the music and the employees singing was nearly unbearable, and the food was overpriced for what I got. This place has gone way downhill the past few years.

    despite the flies the size of pigeons dive bombing my head, the cheesy accordian texmex music on the boombox in the kitchen blaring away and the feeling a huge movie type moment is about to explode here ala Q Tarantino style, this is the dive of dives... a picture if you will a moment type place, lost in the desert, an oasis up ahead, as the screen door creeks open and the local folk barely move their heads away from the grub in front of them....there it is.... the Magic Burrito!!!!! For basic, paris prison style, simple, authentic, just like you were in tijuana meals this place is la SHIZZNET!!! located conveniently next to a "Hills have eyes" type of motel for your afternoon quickies:)

    Normally, I love "hole in the wall" restaurant'z. Because let'z face it, good food doesn't come from good clean kitchen'z (as far as I know). And THIS place iz a REAL hole in the wall! So, now that we've established the exterior, think we don't need to go into the interior (which iz why I ate in my work truck, instead). The dude at the counter was nice. The menue'z variety was descent. The pricez were a lil' pricey. The food was fairly fresh, but they killed it with WAY too much damn onion! The Carne Asada iz suppose to be "the best in the area", as a few reviewerz (yes, I checked first) said. But obviously, they don't know good carne asada! The meat was tough, semi-bland, and cut into big thick chuck'z. I found the taco'z descent, but the burritos SUCKED!! The sauce wad good, but inevitably...I git mud (butt)! I really wanted this place to work out :( But on well, therez alway'z "Taco Village" across the street to check out (though I won't hold my breath). So, Sorry Las Asada'z, but I PRObably won't be back (yeeahh).

    This little taco burrito joint has got to be the best one in the Chicagoland area for hole in the wall restaurants. I usually go to pick up some mouth watering tacos twice a month. This restaurant is affiliated with La Pasadita another once of my favorite hole in the walls downtown. They taste very similar but both are excellent. With the steak tacos I usually combine them with cilantro, onion, cheese, lime and salsa verde. The Chicken tacos are quite good too and are a little bit easier on the gut. I have tried Taco Village, EL Fast Burrito, La Donita and Taco Burrito House in the area and none of them come close to the taste of the meat that Las Asadas has. Taco Burrito House is pretty darn good though I must say. One other thing, LMAO to the complaining about a sanitary restaurant, this is a hole in the wall restaurant and thats what makes it what it is. I can think of far worse things to be picky about!

    Used to be good, but now its very dirty, there are a lot of flies and the service was unfriendly. Another couple came in, ordered and then had to leave because it was so dirty and there were too many flies.

    Ordered the cheese Quesadilla, corn tortilla was nice a crispy and the cheese good and gooey! The steak tacos were delicious! The steak had a little fat, but that just makes the meat more tender and tasty. The restaurant itself is nothing special, very plain with Mexican tunes playing on the radio. Still good amount of tables and booths if you want to eat in. I would come here again! Next time will try a Burrito!

    Bland food. Unhygienic. No atmosphere. It may be a step up from Taco Bell because they use real meat (and lots of it), but the carne asada burrito was salty, bland and expensive at $8, which included an extra fee for a few sprinklings of cilantro. Describing the atmosphere as divey is generous--dirty and gross is more accurate with missing floor tile, aluminum foil stuffed into broken porcelain. No tortillas, flavorless salsa verde (green sauce) and sliced avocado instead of guacamole. I write this review at 2 am with a stomach ache from all the salt and fat. One of my neighbors in the area raved about the place, but apparently he has never been to a tacqueria in the city.

    Although the outside looks very iffy, the food is incredible. My family goes there constantly and it never disappoints. I suggest getting steak tacos & rice. The chunks of meat are thick and adding some green sauce definitely does the trick for the rice. One difficulty though is if you do not speak Spanish, it is a little difficult to understand sometimes and difficult to order.

    They put cheese on my tacos when I asked for no cheese. Damn you, Las Asadas! You would have been so perfect otherwise! Well, except for the decor... The place is tiny, ugly, and there is very little seating. But you know what!? WHO CARES!? It's all about the food anyways, right? Right. This place has delicious, authentic Mexican food! Num nums... I got the chicken tacos (I am trying to watch my weight... fatty needs to trim down), and their chicken tastes lean, clean, and fresh. They don't drench it with sauce as I've noticed most places do. Just nice, white meat chicken breast cubes. The chicken was yummy yummy. They put a lot of onion (MY FAVORITEEE!!) and I got to have my cilantro & lime. My food did not taste greasy or fatty. It was delicious and clean. My mother got the steak tacos with cheese and sour cream and she said they were AWESOME! Super authentic tasting! Nice chunks of steak, too! Num num. Rice & beans were pretty standard... she said they could use a little more cheese on top. Las Asadas, you have topped Los Amigos for my favorite Des Plaines taco spot. CONGRATS! I want to eat myself into oblivion on their food... mmmmmm. Me gusta mucho!

    This is a classic down-and-dirty Mexican grub hut. If you can get passed the lack of ambiance and decor, you will find really autentico tacos y burritos from Mexico right here. I have eaten at many a taco stand (including La Palapita, Birra Huentitan's and several in Mexico itself) and Las Asadas has been consistently one of the best. The carne asada is really tasty and flavorful. I personally like adding cilantro, cheese, and onion to my burrito and lots and lots of lime. Their cinnamony rice drink called Horchata is also very good. Not stupid-sweet which sometimes is more typical at Chicago area taco huts. My recommendation is to go during more active times. I have found that going on really off hours (such as a half hour before close) can sometimes mean a dry meat and "tired" accouterments. My other tip is to speak a little Spanish when ordering. When you do, the service is more warm and friendly and you can sometimes get more food for your money, too!

    If the lunch line out the door doesn't give it away, this place is awesome. Typical taco shop ambiance, but really good steak anything. Tacos, burritos, tortas, you name it..Barbacoa tacos are also good. If you go during lunch, be prepared to wait in line..

    The food ok, but why they do not have taco dinner? and pork meat? and the rice is warm... and the bean is warm. i want it fresh and hot food, the food id average....

    Got a steak burrito today... so good! Their marinade is really really good. I will say that it's incredibly greasy though, the grease kept dripping out of the burrito as I was eating it, and a one point I tipped the burrito over to POUR OUT the grease. I don't know if the grease is from the steak or the refried beans, could be both. But still, probably the best steak burritos in the area.
