This is a pretty solid place to grab lunch on a weekday. I headed here with three other co-workers. One was already seated when I arrived. Our waiter came by pretty quickly and took our drink order. To eat, I had a buffalo chicken sandwich with tater tots. Everything was pretty good. How can you go wrong with tots? I had ordered my chicken grilled instead of fried, and I was glad to see it arrived cooked correctly. One co-worker had the lettuce wraps appetizer as her meal, and it looked really good. There was more than enough food to make the wraps into a meal. I would order that the next time I go. It wasn't super busy, but it was lunch on a weekday. I heard it's a pretty popular place for after work drinks and dinner, because of its proximity to the train station.

Great spot if you like a huge menu with a wide variety of food. Parking is easy at night, but during lunch hour it can be a little hard to find, but luckily they have valet service! The food is delicious! I have gotten, chicken sandwiches, fries, lettuce wraps (that are huge and delicious), s'mores, yup you read it right, s'mores that you can make at your table. You get a burner, marshmallows, graham crackers, Hershey's chocolate. You can get it for two people or four, which is plentiful. Get the four only if you are with a big group, there's more than enough to go around. All of their desserts are fabulous, but the s'mores are my fave, because where else are you allowed to have a small open flame at hour table to make a delicious campfire treat?! Service is good. The meals come out super fast. The prices are good for the huge portions you get. The best part is in the summer since they have rooftop outdoor seating. It really feels like you are transported to a different place then Deerfield up there, just lovely. Even if the train goes by its still lovely. If you don't want to sit in the dining area you can sit at the bar area where you can also enjoy food, and watch games on their many flat screens. Come for the food, stay for the game!

Trax gets mixed reviews on Yelp, but I didn't experience the same issues as others. Maybe they listened to us yelpers?! I came on a Sunday night to watch my team. The place has a ton of tvs and shows even the more obscure games. We sat down immediately and had a nice view of the Green Bay Packers(even when the Bears were playing simultaneously). Our server came by right away with menus and beer specials. The restaurant is really a hybrid of a bar and a restaurant. I've only ordered pub food, but it's always been good. I ordered the Rueben this last time and it was fantastic. We also ordered the new revolution brew that was on special for $4 a brew. Although it is a hybrid bar/restaurant there were tons of families with small children. The restaurant was very accommodating to families. We were pleased with the service, drink specials, food and atmosphere. The attire is very casual, plenty of parking, and an overall fun vibe. I'll be back.

I was surprised by the fact that this place was not very crowded! Trax has been around for awhile and it's quite the hit in deerfield. I came here tonight with my dad and had a great time. We were immediately seated and, even better, the booths have their own tvs! I've never seen that. I was so impressed...I sort of felt like an old fart. Anyways, on to the food. The food was just okay. Definitely your typical bar food. I ordered the chopped salad with blue cheese dressing and my dad ordered the grilled cheese. I must say they give large portions which is quite nice! I was shocked when they came to serve us. I literally felt like each plate was family size! My salad was just okay, but hey it's a salad right? I don't know maybe I'm just really picky on my salads. You never hear people rave about salads, but the salad at wildfire is to die for. You can call me a salad fanatic. My dad said his grilled cheese was alright. Again, nothing worth raving about. Despite the okay food, I can see why people would come here. It has many tvs and a large drink selection. I'll admit, I may come back in the future.

Aside from a decent kids menu, the choices here may be considered "bar food" at best. Our server did not get the order right and items were missing on the entrees. No beans and rice with the taco. Forgot an order of soup. The homemade hummus was plentiful but dry. We will not return.

Decent food and ok service! If you take the train its an after work hot spot! Kinda $$ for what you get!

A place I have been going to routinely at least once a week since 2007. Although the menu does get boring at times , we keep finding ourselves right back there every week. The food is good but the service is second to none . The bar is always full and the patio in the summer is pretty sweet. Make sure you are a fan of little kids and lots of them because this is a KID friendly zone ! I would have rated it perfect stars if they were to change the menu more frequently .

Good food, terrible service. Ordered food at halftime of a soccer game and got it at room temperature AFTER the game. $7 for a beer in the suburbs seems a little excessive as well.

My neighbor recommended this place. Where do I start? First of all, I'm a great tipper. Never less than 20-25%. But when we (my son and I) were being seated, the server Michelle gave a little head shake No. She didn't want us in her station. Then my pizza was soggy and limp. My son's dinner was edible only because he's 6+ feet tall and will eat anything. Haven't been back. Probably won't be. Food was mediocre at best. Service was not good. No reason to return.

My wife and I visited here on a whim on a warm day in July. We saw the rooftop patio and were close by so we thought we would check it out for dinner. Aside from the hostess, who was very friendly, it felt like the staff would rather be doing something else. They all looked bored and were just going through the motions, including the kitchen staff which put out some extremely mediocre food. I had a panini which tasted of old meats and was just terrible. It was supposed to come with an aioli sauce. When I mentioned this to the waitress, she looked like she had no idea what I was talking about and brought me regular mayo. The rooftop patio, which we were looking forward to, seemed like an afterthought despite the great view. It was almost as if they ran out of money when they decided to open it. It was very sparsely decorated and even more sparsely staffed. It is really too bad that this place didn't cut it, because it would be awesome to have a great sports bar putting out great food in downtown Deerfield, especially with the great rooftop patio for during the summer. But as it stands right now, especially since you can get great food at a lot of places in the area, we won't be coming back.

Stopped in to watch the Blackhawks game. 45 screens to watch, some big and some are small. Bartender is friendly and knows his stuff. Tons of draft beers and fairly priced, too. Traxs is the best bar experience in this area. I can't wait to have a nice summer eve on their roof patio.

The worst service I have ever received in my life. The staff is terrible and you only see them once or twice the whole meal. I went with a friend once and the waitress brought our bill before we could ask for another drink. When we asked to split the bill, the waitress yelled at us and told us we have to ask at the beginning of the meal. I've never once in my life had to do this anywhere but at Trax. The food is very average and not worth dealing with the horror of the staff. Find a different place to eat!

I was in town and my niece wanted to go here. I really enjoyed it and so did my niece. She got pizza which came very quickly. She thought it was delicious. I had the fajitas which I would skip next time. I recommend the chicken finger dinner which is a decent amount of food. Also, try the s'mores, kids love to make them.

Found this place on yelp. I was just in the area and wanted to grab a bite to eat. Read the reviews thought I would give it a shot. I walk in the hostess and waitress was just standing in the front talking. I had to greet them and asked where I could be seated. They told me anywhere. Once we sat down the waitress gave us the menus today is the specials for the day, mind you she told us the wrong specials, and said she would be back took her about 10 minutes to come back. We told her were ready to order. We had to change our drink order since she told us the incorrect special. She then got our new drink order and walked away after we told her that we were ready to order food. Then she said she had to go and get her pen and paper to take our order down. When telling her what we wanted to eat she did not ask how we wanted our meat cooked, did not ask what sides we wanted. Also once we got our beers from tap they were flat. The food was good. We are burgers no way to really mess that up. Personally would not suggest anyone to go there. Don't find myself returning either.

This was the location where I had my first date with my boyfriend. We wanted to get a quiet drink so we could talk, which was not quite possible due to random commotion. However, there are plentiful TVs and random drunk people who want to buy you drinks!

Decent sports bar conveniently located near the train station. Decent drink selection with okay prices and a full menu. They do have many sprecher sodas available however if you are into craft soda instead of craft beer. Also, the bucket of tots is a great deal if you want to feed a small party for only 7.50

I went there for lunch with a group of co-workers. We made reservations, just to be sure they could accommodate us. We asked to sit on the rooftop, & they said "no problem". We went up there and there were about 5 tables occupied...with one waitress serving all of them. We waited to place our drink order, & then waited even longer to place our food order. The food took forever to come out. I haven't waited that long at a lunch spot before. Had I known how long this would all take, I would have suggested we order our food when she took our drink orders. Shame on us for that one. The food was really good, which is why I gave it 3 stars, but they need more waitstaff. I felt bad for our waitress. She was running around the entire time. I don't know if I would go back...certainly not for lunch.

It's a decent family place and the service is quick and friendly. It's still bar food, but good quality bar food. Plenty of activity for the kids (TV, coloring material) and easy in and out for a weekday. Weekend is busier and you will need to use the valet. Otherwise, large menu to choose from and never go hungry.

The whole point of Trax is a sports bar for families with kids (or sports-loving dads with kids for that matter). If you don't fall into the target demographic, you may be disappointed. But they do very well for me, I must have been a half dozen times (always with kids), and no complaints on service. The food is perhaps not gourmet but the selection is wide, and it's as good bar good as you can get. Children get offered crayons and specially packaged cups with drinks, so it's easy for them to stay happy (and kids' menu is great value). I am a fan of the concept.

While we do love Trax, we have called four times now and tried for delivery service. They constantly advertise delivery, however it seems like every weekend we call for delivery, they aren't. It is a bit frustrating for those who are hoping to use delivery service and I feel they shouldn't advertise it. Food is good, though! We will continue to order and pickup, but have been disappointed pretty consistently with their lack of delivery.

My family and I used to go to Trax years ago and enjoyed it a lot. My wife and I went last night and were immediately reminded why we stopped spending our money here many years ago. The SERVICE is HORRIBLE. The WAITSTAFF IS UNFRIENDLY AND UNATTENTIVE. As we waited to order a drink, we debated whether or not to leave. The vibe there is really bad. No amount of TVs can make up for the fact that the male bartender with the mustache hates his job and his co-workers. Dysfunction Junction is a more apt name for this train wreck of an establishment.

Great local sports bar. Lots of TVs and nice atmosphere. The food is better than you average sports bar. It could be better but hey it's a sports bar so it's way above many in its category. I like sitting at the bar. The dining room isn't for me but nice for families.

Went to Trax on Wednesday night to watch the Bulls game. A friend and myself sat at the bar. The bar and the restaurant were crowded because of the game. They only had two bar tenders to take care of the bar and the restaurant. The bar tenders were overworked, they never asked us if we wanted another drink, we always had to tell them we wanted another drink and it took a long time to get their attention. I will not go back to this bar. Management needs to get their act together and properly staff the bar.

A very nice sports bar and maybe it's b/c it was a Monday night, but service was excellent and the food was really good. It's a little on the pricey side, but would definitely go back. The waitress, Corrine(sp?) was very nice and friendly. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich on a pretzel bun and my friend had the pulled pork, also on a pretzel bun. Mine was huuuge and was pretty good, but could only handle half (Had to save room for dessert). Definitely try the mac&cheese triangles and sweet potato tots. Both absolutely amazing and the dessert, turtle cookie dough ice cream pie...yummm!

Your basic sports bar with enough TVs to give you ADHD and food that's filling but not particularly flavorful. I had the turkey burger and sweet potato fries and they were certainly ok but nothing to return for.

    (2)
  • Doug R.

Found it kind of odd that their burgers didn't come with a bun but that was when I was last there, which was a number of years ago. Maybe it's different now. Food was good, reasonably priced. I may return here someday, just not anytime too soon.

I came here Saturday night with a few friends after visiting a friend of mine who lived in the area. We sat down at the bar and ordered a few beers and the sampler while we waited for our beers. The place in general seemed pretty dead with a large clusters of people scattered around. The sampler platter was just, eh. The mozzarella sticks and onion rings were the best thing there and they were just okay at best and the potato skins being not very good. The person I thought wass a manger was joking with someone who I thought was a customer but then he moved from his table to behind the bar and then back. Basically, it feels like everyone there is on a joke but if you're not in on it, it's not that fun to be there. We had two beers and left as soon as we could get a check.

This sports bar is very popular with locals after work. There are video screens galore and daily drink specials which are a bargain. Most of the food is average, but I really liked the fried pickle spears. The rib tips are ok. It's a fine place to catch a drink with your buddies.

Always wanted to go here. Lot's of TV's for all games. Got there and it was packed with kids from 6 to 11 years old. Must have a cheap kids meal. Maybe I should have gone for that. I ordered chicken parm (meal not sandwich). It was ok. Tried to substitute/upgrade included salad or soup for French onion soup....nope. Gave me a salad and charged me full for the soup. Then I asked to sub included pasta for fries, and asked to bring me fries either way. Brought me spaghetti and no fries. Said he could not sub. Wife and daughter both ordered steak tacos. 3 on a plate. They each ate one, I tried one, and did not finish it. It was awful! I doubt I will ever go back.

Tater tots, raspberry tea and decent beer selection. Good burgers. Great chicken parm sandwich. Plenty of tvs. Rooftop area open in good weather if you want to get away from the tvs.

My friend and I usually try to meet for lunch about once a week and are always looking for a new place to try. Unfortunately we didn't look at the reviews for this place before we ate here. We came about 11:30, one of the only people there. We were seated promptly and our waitress quickly asked for our drink orders. She came back three times to see if we were ready order, we were only there for about four minutes and weren't able to read the menu fast enough it seemed. We finally ordered (after what seemed to be an agonizing five minutes for our waitress). My friend ordered a Double Decker Grilled Cheese and I ordered the Lemon Chicken which came with soup or salad. I ordered the soup. We also ordered an appetizer of fried pickles. The fried pickles were great, we gobbled them up, unfortunately this was the highlight of our visit. My soup came (cream of mushroom) and it was decent until I got down to the bottom. A very thick course hair hid itself in the creamy puddle on the bottom of my bowl. I gagged. I pulled the hair out and was disgusted. I quickly made the waitress aware of the hair and my distaste for it and she didn't seem to care. She took the bowl away quickly and after this she didn't visit our table very much. We assumed that maybe she would tell the manager, but if I held my breath for that I would have asphyxiated, cause we never say a manger. While we were waiting for our order two other tables were seated and placed their orders. Our waitress seemed to avoid our table and took the other tables orders, she did so while resting her butt all over the adjacent tables, disgusting. We waited for our meals and saw that the two tables seated AT LEAST 25 minutes after us received their food. We were confused and hungry. We overheard that one table ordered a very well done steak and they got theirs before us? Even though we only ordered chicken and a grilled cheese. FINALLY our food came. I was already jaded with my opinion for the food by now. My friends grilled cheese was burnt on one side, hard to mess up a grilled cheese, but they manages to do so. My food was okay. Rice pilaf was okay. All the while we were still waiting that maybe a manager would come over and apologize for the hair in our food, but nope, nothing. We got done with our food and the waitress left the check. She didn't seem at all happy today or even enjoy her job. We definitely will not be coming back. Their lack of customer service/concern was the most unappetizing thing about our experience.

I used to like this place. Not really sure what happened to it. The last two times I went the service was horrible. The first of the two times we sat on the roof with friends over the summer. It took forever to get a servrer and then our food took forever and was wrong. The manager was yelling at all of the employees but reffused to actually do anything. The last time I went was recently to watch the Hawks game. Our waitress was so cold, and just wanted us out of there so she could chat with her friend. Not cool considering between 2 people we had a $50+ bill. When we asked for desert she seemed annoyed. In addition, the white pizza was one of the most bland pizza's I have ever had.

Here is the numerous issues about dining with Trax. Firstly, this restaurant has absolutely no idea how to deal with large crowds. To give an example, my father and I went to eat at Trax one night when the power in town went out and the unamused and dissatisfied host led us to our table.... We were led into kiddy hell. There were endless amounts of kids and parents sitting in the restaurant. Unlike civilized parents they let their children run free. There were kids pushing down chairs, running around the restaurant, yelling, screaming, crying. It made me and all the other patrons want to pull their hair out. You could not hear anyone sitting across or next to you at your table without raising your voice to an extremely ridiculous level. Management was confronted a VAST amount of times complaining about the kids and the noise level. Absolutely NOTHING was done. We could not enjoy our food at all so once we actually received our food 50 minutes after it was ordered as soon as it reached our table we had to ask them to pack it up so we could take it home. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE for ANY restaurant. Restaurants should hold any patrons to a level of respect. They should've been kicked out or told to quiet down. Secondly the service is horrible. Most employees seem incredibly unhappy or dissatisfied with being there and obviously that creates a bad feeling in the restaurant. They need to be trained better and have good qualifications when you notice a server ask you multiple times if you're ready to order within 7 minutes they aren't trained correctly, or if they never come to your table, or if they can't handle an unhappy customer correctly. Thirdly, their food is not terrible, but it isn't good. The pizza is somewhat good but it's greasiness is terrible. It once dropped off my pizza- ew. Sometimes their food isn't cooked correctly (undercooked or overcooked) their food is never consistent. The full problem with Trax is that they are never consistent, you can never trust the restaurant to be acceptable. It is always a toss and a restaurant should always be CONSISTENT.

We came here for lunch, the service was fast considering we had a large group and the amount of people that they had in the place. I had the veggie burger and tater tots and I couldn't complain. The only thing I could say is parking is a disaster, however they offer free valet. The place is nice and food was good. Price is a little a pricey, but for the service i wouldn't mind.

Trax is a neat place. The food is pretty good. The service is nice too. I enjoyed my visit and I recommend this restaraunt if you want a casual night out. I also enjoyed the rooftop as well.

Service was horrible food even worse. The first and last time I go to that place call restaurant they need to train the servers. the bartender gave me a nasty drink the glass was kind of foggy my guess is the owner has no clue how to run a restaurant the food came out of cans like cat food and make frozen pizzas. Hire professional staff not kids out high school that don't know the first thing about service and hire a chef a professional chef not a chef that makes can food.over all I will not recommend you to eat or drink there unless of curse you like can food and horrible service

Usually a solid spot. Food is pretty decent. Bar is good for sports but the bar clientelle can be hit or miss. Plenty of good beer and drinks to choose from. We have not experienced a bad food item yet. Saw another table get the smores dessert - looked like an awesome idea for a group. They get an F for St Patricks Day though: The wife and I step out last night to find some Irish. The wife picks a nearby sports bar that is pretty decent. We get in there, dead, I ask, any patty day specials, no. Instant Fail. Is it me? Wth is wrong with these places? Why not try to commercialize and profit from the day, everyone does from every other day. So the most Irish I was able to find was a pint of Guinness. So sad.

Trax is a place we visit often, maybe twice per month, maybe more. It is close to home. It is very kid friendly supplying crayons, an activity kid's menu, and a large piece of butcher paper on the table that can be drawn upon. There are many TV's with a wide variety of games on. They would get four stars, but the food quality can vary, visit to visit, from great to just average. Nothing is ever horrible. My biggest complaint, if you want to call it that is the waitstaff. The host and the wait staff are friendly enough, but there are definitely times when they need to come by the table a bit more. There have been times when I haven't seen the waiter/waitress from the time I ordered until the check came. Refills and such were handled by the busboys who are great. I have had it take 15 minutes from the time I asked for the check to the time I received it. Last visit the waitress was very good and attentive, but this was the first time I have had the same waitress on different visits. Waitstaff has really improved lately.

Went here for lunch the other (and to watch some college basketball), and the place was packed. Parking is a disaster, but they do offer valet. We got a table in the bar area. There are TVs everywhere, so everyone was able to watch the games. I had the steak sandwich with onion rings. The steak was amazing and cooked perfectly. The onion rings were also great. Service was fast, especially considering how busy it was. Our drinks were always full, and our waitress even made sure she knew what time we needed to leave. I can't wait until its warmer to have a beer on the roof.

Trax has very good food, but TERRIBLE service. I am incredibly disappointed with the service I received and I will most likely never be going back. It seemed like the workers had no idea what they were doing and my sister ordered salmon and an hour later, they came back to our table to say they had no salmon. We left very angry and upset and I do not recommend going to anyone who doesn't want to wait an hour to get their food.

We have been to Trax many times and generally everything has been very good. However our most recent visit was awful. The service we received was very poor and when we made management aware of the situation they did not try and correct it they just made excuses. Not what we wanted to hear. The staff was trying hard but it did not appear that the management knew how to handle the situation. When we finally got our food some of it was cold. Note to management, If you have someone working the bar they should not be working the floor as well. Everyone suffers from staff stretched to thin. I'm sure we will be back but not soon.

Came here with a bunch of people, so I was able to try an assortment of items on the menu. I was not the biggest fan of the hummus. I liked how it came with cucumber and tomato diced on top of it, but I felt like the humus itself was lacking in taste. Everything else I had was really good. I LOVED the Fried Zucchini appetizer and everyone seemed to enjoy the Loaded Potato Skins as well. The mozzarella sticks were okay, nothing special. I had a piece of the BBQ Chicken Pizza and it was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of sauce and ingredients. For my meal, I had the Chicken Avocado Club and it was fantastic. I would return for the food. The service was good, our waitress kept the refills coming and was quick to bring us drinks from the bar. The well drinks are a nice size and not too weak (but not exactly strong either). I think your best bet here is getting beer considering they have a beer special everyday!

Good for after work happy hour. The calamari came out nice and hot, though a little tough/rubbery. A pretty good, standard bar with bar food to keep local corporate-goers happy after work! The roof is huge, too. We also had an event here one day and the staff was very accommodating and attentive to our needs. We will certainly do something there like that again.

I found myself travelling twice this month to my native land of the North Shore: to feast on my native food (discriminating and demanding requirements in restaurants and an Anglophiliac delight in bland, mushy food for at home dining, always supplemented by stiff drinks), listen to my native music (oldies, jazz, or punk if we're peppy) and chant with my native people (cynicism- characterized by a lengthening of vowels, indicating you are not only bored! But are in a state of disbelief- ex."That sweater's proooobably acryyyyylic." Or sarcasm, that wary lack of interest, masquerading as a sense of humor- ex. "Oh REH-ALLY?!" or "Niiiiice shirt."). After partaking in the anthropological fundamentals with my brethren; incredulously, even with our time tested traditions we were restless and hit Trax. In spite of customary, blasé ennui we found it superfun. The diverse menu, low prices, crowd, atmosphere, and rooftop dining would please anyone's expectations. Our server, Rose was ubercute and easily the best server I ever had. We partied our Waspy bums off. People often ask me; how can you groove all night without sleepin,' then turn around and grind all day without blinkin'? I tell em; cuz I love FUN. Trax delivers, no matter which side of the tracks one may to hail from.

During work, I go to Trax to pick up pizza for my students. The pizzas come in huge white boxes and are oh-so-delicious. After work, I go to Trax with coworkers for drinks. The drinks are well-priced and decent. The beer is a good choice. Lots of sports on television, good people, nice spot to be.

Nice beer selection and ok food. My issue is with the unfriendly and slow bar and wait staff. If their location wasn't as good they'd be empty. Their staff needs a class in how to be friendly and understand that the customer can go to a million other places.

Be aware when ordering take out! This is the second time in a few months that they lost my order. First time was for a party I was having at my home. I placed a large order at 2 PM for a 6 PM delivery stressing the importance of the delivery and the fact that one pizza was to be gluten free. At 6:20 when I called to check on the status they had no record of my order! I ended up making several frozen pizzas to feed the hungry kids. Trax put a rush on the order and delivered several under cooked pizzas shortly after I called. I spoke with the manager the next day and explained that the pizzas were useless to me and I ultimately ended up feeding the kids on my own. He had very limited customer service skills. He seemed mildly interested in what I had to say and responded with "it was a busy night for us" and offered me a $5 credit for next time I dined there. He asked if I was ok with that. I had a large order, most of which was inedible and went in the garbage, and he offers $5 to make up for THEY'RE error. I told him I was shocked at his offer to make things up to me and he countered with $10. Wow! Tonight my husband placed a small order. The woman who answered the phone asked for the spelling of our last name confirmed the spelling and told him the order would be ready around 6:50. When I showed up to pick up at 6:55 the bartender could find no record of our order in the system or anywhere. She told me she could put it in, but it would take a bit because they were busy and went back to tending bar. I asked for the manager and I asked her to check with the staff who takes orders. A hostess walked by and the bartender asked her about my order. The hostess remembered talking my order, but had no idea what happened. I asked her as well to speak to, Robby, the manager and she walked away. I waited for several more minutes there was no sign of a manager. Finally after all the run around and very nonchalant attitude from the staff the bartender came out with my order. I explained to her how this was the second time in a short time period I have experience this problem. She looked at me, seemed annoyed, shrugged her shoulders and said, "I can give you 20% off". I paid and waited for the manager (who I had asked 2 staff member to get several minutes prior) and ultimately just decided to leave. He wasn't coming. The $4 off my order was supposed to appease me I guess. Bottom line is this is a very mediocre restaurant with slow, inconsistent service, passive staff and very average food. I hate that this is the case because it is really the only place in Deerfield where you can go and get a burger or a salad and a drink with a family or sports team and it is open late. I know I will be dining there again, because of an obligatory team dinner or pizza party, but I am going to make it a point to do my best and stay away. Not sure what happened it used to be better. It is really to bad. We need something better in Deerfield.

I would rate Trax food at 3.5 but their service is really bad in the bar area. On Blavk Hawks playoff game we waited over an hour for nachos. Very slow. They did not have enough waiters/waitresses.

I wish I could give two ratings for this place. Food would be more like four stars while the place itself, bathrooms, the manager, and bartender would win something more around a star rating. It was a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 and the place had only a handful of people eating and drinking. We went up to the patio overlooking the Art Festival and train tracks. The place was clearly unfinished with tarps thrown all over the place, half unpacked boxes, sand bags thrown around, and disorganized material laying in the stairwells. Other than the decoration and lay-out of the place being a bit strange, when I went to ask for the location of the bathroom, I couldn't find anyone to tell me. When I finally did, it was as if I was bugging the busiest person in the world with a dumb question. Excuuuuse me. Now that the unpleasant part is out of the way, our server and food was wonderful. The selection on the menu was nice offering fries, sweet potato fries, baked sweet potatoes, veggies, tater tots... a nice variety. I got a club and asked for it to be on another kind of bread. The waitress gave me all the options with a smile and made me seem as if anything could be made to order in the kitchen. I love to hear this because it is true and so many servers act like it's a pain in the butt. I appreciated her attitude and enjoyed my club and sweet potato very much. If I was in the area and wanted to sit outside, I might try this place again. Perhaps in a few weeks or months they will get the other stuff together and win another star to the rating.

Trax is the place to go when the family has shot down all your other suggestions. The food is fine and the beer is cold. There are lots of tv to watch sports. The restaurant is content is just being ok so expect nothing more or less.

Trax is close to work and good for after work gatherings. The food isn't anything to get excited about, but the drinks are cold and the staff is very accommodating.

I came into Trax's Sunday night for my Daughter's Birthday and are experience was awesome . Are server was very Friendly and seemed to care alot about are table. They have great food and there Pizza is so delicious ! We have been going there for five years and we have never had a better experience. Mind there was fifteen of us, and the place was super busy the manger made sure everything came out good and was Extremely nice , I was impressed how good service was. I suggest everyone try the smoor's, Will be back.

Everything is fine - food was fine - menu options and prices were fine - EXCEPT the service. The service was absolutely terrible. We had to constantly find our server to order more drinks. We had to track him down to get food. I actually don't blame our server because I don't think we were supposed to be his table. The Bartender originally took our orders, but she had zero interest in taking care of us. Finally we had to ask a random waiter for help. Additionally we had a fairly large party - two tables of four put together. The server refused to split the bill into two checks upfront - we asked before we ordered). We were told in order to have another tab for our table we would have to order from the bar. Bottom line - the place is ok - I would go back if it weren't for the service. I've been there twice now and both times the service has been all kinds of bad.

Good: *Lots of TVs showing all different channels. *Nice sports bar atmosphere with somewhat odd layout. *The place wasn't that crowded but not empty either. *Bread and fries good. Bad: *Server took forever with our appetizers. She didn't clear our plates when we were finished, we ended up moving empty plates to the empty tables next to us. *Small drinks. *Steak was not cooked properly. *No chips in the nachos. Really weak combo platter. *Great patio area, even though trains roll by every so often. Great place to go for bar food, beer and sports, but not much else. I prefer this to Champps, the other local restaurant of this type/price. I also noticed that they were updating their menu -- and also upping some prices -- in the near future (we were there a few months ago).

Despite the horrible food, the yuppie snot nosed clientele, and one of their waitresses spreading lies about their customers, the place is ok....

Usually this place is pretty good, but since they revised the menu, this place has sunk faster than the titanic. I used to go there all the time with my family until I went there with a group of families. They dropped the kids pizza on the floor and my meal was really salty, almost inedible. Recently I went there and sat on the patio. We ordered meals for the kids and they never brought my daughters pizza. When my wife asked, they told us that it was coming. 25 minutes later when we were done eating the waiter brought her pizza. My wife told us we didn't want it, and the waiter told us we can take it home. They never even offered to take it off the check. Finally, the waiter offered free ice cream in front of my kids, which my wife didn't want them to have, but the kids heard him and got excited and we were stuck. The waiters excuse was that someone pulled her pizza off the tray, which I didn't believe for a minute. However, I didn't want to make a scene. My pulled pork was extremely dry. I've gotten to the point where I cant order anything but a grilled chicken or salad because the quality if erratic. Not only that, its not cheap. Maybe it was our waiter who just didn't seem to care and made it look like we were terrible people for complaining that they kept screwing up. My advise is that if you are coming to drink, its a cool place. If you are coming to eat, there are better places to go.

You guys like MILFs? I know I do, so I go to Trax. This shit is packed with MILFs and people from Deerfield who haven't realized that they have kids and can't be cool anymore. As far as the actual place goes, Its allright. priced reasonably with many TV screens, its great as far as a generic bar goes. But I'm telling you man, this is the only place to go for milfs

  • Derek C.

well... they've raised their prices even HIGHER from what it was before. yikes, $12 for a burger??! this is no longer our lunch spot because of the higher prices and now I don't think I'd go there for dinner because of them. a build your own burger with 4 toppings goes for $16!!! there are plenty of other places to go for a decent burger in the area, so no thanks.

I have been here several times. I have to say I am always very very happy with the service here. The pizza's are delicious and very affordable. burgers are great, appetizers are on point for upscale bar fare. I almost must really compliment the unbelievable waitress Lindsey .. She is the sweeter than apple pie. She is fast thorough and quite frankly I don't know what this restaurant would do with out her!! On top of everything she is a great sport. I have been doing a study on relationships and professionalism and she was easy going even through awkward questions. When I go to a place and get treated like I am the only customer in the place every-time I go, It keeps me motivated to keep going back for more. Trax is that Kind of place. Simple straightforward menu, plenty of big screens, and obviously customer driven!!!

Thank goodness, we dined here BEFORE reading the negative comments. Our group includes several experienced (and finicky) restaurant goers. And, to be honest, we visited Trax not when the tavern was packed with rowdy sports fans but for weekday lunch. This place is a casual neighborhood come-as-you-are 'man cave.' While the decor might not wow anyone, it's clean, bright, spacious, and pleasant enough. Several booths have their own flat-screen TV. A back room can accommodate private parties. We've dined at MANY local sports bars, both chains and one-of-a-kind, and I would rank Trax's food and service within the top 20%. Their menu is several pages long. Deep-fried appetizers arrived piping hot with a crunchy, not oily, breading. Everything from tilapia to a humongous barbecue platter to entree-size salads to sandwiches was fresh, well prepared, and generously portioned. And at reasonable prices. What? $16 for a burger? Justified because it's a giant 14-oz. patty with up to 4 toppings included. Our friendly server got everything right, and (rare for our group) no one grumbled!

I like Trax but it is hit-or-miss. My last three experiences in a row have been positive. I took a first date and sat on their rooftop patio. Actually, patio makes it sound nicer than it is. It's just a roof. Our waitress was very sweet and quick with the refills and had fantastic personality. The hummus appetizer was mediocre, the burgers are okay but sometimes superb. The chicken wings I got tasted off and the meat was tough. I don't mind trax just as a bar. Lots of big screen HDTVs and they'll play nearly any NFL match-up if you ask. Even Packers or Vikings!

mostly pleased on a return visit here after a fairly average experience years ago. a good amount of TVs showing sport activities. the prices seemed a bit high but the portions were quite large so i guess it evens out. food tasted fine and the tater tot option is always appreciated. did not go to the bathroom though so i'll have to try that next time.

Trax is a great casual sports bar! There's a TV at every table, you can change the channels if you like, and there are even more TV's everywhere you look. Service is friendly and fast! They have a nice sized menu, including dinners, large pizzas, and plenty of desserts. So if you are worried that the only things to eat will be hot wings and potato skins, worry not! The customers are mostly older, laid back folks, so it doesn't get really rowdy here. It's a perfect fit for this neighborhood, families with kids come here too! I'm really glad I gave this place a second chance! I originally tried it out when I first moved to the neighborhood 5 years ago. A friend and I each had a chocolate martini and a nicely grilled, fancy bun-less hamburger entree. The bill was almost $60....the martini wasn't top shelf vodka or anything either. I'm not complaining though, I just felt this was a fancy Northshore bar and I wasn't rich enough to be there. Just this summer, a co-worker told me that the place had good food and reasonably priced drinks, so I figured it was worth another shot! She was right! Everything was much better than I remembered. The food is really good, and the portions are pretty big! I love the pizzas and the 'make your own s'mores' dessert that you get to roast at your table! I would have to honestly say though that the food isn't super exciting, but still pretty tasty. Parking seems to be an issue since it's not a very big lot, so it fills up fast when there's a big game on that day. There's more parking within walking distance though, you can park at the Walgreens lot or behind Whole Foods.

This is by far my favorite lunch place. The rooftop is amazing and perfect for when you need to get out of the office. I've been here for drinks a few times after work too. Fun atmosphere and good drink specials. The waitstaff is great. They even have valet service for the lunch rush. Typical fare on the menu but I've yet to have something I don't like.

A group of six came here on a Sunday night. We thought that with it being MLKjr Day on Monday that they would be open late; however, they closed at 10pm. But they did let us stay there until they absolutely had to kick us out. Samuel Adams were $3 each. She had told our friends there was a special on Guinness, but had been wrong. We still received the discounted price for the ones we had already ordered and she came back regularly to give us refills. Some of their food is hit or miss, but the BLT has always been good. I highly recommend it. This place reminds me of Champp's, so it's not the most original concept. But this restaurant was much more laid back and I found the staff to be friendlier. They also do a good job of checking up on the customers and she even carded me for my "See ID" credit card, which is something that I am always glad they do.

After two visits here, the food is quite decent, I won't go back. The first time, we entered and had to wait for several minutes before a host came up to greet us, and it wasn't as if they were particularly busy. The second time, the restaurant was empty except for one other table, the only other customers in the bar. We were seated at the table right next to the kitchen and ignored as the waitress would come out of the kitchen, walked past our table several times to help the other table, and eventually got around to taking our order. I pay dining out prices not just for the food, but for the service. If your staff thinks I'm invisible, I'm happy to take my business to restaurants that can actually see their customers.

Very rude waiter. We went to Trax last night with a large group. They couldn't remember our party's name, sat us next to the kitchen door, and our waiter was inattentive. The bus boy did all the work. The food was marginal, but this is a sports bar so I guess the bar should be set low. My salad dressing came about 5 minutes after I had been served. At the end of the night we were figuring out the tip and we were planning on leaving him just shy of 15%. Not a great tip for a large party, but not horrible either. This is when things got uncomfortable. The waiter came up to us and loudly challenged our tip saying "Well if I did something wrong you should've told me because you're only leaving me a 10% tip." I'm not great at calculations, so it took me a moment to realize that he was calculating after tax. I was astonished that a waiter would complain about a lack luster tip, and that they'd have the audacity to claim a higher one based on an after tax bill. The manager apologized when I complained, and gave us a discount card for a future visit but I will not go back there again.

Decent food. Decent staff. Decent dining area. but somehow...we didn't fit in there. Every table, I mean every last table in this place had kids at it. and it wasn't even kids eat free night (coincidence?). Needless to say, the place was loud and the mucho mucho kid thing brought a chuckie cheese element to my dining experience...but I don't place blame for this on the establishment. Even so, families with young children seem to be the typical patrons, which is totally fine (I'm not knocking kids, I do like kids, but wasn't expecting dozens to be in one restaurant all at once), but if I want to escape and relax, I (a childless person) won't be doing it here. I want to go where the childfree people roam...for as long as I am childfree. I guess I could try sitting at the bar next time to see if that's better.

This place was average. The pizza we got was huge and good. The waitress was not interested in serving us at all. The place was loud, crammed, and nothing special. There was a girl coming around with free shots, though. That's about the only highlight. Every table has a tv in which you can change the channel. So you can come and watch your team, but you're not guaranteed that's the station they'll have the sound playing for. There are probably other places to check out before coming here.

I have a customer based up in Lake Forest and this was the only place that he knew of to grab casual beers at on a weekday. I got here around 4:30 and noticed several people at the bar..the type that I like to call 'professional drinkers'. Other then that, the place was empty. They have a typical sports bar décor with plenty of large TVs. We saddled up to the bar and had two rounds of drinks. The bar tender did a great job of only bugging us when our drinks were low and never pushing us to order food (I hate that). I wasn't expecting much of a wine list so I was surprised to see that they had quite the selection, though it was all pretty standard stuff. By the time we left around 6 it was starting to fill up with a decent crowd. If I'm in the area and looking for something low key (quick drinks), I'm happy to come back here.

I had heard good things about this place, but our experience last night was pretty mediocre. You wouldn't think this if you saw the parking lot. It was impossible to find a spot. So we decided to walk from another parking lot. Their beer list is lame at best. I never thought myself to be a beer snob.... We got the appetizer sampler platter, as we usually do to test the food at unfamiliar restaurants. The potato skins, pretty good, but the rest of the food wasn't anything exciting. At least our service was good.

  • Richard B.

Cheers this is not! Don't expect to have any personal treatment by the bartending staff or wait staff. Food is okay, some servings are large and some are very small for the money. If you are going to serve marginal food... an attentive and caring wait staff would be helpful to the business. They have an opportunity to build a local business with regulars and after all these years....still not happening. Owner seems distant.

As a sports bar, Trax rivals most of the ones I have been to in Lincoln Park. The layout and beer list are both great. You can see multiple TV's from every seat in either the bar or restaurant. As a restaurant, I have to give Trax three stars. The pulled pork was very good. It was served more traditionally with the BBQ Sauce on the side. This is how they do it in the authentic BBQ restaurants. BBQ Pork originates from the Carolinas and that it how it is served there. The Sweet Potato on the side was nothing special and came without accouterments. My wife has a southwestern salad that was nothing special. Trax is also overpriced for what you get in return. The Pulled Pork Sandwich was $9 and the Burgers $11. If you want to watch a game, grab a beer and hang out with friends, than Trax is one of the better choices on the North Shore. For dinner though there are many better options.

Decent. Met expectations which were not high. Beer selection was disappointing, as was the fact that the outside deck wasn't open yet (Memorial Day Weekend).

I'd love to tell you about multiple items on the menu but my crippling inability to pass up a sure-thing leaves me with only the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich to rave about (and the buffalo tenders, equally excellent). I like my Buff-Chick with no cheese (personally I think it's blasphemous to slap a piece of cheese on this variety of sandwich) and ranch on the side instead of bleu cheese, but if you're into that I'm sure its tasty too. I started going here once a week for my lunch break during their "Customer Appreciation Month" when the lunch menu was half off! Score! I like to sit on the bar side, where I can occasionally spot another solo 9-5 diner enjoying a quiet lunch break. One visit I was seated in the dining room and I didn't ask to be moved to the other side but I should have. There's just something uncomfortable about sitting in the middle of a dining room at an otherwise empty table for 4 surrounded by full tables of families and groups. I'm usually totally at ease dining alone, but this room made me feel on display, and I wasn't able to relax and enjoy like I would have nestled in a private booth. The service was kind of slow/cold on this side. But, back on the bar side the service was always consistent and spectacular. It only took 3 visits before the waitress automatically brought my drink order with her first visit to my table. Its that kind of stand-out service that will keep people coming. Manager/owners have been present most times I've been here which is always a good thing. They make the rounds to ensure you're happy with everything and I would tell them everything is wonderful if my mouth wasn't full of amazing buffalo chicken on fresh ciabatta!! Parking can be tough so they offer complimentary valet! Yes, even at lunch. The friendly and thoughtful service (extra napkins with the buffalo tenders and always a full water) never goes unrecognized when its time to tip, so keep up the great work Trax!

Terrible food - I don't know how hard it is to screw up a salad or chicken sandwich, but they can do it here. My friend had chicken fingers, which were full of gristle. Nasty. I once ordered the BBQ pulled pork, which came out as pulled pork with a side of BBQ sauce. WTF? However, I've been told the sweet potato fries are a winner, so if you venture here, get those. The wait service is even worse than the food. They must hire only inattentive and bored people, and then train them to mumble when they greet you. Perhaps it's a worthwhile spot for happy hour, as they have an upstairs patio that overlooks the Metra line, but I'm not convinced it's really worth it.

The best Trax experience is to come during the summer, when the rooftop patio is open. It's within easy eyeshot of the train tracks and Deerfield train station, so if you have young children (we have three), you get some free mealtime entertainment. Rarely too crowded and is child-friendly during the day (when we've been), although evenings look to draw a different crowd. The food is decent, but not spectacular. Kids menu is the usual (chicken fingers, little pizza, burgers, etc.). I've tended towards the burgers, which are solid affairs. We also enjoy the Oriental Chicken Salad, which we frequently get for take-out. There are three areas: a sports-bar-ish area up front, with a several TVs including one large screen, which caters to an after-work, local crowd, and has karaoke one night a week, a standard restauranty area in back, and the rooftop patio. If the weather's at all decent, pick the patio.

I went here because I had a groupon. I ordered a chopped salad to go. I had to ask for bacon. The lettuce tasted old, the corn tasted canned, and the bacon was overdone. I shared the salad with my husband and neither of us finished our portion. Not the most friendly staff.

Great place for a quick family dinner. The place is stinking with families with kids (which is a plus for us, but could be a minus depending on your demographic). I find the food to be pretty good in the bar food/pub category with some nice salads and other healthy options. The pizza is also surprisingly good. I get the sense there is more adult vibe in the bar. Lots of TVs all over so it is definitely a sport's bar.

I've only been here once but found the experience to be simply average and not worth a return visit. We went on a cool night so the rooftop patio wasn't open and the dining area was a bit shabby. Our waitress was clearly having a disagreement with the manager and, while they both behaved professionally towards us, it created some tension that made us wish we had come on a different night. The prices were a bit higher than I'd expect given the atmosphere. Burgers & sandwiches cost $8 to $10 and entrees range from $12 to $20. We ordered a burger and an entree and both were unremarkable. I was particularly disappointed with the entree - I expect a little more than simply average for the money. If I'm going to spend $40 or $50 for dinner for two, I'd much rather go to someplace like Miramar's (in Highland Park) and have wonderful food in a wonderful atmosphere. Maybe I'll go back and try the rooftop patio sometime, but I'm not in any hurry to do so.

Was there this past weekend, 1/29, and went first and foremost just to watch some basketball and there's no shortage of TV's in the bar. However, that was the best part of the evening. The food was average at best. If I go back, and it will be to only watch a sporting event, and bring in low expectations on the food.

Stopped by with a large group of friends for an arranged party. Although the bar was far from crowded, very slow service. When the bartender forgot half my order, I saw her literally serve over a dozen other people. I finally asked her about the second half of the order and she acted like I was out of line. When I finally sat with my friends, there weren't enough seats and no plates or napkins, so I had to carry the food with my hands. I sat a nearby table and a server yelled at me for making more work for her. The food, pizza, was only average. After having two staff treat me like dirt and eating only okay food, I immediately left the party and the restaurant. I would not return.

This is a great laid back place to eat and hand out. Eating on the roof on a nice day is a must. I have yet seen an item on the menu I do not like. I really like their blacken chicken. Price are decent as well.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations.
