I really want this place to make it, but this is the second and last time we'll go there. We got there at 7pm and only waited about 2 minutes get seated. The waitress passed our table and said she'd be back. So after 5 minutes she did come back and greeted us by saying "You ready?" She took our order of drinks, appetizer, and 3 sushi rolls. A full 10 minutes later, the busboy stops by and asks if we've been helped. We told him we we're still waiting on drinks and an appetizer. He disappeared to the back and came back a few minutes later with our app (fried spring rolls). Then 5 minutes later he came back with drinks, and motions to the kitchen saying "they're really busy." Finally at 7:32 the manager brings 1 of the 3 sushi rolls out, and apologizes for the delay. He said nobody came into work today, they all went to visit family. A few minutes later, our original waitress stops by and asks if we've ordered yet! We had dirty dishes on our table, which she must not have seen. Finally at 7:41 the manager brings the rest of our food. During all this waiting, we watched several irritated people getting up for their own water refills, plates, a high chair, etc., and at no time did we get a drink refill. With all that said, the sushi was fantastic. I don't know what's going on there, but they're 0 for 2. Good food, horrible service.

Having just moved here from Western Massachusetts, where we frequently ordered Thai food, we were glad to see that there is a Thai option in Decatur! I would normally never thank a business for sticking a menu under my windshield wiper, but the day we ordered Jasmine Thai, I was incredibly grateful! We had already been planning to get thai from them for carryout, but noted that there was no menu that we could find online so we would have to go into the restaurant to place our order and wait. Imagine my surprised when I walked out to my car after work that evening, and there was a menu on the windshield! Perfect (but I'm willing to bet that most people were not thrilled by this business tactic)! So what did we order once we had the menu at our fingertips? . . .We decided to stick wiht the basics (pad thai) to judge our first Jasmine Thai experience on. We called in the order (2 chicken pad thai, spicy) and my husband ran to pick it up. Service was fast for picking up the order, and he was home quickly. The pad thai was great -- a little sweeter and not quite as spicy as the pad thai we were used to in Massachusetts, but still tasty. Good flavors and a nice big serving (I had some leftovers for the next day). I'll update my review when we've tried more food here. We'll likely stick to takeout for two reasons, though: One, we like to eat in our own home! and two, most of the negative reviews here seem to be about service, so why risk it?

This is no longer in this location. The new Anna Thai is a huge improvement. If you like Thai food, pay a visit.

Have been back twice since my original review and sushi wasn't offered...had trouble keeping a sushi chef apparently. Also, I must agree with other reviews that in our 2 subsequent visits service was awful :(

Very worth it when they have sushi. Basil fried rice and crazy/drunken noodles are good too. I like Thai but I'm not a big fan of their curries, but it'll do in a pinch if you're craving Thai and don't want to drive to Bloomington or Champaig. They have the best and most amazing American-style sushi (fried bits, lots of sauce, tempura, etc.). Honey bee roll is sweet honey-dipped fried chicken in a sushi roll! All of their specialty rolls that I've had are excellent. The downside: Last two times we've been, they didn't have sushi!! We had other dishes that were good, but their sushi is the best in Decatur (better than Fuji in my opinion). Other downside is slow service. I think they usually have the husband Dao and his wife working. So just understand it's a family business with not many employees, so you may have to wait. Not good if you're in a hurry. Sushi is amazing, other stuff is good too.

I was very disappointed about this place. I heard that they had the best sushi in town and when we got there the waitress told us they never had sushi. What the hell sushi is on the store front name. The chicken was soggy and my red curry had soggy potatoes in it. The only thing that on spot was the calamari that's it. Also the owner was just standing around while the only waitress took care of the whole restaurant. I think she was cooking the food. My mother ordered some tea and that never showed up then the guy complained that the coffee machine was broken. I guess it's to hard to boil water on the stove. The owner only could say he was frome Hawaii and that's it. I do have to apologize to the waitress it was not her fault that this place was so horrible.

they are closed down...

Good Thai food in decatur/champaign. The green curry is amazing. The mock duck dishes are all excellent. However, do not get the tofu, gross. The sushi is the best in decatur. I ordered the veggie roll and the portion is huge compared to other sushi restaurants. Service is terrible but the food is good.

Whoever even rates this 4-5 stars is clearly blind or has no taste buds. I moved here from Chicago so i knew not to have high expectations for this place, but hey thai is my favorite so why not try it. So, ordered takeout with my bf the first time, we waited 2 HOURS for our takeout to be ready, she kept saying she was busy. Finally got our food and it was the worst panang curry ive had in my entire panang life. If i could rate this place negative i would. The lady is VERY RUDE. Anyways, i decided to try this place again since options are limited in Decatur, so went to dine in and ordered sushi, had HAIR ON EVERY PIECE OF MY DRAGON ROLL, and she did not even once say SORRY!!!! HOW DO U RUN A BUSINESS LIKE THAT???So then we ordered green curry as well, and YES that had hair in it as well, like what is going on?!?! it was the worst experience in my life, she is serving people with flip flops on...GET IT TOGETHER GIRL. I LITERALLY wish this place would close down, u can not serve food with hair TWICE in one seating.

Came home to visit family this weekend and asked Mom if she'd like to try some Thai being that Decatur's selection is pretty limited. I loved the "water wall" as we walked in, and when I mentioned how great it was, I was told it took quite a bit of time and effort to build. It definitely makes a splash as you walk in...get the joke there? Walking through the mini hallway to the hostess station, I was a bit surprised to see there was a sushi bar in the lounge area, because I thought it was just a Thai restaurant. My mom's not into sushi, so we stuck to to the other menu. But I definitely want to try a roll the next time I'm in. Because my mom had never had this type of cuisine, I recommended she get the chicken pad Thai, which she loved. I ordered the spicy chicken basil, and that was really good. I am used to a traditional Thai ground chicken in my basil but didn't mind having the chicken diced. We shared our plates, and I did enjoy the pad thai. Next time, I'd ask for some fresh lime slices to squeeze on top...I can go through a whole lime when I get pad thai because I like the fresh, tart citrus flavor. I LOVE Jasmine Thai & Sushi. The location is great, the menu should appeal to everyone and it's a great addition for Decatur. Highly recommended!

Clearly this is a Thai restaurant that added sushi to their menu to boost their sales. Decatur is a tiny little town and to have sushi available probably helps them, but do yourself a favor and stay away from the sushi menu. If you're just an every once in a while type of sushi eater, then maybe you're okay eating the rolls, but if you're someone who wants good fish, do not order the sushi. My wife ordered the red curry tofu and she says it was delicious. I tasted it, it was delicious. But I will reiterate. Do not order Nigiri sushi. On a side note, for as slow as it was on a Tuesday night, my water took forever to get refilled and I wasn't all that pleased with the actual service of the place. However on top of all of this I will say again my wife loved the red curry tofu. This is definitely not a sushi restaurant. If you Live within 60 miles of this place and it is the closest sushi restaurant available to you, then fine go ahead, otherwise drive 62 miles to get better sushi else where. I never expect sushi to be fantastic in a small town in the middle of the United States, however I am always willing to try.

Awesome Sushi!!! Reasonably Priced!!! I recommend Soy City Roll, Smoky Mountain Roll, & the Miami Heat Roll.

This is my daughter's favorite place to eat in town. She is simple and usually gets the Chicken Pad Thai but the Lava Chicken is great as well. Worth checking out. Great atmosphere for date night with that special someone.

Food was good! Menu too big in my opinion. Service was slow. Environment good for Decatur.

Being in the culinary biz for so many years, I recognize that Jasmine Thai in Decatur IL may be in my top 10 of all places ive enjoyed around the country. If youre in a 50-mile rsdius of this place stop in.

I really, really wanted to give Jasmine Sushi a great review. Especially since Decatur desperately needs some great (or shall I say, even decent) dining experiences. But alas, I was again disappointed. First, let me start off with the atmosphere. My friend and I arrived at 5:00 PM on Saturday afternoon. The place was empty and quiet as expected. The decor was very nice, especially the flowing glass waterfall at the entryway. The hostess was very nice and courteous, as were all of the female employees. Then I was seated. Our waiter (whose name I do not recall), was probably one of the most harsh, aggressive, and annoying waiters I've ever had at an establishment. I waited for my friend to arrive a few minutes after I did, and the waiter asked me twice what I wanted to order, after I had already told him once that I was waiting on my friend. He came by about 45 seconds later and asked if I was ready to order yet. Then my friend came. I hadn't seen her in months and we were chatting, catching up, which I thought was ok since we were the only people there at the time. The waiter kept pressuring us to order wine and appetizers, even after we told him we needed a few minutes to browse the menu. Apparently, a "few minutes" means 30 seconds to him. Oh, and he stood about 5 feet away from our table staring at us the entire time unless he was chatting with the guy in the kitchen. My friend ordered a glass of wine. I ordered the Seaweed Salad and two bowls of miso soup for appetizers. When we ordered the miso soup, the waiter said that he liked some other Thai dish. I don't know why, but we were going for a sushi dinner, not Thai. Anyway, the seaweed salad was $4.50 and was a very small amount. It was listed under "Appetizers", so I made the false assumption that it would be an amount for two people. We still shared the 4 small bites. It was decent, but not worth $4.50 by any means. Then, the miso...oh no. The waiter brought us two small bowls of miso soup and a large spoon. Like, a tablespoon. Not a miso soup spoon. (by the way, this is in addition to the spoon and fork at the table...my first time being to an establishment that didn't just have chopsticks, like normal). So anyway, the soup was lukewarm. We took two slurps, then let the waiter know the soup was not hot. He replied, "well it's only for two people". So apparently if you want hot miso soup, you have to come in a large party. After appetizers, we were again harassed about 4-5 times by the waiter when we were chatting and deciding among the sushi rolls. We decided to get the Spicy Tuna Maki, a California Maki, and the Rainbow Roll. The rolls came out on a large plate and they looked really appetizing. They came with a small amount of wasabi and ginger. I love wasabi and my friend loves ginger, so we asked for more. Our waiter responded with "why do you want more? isn't that enough?". Really? As far as the main course goes, it was ok. The spicy tuna was probably the best, even though the rainbow roll was 12 pieces. All the sushi tasted about the same, because they smother all of it in the same sauce. It was decently spicy and had good flavor, but you can't really tell much of a difference. Maybe the rolls we ordered were too similar? So immediately after the last piece of sushi was eaten, the waiter walked up and said "can I bring your check?". Kind of startled, we said "uhhh sure". He brought us the bill, then asked if we wanted dessert. We kindly declined. The total bill was about $45. Even though the experience was definitely weird, we tipped 18%. We were going to stay and chat for a little while longer, but decided to go next door to Bijou's instead. I would visit this place again, but hopefully have a different waiter/waitress. And next time I'll try the Thai food instead.

I've been to Decatur many times for business, and I wish I had visited Jasmine Thai sooner. First off, I was disappointed that there was no sushi available. I'm not sure exactly why it was unavailable, but I was told that they will again start serving sushi in a week or so. The rest of my visit very quickly helped me get over that disappointment. The atmosphere and decor of Jasmine Thai was very pleasant. The lighting and decor are sleek and modern. I was quickly seated in the mostly empty restaurant. I ordered the Tom Kha Gai (Thai Coconut Soup), which was spicy and creamy - just the thing for a frigid night. For dinner I had the Duck Curry. The duck was well prepared. Duck can be very fatty and chewy, and this was really well trimmed and cooked. The sauce had a nice sweetness from the coconut milk, but plenty of heat to go with it. I'm glad I had a couple of Singha's to go with it all. The service could not have been more friendly. I was the only one eating in the restaurant at the time, and my waitress chatted with me throughout my dinner, keeping me company. So far, Jasmine Thai is the best restaurant I have been to in Decatur.

Food: 4 star Service: 0 STAR! I got: Thai Ice Tea (standard), Spicy Salmon (pretty good), Duck Curry (a bit too sweet for me but its alright) This is probably the only asian/sushi restaurant that I've ever been to that does not have a lunch menu (specials). Therefore, I would not recommend coming here for lunch because they are very understaffed during lunch and you are still paying the expensive dinner price. The decor is okay and nice but the service and the employees are so rude it just ruins the whole vibe of the restaurant. The hostess/waitress is a short woman with a big bad attitude. The sushi chef (who took my order becuz there is only 1 waitress) is nice but his english is not understandable and he does not know the menu. First of all, when I came in, the hostess seated me in the front right behind the hostess stand 1 table isolated in front of the window (not even inside the restaurant) I asked to be reseated immediately. After being seated again (which made the hostress mad) and waiting 20 minutes (keep in mind there's only 2 other tables right now because it's 11:30 am) I wanted to place my order but the hostess/waitress lady kept ignoring me so eventually the busboy got the sushi chef to take my order. I got a Thai Ice Tea and Spicy Salmon Roll and then I wanted to ask him the difference between the Siam Beef and Thai Beef. He completely did not know and I kept getting mixed answers on everything and it's hard to understand anything. eventually I got the mean attitude hostess/waitress and she was no help either and I asked her which one was spicy and she was like we can make either spicy. I asked how the veggies were prepared and she told me they were just water boiled (but on the menu, for SIAM BEEF the veggie was suppose to be stir fried) and she said well it's up to you. So basically, THAI BEEF AND SIAM BEEF ARE THE SAME DISH?!?! so unhelpful, so i turned to my Yelp app and someone suggest the duck curry so I got that instead even though I was really feeling like beef but since I could not figure out what I was ordering, I gave up. Overall, the food was acceptable (not my overall standards but it's good enough for Decatur) Price was very expensive considering it's lunch. If the hostess/waitress didn't give me such bad attitudes I would come back for dinner some other times but I will probably never step foot in this place again. But if you are someone who values food over quality of service, then this is the place for you because the food is decent. personally, I think having a happy eating environment with friendly staff that knows the menu and can suggest food that fits my taste is more important and it just makes the overal dining experience so much better

i would never go to a Thai restaurant to eat sushi so... Thai food was good

I was in Decatur for a business trip and was pleasantly surprised to find VARIETY in the local cuisine in the form of a brand new Thai restaurant. Going in, the restaurants decor is very soothing and feng shui - like. The staff is very friendly and energetic. Now, with formalities dispensed....let's get on with the real reason we're all here: THE FOOD. I like to order from the specials board, because it usually involves Chef's special skills and seasonal ingredients. I ordered the Spicy Crispy Duck. This was delightful! The duck had a wonderful crispy skin and slightly greasy (but not overwhelming) inside meat. The heat was wonderfully slow to build and the entire dish was held together with fried basil leaves that released a pleasant aroma throughout the meal. Lovely, lovely duck. The dessert that I tried was the sticky rice with mango. It would have been a wonderful dessert, if there was NO chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and cherry. The wonderful simple asian dessert was over dressed and Americanized to the point where it lost it's charm. That's why there were only 4 stars instead of 5. But please TRY THE FOOD, it's DELICIOUS!

Wonderful from the food to the decor to the service.
