I went to Mediterraneo Grill tonight for my third visit. We ordered the tebullah and kibbeh for appetizers, and falafel sandwich and Mediterraneo Chicken for our meals. The tebullah was very fresh, and the kibbeh was very yummy. I will order that again. The Mediterraneo Chicken came with a very generous portion of seasoned chicken, wrapped inside a large pita and then toasted. My side dish was salad, and that is very good (you have a choice of fries, salad, or rice for a side dish). They did seem slammed tonight and a little understaffed, but they did their best. They had their hands full, but the waiter still came by to apologize and to assure us that he would be right back.

Hey you DeKalb folks, consider yourself lucky to have a place like this right in town. I live in Chicago, I am married to a Syrian guy, so I have had my share of Middle Eastern cuisine. You cannot find anything comparable in Chicago. Even Alhambra in all its glory is nothing compared to the downright amazing food you will get here. And.... it's reasonably priced and BYOB. Good job to the owner for bringing wonderfully diverse and high quality cuisine to DeKalb! I'm waiting for the expansion to Chicago...

What I love: Definitely the food -- it's outstanding! But the service is consistently questionable. When I'm here, I typically order the falafel sandwich, but without tahini sauce -- I can't stand tahini; I have only received my sandwich the way I asked one time. Every other time, I have dealt with the tahini. Similarly, I've only ordered delivery twice, and on both occasions, they brought me the wrong side. When they brought me lentil soup instead of french fries tonight, I called and asked them to bring the fries...but they never came.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the setting. There were a variety of food choices to pick from on the menu. They had a small beer menu and larger wine list. Homemade lemonade and iced teas. Everything was great except our waiter was a bit subpar. He took a while returning to our table and didnt take our order until AFTSR we were already done with our appetizers. He was nice, but a bit lagging. The other waitstaff appeared to be bright and enthusiastic. But the food has always been grreat! Will return again. I recommend.

I absolutely love this place. I can not visit DeKalb and not stop in for something. They have wonderful food and the owner is really great! I had my graduation party here about two years ago and everything was wonderful. I recommend this place to all my friends.

First visit. We were the only ones in there, but it was a bit late and there was a steady stream of take-out walk-ins. As an appetizer we had the stuffed grape leaves - they were less than stellar - the rice inside was way overcooked and very sticky/chewy and I've had much better yoghurt sauce. The main course was quite good - we had the Mediterraneo Fajita sandwich and the Beef Shawarma, both were very tasteful as was the side salad we had with them. The cost was reasonable, not cheap and not expensive. Service was nice and prompt and the atmosphere was OK. All in all I'm willing to give it another try and try some other parts of the menu. DeKalb can certainly use more authentic cuisine restaurants!

As good as it gets this far from Chicago!!!!! Incredible food. Service a wee bit slow but not bad. The servers we've had the several times we've been there have been very helpful with menu suggestions. The mezza (sp?) sampler alone could fill you up. The buffet is so worth it to sample their menu offerings. Best hummus & baba ganoush. Falafil is very good as a side. As with other reviewers, the dolmas/dolmadas (grape leaves) were nothing to write home about. So, I'll just make them at home and keep eating everything else they offer!!!!! As often as we can!!!!

Opened in November 2009; next to Wright's Jewelry. Very long skinny space with a couple of nice mosaics on the wall. For some reason, this place has been promoted in the local press as "catering primarily to vegetarians." While the menu is about half veg, there are only two veg sandwiches available and no entrees. Meat eaters will find plenty to keep them happy. I went for the Sunday buffet, which they appear to have discontinued. Vegetarian options were slim: they were out of falafel. The fatoush salad was tasty, not too sour; the baba ghanoush and hummus were both nice, and there was also a simple but good vegetarian lentil soup. The cold grilled eggplant was OK. I'll look forward to trying the spanakopita and their pomegranate date appetizer later. They have this amazing egg-based garlic dip I've never run into before; fluffy and tasty. The mint tea is a mug with a tea bag and fresh mint leaves in it. The orange blossom lemonade was very flowery; on a subsequent visit it tasted more of lemonade. Helpful wait staff. Buffet plus two drinks was $14 plus tip; buffet price is "introductory" so it will probably go up. On a subsequent visit tried the falafel, the eggplant sandwich and the vegetarian grape leaves. The bread is more like a lavash than a standard pita; the falafel was good; you might want to rearrange the eggplant sandwich so the fillings are more evenly distributed. The grape leaves are fine but nothing to write home about, and come with a tasty yogurt dip. Baklava is obviously from a bakery, not made on premises - it's flaky and good, not oversweet.

So we drove out to Dekalb on a recommendation to go to Pita Pete's by one of my friends. So I checked the Yelp reviews and they were good and it said they were open on Sundays but when we got there the door said summer hours closed in Sunday's. Now I'm very hungry and in the mood for Mediterranean cuisine and just drove 40 minutes to get here so I recheck Yelp and find this terrific cozy little shop had pretty good reviews as well so we headed here. We ordered a falafel appetizer which was pretty good not the best but very good. I then ordered the steak schwarma and my wife had a lamb burger. Mine came with yummy rice and my wifes with a delicious salad. We then ordered a dessert she called a Mediterranean bread pudding of sorts which was very good. I noticed its a BYOB place if you want to bring in a beer or bottle of wine to accompany your dinner.

The food here is really good and I'm so thankful for that. It's 4 stars for DeKalb, 3 1/2 stars in general. I was glad that I liked Mediterraneo because it's the only Mediterranean food in the area (that I know of). That's if you don't count places that only serve gyros and gyro plates. The falafel was delicious and I would recommend the muhamara for appetizers. I could eat just that for a meal too it's so good. Had the lamb shank and it was good too. I can't wait to go back and try something new.

My girlfriend and I discovered this place in the Fall of 2010 in going through coupons given to students at NIU. We're big gyro fans and had been searching for a good place in DeKalb with zero success. I'm not sure why I never thought to try this place, but after getting a coupon we headed over. I finally had my gyro spot in DeKalb! Rather than give you the Americanized version of meat/ingredients wrapped up in a pita, you can get the authentic version with a pita lying flat on your plate with a heaping pile of meat, feta cheese and other fixings. A gyro quesadilla is also available, which more closely resembles the Americanized version. My girlfriend and I hit this place up every few months for a date night. It isn't the cheapest place for students to eat, but it's hard to resist as it always hits the spot and doesn't leave me feeling like crap like most meals this student eats. I'd heard others say they have never had good service here, but I have never had service I could complain about. To be fair, we rarely go during the lunch or dinner rush. But, our food is always out on a timely manner and the servers check up on us constantly.

This place is amazing. I have never been disappointed. I frequently get the falafel. It's a never fail. And I tried the muhamara for the first time here and I was so impressed. I brought my dad here and he couldn't stop eating everything from the lentil soup to the dessert of baklava. And my dad is picky! Get the samosas as an appetizer. Great place. Good for DeKalb.

I love Mediterraneo. The people that run this place are super nice and the food is delicious. Now, it's not the best Mediterranean food I've ever had, but for a small college town in the middle of nowhere you cannot go wrong. The shishkabobs are amazing. I've struggled for a while to find "my dish" - the one I'll get by default, but the shish-ka-bobs are definitely it. I love the exposed brick decor as well. This is a true gem in Dekalb - I'm craving it right now. I just might have to stop by for dinner! It's also BYOB, so bring a bottle and stay awhile!

I really like the food here, but the service tends to leave a bit to be desired and things can come out painstakingly slow if there are more than three tables to cover in the place. I've taken many different people here for the freshly made hummus and other specialties, but was totally let down the past few times by service. I went with my best friend and ranted and raved, and then we both ordered vegetarian dishes, and were in the place for over an hour and a half. And no... we didn't BYOB (though it is an option... plus!) and would have gladly eaten and been out in 30-35 mins. Upon coming home I also found that my salad that I had taken home was still "dirty" and not washed properly. I did call them and tell them so hopefully this was just a one time over site. It is nice to have something semi decent in the DeKalb area.

We really like this place and we've been in the restaurant and eaten the food they've catered for several events. It's not out of this world spicy or so crazy and weird that you could never imagine liking it. It's subtly different - their hummus is the BEST I've ever had! The food tastes exactly the same when they deliver it for catering, too. I strongly suggest the lunch buffet on Sundays if you want to give it a try - I believe it's $10 a person. For food that's different and delicious, hit this place up!

Go and eat at this clean, pleasant spot on the main drag in downtown DeKalb! The decor includes hanging brass lanterns lined up along the ceiling and Byzantine-looking framed ceramic tile mosaics. Tasteful music was playing off the internet. The food, especially the appetizers, were presented very beautifully and were indeed appetizing. I enjoyed the falafel: fine textured, good herbal flavor, crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. With fresh lettuce, cucumber and tomato. Mom's eggplant was really delicious, my favorite item here. The hummus and baba ghanoush were competent. The stuffed grape leaf was good. The lentil soup had an ample quantity of lentils, and was very filling! The rice that comes with the kefta entree had raw grated carrot in it; the rice was raw-tasting and crunchy. The half-chicken, well-cooked, had good flavor but was a little dried out. The kefta could use a little bit more flavor and was also a little dry. The gyros were average. All these entree meats were cool to the touch when they reached the table. It was a cold winter's day (under 20 degrees F) -- maybe the kitchen was not warm, since there were only us and another party there for lunch. I look forward to going there again. They are worth your support.

Very warm restaurant, excellent middle eastern food. The Sunday buffet was very nice, hummus, baba ganoush, super lentil soup, gyros, chicken, falafel, etc. desert of pomegranate dates stuffed with feta was superb and unexpected in Dekalb. Will return on our next sojourn in this direction.

The food is good. The restaurant's decor seems disproportionate to the quality of its food; it seems like the owner (who came off to me like a bit of a blowhard) is trying to create a much more upscale dining experience, which is at odds with the plastic placemat menus and gyro entrees. Overall the food is good, but it shouldn't try so hard to be more fancy than it is.

I have ordered twice from this place. Once on GrubHub and the other over the phone. Let me tell you this, these people need some training on listening and reading. Both times I ordered a gyro, clearly stated both times that I wanted it PLAIN and BOTH times they put onions, feta cheese, and tomatoes on it. I guess it was my fault for not checking before I left the second time, but I since the guy that took my order confirmed everything after I was done ordering, I figured they wouldn't screw up again... I give this place two stars because they have a good gyro.

This place is so good!! The buffet on Sundays is my favorite. The food is always fresh and dessert is included. For $10 you cannot beat that. I've been here several times and the food has been consistently fresh and delicious. It's hard to come by good tasting falafel.... This place sure knows how to make it! Oh, and it's very vegetarian friendly. Great addition for DeKalb!

An Angel LOSES its Wings when a BYOB restaurant ceases BYOB...so sad ',',', I had hoped to take this review UP after a number of visits but the death of BYOB prevents that,,, (ANGEL's Wings FALLING off!... :( An A-OK, strong 2 star, after losing a half star. STILL the place to head for when the Thai restaurant across the street throws you out at 2:31 because the lunch menu is over. Loong appetizer list and I think you Can make a meal here out of the appetizers because no good Veggie combo and Meat combo meals imo. Suitably under-seasoned for corn country, but ODD that there are no Tahini or Hotter chili sauces around for those of us who like to open our pores and live FOREVER. NO improvement in sound absorption, YOU and your neighbors are the sound absorption, LOUD. The Good Newz is that their new Beer Menu (Death of BYOB!) isn't bad but it isn't that good either. The Wine menu has obviously been created by an East Coast import company with only ONE California choice in both the red & whites. The best deal I saw was a decent French Rose' bottle for $20, unfortunately with no by the glass choice. BIG Hole in the many BETTER lower end West Coast red & whites, particularly by the glass. So drink beer here now if you have to. (PS don't let your kidz go 2 graduate skool in a town without better BYOB choices ;~)

Food is kind of hit or miss. My husband's gyro was good, but the pitazza that it was not - all the veggies were way undercooked and it was filled with basically raw onions. My lamb kabob was incredibly salty. Unreasonably salty. I like a lot of salt and this was just too much. They were able to work with my severe soy allergy, so I will give them points for that. Service was very very slow. It took about 15 minutes to get the check and another 15 to get our card and receipt back. The restaurant was pretty chilly and wide-open. Probably not great for an intimate date, as it can get pretty loud.

My lovely bride has been murmuring to eat here quite sometime but not being a fan of Mediterranean cuisine she could read my lack of enthusiasm which makes my giving Mediterraneo four stars a surprise but indeed I am a fan. Because of my ongoing life long between my taste buds and onions the pickings were slim but I settled on the gyro sandwich and it was surprisingly huge and tastier then expected. My lovely bride choose the chicken sish-ka-bob which caught my eye on the menu but seeing it was a veggie chicken combo thing I figured it be two chunks of chicken and the rest all veggies but I was mistaken at actually was two wish-ka-bobs of chicken with about 6 pieces of chicken each and only one with the veggies. the amount of chicken beat out the veggies big time. Which even though I didn't try it was what pushed my decision on a four star rating. Out server was very friendly and attentive but not so attentive he became a nuisance. My out the door is I expected my visit to Mediterraneo Grill to be perhaps a one time thing but such is not the case it is now on my "Scottie Bear's Places to Eat" list

Wow!! Im 100% lebanese and my mom makes amazing lebanese food but let me tell you this place gives her a solid run for her money. For a middle eastern place being in dekalb it is a little expensive but to be honest it is well worth every penny! My expectations weren't that high when i walked it but after having their falafel and hummus as an appetizer i was more then impressed. If this place was in downtown Chicago it will kill Rezas and Mezas no question about it. I had the combination Kabobs for dinner which the chicken was a little spicy but it was soo juicy that i had no problem dealing with the spice. They also have awesome middle eastern sweets! If you have a chance check out Mediterraneo grill its awesome!

I have been there a couple of times for supper with friends, most recently in March 2012. The food is delicious, and the portions are generous. They even endow bean soup with excellent flavour. It seems that the cuisine focuses on the area from Greece eastward; there are no western-Mediterranean dishes. The prices are average or even slightly low. Service was adequate and courteous although they will not do separate bills, which is silly in a college town. Overall, I highly recommend the establishment.

Like most people who look for mediterranean food in the midwest, a handful of things come to mind, often including Falafel, Pitas, and Hummus. Mediterraneo does a fine job on those. But having been a handful of times now, I would definitely upgrade my rating and recommend a few other dishes instead of anything I've had before. The barbecued chicken is excellent. Moist, juicy, really nicely spiced. It's hard not to want this every time. And the baba ghanoush. Simple, but seriously good. Those two dishes upgraded my rating alone.

I love Mediterranean food, so for me this place was a jem and a surprise I was happy to discover upon coming to DeKalb. We ordered an appetizer plate that featured baba ghanoush, muhammura, hummus, falafel, grape leaves, and some feta cheese. The dips were all on par with the best I've had before and didn't disappoint. The falafel was pretty average -- not great, but not terrible. The pita bread was perfect. We also got dates stuffed with cheese and covered with pomegranate syrup. A bit expensive, but so, so delicious. I ordered a gyro, and the portion size was huge. It was absolutely delicious, and I would order it again. One of my friends ordered the chicken shawarma, and I liked that even better than my gyro, so I know I'll have a dilemma the next time I go to Mediterraneo. I'd definitely recommend it, especially if you know from previous experience that Mediterranean flavors are up your alley.

So it seems that Mediterraneo (or "Mediterraneaneo," as my fiancee likes to call it) is a seriously underrated establishment. I see that it has received pretty good reviews on Yelp, but I can't help but wonder who these people are because every time I have been there, it has been very empty. And it shouldn't be. The restaurant offers a good mixture of different types of Mediterranean food. My meal yesterday was actually just a combination of two appetizers, but it was enough food to fill me up that day and a whole extra meal for work lunch! The prices are pretty reasonable, especially considering how much food you get and that you will probably have leftovers (plus you get pita and hummus AND meals come with soup/salad). The food isn't just plentiful, either. It is delicious! I would highly recommend the Mediterraneo Artichoke and the Potato Mofarakeh. Both were PERFECTLY seasoned and delicious! The potatoes had nice blend of rich spices and tart lemon, and the Mediterraneo (I had mine with meat, but it can be ordered without as well) is a must-have for any artichoke lover. The service was really good too. The waitress was new, but prompt and helpful, and the manager (I assume?) stopped by to make sure everything was good as well. He let us know that they have an $8.95 buffet on Sundays and was very helpful when I was a total pain with a Restaurant.com gift certificate. Also--side bonus--they have a full house jazz band there on Thursday nights (and they're really good)! My only complaint is that, as I said, it tends to be pretty quiet in there, and I remember it being somewhat drafty in the winter, but all in all, a great place with a coffee-shop-esque atmosphere! Go! Go now!

Mediteraneo is a good place to eat. I have tried the gyro and chicken shawarma both were seasoned well. Their fries are really good they have good crunch. The side salad is also pretty good over all it's a good place to try.... I hope it lasts.

Took a group of high school kids here for dinner before a vocal competition at DHS and had a great time! Shwarma was great and I loved the lamb shank entree. Highly recommend it !!

The hummus and baba ganoush were excellent!!! The best I ever had and i eat in arab places in Bridgeview/Chicago. I had lamb and dessert, both were excellent.

I really like Mediterraneo! Especially in a place like Dekalb! I have gone here quite a few times...the service is good, and the restaurant is narrow, but very clean. I feel that different items all have their own appeal here so be sure to try new things! that said I highly, HIGHLY recommend their spanakopita appetizer, it comes with a rich creamy tomato sauce on it--which seems kind of weird for standard Greek cuisine--but it's so delicious! I can't order it enough. They also have excellent hummus, super-fantastic gyros (probably the best in the area) and kefka kabobs. If you don't know what to get they also have a good variety plate. I've only had their falafel appetizer once, but I wasn't super pleased with it, they were kind of dry.

Good place. There is none other like it in the DeKalb area. They also have a band on Thursday nights to provide a great atmosphere. I hope this place stays because it adds just a bit more culture to DeKalb and DeKalb needs all the culture it can get.

My husband and I had carryout for lunch. We aren't really familiar with this type of food and were pleasantly surprised. I needed something different and this fit the bill. We will be back.

Mediterraneo Grill is a fantastic find, it's one of my favorite places in DeKalb!! It's tiny, so don't miss it - right next door to Otto's Club & Underground. The decor is interesting, the servers and the owner are super nice and the food is amazing!! The gyros are the best in town, great hummus and tabbouleh, and the falafel is amazing! The appetizers are all fantastic - try the appetizer sampler, it will fill up two people no problem! If you're a vegetarian this place can definitely accommodate you as well. If like me you appreciate healthy food this is the place to be. A lot of dishes have very fresh ingredients and even the meats aren't too greasy. The portions are huge but a lot of the food keeps well, so I usually make it into several meals/snacks. On Sundays they've got an all you can eat buffet, which is great for trying new dishes. If you like trying new things or if you're just not brave enough to order a whole meal that you've never tried before Sunday is a great day to go! I believe they're still working on a larger desert selection, so far they've only got a couple of things, but they are delicious. They also have BYOB, for those who like to have a little something with their meal. The non-alcoholic drinks they have are pop, jasmine lemonade (very interesting), hot mint tea (my favorite) and Turkish coffee (you know that super strong stuff that is more solid than liquid). I have got to say something about the atmosphere. It is very intriguing: there are exposed brick walls, with interesting hangings and pictures, beautiful lanterns hanging overhead and wood floors. Simple but classy and romantic. In all the times I've been there it's never been crowded, except during Sunday buffet. So even though there are no booths it still feels intimate, private and relaxing. There is soft Mediterranean music in the background, which adds to the intimate relaxing feel and which I greatly enjoy. The delivery service leaves a lot to be desired... Most of the time I called they didn't have a driver available until later or were going to call the driver to see if he is available. So I pretty much gave up on calling them for delivery... But don't let that turn you off. Please do come to dine in. The location of this restaurant makes it difficult to advertise and build up a customer base. Many good restaurants have failed or moved from this location. I would really hate for this place to close down, so let us all help keep it in business.

Not bad, and a bit surprising to see this restaurant in downtown staying alive. I have eaten there twice, and the food has been fairly good each time. My chief complaint is in the service. The night I was there one waitress was attempting to handle about 10 tables worth of people. This made getting refills and such kind of a pain in the **s.

It turns out that they weren't closed, just closed for remodeling. I sure wish that they had put a sign on the door and a message on their answering machine indicating that. So I finally got to eat there last week. I have mixed feelings about the place. I ordered the mixed kebabs, and they were very overcooked and dry. I mentioned it to our waiter and he asked if I wanted him to take it off the bill. I said no, that I just wanted to let him know. He took it off of our bill anyway, which was very nice, and the service was very good. My husband had the gyro plate and thought it was very good, and I had some of his fries, which were excellent. So, though I was disappointed in my dish, I will definitely give it another chance.

After attending a graduation ceremony, we went to Mediterraneo Grill to celebrate. Friendly, casual vibe. Good job at accommodating a large group. Perfect place for a celebratory dinner. BYOB, can't remember if there's a corkage fee. My husband was very happy with his big plate of meat. Gyro Plate ($10.95): generous portion of gyro meat topped with onion, tomato, olives, feta, yogurt. Served with fries. Looked good, but I didn't try any as I'm not much of a gyro meat fan. I was tempted by the Spinach Pie, but settled on the Mediterraneo Fajita ($10.95). Chicken breast marinated in a tomato house and cooked with onions and green peppers. A little odd that this was their "fajita" dish. This tangy tomato marinade was delish. Tender chunks of chicken. Wish there were more onions and green peppers, less rice. So good with the jammy Malbec was brought along for dinner.

fantastic food, and really nice pleasant wait staff! hidden jem of Dekalb. it has become a Chicagoland Mediterranean favorite for me! the the chicken schwarma wrap is delicious!

I really like this place. Sometimes, the rice is undercooked, so order at your own risk there. The dining environment in the restaurant is not ideal, a little too dark and noisy. Usually, I get delivery and everything tends to be pretty great. We really like the savory pumpkin pies and the orange blossom lemonade.

Delicious food! We order out from there almost every week and the falafel sandwich, chicken kabobs and spanakopita are among the best we have has. The new recipe for lentil soup is excellent too. The restaurant is cozy and quaint. Friendly wait staff and a decent selection of wine including Lebanese.

Very good food and ambiance. The prices are the only reason I mark them down slightly, but this is a definite mainstay for my fam and coworkers. Maybe surprisingly, the samosas and french fries are some of our favorites, but I highly recommend the hummus, baba ganoush, or labna.

Dekalb has very few good restaurants. Mediterraneo is definitely one of our favorite options. The food is great, service is great. I'm not sure why it's always so empty at dinnertime, but hey, I don't mind. There are also lots of vegetarian options. Great french fries, by the way.

This is the place that gave me a love for hummus. Their food is unbeatable and the staff is friendly. The restaurant is unusually shaped, but when added to the decorations it provides a great visual show. I recommend their Gyro Quesadilla, as well as their hummus.

Ate there lat night. Great menu variety, and everything we tried was good. They now have a beer and wine menu with a fairly good selection. Our service was great, though it was a pretty slow night. Worth a stop in if you like Mediterranean fare.

Stopped in to Mediterraneo for a quick bite. Small little family owned place. Very comfortable and quaint. I had the Lamb Shank. It was fantastic. Fall off the bone tender and the tomato sauce had a nice little kick. There are not many places to find good food in Dekalb, but this place hit the spot. Definitely recommend you eat here if in the area.

Service was Terrible!! I don't blame the whole staff but my server was just bad. When I sat down I didn't have silverware... when my appetizer came I brought this to my server's attention and he said he was sorry, after 5 minutes of waiting I asked another server for it... when I was 1/4 of the way done my meal was brought to me (i never received my soup thank you) and the check was dropped with 1/3 of the meal left. Besides the poor service the food was good and the atmosphere (live stand-up bass) was great...

Surprised by the star rating this place has! Let's discuss: We (party of 2) came on a Saturday around 6:30pm. The place was pretty empty. We had slooooow and horrible service. We had a 40+ minute wait for an appetizer sampler with only one item that really even needed to be prepared (falafel); in fact, the soup from my dinner came 10 minutes before our appetizer. At 35 minutes we asked about our appetizer and our waitress said the cook had just put the falafel in the fryer. WTF?! When we got it, the falafel didn't seem like it was "right out of the fryer." The sampler itself was just OK. Only two TINY cubes (single bites) of feta. The roasted red pepper hummus was pretty good though. The mint tea wasn't minty - don't recommend it. Lentil soup was creamy - very unusual and without lentils. I don't recommend it if you're looking for traditional lentil soup. My dining partner ordered a chicken schwarma sandwich with fries. It came with rice instead. We didn't see our waitress for a bit to tell her, so by the time someone asked how things were, we were ready to leave and didn't need fries in place of the rice. They did bring a to-go order of fries with our bill, which was nice. I ordered chicken kabobs and my rice was undercooked and still quite hard. The rest of the dish was not memorable. Nothing was taken off our bill for the wait, which our waitress knew we were not happy about. I also mentioned the wait to another staff member, who'd been the one to bring the fries. Nope. Nothing. In honor of good customer service, they should know better, or at the least, apologize profusely in the hopes of keeping a customer. I don't find myself in DeKalb often, but I assure you I won't end up here again when I do.

*insert fist pumping here* *and now I high five random people in downtown DeKalb* That's what a good meal will do to people. Eating naturally makes your body release endorphins, the feel good neurotransmitters. But when you add GOOD food on top of that hand to mouth exercise??? Oh, yeah. We went on Sunday, we were informed that they only have the buffet then until three. I normally hate buffets, and never go. They make me sad, especially if someone is eating alone. So I was a bit hesitant to get a table. I have a thing when people over do their plates. It takes me back to my childhood days and my mom watching Richard Simmons and his emotional pleas for overweight people to get their life on track. Sad, tears, literally. Weird? More than likely. But their buffet is classy and elegant even. It was nice to get a taste of everything. They had lentil Soup, baba ganoush, gyro meat with tzatziki sauce, turmeric rice and a host of other things. I can't believe they've been here for two years and this is my first time there. The atmosphere is nice. I liked the exposed brick. Tables were lined on either side of the room so no worries about being the "Island" table, which I tend to have a fear of. It seems like it would have a great ambience at night. Romantic? Probably. I will definitely be back here to try more of their menu.

From Chicago where the Mediterranean food is on point... I go to Israel a few times a year and I must say this was a great find in DeKalb. Possibly the best falafel I've had outside of Israel. The greek salad was also on point, thick juicy peices of chicken and very fresh vegetables. Great hummas too, pita was a bit dry though. All in all great food.

My last tip was over three years ago. I just ate here tonight and savored every bite! Seriously, the best restaurant in DeKalb County. Everything is high quality, arrives at the table fresh and delicious. Example tonight was Potato Mofarakeh--hot crispy, hint of lemon, carmelized garlic, and fresh parsley. I tried the feta pie for the first time tonight--amazing! My husband always enjoys the mixed kabob dinner. Service is great. Also a great place to have cater you event--we use them frequently in my workplace. Don't be afraid of eating here because it's "exotic". It's delicious, homestyle food and the staff will make you feel at home.

I suppose if you want some Middle Eastern fare when in town, this place may be your only option. I'd hoped it would be a better option. Service was alright, the food was only so-so. Falafels seemed like they were from a box mix, the meat and spinach pie crusts seemed mass-produced as well. The lentil soup was thin and a bit too lemony for my taste. Priced beyond what the taste delivered.

The Spanikopita is indescribable . The hummus is made from scratch , it's incomparable. The service is amazing. I would recommend the cheesehalawa for dessert. There's really nothing on the menu I don't like.

Stopped here after seeing all the great reviews. Service is very attentive, sometimes overly so. The menu is a lot to look over if you haven't had mediterranean before and our server was very anxious to take our order, but she was helpful in making suggestions as well. She recommended the Greek import beer which was really good and gave an air of authenticity to the meal lol. We started with the falafel which was awesome. My husband had the chicken shwarma wrap and I had the eggplant wrap. The chicken was great, fantastic flavor. My eggplant still had the skin on it and when grilled it becomes almost like plastic, so I had to pick it all out of my wrap which was annoying. But the flavor was good. The only thing that kinda threw us was our meals were served with french fries and ketchup? Kinda strange at what appears to be a very authentic restaurant. Next time we will stick with the shawarma and try some of the other specialties.

Really enjoyed the food! The beef schwarma had was tasty when I added tzecki sauce, the portions were good, variety was good and the service was good. Loved the hummus :)

Ate here recently. The location is nice, the service is good. The food was OK... not stellar and not poor.

Dekalb has very few good restaurants. Mediterraneo is definitely one of our favorite options. The food is great, service is great. I'm not sure why it's always so empty at dinnertime, but hey, I don't mind. There are also lots of vegetarian options. Great french fries, by the way.

The food was great. The place was nice. There is nothing like this in DeKalb. The only thing is that it took a little bit long. Definite Revisit.

Go! Go now!

Mediteraneo is a good place to eat. I have tried the gyro and chicken shawarma both were seasoned well. Their fries are really good they have good crunch. The side salad is also pretty good over all it's a good place to try.... I hope it lasts.

This is the place that gave me a love for hummus. Their food is unbeatable and the staff is friendly. The restaurant is unusually shaped, but when added to the decorations it provides a great visual show. I recommend their Gyro Quesadilla, as well as their hummus.

Good place. There is none other like it in the DeKalb area. They also have a band on Thursday nights to provide a great atmosphere. I hope this place stays because it adds just a bit more culture to DeKalb and DeKalb needs all the culture it can get.

(5)Adam P.
Great falafel. I haven't tried anything else yet, but the pittas are great too.
(4)Charm S.
The food is fresh, healthy, and plated nicely. Mediterraneo Grill makes a good lunch place and is great for dinner as well. A plus - they deliver in the evenings.
(4)Ashley E.
(2)Kat O.
(4)Mindy M.
I absolutely love this place. I can not visit DeKalb and not stop in for something. They have wonderful food and the owner is really great! I had my graduation party here about two years ago and everything was wonderful. I recommend this place to all my friends.
(5)Yves M.
(3)Jesse P.
Really great place! I'm am not much into trying new types of food, but my coworkers were raving about this place. I went with them for a lunch meeting and I can understand what the fuss is about. Everything was fantastic! I ordered the steak-kobob and it was simply outstanding! Will definitely go back!!

Nummy!!!! Great food. But the special tea is just instant Lipton covered in fancy tea servings overall loved it
(4)Teri B.

(4)Randi A.
(3)Alexandra N.
Their brunch buffet reminds me of home. Great food and decently priced. The layout of the establishment is a little odd, but that's often typical of DeKalb's downtown. Great falafel.
(3)Andrew P.
(5)Julie T.
(5)Derek G.
(4)Jake B.
Ate there lat night. Great menu variety, and everything we tried was good. They now have a beer and wine menu with a fairly good selection. Our service was great, though it was a pretty slow night. Worth a stop in if you like Mediterranean fare.
(4)Sal S.
Great place, great food. must try
(5)Monica D.
(3)Christina K.
(4)Khalid B.
The place is decent and the food is great. I loved their garlic sauce one of the rare Mideastern restaurants in the area who prepare it perfectly. The bofiet is great and only for 7.5$ the only disadvantage is the service which is not that perfect
(4)Eriko K.

Fan-Friggin-Tasitc!!! I have been trying to find a great Falafel in this area for a while now and THIS IS IT!!!! Had Falafel and Spanakopita delivered. Not only was it fast, but it was fresh as well. I can't wait to try more items on the menu. Don't miss this place if you're looking for authentic and tasty food!

Excellent dining experience, service was exceptional. Samosas were my favorite, will be back again. Grateful for the really good service with a smile.

I just love the food here! Come in and see Angela, she is a total sweetheart! Lamb kabob is excellent!
(5)Esmy G.
This place is absolutely amazing. I don't normally rave about food places but this was great. Excellent service, everyone was super nice and the atmosphere was great. Definitely recommend trying this place out. I ordered the gyro and my bf had the need shawarma and both were amazing.
(5)Ryan H.
(3)David G.
(2)Christina I.
(5)Gerry A.

(5)Yves M.

Really great place! I'm am not much into trying new types of food, but my coworkers were raving about this place. I went with them for a lunch meeting and I can understand what the fuss is about. Everything was fantastic! I ordered the steak-kobob and it was simply outstanding! Will definitely go back!!

Nummy!!!! Great food. But the special tea is just instant Lipton covered in fancy tea servings overall loved it
(4)Teri B.

(5)Wali R.
The food was great. The place was nice. There is nothing like this in DeKalb. The only thing is that it took a little bit long. Definite Revisit.
(5)Josh H.
(4)Kayci S.

Go! Go now!
(4)Christina K.
(4)Khalid B.
The place is decent and the food is great. I loved their garlic sauce one of the rare Mideastern restaurants in the area who prepare it perfectly. The bofiet is great and only for 7.5$ the only disadvantage is the service which is not that perfect

(4)Randi A.
(3)Alexandra N.
Their brunch buffet reminds me of home. Great food and decently priced. The layout of the establishment is a little odd, but that's often typical of DeKalb's downtown. Great falafel.
(3)Andrew P.
(5)Julie T.
(5)Derek G.
(4)Monica D.
(3)Aimee P.
Mediteraneo is a good place to eat. I have tried the gyro and chicken shawarma both were seasoned well. Their fries are really good they have good crunch. The side salad is also pretty good over all it's a good place to try.... I hope it lasts.
(4)Michael B.
Took a group of high school kids here for dinner before a vocal competition at DHS and had a great time! Shwarma was great and I loved the lamb shank entree. Highly recommend it !!
(4)Betty K.
The hummus and baba ganoush were excellent!!! The best I ever had and i eat in arab places in Bridgeview/Chicago. I had lamb and dessert, both were excellent.
(5)Nat H.
(4)Dwight D.
Good place. There is none other like it in the DeKalb area. They also have a band on Thursday nights to provide a great atmosphere. I hope this place stays because it adds just a bit more culture to DeKalb and DeKalb needs all the culture it can get.
(4)Ginger M.
My husband and I had carryout for lunch. We aren't really familiar with this type of food and were pleasantly surprised. I needed something different and this fit the bill. We will be back.
(5)Tatiana P.
(4)Benjamin S.
(3)Barbara T.

(4)Joshi Y.
fantastic food, and really nice pleasant wait staff! hidden jem of Dekalb. it has become a Chicagoland Mediterranean favorite for me! the the chicken schwarma wrap is delicious!
(5)David N.
Really enjoyed the food! The beef schwarma had was tasty when I added tzecki sauce, the portions were good, variety was good and the service was good. Loved the hummus :)
(4)Sara B.
(4)John P.
(4)Paul D.
Very good food and ambiance. The prices are the only reason I mark them down slightly, but this is a definite mainstay for my fam and coworkers. Maybe surprisingly, the samosas and french fries are some of our favorites, but I highly recommend the hummus, baba ganoush, or labna.
(4)J M.
Ate here recently. The location is nice, the service is good. The food was OK... not stellar and not poor.
(3)Jerelyn B.
Dekalb has very few good restaurants. Mediterraneo is definitely one of our favorite options. The food is great, service is great. I'm not sure why it's always so empty at dinnertime, but hey, I don't mind. There are also lots of vegetarian options. Great french fries, by the way.
(4)Eriko K.
(3)Lexi S.
This is the place that gave me a love for hummus. Their food is unbeatable and the staff is friendly. The restaurant is unusually shaped, but when added to the decorations it provides a great visual show. I recommend their Gyro Quesadilla, as well as their hummus.
(4)Jake B.
Ate there lat night. Great menu variety, and everything we tried was good. They now have a beer and wine menu with a fairly good selection. Our service was great, though it was a pretty slow night. Worth a stop in if you like Mediterranean fare.
(4)Sal S.
Great place, great food. must try
(5)Domenico D.
(4)Chris H.
(2)Samantha G.
(1)Dirk S.
Food is great and service is too. I've been there twice in the past month to tickle my tastebuds. It's been both lunch and dinner, with colleagues and family. I'll be back!
(5)Leah O.
(4)Trevor L.
Simply put, this is great food. The wine list works well with the flavors of the food. Great pricing, great atmosphere and very good service. The owner came out and thanked us for dining in the restaurant. Out of the 3 days of being here, this was the best.
(5)Benjamin B.
(4)Stacy W.
(5)Arnie N.
(2)Heather T.
The Spanikopita is indescribable . The hummus is made from scratch , it's incomparable. The service is amazing. I would recommend the cheesehalawa for dessert. There's really nothing on the menu I don't like.
(5)D C.

Food is great and service is too. I've been there twice in the past month to tickle my tastebuds. It's been both lunch and dinner, with colleagues and family. I'll be back!
(5)Heather D.
Excellent dining experience, service was exceptional. Samosas were my favorite, will be back again. Grateful for the really good service with a smile.
(5)Joe B.
(5)Ryan H.

(4)Trevor L.
Simply put, this is great food. The wine list works well with the flavors of the food. Great pricing, great atmosphere and very good service. The owner came out and thanked us for dining in the restaurant. Out of the 3 days of being here, this was the best.

Just found Turkish coffee is supposed to have grounds in it . Lol. Strange . Went back again. Falafel a little dry but very good!

(5)Michael R.
(4)Heather T.
The Spanikopita is indescribable . The hummus is made from scratch , it's incomparable. The service is amazing. I would recommend the cheesehalawa for dessert. There's really nothing on the menu I don't like.
(5)David G.
(2)Christina I.

(2)Alison H.

(4)Joshi Y.
fantastic food, and really nice pleasant wait staff! hidden jem of Dekalb. it has become a Chicagoland Mediterranean favorite for me! the the chicken schwarma wrap is delicious!
(5)David N.
Really enjoyed the food! The beef schwarma had was tasty when I added tzecki sauce, the portions were good, variety was good and the service was good. Loved the hummus :)
(4)Sara B.
(4)John P.
(4)Scott K.
(4)Mike K.
(5)Danny B.
(5)Wali R.
The food was great. The place was nice. There is nothing like this in DeKalb. The only thing is that it took a little bit long. Definite Revisit.
(5)Josh H.
(4)Kayci S.
(4)Heather M.
Go! Go now!
(4)Aimee P.
(5)Nat H.
(4)Benjamin S.
(3)Ginger M.
My husband and I had carryout for lunch. We aren't really familiar with this type of food and were pleasantly surprised. I needed something different and this fit the bill. We will be back.
(5)Lexi S.
This is the place that gave me a love for hummus. Their food is unbeatable and the staff is friendly. The restaurant is unusually shaped, but when added to the decorations it provides a great visual show. I recommend their Gyro Quesadilla, as well as their hummus.
(4)Tatiana P.
(4)Barbara T.
(3)Dwight D.
Good place. There is none other like it in the DeKalb area. They also have a band on Thursday nights to provide a great atmosphere. I hope this place stays because it adds just a bit more culture to DeKalb and DeKalb needs all the culture it can get.
