The food here was delicious! I had the avocado turkey burger, half half (fries, potato salad) and baked beans. Everything on my plate tasted amazing. The turkey burger patty meat was moist and flavorful, had plenty of slices of avocado and the bun had a nice seasoning to it. The potato salad was very unique but tasted good as well, as the fries did too. The baked beans were sweet and full of BBQ flavor. Service here was a little mediocre. I would definitely recommend this place if u are looking good quick sit down restaurant!

I miss Fatty's. I went there 2-3 times a year, and I never had a problem with it. The service is dreadful, but the waitresses are very attractive and the food is solid. I will say one thing, though. Don't order the tuxedo cake. I might have been the only one to ever order this thing, because it probably had been sitting in the fridge in case some idiot asked for dessert. I did not feel great after that. Potato salad is really good! Burgers are yummy, and so are the chicken fingers. It's the best sports bar in Dekalb, by a mile!

I liked this place and consider it as an option when I'm out on the town. The portions are large and the menu has many options. I'm inclined to give Fatty's a five star rating, but the times that I have been there, the customer service has been average or below average. I realize there are many college students working here, but good customer service is key! Fatty's is a great spot to watch a game with a lot of viewers. The outdoor seating area has an outdoor bar and is pretty cool. Overall, a great place to be.

Oh Fatty's the food is so good, but the service is always a disappointment. Throughout college I came here numerous of times just because of the food. The prices are reasonable and the fried potato salad just makes me weak in the knees thinking of about it! Fatty's has the biggest chicken strips I've ever seen too. The chicken strips are the size of a baby's arm. So why not the five stars if I love the food so much? The service is just horrible. Carryout takes 30 minutes for one sandwich with a bartender who makes you walk to the end of the counter just for takeout. Why walk all the way to the end? Because the bartender was too lazy...keep in mind there were only 3 people sitting at the bar. The food just takes forever here along with the refills.

Muskie burger was good.. But they didn't have nothing in bathroom to dry ur hands.. And it was kinda expensive $13+ for a burger fries and a diet coke to go..

Visited Fatty's after going apartment hunting at NIU, it turns out I'm going to be living directly across it. I'm so glad I am too. Other Yelpers have instilled hope into this bar for me, plus I only have good things to say about it from my visit on June 14th. There was live Country music. I'm not the most fond of it but I guess I'll have to get used to it. Anyways, the singer looks young but has an older, deep voice. I was impressed. I absolutely love the Voodoo Rum Bucket, its so delicious and its a lot to drink. We also ordered the Spinach Artichoke Dip which was delicious too. It came with a bunch of dip and red, brown and yellow chips. Fatty's, for your first visit, my impression was awesome. I'm definitely visiting here again, soon. I got two Voodoo Rum buckets, a Spinach Artichoke Dip and four cups of beer for around $31, not including tips..... being used to Chicago prices, I'm thankful it didn't burn a hole in my wallet. I take off one star because as I was making my way to the restroom, the men who work near the door were speaking behind my back as I passed. Things like, "he's so smashed, watch him act retarded." And some were smoking a cigarette blowing it right into my path where I was walking. I felt that was unnecessary, I mean its a bar and I spent a good 3 hours there drinking and eating.

Went back to NIU last weekend just for Fatty's potato salad and it was just as good as I remembered from 2007. They also have a huge beer and ale menu.

So the place is in a college town. I get it. It has some good and some bad points...where to start? The good: Domestic Beer specials. Who doesn't love that most nights there are specials and after all if it nothing special, I would like to save money on what I am drinking. They have a grilled chicken sandwich with roasted peppers on a tomato ciabbata bun. Wow. Seriously, it is so delicious. It is not on the healthy menu but you do not feel gross for eating this. It is filling and delicious. I loved it. Not the bad: The sides. I do not like their potato salad. It is some sort of grilled version of the usual fare. It seems dry. I find that either people love or hate it. This is not what annoys me the most. I have the option of french fries instead of this potato salad. The other side that comes with your meal is cole slaw or baked beans. As I am not a fan of either one, I get no third option. I just lose out. Fatty's packs you in tight, almost too tight. I have been to trivia there. It is fun, but very disorganized. Overall, the menu is hit or miss but it is a decent option in a town of not so decent.

Ooooooh, Fatty's. I've been gone from DeKalb for a solid 6 years, but Fatty's still has the stuff that I love. I was there last weekend for my yearly DeKalb trip (which is NEVER complete without a stop at Fatty's), and Fatty's, you still have the ability to make me drool. The cajun potato salad is still amazing, the kettle chips with jalapeno ketchup are still my favorite, and your beers are still so, so cheap. When I walk into your doors I feel like I'm 21 again (though, after looking around at all the girls wearing Bump-It's in their hair, I realize I'm definitely not). I don't know if Fatty's 40-cent beer night still exists in reality, but it will forever in my heart.

This is a consequential college bar for the students at Northern Illinois University. The menu looked pretty large for a bar and I have many good things about the food here from many sources. I came here to drink and watch the Bulls and Hawks the other night and it was a good sports bar environment despite the fact that most students were not watching any of the sporting event. The one bartender was busting his ass and was courteous. An overall typicall college big sports bar with plenty of parking and a nice outdoor patio.

It's a good atmosphere and the food is pretty decent. It's just hit or miss with the service. I don't go often because you can be kept waiting soooo long for a server to get your order, bring your food/drinks, etc. The burgers are good and the cajun potato salad lives up to all its hype.

If you try one thing here, be sure to try the Loaded Buffalo Fries! This dish has to be one of my favorites throughout the NIU/DeKalb area. The staff here is very friendly and the nights here can be fun especially when the weather is nice and the patio is open. The atmosphere is fairly laid back and full of NIU school spirit on game days during football season! Fatty's is definitely a staple in the NIU community!

I will always have fond memories of this place! Many times me and a group of guys would end up here after or in between classes at NIU, or the week before fall semester would start, or the best would be to celebrate after finals the second week of May or thru our summer sessions. I remember a few of these times just kicking back with a few beers and lunch and then cranking the music on the long drive home after my last final - playing loud rock n' roll in my car. Okay back to the main subject! The place always had good food, in my opinion. I didn't try everything on the menu, but the burgers and fries were always excellent. Id recommend that if nothing more. Sometimes there would be 'old man can days' where you could get cans of cold beer for $1.00. This was several years back now so I don't know if they still do this, but it was just nostalgic and cool to be sipping a cold 'Old Style' or 'Busch' beer in a can with our food. As I said, we ended up here a lot. Sometimes the service was slow, but we didn't mind. The early 20's waitresses were always pretty cute (most were probably NIU students) and we would engage in conversation with them when possible! There was a backroom with pool tables and that was cool too, sometimes we would play a few rounds of pool. The only downside that I remember vividly were the men's washrooms (especially the one by the main entrance right by the bar) were not the best, and smelled awful. The kinda dirty smell with a lot of "old lead water" stench. The restroom in the back area by the pool tables is a BIT better, but not by much! Other than though, it was a cool little place to hang out and get a quick lunch after or between classes. I miss Fatty's a LOT. Easilly 4 out of 5 stars, at least for my experiences!

I have been visiting Fatty's for years and I'm never disappointed by their food or the relaxed atmosphere. You have to order the pretzel nuggets appetizer, it comes with two dipping sauces, hot cheese and honey mustard. I tend to skip the cheese sauce since it's generally flavorless but the honey mustard is great! I had a salad with a fat-free strawberry vinaigrette on my latest visit, the dressing was great! It was sweet and tasted almost like a jam. (As a side note, I dipped some pretzel nuggets into the vinaigrette and it was a good combo). They make most side items fresh and on-site so they tend to taste better than sore purchased sides and are fresh. I usually get the a chicken sandwich on a pretzel roll or some kind of chicken wrap; all sandwiches and wraps have been good and I haven't regretted an order yet. The service however leaves something to be desired. I've been here many times over the years and it is very hit or miss. I try to remember that I'm in a college town and that most servers are kids who don't want to be there but it still bothers me. I mean how hard would it be to ask a customer if they would like a refill of soda or check on them after the meal is delivered... drives me crazy! I would recommend Fatty's for the unique and homemade food. Just don't expect the service to be equally good.

Went out with my girlfriend for my birthday. Food was great with large portions, which leads to the problem we had. My gf only ate half of her food, which is pretty standard, and asked for a box. We sat around for a little bit and then left. However, we left the box on the table. We realized our mistake while pulling out of the parking lot. I ran back inside, 3 minutes later at most, and they had already thrown it out. She was out half her meal because they didn't bother to set it aside for a few minutes. It ruined her experience, it was her first time there, and I doubt I'll be able to get to go back any time soon.

I can see why this would appeal to college students in such a college town, but I can't see myself eating here again when/if I'm back in DeKalb (not that I get out that way all that often.) As many have said already, the cajun potato "salad" was pretty good, but the burger I ordered was about as boring as it could possibly be. It was literally a bun with two pickles slices and a piece of lettuce. I guess you are supposed to add ketchup and/or mustard on your own. On the upside, it does look like a great place to just have a few beers and watch a game. The prices were good, and the wait staff was pretty nice.

Came in and sat down per what the sign said. Made eye contact with at least 3 staff members but still had to wait 20 minutes before my waitress came over. She took my drink order then walked away. Came back with it, set it down and walked away again. I had to flag her down to get a menu then when I was done she cleared the table and disappeared for 20 more minutes until I finally flagged her down to get my bill. Service was incredibly slow but the fried Cajun potato salad is worth it!

Fatty's is, hands down, the best place to eat in DeKalb. Imagine a fantastic selection of burgers and sandwiches on great bread, coupled with an ample selection of craft beers and a warm atmosphere/environment, and you have fatty's. They are known for the Cajun potato salad, and while delicious, it is not the shining gem here. No, the true coveted menu items are the fat boy burger (self-explanatory) and the steak LT (a take on a traditional BLT, but with NY strip and on texas toast). Honestly, you can get just about anything here and have a good time.
(4)
Chris T.
I'd give it a 0/5 if I could. We've walked out twice after sitting at a table for over 10 minutes without even a 'hello' from the wait staff. Needless to say, after the second time we haven't been back and never will. The times we did have service, beer refills were few and far between. The food is great, which makes it really unfortunate that they can't manage to train a waiter or waitress.

The food is awesome, especially the Cajun potato salad and the Italian nachos. But every single time I go the service is horrible. Today there were 4 waitresses and a bartender but it took 10 minutes to have anyone greet us 20 minutes to get a high chair and almost 40 minutes for an appetizer and a sandwich to show up. With less than 15 tables.

Really more like 3-1/2 stars, but I want to emphasize that the food is quite good even if the service is generally mediocre to poor. I went here for supper (occasionally lunch) moderately frequently during my undergrad (2009-2012). Now, I go there when I am back in town; I did most recently yesterday night (19 December). The food -- I mainly had their specialty burgers -- is quite good, especially considering it's a sports bar; my favourites are the Tex Mex burger and the Bayou burger. Fatty's is known for its Cajun potato salad, which some people (like myself) find excellent and others find not excellent. One thing I noticed in my most recent visit is that the beer selection, especially that of micro-brews, has really increased in the last year. They even give a beer menu now. As an example, they now have several Deschutes products available in bottles. The atmosphere is consistent with that of a sports bar -- a bit noisy, television sets everywhere. It can get downright raucous if a big match is on; I went there on the opening day for the Cubs in 2011. I also know that, later in the night (after 9:30ish), it transitions from being a restaurant/pub to being a tavern, which is also when patrons are carded at the door. Live bands play there occasionally, as well. The biggest downfall at Fatty's is the quality of service. A couple of the waitresses over the years have been exemplary. However, most of the others range from mediocre to among the worst I've seen. Some people remark that the waitresses are just college kids who really don't want to be there. I've been to other restaurants and establishments in DeKalb and currently live in a college town twice the size of DeKalb, and I've rarely seen the pattern of poor, slow service that I've observed at Fatty's. If the food weren't good, it is doubtful that Fatty's would survive.

A solid local pub for hanging out with friends, watching "the game," or having a laid-back meal. This is a place that caters to different populations at different times (business/university staff at lunch, a variety of people during NIU and Chicago sports games, and college students during late nights), which is what makes it a great local place. The different seating areas (main bar, private party area, and outdoor patio) offer a variety of options, as does the menu. There are plenty of unhealthy bar foods, but there are also light options as well. Fatty's is the official bar of Northern Illinois University, so it is often the only place you can get some of the more obscure ESPN 3 or Comcast Sports Net options. I'm a big fan of the chicken wrap, the Wayne Pretzky, and the Soprano Italian Beef--all large portions for decent prices. But of course what makes Fatty's famous is their Cajun potato salad. This beauty, slathered in chipotle mayo and bacon is a major heart attack on a plate--but in a good way. It's rich, so might I recommend ordering like a local and getting the "half and half" with your sandwich; the tasty home style fries will balance out the potato salad's caloric explosion. They don't call it Fatty's for nothin!

Great place for a party in the back room. Always has pool tables and darts open and avaliable. Outside seating The food is amazing, but be prepared for the Unhealthy aspect of this place. Nothing is good for you, but it tastes so yummy. Great to share with people.

If you want wonderful, fantastic, stick-to-your-ribs, fatty food, then you have come to the right place! Fatty's is one of my favorite places to go and splurge on way un-healthy food. a) you get A LOT of food b) sandwiches are pretty big c) cajun-fried potato salad and cole slaw is to die for Also, they have daily drink speciais, and not just on beer. It always make my blood fizzle when my boyfriend can get a drink special for a beer and I cannot on the weekend cause I like Rum. For example, my Bacardi and Diets on a Saturday were $2.... yes $2. :) Great bar food, nice service, and great atmosphere.

...It's bar food. It's bar food...in Dekalb. It's actually not bad! I had a chicken sandwich called " The Heat" which consisted of wing sauce, bleu cheese dressing (in a separate container), and swizz cheese. I got their famous fried potato salad which was super good, but not good for your body! Sadly I don't have anything else to rave about this place. It is just your typical college town bar with checkerboard floors and paneled walls. The bathroom is decent and small, but it just wreaks of what you wouldn't want a public bathroom to smell like. They have decent pricing, and you surely will get full here.

If you are going to get bar food at NIU, you may as well go all out and just do it. GET THE POTATO SALAD! Don't expect it to be your backyard bbq type salad with reg mayo either- its Cajun therefore its special! I am positive it's probably the most unhealthy potato salad you will encounter but just give it a try, live a life!!.. or err as a disclaimer- you may actually shorten it a little there after. I usually have it with the turkey wendell sandwich, my personal fav. But seriously, give it a try and you will not be disappointed. Words my friends and I live by, Go big or go home!!

best food in college town! anytime i am indecisive on where to eat, fattys is always an option. anyone can attempt to recreate their cajun potato salad, but nothing will compare to having the real thing on the side of a burger. you can probably never go wrong with any sandwich or burger, but my go to burger is the tex-mex. if you are there for just an appetizer, the italian nachos are so freakin good. i feel it is very overlooked, but no one will really know what theyre missing until they try it. although everything about the food is on point, this place NEVER fails to give horrible service (hence the 3 star rating). the girls may be super nice, but they would probably get better tips if they knew how to actually attend to their customers aka do their job. nevertheless, this place will definitely be missed once graduation passes, but will obviously be where i stop if a dekalb visit ever happens.

Across the windswept fields of corn arises towers in the mist...keep driving those are dorms. The journey is perilous (except if you live in DeKalb) but in the end, good knight, you shall be rewarded: With CAJUN POTATO SALAD!! Seriously folks this is made from the best stuff on Earth (way better than Snapple). This is a warm potato salad that is spicy from peppers and a Cajun sauce. I start with a pound for an appetizer and then get them as the side with my sandwich/burger. You can't get enough. The sandwich's are huge, "overstuffed" as it were. They are a Cubs bar (-1) but the Cajun Potato Salad (+2) will tempt even the most die hard Sox supporter. Plus the took away the "Hammy Sosa" and replaced it with the steroid-free "Da Coach" I'm talkin' sandwiches now, so keep up. They are great bar in a fun (occasionally) college town. I rarely make it back to NIU but whenever I'm within 20 miles, I make sure to stop at Fatty's!

I came here for lunch with a large group of people after a long, partially unmemorable, night out. We were placed in the back, which was accommodating. Nice and dark. Helped with the headache. I was STARVING. I already knew what I wanted to order two days prior to being in DeKalb - the chicken strips. I ordered them breaded with a honey garlic dipping sauce, a side of their Cajun potato salad and cole slaw. About 10-15 minutes later, our food was out. I thought I was hungry, but I hardly put a dent in my food. Not because it didn't taste good, but because their portions are HUGE. I had more than enough leftovers to last me for the rest of the week. (I did, however, eat most of the Cajun potato salad. I can't get enough of it!) All of this for around $9! Definitely coming back here the next time I'm in DeKalb. It's a good place to go for good bar food and it's easy on the wallet, especially if you spent most of your money on drinks the night before.

Great food - I've had lunch there a few times and really enjoyed it. Try the friend pickles! They have a nice outdoor seating area, too. I only give it an A-OK because I went there for drinks on a Friday night and was disappointed by how empty it was. Kind of boring.

The potato salad is the most interesting and one of the best tasting I have ever had... Burger was phenomenal, was able to try the steak and ribs which were amazing... Fatty's, what else can I say except you are one of the only reasons I come back to visit NIU after graduating three years ago. I was sitting around on Sunday and decided I NEEDED the cajan patato salad from fatty's, so we got in the car and came for a visit. The restaurant was not crowded so we just found a table and waited for our waitress to bring our menus and order drinks. Our waitress came right away and got our order, which was nice. I ordered the grilled chicken with buffalo sauce on the side and cajan patato sald(of course). when my food came out it was wrong...bummer...it was grilled chicken with BBQ sauce ON it. when I brought this to my waitresses attention, very nicely, she said she was sorry and took it back.....o but her being nice did not last....she brought the SAME sandwich back out and told me I was wrong that it was the buffalo sauce on the sandwich...excuse me....I'm pretty sure I knkow the difference. When she STILL did not believe me she brought out a little dish of both to let me see that they were right.....WOW!!! We will just say that I won and got a new plate with the right sauce!! The food is amazing and I will continue to visit Fatty's for thier amazing cajan patato salad and buffalo chicken....but maybe the waitresses shouldnt be arguing with the customers!!! She is the reason I am giving 3 stars instead of 5!!

My favorite bar food in Dekalb. Try the cajun potato salad, it's amazing. Though I'm not in Dekalb as often as I used to be in the Mid 2000's, I still dream of that potato salad every once in a while. I think the idea of a perfect weekend would be driving up to Dekalb, going to Fattys, riding the Old Man Can rail (I believe it is 6 or 8 beers) and having a Wayne Pretzky sandwich with the cajun potato salad, and passing out in the hotel next door. Simply fabulous.

The Food at Fatty's is amazing however the service is eh. They have so many great food items but the service is my one draw back. Even if you order take out , the service is still iffy. Once I had ordered take out, arrived around on time, but still waited 10 minutes to get my food! Five minutes waiting and trying to get someone to help me and five minutes for someone to look for my food! And there were waitresses standing around doing absolutely nothing! What the heck! Anyway, I love the food but the service lowers this rating!

This is a great, college town type of place. The food may not be healthy for you, but it tastes good, is plentiful, and is priced well. They have daily drink specials, the servers are always on top of the situationn, and there are plenty of TVs to see the "game of the day."

This place has absolutely phenomenal bar food! Definitely five steps above other bars. Their soft pretzel nuggets as an appetizer, their cajun potato salad, the Wayne Pretzkey- grilled chicken sandwich with cheese and bacon on a big soft pretzel- absolutely amazing! This place makes me drool just thinking about their food. You will be missing out if you do not try this place at least once!

[Dialogue from an actual conversation between the waitress, my sister, and I] HB: What beers do you have on tap? Waitress: Um... everything. What do you want? HB: Do you have Sam Adams? Waitress: No. Sister: Do you have Newcastle bottles? Waitress: Yes. HB: Do you have Sam Adams bottles? Waitress: Yes. I'll be right back. [...Time passes, during which I go look at the taps at the bar...] Waitress (empty-handed): We only have Newcastle on tap. Sister: OK, I'll take that. HB: Actually, you also have Sam Adams on tap, so can I have that? Perhaps it just wasn't her day, but service was very slow throughout our time at Fatty's. Beers came slowly and then the food came out at no greater speed. We started with the spinach-artichoke dip. It may be a touch unfair as the B. sisters are spinach-artichoke connoisseurs, but this was... just OK. The main thing it had going for it was that it was very large and could have served more than two people. I went with the chicken fingers, and when they arrived I wished I'd ordered them non-breaded. I did like that I could get baked beans as a side, though. My sister had the Reuben and said it was very good. She's on a Reuben kick lately (whereas I've never even had one) so we'll have to take her word on this one.

Went here the other night for my sisters birthday. 2 days later all 5 people in our party had food poisoning. We're not sure if it was from the home plate appetizer, the dip from the pretzel bites or the coleslaw but it was no fun for any of us. Will not be eating here ever again.

A great bar for fun and great place to eat. Its a pretty nice bar for after hours partying and also a great one to hang out at and watch sports. The food is also great, and the fried potato salad is amazing. I usually get some form of sandwich, and the pretzel buns they offer are yummy.

I do not drink, this is a sports bar, I go for the food. It is unhealthy and fits into the the sandwich/american genre but with a little flare. Chicken and burgers cooked to order and served in a variety of ways. Also do their own hot wings and sauces (have not tried). All their sides are delicious and portions are huge (baked beans, potato salad, real fries). Sandwich meals run about 7-8 bucks. If you go here early Sunday there will be a brunch crowd, including families and other non alcoholics. Delicioso, especially compared to other DeKalb food.

My husband and I have tried a lot of different menu items and we've never been let down! We always take people here when they come to visit us. Service is almost always awesome as well, usually have some decent drink specials too!
My husband raved about the Cajun Potato Salad. Drove me crazy for a month going on and on about how incredible it was. Finally, he took me all the way out to Dekalb (40 minute drive). I ordered the Cajun Potato Salad with my wrap - the Jerry Morales. My husband got a burger and the same side dish. Cajun Potato Salad: Awesome. Sad Story: I was sick before we made it home. Food poisoning. It was the wrap for sure, as the potato salad didn't make my husband sick. Aside from the horrible food poisoning, the serivce was pretty bad. I get that it's a college bar but I have no idea when that excuse made it OK for college students to suck at thier jobs. Advice: Avoid anything that hasn't been cooked/fried/grilled. If the really bad waitstaff is any indication of the kitchen, there's no question why I was in hell for two days. I do not know what ingredient was poorly handled, but I certainly don't reccomend giving it a try - at the very least, avoid the Jerry Morales.

I can't believe I'm doing one of these. Next time I'll find a way to make it rhyme...or something. F-un as hell, if you can get in. Especially around game days this place is PACKED to the point where there MUST be some kind of safety hazard or something, because you can't even hardly get in the door to check it out. A-nd they have bar food (pretty good). Why stumble around looking for Taco Bell when you can complete your experience inside? T-otally a college bar. Travel out if you're passing through town and want to go someplace chill. T-tremendously hard to find parking in the lot!!! But if you're even trying to find parking and avoid a tow from the apartments nearby you might want to err try to sneak your car here. Y-es. The prices are reasonable. S-adly a sports bar. Not exactly what I would have wanted to stop by into during my stay, but that's NIU for you.

Not my thing. It's a decent bar with a bad restaurant built into it. Extremely greasy, pretty generic bar foods. Lots of deep-fried stuff, heavy sandwiches. Have had a few different sandwiches, a reuben that was not particularly flavorful, and The Bavarian (the vegetarian sandwich for when they run out of Gardenburger patties). Slow service, waitstaff hasn't in my experience been exceptionally attentive. All around just not doing it for me. It's not a bad bar, and definitely a hang-out kind of place. The restaurant feels like an afterthought that continues to hang on. Maybe an okay place for gathering for drinks, not a good choice for eating as the primary activity.

Fatty's simply has the best bar food in Dekalb County hands down. I should probably just end my review here because it's just as simple as that. However, I will leave you with one piece of local lore. Allegedly when Larry the Cable Guy played a show here, he ate at Fatty's and loved there potato salad so much that he ordered 5 pounds, to go. Fatty's potato salad is unique. They fry their potatoes and then blend them in with the mayo and other ingredients. I wasn't so sure about it when I saw it delivered to my table, but after trying a bite I now crave them all the time. A great restaurant by day, and a crowded college bar by night. No matter who you are, there is a reason to go.

Love this bar, especially when school is out. Good selection of beer and their "bar food" is top notch. Fatty's has a nice patio with a bar and they show all the Hawk games, you can even win tickets on Wednesday games.

I AM IN LOVE THEIR CAJUN POTATO SALAD! Tthis is probably one of my favorite bar food places in Dekalb.

I get to DeKalb a couple times a year for meetings at NIU. This is one of my groups "must eat" places. Think sports bar in a college town. Food is very good, just not good for you. Pretzel bites are a great starter and then my favorite is the Hammy Sosa. The local favorite is the potato salad, but since I'm not a big fan I haven't tried it, but several people got some to go so it must be good. Great place to relax and watch some sports.

Here is a good picture for you. A juicy piece of chicken, melted swiss on top, placed on a toasted jalapeño bagel, served with a side of their famous warm Cajun potato salad, add in a side dish of home made kettle potato chips, washing it down with a cold beer while you watch your favorite game on the big screen. I usually watch what I eat. So when I splurge, I want it to be GOOD and worth those extra calories. Fatty's is perfect for that. The service is a little inconsistent. The food is great. They have an outdoor patio with televisions. However, when the sun is bright, you can not see anything on the screen. If you go to watch the Cubs or Sox game, sit inside unless you only want to hear the game.

The name don't lie. Anything you order from this place is guaranteed to bring you closer to a heart attack, one bite at a time. That said, they're pretty delectable bites. This is stick-to-your-ribs, beer-battered, excessively meaty food that will put a smile on your face. When I was there most recently I noticed a "healthy options" section to the menu. So, you know, there are healthier options. But let's be honest, you don't come to Fatty's to order a veggie burger (nothing against the veggie burger, mind you, but this is not that type of place). Fatty's has a great atmosphere, and I've passed many fun nights here with friends, running up a tab, ordering endless appetizers, and generally having a good time. As many of my friends are smokers, they appreciate the beer garden out back (with a sheltered deck protecting them from rain and snow), which also offers bag toss in the back. The wait staff is always friendly (if occasionally a bit clueless), and usually convince me to get whatever mixed drink is on special. I typically order one of their burgers, and then a half order of fries, and a half order of potato salad. Their Cajun potato salad is a particular must-have :)

the atmosphere is great but the food could use less grease lol. I got the fried pickles and had to return them because they were sitting in grease and were soggy. If youre the type of person who loves a greasy burger and fries and a pint to wash it down then this is the place for you.

I love everything about Fatty's!!!! They have a nice beer garden with bags you can play and the indoor has a nice big tv to watch sports games on. The spicy chicken sandwhich (I can't remember the name) is the best!!!!! I crave it at least weekly. Although the Cajun potato salad that you will hear alot of Fellow huskies rave about is not that great in my opinion. Service has always been fast even when the place is packed.

This was my first dinner with my roommates and I have to say it was pretty nice. Not the greatest, but still really good. We sat out back because walking inside was impossible! I got a BBQ chicken wrap that I loved...but my stomach hurt a little bit afterward. Playing BAGS was awesome! I love that they have that as after eating entertainment. The sides are really good, and the drinks are pretty well made. I have to say that the wait-staff is phenomenal!!! Shout out to Anna! We were in like...1st grade together! But the rest of Fatty's rocks too! YAY!

This place is all about when you go. Week Nights and Days: Awesome - not too crowded, food comes out pretty quick, etc. Everyone here has said it already but the absolutely best food they have is the Cajun Potato Salad. To give you an idea of this, imagine your favorite home fries smothered in a cayenne-spiced thick ranch with cuts of bacon. Luckily, I think there's a cardiac center nearby. Weekend Nights: If you can find parking, you'll pay a cover. That's right - a cover in DeKalb. I don't think so, buddy.
My fiance and I have been here twice in the past 2 weeks! Once just for lunch and once we met a wedding vendor here. The food is delish -- try the fried potato salad! It's a bit spicy for my taste but I can't resist a few bites. Beer is cold. Service could be a little quicker :o) The outdoor patio is fun in the summer! Parking stinks, arrive early!

I'll always love Fatty's. Graduated from NIU in '07 and can say that many nights were spent here. Get's a little full of people on the weekends. The food is good, but be ready to bring a defibrillator. They don't call the place Fatty's for nothing. The fired potato salad is the best. If you're looking to just get food, go during the week, for lunch or dinner. If you're looking for a party, weekend nights are good, but only if you don't mind getting bumped into. Also, make sure to not park in the restaurant parking lot next door, you'll get towed.

they have the best Cajun fried potato salad ever! great food and atmosphere to watch sporting events at.

Food is great for a bar...probably the best I've had. The service leaves a little to be desired, and the food usually takes a while to get to the table any time of day. However, I keep going back, so the food must be worth it.

Par for the course college bar. They only had one dart board, so that was a bit of a bummer. Good times, cheap liquor...I can't remember much else from back in my college days. I prefer Starbusters though.

Fatty's is the place to get REALLY great bar food! The prices for their drinks are pretty reasonable, but we definitely usually go there eat. One of my favorite things to get there is the Lil Guy. It's a burger on an onion roll, with a special cajun like sauce, ooey gooey cheese, and grilled onions. It's like heaven in your mouth. On the sides, I usually opt for the baked beans (also very delicious, and great to dip your fries in) and half potato salad and fries. Fatty's potato salad isn't your ordinary grandma's homemade potato salad. For one thing, it's warm...and I think it's fried. Anyways the potato chunks are slightly crunchy, and it's in a slightly spicy, creamy, maybe bbq dressing. It's pretty undescribable, you just gotta try it! For an appetizer, I suggest the spinach and artichoke dip. It will be the BEST spin/art dip EVER! It's soooo cheesy, and you can have it will garlic bread triangles that have REAL garlic rubbed on it. SO SO YUMMY...just GO THERE!

I frequented this joint during grad school, and they haven't changed a thing! I am a creature of habit so I ordered the Fatty Melt i.e. Patty melt... Meat was cooked perfectly and smothered in grilled onions and served on perfectly crunchy rye bread. It was served with a side of slaw which is creamy and sweet. It also came with a choice of potato and I chose the house made chips and had to get the jalapeño ketchup! Ambiance is historical sports bar, food is above average, and college kids can't splurge so the prices are in line. Even if it weren't nostalgic this place would make the list...

The easiest five stars I could give a restaurant! Don't pass through DeKalb and skip this local favorite. Make sure to order a side of the famous potato salad...then take your pick from anything on the menu. It's all good! Other personal favorites: Da Coach, Wayne Pretsky, or the Durango Burger. This is a second home to most NIU Huskies - Enjoy!!

CAJUN POTATO SALAD. CAJUN POTATO SALAD. CAJUN POTATO SALAD. If you leave with one bit of advice from this review, it should be that you should get their famous potato salad. My friend who is an NIU alumni swears that he will take over an hour drive just to get it. If you're thinking of a white, creamy potato salad, erase that thought! This is something of its own kind. I've been to Fatty's solely to dine, so I can't comment on its night life. Each time, there has been excellent service. Their fried pickles are bomb too! Thinly sliced lengthwise. During this particular experience, I had their Italian beef, which was decent! My friend and I sat out in the patio, which was a pleasant change of scenery, but the bugs were such a nuisance. All up in your face, your drink, your food. I have a pretty big fear of bugs, so I'll be skipping the patio from now on.

Came here tonight and was highly disappointed with the service. We sat at a table for 15 min before anyone even came to greet us and bring menus. Instead they though it was more important to bus the table next to us and let us watch them. Finally placed our order, and an HOUR later the food arrives. What the heck! Good thing we weren't in a rush, just starving. Everything here takes forever and the waitress really wasn't all that friendly. I wish I could give more stars because of course the food is fantastic. As the others mention, the potato salad!! I ordered the turkey Wendell sandwich which was delicious, not just sliced deli turkey, but big slices of real turkey. Yum! Unfortunately I will not be back for a dine in. perhaps we will call ahead and get takeout if I'm craving the potato salad, but I'll probably skip this place altogether in the future.

Went on a college visit with my daughter and decided to eat a late lunch here as my bestie, who lives out that way, has always raved about Fatty's. We started out with the Pretzel Bites, which were quite good. My daughter ordered the Garden Burger with fries and cole slaw. She said it was really good. I ordered the chicken strips, cole slaw and potato salad. Oh my word. The potato salad was out of this world. I didn't finish it all and thought about it as I drove home from Dekalb, Then I thought about it sitting in the fridge all night long. As soon as I woke up the next morning, I ate it... for breakfast. Damn good. I hope my daughter commits to NIU because I will visit often and always stop at Fatty's for the potato salad.

Try the cajun fried potato salad. Best around.

The best potato salad. You have to get half and half which means half salad and half fries. The burgers are very well made. The beer is always cold and a large selection. Legs and eggs on home coming. They are remodeling the patio looks nice. All around a good spot to hang and eat and drink.

If you happen to find yourself in DeKalb and you're hankering for a burger, get your butt in here immediately. Fatty's is a typical college sports bar with tons of TVs, crappy drink specials (with a few craft beers thrown in now! yahoo!), beer garden, okay service, etc. but the food here is what sets it apart from all the surrounding options. First of all, the Cajun potato salad is one of the best things you will EVER put in your piehole. PERIOD. I would come just for that alone. The burgers here are really good too. They are big, fresh, cooked right (!), and have tons of delicious toppings. There's nothing super fancy or imaginative about the combinations, but it's a damn good burger nonetheless. And the portion size is a good 'ol American helping of too much stuff...even when you get the half and half (half potato salad and half fries) you still have a huge burger and coleslaw or beans to finish too. My kind of helping.

I'm not understanding the whole last call thing here. They call it and then ten minutes later the bar is closed and you need to chug your drink and leave. Totally unprofessional and mediocre service

I absolutely love Fatty's. The food is great, an endless amount of drink choices, and friendly service. It is family friendly during the day and party friendly at night. Great for hanging out with friends and/or watching the big game!

Greasy food and beer aren't my kind of indulgences, but I go here now and then because my boyfriend loves both. He loves the burger and how beers like Goose Island's Bourbon County are sometimes on tap. As for the kind of fare I enjoy, I'm happy that to say that Fatty's veggie burger is tasty! It seems made in-house, which is a nice alternative to a MorningStar patty. They even have juicy and huge grilled chicken strips that I've enjoyed when I was still a meat eater. It's a local favorite, which means the place can get packed when football or hockey games are on TV. On a regular weekend afternoon or weekday night, however, it's a reliable place to unwind with comfort food. One word of warning: don't bother ordering the sweet potato fries if you in fact want sweet potato fries. It's actually a portion of regular potato fries with a handful of sweet potato ones mixed in. When I mentioned this to a waitress, she said, "That's how we do it here." Then why bother even listing an item called "sweet potato fries" on the menu?!

Fun place for a college to 40's age range. Great bar food from salads, wraps or burgers and must have the potato salad!

I love Fatty's for their food and drinks. Their potato salad is delicious, but, unfortunately, it's too spicy for me (I definitely don't recommend it for those who can't handle spicy foods). The pretzel bites are a must-have appetizer, and I highly recommend the tangy mustard as the sauce. And the burgers are absolutely mouth-watering! I'm a bit of a purist with my burgers, but you can't go wrong with the way they make them. My mom took me there for my 21st birthday. The bar staff made some great drinks for everyone at the table (wonderful amaretto stone sours and vodka tonics that had a good amount of flavor and strength), and the waitress was very nice. We ended up playing trivia, and it's fun through and through. The only reason I give Fatty's a 4/5 is because the service is consistently a little slow. It doesn't matter if it's a slower day or packed, there's always some kind of wait that seems to be longer than expected.

Fatty's is the best bar on NIUs campus for several reasons. The place is pretty big, slightly awkward layout but it's part of the charm of the place. They usually have descent drink special and variety of beers. This place on a weekend night during the school year can get a bit crowded. While it's a little loud to average bar, it's somewhat low key if you consider it's a college bar. On occasions they have live music, which is hit or miss to me. They broadcast all of NIUs games and in general it's a good place to watch a game with plenty of nice tvs and good viewing area. The service here is usually good, every once in while when it's slammed it can be a bit slow but that's definitely understandable. Now the food: The potato salad here, it's fried and it's Cajun. This is simply the best potato salad ever and one of the best things you'll ever eat, seriously. Larry the Cable guy after a performance at the Convocation Center, took home something like 5 lbs of it. And by the looks of him, I'm sure he knows his food. The rest of the menu is above average to good. I usually get a burger then have them add some of that Cajun potato salad dressing to the burger to give it an extra kick of deliciousness. Fatty's is a DeKalb staple so it's a... must try.

Well well well. This is the only bar I have ever been to in Dekalb and I came her on my birthday in August. I had a total blast! The bartender was fun, the DJ was playing good music all night and there were a ton of people. I got pretty drunk, and thanks to the bus, got home safe and sound. Birthday success. Thank you Fatty's

We always look forward to drinks and dining at Fattys when we are in DeKalb and we've been coming here for three years now. They offer many unique craft beers and I usually ask to try a couple of different ones before ordering a cocktail or two. Today I asked to try two that I hadn't heard of when taking out a group of five young adults for lunch. Fattys policy now is to charge $2.00/taste because of past "student" abuse. Now I'm a 64 year old responsible father of two and wouldn't think of not ordering a drink or two after sampling some new types of beer. The manager would not budge from this policy in spite of my particular situation and commitment to paying for lunch for the party of five at the table. Word to the wise Fatty's . . . use a little discretion and common sense when attempting to enforce your drink policy. That's it for me and anybody I would have brought to your establishment, you lost a loyal customer.

I have a love-hate relationship with this place. Awesome food- here I order whatever is probably the worst things to put in my face. Ummm cajun and fried potato salad anyone?! Whhhatttt? But, unfortunately it's DeKalb- and college sports bars aren't really my thing. Not really at any fault of this well executed college sports bar, but the crowd and immature staff is really something not desirable to me these days.

First, let me start off by saying it's not the food that got 3 stars. Found this place by way of yelpers, who, once again, came through! My son's high school was competing in an event at NIU, and we didn't want stadium food. Popped into Fatty's and were not disappointed! You are instantly hit by a wall of awards, which is genius because your mouth is already salivating. Then you see all the NIU memorabilia, reminding you this is a college town. The menu is huge and we had a hard time deciding. I got the Wayne Pretzky, a grilled chicken sandwich with the cajun fried potato salad. Chicken cooked perfectly. Love the chargrilled flavor. Coleslaw great here as well. But the star was the potato salad. Heart attack on a plate. But in a good way. A little spicy, deep fried... Potatoes stay crisp even with the dressing on them. What left me with a bad taste in my mouth was the bathroom. It's only 6pm on a Saturday and it looked like a 3am bar in the city. Only 2 stalls (lord, imagine the lines?!), the sink is old school, forcing you to turn the knobs on/off, and an explosion of toilet paper EVERYWHERE. I had 2 flies on my seat that wouldn't leave my bottom alone. GROSS. Staff of Fatty's, make a cleaning schedule. No excuse. The bathrooms in Guatemala were better than that. The NIU game hadn't even started yet. I shudder to think of how it looked after.

My gf visits NIU once in a while and she would bring me back the Cajun fried potato salad. This is really good, but it is pretty greasy. If your arteries can handle it, definitely give it a try. It is loaded with flavor with just the right amount of spice. The last time she took it back, the potatoes were all nice and soft. This time some of the potatoes were a bit hard. Other than that, it is still good.

Sven R.
We had a party of 30 and we called ahead and they reserved a section for us for lunch. I had the Polish Reuben and it was fantastic. Prices were very reasonable too. For a campus bar it was clean and in good shape. I'll definitely eat there next time I'm in town.
(5)
Jesse P.
This is one of the few eateries in Dekalb that I would give 5 stars. Food is excellent, staff is friendly, place is comfortable and clean. Fatty's really makes NIU a part of their identity. They have jerseys on the wall from MVP Huskies and alumni that made it to the Pros. There is a real college vibe that stands out from other restaurants in the area.
(5)
Nick S.
I have been here over and over and over again. I read a past comment about food poisoning. I never got it. I am now a college head coach and coach USATF youth and whenever I pass Dekalb on the highway I always stop at Fatty's. Price is awesome and I love their food. A nice summer shandy is good in the beer garden. I wish a Fattys was open near the Chicago area. Also, I noticed some people complain about service and waiting. Yes...it can take a long time. But when it gets packed then it gets packed. These college aged waitresses are busting their butt off. If u can be patient, then u will love the food.
(5)
Julian R.
Their atmosphere is pretty laxed and I like that about Fatty's. When I have friends visit from out of town we tend to go there for their Cajun Potato salad, which is BOMB! I also recommend the burgers, they are pretty damn delicious! Take a seat, have a beer, and enjoy the grub!
(4)
Will P.
Went there today (St. Pat's Day) for lunch. Not crowded, no big party going on. Just wanted a Reuben sandwich and the house specialty fried potato salad. The "Reuben" we ordered turned out to be a turkey sandwich, slathered in Thousand Island, and topped with cole slaw. The potatoes in the salad were under-cooked and hard, and swimming in glop. We pointed this out to the waitress who promptly brought us a new order...of the same under-cooked mess. If you're an NIU student or a DeKalb resident who doesn't care that their food is inedible, then this place is for you. Otherwise, avoid it at all costs.
(1)
Kevin W.
Since this place is so close to NIU and where I live it's like how can you not stop in here? Drink specials are pretty decent and they always have events that involve drinking so that's a plus. My friends and I really enjoy the food from here, such as the pretzel bites, potato salad, and the burgers. Place gets packed on the weekends, so most of the time I sit at the bar, service is probably a little faster.
(4)
Dave Y.
Fatty's is one of those "must visit" places in Dekalb. Things like the Fat Guy and Morales ar burgers that can not be beat. I have to chime in on the Cajun potato salad. It can't be beat. Combine it with the Fat Guy burger and you're set. You can tell when you get your order that it is made fresh, unfortunately this is also why they got 4 stars. The service does tend to be slow. While the staff is very friendly, they get overwhelmed easy as this is a very popular and busy place. Possibly of they came by table a little more, this could be 5 star. This is in it;s 3rd location (at least) however looks like it will be a this one for quite a while. Expect noise during games since having a resturaunt with a sports bar theme near NIU makes for very excitable patrons.

Fatty's was solid. Those were my exact thoughts upon leaving Fatty's. I also felt like I just ate a bowling bowl but I believe that's why it's called Fatty's. I was recommended this joint by a friend and it didn't disappoint. Don't come here if your on a diet or are trying to watch your figure. I'm sure they accommodate to all shapes, sizes, and diets, as their menu had a large section. I didn't care to review their "healthy" choices though as I was on a mission to try the Fatty Burger. Boy am I glad I went the Fatty Burger. It was glorious. Sloppy deliciousness on a bun. So, so good. I got a side of the potato salad and it was very unique, in a good way. I ordered the Buffalo Fries as a starter and it was just unnecessary. Not because it was bad, it was actually very good, but because the Fatty Burger and Potato Salad are enough for one human being. I split the Buffalo Fries with a friend and it was just overkill, unfortunately, I realized that after completion of my Fatty Burger. Fatty's will leaving you feeling full in every sense of the word. It was a nice experience though and I would definitely go back. I can't imagine the feels if I was drunk, the gooey goodness. Either way, a must visit for anyone passing through Dekalb.

(4)Sticke R.
Fun environment and potato salad is the best anywhere!!
(5)Kyle U.
(4)Sara L.
(3)Jamie L.
Muskie burger was good.. But they didn't have nothing in bathroom to dry ur hands.. And it was kinda expensive $13+ for a burger fries and a diet coke to go..
(4)John K.
Great place for Pub grub in the Dirty De. They're ready for sum footbawl!!!
(4)Ray S.
(4)Michelle B.
Went back to NIU last weekend just for Fatty's potato salad and it was just as good as I remembered from 2007. They also have a huge beer and ale menu.
(5)Elizabeth R.
(3)Karen C.

(3)Jordan C.

Some really good food. Football game days are a pain in the ass, arrive early to get a spot if you want to sit and catch a game. Great beer selection. A fun bar overall!!

(2)Michael R.
(3)Erik B.
(4)Chris T.
(1)Nick S.
This place is awesome!! Good Food Good Beer Good Atmosphere!! Great place to watch a game!!
(5)Liz B.
(3)Danny B.

(4)Sara B.
Great place for a party in the back room. Always has pool tables and darts open and avaliable. Outside seating The food is amazing, but be prepared for the Unhealthy aspect of this place. Nothing is good for you, but it tastes so yummy. Great to share with people.
(5)Donna R.
(5)Megan O.
...It's bar food.
(3)Anita M.
(4)Jeffrey R.
best food in college town! anytime i am indecisive on where to eat, fattys is always an option. anyone can attempt to recreate their cajun potato salad, but nothing will compare to having the real thing on the side of a burger. you can probably never go wrong with any sandwich or burger, but my go to burger is the tex-mex. if you are there for just an appetizer, the italian nachos are so freakin good. i feel it is very overlooked, but no one will really know what theyre missing until they try it. although everything about the food is on point, this place NEVER fails to give horrible service (hence the 3 star rating). the girls may be super nice, but they would probably get better tips if they knew how to actually attend to their customers aka do their job. nevertheless, this place will definitely be missed once graduation passes, but will obviously be where i stop if a dekalb visit ever happens.

(4)Nikki R.
Great food - I've had lunch there a few times and really enjoyed it. Try the friend pickles! They have a nice outdoor seating area, too. I only give it an A-OK because I went there for drinks on a Friday night and was disappointed by how empty it was. Kind of boring.
(3)scott b.
The potato salad is the most interesting and one of the best tasting I have ever had... Burger was phenomenal, was able to try the steak and ribs which were amazing... I would seriously say this is one of the best bar and Grill places I have been to... got advice to come here from a local, best decision Ive made staying here!
(5)Denise J.
(3)Kristen A.

Made my gut hurt.
(2)Lydia Z.
(3)Travis W.
This is a great, college town type of place. The food may not be healthy for you, but it tastes good, is plentiful, and is priced well. They have daily drink specials, the servers are always on top of the situationn, and there are plenty of TVs to see the "game of the day."
(4)Pat E.
Decent bar food. Really unhealthy though, waitresses are hot!
(3)Melissa V.

(2)Mike P.
Fat Boy, Cajun Potato Salad and a Manwieser. 'Nuff said.
(5)Tori T.
Went here the other night for my sisters birthday. 2 days later all 5 people in our party had food poisoning. We're not sure if it was from the home plate appetizer, the dip from the pretzel bites or the coleslaw but it was no fun for any of us. Will not be eating here ever again.
(1)Michael G.
A great bar for fun and great place to eat. Its a pretty nice bar for after hours partying and also a great one to hang out at and watch sports. The food is also great, and the fried potato salad is amazing. I usually get some form of sandwich, and the pretzel buns they offer are yummy.
(4)Joey F.
(3)Christina K.
My husband and I have tried a lot of different menu items and we've never been let down! We always take people here when they come to visit us. Service is almost always awesome as well, usually have some decent drink specials too!
(5)Scott K.
Fatty's may not be Nat's on Maple but it does not promote it self to be a restaurant it is a pub and grill and as far as the grill side of it I am a fan. I have had the Bayou Burger and Fatty Melt, but my favorite is the Ribs and Whisky Grille Steak Combo. It is tasty and filling. I love the homemade chips but quite often substitute them for the baked beans for healthier eating, YEAH I know head shaker since Fatty's and Health is an oxymoron but when you're a lover of unhealthy food and hate veggies you squeeze in those healthier options when you can. The bottom line on this entrée though is GOOD. The burgers I have had are above average for bar burgers and I've eaten many a bar burgers at many a different bars over the years. If my taste buds are thinking burger Fatty's definitely comes to mind as an option On my really healthy days, I have had the grilled chicken tenders. This is my wife's favorite dish at Fatty's (she eats much healthier then I do) and I personally find them must more enjoyable in taste and portion then the buffalo place. As for service, again, it is not Nat's, it is a pub and I expect the service to be less then ideal. After all the staff of mostly girls are college age and I'd expect them to give more attention to the young athletic type guy then the beyond middle age overstuffed bear guy, who definitely should be eating Sweet Tomato type cuisine and not Fatty's type cuisine. On a more sincere note I've always been please with the service at Fatty's dining in and carry-out The atmosphere is it is a pub, but there is no loud music playing, smokers are outside these days and they have numerous TV's. Though there mostly sports shows and I like news that's what I'd expect in a sports bar if I want news I can go find a news bar. The Bottom Bear Belly on Fatty's is if you are looking for GOOD bar food type cuisine and can handle a wait-staff spending a few extra seconds talking to someone about something more interesting then your order go and enjoy Fatty's Pub and Grill
(4)Nicole R.
(1)Margaret M.
I've never eaten anything there that I haven't liked. I LOVE the Italian nachos and tex mex burger. Even their pulled pork is delicious. Great drink specials pretty much everyday of the week. Definitely a Dekalb staple. You must try if you haven't!
(5)Jen M.
The service kinda sucks, but hey, it's a college bar/restaurant. The food is delicious, but definitely greasy and fatty. Ha.
(4)Chris W.
(3)Josh H.
(2)Derek G.
(4)Randi A.
Love this bar, especially when school is out. Good selection of beer and their "bar food" is top notch. Fatty's has a nice patio with a bar and they show all the Hawk games, you can even win tickets on Wednesday games.
(4)Monique C.
I AM IN LOVE THEIR CAJUN POTATO SALAD! Tthis is probably one of my favorite bar food places in Dekalb.
(4)Scott R.
(4)Chad G.
(4)Laura B.
(4)Julie N.
the atmosphere is great but the food could use less grease lol. I got the fried pickles and had to return them because they were sitting in grease and were soggy. If youre the type of person who loves a greasy burger and fries and a pint to wash it down then this is the place for you.
(3)Marie L.
(5)Jessica T.

I ate here with my sister and a friend last week. It was a Wednesday night and there were about 6 tables in the entire place. It took 25 minutes to get our appetizer of potato skins. Our server did not check back with us until she delivered our dinners 20 minutes later and then not again until my sister flagged her down. She forgot to bring out the dressing for my friends entrée. We also had to waive her down for the bill. None of this would have been surprising it they were busy, but our server was busy spending most of her night talking to her co-workers at the waitress station.

I have a pretty big fear of bugs, so I'll be skipping the patio from now on.

this is one of my favorite places to eat in dekalb. every time I've been here the food and service has been great. I also enjoy their outside patio for drinking.

(5)Geoff N.
Try the cajun fried potato salad. Best around.
(5)Jordan R.

(4)Danielle T.
I'm not understanding the whole last call thing here. They call it and then ten minutes later the bar is closed and you need to chug your drink and leave. Totally unprofessional and mediocre service
(1)Jackie D.
I absolutely love Fatty's. The food is great, an endless amount of drink choices, and friendly service. It is family friendly during the day and party friendly at night. Great for hanging out with friends and/or watching the big game!
(4)Kat D.

(4)Suzie G.

Great Food, Great People, Awsome Staff, Great Times! Highly reccomend!
(5)Trevor L.
Reuben was slightly dry with little Reuben sauce, Cole slaw was ok. Beer selection not bad, didn't see the wine list.

Fun little place, and I can see why Yelpers love it. All I can say is the Fried Potatoe Salad is a MUST try!!! Fun sports bar atmosphere. Waitress was very friendly and helpful since I was a first timer.

Cajun Fried potato salad is the legend. Rest is ok.

(3)Danny M.
(3)Sven R.
We had a party of 30 and we called ahead and they reserved a section for us for lunch. I had the Polish Reuben and it was fantastic. Prices were very reasonable too. For a campus bar it was clean and in good shape. I'll definitely eat there next time I'm in town.
(5)Jesse P.
(5)Nick S.
(5)Julian R.
(4)Will P.
(1)Kevin W.
(4)Dave Y.
(4)Marcus G.
