Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

The food is fairly priced and very good. You may want to make sure they give you enough white rice - we always seemed to get jipped.

I have been meaning to write this review for awhile now because I go in to uncle maos quite regularly. Their food is really good, unlike a lot of Chinese restaurants around the darien area. The people who work there are genuinely nice and friendly. I am never disappointd in the food they serve, its soooooooo good! So glad I can come here and get some REAL Chinese food. I recommend this place to everyone!

At first glance, the restaurant doesn't look like much--it's in strip mall. Then you try the food and you're blown away!. I love Chinese food but it seems like a lot of Chinese restaurants soak their food in grease and oil. Everything from the egg rolls to the main dishes are NOT dripping in grease. The egg rolls are crispy and the filling is delicious. I had the Szechuan Beef for lunch. It had just the right amount of heat to it and the veggies still had a nice crunch. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. But if you want a beer or cocktail, you're out of luck--no alcohol. The only beverages on the menu are water and ice tea. I'm okay with that though because the prices were very reasonable. The service was great--the food came out within a couple minutes of ordering. Some Chinese restaurants try to do too many different kinds of Asian cuisine and often fall short. Uncle Mao's does Chinese and only Chinese and what's more they do it well.

Uncle Maos cooks Chinese like your Uncle Mao might if you had a middle aged Chinese uncle. A typical Chinese fast food eatery with a decent number of seating. The fried rice I had had little of the beef that I had ordered and expected from other places and this was a major disappointment and main reason for the low rating. There are many other small Chinese kitchens that wouldn't skip the meat offering with the fried rice. I wouldn't go to tis place again even if I was in the area all of the time.

Usually when it comes to reviews about food places. There is a lot to say. Whether it's good or bad, there is at least a discussion to be had. Uncle Mao's (how awesome a name is that by the way) is boring. The food is exactly how you would imagine American Chinese Fast Food to taste. I wonder if the Chairman was really related to the proprietors of this establish. I've stopped twice during two separate visits to the area (experiments at the APS) because I knew it would be a quick bite to eat and would be food in my stomach. The menu is as expansive as any Chinese menu...I've always wondered how the cooks remember what goes into every different dish, or if they just note what's in the name of the dish and then throw in whatever else they have handy. Snow Peas...Sure Onions...Why Not Mushrooms...What the Hell. Both times I thought we showed up close to the rush, either lunch or dinner, and we were the only people to sit down inside and eat. So if you're looking for a quiet place to read a book while you sip on the Hot and Sour Soup..look no further. The steamed dumplings are huge, and if you plan on eating a whole order yourself as an appetizer, don't even think about getting an entree. No way you make it through both. While I've had better Chinese Take-Out, if you're looking for quick and easy, especially if you're at ANL, Uncle Mao's is the place to go. Try the Peking Chow Mein or Mongolian Chicken.

The lunch special is unbeatable. Honestly the BEST egg rolls you will ever have in your life. If you're going in for the lunch special, you will NOT be disappointed. Do not listen to the other reviews. Service could be better but the food is spot on

The menu is rich but the food is only ok. The staff is friendly and prices are reasonable. There is plenty of parking space.

I had low expectations for this place, and was disappointed. For was not very exciting. More tolerable than I expected. Prices were OK for the area. Service was kinda of strange. The cashier who greeted me and gave me a menu was real sweet and nice. The server I got was pretty curt and aloof. And that was before she screwed up my order. It was like good cop/bad cop or something. Anyway, I think there are plenty of other places I can try around here without having to go back.

WOW was I wrong about this place!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT COME HERE THEY ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO RUDE!!! The old lady behind the counter was sooooooooooooooooooooooo rude to me!!!!!!! I hope they go out of business!!! I had ordered food to go during my lunch hour. I come in and she is talking to someone who appeared to be just a friend as they were not picking up food and she totally ignored me for 10 minutes!!! Then when I got up there to pay, I asked if I could add a soda she acted all mad that I would change my order. ****Then when I got the bill and it was overcharged by 3 dollars-I tried to explain this to her and I know she understood me but refused to fix it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I needed to get back to work so I just paid it and then when I got my food there was no fork-I asked for one she she just ignored me!!!! I asked three more times and everyone in the restaurant could see me asking and her ignoring me and then she turned around and said " NO! You talked to much already!" I could not believe what I was hearing! She then left the room! I had to walk into the kitchen and get some young guy to get me a fork-I explained to him what happened and he tried to say she must not have understood me......OH YES SHE DID!........she then walked back and flat out told her she was rude and it was NOT acceptable to treat me this way and that I worked for the company next door that made up %80 of her business and I was going to tell EVERYONE what she did!! The her face drooped!!! haha.....she begged to give me a refund and I said I didnt want her money!!! Oh and to make matters worse the food was actually nasty that time......AND....I worked with one of her Friends who came up to me and gave me three dollars back because her Friend realized she did overcharge me and she had wrung up the wrong order when I came it! DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUISNESS!!!

This is an ok place! What they really need is someone who u can understand & understands u!! You need an English speaking person!!! The food is ok & when they make a mistake there not good at saying Sorry or they'll credit you!! They need to change a lot of things in that place!! I don't go there hardly anymore!!! When it's cold outside they tend to lower there heat & you freeze inside so we end up leaving our coats on! How uncomfortable is that!!! I don't think they really know the world of business!! Wake up people!!!!

More of a convenience than anything else, I mean I live literally within walking distance from this place and its the first place in my two transplanted years where I can find chinese food that I can actually afford and tastes great. Has a great price and quick delivery! The people are friendly who work there you can tell its very family oriented. They have seating and a clean atmosphere in comparison to some city "carry-out" chinese places where you can't even stand to THINK of them serving food to animals yet alone people (i.e., See-Thru Kitchen)

Great pick up - dine in is o.k., hit or miss with servers! Food is fine, would recommend you give it a try!
