Diabetics at TGI Friday

If you're a diabetic, then you must be extra careful while dining at TGI Friday. Try the salad menu at TGI Friday to keep your sugar and sodium intake in check. Soups are great to keep you full and satisfied without munching on the unhealthy greased meat-based dishes on TGI Friday menu.

Foods to Avoid at TGI Friday for Diabetics:

Sugar and sodium intake are crucial if you have diabetes. While the salads are the best option for you at TGI Friday, it is recommended to avoid the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad containing over 1000 calories and 1,650mg sodium. Also, skip Warm Pretzels with Craft Beer-Cheese dipping sauce as it contains more than 3000mg sodium. It is wise to skip the dessert for diabetics, especially the Brownie Obsession topped with Vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and pecans.

Everyone pretty much knows about TGI Fridays. But here are some recommendations anyway (in case you feel masochistic someday and stop by). I did the 3 for $12.99 and I have to be honest - that's a pretty good deal. (A) Pot Stickers. Really good. It was steamed well and tasted great. (B) Fridays Shrimp. This is by far the WORST shrimp I've ever eaten in my life. You couldn't taste the shrimp at all, just the fried casing. With every crunch I could feel the oil oozing down the back of my throat. Nasty! (C). Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie or something like it. Was pretty good. 3 stars. Overall, you're better off eating somewhere else. But if you have to go here, proceed with caution.

Sad to say b/c TGI Fridays at other locations are ok, but our bartender, Caitlyn was miserable. She came to check in on us maybe once every 30 min and we would have spent a lot more money had she come by more. The bartender who had just gotten cut checked on us more than ours. The only saving grace this place had last night was that Jeff, yet another bartender who was very nice. He took care of us, was personable and could hold a conversation. The manager was nice and had no excuses for our bartender's behavior and lack of customer service... Would I go back? Only on Monday or Tuesday when Jeff is working.

Went here with my girlfriend recently and were absolutely disgusted with the service. We ordered our food and the waiter did not write it down and proceeded to get everything wrong. When we asked him for refills on our drinks, he continuously walked by the table without acknowledging us. He was quite bad, so we went to speak with the manager after dinner. The manager listened to our gripes and apologized up and down. He recorded our complaints in his log, but did not give us our money back for the dinner. Additionally, he promised to inform the general manager about our issues and give us a call back in the next 2 days. We never received a call. It was extremely irritating. The food, as most know, is average. Based on that, service is quite important. We will never return to this restaurant again after this experience.

Service was slow and food was OK. (I wouldn't have picked TGI Friday's, but c'est la vie)

I am perfectly fine with chain restaurants, because for the most part, they are consistent and reliable. In an instance when I don't want to put any effort into choosing a meal, TGI Friday's is a pretty safe bet. Since the Bolingbrook location closed, this is now the nearest location to me. If you didn't already know, I love their baked French onion soup. Every meal begins with their Ahi tuna crisps, and the aforementioned soup. I usually stick with burgers here, my favorite being the New York Stacked Burger. (Cheddar, Assiago, two beef patties, bacon, and thousand island dressing.) I've tried their sandwiches, but without rave reviews. The Ruben was passable, but the French Dip was an abomination, with tough beef and inedibly salty ajus. For desert, the vanilla bean cheesecake is my favorite. Service here is always top notch, which besides the soup, is always a reason to return!

I've been to this location several times in the past few years with friends and food and service has been decent. Unlike the other reviews, I haven't had any incidence bad enough that drilled its image into my dining experience. But I also didn't have any a-ha moments either. But my last experience there was a tad different though. I was with a group of 5 and I always love it when a place has no problem splitting a check, which was the case here. The appetizers were decent and their $16.99 combo menu (appetizer, entre, desert) is a good bargain with decent size dishes. The most impressive part of that night (and maybe they are trying to turn that around now with these reviews) is that my hostess took my order wrong. I had order the $10 Hibachi Chicken but they gave me the $12 Hibachi Steak on skewers instead. Being that I was so hungry and enthralled by the dish's aroma, I forgot all about my order and ate up. By the time I realized it, it was too late and I figure I will just let the hostess know for the sake of and not about refunds. Then near the end of our dinner, an elder man walked by and asked us how we are-- I think he was the manager. Then without me having to say anything he figured out that my order was switched. In the end, they compliment my meal and it was something I would have paid for because it was an upgrade. I would have gladly pay the $3 difference but having the service made up to me really put the place in a much better light. So even though I've been here many tines before, I finally have something worthwhile to write about. :). Sorry TGIF for taking so long to get this review up! 4 stars for service, 3.5 stars for quality of food. Too bad there are no halfsies on Yelp.

I enjoy coming here with my kids. The staff is friendly and attentive! I recommend anything off of the Jack Daniels menu but my favorite is the steak!

Really not happy with this location. Went to pick up an order and was told to go to the bar to pick up. No problem there but as I stood at the bar for nearly 10 minutes, the "bartender" stood there looking at me like I was unwelcome. Finally I flagged her down to ask if I could get my food and her response was "we don't handle that at the bar, you need to find the busser". I have no idea who the busser is and nor do I care, just want to pay for my food and go. As I was looking around not knowing who to look for the "bartender" railed two people saying "we don't handle that" multiple times. Kind of ridiculous as again, I do not care. I was not happy with the POOR customer service and will take our business down the street from now on. Friday June 26th, 6pm.

Great service. Food was ok. Better than chili's though lol. I won't return because I don't like the prices for ok food. Place was clean but they need a total overhaul of their recipes. Just my honest opinion .

I had a coupon for FREE entree, if you buy an entree and 2 drinks -- SOLD my BF and I had dinner and sat at the bar -- we ordered Tuscan spinach dip -- good chips ordered Blackberry Long Island Tea -- wow, love it Entree - I ordered ribs & shrimp -- love the Jack Daniel's sauce.. mmmm My BF ordered Rib eye with Langostino Lobster Topping -- pretty good, if you order medium rare... medium is too done for rib eye anyways... we ordered the Tennessee Whiskey Cake... which was delicious -- with the coupon, still paid $60 -- I think that's OK price, for this type ofn restaurant... over all, experience was OK...

Have to agree with the majority - there are MUCH better places to go than this TGI Friday's. I've been to other Fridays out of state, as well as the Rosemont store - had positive experiences until last night at this Darien location. We did the $12.99 special also - wedge salads for both, me: shrimp key west, pbutter pie, hubby: chx tenders, oreo ice cream dessert. Sarah was our server - efficient enough but insincere as hell. Food was nothing to write home about, but decent enough. Everything was going along fine until dessert. They brought them both out on smoking hot plates from the dishwasher - hello, people, this is dessert, cold desserts - one involved ice cream which started melting almost immediately after Sarah dropped them off. By the time we realized the plates were smoking hot and the desserts were melting, Sarah had disappeared - we tried to flag her down, couldn't find her, finally after several minutes asked another server to get the manager. A minute or two later, another server comes by and says "is everything okay"? "No, we're waiting for the manager." "Oh, is something wrong"? Dude, just get the manager. Meanwhile Sarah finally arrives - we let her know what happened fully expecting her to take away our plates, go back to the kitchen, tell them they can't serve dessert on hot plates and get the situation resolved. Unfortunately, that's not what happened. She said she's sorry, but it's busy (it was after 8 on a Thursday evening, and there were several empty tables near us), and they can't keep the plates cold. How about if she just wraps our desserts to go? We sat there w/ our mouths open while she picked up our plates and carted them away. Really? It's dessert - we're 20 minutes from home. Honestly, the ice cream won't make it. Paul, who announced himself as the General Manager, finally came to the table. We explained what had happened. He said he was really sorry, sometimes when they're busy (again, it was after 8 on a Thursday evening, and there were several empty tables near us), sometimes it happens that dishes come out of the dishwasher and food gets plated too fast. He offered to have the desserts come back out on cold plates and on top of that - whoo hooo, ready yourselves guys -- he's going to give us two FREE desserts to enjoy at home tomorrow. It's ice cream, does no one understand this stuff requires a certain temperature to be edible? Low and behold, 3 minutes later, 2 desserts show up at our table wrapped in a to-go bag. TEN minutes later the desserts on chilled plates to 'enjoy' at the restaurant arrived. This isn't rocket science, right? Needless to say, Sarah didn't get the % of tip she would have had she used her brain to troubleshoot the problem, and this restaurant is getting a one star rating from me. If you have small kids and want a place where they can run free, and cheap food at a restaurant run by college kids, this place is for you. All others: don't even step inside, it's just not worth it.

Crap service, mediocre food. This review is specific to this location. It sucks and it's sad. On the plus side their drinks are pretty good but I haven't had enough to change this review.

Okay i totally always enjoy going to a fridays when im on break from work or wanting some lunch, i go to this fridays and really need a cocktail, i get refused because i have a out of state ID, soo if your not from IL dont go there for drink for 1. I understand people wanna do thier job but come on i have a social , second ID and my car plates match my ID ? So then i think they were in shift change but i was very rushed with my food, the waitress dropped off my bill before i finished my food which made me say screw dessert and by then i wanted to just leave...yaaa not going back

Pretty good for your average chain restaurant. Friday's has a very large menu so there is something for everyone. The appetizers are yummy, the drinks taste good but are pretty weak. Service is attentive. My issue is that every time I find something there I really like, they take it off the menu! What is with that! All in all of the same caliber restaurants, it's probably my favorite.

Fridays seems like one step above fast food restaurants. Typical American food that is pretty good. However, the last time I went to this location the silverware was really dirty! Can anybody say GROSS!? There were chunks on the spoon and fork! I asked for another set of silverware and those were dirty too with pieces of food on them! Can you believe that!? EEWWWW! Again I asked for another set. If those were dirty too I would've left the restaurant. That let's me know they don't clean their silverware that well cuz what's the chances of me getting 2 dirty sets of silverware!? I was really hungry and on lunch break from work so I ate my food anyway. I complained to the manager about my situation and she gave everybody at the table a coupon for a free appetizer the next time we come in. But who wants to come back to a dirty-silverware-having restaurant!? Needless to say, I will not be returning to this location ever again!

So my sister and I stopped in here with her friend from work who lives nearby and chose where we should go for dinner. Cause normally I would never choose a Friday's...but hey...whatever. So we walk in and get seated right away and even though there were like 5 other tables open in the section we were seated in, we still get put behind the only other occupied table so we are squished in the corner! Seriously! It then took our waiter about 5 or more minutes to even make it over to take our drink order. And after we ordered the drinks, about another 5 minutes to actually get them! We then placed our orders...I ordered the Chipotle Grilled Steak sandwich with fried plantains that I had seen win on Ultimate Recipe Showdown on the Food Network, my sister had a grilled Tucsan Potobello Melt and our friend ordered the Friday's Chicken Sandwich. The food actually came quite fast but it just wasn't that good! My sister's tiny little sandwich came with this roasted red pepper soup that tasted so funny that she couldn't even manage to get half of it down! And her sandwich was just a glorified grilled cheese with very few mushrooms even on it! Our friend said that she liked hers but she is by no means a frequent restaurant goer...so I would have had to taste it myself to see. And my sandwich...the chipotle mayo was delicious, the steak was delicious and that was about it. The ciabatta bread it came on had like a dusting of flour on the top or something that was all over my hands and would not come off, so my hands felt dusty...very weird and not appealing at all! The fried plantains were not smashed enough so they were like the size of regular bananas...so just too thick. And overall the sandwich was just very small. Needless to say...I will probably not be going back to a Friday's anytime soon.

Great local place! I've only ever gone and sat in the bar section because usually i'm only ever ordering apps and drinks. But the atmosphere is clean and the staff is always exceptionally nice. I highly recommend the chicken wings they are to die for! they always have daily specials as well! We went for the hawks game 6 and it wasn't overly crowded or loud it was the perfect balance and the food came out fast the amount of food we got for the price was steal! I always recommend this place if your looking for a quick drink or bite to eat! we have done take out a few times and the dinner portions I think are a bit small but the food always taste great! Jackdaniels anything is amazing!

I don't know why people give this place such a hard time. For what it is, they do a really nice job. Nicole was our server tonight and she was amazing. I got the flat iron steak and it was good. A decent steak with a mountain of fries and cole slaw for $14? That's a bargain. Look, if you want a really good steak go to Capital Grille - and pay 3x as much. My wife liked her burger and my kids got their chicken strips. We like this place.

Always great service and food. Our waiter Brian was the best! Very attentive and polite. Food was great as usual. One of my favorite restaurants since it was built! Walking distance from home is also a bonus. The Parmesan Crusted Chicken with Mac and cheese ~ Yiummy! The prices are very reasonable and the food is outstanding. Will be back again and again.... Kudos to bartender Deston as well!

Fast, adept servers and quality of food is on par with what one would expect from a Friday's chain. These ladies and gentlmen go above and beyond to provide its customers with a great dining experience. I'm thankful for this Friday's and frequent it on my lunch break with my co-workers often. Quick and fantastic, this Friday's is at the top of the chain, if you will.

Worst service I have ever experienced at any restaurant! It literally took over TWO hours to order and receive our food. I absolutely could not believe it. How can you run a business like this!? I'm usually a 20-30% tipper, but the waitress who waited on us got less than a 1% tip! That's really saying something. I'd advise going to why other Fridays but this one!
