The worst pizza I've ever encountered. First off, it's not a New York style thin crust. NY pizza is big slices that are easily foldable. The cheese slice that I got was not foldable, or that big. Also, I regret ordering the Mac and cheese pizza. First of all, the noodles were not macaroni. They were mostaccioli noodles. The cheese was probably from melted cheez-wiz, and there was not much bacon and no oregano, both of which were supposed to be on the pizza. The "famous" garlic knots that accompanied the pizzas were non-garlicky, I'm not sure how anyone could enjoy them, as they just tasted like bread buns with some oil on top. The wait time quoted was 35 minutes, go to pick up pizza at the said time, and still have to wait another 20 minutes. Unfortunately I wanted to like this place, but I did not. Will not be returning. Would have rather spent the $15 for the Mac and cheese pizza for 2 Mac and cheese pizzas from The Fresh Market (the best I've ever had).

A hidden gem, secret pizza recipe passed down from original NY style pizza place. The owners are so nice, the pizza is superb, tastes hands down like NY Style(my favorite) I'm from NYC and I have missed my home town pizza, but my search is over .. The best pizza in Illinois, if you haven't made a trip please do so. Just have the plain pie it's to due for.. Enjoy guys!!

As a former New Yorker I have been hard pressed to find pizza here I like. That said, this place is IT! By far the closest thing to being back on Long Island ever. The place is small but cozy and the staff are always kind and courteous. LOVE THIS PLACE!

It's definitely a slice of pure unadulterated cheesy goodness here. It's very reasonable too. They serve an offering of available slices of cheese, pepperoni, sausage, etc. they use a nice mellows tomato sauce with a good layer of cheese, New York style pizza. When I'm in the area, I always stop by for a slice. I highly recommend it you come in and get a slice or two or heck, just go for the whole pie. They're great for sharing too!

We order from That's Amore nearly weekly. It is the only gluten free pizza my wheat-allergy ridden wife enjoys (as The Great Scott + tomatoes, garlic, and spinach) and I have loved a range of other things. I did discover that the "double" pizza was not my favorite (a little dry or over baked for a stuffed pizza?) but their sauce, garlic knots, and other pizza selections are delicious (stromboli omg!) Employees are pleasant, owners super-kind, complete with a perfect pizza place vibe. Definitely a place to try in Crystal Lake.

We are always looking for another delicious pizza in our area and decided to try a "stuffed crust" from Amore. I understand they are commonly known for their New York style pizza. However, since stuffed was on menu we decided to see how it stacked up against other locals. The ordering was quick and simple with the price being average for a 14-16" stuffed crust in the area. The delivery was quick considering we ordered a "stiffed crust" which was right about an hour. I took the pizza from the driver and couldn't help but notice how light the box was considering our order was for a stuffed crust. Upon opening the box we discovered a normal hand tossed with the exact toppings we ordered. I looked at the receipt to ensure I had the right order. The receipt had exactly what we ordered, medium stuffed curst with pepperoni and half mushrooms. Unfortunately that is not what we received. I called to inform the staff of the error. The woman asked "are you sure it's not stuffed crust" when I told her our order was wrong. This made me chuckle but, none the less, I assured here it was incorrect. She informed me it would be another hour to correct and did not even offer a discount. I told her to forget about it and we decided to eat what was a rather bland pizza with sparse red sauce. So I have to base this review on the "New York" style pizza we received. The cheese on top was extremely overcooked and crunchy which made the pizza dry. This pizza was subpar to how classic New York style pizza is made and also cut. I think sometimes people get blinded by nostalgia some businesses claim to offer by recreating food from various areas of the country when they review. I would be hesitant to place another order from here given the inaccuracy of our order, the staff's response to their mistake, and the pizza quality given their prices.

They BURNT my pizza. But as you can see...i gave them 4 stars. Why? Because they rectified that situation QUICKLY. I had an hour to wait for my Metra and decided to get two slices to go.. They asked if I wanted it warmed up, I said yes.. and waited. 15 minutes passed.. I figure it should have been done by now. I went to the register and it turns out..they forgot my pizza in the oven. It was burnt to a crisp when they took it out.out of the oven. I love CARMELIZED crust..but this was far too carmelized. The pizza was blackened! They immediately apologized, warmed up two slices of pizza for me and when gave me a piece of their yummy garlic bread and chocolate cake for free for my trouble. Now that is CUSTOMER service! I loved the New York style pizza(it is foldable so that's New York style, right?) over deep dish. I do. Take my Chicago Card away and chase me out of the city but in my opinion- thin crust rules! I loved how I could fold the pizza up...soft yet still a bit crispy. More soft than anything..and that's how I LIKE my pizza! I will be back when I am in Crystal Lake! Definately can compete with some of the city thin crust joints!

We recently ate at That's Amore. Pizza and sodas. No hassle lunch. I went back on a sunny yet but cold winters day to get something to go for lunch. I had my dog with me as both of us have cabin fever from all the recent snow and cold weather. I know that bringing dogs into an establishment in most of Illinois is frowned on (and probably illegal) so I immediate told the person at the counter that I wanted to order something to go... The guy in the back did not hear me and immediate said "We cannot have dogs in here". I understand. However, he could have said "Ma'am, we cannot have dogs in here BUT if you like we can give you a menu and take it outside and we'll take your order".... Basic common sense service... The woman at the counter could tell that he created an uncomfortable situation and asked if I wanted a menu. I said no and left. I live around the corner from That's Amore (now on Main Street in downtown Crystal Lake). I am so saddened that so many local establishments make NO / ZERO effort to get to know their neighbors or be the slightest bit accommodating. I was not planning to eat lunch with my dog inside of your restaurant. At the very least you could have had a sense of humor about the situation.

Great pizza, good customer service, very kid friendly, reasonable prices and personal attention from the kind owner! We'll be back. Highly recommend for families with kids, they can watch Metra Trains go by and color on sheets or table covers. Plus they have a few parking spots in back if the street is full.

Love this place for a change of pace. We've only had delivery so far, haven't been to their location near downtown Crystal Lake just yet. It's New York style, big slices of pizza. Their salads are great too. The appetizers we have ordered were good too. Friendly delivery.

Staff was friendly, place was cute and a good location. I ordered two slices of cheese and the guy asked if I wanted garlic knots. I had previously been told they came with the slices and so I asked if they were complimentary. He said they were. I thought this was weird. Don't sell me on something you include. Most importantly, the taste was bad. I had serious high hopes for this place as all my friends think it's fantastic. Cheese was bland, sauce was bland, crust was okay. The pizza was overall flavorless. It was also cold, it took 7 minutes to heat up my slices and they were cold. Garlic knots tasted like pillsbury bland bread soaked in oil. I wouldn't eat this pizza again unless they paid me too. However, they were very nice and the type of place is exactly what Crystal Lake needs. Nothing makes up for a three dollar slice of shit pizza though.

This place is great and local! New York style pizza is the bomb diggity. I live right over by it and have only been to it once or twice, that shall change in the near future. -The 11 Year Old

Really enjoy the New York style pizza and the price is excellent for the size of the pie. They have carry-out and delivery options and I love having them in downtown Crystal Lake, as it is perfect for a quick slice at lunch. Other menu items I would highly recommend are the chicken strips, which are lightly breaded and come with an excellent marinara sauce and the homemade chili is an outstanding addition to the everyday menu as well. I do wish they were open earlier on Sunday's and later on Friday night and Saturday, as randomly ordering pizza at 10 PM on a Saturday is not uncommon and who doesn't love pizza with Sunday afternoon football. However, working for a family business myself, I completely understand the desire to have shorter hours and I will continue to order from That's Amore every time I eat thin crust pizza.

I'm giving this place 3 stars ONLY because I did like their pizza. I got a slice to go along with one of their garlic knots. I liked both. So one night for dinner I convinced the wife to get delivery from them. When we ordered, the employee said it would be an hour for delivery. Ok no problem- until it was 90 minutes and we had to call them. Order showed up right after we called, but the pizza was only lukewarm. Not piping hot. Pretty disappointed. The pizza is good though. I'm gonna have to make sure I carry out IF I order from them again.

Great service. Very friendly staff. Wasn't as impressed with the garlic knots as other reviewers seem to be-but they were good. Ordered breaded/fried mushrooms they were "eh." Not bad, but not notable, either. Pizza is New York style-which is firm yet foldable. Toppings were good -fresh and evenly distributed, cheese had good coverage and the sauce was delish. I love the pizza. Will order the pie again, for sure.

Do you like pizza the size of your face? I do. That's amore delivers. These guys make pizza, and they make it good. It truly reminds me of home (I'm Canadian yo). Any Canadian knows Pizza Pizza makes the best (to me), and I can never find a place in Chicago to replicate it.. Pizza Pizza is like a cross between crispy thin crust and New York Style pizza (soft crust). When your slice of pie is coming out of the oven reheated for your special order, it's got a nice crisp crust that flakes in your mouth. I'm drooling just thinking about it! Hands down the best place to grab a slice that's quick, delicious, and cost effective on your wallet. While others may disagree, That's Amore reminds me of home, and that's why I'll keep coming back. Also the sauce is perfect, just saying.

On a hunt for my favorite pizza place and had this one marked and I wasn't too disappointed. The ingredients were sooo fresh. I knew once I smelled the aroma I would be satisfied. My only complaint is that my crust wasn't crisp and I was a mile or two outside of the delivery range, so I had to pick it up.

Simlilar to the majority of the human race, my family are all big fans of the pizza pie! We tend to stick with the pizza joints that we are most familiar with and leave it at that. Well, thanks to all the fantastic Yelp reviewers raving about T.A.P. we ventured away from the norm. The definition of Amore is LOVE and that is exactly the feeling we have for our new neighborhood pizza place. I say neighborhood pizza place because they are in the process of closing the Rte. 31 location and opening the new dine-in space on Main St. in downtown C.L. I phoned in my ordered and was greeted by one of the sweetest ladies. It was evident after some conversation (Yes, she actually had a conversation while I placed my order...unlike most places that are more concerned about getting the order and getting off the phone) that she was the owner. When I gave her my address she said "oh, we're going to be neighbors!" I told her this was our first time trying their pizza and that I was inbetween ordering the buffalo wings and Fancy Fries...she said that the Fancy Fries are her favorite and to give them a try...you can always try the wings next time. Well, she was 100% correct on her recommendation...they were very tasty...perfectly crunchy and the sauce was a sweet spicy mix. See my picture for a visual of the deliciousness. The pizza and garlic knots were great. As most reviewers have already mentioned, this is New York style, not the thin cardboard stuff. It was nice to hold the piece up and not have it fall over...simply fold it and devour! That's LOVE Pizza! Can't wait to try the dine-in experience and meet these extremely pleasant owners and support our newly located neighbors. I will now be TAP'n quite often into my new LOVE for fancy fries and NY style pie!

I really enjoy the New York style pizza here. They sell it by the slice and of course the entire pie too. I come here mainly during lunch time so I stick with "by the slice" ordering and I've yet to have a bad slice. I find the crust to be the right consistency, the right blend of cheese and the toppings are fresh and plentiful. These are easy to pick up and stuff in your face type of slices... the best kind in my book ! I also love the new location, a great upgrade compared to their last location. I like sitting by the window and watching the train come and go, and people watching while chewing on a holism slice of pizza.

The new location couldn't be better. This place is great for swinging in and grabbing a slice or ordering a pie and having it delivered. They do great with large orders and by the slice. The garlic knots are buttery garlicky awesomeness. If you are downtown bar hoping and want a slice to fill your gut, I recommend stopping in. The owners are always around and some of the nicest people you could deal with. Another great Crystal Lake business.

We've tried That's Amore about 5 times now, since they've moved. The first couple of times were okay, maybe one time being not so good. Tonight, the pizza was great! And I'm a true thin crust girl, the thinner the better. Tonight the crust had a little crunch but still medium thick. Very nice. The only thing that brought it down from a 5 star is the bacon I ordered on the pizza is almost non-existant. But other than that? We all were very happy. I think they've finally found their stride in their new location. YAY

See my tip- but this place is great. They opened a new location with actual seating inside, and I'm taking advantage of the free wifi right now. Same peeps, same pizza as their semi-still-open route 31 location, so eat up and smile.

This is definitely a "New York" pizza place. The crust was excellent, the pizza well made with quality products. For those NY pizza lovers - you will like that the slice folded perfectly. Just reminded us of one of our local pizza storefronts that we grew up with in NJ and are very hard to find around here.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
