Good food, great service, live music and reasonable drink prices. I can't ask for any more than that. I regularly show up with a crowd of 20 plus people and the staff here handles it with ease. Love this place.

Out of burgers at Sunday lunch even though there are 5 customers here and the tavern burger is their $5 special today. No vegetarian entree options. No changing table in the bathroom for diapering babies even though this is a family establishment.

Stop in for a dinner and had the chicken and mash potatoes. The chicken had a great lemon favor sauce and was well worth it. The mass potatoes however were cold. Probably would not recommend or return we will see. The Rush on Roosevelt

Gourmet price for subpar food and beer.

I didn't know what to expect and was almost afraid of what I would find, based on some of the Yelp reviews. We attended a Bridal Shower here. We had the benefit of the brunch, so I cannot address food ordered off the menu. Was it the best brunch I have ever had? No. Were there a ton of selections? No. But, there was a nice variety: bacon, sausage, ham, biscuits, gravy, potatoes, salad bar, and an omelette/Belgian waffle station. A nice variety. One side is the bar area, the other the tables and booths for dining. No scantily clad wait staff, and drink orders were filled in a reasonable time frame. Unfortunately, the only comfort station is located downstairs. Despite an elevator and stairs, I found this an inconvenience. Plenty of TVs if you come to watch a game. Parking is behind, not next to the building.

This place has such a strange ambiance to it-- is it a sport bar with all the tvs and slot machines? Then it has pretty dark mood lighting and interesting art on the walls- so is it more of a lounge? I've been there for a quick drink and also for dinner. They kinda keep you separated out for those two things, which is ok. I'm a girly drink fan, so was pleased to see they had Lindemans beer on tap, and also house made sangria. I had a steak salad when I ate there- it was fine, not super huge though, and I was still hungry by the end of the meal. If asked to meet someone there, I wouldn't protest, but this isn't a place I think to go to or recommend to others.

The queso de cabra is an excellent appetizer. They prepare this starter dish exactly the way it's prepared at the best Spanish restaurants in the city. I enjoyed the tower burger as my entree. It was cooked to perfection (medium) and every bite was filled with flavor. I look forward to ordering their other menu items.
(4)Mandy V.
Great food, staff and atmosphere. I love that they are a Blackhawks bar. Great place to watch the game. BUT THEY ARE WAAAAY UNDERSTAFFED. Hire some more waitresses!
(3)Angie R.
Great place to watch sporting events, plenty of large screen tv's. My husband and I came here to watch the Hawk's game and didn't have to worry about who was facing the tv since they were in every corner of the place. Unfortunately the food could be much better. We ordered the margarita pizza and french fries. The fries were much better than the pizza. I expected the pizza to be pizza but it was some form of flat bread, the cheese wasn't melted all the way and the sauce not so good. I think it was a frozen pizza.

Sports bar or restaurant .Stay with the sports bar folks !! .Hostess got lost looking to see what was available .reappears and seats us 10 feet from where we are standing fo 10 minutes . No staff---------- had to wave down a passing server to be told thats not her station and goes about HER business .Back to the hostess station and she`s busy on a cell phone and can`t be bothered at one point after i said excuse me I get the wait a minute finger .Brunch was like high school cafeteria line and food tasted it Couldn`t get out of this place fast enough.but we were held hostage because waitress was such a math wizard she couldn't figure out the bill without help from another server . One and DONE Never again

I love this place. I went here for the first time in January unexpectedly for my birthday and had the best time ever. We walked in with 10-15 people, no reservation. They were super accommodating considering how packed the place was. The food was so delicious, and service was decent. I have gone back at least once monthly. Their food is beyond good. There is always a good time to be had as well. The one time I did gave a complaint it was addressed immediately by management and it was properly handled. My favorite place and first pick in the area.

Walked in for Lunch on a Sunday Noone greeted us. Three people at hostess station. Then a woman asked us how many we said two. She walked away then from the p the side of the restaurant orion us to come there. She brought no menus with her. She assumed we were having the buffet without even asking. She was very rude. She asked us what we wanted to drink at which point we said we were not sure and we wished to see a menu. She left quickly ce back and threw the menus on the table. Strike two! Finally our server came to the table. My husband wished to know what beer specials were offered. Before she could answer the rude woman that seated us said mimosas and bloody marys. I stated that I said beer specials at which points she rudely replied there aren't any. Maybe a visit from the Health Dept. Liquor Commissioner or the Illinois State Gambling Commissioner would improve the poor attitude from the employees due to the fact that there were several violations in plain sight.

This place could be the best bar in the area but, it's not. They have a little bit of an identity crisis with their menu. They don't know if they are an Italian restaurant or a sports bar. Place is set up nice for a sports bar and TV's everywhere. Even though there were a lot of staff there, the service was not great. The staff also was not knowledgable about the menu. Also no drink menu. No specials either! There was also one tap that was out place blocking the view of the tv. I ordered a burger and it was good. Also ordered the pizza and tasted like a frozen pizza. Bathroom was out of paper towels. This place is average, in my opinion it's the managements fault for not paying closer attention to details. Hawks and Bulls were both playing and less than twenty people on a Saturday night should of been my red flag when I walked in.

I went there tonight with about a dozen people - probably some of the most easy going people I know. The food was cold and extremely late. Three people had hair in their dishes and my fiance had notebook paper shreds in her soup. Before leaving, I spoke to the manager or owner (not sure which). He came over to the table and looked annoyed that we disturbed him. We didn't ask for discounts or anything, we just told him what happened. He took the tiramisu with the hair and said he would look into it. He throw it away and never came back to our table. Instead, he sat back down and continued to drink. Pathetic.

Great atmosphere, fun vibe! Good option for drinks with friends. Bigger bar than most restaurants in LaGrange. Will be back for the music.

Been coming here since it opened. Food is decent most of the time. Drinks are over-priced. But since I'm on their mailing list I get the specials sent to me. Forgot that every Tuesday is 2 for 1 appetizers/drinks. So went there with a few girlfriends on July 3rd (Tuesday)...forgot about special and they never offered it. Could've used the deal that day since I ordered my usually Pineapple infused martini ($12) - ouch! Went there two days ago and asked about it. The hostess was told you needed to be on their 'texting' list to get the special. Long story short...YOU need to bring it to the attention of the server or you will not get the deal. Pretty crappy since the first time I heard of it the server mentioned it. Will come back for the special, but the bands/dj are for old timers...and I'm almost 40!! SO REMEMBER TO ASK FOR THE DEAL ON TUESDAYS!!!
(3)G w.
Great place to hear bands... BUT it is a SHAME that you CANNOT SEE the bands... two reasons: 1. The owners do not build a platform for the band to be on... to ELEVATE them over the people dancing on the dance floor... they BLOCK the band. (not interested in seeing the people dancing... as the entertainment) 2. The decorative fence that is used as a divider... to the right when you walk in the door... you CANNOT SEE over it... it blocks your view. See it here: tavernonlagrange.com/ind… Bad planning on the interior designer's end. I prefer to see the band over dancing people... or a fence. First time there... not sure if I will be back for these reasons... it was fruuuuustrating.... might as well had a DJ... hard to see that, there was a band at all.
(3)Oscar A.
I came here about a month after it opened. I thought it was a nice step up for the neighborhood. The garage door windows remind me of bars in lincoln park. Nice touch. The food was mediocre, and the service needs to step it up a few notches. I can see potential here.

This review is only for the bar - we didn't eat. We went to see a band on a Thursday, it was quite full, management was very accommodating to us, they set up a high top just off the open dance area with a perfect view of the stage. We were there for about 4 hours and had 3 different servers during the night, they were attentive to us. The place is LOUD, all the conversations combine into one big din. If you're looking to get loud then this is a good choice. Tables on one side are next to two roll up doors that were open air to the nice summer night. They have a dance area in front of the stage, the floor is concrete. Plenty of people were dancing. We just had drinks, I thought the value was good. We had one mix up with a bad drink that I had to reorder. They put the replacement drink on a separate bill. When I said I didn't expect to pay for a bad drink, the waiter summoned a manager who said he'd take care of it.
(3)Jeff J.
The large open room is fairly nice to look at but the sound reverberates like crazy in this place! Its loud with people there- useless to try talking when they're people and a band! I like the pizza but the rest of the menu is average. Nothing special or different...pass.

This is my favorite place to throw a party. The atmosphere is modern and classy. The food is the shocker. I haven't ordered a single dish that I haven't absolutely loved. The Tavern Chicken is indescribable. A total must have! And to the reviewers who have been living under a rock for the last century... OF COURSE they force gratuity!!! Haven't you heard of all the a-holes who leave without giving gratuity? That is a servers PRIMARY INCOME!!! Many businesses do this now. Don't be mad at the server. Be mad at the jerks who don't tip now days! And believe me, they're everywhere. If you get bad service then do a charge back! duh. I was made aware about the 18% gratuity, for a party larger than 6, more than once by the owner. Saul is my favorite server and let me tell you this guy is extremely courteous and knowledgeable. He knows what his restaurant serves and never forgets anything. The owner is also very helpful and easy to work with. I wish I could give them more stars!

I recently visited Tavern on La Grange and I would highly recommend this bar/restaurant if you are looking for a "higher end" place to visit in the south suburbs. The decor and atmosphere are very nice. I would actually say this is a great bar for women. I plan to come back here with my friends for martinis! I visited for lunch and had a salad and the goat cheese appetizer- BOTH were AMAZING- definitely not your normal "bar" food.
(5)Tammy B.
Had dinner here for the first time tonight. Brought my 2 year old, but was disappointed they had no children's menu. The food was decent- I had the Chicken Parmesan, with the spiciest marinara sauce I've ever had. My little guy would not even eat it. My husband had a steak sandwich that he said was "pretty good". I was really disappointed that none of the few entrees they have included soup or salad- everything was pretty much a la carte, so not the best value. Overall, I'm sure this place is good for a drink, but for dinner, there are better places out there.

This place has no idea what it wants to be. I sat there thinking that it needs Chef Ramsey all over it. It seems to be pieces and parts of different restaurants coming together in a mess. Here is the "I am trying to be ultra hip and exclusive" side of the joint: - Overall it's pricey. $32 for most steaks with one "side", salad and any other sides are extra. $16 for 4 shrimp for an appetizer? - Valet Parking - Nice interior Here are the parts that make that not work: - Crappy...really....crappy food. My wife ordered salmon with garlic potatoes. The salmon was overloaded with some goo and the potatoes could have cleared a 5 mile radius of vampires. She send them back and got rice instead. Looks like some old thawed peas came included. Gee, thanks. - TV's everywhere. That's fine, if you are Buffalo Wild Wings or a sports bar. Again, simply doesn't fit a high end atmosphere and price point they are going for. - T-Shirts that say proudly "COUTRYSIDE, IL" across the front - Huh? - Paper napkins. You want $30 for steak and you give me a paper napkin? - Lousy service. My wife asked if there was a drink special. Five minutes later, the waiter comes back and says "no". We also asked about any food specials....again, a trip to who knows where and "no". Big sign out front we saw on the way out said "Special, Fish Tacos". I think this place needs to pick its persona and go with it. Be high end, that's great. Then be good at it.

I visited here on a Saturday night and the short wait for a table was probably the high point of the visit. The booths were nice and large but it seems that they clean them with Armour All, because they were super slippery and waxy feeling. When we sat down we were handed a menu and a wine list; when we asked the waitress for a drink list she informed us that they didn't have one. Our bread arrived promptly, but to our dismay it was soggy and wet to the touch. We decided to order our beer and appetizer at the same time, when we asked what kind of beers they had on tap, the waitress handed us a beer list. The waitress was clueless as to what beers were served at the bar and even repeatedly mispronounced the names of beers we ordered (Fat Tire was "Flat Tire" and Harp...well my boyfriend had to point it out on the menu). You would think that a basic knowledge of the beers available would be something good to know? Our appetizers came at least 10 minutes before our beers and the waitress made sure that we knew that they bar was backed up (it was bottled beer and the restaurant was half empty). We decided to order appetizers as our meal because there wasn't anything special on the entree menu. We ordered potato skins and the waitress asked "Would you like your potatoes cooked medium or well done?" I've ordered a few potatoes in my day and have never been asked how i wanted them prepared. When i asked what exactly she meant, she followed up by asking if we wanted our potatoes soft...Uhhhh yes, that would be preferable. When our food finally arrived, I asked if she could bring us some hot sauce, to which she informed me that the restaurant didn't have any. About 2 minutes later I asked the busboy the same question and he immediately handed us Tabasco Sauce. Our mini-burgers were super dry and not hot. Our receipt said we ordered our burgers medium, yet the waitress never asked us how we'd like them cooked. The receipt did however note that we requested our potatoes be cooked well done. The wait staff at Tavern on Lagrange needs to step it up BIG TIME! Without common knowledge of what the restaurant has available I'm not sure how it will maintain customers?

I went on Friday grand opening and I have never been so disappointed before. I didn't know for sure what a Tavern was but I guess it's suppose to be more of a bar? I convinced my two other friends to go check this place out with me instead of going to our friday night regular spot TGI Fridays. It was such mistake! When we were seated (by ourselves) I ordered Margarita and my friends ordered bud light (bottle only) and a lemonade. I thought it was really weird that they don't even have any beer on draft. It took FOREVER to get our drinks and I was surprise to see that the waitress brought me a clear, fizzy drink rimmed with sugar...I was really confused. When i took a sip...the only thing "margarita" about my drink was the tequila i tasted. I told the waitress that it tasted like tequila and sprite. The waitress argued with me a while about it, which is a no no. I finally ask to change my drink and ended up getting a bottle of coors light. When the drink was sent back, the waitress, then came back and told me that the bartender told her that they don't have a margarita mix so she made her own "mix". Ok...at this point i was pretty upset bc they didn't even make me aware of this fact. Plus..how hard is it to make a margarita? How do they not have those ingredients when they have a bar? Then it took a long time for the waitress to come back to take our order. My friends ordered the cheese burger (can't mess that up!) but they some how found a way to. The food took forever to come out and when it did, it was pretty much raw. My friend who doesn't eat meat unless its fully cook, had to send it back which took almost 30 mins to come out. They said that it was on the house and that the chef made it completely new ( which is how it should always be. Not put it back on the grill!) so we were happy about that. BUT then we noticed that it was the same exact buns as before. So the only "brand new" thing was the the patty and it was so chard on the bottom. O yea and the so called "Tavern Fries" which was supposed to be seasoned was not what we expected at all. For 3 dollars we got one whole potato that is sliced like chips with parsley as a garnish. So much for seasoning..... Needless to say I don't think I"ll go back anytime soon. I understand that it was their first day, but they messed up so much! I don't think they were ready to open at all. On top of that they were trying to charge me $8 for that tequila and sprite (margarita). Maybe instead of spending a lot of money renting expensive cars to park up front, they should spend a lot of money training their staff and get a better bartender that knows how to make drinks.

Amazing food! My absolute favorite is their "queso de cabra" - I'd always wanted to try goat cheese & this had me & my friends wanting to lick the plate clean. In fact, one of my friends was disappointed when we finished & the waiter took our plate away : ) Another plus is that if you attend on a Friday night they have bands playing & I like that they don't charge you for at the door. This has become one of our favorite places to go to & can't wait to go again.
(5)Laura G.
I came here for my sister's birthday on a Saturday night and I loved it. The food was great! I had the skirt steak with fries and my husband had the burger. Both dishes were delicious. Later on we had some chicken wings and those were great too. The cocktails were a bit too strong at times but delicious as well. I loved that they had a live band playing 80's music! The DJ was great too. We had a blast! Can't wait to try the brunch!
(5)Lotus F.
Stopped in for a few drinks on a Saturday afternoon. Staff was friendly. Drinks were expensive. Looked to be a fun place at night - beer pong table, bags and bands. Clean!
(4)Rob V.
My only complaint is that on Sunday afternoons, their in-house version of "Bear Down, Chicago Bears" has a polka-like quality to it, which makes me want to seek out a Green Bay Packers fan and shout insulting things at him. Food is far superior to standard sports bar fare (nachos, cheese sticks, burgers). In the past, I've enjoyed their Sausage and Peppers and Chicken Marsala. Tonight I ordered their (Allen Bros.) Filet Mignon Sliders, which were outstanding - tender and flavorful with a spicy sauce served on the side. Wait staff is friendly and professional - someone is always there to greet you when you walk through the front door, and the girls who tend bar are more than willing to laugh at patrons' bad jokes.
(4)Nikki M.
The food was OK but the service was pretty disappointing. She only came to our table a few times and I had to flag her down for a refill.
(3)Plumbing P.
After we completed our jobs in the area, we were looking for someplace to get some food, driving down laGrange rd we ran across this place. We were pleasantly surprised when walking in of how clean the place is, we sat at the bar to eat. The bartender was fast to get our drinks and menus. The menu items vary from appetizers to steaks and seafood. We ordered the turkey club with the tavern fries , with a side of chips and guacamole . The also gave us a complimentary cup of soup. Price is very reasonable and food was good . We will be back to this establishment in the near future!
(5)Abel V.
First time here! Have heard good reviews so we had to try it. Place was clean, nice decor, TV all over the place for the Blackhawks game. We ordered the bruchetta and calamari for appetizers. The service was prompt and very cordial. The food was great. We had no complaints. I ordered the skirt steak w/garlic mashed potatoes. Meat was cooked to perfection, potatoes were made from scratch! My wife had the "Tavern Chicken." That was phenomenal; tender, juicy, sauce was delicious. Will definitely go back for more.
(4)Essie J.
This is going to be one of my favorite places! I can feel it! We came here to watch the second to last Hawks game and had a blast! Place is clean, easy to find, has parking, great service, terrific wings, yeah, drinks (mixed) are a little pricey but I can switch to beer! We were seated in the most comfortable booth outside of Rumbas, and well they're closed soooo they don't count. Our waitress was on top of things, kept us in fresh drinks. Tvs everywhere, they also have live music on I think Saturdays. Will definitely be back.
(4)Edward B.
Only had drinks here once at the bar with a friend when the place was basically empty. The bartender was very friendly and helpful and the drinks were good - strong enough and good quality. Didn't have any food though, but I might be back again just out of curiosity to try it.
(3)Chris J.
Must have the brick oven chicken
(5)Adriana D.
Last night was the my first time there with some friends and I will not be returning. At first being that it was a Saturday night I could understand the long wait for our drinks, however when other people around you are getting served and it takes 15 min. to get one drink is ridiculous! I honestly believe that they were racist, I tried calling the waitress not once, but 3 times when I needed help and she ignored me, after finally yelling HEY YO, she turns around and tells me "I heard you the first time". My business is as good as everyone else, and it's unfortunate that they have people like this working here, because overall I really liked the place. I will never be returning here and I will be letting people know of my horrible experience and believe me word of mouth travels fast. If you are a Hispanic or any ethnicity besides white, yes they will treat you like garbage!
(1)Lisa K.
Just awful....No second chances here! Even the iced tea was bad!
(1)Jules H.
Friday @ 5pm in the burbs... You're probably wanting cold drinks, a couple tasty bites, mindless entertainment, chill bar crowd...well, I found all 4 here! I had 2 frosty rolling rocks, a delish shared plate of mini cheddar burgers with tavern fries (ask for ranch dipping sauce on the side) and won $13.70 at slots! Bar service was okay, table service much better. Glad I ate and drank here, and really glad I left with $13 additional dollars in my pocket! Hopefully my luck continues here ;)
(4)Alison B.
This is one of our suburban go-to's!! Meat-loving eating fiance *hearts* the blackened pork chop and steaks. I am 'intolerant' to onions, but love spaghetti sauce... and they have spicy, onion-less sauce. OMG! Yummy, warm sourdough bread. Really clean. A mix of sport-bar and upscale-ish nightclub feel... No cocktail menu, but they will make anything you'd like. Service is good + friendly, but sometimes a little slow. Only thing to note is that on Fri and Sat nights, they have a crazy reservation policy. I haven't figured it out... but I think they have live music so AMEX cardholders can reserve a table?? I don't know.... I called to reserve. They said ok. We got there and they said they didn't have a reservation (15min after I called). They seated us in the bar area-- which would have been fine except it was winter and we were next to those garage door-windows that open, so it was cold. Must be fun in the summer though!
(4)Liz J.
Warning stay away! I went here for lunch with my boyfriend the service took forever. We got wings & a small pizza. The food took at least a half an hour plus and when it came out the pizza was on cardboard.... I spend an hour waiting for frozen pizza. Also it cost 25 dollars. Bad cheap food even worse service. Needless to say I'll never be back.
(1)Meriel C.
Went here on a Groupon for the breakfast buffet and was just not my cup of tea. The food on the buffer was cold, though that it was probably because they had the windows open and it was cool outside. The buffet was heavy on the meat, which I do not eat. The waffle was ok, but likely would have been better if they were made to order as opposed to sitting under the light. I will say that the service was decent, but I likely will not be back..
(2)Dave S.
I really like the atmosphere/décor here. It was a dark woody type décor with somewhat of a sports theme. They didn't overkill with the TVs though. There were just enough to give you a good view of the screen where ever you may be sitting in the establishment. We went here for their Sunday brunch and it was small but decent. Nothing really stood out as amazing but it all hit the spot. It was a bit expensive but I always get my money's worth regardless of the price! The buffet was always well stocked throughout our visit. Our server was very friendly but she completely disappeared after her initial visit and we had to hunt her down to get our check. It was a decent meal but I would not go out of my way to go here. If someone asked me, I would not hesitate to head here again.
(3)Julia F.
My friends and I had a horrible experience last night and NEVER will be going to tavern on la grange again. The martinis were all either made wrong and/or watered down... the whole group of us agreed. It's unfortuante because we all live in the area. When we spoke to the MANAGER about our bill, instead of diffusing the situation and listening to our concerns, showing empathy etc- he was defensive and argumentive. Unbelievable. We will be sure to share our pathetic service at this establishment. A VERY truly disappointing experience!!!!! Just thought you should know. We are not even interested in ANY restaurant credit!!!!!
(1)Jeff D.
Visited here to watch the Hawks game between running errands. Sat at the bar and Natalie took my order which was a burger. 20 minutes later, I inquired about my burger. Then 5 minutes later it showed up. It was tasty, juicy and a descent bun. I never was asked how everything was and my soda was never refilled after being empty for 15 mins. The decor is like a lounge but has slot machines in the back as well. Ironic thing is there were 2 managers on duty but seemed more involved with chatting w regulars vs working on service. For a Saturday afternoon, they weren't that busy. Won't come back.
(2)Liz K.
Came here to watch a game. For some reason we decided to order bloody marys and they sure were good. Their fries are not good, but I had their mini pizza and if you like thin crust and cheesy then you must try it. I ate the whole pizza thinking I wouldn't. It is a nice place and if weather permits they open on side but it has a screen, yet you can still get a great breeze. Service was great but prices are a bit high compared to the area...but maybe it is because it is a nice place inside?
(3)Osiris V.
Music was on POINT the night we went. It was oldies but I like that type of music, it was definitely ringing my bell. I don't know what the place used to be but it seemed like it might have been an old auto shop. They had their "garage doors" open that night with some mesh to protect us from nasty multi legged creatures lurking around. Beer prices seemed average and since I didn't try the food I can't really judge but the atmosphere was great.

A great looking bar/restaurant in Countryside.

I had to update/downgrade my rating of Tavern after this past weekend. Actually, I'd give this place 1.5 stars if I could. The start of the evening was fine. I met a friend for dinner. I asked the hostess if I could reserve a table of six, as we had more people joining us later in the evening. The hostess was very accommodating and friendly. We were seated right away. Our server was somewhat prompt. It took a while to get my wine. She apologized saying they had to find a fresh bottle. OK. I'm glad they didn't give me the stale stuff. Our food came out pretty fast and it was good. No issues here. Here's where it goes south. As our party arrived, one friend ordered a chocolate martini. After about 10 minutes, the drink started to curdle and turned very gritty. She asks the waitress if she could get another martini but with different vodka, that the drink should not be curdled or gritty. The waitress says, sure, but they're not going to take the first one off your bill since you already drank some of it. Really? That's awesome customer service. Serve a shitty drink and pay for it! So the waitress comes back with a straw and tells my friend to stir it up. Maybe that will help! Is she new? Then the second martini comes and the same thing - curdled. Then the kicker....my friend leaves early and asks for her check. $25 for two shitty, curdled martinis! Are you freaking kidding me? It's Countryside! Get over yourself!! The best and most igorant part was, they charged my friend the 18% gratuity and she only had 2 drinks. Another friend ordered the mushroom soup. When she got it, she said it tasted like they dumped the entire container of salt in it. It was so bad, after one spoonful, she couldn't eat it. When she told the waitress this, she said she'd take it off the bill. But did she? Hell no! My drinks were watered down, so I switched to water. The waitress asked if I wanted another drink and I politely said no, that I was driving. I didn't dare tell her my drinks were like drinking water and that I wasn't keen on paying $7 for water. Then she kept asking me if I wanted another drink. What part of, I'm driving did she not understand? I'm pretty sure the waitress was jonesing for more tip money but my group is not cheap and we would have tipped the 18% that was included and above if she was a good waitress. And, since the restrooms are located in the basement, apparently the staff ignores this part of the business and the ladies restroom was dirty. Toilet paper on the floor and the trash can was overflowing with papertowels. Literally! Clean up your act!! I'd hate to see the kitchen. Save your time and hard earned money on this place. The only thing good out of this evening was the band.

A hidden jewel in the west suburbs -Great Atmosphere - Great LIVE Music - Great Food - and the staff is always upbeat. Try the Tavern Chicken - I dont know what they do to it, but I crave it and have gone back several times. I like the fact that the owners and family are involved and will do what they can to accomodate your needs. It is a lively place and large, sometimes loud depending the time and day - so bring your dancing shoes several THUMBS UP for me!

So I typically go here for their 2fer Tuesday specials and every time I go in for it- it changes! Even though right on their website it says 'drinks and appetizers'! Then it wants you to txt 'tavern' to a certain number and you always get an error so you still have to ask for the deal. This has been going on for months! When you tell the owner he acts confused and then says 'oh they changed it up'. So last night when I went in and we sat down the waitress greeted us and I simply asked 'So what's the special for tonight?'. It was back to the drinks (but only beer/wine/ & well drinks not the Martini's) and appetizers in the 'red box' only. So as long as you know when you start to order you're good. The table next to us was not happy though. They drove all the way down from Grays Lake because they enjoyed the place so much the last time there were there. But felt it was a bait and switch this time and didn't get the same deal as the last time there were there. They weren't about to leave after driving that far. So, if you don't ask for the 2fer you don't get it! The food is good and I have always enjoyed the appetizers and Tavern Chicken. I like how in the summer they open the garage doors (on the side) and you feel like you are in an open bar. They have way too many tv's though and could lose about 1/2 of them. I hate that they have so many of them in the dining area so I typically sit in the bar area because the dining area feels like Buffalo Wild Wings. I've been there for the cover bands too, which have been great. Even danced some evenings - it's great to find a local place that has dancing! Live entertainment! In summary . . . kind of funky place but the area needed something like this so they will be successful regardless of some of the poor reviews. Just ask for the deal of the day when you go in - as it isn't too consistent.

Had lunch here recently. It was just ok. Service was wonderful and I do like the space. Nice, open, and airy. I would like to return for drinks and appetizers though. I was told they have some really nice entertainment in the evenings.
(3)Chris L.
It's a nice place, both inside and out. The food is pretty good too, and they have a good beer selection. The prices are a little high, about $25 for a sandwich and 2 beers... Otherwise a good place with decent atmosphere. I will say that it's a little bit of an older crowd here.
(3)Bobby O.
While dining here I used yelp to order our items from the menu. We went with the pizza, tavern chicken, fish tacos, and the mini burgers. I was totally satisfied with the food and furthermore the prices were fair. The after work bar scene looked like they were having a good time at the bar area. They have regular live entertainment on Saturdays and I will have to give it a shot. One last thing, I had a bloody mary and it was tasty!

So much potential. So many mis steps. Hmm . . .for being open for 2 months- Tavern on La Grange still has many of the new place "blues" to work out. Three stars for now as they are new, but this could go either way, folks! The building is interesting. Almost commercial looking from the outside with the darkened windows and liberal use of brick- it reminded me of a doctor's office. But pull open that door and you find yourself in a huge space with tall ceilings. large, riveting, hand painted murals peppering the walls and an area in the corner for the entertainment that they have on the weekends. We were seated in a booth along the front wall- but the best seats on a nice day or night are on the north side of the building- where they roll up garage doors" opening the side of the bar to the outside. Interestingly enough- they have these huge "screen sheets" that they snap in on the open doors . . . .never saw that in the city. (wonder if it's a code thing?) Another mystery is that there is a shrine like (altar?, liquor case?)area on the inside south wall- and when we asked our server about it, she just shrugged and said she really didn't know anything about it other than it was "someone's uncle" who is (was?) in the vodka business. There is a framed picture of a man there (the uncle perhaps?) There are also a series of 6 cupboard doors in the "shrine" that intrigued me as well. Hmm . . would love to know what that is all about as it looks a bit out of place in the dining room. Back to our server. She definitely needed a little more training in customer care and maybe a little more interest in the place that she worked?. She didn't know anything about the "shrine" or the massive art on the walls " You have to go up and look at the little cards on the walls cuz I've never looked at them", said she. I might suggest that all the servers look at the art as they are such focal pieces, people are going to ask about them, and the people who painted them. And when we told her our order (salmon and a cheeseburger) she had to ask us twice about wanting ketchup or mayo. And guess what didn't come when the food did? Mayo or ketchup. Or cheese on the burger, for that matter. She had to go back to the kitchen for both. What our server did know about was the social aspects of the bar. Salsa lessons on Sunday nights, karaoke on Tuesdays and live music on the weekends. Now at least that sounds like fun! The food was just okay. My medium burger was closer to well done, and my friend's salmon and asparagus was drowning in butter. They also served warm bread and butter with your entree that looked really good. But it must be baked off in the restaurant as the loaf we had was still frozen and cold to the touch in the center. Parking is easy as there is a private lot. And dinner ran only about $25 without drinks so the prices are fair. They just need to get the level of food and service up to par to be really successful. I had high hopes for this place. For now, 3 stars as a starting place. I'll give it another try in a couple of months to see if they have worked out the "new place blues".
(3)Karen C.
My sister and I came here when I had one of those online coupon specials. We came for a very early dinner so the place was basically empty and nice and quiet. The appetizers were good, but the meal itself left something to be desired. If you can't get your potatoes right, I am not going to come back. I'd probably come here for a few drinks and some snacks, but that's about it.
(2)J J.
went there on a saturday night when the band was playing. it was soooo loud it hurt my ears and body! don't people realize you can get permanent hearing damage from sound at that noise level? my ears and body hurt well after I returned home. also, the bathroom for the ladies had no toilet paper! yuch. i will never return there again.

This place is OK. Nothing really special about it. They were great about helping to set up a benefit for my girlfriends uncle, who is battling cancer, so I give them BIG kudos for that. As far as a regular day at the joint is concerned: The food is average, and the servers seem to have a hard time with groups of 10. ;) I came here for a friends 21st birthday, and found that it was like pulling teeth to get a drink. I had to literally flag the lady down each time as she didn't check on us very often. At one point I asked for a beer, never got it, but found it conveniently on my bill. Thankfully they were able to remove it without issue. None of the employees here seem especially nice. Actually most of them act like they don't like their job very much. Went here on a Friday night, place even had a DJ, but there was hardly anyone there aside from the people in our party. It was sad to see basically no one on the "dance floor" Place is ok for a regular neighborhood bar. Food is average at best. Drinks are about average price though.
(2)Adam J.
I was a little skeptical about the place and put off going for several months. I went tonight and was pleasantly surprised. The Tavern Chicken is truly something special. The ambiance is really great as well. I'm not sure why people say it's overpriced as I found it to be the opposite

It's a shame they don't allow for zero stars, though in fairness the bartenders were hard working and somewhat friendly. That's the highlight. The real problem here is the management. They have no clue what customer service is about and really don't seem to give a damn once you're in there. It's football season and there are several games on TV which my group had an interest in watching. Asked if they would change from WGN news, which was muted, to one of the games. Mind you, its the news, not a Hawks game, Bulls game or some other event that was requested but the news. The bartender asked the manager, he just looked at her and said no. That was it. No explanation, no reasoning whatsoever other than he just didn't want to. Well I don't want to spend my money at a place where they could give a damn about the customer, especially for such a small request. It's pretty apparent from the other reviews they won't actually take care of the customer. Don't like it? Tough. Drink curdling? Drink up. Meal not cooked properly? Chow down. And by the way, you're still getting charged even if its not to your liking or just flat out prepared wrong. Should have taken advice from my brother who had a similarly terrible experience. There's plenty of options and we chose to leave and won't be returning.

I came here for drinks on a weekday evening. They have a good variety of bottled beers like Alpha King or Three Floyds Pride and Joy. Our server was attentive but did not overwhelm us. It is nice to have a new bar to visit that is close to my place. I did not realize that they also have a larger parking lot in the back. I will have to go back to try the food or when they have the dueling pianos.
(3)Chris M.
Sat at the bar for a drink. Decided to have some appetizers. Thin crust pizza is awesome, Waitress suggested the chicken which my wife had heard is really good. We gave it a shot. They split the chicken onto two plates because she knew we were sharing . Very good service when they do that!!!! The chicken was everything they raved about All was good except for the obnoxious guys at the end of the bar. Not sure where the owner/manager as but it was awfully early for drunken obnoxious peeps!!! Won't stop us from coming back....
(4)Sarah B.
Delicious Roasted Red Pepper Soup. New server Karen was pleasant and accurate. Turkey wrap was generous on the meat. Wifi avail. I liked the murals on the wall. I'd come back for lunch.

Our favorite wine shop is next door, but my husband and I only recently tried this place. The good: Drinks were very reasonably priced. They have a good selection of wine and they give you a good pour. I would definitely go back for a drink and some people watching. Everyone is very friendly and the service is great. The bad: The food! Apart from the La Briola Sourdough Bread, nothing else is very good. The Burger tasted very "school cafeteria" like and they have a strange problem with the definition of "fries". We asked what the tavern fries were and our waiter happily described them as thinly cut french fries, which happens to be my favorite. We were surprised to see under seasoned potato chips instead!?! Nothing else that we tried was very good. I would go for the drinks but only after eating somewhere else first!
(2)Mandie L.
Went to Tavern on La Grange with a Yelp deal. Food was good and staff was friendly. Although the owner and waitress had no idea how to redeem the yelp deal, I had to have them adjust the bill twice! Other than that, had a great time and would definitely return!
(4)Liz C.
We came here a while ago to see Groove Dynasty! Great show! Great service! Good beer selection! Didn't try any food, but maybe next time!
(4)Eric Y.
We went with a Groupon and found that there were some things to like and some that weren't so good. They have a large martini menu but when you look at it, it's all vodka martinis, not a gin martini in sight. Don't they know that a real martini is made with gin? Wine list is small, no vintages listed, but I wasn't expecting much at a place like this. Ambience - a fellow Yelper said "barn-like" and I agree, and would add that this place looks like it has not been redecorated since the late 80s even though it's only about a year old. I heard the decorator used to be with Whitesnake. There are plenty of TVs to watch the game if you want that. Foodwise, it was pretty good. We did not have any appetizers. The lamb lollipops were decent but didn't wow me. The ribeye sandwich was delicious. The meat was super tender and cooked to perfection. The broiled lobster tail was rubbery but maybe it wasn't the smartest thing to order here. Tavern fries are huge thin cut planks of fried potato. Think kettle chips on steroids. Yum. Service was very friendly but the food arrived after a loooong wait. Overall, it seems like a decent place to have straightforward food, maybe watch a game.

The brunch was nothing special, but it was tasty enough. As others mentioned, waffles weren't cooked to order, which was a drag. The cooked-to-order omelets almost made up for it, though! And everything else on the buffet was quite good. We got a Yelp deal ($10 off), so that made it worth it, PLUS the server didn't charge us for our kids (1 1/2 and 4), which is what bumped it up from 3 to 4 stars. I think the lunch/dinner food might be better. But it ended up being a cheap and enjoyable brunch, so we left satisfied (if a little mystified at the decor).

Went back about 8pm on a weekend with my kids, 8 and 11. There is no kids menu and the not so subtle waiter let it be known that "technically, we're a bar and not a kids place but I might be able to suggest something". His effort was poor, as well as his service. He must've been between modeling jobs. We all left somewhat disappointed not so much with the place, but the HELP in this place. I guess if yer not young and cute the young wait-staff figures yer just old and in the way. Shame. Us oldsters generally tip the best even on a bad day. I still say TOL needs to hire MILFS. These LaGrange waitresses (and waiters) ain't Tavern on Rush caliber to be sure. PS. I say...allow the tatoos, shun the smokers at the door. Make them go stand somewhere out in the parking lot, or the alley or something. YICK..
(2)Cheryl V.
I'm liking this place more and more. I've never eaten here so I can't speak for the food. I like the dancing! They've secured some great bands for Friday and Saturday nights. And in the burbs of LaGrange, Countryside, Brookfield, etc., this is a very nice spot to hear a good band that plays what bands should play....dance music!! Kudos TL, for finding your niche!
(4)Larry H.
My wife and I like to try new restaurants, so when this opened, we decided to give it a go. All we wanted was pub food, so we thought this would be good. We ordered burgers, and when the waiter asked if we wanted to try goat cheese on it, I was a little skeptical. Reluctantly, I agreed and the order was placed. When I tasted it, I had found my new favorite burger. It was so good! Since then, we've been back a few times. The service is not the best, but it's not the worst we've ever experienced. The size of the place makes it a little barn-ish. It's loud and very bar-like. I guess this is to be expected, but it would be nice if they used something to quiet it a little, at least in the dining room. This time, when we went to dinner, we had purchased a Groupon. It was well worth it! For an appetizer, we had the Tavern Chicken. If you don't eat anything else there, you have to try that! It was a little lemony and crusty. It was surprisingly excellent! We will continue going there, but next time, I am certainly going to order the Tavern Chicken!

hmmmm, not sure what happened. came back here on a friday night same day as my first visit. we were there much later, at 11 p.m. WHAT HAPPENED? we were the youngest ones there. the waitstaff was wearing loose tees and normal fitting pants. did i miss the memo? was there a late "early bird special." just want to let you guys know that it was a very different crowd and atmosphere this go around. maybe the live band had something to do with it? there was a "temptations" like band.

I went there tonight a week after they opened after seeing the first two reviews it looks like the got most of the kinks out of the system. We walked in and were told there was a 10 min. wait, the hostess asked if we wanted to wait in the bar so we did and hostess came to get up about 5 mins later. I ordered absolute and cranberry and a mich ultra and it was $10 which I didn't think was bad at all. Our water and bread was delivered to the table quickly and our server was right behind. We order moz. sticks as an app. and they were great the marinara was amazing they must make it themselves. I ordered the ribeye sandwich and my friend order a burger. It turned out they did not have ribeye so I ordered a burger too. The moz. sticks came out and our food followed about 10-15 mins later. Our burgers came out and were perfectly done, the fries look like chips but are thicker and were delicious. Our total bill for two mixed drinks, one beer, moz. sticks and 2 burgers was $43 which I thought was pretty good. The place it's self is beautiful a very modern jazz feel there are garage doors that they can open in warm weather and a very modern industrial feeling, yet still warm and cozy. They had a live jazz group who were also great. Would make a great group outing or date night. I would feel comfortable in jeans or evening wear here.

We recently had brunch and mimosas here with the groupon deal. The buffet is mostly meat products, with salad, fruit, and made to order omelettes and waffles. While the quality of the food is good, there is nothing original or exceptional. Service was slow, we were never offered more coffee or another mimosa - both of which we were happy to order and pay for as necessary. There's no ketchup or hot sauce available and since the waitress was hard to locate, we couldn't even ask. It's a good deal but not really my style of breakfast. Get some eggs benedict or seafood dishes and I'll gladly return.
(3)Alexandra M.
Decent food, friendly service. The food is a bit pricier than I would expect being this is a bar. The appetizers are as expensive if not more so than some of the entrees. Service improved the experience.
(3)Kim F.
If you want decent food at somewhat reasonable prices this is the place to go. They also have some great entertainment. What they dont have and have always been lacking is good wait staff. I have been there numerous times and not once have I had good service. I am not sure why but at least it is consistent!
(2)Michael M.
We just went in for a drink after we had dinner elsewhere. The wine list leaves a lot to be desired. My wife asked for a white zin and I got a red. My wife tasted her wine and didn't like it at all so we pushed it away from us which is normally a flag to the bartender that something was wrong. Our bartender walked by us three times it wasn't until I put down my credit card to pay did she notice that the wine wasn't consumed. To her credit she took it off the bill but she didn't seem that busy earlier to not notice it. The atmosphere is ok, but there is nothing in the way of bar entertainment except the tvs at the bar. For a place that is so big having the bathrooms downstairs is a bit offputting as well. They do offer free valet, but it seems a bit unnecessary on a Tuesday night. I probably won't be back as there are other bars/restaurants in the area I can get a decent drink and have some fun.
(2)Janice R.
Food was great! I had the Tavern Chicken and the flavor was really good. Not your typical bar food nor bland chicken plate. The atmosphere is welcoming and the service was great! I also had the Pineapple infused vodka martini. It was good! They have good music on the weekends and next time I'm going to try the pizza, since Im stilly searching for the perfect thin crust pizza. I hear the Margherita is great. This is definitely one of my go to places in LaGrange. I just tried the Sangria and I loved it! ...andI have Spanisheritag

It was our first and last visit to Tavern on LaGrange. There were too many negatives to give it a second try. First of all, we had a waitress who was not very attentive. She never came back to see how we were doing. Next, the drinks tasted like there they had no liquor. We ordered zucchini sticks as an appetizer for four people. The order was $8.00 and the basket came with 7 small sticks! Not even enough for two each!! Ridiculous. Next, we ordered the 1/2 lb Tavern burger. There is no way this was a half pound burger ! A piece of cheese was an add'l $1.00 for the burger as well as other toppings were $1.00. A $7.00 burger can easily go to $10.00 and so not worth it. The bill came and our $5.00 drinks were $7.00 on the bill. We brought it to the attention of the waitress and she took the bill and did a readjustment. She brought it back without a mere I'm sorry. Needless to say a bad experience overall.

I've been to lots of restaurants and I can confidentally say that this one has THE best service ever. Before I could even think of asking for another drink, it was there and when I wanted a dish out of the way.....poof....another attentive staff member would take it away and clean the table. I loved the decor, the food is delicious (the "Tavern Chicken" is to die for!!!!) and the pineapple infused vodka is a "must try"! I enjoyed the live music and all staff were friendly and answered my questions quickly. It is a little noisy, but I enjoy live music and would like to sit closer to hear the band (and less of people's conversations closer to the bar). The staff make plenty of room for dancing by quickly rearranging the tables and chairs. This was my third visit and I can't wait to return.
(4)carmella M.
First time at Tavern on LaGrange, had the burger and my cousin had the brick chicken. We both like the meal very much and will return,
(4)Marta G.
Great atmosphere...but disappointed with service. We were a party of 3. I asked for separate checks and was told she couldn't do it. O.K. Server took long to take our order, long to serve our food and in my opinion lousy service. When we got the check to our surprise the gratuity in the amount of 18% was already included. I was insulted. She was not deserving of such a high amount. Nor do I believe a party of 3 she be charged automatically.
(2)Jean S.
Just came from this place tonight and the food was phemonenal. La Grange has many good eateries, though some of them seem to be "phoning it in" lately (ahem Palmer's). My husband had a skirt steak and I had the chicken special. Both served HOT and exactly as ordered. Tender veggies, fresh ingredients, settled beautifully in our tummies. The bartender even knew the meaning of "slightly dirty" for my martini. Our service was perfectly pleasant, though you do have to be assertive if you want something more or different. What's wrong with that? Whatever bugs they need to work out, the kitchen has it's stuff together. I hear they are going to cultivate a retro dance bar thingie. Sounds fun, but please keep the chef well paid.
(4)Cindy G.
Horrible service...staff needs to communicate with each other. My brother and I both ordered medium rare burgers and when the burgers came out they were charbroiled!!! The meat was CRUNCHY instead of soft, juicy, and a little pink in the middle. We sent them back and the waitress seemed to act confused when we said we wanted the burgers medium rare and on top of that was bothered we wanted new cheeseburgers and said she was going to check with her manager. The manager comes up and also seems to be confused about what medium rare means????? After a few minutes of describing in detail (short of almost going back to the kitchen and cooking it ourselves) what medium rare was and sorting through the confusion (his), he said he needed to talk to the cook. Now I'm confused??? The manager can't just take our burgers back he has to check with the cook!!! So after a few more minutes of waiting for the waitress then the manager then the cook to figure out how to cook a burger....he finally took our burgers back and got us new ones. The two stars are entirely for the second burger which was delicious!!! It was everything we wanted it to be juicy, soft, and a bit pink in the middle. When it was time for the bill, we were charged for all of the burgers! We mentioned it to the waitress who said she thought the manager had taken care of it (communicate people). After some more waiting, she finally came back with our bill with only 2 cheeseburgers on it. The manager did come to our table before we left and offered an apology and a dessert on the house, which we didn't accept because we were ready to go after all the waiting but it was a nice gesture after the whole ordeal. The place itself is a very nice place, but staff needs to communicate more with each other and maybe reduce customer waiting time for the small things. Not sure if I will give it another chance...
(2)Michael O.
Way over priced and food is so so.
(1)Andrew M.
Well, not much has changed, I stand by my comment it's the nicest place in the area but it for sure needs a new manager, I'm not sure who interview's the staff but they are clueless when it comes to bartenders, it's bad enough not having a drink menu and the food being just shy of "ok" but when you get better service at the corner gas station and you have this beautiful space something is wrong, I really hope they are listening to people, this place can be huge if they make the right moves now before it's too late.
(2)Herb M.
we had a great time....very cool bar area....and the food was very good...service was pretty good also....
(4)Matt C.
Food was delicious, but the server, Saul, added gratuity to our table of 2. Then, he failed to return the itemized check with the credit card slip. I'm guessing he was hoping we didn't see the added gratuity and would tip him more. My advice: enjoy the food, but read the bill carefully!

Went here using a Groupon on a Sunday afternoon. Place was fairly quiet but atmosphere was nice and quiet enough to converse. We orderer Grilled Salmon w/asparagus & Stuffed Pork w/8 finger pasta + 2 sodas coming to $37. Would definately recommend grabbing an appetizer as the wait was around 40 minutes or so, some bread on the table would have been appropriate as another suggestion to the owners. Salmon was very fresh as was the also grilled asparagus (which would liked to have seen a little more on the plate), It sat in a VERY buttery light lemon sauce.. (some extra lemon wouldve been nice and again bread would have been great). Making the dish feel rather greasy to the taste. Pork was nicely cooked but came in a rather strange sauce which also covered the pasta. Bread couldve come in very handy since both plates seemed to have rather a lot of sauce. From what I could see most of the dishes others ordered again had rather a lot of sauce attached to the meals. Sauces- Might be something to go easy on in future. Bread- should be served with every entree ordered. Other than that it was quite tasty and a pleasant visit, not too sure Id go back regularly, but once in a odd while.

Stopped into Tavern for a quick beer and were greeted upon entering, but found the service to be unpleasant. It took over 5 minutes to be served and it was blamed on a shift change. Had this been explained when sitting down this review might have been a little better. However the ambiance is a bit lacking. The garage doors are a cool idea if this is Wrigleyville, not LaGrange. The bathrooms are in the basement, in case you get here and wonder. Overall, I do not think that I will be back to this bar unless it undergoes a major adjustment.
(2)Debbie V.
We had a groupon, but decided we won't be returning anytime soon. The service was wonderful as was the soup, but the fries disappointed and the pizzas were really bad with almost no topping. It rather reminded me of a frozen pizza with that little bit of cheese. When we arrived the music was a wonderful piano player, but the lighting was so bright that it looked like they left the cleaning overheads on. About half way through dinner the lighting dimmed and a DJ started. Unfortunately the restaurant tables are between the music and bar so the DJ cranked it up so loud we had to yell over a table for 4. We gave up and left after the main course because we could no longer talk.
(2)David M.
Had the lamb chops, queso de cabra and potatoe skins for an app. Then the buffalo chicken sandwich for dinner. The atmosphere was cute and the service was great. Loved it.
(5)Em F.
We'll get a drink, but we won't get food there again.
(2)Paul A.
The beer list is small, the food is overpriced, and not all that great. But, if that was the extent of it, the place wouldn't be worth posting a review about. Instead though, I am forced to lament what could have been a really great club if it wasn't for the fact that the owner is one of the biggest slimeballs that I've ever encountered. I saw the guy yell at his waitresses and the band in full view of the customers. Maybe you earn the right to treat those around you like garbage when your name is Trotter or Bayliss. But when your idea of a premium beer is Blue Moon and your recipes for lobster strangely resemble recipes that I've made from my Betty Crocker Cookbook, you need to be extra special nice to everyone you encounter. As someone who is a musician and has worked in the food service industry, all I can say is please, don't support places that treat their staff like this. I know there's only so much money to go around. Please, spend it at places that treat their musicians and employees with dignity and respect instead.
(1)April W.
The food was actually pretty good in this place. I wish i could give it 2 and a half stars. The problem was, every person working there seemed confused. the waitress was really nice but didnt seem like she knew what she was doing. then random servers would come ask us if we wanted more drinks and stuff. Everyone was very attentive but inexperienced. The drinks were good too except i was drinking a sugary martini and the glass was soooo sticky everytime they brought me one. I had the lollipop lamb chops and they were great but the food wasnt hot like i like it, but tasted good. They need to get more organized. they had a great band playing, which attracted an odd crowd of wanna be MILFS. One looked like a young phyllis diller. I would go back, but they need to get it together.
(2)Adolph G.
Love this place, good food, resonable prices & great live music! I play drums for The Movin' On Band & we play @ Tavern every month. The place is always packed & I've heard nothing but good things from our friends about Taver On LaGrange always a great time! Love playing there!
(3)Frank S.
Boo-urns!
(2)Carol F.
LOVE the place! GREAT place and entertainment if you drink wine or beer. Several of my friends and I have been there numerous times, and we are convinced that the hard liquid is watered down (so much so, that we decided to go across the street to get a GOOD drink)! Sad but true.
(3)Bryan H.
My food was delicious and I had a great time.

Atmosphere great! Food not so good, and over priced. $1 a wing? Harry's down the street have cheaper and way better wings. Steak sandwich was lacking flavor and a bit dry. Tomato soup was one of the best I've ever had, and the bread basket was awsome. Kind of like garlic bread. The chip fries served with the sandwich tasted burnt. Overall not impressed with food. Service was average. Its probably a real cool place on Saturday night. Always looks packed.

I don't know where to start with this one....but I guess the beginning would be a good place.... I went here for the 1st time last night with 2 co-workers. I wholeheartedly agree with Mike B.'s comment on the waitstaff - they're clueless. So we're seated, and literally 42 seconds later this scantily clad server in black satin shorts, snug white blouse and porn-star spike heels (you know the type) saunters over and asks us if we'd like to be on the e-mail list to recieve updates (on what?) and offers, etc. T-A-C-K-Y. It instantly made us uncomfortable, but my boss, being a nice guy (hope the porn-star spike heels wasn't a factor) said he's sign up, and she hands him the clipboard. As he starts to write, she then asks, "Can I take your picture as you fill it out? It's for our marketing team....blah blah blah". I don't remeber what she said because I turned to look at my co-worker on the left and she and I were rolling our eyes and blown away at how weird this all was. About 5 minutes later this very frustrated looking server came up and took our drink order. She came back with it promptly, but didn't return for another 20 minutes to see if we wanted to order food. We ordered 2 apps, she sulkily strolls away. Literally 20 minutes later a guy comes up to our table and says, "your server ______ , (whatever her name was) told me about your apps, they should be out any minute. Another round?" He was happier than the first crabapple server we had, but....I don;t get it. Did she go back there and say "oh god....table 53 wants appetizers! jesus!" to which nicer-server-guy said, "dont worry, i'll take care of it! you just rest.". I dont know. the food was pretty good, nothing spectacular. I got a real kick out of the description on the menu of the tavern fries. "Our famous tavern fries with our special secret seasoning" . We we're kinda excited about that, so we ordered them. They're just big, thick potato slices fried golden brown (not bad, but dont call them fries) and the special seasoning must of been the 1/2 teaspoon of dried chives they sprinkled on top. Whatever. There is this horrendous Warhol-type image of Madonna with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth, cant remember which album cover that's from, but it just doesnt fit. They try a little too hard to be hip in terms of decor, and the madonna thing is what killed it. My final quip is the restrooms. They're downstairs. The elevator to get to the lower floor is right by the north entrance. So imagine you're someone wheelchair or crutch-bound and you're anxiously awaiting the elevator doors to open and you do a "i have to pee really bad cuz I didnt know i'd have to wait for a damn elevator to get to the bathroom-dance" while people are filing in the door and watching you in your humiliation? After the thousands of words i've just written, I'll close by saying - I didnt care for this place at all and won't be back.

It is official. I can no longer continue to wait for Tavern on LaGrange to get their act together. When they first opened we were looking forward to having an eatery/bar that we could walk to. But unfortunately the food and the service has been consistently bad. We would forgive and forget and try again but we continued to leave disappointed. I was hoping it was just growing pains but this place just does not have it.
