Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

This was good. Great salsa and guacamole, meats were fresh and had good flavor. Chicken fajitas were good but not very flavorful, tasted like a healthier version, as if something was missing. Steak fajita taco salad was really good. We were sat quickly and served right away.

Never got my food. Waitress never checked on us again. Never got an apology. I'd expand but I'm pretty livid so I'll just post a picture of the review I wrote on Facebook because it won't allow me to copy and paste. I've never received such terrible service in my life.

Best Mexican restaurant in the area, hands down. Amazing authentic Mexican food (and cheap!), fast and friendly service. It really doesn't get any better than this.

Ok - the food and drinks are great that we've gotten. However, we use "take out" a lot and more times than not, something isn't right. One time we ordered fajitas to go for me and another dish for my husband asking them to hold the sour cream and tomato on his. Got it home his had sour cream and tomato and for my fajitas - No tortillas or any of the fixings for it! Called to speak to a manager. Was told he wasn't there, so I was told he'd call me back. He didn't. Just ordered from there again this week. Got my usual dish that comes with guac, lettuce, cheese, and pico de gallo. Was in a hurry so just went home. Lo and behold - no guac, or lettuce or cheese, or pico de gallo! Called again and was told the same thing. Left a message and was told a manager would call me back. That was last week and no call. Lesson learned - Always double check your take out bags before you leave!

Arguably the best Mexican restaurant in the metro east. Great Margaritas--if you order a pitcher they bring the glasses with a little already in them which is a nice touch. Love the food. Not a huge fan of the chips, but good salsa. Good waitstaff. REALLY, like this place.

This has been my favorite place for Mexican and margaritas since they were in the old building where CVS is now. Great food, awesome staff, and fun environment. The outside patio is perfect on nice days. The chori pollo has been my go-to dish since they reopened in the new building. As for the margaritas, you have to get the "golden," it's a huge difference that you can't go back from once you've had them. Also, they have a really good spicy salsa you can ask for with your chips if you like some heat. Overall it's an incredible place to eat and I've never had a bad experience yet, even with big groups on busy nights.

As a huge fan of Mexican food, with most St Louis area Mexican restaurants leaving me disappointed at the end of my meal. Carisilo's was the opposite , the portions were large and the service was fast. The prices were quite reasonable as well. We recieved chips and salsa at our table and refills upon request. I ordered the Carne Asada Steak Tacos they were incredible , my wife ordered the Chicken Chimichanga it was really great food! Definitely going to be frequenting this place more!

I had scoped this place out on Yelp a few weeks ago and was finally near it at lunch time. It looks a lot better on the inside than it does on the outside. The host seemed like there were 1000 places he'd rather be, but the waitress I had was very nice and attentive. The complimentary chips and salsa were OK. Not my favorite of either, just not what I'm used to at the Mexican restaurants I frequent. I ordered the lunch steak fajitas. First off, I thought the portion would be smaller being on the lunch menu, but it was a full order. I like to eat so that was fine with me! The steak and vegetables were some of the best cooked I have had. There wasn't near as much oil and grease in the bottom of the skillet as I see in most restaurants, which is good! The only 2 negative comments I could say about the main dish are the steak was a little salty, and the packs of tortillas only have 2 inside instead of 3 like every other place. However, unlike those other places, they didn't charge me for more tortillas. All in all, this place didn't blow me away, but I will definitely be putting it on the list of places to have lunch from time to time.

My favorite Mexican food in the St. Louis area. My mouth is watering just thinking about Carisilo's. The food is great, the portions are big, and the prices are reasonable. Ask for the hot sauce with your chips and salsa (it's the sauce for the burrito grande, and it's delicious). Pet-friendly outdoor patio, and quick to-go orders. (Also see Carrisillo's)
