Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Close to where I live :) Came here twice, once for pad thai take-out and once for smoothie. Both was good for the price we paid. For smoothie, you could pick what suger level you want ( you could also do this at most asian smoothie place, such as Joy Yee or Tank Noodles) I'll come back again!
(4)Christopher V.
Solid Chinese take out with fast delivery. Chicken dishes use nice large chunks of breast meat. Known for their General Tso. I prefer Shanghai Inn, but they're closed on Monday's and have a small deliver zone. Give this place a shot if you're in the nieghborhood.

Great chinese food, reminds me of San Francisco! I love that there are vegetarian choices, although I would love to see more asian vegetables featured. But I'll take bok choy over broccoli anyday!
(5)Morgan S.
I come here at least once a week, especially since Chicago has been warming up for the summer. They have the best smoothies and bubble tea. My favorite is the thai ice tea with tapioca! Delicious and reasonably priced!

Here's a tip. Take your most macho friends to this place. Why you ask? They'll be hooked and anytime you hear an alpha male use the phrase "lets get Yummy Yummy" it's a guaranteed giggle every time. Despite having a ridiculously stupid name Yummy Yummy is pretty freakin' awesome. The food is extremely delicious, (shout out to the green curry) portions are plentiful, and if that meat-head you brought is actually a vegetarian than they'll be in herbivore heaven cause the menus got tons of options for em. If you're a fan of Asian food, you need to put some Yummy Yummy in your tummy tummy. Ya heard!

Well I placed an order at 7:23 pm, and I am still waiting for it to arrive at 9:48 pm. I know it's Valentine's Day but for the love of God man! I called at 9:00 and was told they were "packing up my order" and since then they have stopped answering their phone completely. I'm fairly hangry right now and have no V Day love for Yummy Yummy. update: 10:04 and still no delivery. I did finally get through to someone and they told me 5 more minutes and offered 20% off next time. HahahahahahahahahNO. There will be no next time Yummy Yummy.

Great smoothies, especially the milky ones. The blended ice is so smooth and satisfying. Take out is also decent, fast, and will surely satisfy a Chinese food craving. I like their real protein products a lot better than the seitan. The seitan was a bit too chewy and gluttonous for my liking.
(4)Jen C.
I'm used to a variety of flavoured milk tea boba drinks but I would get the fresh fruit smoothies with boba drinks here any day. They use only fresh fruit and the strawberry, mango, lychee, and red bean coconut smoothies are all amazing. Chinese food is also really good. This is our go to place. Delivery is quick and food is always consistent. Orange chicken or general tso's chicken, chicken lo mein, and mongolian chicken are our favs.

On a snowy, blustery Saturday night going out and visiting a restaurant for dinner wasn't appealing so we called them up. After seeing the menu with 600+ items you're not sure if they can nail them all. Don't be fooled though since most of these items are repeats just as a meat, chicken, tofu, vegetable, or soy gluten options. This is a great option for eating with friends or family with dietary restrictions since they do have several options. We ordered take out and got the spring rolls, seaweed salad, and Kung Pao chicken. The chicken was spicy and the other two apps were both refreshing and delicious. The delivery was quick and the price was really good.
(4)Sam S.
Delicious food, reasonable prices, quick delivery, and always excellent vegetarian choices. They happen to be very nice people as well.
(5)Steph U.
This is only in regards to the boba drinks. I came here for boba with a friend after we had already gotten dinner. The drinks were huge, but sadly they only have blended drinks. I got an avocado smoothie and it was pretty good. The boba (tapioca) itself wasn't great, but overall, the drink was tasty. It was also more reasonably priced than other boba places in the area in relation to the size of the drink. I'll probably be back.
(3)Taylor S.
I ordered the General Tso, shrimp fried rice and Crab Rangoon. The food was really good. No complaints, delivery was quick. This will be my usual spot.
(5)James W.
I stopped in on a Saturday night with friends for Boba tea. Judging by its size, this place is very much more of a take out destination. I'm convinced the "1" on the "Maximum Occupancy - 16" sign is a typo because this place is...let's just saaay...cozy. I ordered the mango Boba smoothie and it was passable. Unfortunately, the mango flavor wasn't very strong so before I knew it, I had already slurped up half of it in my search for more flavor. However, the Bobas were well made - they were firm yet soft and yielding like miniature black Nerf balls. Service was good. Our Boba drinks came out fast and the cashier didn't condemn us by giving us that usual disapproving "You don't have cash?" look when we paid for the $4 Boba drinks with credit cards. This is a decent place to get Boba tea on the North side if: (1) you can't make it to Joy Yee's in Chinatown or (2) it's an emergency and you've got the shakes because you don't just want Boba tea, you NEED Boba tea...to live. In conclusion: Semi-Yummy but not Yummy Yummy Boba tea.

I've been here three times and all have been fantastic. The place is tiny but almost no one eats in, so don't worry about getting a table. Every dish includes white rice. The egg foo young is three huge patties with delicious gravy. I got the combination style and it was loaded with shrimp as well as chicken and pork. I've never had better. The sweet & sour chicken was perfectly crispy and served with the ruby red sauce on the side, so no worries about it being soggy. The portion is huge, almost too much for one diner. The orange beef is fantastic. I got it carry-out and it was still hot 20 minutes later. The meat slices are perfectly sized, the breading is just right, and the sauce is outstanding, with small pieces of orange peel in it (some good, others bitter, so you may not want to eat it). There was also broccoli but that's not my scene. Their smoothies are great, on a hot dine-in day I saw several people walk in just to get those alone. I can't believe how many times I was just steps from this place on a trip to Crisp and never saw it. I've lived in Lakeview for 12 years and this blows away any other Asian cuisine I've had.
(5)Alissa S.
Ma Lowd this place is amazing. This is the best Chinese food in the city. If you'r a veggie this restaurant is going to take over your life. they offer soy protein and soy gluten which is the most delicious thing in the world (its fake chicken and fake duck). I personally think the best food here is the cold sesame noodles, soy protein lo main and the garlic and broccoli dish.
(5)Dheepak S.
I love Asian foods and of all the Asian restaurants I have tried in Chicago for the past 4 years this place will be in the top 3. Quality food. Family owned. Plenty of options. Perfect taste and pretty affordable. Quantity of the food is sumptuous.
(5)Nichole F.
We ordered Yummy Yummy for delivery which was pretty fast. We had crab rangoon for an appetizer which was really good. I was a big fan of the sauce that was served with it. Entrees were sesame beef and general tao chicken. The chicken was better than the chicken, but both were delicious.
(5)Chad H.
This is one of my favorite spots... Delicious food, really friendly staff, and uber efficient delivery! Love their seafood combo, and smoothies! Highly recommend checking this place out!
(5)Karol N.
Standard American Chinese fare, lots of choices. Service is friendly, and food is quick. We ordered takeout and it was ready in 10 min. The Szechuan sauce on the green beans and pan-fried tofu was too sweet for my liking and the sweet and sour chicken was mostly sweet, not sour.

I am so disappointed in the service tonight (Christmas Eve). I eat here regularly. But tonight I had to wait over an hour for my takeout. Yes it was crowded but the management was not managing the crowd or service well. People were trying to order/pickup and the staff kept taking phone orders. It was rude and not well thought out. If people are waiting over an hour for food why would you continue to take orders when you clearly could not service the orders you already had. A big problem is they need to add staff. The same person that was taking the orders at the register was also taking phone orders and waiting on tables and filling water. It made no sense And after finally getting my food it was COLD!
(1)Pavitra K.
Amazing doesnt begin to cut it! The food is awesome. We had a variety of dumplings and these we're the best I've had in the US! Don't look for ambience when you come in here but prepare to hunker down and eat one of the most delicious meals you've had in a while.
(4)Michelle S.
I don't understand how this place has so many good reviews. I got delivery and the meat made a squishing sound and took the form of breaded styrofoam. The most disgusting food I've ever had. The fried rice was overcooked and the crab Rangoon's tastes old and not fresh.
(1)Laurie H.
This place is just around the corner from us, but somehow, we hadn't managed to check it out in the 6mo we've lived in Lakeview East. Glad we changed that last night! The place is *tiny* (seriously--sign on the wall says "max occupancy : 16", and clearly most of their business is carry-out/delivery orders. I am not sure if we caught them on an off night, because they were very discombobulated about service, but the food was quite good. I am vegetarian, my boyfriend is not. I'm quite happy that they had a menu that was suitable to us both. I ordered fried tofu for an appetizer, vegetarian hot and sour soup, and the Peking Style Tofu (tofu in a brown--maybe black bean type--sauce, broccoli, carrots, pea pods, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, and baby corn. i had them leave out the mushrooms). My soup came out first and HOT does not begin to describe it. It was melt-your-face-off hot. I love h&s soup, and I'm always happy when I can find a veggie version (no meat broth or bits of pork or whatever--you'd be surprised at how varied it can be), and I love spicy stuff, too. But this was SO hot. You could sort of get the flavor out of it, but mostly you just tasted BURN. I wasn't able to eat much and packed the rest to take home, intending to eat it with some rice in it to cut the heat a bit (doesn't reheat terribly well, just FYI. ok, but not really good). Then my entree came out. Mind you, neither my bf's appetizer nor mine has come out yet. I waited a few more minutes for his food to come and in the interim, my fried tofu appetizer came out. So I had all of my food, he had none. So he started nibbling on some of the veggies from mine (no prob). A couple minutes later, his food came out, and we went ahead. The fried tofu was plain, but good. A HUGE portion for the price--definitely something I'd get again. Really, most of the time, with something like this, it's all about getting the texture nice and having a decent dipping sauce, and this fit the bill. My entree was probably one of the best sauces, best prepared items I've had at Chinese or Thai places since moving to Chicago a year ago (not counting the awesome curry noodles I've had a couple places, but that wasn't really a sauce dish...), so all the flubs in service were given a bit of a pass. My bf said his meal was also quite tasty (General Tso's chicken), but his appetizer STILL had not arrived. Eventually, they came and asked how everything was and if we had everything, and we let them know it was missing, and it came out a couple min later (pan fried dumplings). Between the two of us, our bill was about $35, and my bf has at least one dinner left (though I'll need to make more rice--no biggie!) and I've got two or three meals worth. Pretty good value for money and absolutely worth eating! (which, you know, you can't always say!) We'll definitely be back, though it might be take-away. They seem to have a better handle on that :)

While sitting outside at Brazilian Bowl, a friend asked a guy on the street "Hey, where'd you get that smoothie?" "Yummy Yummy", he said. We all laughed, because that didn't sound like the name of a restaurant. Until it was, and we went, and got smoothies, and cried tears of joy. I am a milkshake guy, through and through. So when I had my very first smoothie at Yummy Yummy this past Thursday night, I really didn't know what to expect, but now when I get smoothies elsewhere, I will expect them to taste as good as they were at YY. Mango kiwi. Ice. 24 ounces. $3. I'm not saying I'm trading shakes for smoothies (I'm an American, for chrissakes), but on a warm summer night, I was happy with my choice.

Although Yummy Yummy isn't doing anything radical with Asian cuisine, it's a great neighborhood Chinese restaurant. The portions are very large, and they have excellent vegetarian options. I enjoy both the sweet-and-sour eggplant and eggplant in garlic sauce. The eggplant in garlic sauce is packed full with other vegetables as well and full of flavor. I never dined in at Yummy Yummy, but their take-out service is always quick. From the looks of it, I don't know that it would be an ideal restaurant to eat in as there are only a few tables. All in all, Yummy Yummy is a great, affordable, neighborhood Chinese restaurant with plenty of tasty options on their menu.
(4)Jacob B.
I love love love this place. I could seriously gain 10lbs over the weekend eating some yummy yummy food. My favorite combo is the hot and sour soup, and an order of egg rolls, and an entree. It's all good, it's all cheap, and it all fast! The staff here are great! Very friendly. I don't normally dine in, but it's not that kinda place.
(5)Daniel A.
Basically your typical Asian hole in the wall restaurant. Serves bubble tea and Asian food. Not spectacular and not bad. Good for the average fix.
(3)Barry S.
I ordered the beef egg foo young at 6:30 tonight. I order it a few times a month...I'm a short walk away. It was a 25 min wait and I showed up at 7 and uh oh my order is no where to be found. The usual register lady emerges from the back. The two talk in a language I can't speak. Then the one from the back asks me my order and goes back to where she came from. The girl at the register smiles and says please wait one minute. I wait a few then sit down. Couple minutes later she asks me what I ordered. For like the 4th time I say beef egg young with a big smile. She says ok that will be 9.40 or whatever it was. I say ok but how long is the wait? She says 25 minutes. I said that I ordered it 30 minutes ago and would not be waiting. She says she's sorry. Things like this happen, but here's a couple ways to keep a customer: 1) I pay and then walk home. My food arrives via free delivery not too long after. 2) I don't pay and wait 25 more minutes for free food. I was looking for a little more than just sorry. Maybe a smoothie while I wait? So this sorry's for you yummy yummy...Sorry but I ain't coming back. Time to eat, my Crisp is here!
(1)Kris P.
They have some of the best Asian food in Lakeview, in my opinion. My husband and I live in East Lakeview and have tried just about every Chinese food restaurant within walking distance, and they have the best-tasting food by far. I love the combination fried rice and General Tsao's chicken. Sometimes the service is really slow for carry out when you get there to pick up your food, and their cash register seems to be from the 80's, but the food is really good!
(4)Claire M.
This place rules! I never knew it was there and my husband happened to notice it when we were in search of somewhere to eat after seeing a movie at the Century Landmark. He noticed the sign from afar advertising that they had "healthy vegetarian" food. I, being the pain in the ass vegetarian, of course. I am absolutely in love with VP2 in New York and always whined about how I needed to know of somewhere here in Chicago that offers a similar menu (Chinese food but made with veggie "meat" substitute) and lo and behold, this place has just that! They do serve "real" meat (the place in NYC is strictly vegetarian/vegan) but the veggie menu is quite extensive. It took me a good 10 minutes to decide what to order. We got vegetarian egg rolls as an appetizer and I finally chose sesame soy gluten with white rice. I could've had brown rice for an additional $1.50 but I'm a cheapass and I'd just spent $22 on two movie tickets. The husband ordered orange chicken. Real animal flesh chicken. The eggrolls were good, nothing to rave about. Had a somewhat odd aftertaste though. Not the most amazing eggrolls I'd ever had but certainly not the worst. My sesame soy gluten was to me, a perfect substitute for chicken. It was goooooood. Sadly I ran out of rice and had to stop eating, I have a weird thing where I can't eat anymore once the rice is gone but never fear, we have white rice at home so I brought the leftovers with me and will enjoy the rest of it for dinner tomorrow night. I really wanted to get a smoothie (they had so many flavors!) but I was so full I decided not to. The place is tiny, they only have 8 two-person tables. We were the only ones dining in (they did a pretty mean smoothie operation I noticed) but the kitchen staff came out one by one and sat at different tables as they are their lunch. There was some Asian tv channel playing and it kept showing a guy driving a bus who apparently got impaled and killed by some flying road debris. You can imagine how graphic it was if it was in Chinese and we were able to figure out what had happened without being able to read or understand a word. So that was an added interesting little experience.
(4)Bradley B.
The House Special Chili Chicken is my everything. Amazing vegetarian menu, too.
(5)Ashley A.
Cannot say enough good things. I try to come here one a week, and go through withdraws if I don't make it in. The orange chicken, hot & sour soup, crab rangoon, garlic chicken, egg rolls, and wonton soup are all AMAZING. Smoothies are awesome too (with fresh fruit). Plus, the owner is very motherly and makes sure you're well taken care of. Yummy Yummy is my shit.
(5)Michelle T.
At inside Yummy Yummy last night. Yes, it is super small but there were only a couple other people eating there too so it wasn't a problem. Service was great. We didn't know exactly what we wanted to order so the waitress told us to get the sesame chicken and crispy beef. Glad we did! It was some of the best Cantonese style Chinese food I have had in the city. The potstickers were also a good choice. Would definitely do take out from here next time I have a craving!
(5)Zack F.
I'm a vegetarian and I just moved in around the corner from Yummy Yummy. I was very excited when I walked by and read the menu because as a vegetarian I've given up dishes like Mongolian Beef and it's hard to find hot and sour soup not made from beef stock and vegetarian potstickers. I came in for lunch and went a bit overboard when I ordered scallion pancakes, veggie potstickers, and the Mongolian seitan lunch special which comes with a veggie egg roll and hot and sour soup. My favorite was the scallion pancakes. I always love those. Enjoyed the rest in this order: hot and sour soup, potstickers, Mongolian seitan. The soup was pretty good. No complaints. The potstickers were alright, not bad, didn't love the texture of the dough. Almost forgot the egg roll- standard, not bad. My issue with the Mongolian seitan was that maybe I don't like seitan. Haven't had a lot of it as far as I can remember. This seitan had a kind of fishy taste on the inside. I didn't like it. I'll come back and try a different veggie protein in a different dish. The rest of the dish (mushrooms, onions, scallions) was fine. They forgot to give me a rice choice so they gave me white, I would have asked for brown. The waiter was not very attentive- I ordered the apps and asked for a minute to figure out the rest and I ended up having to go up to the counter to order the entree. And he forgot the soup at first but remembered after I got the entree, not a big deal. Looking forward to finding an entree I enjoy, hopefully next time!

My husband and I have been devoted Yummy Yummy customers for 5 years--the food is GREAT and vegetarian options abound. Unfortunately twice in the past month our food has been ridiculously late--last night we were told 40 minutes, waited an hour and 20, called to (politely) inquire, and were told "it's a busy night" before being hung up on. No shit. We called back and asked to have the tip and delivery fee ($10 total) removed from our $45 order. Reasonable, no? We were refused and hung up on again. Called again and spoke to the manager, who we respect because she runs a tight operation. She offered zero solution, and argued when we told her to cancel the food. We ordered at 7:45pm and it was now 10pm. They need to hire an additional delivery guy and learn some customer service skills--unfortunately neither will bring us back.
(1)Jonathan D.
This is my "go to" asian restaurant. They have huge portions and resonable prices. Some of the best sweet and sour chicken around. The family who ownes this is very friendly and provide great service. The smoothie machine can be a bit loud though.
(5)Erin M.
As a Chinese food addict, I am always looking for a cute local place to sit and relax and enjoy good food. I was very impressed with the vegan-vegetarian friendly menu. I asked for no MSG (as I always do at any restaurant) with no problem. Everyone was so friendly and kind. We ate in the restaurant but it could have been my living room because we felt relaxed and well taken care of. Will definitely be back to support this great local business.
(5)Courtney N.
So disappointed with this place. The Mongolian Beef is just dry beef (not sure if they put the sauce on) and the fried rice is flavor less (and not really fried). So disappointing! However, delivery was fast.
(2)Peggy T.
First, let me say. I LOVE CHINESE FOOD. Since I moved from Michigan, it has been a struggle to find Mom & Pop type Chinese restaurants. All you ever see in the city is the Asian Fusion or Sushi places. I've been pretty loyal to Emperor Wok for years, but I recently discovered Yummy Yummy on a suggestion from a friend, and I must say, it is DELICIOUS. We just ordered takeout for a group of us and everyone was pleased. I got the Sesame Chicken and a side order of Crab Ragoons. Others got the Chop Suey and Mushu Pork. Everyone was pleased. The portions are great and the service is pretty fast. This along with Emperor Wok are my 2 "go to" Chinese places in Chicago.
(4)Fran H.
I like this place a lot. Crab rangoons are great. I get the Sesame Chicken. Reasonably priced and they deliver. I've never been to the actual restaurant. Delivery has always been on time.
(4)Jessica V.
I always come here when I'm off so I get to order the lunch special which is a huge amount of food for the price. I was a little uneasy about the tofu soup they give you but it's soooo good! Like a healthy chicken noodle soup. Amazing. You also get a pretty big egg roll with your meal and a good sized portion of food. Smoothies are amazing and the employees are very nice and always keep water glasses full. The decor could use some work but eh, most people carry out or order delivery so why bother. You come for the food anyway! I have had the pad thai and the beef chow mein and both were amazing.
(5)Chris L.
Really fresh, really good Chinese food. Love the pork with eggplant and spring rolls.
(4)Matt P.
I came here on recommendation from my sister for their fruit smoothie bubble tea. I honestly had no idea what a bubble tea was and so I was interested to try it. It's basically a fruit smoothie (chopped fruit and ice) poured over black pearl tapiocas. I tried the avocado flavor while the others with me had watermelon and cantaloupe. We all agreed that avocado was the best. Bubble tea is supposedly sweeping the nation, and I would happily return to Yummy Yummy Asian Cuisine to have it again.
(4)Roxanne A.
Oh, scallion pancake, how I've missed you so! On the east coast, it's pretty easy to find this scallion pancakes (also known as Chinese pizza) in the appetizer menu of most Chinese food places. When I moved here, that was not the case. I've tried other Asian variations, but there were either too eggy, too ingredient heavy, etc. Yummy Yummy has a great light, flakey version of the scallion pancake for a reasonable price $3.95. It is really delicious and light, enough to satisfy your hunger. Throw in an avocado smoothie and you have a great snack to tide you over until dinner. I haven't tried the rest of the menu, but I've heard good things. If they are of similar quality to the scallion pancake, I can't wait to try to rest of the food. The place is a little small and seems to be primarily a take-out place. The walls are painted a bright, cheery green with orange accents. It's very clean and I would have no qualms eating in, as opposed to ordering take out.
(4)Sunil M.
Place is da bomb. Really friendly owner/host who always puts on a smile. The seating area is limited, so this place isn't ideal for a group larger than 5ppl. And this place has plenty of vegan options, so good for herbivores and omnivores alike. Best dish: Indian Curry. Explosion of flavor, tons of veggies, and ridiculous value. -I've always had it with Soy Gluten, although it can be served with Chicken as well.
(5)Mykie H.
Yummy Yummy does standard Asian Cuisine and does it well. Prices are average, the food was good, but in a food city like Chicago (and especially in the Lakeview neighborhood), it wasn't a stand-out. As a Jewish girl from St. Louis, I crave many of these menu items regularly and it hits the spot consistently. Amy I dying to come back? Nope. But will I? Probably.
(3)Kirstan L.
Great food! Walked in & ordered food to go. I got egg rolls, egg drop soup, sesame chicken, & Mongolian chicken. Everything was hot & delicious. The only downsides here are that I didn't get any crunch noodles to accompany the egg drop soup (I'm accustom to this so maybe this restaurant just doesn't give those with the soup?). The other negative was that people came in to dine in at the restaurant & ordered their food after us, yet they got everything they ordered before we got any of our food. I'll definitely go back & would recommend it!
(4)Justyna K.
The best chinesse restaurant in the are. I work close by and order lunch from yummy couple times a week. The fresh smoothies are THE BOMB! Also , they have great lunch specials.
(5)Lior G.
The best Green Tea Boba in Chicago. Hands down. Amazing lunch specials for vegetarian options. Get the Mongolian Seitan or Empress Seitan. Nice people, great service, great food.
(5)MR W.
Pretty good! Ordered for delivery. Food was still streaming hot and fresh. The chicken dumplings were awesome. The General Tso's and Sesame Chicken were really good too. This will definitely be our new go-to for takeout.
(4)Jamie B.
Appeared Yummy yummy indeed! Fun name, good tasting food. We had the the Szechwan chicken, Kung pao chicken, hot and sour chicken and a lychee smoothie! I love tapioca balls! All the people in here eating seemed to be regulars which is always good to see. Fast forward two hours and we both feel like someone is stabbing us in the stomachs... Not ok. It's probably MSG processed food which is why my stomach is in knots right now.
(2)Giselle F.
amazing... =)

Oh. Em. Gee. I don't often bust out the five-star rating, but this vegetarian is in Chinese food heaven! I absolutely love this place. Hubby and I have been here twice now and haven't been disappointed. Not every dish is as good as the next, but overall they're wonderful. I'm sure there are plenty of Chinese restaurants in town that are equally as good for meat eaters, but there's nothing even remotely close to Yummy Yummy for us veggies. My absolutely favorite is the sweet and sour eggplant. Deep fried goodness! Perfect sweet and sour sauce. I'm actually drooling right now...... Other favorites include the barbeque seitan appetizer (to DIE for), the vegetable lo mein, and the cashew "chicken" (gluten). I also ordered the peking tofu but made with seitan instead of tofu, and let me tell you, it was wonderful. Perfect amount of the black bean sauce and lots of tasty veggies. Also, do yourself a favor and order the jasmine green tea, tasty! The staff members are super friendly and always willing to recommend a new dish or their favorites. Service is casual but prompt, it's a very laid-back, low-key environment. The inside area is very small, just a few tables, as I'm sure they do most of their business through take-out. They do take reservations, though, so you can call ahead to make sure you get a table (I've never had a problem). This is by far my favorite recent find in Chicago, and I really cannot get enough. Having lived in Vancouver for the majority of my life, vegetarian Chinese food has always been at my fingertips. I was deprived for 4 years in Miami and now I am rejoicing that I have it back in my life!!! (Also, for all the reviews making stupid puns about the name "Yummy Yummy," you don't know Chinese food. Everyone who knows anything about Asian food knows that the absolute best restaurants are the holes-in-the-wall with the most ridiculous/silly names!)

Delivery was quick. Crab rangoon, Szechuan Beef, and miso soup were all delicious

Can I give this place 10 stars? If I could I would. I went a long year without Chinese food because I couldn't find a good place at a decent price, then I moved right around the corner from yummy yummy, and I think my karma came through for me. Everything is good- I recommend the following: egg rolls, crab rangoon, steam pot stickers, sesame chicken, general tsao's chicken, the chicken fried rice and last but not least the chicken lo mein. It's all good, it's fast, and it's cheap. All that and you can order online. Couldn't be happier.

This is the best bubble tea / fruit smoothie / stuff tapiocas in my mouth until i can't find my tongue joint I've tried in Chicago. Plus it is that rare place that makes vegetarian food taste good. The soy gluten is something I would go out of my way to eat.
(5)Liana L.
This place as good tasting food - though not very traditional Chinese. I like that they have a lot of vegetarian options, and I love their sze chuan wontons. My only critique is that their dishes are a bit oily.

Two days ago, a coworker of mine had brought in food that looked and smelt wonderful, so of course I asked her where she got it from and I was directed here. I decided to give it a try today and checked out the menu online while I was waiting for my boyfriend to pick me up from work. I saw that they have a 15% off coupon for first time customers. I decided to give it a try and got the chicken with green peppers and tomatoes. My boyfriend got the same thing but the steak version. We waited for about 10 minutes after placing our order. When we got home everything tasted great. My only gripe with this place is that they knew I was a first time customer, yet didn't do the "right thing" and give me the 15% off discount, and I had about 6 pieces of chicken, the rest was nothing but tomatoes, green peppers and sauce. I felt it was a rip off. I was satisfied but definitely not full. Street parking is also nearly impossible for people driving. I would be willing to give this place another chance, but next time I would probably order something different.
(3)Laura H.
4 stars for smoothies, that's the only thing I've tried. Actually, I've only tried one kind of smoothie, multiple times- red bean coconut with tapioca pearls. The place is really little and it takes them awhile to make my smoothie because they have to go get the red bean stuff from the back. The fruit is all fresh and up front by the blender so maybe those are faster.
(4)Elise R.
Yummy Yummy, why are you not so yummy? I ordered the orange chicken and a side of crab rangoon. Five stars for the orange chicken - it was perfectly spiced and hot upon arrival. The delivery was quick enough for take out. What doesn't get five stars is the crab rangoon - which had large slices of onion in it. WHY ARE THERE ONIONS, YUMMY YUMMY? WHYYYY? I want to like this place, but onion rangoon is my reasoning for 3 stars.

ONLY RATING THEIR DRINKS I wanted to wait until I've tried their food before rating them so that my rating would be more credible. But I just haven't been in the mood for Chinese food. However, I have been craving boba drinks on almost a weekly basis this summer. I wish I found out about Yummy Yummy earlier on! They use fresh fruit, big cups, and it's only $3.50. Adding boba is another $.30. It's tasty, refreshing, and the boba is delicious. This isn't one of those Asian restaurants that haphazardly serve stale day-old boba. Time to get my craving satisfied before winter hits!
(5)Michael B.
1.) DELIVERY: Speedy (had food in less time than quoted) 2.) LOCATION: Convenient 3.) ORDERING: Both online and phone ordering for delivery - convenient. 4.) FOOD: Dissatisfying. We ordered sesame chicken and orange chicken - both looked the same and tasted similar. The portions were fairly large, we had leftovers. Overall, we will not be getting food from here again. The service was great and fast (a plus), but we rated them with two stars because we were not satisfied with our food. I hope others have better experiences.

Yummy, Yummy is my favorite place for Asian takeout in East Lakeview. Reasons this joint has received my Yelp-love? 1. You can place your order & pay online. LOVE. 2. The food is ready quickly. 3. The menu incorporates several different styles of Asian food (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, & Thai!). 4. It's a 5 minute walk from my apartment, but if I'm extra lazy, they'll still deliver. I've order many items from the menu and I've loved almost every single thing. The vegetarian menu has a ton of options as well. I wouldn't recommend the Sweet n' Sour Tofu. I've loved their menu so much that I'm always willing to try new things, but as take out, deep-fried tofu ended up being squishy and gross. That being said, the takeout bag always includes sauces, fortune cookies, utensils, and napkins, and the ladies at the restaurant counter are nice and efficient. Recommended items: Orange chicken, Veggie Lo Mein, Egg Rolls, Scallion Pancakes, & veggie potstickers; I'm sure the meaty items are delicious as well!

We were in town for a Conference and wanted Chinese so I found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try. It was late and we were a large party but despite that we had great service and the food was fresh and tasted amazing!
(5)Shawn M.
I love Yummy Yummy! All their food is great and they have a great vegetarian, tofu, soy protien/gluten selection. I especially love their Sesame Cold Noodles, seriously they are great, I like to have them make them really spicy and that makes them even better. The inside is quaint and seats maybe a dozen or so people (Good thing, decor is nice and offers a nice quiet dining experience), staff is friendly and delivery is usually right on time or early. I just wish they were open later! :D
(5)Jerry C.
We get carryout here at least once a week. They make the BEST fried rice and egg foo young - both always fluffy and tasty and never laden with grease. The Asian woman who handles the phone and dining area is probably the best multi-tasker in the world and also takes the time to acknowledge regular customers. Yummy Yummy is aptly named!
(4)Amy Y.
Not exactly sure how this place has such high rating. Listen, I love that there's a vegetarian Chinese in Lakeview. Staff is friendly. Food depend on what you order can be fine to not so good. But it's not 4 stars. The dishes are too sweet and coated with the same sweet sugary sauce that is overpowering with sugar. If you come here, get the chow fun with seitan which you cannot put sugar for. Avoid any of the dishes that you can put sugary sauce in.

Bubble Tea! Bubble Tea! Bubble Tea! Finally, my first ever bubble tea... and ya know what? It was freaking awesome! As someone who is clearly not a BeBaBoBubble expert, I'm not exactly sure if what I had was legit and authentic - um a 'tea' it certainly was not - but I don't care in the slightest. My fancy blended concoction of fabulous fresh fruit and chewy, sweet, glorious tapioca thingys was enough to send me right over the man in the moon and back again. Where have you been all my life Yummy Yummy? Not close enough, obvi. I love you! Do you love me? Circle one: Y or N. Let's go steady! Either way, I'm nuts about you and your luscious sweet smoothieness... and sucking up those balls? Exhilarating! I can't get enough. I'm already devising thousands of different ways I can enjoy you. See: Mango + Cantaloupe // Banana + Strawberry // Pineapple + Coconut // Lychee + Papaya + Honeydew // Coconut + Banana // Watermelon + More Watermelon // Avocado + Nothing (that one sounds gross) // Mango + Green Tea // Cantaloupe + Lychee + Taro + Extra Bubbles Our life together will be so spontaneous, you'll never be bored! And lest I forget to mention Yummy Yummy, that while your bubbles are best, you're just as good for tasty Chinese eats, phenomenally cheap lunch specials (hello, Orange Chicken + Soup + Egg Roll for $5.95) and a whole slew of vegetarian friendly options, too. Mmmm, you're so multifaceted, Baby! Now I just can't wait to hit up your oh-so-convenient online ordering system and wifi connect those bubbles direct to my heart. Tapioca Swoon.

I live less than a mile away, and delivery took ONE hour. Ridiculous. We got the sweet and sour chicken, broccoli chicken, and egg drop soup. The egg drop soup was the only great thing about our meal. The pieces of chicken in the s&s chicken were HUGE. You needed to cut every piece into 4 pieces before you could eat them. That was just annoying - not a deal breaker. But the meal itself, although a very generous portion, left something to be desired in terms of taste. And they charge $2.20 extra for fried rice. That's annoying, AND not clearly marked on their menu. I'll probably go there again and try something different; even though my food wasn't great, it was still hands down better than House of Hunan.
(3)Amy K.
Got some takeout from YYAC and magically everything was still scorching hot after the trip back to Noble Square. The veggie moo shu was ok but not spectacular. I think it was mostly onions. Maybe have your pot stickers steamed instead of pan fried, ours tasted ok but pretty dry on the edges. The Singapore noodle leftovers didn't survive through the next morning though. They have fruit cups. I'll love them forever for fruit cup B (mango, kiwi, watermelon). Just don't let them put it in the bag with your 1,000 degree food or the kiwis will dissolve into slime. My bad, I thought it would be easier to carry that way.
(4)Arthur J.
Came in five minutes before closing time to order a $4 taro freeze that I had to pay for with a credit card bc I was out of cash. They couldn't have been nicer about it. And the taro freeze (with tapioca balls): UH-mazing! You made my night, Yummy Yummy Asian Cuisine!
(5)Bryan P.
I work nearby. My co-workers hit up Yummy Yummy at least once a week. Their lunch specials are very affordable and come with so much food! I typically eat in. Their dining room is small but the service is quick and friendly. The soups are all delicious and the egg roll is huge. My usual is the Orange Chicken lunch special but sometimes spring for the Crab Rangoon to share. Best Rangoon Ive ever had.
(5)Meaghan L.
First time I have tried this place. We had Sweet n Sour Chicken (very dry), Egg Foo Young ( worst sauce EVER super sweet), Shrimp with Lobster Sauce ( it was okay but barely any shrimp), and Egg Rolls ( those were good). I ordered online and the total was $32. When the delivery guy got here it was $36. I argued and showed proof of the original bill and was informed that they charged me $4 extra for subbing fried rice on the order. Really??? Why wouldn't they call me regarding that? Unfortunately we didn't have enough cash to tip. Last time I will order from here.
(2)Jitka R.
Was somewhat ok to eat it with both eyes closed, except the food lacked freshness and seamed like all was made of cans or frozen packages. All of us felt sick later on. Not mentioning the funny or ZERO ambiance in the restaurant itself. The telephone was ringing non stop, people were lined up all over the place... it is more as a PICK UP place for to go orders.
(1)Leah T.
Very friendly, good quality food. Very happy with this place! thank you!
(4)Mandy V.
Very friendly and good service. Yummy fruit smoothies! We ordered the hot and sour soup, miso soup, Indian curry and chicken pad thai. No complaints! Very good!
(4)Marion P.
BEST veggie Asian food in Chicago. Endless vegetarian and vegan options (including all-vegetable, tofu, wheat gluten and soy gluten choices), including amazing appetizers and soups, an all-veggie menu for lunch specials (great deal with soup and eggroll), and a long list of fresh smoothies. I always eat in; it's a cute place and the people are really nice. Also, random indie rock celebrities eat here. Maybe there's a nest somewhere in the neighborhood. If your mind wasn't blown by your vegetarian choice, try the CASHEW SOY GLUTEN. I've eaten half the things on the menu, but honestly the cashew is the best - lots of veggies, yummy protein stuff, and the sauce is to die for. (And I don't even like nuts).
(5)Kami S.
Yummy Yummy is like the Alinea of Chinese food! There is not one thing that I have tried that I haven't loved. I praise their food and the staff. The name of the restaurant doesn't do it justice. This is a food lovers paradise!
(5)Christine S.
Yummy Yummy is consistently awesome, quick, and friendly. Delicious things I can vouch for: General Tao's Chicken, Szechuan beef, shrimp egg foo young, shrimp chow fun, crab rangoon. I've yet to try their veggie, tofu, and curry options, but if they're anything like the dishes listed above, they'll be just what the doctor ordered.
(5)Ashten K.
Incredible Veg Chinese food! In my opinion the bill tends to add up quickly for a mostly take out type restaurant, but the portions are HUGE! My go to favorites are the soy gluten chow mein, empress soy gluten, vegetarian won ton soup and the jack fruit boba smoothie. Also, during the week they have really affordable lunch options that I love. Yummy Yummy is so worth checking out.
(5)Candice K.
Second visit was just as good as the first. I had the Mongolian Seitan, and my husband had the Mixed Vegetable Soy Gluten. The seitan was in an odd shape, like how you'd slice a kielbasa or something (see photo), and the edges were crispy. There was a crazy amount of onions and mushrooms, which I'm not a huge fan of, but the seitan itself was delicious. The Mixed Vegetable Soy Gluten tasted a lot like the Broccoli Soy Gluten we got last time. I'm wondering if it's the same sauce, but they just throw some other assorted vegetables in there. Regardless, it's damn tasty. I also discovered (as a previous review mentioned) that they give you a noticeably larger portion of food when you order take out. I got an order of the Sesame Soy Gluten to go, and the portion seemed A LOT bigger than the one I got of the same dish when we dined in last time. Maybe because their to-go containers are bigger than the dishes they serve the food in? Who knows. But if you want more bang for your buck, I'd suggest getting it to go. :)
(5)Becky L.
Best Asian vegan food! They have a HUGE vegetarian section on their menu. This place has been open for 7 years, and I just found the secret gem through yelp myself. They have super cheap awesome lunch specials that comes with soup and egg rolls. I no longer eat meat and really miss Mongolian Beef, but their Mongolian Seitan is off the chain (I get it spicy, no shrooms). I could honestly eat it every day. They also have tons of fresh delicious juices, which hopefully make me skinny. The only drawback is the place is very small.
(5)Kelly C.
By far our favorite Chinese food in the neighborhood. The selection is vast (not even counting all of the vegetarian options that they have) and the sauces are really tasty. The General Tao's chicken is one of our particular favorites, but we continue to try new things on the menu. We've only ever done take-out by ordering online and haven't been disappointed.
(4)Andrea L.
Love this place! Best Chinese delivery that I've found in lakeview by far. The food is always delicious and they deliver quickly. I just wish they were open a little later..
(4)Emily Y.
I'm an enthusiastic supporter of this little hole in the wall gem. Though my experience in dabbling with their vast menu is limited, I declare pan fried crispy Szechuan tofu the real winner (though I'm sure anything covered in their Szechuan sauce would give it a real fight). Other treats worth trying: - Crab rangoons, do it! - Coconut smoothie, yes! - General Tsao's Chicken... pretty good And maybe pass on the Chicken Moo shu. It's kinda sweet, and the sauce is really thin, so the pancake gets really wet. Maybe that's how the moo shu do?

Delivery... don't do it. That simple. We ordered for two on a Sunday night, so we expected to wait a bit. Little did we know we wouldn't be eating for 2 1/2 hours. They told us it'd be about an hour, which is totally cool. However, a little after an hour we called to check on the status and were told they hadn't been able to get to our order and it would be an additional 30-45 minutes. They had all our information, they could have reached out to give us this update at any point. We continued to wait, and once 2 hours had passed we called again to see if we'd be eating any time soon. This time the employee who answered could only tell us, "Um, I think it's on its way." They apparently have no system or couldn't check internally to verify, and when we pressed to get a time estimate we were told it would probably be 10-15 more minutes. The food eventually showed up around 30 minutes later. It tasted fine. But the poor delivery service (from the restaurant itself, not Grubhub or anything like that) was enough to keep us from ever trying it again.
(1)Kevin B.
I don't know what all the good reviews are for. The food is below average. The price isn't expensive but it's not cheap either. Forget trying to eat there either the atmosphere is small neon lights place. The family seems like sweet people. However, they don't seem concerned about the customer at all, but rather caught up in their own lives. I've been here twice now and don't plan on coming back. Not terrible but definitely below average.
(2)Dax R.
Food is good. However, delivery is hit or miss. II waited 1.5 hours for the delivery this evening. I placed the order at 6:30 pm. 7:45 pm, I called and a woman says my food is leaving now. Sorry we are busy. 8:00 pm, the food arrives. I hope next time will be better. This was a bad impression for my first order but I will try again as it is decent food.
(3)Kelli S.
I have tried Yummy Yummy twice now, both times for delivery. While I am am excited about their huge vegetarian and vegan options, I am not excited about their texture and taste. First time I ordered the Sesame Chicken, the chicken was mushy and last night I ordered the Spicy Garlic with Soy Gluten with the Dumpling soup...... not that impressed. I moved here from Denver and there are two delicious places there that so far I cannot top! Sorry Yummy Yummy......
(2)Pat D.
I lived right around the corner from this place for a couple of years before I tried it out. I regret not going in sooner. I've been to many Chinese spots in the area and this one definitely takes the prize. The cold sesame noodles are great. They also have all sorts of protein for non meat eaters.
(4)Christina T.
VERY busy on Christmas Day, so don't even give it a try. We ordered on the phone and they said it would be ready in 45 minutes to an hour. We waited until we walked over to the restaurant to pick up our order. We still had to wait maybe another 20 minutes. We were tempted to cancel, but then it came. This other guy was ahead of us and he ordered via Internet. He had already been waiting 45 minutes before we got there and who knows how long he waited after we left. LESSON: Don't order via Internet, at least not on a holiday. The food..... I am Chinese, so maybe I'm a bit more critical. I ordered the Cantonese Pan Fried Noodles. For take-out, they separate the noodles from the fixings. When I got back to the apartment to eat it, I just thought it was OK. I can't really tell you why, but it was just nothing spectacular. Just some noodles and some wet, saucy vegetables and chicken. Just mediocre. The egg rolls were not my type. The wrapper was different than what I'm used to..not the traditional wrapper used on most egg rolls. The taste was whatever. Overall, I wasn't hungry anymore but not quite satisfied.
(2)Matthew J B.
LOVE their food. The place is about half vegetarian and half regular Chinese. The veggie food is awesome, sweet and sour "pork", lemon "chicken", it all tastes so good. They also make bubble teas/smoothies that are quite tasty.
(5)Matt M.
I've felt uncomfortable in asian restaurants before. And I am certain I will again. But this one was particularly weird. My old lady and I were getting our smoothies and we felt like we were putting these people out at they talked angerly in Mandarin while making our smoothies. It was disquieting. Then we get a "thank you/fake smile" on the way out as if the entire conversation/exchange we had just witnessed never happened. Very, Very weird.
(2)Randi E.
The food is delicious and fresh. It's relatively cheap for take out, and the portions are very big. By far my favorite take out in the area.
(5)Timo R.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. You can't beat the orange chicken or Szechuan broccoli. I'm also a huge fan of the avocado smoothies.
(4)Gina D.
I have to say the name is a little silly, but don't let that deter you because the food is, well I guess you could say...yummy yummy. I ordered the orange chicken and it was, no joke one, of the best I've ever had. I appreciated how authentic the food is, for example in the orange chicken you can see the sauce is actually made with real oranges because they included parts of the peel and chunks of orange that gave it a great flavor. The prices are reasonable and the portion size is pretty generous, you could easily feed 2 with one order. Will definitely be back!
(5)Adam L.
So, I've always sort of loved this place, but really don't eat a ton of Chinese food on a regular basis. I'm vegetarian, and they have a huge vegetarian menu, with delicious options. However, it's my meat-eating boyfriend who has become addicted to their (meat) food, and I think we now order out from there at least twice a week. My refrigerator is filled with Yummy Yummy constantly, but it never lasts long. So... vegetarian... hot and sour soup on every order... absolutely a must. I absolutely love it. For 3.95, you get a HUGE container of this soup that can easily serve two. Today, I ordered this, along with the soy gluten corn soup, which was also delicious. Everything I get here is awesome. Last time I was in the restaurant, I ordered the MaPo Tofu, and I think another meat-eating friend ended up eating most of it. I had a weird craving yesterday for egg foo young, and although it isn't on the vegetarian menu (which is really, I think, vegan)... I was able to order the "chicken egg foo young" and make a note online indicating that there should be no chicken, only vegetables. It was delicious and hit the spot. As for meat, I don't have a ton to recommend, only because every single time we order from here, my boyfriend orders the Sweet and Sour Chicken. He says it's the best he's ever had, as is admittedly addicted to it. He used to order a separate Hot and Sour soup with meat, which I got to say looked delicious, but he likes their veggie version so much, and you get so much per order, that he likes just ordering the veggie version now. Every time I've brought people to the restaurant, mostly all meat-eating, they've loved everything they've ordered. Now, this really is mostly a review of take-out, as although I will eat in on occasion, there really is pretty much zero ambiance, and looking at how distracted the staff can seem sometimes, it's a wonder they can turn out really such spectacular food, which they do every single time. You're not going to get witty banter from your waiter, but you're going to get good food, and fast service. Despite this, I really have no reservations about leaving five stars for this place. Very, very good.
(5)Sarah V.
Who wants some yummies for their tummies?!?! Whoops, forgot I wasn't talking to my cat... I'm talking about Yummy Yummy for my tummy tummy! Is this the best Chinese take out in the city? Absolutely not. Is it delicous and on par with pricing? Absolutely. They have a really wide variety of bubble tea selections and it's fun to mix and match flavors. Although sometimes ya end up with a whammy when two fruits/flavors just don't mix (Hi strawberry and green tea. You are gross.) Fyi, bubble tea is really a smoothie with giant black balls of tapioca littering the bottom of the cup, for those who don't know. It's okay, I didn't know either, and now I'm hooked. Yummy Yummy also has a nice selection of healthier Chinese entrees. And yes I do order those healthy entrees with a side of crab rangoon. Don't judge me. Delivery can be on the slow side, though, and placing orders over the phone can be rough. Go with the online ordering instead. Solid 3.5 stars.
(3)Carolina N.
Yummy Yummy quickly became my favorite carry-out and delivery place, not only because their name is fantastic, but the food is on point. Some of my favorite dishes: Basil rice with pork, pad thai, all the fried rice dishes, orange chicken, general tso, sweet and sour chicken, pot stickers, and crab rangoon. I do want to give a special shout out to their marvelous egg rolls! SO GOOD!
(4)Rikki C.
My bestie and I ate here a few days ago and we got a lot of food. The crab ragoon was the best I've had in a long time. Lots of real crab with phili. cheese and not greasy. The beef was tender and we got fortune cookies- score! All the food WAS flavorfull except the wonton soup, which was a bit of a disappointment. Aside from that this is my new favorite chinese place in the area. Quick tip: the place is very small with limited seating. On a busy day, you will easily sit next to strangers close enough to slap them with your chop sticks.
(5)Danny S.
Great food but the kitchen is hidden and I have seen a cockroach run across the floor :/ food taste good if you want a vegetarian option for Chinese. They should invest more in cleanliness though...
(3)Christopher G.
*Review based on Smoothies only* Drink: 3/5 The Green Tea was good. The Lychee was okay. I'm not the biggest Lychee fan though, so to each their own. They have a decent selection of flavors. Service: 4/5 There was a woman and man behind the counter when we walked in. The man (husband?) was sitting there watching YouTube videos while the woman (wife?) waited on our drink order. Not the most professional atmosphere. The woman engaged with us in playful banter over the correct pronunciation of the word "Lychee." Price: $-$$ Costs about $9.50 for 2 drinks. Overall: 3/5 There are a million places exactly like this that serve bubble tea. It was neither better or worse than the rest. Middle of the road bubble tea. I would much rather have a chain like Joyee's. It just seems to taste better.
(3)gennifer g.
I recently revisited yummy yummy and had a much better food quality experience. I stuck with tofu on the general tao. However, I did order the vegan bbq seitan appetizer and it was great. I also tried tapioca for the first time in a pineapple smoothies at the recommendation of the waitress. Service quality definitly needs a patient patron, so just realize if you are in a hurry carryout is probably a better option.
(4)Christina M.
I moved to the neighborhood and gave this place another shot -- I have returned several times since. So glad I gave Yummy Yummy another chance because I am now obsessed with their bean curd in garlic sauce...it's so good. I recommend ordering carry out, as the location is small and nothing exciting. Best vegan Chinese in the city!
(5)Hannah D.
A great delivery Chinese place! I ordered Chinese food here earlier today and the service was very fast, the food was very good, and the portions were huge. The delivery price is cheap (I think it is for $2, a lot of places are more) and the man who came with the food was very nice. Definitely ordering from here again!! Thank you yummy yummy!
(5)Justin S.
Just have had some tea and smoothies here but for the area, the price is very affordable for the quality of food. The shop itself is fairly small and it seems like the two owners and sole workers are husband and wife. They really care about their customers having a good experience, and humorously, were really surprised when my brother and I spoke some Mandarin to them. I guess that doesn't happen all too often with their clientele ha. Regardless, good people and good food.
(5)Ahtian N.
I went here because of all the great reviews. Yes they have real fruit smoothies, except for coconut the flavor, which is the one I got. As for the food, freshness texture and temperature are awesome. Unfortunately flavor was missing from the fried rice, as well as the crispy honey chicken.
(3)Gabe N.
Really unexpected considering the appearance of the place, but the food is amazing! Especially the fried rice. Would highly recommend.
(5)Lulu L.
I enjoy vegan style food. This place is the best. I had vegetarian fried rice, and never missed the meat. I am not against eating meat, but there are plenty of times I want a good vegan dish. I have had their appetizer of eight fried shrimp. They were crunchy on the outside, moist and soft on the inside. I had all but given up on good Chinese food, but this place will be my go to place for Chinese food. I had vegan won ton soup and will never order any other kind of won ton soup. It was delicate, and really good. I have had their fresh mixed fresh fruit. It was always fresh, but one time I ordered it was not fully ripe and I did not like that, and hope they will be consistent with this item. All in all I still give it a five because the food was delicious, and plentiful. To be truthful it took me, two days to eat all of the fried rice, and it was just as delicious the next day. They say the wait time can be up to one and a half hours. They are in much demand. I have not had to wait that long, so far.
(5)Veggie G.
Very misleading restaurant! The sign and menu says "Vegetarian Health Food." But only PART of their menu is vegetarian. They fed a vegetarian in our party real chicken. The dine-in ambience is uncomfortable. The bathroom is thru the kitchen which is a very insanitary design. Skip this place!
(1)Asenath N.
Stopped here after work for take out. The service was pretty fast, everything was ready for pick up when I got there. Everything was reasonably priced. The food was just ok. It was nothing special.
(3)Yabi C.
Yummy Yummy. Amazing taro coconut bubble tea and sizzling chicken soup. But from Earth's point of view: positives: they serve their to dine-in customers with washable silverware and plates. like a normal restaurant. negatives: Most of Yummy Yummy's business is take-out and all of their take-out containers are not biodegradable/compostable. Yummy Yummy serves dine-in bubble teas in 24 oz. plastic to-go cups and the shop does not offer a recycling bin for that waste. Please consider serving your dine-in customers their bubble tea in real glass cups instead of disposable plastic. Also look into compostable and biodegradable plant-based options for your carry out containers! The neighborhood and the environment would be pleased!
(1)Robert G.
It was hot. I had a taste for bubble tea, and a half hour to burn. So Yummy Yummy it was for me. I picked up a mango and lychee bubble tea. I also only had a credit card, so fortunately for me they waived the $6 minimum credit card fee. The bubble tea was quite good, and refreshing to boot. The lychees are out of a can (although to be honest, I can't tell the difference between canned and fresh lychee). The mango, though, was fresh. So I got a great sour-sweet bubble tea for only about $4.50. Not sure when I'll be in the area again, but I would try other things on the menu.

This is for the former fans of Yens looking for a new go-to Chinese place. This is it. Ordered for the first time last night (Friday) around 5:30. It's not far from us (and Yens) and they have a ridiculous number of vegetarian options-seriously, you've never seen a menu like this before. We had crab rangoon (great flavor, thicker shell, flatter shape), scallion pancake (kinda blah-I'd skip it), shrimp lo mein (light on veggies, not much sauce, but noodles had excellent texture and shrimp was super fresh and I loved it), eggplant in spicy garlic sauce (tons of fresh veggies, sauce not TOO sweet) and special chili chicken (crunchy bits of goodness, no sauce at all, but delicious white meat chicken in a super flavorful coating). Phone ordering was straightforward and food came in the time promised (45 min) and beautifully packaged. We also got a lychee bubble tea freeze, which softened a bit during delivery, but froze right back up in the freezer while we ate and it was perfect after dinner. So, this is my new go-to place and I'm super excited about it. I'm ready to order again. Check it out. And enjoy.

SERVICE: Terrible. Called to check to make sure they'd received the online order after the confirmation email had said "ASAP" for delivery time and an hour and a half had passed. The lady asked me to hold while she checked four times asking for my address each time yet you could hear her in the background answering other phone lines and giving them updates. Finally she came back on, asked for the address again and said "We'll deliver it soon, thanks bye" then hung up. FOOD: Mediocre at best. After over 2 1/2 hours of waiting it finally arrived. It's a good thing I'd pretty much lost my appetite at this point because it was a major let down. The egg rolls were amazing, but that's where the buck stopped. We ordered the General Tao's Chicken and the Szechuan Beef with String Beans. Not the best, but not the worst. All in all, there's plenty of other options in the neighborhood that I'll be trying before I order anything other than the egg rolls from here again.

Suprised with all the positive reviews.. The seitan dishes are flavorless and overpriced.. The spicy basil rice was soggy and flavorless Sesame seitan balls were sweet lacking any flavor

Always great to get lunch or dinner from Yummy Yummy! I've worked and/or lived relatively close for 8 years and it is my go-to for General Tso Chicken and miso soup. I've turned several friends and family members into fans as well.

What a disappointing meal! After looking at how many people enjoyed this place we gave it a shot. The worst mistake we have made in some time!
(1)Kelsea D.
I always stop in for bubble tea, but there's usually only 2 people working so sometimes it can take a while but the prices are decent. The mango bubble tea and green tea bubble tea are my favorites

I rarely take the time to write a review, but it looks like tonight will be a first. I see three other reviews tonight about the poor delivery service and I'm here to write another. 2 hours for delivery and the food was cold. Told me they would give it to me for half price but I'll be calling tomorrow asking for a refund. I just can't stand when they say "we are almost there" three times in an hour. Just tell me you are way behind and ask me if I want to wait. I'm hot hungry at 11PM...just tired.

Best fruit smoothies!! It can be hard to find a place that makes tasty fruit smoothies without milk and if you are allergic to dairy like me this is the place to go! They are so good and they have a ton of fruits to chose from! Also the food is good and tasty but my main thing are the smoothies with tapioca... I didn't like tapioca before this place but, they converted me !!
(5)Sharada D.
I haven't had the food here, but the bubble tea smoothies are good! The mango/lychee is delicious, and so is avocado.
(3)Audriana V.
Yummy Yummy is amazing! Tosn of vegetarian options, but they also have a full menu of regular Chinese food options. I go all the time for smoothies which are wonderful. This place is an old favorite, I crave it all the time!
(5)Rob K.
They use MSG in a number of the items on their vegetarian menu items. Shame on them. We went home with MSG headaches and more. Too bad because the food is tasty. Vegetarians want healthy food. When ordering from a vegetarian menu one should not have to instruct them not to include MSG. The person who confirmed my fears that there was MSG in the food said it is in the soy sauce. It is easy to get soy sauce without MSG, and that is what they should do
(1)Daniel S.
Really enjoyed this place, i got the shrimp and chicken pad thai, it was really big and tasted great, the egg roll was really good too, and the smoothie was excellent as well, i will definitely go back, it's right near the landmark century, good prices too
(5)Lauren L.
It's just okay. I ordered the sesame chicken, roasted pork lo mien and Vietnamese springrolls. The roasted pork had good flavor but the lo mien on the whole wasn't fabulous. I like lo mien with a generous coating of soy sauce based sauce. These noodles were naked, no sauce. It also was lacking in vegetables. There were just a few onions, snap peas and hints of bean sprouts. The Vietnamese springrolls were weird. They lived up to the bad reviews I read on Yelp before I tried the place. The roll was loose and the contents was the wrong consistency. It was like mush, couldn't tell what was pork and what was vermicelli. I'm relatively new to Chicago, been here a little over a year. I've been looking for good Chinese and have tried a few places that weren't great. I'm adding Yummy Yummy to that list.
(2)Shannon D.
We must order from them at least once a week! Always happy with the service and everything we've gotten tastes great!! One time they gave us the wrong sauce for our potstickers in our delivery and drove all the way back to give us the right sauce- which made us so happy because its our favorite! We will always order from them!

((ring, ring)) Hello? Yummy, Yummy! ((smile)) This has to be one of the best restaurant names. Well, best since it has good food; it would have been a major letdown if the food was crappy, crappy. I couldn't help break into a smile both times I heard "yummy, yummy" being shouted into my intercom. Having heard lots of good things about YY, I decided to give it a shot. House of Hunan is my go to Chinese spot, but it's nice to have choices. I love YY's online ordering; not only do I know I have the most up-to-date menu and prices, but I don't have to worry about miscommunications when customizing a dish. I loved the most ordered items part of the menu, very handy for those times when you're looking to play it safe. The menu also had a large vegetarian section. I ordered from here twice within a week. My first order was crab rangoon and Shrimp & Broccoli with Garlic Sauce. The crab rangoon was good. I'd prefer it were a bit lighter on the cream cheese and heavier on the fake crab, but I would definitely order it again. I enjoyed the sweet and sour sauce that accompanied it - way better than the S&S sauce packets you tend to get. The shrimp dish was pretty good; the garlic sauce had a nice kick to it and the veggies were nice and fresh. The only downside of that meal was that the shrimp were mushy. My second order consisted of shrimp spring rolls and Shrimp Szechuan. My roommate and I split the spring rolls and while huge, we both found them a bit bland and it's unlikely I'd reorder them. I chose the shrimp szechuan as I gravitate toward spicier items. The little chili pepper next to shrimp szechuan on the menu failed me; the dish was good, but spicy it was not. This time my shrimp were done perfectly and accompanied by plenty of fresh peppers, carrots, watercress and other veggies. Maybe if I hadn't been expecting spice, I would've liked it more. I would definitely order from here again. In addition to reasonable prices and prompt delivery, the portions are generous. Both times I stretched my order into two hearty meals. The mains come in plastic containers, which meant no spills and easy reheating - yay.
(4)Fiona H.
Basil chicken and sesame beef are my favorite dishes, but what's got me addicted are the bubble teas. The ingredients are always fresh (e.g. fresh mushrooms not canned) and the service is super fast. I get take out or delivery 90% of the time, the place just really isn't built for an dine-in experience.
(5)Emmy G.
The best coconut smoothie I've ever tasted. Everything I've ordered here has always been delicious!
(5)Vesuvi T.
I enjoyed the dry-rub chili chicken. I also like that they offered a brown rice option. I'm sure I'll return for more... and I might even take advantage of their delivery.
(4)gookgette c.
Their food tastes really fresh and clean for a Chinese restaurant. You don't feel greasy and gross afterwards. I got the General Tso's. Sauce was on point!
(4)Jesus G.
Veg menu is one of the best and they have separate kitchens for cooking meat and for strictly veg. Food is excellent as is service but be aware that the space is small in case you're bringing a large group
(5)s b.
I used to walk by this place all of the time and never though of stopping in because, well, quite honestly, it looked sketchy! It's a tiny space, so it's not really a great dine-in option. However, when I was trying to decide on a place to order pickup from, I noticed this place had great reviews and tried it. Once I did, it was my go-to Chinese food place. The egg rolls are some of the best (I hate when restaurants mess those up), there are tons of delicious options for the entrees, and you can even stop in when you're thirsty just for a delicious bubble tea/smoothie. Upon noticing on yelp that people loved the vegetarian options they had, I actually tried those too, and the boyfriend and I actually enjoyed the sweet and sour soy gluten more than any of the meat dishes we had ever gotten -- delicious! Their phone is always ringing off the hook, so they must be doing something right. (In fact once, they were so busy when I called that I actually gave up at being on hold and called for dinner elsewhere. The woman called me back to get my order...apologizing for the delay.)
(5)B-eezy N.
Got off work a little early and was in the mood for orange chicken. After walking a few blocks down the street from work. I happened upon Yummy Yummy. Their quiet reserved atmosphere was what attracted me to them. Then, I tasted their food, smoothie included. WOW!! Its like finding a hidden gem. They don't need to promote how good their vegetarian and non-vegetarian foods are, because with one bite, you're hooked! Super affordable. Very clean and laid back atmosphere. I loved how they had a Chinese tv show playing while I dined. Immersing their patrons in their eastern culture definitely added to the experience. Truly a "Yummy Yummy" experience!
(5)Lauren L.
I have enjoyed Yummy Yummy for its convenience, relative quickness, and all around good Chinese Food. They have great Won Ton Soup & the egg rolls are also well prepared. Nothing particularly special on the menu, it is your run-of-the-mill Chinese food, but definitely conquers a craving when need be.
(4)James C.
This is only for the bubble tea - DELICIOUS!!!! Best I've ever had and I've basically hit every single bubble tea place from south Missouri to here. I got the watermelon bubble tea and it was perfect. And the tapioca balls were the perfect consistency and tasted so sweet and awesome.
(5)Miriam B.
What a nice hidden gem of a restaurant. I had a velvet corn soup, an egg roll and a large portion of general tsao's chicken for only. 6.00. The quality of the food is very fresh. I had enough food for 2 people plus leftovers. The crab Rangoon is to die for. They also make an amazing pineapple coconut bubble tea. Yummy lives up to It's name.

Whatever you want or miss from being vegan that is at a Chinese place, they have it. Hands down, in my top 3 vegan places in Chicago. Pretty much anything you get off the vegan menu is amazing. But make sure you specify vegan for many items because sometimes they have a real meat equivalent. My favorites: Mongolian Seitan - this usually must always be ordered from someone I'm with. It is so good! It's made with seitan (obviously), and has a sweet sauce to it, they must fry it because sometimes the seitan can be a little crunchy on the outside. There can be a lot of green onions sometimes, but you can always order without it, and it comes on a bed of white fluffy rice things that look like styrofoam? I'm not sure what they are actually called. Other asian places will use it too. Pan Fried Schezwan Tofu - so good! cheaper than the other fake meat items on the menu, but the tofu is fried to a crispy outside, and the sauce is amazing! Other items with this sauce like the Wonton's with Schezwan Sauce are also amazing! Hot and Sour Soup - yes, vegan, hot. and. sour. soup. it's amazingly cheap at under $4 and a portion sized for 2. This is what you need when you feel sick. It will definitely get you moving again. Veggie Wonton Soup - this used to be my go to soup before I switched over to the hot and sour soup. I still get it too, where else are you going to get amazing vegan wonton soup in Chicago? Sweet and Sour Soy Gluten - Delicious once again! Sweet and sour sauce with fake meat. They are a little crunchy little balls of gluten covered with sweet and sour sauce. General Tao's Soy Gluten or Soy Protein - They like to say the soy protein is like shrimp and the soy gluten is like chicken. They are definitely very different tasting, and I can see where they are going with that comparison, either way you have your choice. I personally lean more towards the gluten, but many other friends lean towards the protein. It's just a personal preference. Now, because there are just so many amazing things on their menu, I don't feel like I should continue down the line on all the things I've eaten there, because I'm pretty sure I have eaten about 95% of the vegan menu at one point or another and the menu is big enough. The things above are my highlights. They have many, many options. Noodles, rice, soups, appetizers, etc. Not to mention smoothies! I almost forgot the smoothies! They are great! They have 4 different types of fake meats: seitan, soy gluten, soy protein, and wheat gluten. They aren't just limited to chinese items, although that is their main focus. They do have some korean, thai, singapore, and japanese things on the menu as well. They also have lunch specials during the week that have some of the vegan items on it. That is a great deal! Soup, "egg" roll, and meal for usually under $7. You can't beat that! All my positives greatly outweigh any negatives, but I'm going to let you know what's not so great. It is a small place, and as such at times when there are a lot of people, you may not all be able to fit, but you can call ahead. And the bathroom is through the kitchen... I always am afraid I may touch something on accident as it is a tight space. But both those things are nothing compared to how good the vegan food is. And the staff/owner is so amazingly nice and helpful, more people need to go here more often.
(5)Brandon T.
Despite the name, this place is pretty good? The wonton soup was above average, and every thing else was up to par. Would i recommend it? - No. In fact i had trouble remembering I ate here about a month ago. Thankfully the name reminded me that I had ordered from here, and remember being shocked that "it didn't suck".
(3)Y. W.
Me and a friend wanted to try Crisp, but they were packed and nowhere to sit so we walked across the street to Yummy Yummy. I wasn't sure I'd like it, but they live up to their name. I had the orange chicken lunch special. It was delicious. Decent sized portions and fairly priced. My friend had the beef and broccoli and that was also tasty. This place is very small inside, but the staff was friendly and attentive. We were the only two eating there, though. I will have to go back one day.
(5)Mandi G.
Yummy Yummy is not my "go-to" Chinese delivery spot. That title goes to Yen's. However, Yen's does not do fruit smoothies. This is where Yummy Yummy comes in. I began my YY ordering this past summer aka one of the hottest summers in recent history. There would be days where I just couldn't imagine eating anything but YY's cold sesame noodles and a fruit smoothie- strawberry/pineapple being my favorite. Now that it is winter and I have my first cold of the season, all I want is YY's hot & sour soup and a fruit smoothie. I promise, the spice factor on the soup clears out all of your sinuses and the smoothie soothes the sorest of throats. And although YY's smoothies are better than the majority of their food, the hot & sour soup is some of the best in town. Also, delivery is generally fast and phone service good. If their food was as good as Yen's, this would be a 5 star foodgasm. But it's not. So 3 stars it is, but I will continue to be a loyal customer whenever I am feeling under the weather or it is over 90 degrees outside.
(3)Freddie L.
A great little cozy Chinese restaurant that serves up some of the best vegetarian Chinese food in Lakeview. Fresh, tasty and plentiful. Yummy Yummy definitely lives up to its name! Great place for take out.
(4)Winston G.
4 stars for effort. 2 stars for the actual product. Wanted a hot taro bubble tea, which they didn't have on the menu. They said they would make it, and attempted to make it, which I commend them for. However, it just didn't taste good at all - watered down with very little taro flavor and just generally a fail. Also, the boba balls here are not good at all. Not flavored and tastes just like the water they boiled them in - which isn't very good at all. A bit of a metallic flavor. Not sure how the Chinese food here is, but of course, please limit your interpretation of this review to the boba here only.
(3)Michael E.
Great drink selection, definitely a place to check out for bubble tea if you are looking for a healthy sweet treat
(4)Keith B.
Not too shabby. Reasonably priced and pretty delicious. O and if you like crab rangoons then you have to try theirs.

I LOVE yummy yummy's food. I've ordered delivery 4-5 times and can't get enough of their vegan/vegetarian options...this is where it goes downhill... HOWEVER I placed an order online 20 mins ago, and someone just called me to say "Hi yeah, we can't take your order. we're really busy and you're farther away than the other orders. so we can't make you food. ok. maybe you can order another time, but we're busy now. ok bye." Deliver generally takes about an hour - a little annoying but ok, you're really delicious, obviously you're popular and busy. I can wait. But to see that other people have continually had problems getting their food in 2 hrs and then to be told 20 minutes after ordering "no, sorry, we're too busy" just makes me think they really need to consider some changes. I love their food but personally I'd rather order from somewhere I know I'll actually get food from rather than roll the dice by ordering then SURPRISE! be told later its not coming. I know there are much larger problems in the world than choosing another restaurant, but guys, this is the one thing you set out to do...do it well. Maybe find another location with a bigger kitchen - if you're doing SO much business you have to turn customers away...invest back into the restaurant to upgrade the capabilities...?
(2)Jennifer R.
If you want good, vegetarian, Chinese food this is your place. The Szechuan Dumplings are great and the dipping sauce is amazing. I love their Mongolian Seitan with brown rice (extra charge). The Szechuan Broccoli is great too. Kung Pao Tofu is delicious. The Vegetable Fried Rice is always good. Their bubble teas are awesome as well (coconut with tapioca rules!) I've also tried the Orange Soy Gluten, as well as the Lemon. They were okay. The soy gluten was "airy" and a bit chewy. The joint is quaint and clean. They have a t.v. that's usually tuned to some Asian language channel, which I enjoy even though I don't understand. The cashier/hostess/bubble-tea-maker is SO nice & friendly. I really like this place!
(4)Lisa T.
Terribly disappointed. To be clear - Yummy Yummy is some of the better Chinese food in LP/Lakeview area; however, tonight they made me wait over 2 hours for delivery and lied to me the entire time. I called to check after 1 hour and they said 30 minutes more at most. I called again after 1 hr 30 min and they said the driver was en route. Nothing showed up for 40 more minutes. This is RIDICULOUS and HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I don't care how good your food is; 2 hours for delivery is unacceptable and lying to me is unforgivable. Never again, Yummy Yummy. Asian food is a dime a dozen in this town, I'm happy to go somewhere else.

So my GF and I moved from California to Chicago hoping there would be a diverse population in the city. Come to find out Chicago is one of the most segregated cities in the nation. We found the restaurant through yelp and decided to give it a try, knowing that there's nothing compare to California food. First of all, these mothafukas rip you off. Charge $13 plus for a some meat and mostly vegetables. California has cheap Asian food, I'm guessing because it has a diverse and huge Asian population with numerous amount of Asian restaurants, so competition lowers prices. My GF who is Asian couldn't believe these prices they charge too much. The food is good but not worth the price, typical Chinese food cost about $8 a plate and last for 2 days.
(3)Patti G.
If you love Chinese food, and also seek vegetarian fare, I highly recommend Yummy Yummy. Here you can find all the same dishes, and some excellent unique one, too. My favorite is the crispy tofu, which comes with a great red sauce (if you order it to go, the sauce is in a separate container, keeping the tofu crispy). The coating is micro-thin and tasty, and that sauce... My other favorite is the cashew soy gluten. The vegetables are fresh and perfectly cooked, and the soy gluten looks and tastes like dark-meat chicken. I suspect there isn't a bad dish, and whenever I am there, the phone rings constantly, and it's usually busy, both signs of a great place. The best part is they have a full menu with meat, all the usual options, for your meat eating friends.
(5)Bob G.
Pad Thai was oily had fish sauce in it and below avg. in flavor. The vegetable lo mein was aldente and oily. The vegetarian wontons were ok. But we ate it all... Even though it was below avg it was good. Both dishes lacked seasoning.
(3)Dick G.
Have been eating here regularly since it was the Szechuan Garden many years ago. In my opinion it's the best Chinese food in East Lakeview. My personal favorites are the house special Cumin Beef (hot!) and the Moo Shu Pork, but in truth it's all good. I agree the name is weird and my friends look at me funny when I recommend it--but the food is well worth the occasional snicker. Service is great and after you've been here a few times they recognize you and make suggestions. You can't miss at Yummy Yummy.
(5)Sneha P.
Tried the vegetarian Singapore noodles and the sesame soy. Good combination of authentic spices, though they possibly overdid the turmeric in the noodles. I'd try the meat next time. We got delivery, and my main issue is that the guy couldn't understand me at all. Next time I'm making a friend order.
(4)Matthew D.
Soo good
(5)Kathy C.
Moo shu [enter choice of meat here] is really good. The bubble tea is made with real fruit (try the taro). The place is SUPER tiny with only about 5-6ish tables.
(4)Izzy N.
Ok no. I take everything back. This place is dead to me. I asked for NO bean sprouts twice and what happens? Bean sprouts are present. Oh hell to the noo noo nooooo! Buy yourself a new set of ears since the ones on your head aren't working cuz I said NO bean sprouts. I hate when this happens. Wasted my damn breath emphasing it.. btw their hot and sour soup is borderline gloppy from corn starch. It's pretty thick. I can't believe people tolerate this and think it's fantastic.
(1)Anthony P.
Have had takeout from here a few times since it's so close. They have decent lunch specials, which include the soup of the day. This is great variety for someone like me, who orders the same thing all the time. The food is pretty average. Have had great customer service so far.
(3)Amanda C.
I'm not a big Chinese takeout person but Yummy Yummy was a great choice recently. We ordered Kung Pao shrimp, Garlic Chicken, and Sweet and Sour chicken. Everything was good (although the s/s chicken comes with sauce on the side) and the egg rolls were probably the best I've had so far. Delivery was quick and prices were reasonable, would definitely choose them again. Another bonus: their fortune cookies contained actual fortunes, rather than just statements that are useless.
(4)Liz M.
I love this place! Delivery is fast and the food is piping hot. The orange chicken is like crack!
(5)FM G.
Their vegetarian wonton soup is the most satisfying soup a vegetarian can have. They have an extensive vegetarian menu, but after a year i am still trying to decide on my favorite menu item. When it comes to delivery for some reason they only buzz from downstairs and I still need to walk out of my apartment to get my food. Not true delivery in my book!
(3)Ash T.
I wish they would have told us it would take three hours for delivery when we placed our order! Also, when I called, I was hung up on.
(1)Kedar D.
Since my last visit was on Christmas, I thought I'd come back on a less hectic day. I had a lunch special here when it was practically empty. The "empress soy protein" was decent, but a bit gooey. However the lunch special is an excellent value at only $6 and gives you a plate of food, a cup of miso soup and also an egg roll. (I also got some brown rice, which cost an extra $1.50; that's a steep price considering the whole meal was only $6.) I'm amazed that a city as large as Chicago has no really good vegan Chinese options. Yummy Yummy is one of the only Asian places in the city that offers mockmeats, and they're not really mockmeats---just TVP or wheat gluten, which is like mockmeat from the 1980s. I wouldn't go out of my way to try Yummy Yummy, but I'd probably stop by here if nothing else were available.
(3)Tyler W.
My go-to place for that Asian fix. Love the food, great prices, quick and simple with a lot of vegetarian options to choose from! Been there several times and will continue to go back.
(5)Jul N.
Did carry-out around 10 p.m. on a week day: shrimp pad thai, general tao's soy gluten, and crab rangoons. The pad thai was very good. I liked the general tao's soy gluten (cooked as lightly battered and fried balls of chewy soy/wheat combo gluten), but I can see why some wouldn't care for the texture. Also, the sauce doesn't reheat super well. Waited somewhat long when I did walk-in but the staff is very friendly and I'm overall very happy with my experience! Solid Chinese-Asian fare with sizable portions and reliable service.
(4)Joseph F.
Definitely some of the better Chinese in the neighbourhood. My go-to. I've not had a bad order yet.
(4)Rachel W.
Love love love this place. I have tried at least 6 different Asian caterers for the crew, and finally found the most delicious place. They are super vegetarian friendly, which is awesome. Their vegetarian dishes were full of flavor and fab. I got the mu shu veggie, and it was INSANE. They pre-wrap all the pancakes, which was lovely, as I can never seem to burrito-wrap anything so that it stays together for more than a bite. The veggies were perfectly cooked, flavorful, and delicious. The sesame chicken was to die for. So was the cantonese chicken w/pan-fried noodles. We also got the teriyaki beef, which was a hit as well. Super friendly, easy to work with, and the owner tried to give me a discount, on top of them already being super reasonable. Can't wait to cater them in again.
(5)Rachel U.
Really how could you go wrong with a name like that. The dining room seats maybe a dozen people, and it's nothing fancy so adjust your expectations accordingly and you won't be disappointed. I loved their vegetarian menu; the wonton soup was delicious and I had trouble sharing it with the other people who'd ordered it as well. Entrees were standard 'fast food' chinese fare, and it gets really noisy any time they make a smoothie, but they're also tasty so just order one =P Portions are huge, which would be cool if I lived here because I could probably eat for several days on one entree. But if you're just visiting like us, and don't want your hotel mini-fridge to smell like chinese food, order with care.
(3)Brad L.
Decent Chinese food, but for my money I think I'll go for one of the many delicious Thai places in the area before returning here. I ordered General Tao's Chicken and asked for extra spicy and an order of crab rangoon. I had it delivered and it took 15 minutes longer than their quote which wasn't a big deal because the food was hot (rangoon was still crispy and actually too had to cool it off before eating it) and the chicken was steaming hot as well. As for the quality of the food, the General's chicken was a bit bland for my taste even though I had requested it extra spicy. The sauce was exceedingly average and lacking the flavor I had expected. The one good thing about the dish was that the chicken was not overly breaded like many Chinese restaurants do it. There were large chunks of lightly breaded quality white meat. The crab rangoon was above average, good sized, full of cream cheese and there was even a bit of crab in there! Decent value at 6 for $4.50. If you like Chinese, give it a try, perhaps their other dishes are tastier than what the General's cookin'. I hate to write a review based on one dish, especially when they have such an expansive menu, but I don't think I'll be back to try anything else :(
(3)Jayson B.
I go here for the fresh smoothies. (recommended) I've had the fried rice as well, which is good!
(4)Matt A.
I must say that this is some of the best Chinese food I have had in the city; it's great that they offer so many different options. Generally I enjoy going to this place to dine rather than doing delivery because it can be a great casual BYOB experience. When it comes to Chinese, I generally stick with the same dish every time. However, with this place I tend to choose something different every time and I am always impressed. One last thought: the crab rangoon is amazing!
(5)Yumm y.
The sizzling rice with soy gluten soup is off the chain! Huge portion for the price and chock full of veggies, protein and a soothing delicious broth. I usually get this with some sort of appetizer. Yum! The family that runs the restaurant is really wonderful--- nice, nice people who go out of their way for their patrons.
(5)Heather D.
I kept ordering from here because I wanted it to be good, soooo badly. As a vegetarian it is so exciting to have vegetarian options and yummy yummy has them. The problem is that they are not very good. The Sesame seitan, chewy and overly sweet. Veggie fried rice, too oily. Mongolian Seitan, all onions and way too salty. I have ordered from here more than a handful of times and I think I just have to give up. It is pretty expensive too.$50 for two entrees and an appetizer. What a shame.. My quest for delicious vegetarian Chinese food continues.
(2)Jemillex B.
they got the best asian cuisine.
(5)Damian C.
I admit it - every time I walk past this place I have to chuckle at the name. It reminds me of something a child would come up with or something I would come up with if I were on some sort of substance. So I finally tried it last night and learned just how "yummy yummy" it is. I got the orange chicken with peapods. White meat, the perfect amount of sauce, huge pieces - and just the perfect amount of spicyness. The meal itself was HUGE too and could easily have been at least two meals (or a meal and a half for members of the Big Eaters Club). I, on the other hand, was on a mission to finish everything. My overindulgence gave me a stomachache because I just couldn't. stop. eating. Even after I was done I dove into my friends sesame chicken which was equally as good. I'll go out on a limb here and say it's the best Asian that I've had in a long time and quite possibly the best in the area. The shop itself is cute, too, with bright green walls and yellow accents.

This place is amazing! Their smoothies are to die for. I probably have had half their flavors and the only one I didn't like was the coconut - (just too sweet). They use fresh fruit and a tiny bit of sugar water. Don't forget to add the tapioca either, that's the best part.

I'm skeptical of any place that calls itself "yummy yummy". Was I right in judging a book by its cover? I sure was. Ordered chinese food delivery last night. Chicken fried rice, spring rolls, and steamed chicken potstickers. Pros: It's fast. Normally delivery takes about a good 45 minutes at least. This took abut 30 minutes. It's cheap. Prices are decent. Location is nearby. Cons: QUALITY of food. You can taste the massive amounts of grease on the fried rice. Can we get a little more chicken please? WAY too many onions. How about add more veggies like carrots and peas? I think I saw 2 carrots. My boyfriend and I ate one potsticker each...at that point, he offered me another and I declined. He was going to eat another, but decided it wasn't worth it. It is very unlike him to turn down food, so it definitely says something about the quality right there. He had the spring rolls. There was maybe one piece of shrimp in each and it was mainly green salad oozing out. I'm fairly sure there was a good amount of MSG in there. I got a bad headache later that night and my boyfriend and I both had stomach aches. We didn't even finish half of our food. It was highly disappointing to find that this place has 4/5 stars on here. I don't get it. Yelpers, do you not know your chinese food?

SO GOOD! Quick delivery, food comes extra hot, everything tastes amazing. I order all the time now. Best chinese food I've had, if you ask me! Great prices. Really impressed with this place. Hope they dont let me down!

So I was looking for a place that: 1. Catered to my two vegetarian friends 2. Reasonably priced 3. In proximity of Lakeshore theater And I was able to meet those criterion at Yummy Yummy. I think the real highlight of the menu are the gluten dishes. They have a broad menu but I would stick to the chinese cuisine here. The sesame soy gluten was so-so (I don't think I could give sesame chicken for this particular dish), but the gluten in garlic sauce was excellent.

My lil bro, my mom and I ventured out to this little place after a long day at Lincoln Park Zoo. We were thirsty after walking for hours and didn't want to eat at the zoo because well....that's kind of not appetizing... So we walked here and got some bubble tea: thai iced tea-have had better, but pretty good not bad taro-like it mango-LOVE it! actually tastes like the mangos you use to make it, but can't beat joy yees bubble tea def. up to par with joy yees tho! oh and the boba=perfect consistency!

I discovered that YYAC delivers ALL THE WAY TO WICKER PARK. I have not been impressed by the availability of good asian food (non-sushi) in Wicker Park so I thank YYAC for delivering. Tiny drawback: Takes a while to get the food delivered, but i think its worth it. Nothing I haven't said about YYAC's food. I especially love the fish, tofu and vegetarian selection. Here's another tip: DO NOT go to YYAC on a DATE! What the hell, man.. Lincoln Park and Lakeview is not short of restaurants, surely? If you insist, make it a takeout date and cozy up with a movie and some bubble tea. I love the online ordering, the phone ordering. They remember my name, my order and my address. Why would I get chinese delivery anywhere else.
(4)Michelle L.
It wasn't bad but unfortunately I did not think it was as good as everyone else says. I ordered the orange chicken and it was nothing special-I was hoping for better quality chicken based off what everyone else wrote. Like I said though it definitly was not bad just didn't live up to expectation. My boyfriend got the Garlic chicken he liked it and said it was pretty spicy. We also got chicken fried rice which was also good but not great. Delivery took average amount of time and so overall I think the place was very average and will not be going there again.

I'm a huge fan of China Town because of all of the authentic restaurants in the area, however, heading down there isn't really convenient. The problem is that I always find myself having these "pregnant lady" cravings for the food. I was drawn into this place as I was walking down Broadway and saw that they had a variety of bubble tea flavors...when I say variety, I mean that a decent portion of the menu was dedicated to their warm teas and bubble teas. So most of the food here is Chinese but lately they have been incorporating some Taiwanese dishes. If your in the mood for soup I would recommend their Hot and Sour or their Chicken and corn soup (always get this in China Town, *add lots of powdered pepper). If your a fan of eggplant, I would highly recommend the eggplant in garlic sauce, (word of warning, it's a large portion)... The Shang Hai BokChoy is a really good veggie option and if your into noodles I would recommend one of their lo meins... When it comes to bubble teas, your on your own, it takes me 30 minutes to decide on a bubble tea flavor so I hope your taste buds give you better guidance than mine. Enjoy!

Did I just find something INCREDIBLE? I feel like Columbus after discovering America--I feel so overwhelmed by the badassness Yummy Yummy has to offer. I've been to this place PLENTY of times and as you can see from my previous rating, I fell in love at first sight. But I didn't know I could fall in love the 2nd time.... TO THE SAME RESTAURANT! One Friday afternoon, I had the most wickedly brilliant idea. Let's order a Lunch Special at Yummy yummy! I heard they were cheaper than the normal prices, said my boyfriend. Sweet, let's do it! I replied. So my boyfriend got the Mongolian Beef and I got the Chicken Broccoli and an extra miso soup. Thanks to my epic fail of reading skills, when we got the food, my boyfriend and I found out that we get free soup and some rolls with the Lunch Special anyway. SUH-WEET! Now on to the tasting... Let's be for-real now. When I eat, I usually indulge and finish on 1 entree item at a time. My mind goes from "Okay, Food #1 is done, let's move on to Food #2." and so on ............ Well, my taste buds were freaking out that afternoon for some reason and decided to half-eat every single food item on the table BECAUSE IT WAS SO GOOD! First I tasted the free soup we got, DELICIOUS! Second, I tasted the miso soup, EVEN BETTER! Third, I tasted the Chicken Broccoli, AMAZING! My priority list to eat things could not have been more messed up. I wanted to eat all of them at once. But I couldn't....... And so, I ended up being full with eating half of my free soup, miso soup, and Chicken Broccoli. At least I have theee best left overs ever. Thank you Yummy Yummy for making me feel so incredible and confused at the same time.

Awesome ! Just great vegetarian asian food :)

I never know how to review these sorts of Asian restaurants. My parents are notoriously insistent upon finding a place that's consistent with their expectations of authenticity. The traditional ordering style, of course, is to get many many dishes and split them among a big happy table. So when I come to a place like this I'm stunned. How do I only order *one* thing? I ended up getting a soup and an order of pot-stickers to satisfy my need for variety. They do apparently have an extensive vegetarian menu, which is good. They also offer a large selection of well-done bubble teas. The restaurant is tiny, with maybe six to eight tables. There's a large flat screen TV in the back that was on a Chinese channel last time I went. Probably a good option for take-out, but dining in is just so-so.

The lunch special m-f is awesome and you get a good amount of food. their broccoli soy gluten and vegetarian wonton soup are favorites.
(4)Jennifer T.
I think we just may have found a good Chinese place, Lakeview. Shrimp fried rice as well as their beef dishes are yummy. I wish I liked their egg rolls more. Picky about egg rolls. My husband didn't like their pork fried rice but enjoyed their veggie fried rice. Not greasy and gross at all.
(4)Lujun F.
This review comes from a native Chinese and this is one of the best Americanized Chinese food I've had (e.g., apparently Americanized but still having the essence of Chinese food. KongBao chicken that is not made of KongBao source instead of having peanuts, cucumber, hot pepper mix as it should). Great taste. The smoothy is great too. (Better put the smoothy maker in the kitchen as it is making a lot of noise.)
(4)Sarah Q.
A friend and I came here for a late dinner last Tuesday. The waitress/hostess was very unattentive and almost forgot to send our order in to the kitchen! I had the Singapore Rice Noodle and vegetable egg rolls, and my was I displeased! Perhaps it was the late hour, right before close, or some other factor! Reviews for the food suggested something amazing and I was so eager to try some good food. How disappointing! Maybe I'll go back and try something different, and write a better review later!!

Ordered takeout from Yummy, yummy last night. A pretty typical Wednesday after a long day of work and then a three hour class. The order placed was: fresh spring rolls, a veggie shrimp dish, and honey chicken. There was A LOT of food, enough for two people to have three meals, which rocks if you like leftovers - - - - but I just wasn't enticed, impressed, or interested in the taste. It was okay, but not great - this has been most of my experience with asian cuisine in Chicago - I'm not hatin' - SOMEONE please direct me to good chinese food. Please and thank you. As for yummy, yummy - I probably will not order from there again.
(3)Andrea R.
In California there is an amazing asian restaurant with fake meat, perfect for vegetarians, so we were really excited to try Yummy Yummy after moving to Chicago. Problem is, their gluten protein dishes have the weirdest consistency, not at all like fake meat I've had anywhere else. We've tried it a few times, and I always hope I will come around to it, but I haven't. If you like really chewy consistencies, then you may very well like it. The vegetable moo shoo, however, is excellent. And their boba drinks are really delicious! It's also pricey for the quality of food and ambiance (of which there is none).

THANK YOU, YUMMY YUMMY! Okay. Let me start by saying that I'm a vegetarian and have been since I was 14. My girlfriend, though, eats meat, and we both loooooved our meal here. I'd been out apartment-hunting on an empty stomach, and by 2 o'clock, I could have eaten the hideous linoleum in that "sun porch" on Aldine. Luckily, I'd read about Yummy Yummy on Yelp, so I used the Yelp app to locate the place and away we went. Hot and Sour Soup. It's my favorite food. It's also usually made with chicken broth and pieces of chicken/pork/shrimp/all of the above. Yummy Yummy's vegetarian version was better than the one I make at home and juuuuust the right combo of hot and...well, sour. The crab rangoon was, according to the gf, super delish. The vegetarian potstickers were so convincing that I had to double-check to make sure they weren't really filled with meat. And the soy gluten lo mein had fabulous, just-chewy-enough noodles. We ordered waaaaay too much food, ended up with enough for at least one more meal, and still left having spent under $25. The lime green decor? Yes, it felt like Jamba Juice. NOT a date place, but I can't wait to move to the 'hood so I can get this place delivered! I might go back this week just for a lunch special and to try a boba drink...not that I'm obsessed or anything...
(5)Anna C.
sweet and sour soy gluten. i haven't had chicken in a while and my friend bought some sweet and sour chicken the other day and it smelled so good. i couldn't think of a place that would sell sweet and sour anything without meat in it... until i saw sweet and sour soy gluten on their menu. pretty satisfying. and the sauce was great!
(4)Sai Y.
Awesome prices for what you get. Their lunch special portions are huge, a lot more food than what you'd expect for $6. The food is comparable to that of Yen's, its nothing to write home about but its good enough. I think I'll be coming back here pretty soon.
(5)Ken L.
Finally I found my place for chinese food. They have a big menu selection. And they offer vegetarian soy gluten option for the same price too. Not sure if they are more healthy but I sure like the taste. On the other hand, the service is kinda bad especially if you're dining-in. There is normally just one person working outside. The person has to take multiple orders for to-go and delivery AND serve the tables as well. Not sure how many people are working in the kitchen but the wait is almost always long especially during lunch as well. I definitely recommend calling-in for pick-up or delivery.

Yummy Yummy got me out of a bind - It was a blustery Christmas night and I had everything planned to order dinner at Yen's Chinese. I call Yens at 6:00 for a 7:00pm delivery. They dont answer. I call again. Repeat, repeat, repeat. I panic. I find Yummy Yummy on Yelp and their web site says "Open on Christmas". Thank you! Made the same order that I would have done at Yens although I think it cost about $15 more at Yummy Yummy. However, they got me out of a potential disaster so I was willing to spend the money. Normally I wouldn't trust a place with a name like "Yummy Yummy" because, you know what, I will be the judge on whether its yummy yummy. Be more creative! Here is the dish on what we ordered: - Wonton Soup - Chock full of wontons! Like ridiculous. In fact, the wonton to broth ratio isnt accurate. I never in my life thought I would say this, but I need more broth and less wontons. Currently in my fridge I have 6 wontons with no brother. Argh. However, its tasty! - Hot and Sour Soup - Didnt try. People who did seemed to enjoy. - Egg rolls (meat, veggie and spring) - All very good! (However, at Yen's you can get these for free with coupon), The spring roll is HUGE with a rice paper wrapping. - General Tsao's Chicken - Most mediocre thing we ate all night. Didn't taste like much and certainly not the signature taste I was expecting. I would NOT order this again. - Eggplant in Garlic Sauce - Delicious and full of veggies (broccoli, carrots, etc). All drenched in a thick, sugar-y sauce. A great veggie option! - Shrimp Lo Mein - Probably the most tasty in my mind. Lo mein has melt in your mouth with succulent baby shrimp (not enough shrimp, boo). - Pork Fried Rice - Right above the Generals Chicken. Mediocre, but nice to have a rice option. Maybe try another meat? Didn't seem to taste like much. Overall steep cost, some menu items are better than others, food will need a slight re-heating upon its delivery arrival, no chopsticks or noodles with delivery (maybe if you ask?), but meets the need for chinese in Lakeview. Oh, and you can order completely online!

I can't comment on the quality of the food or smoothie right now, because I have diarrhea and I can't think about the food I ate there, lest I vomit again. I have not had food poisoning this bad since over 10 years ago when I was in a third world country with poor hygienic practices. The tip-off here should have been when the waiter was about to set a dirty plate for me, then I saw him going through several plates before finding a clean one for me. I'm not even sure the plate he set down was clean.
(1)Arelys V.
I think a large part of what made me try out Yummy Yummy was how silly the name is. But Yummy Yummy is indeed that...soooooooooooooo yummy! The lady that works the smoothie counter is so sweet and takes care of making sure you get everything you need. The other day I was there a party of 9 walked in and she made sure there was space for them even though the restaurant is tiny. The food is delicious (love their orange chicken, egg rolls, and any of their fried rices) and the smoothies are made fresh right in front of you. No fruit flavoring here because it is all natural. I love Yummy Yummy.
(5)Sinan A.
If I had to describe this place with one sentence it would be: "Chinese restaurant that feels like Jamba Juice". They really have great, freshly-made fruit smoothies for a Pan-Asian restaurant! This is certainly not what we're used to in New England! It's my first time visiting Chicago and I wanted to stear off from the tourist traps filled with deep dish pizzas and unhealthy hot dogs, and decided to treat myself to a healthy Americanized Pan Asian food in Lincoln Park neighborhood! I ordered my all-time-favorite food; Vegetable Fried Rice! It was SO good! Plenty of them. Presented in a boat shaped plate and by a very friendly waiter. And, my total bill was $10! I'm super pleased! Definitely check it out people! You will come here again! :)

Recommend the avocado and mango bubble teas. Everything is hand made and it is a cute, colorful atmosphere. Enjoyed the chicken satay and dumplings too. Perfect for a light meal in the city.

I don't get to Lakeview much, but I stopped by to pick up dinner since these guys don't deliver to me. Really great vegetarian options, they do amazing things with wheat gluten. I consider this place a take-out restaurant because while they do have seating, the place is tiny and it makes more sense to take it home. The staff was very nice and service was relatively quick. My favorite dish, what I ordered tonight, is the bizarrely named, "Melody On River", which I can only describe as looking like ribs and tasting like orange chicken. A pricey $14, this dish will feed me for at least 3 days. I wish there were weirdo vegetarian-catering Asian takeout restaurants like this in West Town. They all seem to be on the North side.. Anyway, I dig it.
(3)Jenna C.
This place is amazing... so far I have not had anything that wasn't completely delicious from here (and I come pretty often). Great bubble tea too!
(5)Jessica K.
I've only ordered the Mongolian Seitan here. I'm not a Vegan or Vegetarian but this house special is just so good I've never felt the desire to try anything else. I actually prefer it over normal Mongolian Beef/pork/chicken.
(4)Luke S.
I forgot about you! I wish you didn't charge $1.50 for brown rice, especially when wasn't superbly fresh. I have to say that everything else was wonderful! The crab rangoon was heavenly!
(4)Alex D.
Yummy Yummy is right down the street and has decent food. That means, more often than not, when I'm craving chinese I call them for carry out. You get lots of food, the crab rangoon are good and the smoothies are fresh and delicious. Very passable and my recommendation for easy, take out chinese.
(3)D. C.
The name says it all! I've eaten quite a bit here, both in restaurant and carry out, and it's consistently great food. My boyfriend always raves about how fresh everything seems to be and how similar the taste and quality is to what his mother used to make when his family owned a Chinese restaurant. - Mongolian Beef - My favorite thing to order. I prefer the sweet variation of this dish, which is hard to find, and they do it so well. - Wonton Soup - Such light, flavorful soup. The wontons have a hint of fresh ginger in them and the light broth even contains julienned carrots and snow peas--something I've never seen in any other wonton soup I've had. - General Tao's Chicken - Not spicy even though there were plenty of dried chili pepper pieces in it; fine by me. Otherwise the large white meat chicken chunks are nice and crispy as are the vibrant vegetables also in it. - Crispy Honey Chicken - Same great crispy chicken as General Tao's but with a delicious, sticky honey sauce instead. - Chicken Teriyaki and Fried Egg over Rice - My 2nd fav item. While the chicken teriyaki is perfect, something about that delicious fried egg on top really puts this one over the edge for me. - Roasted Pork Lo Mein - Big pieces of pork and firm, chewy noodles that I've actually not seen used in any other lo mein that I've had. - Moo Shu Pork - Like little burritos filled with pork and vegetables. The sauce is sweet and garlicky, but a bit too generous for me. - Crab Rangoon - I love a good crab rangoon and it's something I always get when I'm ordering for just myself. It's a bit pricier than other places, but considering the quality and consistency I've experienced, I feel it's totally worth it. I would not hesitate to recommend this place.

I feel really sad about what happened to this place. It used to be a real standout of veggie-Chinese food in Chicago called Szechuan Garden...somewhere my vegan girlfriend and I could both really enjoy ourselves. But...it changed hands. Some younger owners bought it, they don't seem to be Buddhist health types like the previous owner and are trying to force the former restaurant to become a bubble tea place. They still have the same cooks when I last went there a year ago, but it was slipping. Maybe the ingredients aren't as good. The place is bland inside now as well. They serve meat now on a second menu - which is average. This is a sad example of a place with a voice that got bought by people just looking to make a buck and trying to do it by providing the lowest common denominator. Used to be a five star...I still give it three just because there are not that many veggie Chinese options in Chicago. If you don't see something on the menu that you had on the old menu just ask and they will make it. I used to favor the wonton soup, things with soy gluten and the thick and heavy "melody on the river" for a hearty/sugary winter pick-me-up. Whoa is us!
(3)Mollie D.
This is my boyfriend and my favorite place for Chinese on the north side. It's like our go to to order in or pick up. He's really picky about Crab Rangoon and he can't stop eating theirs. All their dishes are quite delish and give you multiple meals to enjoy. I mean, who doesn't love leftover Chinese? I do think their meals are fresher if you dine in, but that doesn't mean it isn't still incredible when you take out. Sooo good.
(5)Katherine M.
I'll admit it - there are times where I would consider selling an organ for some good Asian food. I love the stuff - so when I moved to Chicago imagine my surprise to find out that a delicious Asian restaurant is right around the corner from me. Cue self-control. I was looking to order some takeout of the Asian variety because, frankly, it had a been a terrible week. Nothing makes me more happy than curling up in my PJs with some delicious Asian takeout and killing my mind with a bit of TV. A good friend had talked up Yummy Yummy, and as I previously mentioned it's right around the corner from me, so I decided to give it a shot. They have a great variety of food to choose from - Lo Mein, traditional Asian soups, Pad Thai, fried rice and the list goes on. I went with an order of egg rolls and the Chicken Lo Mein. So often with Asian food it's so greasy that even though it warms your soul after a bad day it makes the rest of you feel like crap as your body tries to digest the sodium and grease. Not the case with Yummy Yummy. I could actually taste the ginger they had added to the Lo Mein! The vegetables (snow peas, onion and bean sprouts) added a bit of crunch to the perfectly cooked Lo Mein noodles. The egg rolls were perfectly fried - and even being fried they very greasy at all. The veggie and shrimp filling was cooked perfectly so there was a bit of crunch to the veggies and the shrimp wasn't a soggy mess. The sweet & sour sauce that accompanied the eggs rolls was just that. A nice little hint of spice when you first take your bite that finishes on a sweet note. All and I was really pleased. It didn't take long for them to get my order ready and the portions were very healthy compared to the measly $11 dollars I paid. Needless to say I will be enjoying my leftover Lo Mein for a few days. The one thing I did notice is that the restaurant itself is very small. If you want an intimate little dinner with a friend or loved one - this is good spot. But I wouldn't try and bring plan your birthday dinner here, there simply isn't room.

Crappy Crappy I'm giving this place 1 star only because I can't give it 0. I ordered online on July 5th. According to Google, I live 4 minutes away from this place. However, it took them an hour and fifteen minutes to deliver. When I called after an hour, the woman answering the phone said that they were super busy. I can understand all of this, though it didn't help the situation. When the food arrived, one of the sauces had opened in the bag and spilled over the food containers within. Just another drag. The food itself was borderline inedible. This was my order: 1. Egg Rolls(2) (X1 $2.95) 2. Pan Fried Chicken Pot Sticker (6) (X1 $4.50) 3. Kung Pao Chicken (X1 $8.95) 4. Crispy Sesame Beef (X1 $9.95) 5. Mixed Vegetables Soy Gluten (X1 $10.95) 6. Vegetables Fried Rice (X1 $6.95) 7. Sesame Cold Noodles (X1 $4.95) The egg rolls were burnt. Pot stickers mediocre. Kung Pao chicken was bland. The Sesame beef was just downright gross. It left an oily residue coating the inside of my mouth that I had to brush my teeth twice and use mouthwash to get rid of. The Soy gluten in the mixed vegetables disgusted my vegetarian wife. She said the texture was all wrong, and couldn't believe it was a soy product at all. Fried rice was ok. Sesame noodles lacked flavor, though in fairness, was a good portion size. We'll not be ordering from here again, nor would I suggest anyone else do so. There are plenty of other decent places to choose from. Maybe we got these guys on an off night, but I'm not going to take another chance.

Amazing! Good as it gets for sure! As a vegan this is the spot to hit up for cheap, tasty and large portioned chinese food. I've ordered the Soy Gluten Chow Fun twice! Once for takeout and another time I ate in with some friends. They seem to give you more if you do takeout for whatever reason, but the portions are pretty packed none the less. First time I ordered we got the bbq seitan appetizer, and it was a tad spongy, so I would avoid that, but the chow fun is a must have! The noodles are light, filling and the soy gluten is seasoned, not too chewy and sauced evenly. I also tried the sweet and sour soy gluten that my friend ordered. Really yummy little balls of fried soy gluten, but not sure I would order that as a full meal. You get a little sweet and soured out after a few of those. Tried a little bit of my friend's lychee smoothie. It was a tad on the sugary side, but definitely fresh and yummm. Anytime i'm in the lakeview area, I have to hit this place up!
(5)Brian Y.
Ordered at 6pm on Sunday. It is now 8pm and I still have not received the food. The woman at the store can't give me an estimated time? After two damn hours? I don't care how busy you are, a two hour delivery wait is absurd. So I can't really speak to the quality of food as it doesn't look as though I'll be eating it tonight.
(1)Tough B.
Bad service. I waited an hour for a pickup order with no apology or discount. Don't waste your time.
(1)Jesse S.
I was quite pleased with Yummy Yummy when I grabbed take out from them last Saturday. Following the recommendations of the other reviewers, and the needs of my gut, I went for the hot and sour soup, egg rolls, and my favorite, the avocado freeze with tapioca bubbles. First of all, thanks go out to my fellow yelpers; the hot and sour did not disappoint. I was filled to the gills with all the loaded goodness, and so much for so cheap! I was able to split it into two meals, which is not shabby for a $5 soup. The egg rolls were only so-so. I think next time I may try the veggie ones, since there was something a little funky tasting with the meat part. Finally, I will just say that the avocado bubble tea was perfect. This is my favorite flavor by far and I am happy to know about a good place in East Lakeview to get one. Very fresh and very creamy. This is definitely an instant mood enhancer for me, and I look forward to trying some of the other offerings.

I've eaten here 4 times now with different results each time. Here's my opinion in a nutshell: bubble tea good, fried dishes good, skip the rest. My experiences have been really inconsistent, ranging from excellent to terrible, hence the 3 stars. I love their drinks, egg rolls and crab rangoon. I've tried a few fried dishes like orange chicken, sweet and sour, etc. It's pretty hard to screw up fried food so they don't get any bonus points for that. So with that, try it, you might catch them on a good night and really enjoy yourself. Definitely get a bubble tea...that way if your meal is awful you will at least leave with some level satisfaction. On the plus side, I like their online ordering system and the delivery even at peak times hasn't been too bad.

Some reviews are about delivery problems, some are about food issues, this review is about both. The biggest problem with my most recent order from Yummy Yummy was the dead bug found floating in the order of Wonton soup. I'd ordered the soup for my wife who was sick and after finding the bug, there's no way she was going to eat the soup. Refer to: imgur.com/q2726,O7Ygb and imgur.com/q2726,O7Ygb#1 . The other problem, and a frequent problem with Yummy Yummy online orders, is that delivery instructions entered into their online ordering system don't accompany the drivers. Tonight I added delivery instructions for the driver to use the Intercom to reach me but instead of doing that the driver called my wife's cell phone. My wife told the delivery driver someone would be right down but when I went down to the entrance of my building I found the driver wandering around and I had to stop him. He told me he'd been looking around for my unit number, but couldn't find it. If only he'd have had a copy of the delivery instructions which told him EXACTLY WHAT TO DO. I've had decent, not great, Chinese food from Yummy Yummy in the past. But this most recent experience suggests to me that I need to find somewhere else to order from.

I'm about to start spending a lot more on take-out, all thanks to Yummy Yummy. I've lived across the street from this place for months and not ventured in. I don't typically eat out anyway, but I think it was the name and size of the place that made me hesitant...Yummy Yummy could be very yucky yucky, who was I to know? Then I decided to get my act together and Yelp the place, and I'm so glad I did. It seems that, no matter how busy it is, my food is ready in fifteen minutes. I place my order, putter around the house for a little while, and pick up my huge portions of awesome that never disappoint. I used to be all about the egg rolls and sesame chicken, which I HIGHLY recommend. But recently I decided to go vegetarian, and have found myself largely limited when I go out to eat. This place offers vegetarians as many tasty options as our omnivore friends, and I'm so thankful! Try the veggie moo shu, and get yourself a bubble tea; the owner (I think?) makes them herself with loads of fresh fruit and little else. Yummy Yummy indeed.
(4)Chris S.
Headline: cozy shop, great pearl beverages maybe a bit pricey, old unsanitary gloves? Yummy Yummy is a classic little Chinese joint. I haven't yet tasted the food so this review is based solely on about half a dozen bubble tea runs. That being said, as someone who spent the better part of a year living in Taiwan completely hooked on bubble tea, I can say that--from my experience--this restaurant has the best pearls in Chicago. The smoothies are fresh fruit and the tapioca is cooked to perfection. However, the beverages are little more expensive than I'd like at nearly $5 for a smoothie or tea with tapioca, but I guess this is the going rate around here. Maybe I became a bit spoiled while living in Taiwan where I could stop at a tea stand once or twice daily for a great fresh beverage at no more than a buck. If I could get a drink here for $2-3 I'd probably double or triple my visits. That being said, my only other complaint stems from what appeared to be the reusing of old plastic gloves when my drink was being prepared. I'm not exactly a germ-a-phobe, but I do value cleanliness. I'd prefer my beverage to be prepared using washed bare hands than old gloves pulled from under the counter. Anyway, the drinks are still good enough to merit three stars!

I'm really surprised people love this place. Something tells me the results are skewed by vegans and vegetarians, who love the veg menu. And that might be an awesome part of this restaurant, but the meat dishes? Not so much. We had a very bland sweet and sour chicken, a super bland General Tso's (supposed to be spicy, and not even close), and not tasty at all pork fried rice. The crab rangoons are passably good, and the pot stickers are gluey and mine were slightly burned. I'll say this for Yummy Yummy, though--the meat was top quality. None of it had an icky mouthfeel, and nothing chewy or gross was bit into while eating it. Still, incredibly disappointing. I don't think we'll ever order from this place again.

They have the best bubble tea I have had in Chicago. If I am feeling down I always go down to Yummy Yummy for a Mango Bubble Tea to make my night better

FINALLY. It's time. The review that I've been dying to write on this place, but I didn't because I promised a certain yelper I'd go with her, but with our schedules, that didn't happen until now. And I let her know my dirty little secret that I've already graced their halls and chowed down on their veggie friendly Chinese food. The best deal is during lunch time on a weekday - for a low price of $5.95, you get an entree, soup and egg roll. I always order the sesame soy gluten extra spicy (it's not listed as spicy on the menu, but they're more than happy to accommodate my particular tastes) and it's divine! Egg roll is yummy, especially since there's the secret ingredient of peanut butter - DELISH! And can you go wrong with the veggie miso soup? It's all Yummy Yummy in veggie land!
(4)Jason Y.
I was introduced to this place by a friend who is a vegetarian, and I haven't ordered anything but vegetarian since! I LOVE their General Tao's Soy Gluten, Sesame Soy Gluten, and Orange Soy Gluten the best. I can't speak for anything but the soy gluten products, but they are indeed Yummy Yummy! (Even for someone like me who isn't a vegetarian). Give it a whirl, you'll love it! Oh, and I almost forgot they also have great Thai Iced Tea and fast delivery/pick-up. I have recently moved out of the area, but this is one of the restaurants I hit on every visit back to the Windy City.
(4)Earl R.
This is one of the best vegetarian restaurants I have visited. The range of menu options is excellent, so there's something for everyone, and something different every time you return. It's definately not vegetarian-only, but that's aabout a third of the menu, which, again, is large. The first time I ordered, I asked for the food to be "fucking hot", which it was to my massive surprise. On that occasion, I ordered a vegan Thai dish to-go with the soy-gluten mix they use. When I got home, I had a few bites and was again reduced to spurting profanity, thinking for sure that they had mistakenly used chicken. A little while later I realized that this was not the case, and have been there many times since. The juice bar is quite good. Go for the tapioca.
(5)Elisabeth C.
Excellent bubble tea and smoothies- the watermelon one and the strawberry lychee are my favorites, the kiwi mango is my boyfriend's choice (I think he just digs the funky green color!) My boyfriend ordered the crispy honey chicken which came over a bed of snow peas- he could not stop talking about how good it was... It was a bit too sweet for my taste, but still really good. I ordered the General Tso's- they made it extra spicy and it was- it was really flavorful- I could taste all the spices in it, the sauce was just right- not too sweet, not too thick. Yum. Keep in mind: I'm really picky when it comes to Asian food. I've come to expect a certain freshness and quality which is generally absent in most Chinese places. While Yummy Yummy offers a great deal of 'Americanized' Eastern fare, it's all very fresh and prepared with a lot of different flavors which make it more appealing than most greasy, flavorless Chinese takeout places. I'm more than happy to pay $9-$10 for an entree since the portions are large and actually taste really good. This is my favorite Lakeview/Lincoln Park smoothie and Chinese spot. Beats Joy Yees in food quality and service (the people who run this place are exceptionally nice- the last time we were in we were quite late and were the last ones to leave- she offered me some mochi that she had at her table). Really nice people, great smoothies, and tasty food- Yummy Yummy is one of my staple Chinese joints.

I'm really surprised that for a small restaurant like this, they make up plenty for on their menu. I've gritted my teeth at a lot of Asian restaurants since moving to Chicago, mostly in part because the menu selections seemed boring. But this place has it all! I just stumbled upon this place the other night, and just tried the boba. The Lychee Peach is an absolute must try; the tapioca was soft and not frozen like some other places I've been to. I went back last night to try the food and more boba. I had the beef & eggplant dish (which came with many other veggies...) and it was soooo good! I was expecting a smaller plate but it was actually a lot of food. I have half of it sitting in my refrigerator right now. I had a few bites to eat of the Korean spicy beef dish, and it was also good. The meat wasn't that plenty (compared to my beef & eggplant dish), and it was a little watery, but it sufficed. Anyhow, I also tried their kiwi strawberry smoothie with jelly... and it wasn't as amazing as the lychee peach. The green jelly definitely added a weird taste but the lady mentioned I could always substitute it for tapioca. UPDATE: Tried their kimichi & korean beef rice bowl, and it wasn't that good. The beef lacked flavor and it was just on top of kimichi and rice. The side kimchi was spicy but it had an extra sour taste to it for some reason. Also had a bite to eat of the orange chicken (which came with broccoli) and it was ok. I still recommend this place and I'll be trying many other items. Will come back to report... UPDATE #2: The salt & pepper shrimp is SO good. It's like an explosion of flavors in my mouth! compliments of the cilantro, mostly.

Apparently this place has good smoothies, and that's what most people seemed to be buying. We should have clued in, but there wasn't much else open at 10:00 pm in this part of Lakeview. $10 for entrees that are comparable to a cheap Chinese buffet. The honey crisp chicken was not crispy and I will bet money that it had no honey. What I did taste was slimy corn syrup with cheap sugar and something else that didn't taste right. Chicken was crazy genetically modified, texture and taste way off. The orange chicken dish was mildly better, but not by much. We paid and left almost all of the food on the table. Manager asked why we left the food. I told her politely we did not enjoy the taste, and it was "not for us". She then gave us a brief lecture about how we probably don't realize that we don't like sweet sauces, and that we should be smarter with our ordering choices next time. What??? Needless to say, there won't be a next time. Lakeview has so much more to offer...
(1)Greg H.
Had a taste for Asian tonite. Live in Lakeview for 3 years and tried so many Asian/ Chinese carry outs with no luck whatsoever at a good meal! Went to Yelp to finally find a well reviewed restaurant . I was led to Yummy Yummy with high expectations! Unfortunately I followed a review for the chicken chilli special by ordering. If you like overcooked chicken nuggets with no veggies or sauce, this is for you! Terrible!! The Szechuan dumplings were pretty good tho! I've saved the nuggets in a shoe for Armageddon, cause they won't go bad!
(1)Jessica G.
I love Yummy Yummy! Their vegetarian menu is awesome. I always get the veg wonton soup. I could bathe in the wonton broth. So light, fresh, and tasty. The thai pineapple soy gluten fried rice is super yum. Other personal favorites are the bean curd in garlic sauce and the sesame soy gluten. The gluten is peppery and cooked perfectly. And their tofu is done right. I appreciate that the sauces are not overly sweet and that they include well cooked, bright veggies in their dishes. The service is great and I love eating here. I always leave happy. Always. !!
(5)Yuwei B.
The review is for the bubble tea only. The lady uses fresh fruits without syrup to make your drink. My girlfriend got watermelon and it tasted delicious. The bubbles were also on point. For $3.50, the drinks was worth it.
(4)Robin W.
Are these the same people who ran szechwan garden? It doesn't matter, the vegan menu is amazing. We had the Orange Soy Proteins, which tasted amazingly like little crispy chewy chicken balls covered in spicy orange glaze. The thai coconut fried rice had curry and pineapples in it, and these soy gluten strips that looked like spiced chicken, but tasted so much like specialty sausage. The faux meat is outrageously good and I want to know how they do it! Seriously, I would love to buy a giant package of just the fake meats and use them for cooking at home! The actual restaurant is small and has bad lighting, so I'd recommend carry out or delivery. Unless that kind of cafeteria style design stuff doesnt phase you, then I recommend BYOB and have a lax meal with some friends. I'll definitely come back for take out.
(4)Andrea A.
Tried this strictly because with a name like yummy yummy how can you not. AMAZING!! Crazy good food. Everyone eat here!!
(5)Laura M.
"yummy yummy can i help you?" .....music to me ears! Yummy yummy is one of my favorite restaurants in.....the world! The fake-meat here is a vegetarian's dream! Nowhere does it better. The Mongolian seitan is a great go to dish, but the empress soy gluten (which I call poppers) and broccoli or cash soy gluten are good too. Smoothies are great too. The lunch special is probably the best deal but portions are huge, so you are gonna get a bang for your buck either way. I'm getting hungry...
(5)Shawn K.
After ordering take out from Yummy twice, I can safely say that this is the best bang for the buck Chinese place in Lakeview. The food is very good. I have ordered the Sweet & Sour Chicken as well as the steamed pot stickers. They give you a lot of food for the price you pay. They do not skimp on the rice either. On both occasions I have been able to make two meals out of one order. Their smoothies are probably the best in the area. They use real fruit and give you the option of adding tapioca. I have tried the banana strawberry with tapioca. The staff are really friendly and helpful when it comes to ordering on the phone. I have not used the seating area since its so small but it appears well kept.
(5)Cameron H.
After working out, we decided to get something quick. Since this place is right around the corner from the bally's on Diversey, it was perfect. Usually, I am a bit leary of this place only because the service is a bit slow. However, in their defense, there is only one woman working the front area and it appears only one man in the kitchen. But overall, the food is good. I enjoy getting the smoothies as they are very refreshing after a long workout. The portions are decent and full of flavor.
(4)tracy f.
The lychee peach and kiwi-anything smoothies with tapioca are some of the best things I've ever tasted. She uses fresh fruit and little else and it's just really amazing. I keep going back for smoothies whenever I'm in the area, sometimes trying other things on the menu. I still think the food kind of sucks, but man I love their bubble tea and smoothies.
(3)Andy R.
Best chinease in lakeview! I don't know how they cook the food, but it never comes out greasy, oily, or over saturated. They use fresh product, and it literally LOOKS healthier than the normal chinease food. Their smoothies are great too. However, only order the chinease food items--if you want thai food, go some where else (it's just better elsewhere (down the street) for the price).
(5)Jade T.
Why am I the odd one out? YYAC's food is average at best, but everything else bombs! I returned to YYAC on Sunday night and the service was FAR WORSE than last time! - My date and I had to seat ourselves. - It took forever for someone to take our order. - His entree arrived several minutes before mine. (Both took forever.) - No one bothered to come by the table to make sure everything was satisfactory. - We had to flag down someone for the check. Alright, it may not seem all that bad. If it was just one of those things, then I shouldn't complain much. However, to have all of those service faux-pas happen creates a miserable dining experience. I've worked in the restaurant industry and their service is absolutely unacceptable. Another irritant: Their blender at the counter is VERY loud, which makes it impossible to have conversations. The last thing I want to do is text my date across the table. If you want to eat here, ORDER TAKE OUT! Otherwise, prepare to endure the disorganized, inattentive, despicable service. Hopefully the owners will improve it or hire MORE EMPLOYEES after reading this fucking review. Just ... ARGH!!!!!!! *Brain explodes*

Fast food-chinese just doesn't cut it anymore...but make it vegan and it's a whole other ballgame folks! Though I like that I can get chinese food that caters to my vegan tastebuds, the thing that puts this place on top is their "bubble shakes!" I always get the avocado shake with tapioca pearls. Creamy, lightly sweetened with simply syrup (yes I've intently stalked them as they make my drink!" and they are generous with the avocado. SO good.
(4)Rachael W.
Definitely a fan of Yummy Yummy! I ordered delivery from there, and although it took a little longer than expected, the food was worth the wait. The Egg Drop Soup was awesome and they give you a ton of it. The veggie fried rice was fresh and delicious. I ordered General Tso's soy protein, and it was different to say the least. I'm not sure I'll get it again, but they have plenty of vegetarian options, so there's plenty to choose from!
(4)Ron R.
Maybe I'm just a broke bastard...but my jaw drops every time I hear the price total when I order delivery. Maybe Thai food has ruined Chinese for me. This is the best Chinese food Ive found in the neighborhood though. The Smoothies are a definite plus.
(4)Michael B.
We just ordered Governors & Sesame "chicken". I don't know what they are pawning off on us as chicken but it was the worst Chinese Food I've ever had. Two bites then into the trash. Never again. Disgusting.
(1)j w.
Update, finally came around to trying the House Special Chili Chicken. Arguably, the best Chinese dish I've ever had. If its not the best, its a close second. Totally different than anything I've ever had before.
(5)Maple Q.
I'm giving this place 3 stars based on quality and service, and +1 star based on experience. I had a great time when I went there. I was in town for a (highly lame) work thing, and me and my two buddies went to Yummy Yummy with several large bottles of Delerium Tremens and a sixer of Anchor Steam. Yeah. That's right. Bring your own beverage, bitches. The General Tsao's I got was sub-par, but edible and replete with al dente vegetables (my favorite kind). The szechuan chicken potstickers we had as an appetizer were great; the seaweed salad was okay, but perhaps a little too chewy. My male companion - he's just my friend, people, and he's male... Aren't you Jeff? ... Grow up... - got this honey fried chicken thing that was pretty good. Our waitress could be described as "sturdy." She was also a little nonplussed/not-pleased to watch us drink for 30 minutes after paying our check. We were the last men standing.
(4)Erica S.
Pretty good and very spicy kung pao chicken. just like i asked for. and it gets delivered 2 blocks from my house within 25 minutes. Every time!
(4)Andrea B.
It's yummy - But doesn't quite meet the double yummy standard in it's name. I lived in China for a summer (Beijing & Shanghai), and even though it's been about 6 years, let's just say I'm picky about my Chinese food. The bubble tea, however, is delicious. Oh, how I love the tapioca - chewy goodness!
(3)Bruce N.
We order from this place based on the reviews and were very happy. I can't remember all the dishes but myself, my wife and boy girl 5 year old twins were full and happy at the end. One meal that I do remember was the Mongolian beef and it was GREAT! Good meat, nice spices and cooked well without tasting like shoe leather if you know what I mean. Probably the closest Asian cooking we have found so far since our arrival from the Big Apple less than a year ago. We are thrilled it is right down the street from us so we can either order in as we did for this review or eat out. BTW, for our delivery service for this order was great. We ordered on line, mess up the payment part, called, they easily fixed it and the food was here ASAP! We are close but the transaction was easy and accommodating even though we messed that up. We did not try the veggan meals so can't really talk about that but we would certainly try based on our experience and the reviews here. So happy to have found a REAL Asian place in our hood!
(4)Leanne M.
Repeat after me. Empress Soy Gluten and Sweet and Sour Eggplant. My third meal here, and it truly was a charm... The leftovers were even better. You've GOT to try! TEN tips! 1. it's all pretty heavy... order a veg (as in vegetable) dish to balance! 2. their delivery is fantastic.... wicker park too. 3. it's right by the 2828 Clark St movie theatre- perfect date night. 4. there IS street parking, not the easiest, but always possible. 5. as mentioned, their vegan/vegetarian menu is HUGE. 6. there's a meat menu too, if you must. ;) 7. the owner is a doll. 8. this place fills my heart's void for local hong kong food. 9. I got a blank fortune cookie-- does this mean the future is a mystery? 10. I'm cool with that, I like a lotta adventure.
(4)Dena K.
Delivered my foods within TWENTY minutes of my order, no joke! I had just placed an order through GrubHub for some pizza and they told me I was going to have to wait 90 minutes! UGH. Thank you, Yummy Yummy!
(5)Michael F.
THIS IS MY FAVORITE ASIAN FOOD PLACE IN CHICAGO!!! Yummy Yummy is not only consistently delicious and filling, but it is super cheap. Their food is sooo good. I love to get delivery from them or drop in for their lunch special when I am in the area. Everyone that works there is nice and it is... just plain wonderful. I would highly recommend the bubble tea, and the twice baked seitan. This is a great place if you are vegan or vegetarian as well. Lots of options.
(5)Jessica S.
I just ran in to Yummy Yummy to get a drink, and I've never eaten food here. I got a honeydew smoothie with tapioca. It looked very appetizing, but I was disappointed with the first sip. The smoothie was thick but had a very watery flavor, and the tapioca had a good consistency, but again no flavor. The whole drink was bland, and I bought the largest size to share with my friend but neither one of us really wanted to finish it. It was expensive, not to mention the long wait time in the middle of the afternoon.
(2)Daniel B.
I feel sorry for Bamboo Garden because they are going to be losing about 500 dollars in the next year because I will no longer be ordering from them every other day. I'm breaking up with Bamboo and have started a torrid affair with Yummy. Since I lack any brain cells at the moment here are the top 5 reasons you should go to Yummy Yummy. 1. The delivery is fast and the driver yells at you in chinese. 2. I didn't have to run around the block 17 times after eating it to burn off 3256 calories. 3. The veggies are perfectly cooked. The carrots especially were delicious. 4. The name is awesome! Almost as good as BONKERS! 5. The price and the amount of food they give you is just right. If that isn't reason enough, well than you should probably have your head examined.
(5)Justine W.
Yummy yummy is good in my tummy, but the service is crumby. Great Chinese Food (for Chicago...where its a struggle to find good Chinese)! We ordered the Salt & Pepper Shrimp & the General Tso's. Both were great - my favorite was the shrimp. Huge portions too! The people working the register seemed annoyed that we had walked in the restaurant. They were even more appalled that we wanted to order food. Either way the food was ready for take out quickly - I don't think it would ever be a place where we'd want to eat-in but I'm sure it will be on my speed dial on any hungover Sunday afternoon (a girl needs greasy Chinese after a late night!).
(4)Evangeline L.
Yummy Yummy earns its name! I've been looking for a healthy Chinese restaurant with vegetarian options for a long time. You just cant beat the soy gluten Kung Pao "chicken"! When I'm feeling meaty I often snack on the pork moo shoo which is filled with crunchy veggies and lean pork and is totally satisfying. Oh and you must try the won ton soup...its soooooo good and huge portion for $5. The wontons are filled with the traditional pork mixture plus lemongrass and ginger, yummy! Plus, they deliver to me downtown...sure it may take a while but whatever, let me repeat, they deliver to me downtown!! P.S. Great tapioca smoothies...try the green tea! My only gripe is, what's up with Chinese restaurants being stingy with their moo shoo pancakes? Do they really think 4 pancakes are enough?
(4)Mork M.
I don't eat here very often especially now that I've moved but holy shit is this delicious. I order off the "healthy" vegetarian and vegan menu but there are many more pages to read from. The length and breadth of the menu easily shuns away other competitors, not to mention the single nicest service from the main proprietor who I have an aforementioned unrequited love for. Delivery out of range? No problem. She apologized to me because it might take longer! I certainly award this restaurant a Medal of Valor in customer service, shaped like their delicious Mongolian "beef" medallions. There are no stale vegetables, dried out ingredients, neglected sauces, or bad soups. Delicious consistent food that puts everyone else to shame. I'm starting to think they radiate mind control signals that make me guilty for not ordering in a while, but its just damn good food.
(5)Victoria J.
Honestly, the one time I ate there I found the food to be less than inspiring. But this place has the best taro shakes ever!!!! So 5 stars for the taro shakes, 3 for the food.
(4)Ashley V.
Dear Yummy Yummy, Why is your food so freaking fantastic? Why am I so addicted to your delicious sesame chicken, pork fried rice and egg rolls? Why are you SO CLOSE TO MY HOUSE? Seriously though, our relationship is progressing very quickly and our weekly Sunday rendezvous are no good for my waistline. Your Mongolian beef is so flavorful and your pad thai is the best around. I have waited 3 long years in this city to find a Chinese restaurant like you and I am not going to let you go...... but maybe it's time for a break. (Well, maybe til Sunday anyways.) Love ya always, Ashley
(5)Dave L.
I love the Mongolian Seitain so much that I'm angry I'm not eating it right now.
(5)Michael K.
Ugh... I really wanted to like this place. It was the only Chinese restaurant I could find open semi-late on the 4th of July and I did Yelp it beforehand so I had high expectations. First impression was that this place should be a smoothie shop. That seemed to be what everyone was buying when I went in there. How do you mix Asian food and smoothies??? The prices were high. I got a soup and a main dish for $16 including tip. That alone had me fuming. Also, the food was just average. This is no Mark's Chop Suey.
(3)Jackie P.
Yummy yummy in my tummy! Your portions are huge and you fill me up! Yummy yummy in my tummy! Delivery, carry out or dining in you know what's sup! Yummy yummy in my tummy! When my tummy is rumply I know where to go! Yummy yummy in my tummy! Even if your service is a little slow!
(5)Shauna B.
Yummy Yummy is Tasty Tasty, but I'm not Patient Patient enough to eat there very often. Almost every meat-based dish has a vegetarian/vegan alternative in the 'health food' section. Even though I am a meat eater, I really enjoy taking a break from animal protein, and I usually order a gluten or seitan-based dish here. My favorite meal is the Mongolian Seitan paired with the Szechuan String Beans. Share it with a friend, and it's more than enough food for two. (Trust me, take it easy on the seitan--it expands in the belly and will leave you far fuller than you think.) I've never been disappointed with anything I ordered at Yummy Yummy, but sometimes (just about always) the ordering process itself is an epic undertaking. It's a tiny storefront with maybe a half-dozen tables, but the lady who works the front is usually busy taking to-go orders, boxing them and making smoothies. If you're waiting on table service, that wait can seem endless--especially if your blood sugar is already low. I love their food, but I find it's best to go there while I'm still pretty full from my last meal and have a lot of time to kill.
(3)Bridget D.
Picked up some food to go. Service was nice. Restaurant was a little dirty but could be overlooked if the food was good. The food however was not too good. I got chicken and vegetables. Much of the chicken was raw. The sauce tasted like water. The dish as a whole made me nervous to eat like I could get sick or something from it. Overall, it was not even worth spending $10 for a meal there.
(1)Victor C.
I love the soy Gluten if your looking for amazing Chinese vegetarian food this is the place !
(4)Don B.
This place is great. The selection of vegetarian cuisine is vast and yummy (like in the name). The bubble smoothies are SO! GOOD! Best in Chicago (well, at least the ones I have tasted). The dining experience is what you should expect when you walk in there. It OBVIOUSLY isn't set up to accommodate people eating there.... so if you set your expectations as such, you should do fine eating in. But it should be pretty clear that this place is made for take out. If you are complaining about the smoothie blender then you aren't taking the hint... you should ORDER ONE and sink into the wonderful bliss they create.
(5)Amy T.
I agree with Jason B. The same thing happened to us. I placed an order at 7:27 and they called me at 10:11 to say they were downstairs with our food. I called repeatedly and no one answered. Finally I called the service that manages their online orders and complained. They cancelled the order for me and told me I would not be charged. This places sucks and I will make sure everyone I talk to knows it!!!

"Yummy Yummy Help You!?!?!" That's what my dream-lover says every time I call Yummy Yummy for some amazing chinese food. The answer? "Yes... Yes you sure can" This is my favorite Chinese food in the city by far. First of all - they have scallion pancakes. Scallion pancakes seem to be pretty hard to find in the mid-west, but my future ex-girlfriend serves them up with love. They have a HUGE menu. Huge! There are always plenty of options for my friends that might be insane and therefore not eating meat at the moment or whatnot. But the bubble tea... really that is the star of this show. It tastes super fresh and not just like powdered chemicals stirred into water. My absolute favorite thing about Yummy Yummy is that they always put up with my annoying substitutions, and everything always gets here right. As someone who would eat her own tongue before eating a mushroom, this is most appreciated.
(5)Dan F.
I've been to yummy yummy a couple times. But never until last night had I gone there for food. The first time I went was for a watermelon smoothie. I was extremely startled by all of the little alien-looking balls floating at the bottom of my friggin' drink. "Excuse me mam. What's with all the alien-looking balls floating at the bottom of my friggin' drink?" "They're tapioca pearls." "Tapioca balls?" "Pearls." "Pearls. Can you take them out?" "No sir." "Oh." So, what's the moral of this story? Be specific I guess would be a good one. Make it clear what you want and don't want, because the food menu, like the smoothie menu, is vast and vegetarian friendly (not that I care about that). A friend and I traveled here after one too many Dewar's on the rocks. It was the perfect drunken binge. We ordered chicken pad thai, crab Rangoon, and pork with eggplant. Another plus, BYOB. This alone is the reason for the fourth star. The food was good, just what I needed at that point in the evening. We sat in this small restaurant, tottering in our seats, swimming in the garish bright green paint that surrounded us. The service was good, not sure who's really in charge, but it worked for me. I may or may not have developed a small crush on the sturdy lady who runs the place, but that's par for the course after a few quadruple whiskeys on the rocks. So thanks yummy yummy, but next time, keep the tapioca balls to yourself. "Tapioca pearls. Sir." "Yes mam. Has anyone ever told you how sturdy you are?"
(4)Nada R.
Yummy Yummy serves some of the best food ever to approach my face. True, the "health food" menu is far healthier for the creatures that don't appear in it, since it's delightfully deep-fried and served in enormous portions... plus calling it health food makes me giggle. Every NY-style takeout dish is present here in full force-- veganized. They even have kimchi lo mein! Stuff you must order here before you expire: BBQ seitan, Korean veggie dumplings, Sweet & Sour Seitan, Kung Pao tofu. Stuff you must try at least once this week: Thai curry fried rice, General Tao's tofu. I can't go all out with five stars 'cos their delivery charge is ridiculous, came without warning, and (after tax and tip) darn near doubled a bill. It was pretty appalling. Pick up or dine-in is the way to go. I can't wait to saunter in and get a smoothie.
(4)Brynn M.
This is one of the very few good Chinese food places I've found in Chicago (outside of Chinatown). Their food is fresh and it's always very fast. Plus, it's great for vegetarians! It only loses a star because I wish they had Almond Chicken!
(4)Eme L.
Service was not so great during my first visit - lady at the counter didn't look up when I entered and stood in front of her for several (awkward) seconds. She mumbled an answer when I asked if there was dairy in the strawberry/mango smoothies (there isn't). It's fresh fruit and a little bit (a think) of simple syrup blended with ice and poured onto a scoop of tapioca pearls. So good that I went back 2x the next day. She was much friendly during my second visit...
(4)Anna H.
The selection at this place never ceases to amaze me. They have a full vegetarian/vegan menu as well as a great omnivore menu. I love the fact that they have tofu and seitan, and the make fried rice sans eggs if you so desire. The vegetarian potstickers rock my world, and the vegetarian egg rolls are the best I've ever had. On the other side of the spectrum, the fried rice with pineapple, shrimp and chicken is divine (plus, they make it with seitan if you'd rather). The smoothies look really good, too, but I'll have to wait until next paycheck to try those out :-) Also, it's a very simple trick, but when I order to pick up, she asks for my phone number and then says 'Oh Anna, hi, what would you like?' I'm not on first name basis with the lady at the counter, in fact she's not that friendly in person, but I'm still charmed that when my name and number are pulled up together in their database, she makes a point of letting me know she 'knows' me.

Delicious food. Reasonable prices. All the Chinese food staples done right! Expansive menu so there are lots of choices to please any diner, even the more healthy conscious ones.
(5)Val B.
I can only speak of the bubble tea. We had the mango smoothie with tapioca balls. The balls weren't hard like I've experienced at other places. I assure you, the whole thing was sucked down in 20 minutes. It was the best bubble tea experience I've had! The inside decor was kind of in-your-face and made me feel uncomfortable just while waiting. It's small, bright green, awkward set-up. But I'll be trying their carryout some time, for sure.
(4)Christa R.
I usually get delivery from Yen's but they weren't open for lunch on this particular day. I ordered the shrimp with lobster sauce. I counted five small shrimp in a giant container of brown sauce with mushrooms and waterchestnuts. The portion size was deceiving and underwhelming. My husband had the orange chicken and not only was the portion size small for the price, the dish itself had very little flavor. It's edible and delivery was relatively quick but I'd avoid it as there are other great asian restaurants in the area.

I crave Yummy Yummy pretty much 24/7. My favorite thing: Vegetarian hot and sour soup. Say WHAT?! Since going vegetarian, that was one major thing that made me cringe when running down the list of "things I can't eat anymore." And their soup is AWESOME. And REALLY CHEAP. $3.95 for a serving for 2. The scallion pancakes are AMAZING as well (great, great dipping sauce.) The items on the veggie menu aren't so temptingly named: "Mixed Vegetables with Soy Gluten," etc. but its just a guise - they are all darn good. I like the meals that come with lots of veggies. Szechuan broccoli is great too. Their sauces are dead on, which is the most important part of good Chinese food, in my opinion. And they have SO many options. I want to try everything. This place is great for take out, not so hot for dining in - its very small and atmosphere is pretty lacking. Still great food either way, but I like to eat it in the comfort of my own home where I can pig out in hiding. :)

3 stars....yea. Food was super delicious. Prices were a hard hit on my not so stocked bank account. Sheesh! Food was fresh and didn't taste of fried grease like many other Chinese joints. If I could afford this I'd have no problem ordering more often. The lunch menu looks appealing. I'd happily give it a shot.
(3)Tiff D.
Noodles are not very good, i would get a meat from here instead of a noodle dish. Just too greasy. Their Curry is nice, but anything else I've ordered from here was underwhelming. I ordered the fried rice once, and couldn't believe that it was just white rice. Like, I paid for an entree and got the cheapest part of chinese food as a replacement. Disappointing!
(2)Amy J.
OMG we had so much food here. The lunch special is totally reasonable but you get so much to eat. Come here with a healthy appetite because if you don't, you'll have plenty of left overs. I got the lo mein which is always a safe choice but it was still good. They're really helpful here too. Yummy Yummy? The name says it all.
(4)Amy S.
Got take out from here a few weekends ago and it was ok. I wasn't completely impressed, but it wasn't terrible. The prices were pretty normal and I'll probably order from them again in the future. We got the orange chicken, a korean kim chi and beef dish, veggie fried rice and egg foo young. The orange chicken was the best of the bunch, but the korean dish wasn't that good.
(3)Mei L.
BEST BUBBLE SMOOTHIES IVE EVER HAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TRY MANGO! FRESH FRUIT! TENDER TAPIOCA PEARLS......DELICIOUS! food was really good as well..........fast and efficient delivery!
(5)Robin R.
I liked the food a lot. I ordered take out a few times and the food was really fresh and it was very hot in temperature. I got about 3 meals out of each order! I am a vegetarian, so I ordered all non-meat items. I would only order tofu though next time and not the other "meat alternatives" because those were actually kind of bland and I did not care for the texture. The vegetables were perfect and the rice was good, not sticky. The difficult part of Yummy Yummy was the noise of the smoothie machine. It was deafening to me. I've experienced this problem in other restaurants that make smoothies and I only order take out food - I could never sit there and eat my meal with all of that loud noise.

This place has some honest advertising because this food is yummy. We wandered the streets in a hungover haze hoping to find a local chinese restaurant that could sober us up with some nice fried chicken. The restaurant is pretty tiny and can probably only hold about 20 people. The waitress/cashier/host/smoothie maker was very warm and nice. The smoothies here alone are worth coming for. I got the coconut pineapple which was delish and tasted like fresh fruit. My friends loved their strawberry kiwi one, and the mango one just got an ok review because of it tasted too strongly of mango. For lunch I got the classic sweet and sour sauce which was very good. Huge portion of food for a fair price. Everyone else enjoyed their meals of Chicken Lo Mein, Cashew Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken all were quickly gobbled down. We also got crab rangoon for appetizers and they were so good and gone so quickly you would have though we hadn't ate in a month. This is definitely worth stopping in.

Yummy Yummy has great potential. First, pretty much anything that one would find on a generic Chinese food menu is offered in a wheat meat (seitan) version. Even though its not a Chinese restaurant. Second, they look to have a powerful blender and lots of herbs around. Finally, the staff is friendly, helpful, and accomodating to the um...choosy? eater. So....they also have real meat, btw, and if fake or real meat isn't your thing, they will gladly prepare any number of vegetables for you with sauce on the side. The walls are bright green and sometimes it smells like lavender in there. My only complaint is that the Vietnamese Spring Rolls are too thick, not rolled tightly, and too heavy on the vermicelli. The sauce for the spring rolls is kind of hoison-y? Not peanuty and not like thinned out sweet and sour. Its a nice sauce but the rolls are a mess, for real. Falling apart all over the place with maybe one piece of mint burried in the vermicelli. Even the shrimp kind has one shrimp and lots of vermicelli. Whatever I still get take-out from there all the time. In an ideal world they would clean up their spring rolls and start offering green drinks from that nice blender they have. Bring on the kale, Yummy Yummy. Please?
(4)Jackie B.
My husband is a vegetarian and I myself am an omnivore and we absolutely love YYAF~ Thank you Jack for recommending it! Their soy glutens are amazing, as well as their szechwan dumplings, the sauce is awesome! Delivery is almost a must as their dining room is so tiny, but if you do eat in, use the restroom, it comes with a full kitchen tour :) The service is slower when you eat there, but I can only imagine it's because they're fulfilling all of their delivery orders. We have also had the luck to become friends with one of their delivery drivers Tommy when he was stranded for two hours with his keys locked in his car last new year day. EAT HERE
(5)Kelly C.
I ordered from here twice in the past two weeks and I contemplated a "yummy yummy" pun. But I wouldn't do that to a friend. The vegetarian menu is HA-UUUGE. The food is good, the service is prompt, what more could you want from Chinese food delivery? There's so much soy gluten (which I don't know quite what that is, but I keep eatin' it. It's addictingly chewy) in the sweet and sour that I had leftovers for two days. Awesome!
(4)Nicole M.
Dear Lord, this place is good. Stopped in on the Sunday after Christmas. Had been in the car for 8 hours and drove past eighteen dozen McDonald's (thank you southern IL!) but this was where we stopped on the way home. Even left the dog in the car to sneak in and grab a bite. (It's worth having self-righteous yuppies yelling at you! Promise!) I had my usual Chinese restaurant fare--hot and sour soup and crab rangoon. The hot and sour soup was packed with goodies--chicken, tofu, mushrooms, egg drizzles, mysterious veggies. Awesome. And you get a huge bowl for around $4. The first bowl I had wasn't very (heat) hot, but the second bowl packed a punch! Good stuff. The crab rangoon was *excellent*. Stuff was really freaking good. The boyf got the Szechuan Chicken Dumplings--they were awesome too. Just spicy enough and packed with flavor. He got Mapo Tofu, which he loved, but I was too full to eat any more at that point. You definitely get tons of food here. We both tried their herbal flower teas--excellent selection. I recommend the peony! Service--quick, attentive, and as friendly as it can be when you barely speak the same language. We didn't have the same problems as other people did.
(5)Mike H.
Delicious local eatery for a quick bite of Asian flavor. Limited spacing but very quick carry out. You must try their Hot & Sour soup as it's one of the best from all chinese restaurants in Chicago - and at only $4, it's a steal! In addition, their Thai Basil Chicken Fried rice is most certainly addicting and worth a try. Huge portions are also a plus!
(4)Sandy B.
I love yummy yummy! I am a vegetarian and they have so many awesome options. The hot and sour soup is vegetarian (a hard thing to find) and it's super!! Prices are reasonable and portions are big. They are very friendly and will customize your order if you ask. A nice little family run restaurant. We usually order out because it doesn't have the best ambiance, but it's ok to stop in for a quick bite too! YUMMY!
(5)Donna C.
This place is one of my favourite take-out places in the neighbourhood (helps that I live close by)! In all honesty, I love the food here even though I don't believe that it is completely authentic. I don't care because it is delicious! Our staples are the orange chicken, mongolian beef, chicken with vegetables, and hot & sour soup. We've tried such things as beef fried rice (yum!), curry fried rice (delicious!), szechuan chicken or beef with green beefs (a little oily), some other spicy chicken dishes, and the lemongrass wings (yummy but pricey). The smoothies with tapioca bubbles are also the best in Lakeview! Budget conscious too! Great lunch specials on the weekdays!
(4)Mindy C.
I'm a picky eater, especially about my rice. The stuff from Yummy Yummy was pretty generic. So I'm still in search of the perfect fried rice... Since there wasn't a menu online, we walked over there (which wasn't bad, being only a couple blocks away) to decide what to take home with us. We ended up having to wait for 20 minutes on our food and there were only 2 tables filled... that seemed a little silly. It's a cozy little Asian restaurant, the staff was friendly, and I understand the appeal of this place to the Vegetarians out there... but the only reason I'd order there again is because it's the closest Asian food restaurant to me.
(3)Steve T.
So, I'll start with the food, it was good, better than most places. However, it took almost 2 hrs for them to deliver and multiple calls to figure out what was going on. I might as well have ordered from China directly. Service/Delivery gets 1 star. The food arrived barely warm, but my rage at waiting that long made me just accept it rather than sending them away. That said, the food was good, nothing spectacular. Maybe it's better fresh and not 2 hrs of sitting in a car? If I do order from here again I'm not sure that I'd do delivery... go get it yourself you could probably walk there 20 times before they actually bring it to you.
(3)Tina M.
The owner of Yummy Yummy is a Dummy Dummy because the service here is TERRIBLE. I placed an online order for 1 single dish and still had to wait 35 minutes to pick it up in the restaurant. There was only one woman working and she was clearly in need of some help. Her phone kept ringing off the hook and she had a line of people waiting for carryout orders, awkwardly standing around because there was no place to sit. And as much as I love the plentiful veggie options, I felt that the singapore noodles I ordered were seriously lacking flavor and were served with some weird tasting faux meat. As many other yelpers have mentioned, this place is really expensive. I can justify $3.50 for a smoothie but $10 for vegetarian noodles is Crazy, Crazy (sorry but with a name like that they're asking for it).
(2)Jen H.
I LOOOOVE this place!!!! They have the largest selection of faux meat out of any restaurant I've ever been to! SO many excellent vegetarian/vegan options to choose from! The food is always amazing and the menu is so extensive it usually takes me a good 20 minutes to finally narrow down what I want to get!! Since moving to the South Loop I miss this place terribly! When I am on the N. Side I make sure to try to hit them up. I would recommend this place to everyone. Great food, reasonably priced and always super friendly service. Yummy Yummy You Rock!
(5)Jenna H.
I HATE CHINESE. I used to think the most effective way for me to lose weight quickly would be to move to Chinatown, where I'd only be able to eat wonton soup & ONLY if the wonton wrapper wasnt too thick/rubbery, the filling not suspicious & the broth not toooooo yellow. HELLO it's me as a Giselle body double! I can now divide my life into 2 stages: Pre-Yummy Yummy & Post-Yummy Yummy. I was concerned because the menu was a. considerably large & b. 1/2 Chinese food (the other half is Thai w/ a smidge of Korean. Which also raised a red flag). I was so skeptical I ordered a smoothie presuming it would end up as my main course. After getting home & trying my Kung Pao Soy Protein...& I'm not a veggie, I'll eat pork, duck, goose, gander, whatevs... I had Yummy Yummy THREE TIMES in the next FIVE DAYS! Goodbye Giselle body double! :-) It's SO much lighter than typical Chinese, not oily in the least, and incredibly FLAVORFUL! Two of my "bffs" are hooked now, too! I've had the vegetarian hot & sour soup, kung pao protein & tofu, singapore rice noodle, korean kimchi rice noodle... all excellent! & the fresh fruit SMOOTHIES! Wow. Two weeks into Yummy Yummy & Ive had five already. You can pick a combo off their menu or pick your own. So far my best have been taro (it's supposedly a root, comes out pale purple, & tastes like a refreshing cookie!?!) & watermelon papaya--my own creation, tastes like summer. mmmmm summer. In short, Yummy Yummy is THEBOMB.COM. & I reserve that title only for things that are so glorious that they can transcend the horrific cheesyness.
(5)Colleen Anne F.
Best Taro bubble tea in town! Small, but great place for to-go food or a quick drink if you're in the neighborhood.
(5)Darrell S.
I went in here a year and a half ago on the 23rd of December.....2007 - I ordered and went to the washroom. I had to walk back through the kitchen ..............I passed two live pigeons and I gave the cooks a dirty look. They looked at me and laughed. - I should never have eaten my food. I should've walked out. But I had a lot of Christmas presents to buy that day. The food was good actually, but...............................................Â..................................................Â................ I've never been back and I will also never forget the sight of those dirty birds walking around near the food. Yucky....Yucky !!!
(1)Cori C.
The name is a bit on the ridiculous side, but thats my only qualm. They have a wonderful vegetarian menu - I've sampled all the tofu dishes now and I can say I love them all. Haven't made it to the regular menu, but this is a place that is sure to have you coming back for more. They have a great bubble tea selection - my stand by flavor is Lychee-Peach.
(5)Zac K.
OK- solid bliss- and they delivered to my house! RARE! Chicken soup was outstanding - followed by the orange and sesame chicken- very well done and I'm sure even better when fresh out of the kitchen vs. in a carryout box. I would def. check this out again and hopefully bribe the polite phone voice to deliver to Lincoln Square :)
(4)Carlene S.
I love this place! They have the best bubble tea smoothies and Thai iced tea. I haven't had a bad dinner here and all the vegetarian options make it easy to find something great to eat. What makes this place truly great is the owners. They are very dedicated, friendly, and they really love their restaurant. Try the avocado smoothie, it is amazing!
(4)Corinna A.
Always ordered delivery to Logan Square. Haven't dined in yet. Happy to know that there is an Asian restaurant that offers vegetarian options besides the ho-hum standard veggie stir-fry (yawn). Really like the gluten dishes and always ordering the avocado smoothie with tapioca. BBQ seiten, my fav appetizer. Empress soy gluten is my favorite entree. Large portions for take out too, you can stretch it out for a couple more days if you're on a budget.
(5)Amit V.
I've never left this place still hungry. As a vegetarian, I was delighted to see some of my old favorite meat dishes made veggie friendly (e.g. kung pao and general tao). For the vegetarians they offer to meat supplements - soy protein and soy gluten. As described to us from the owner, soy protein is used to replace shrimp in dishes, and the gluten replaces chicken in dishes. You can't go wrong with either. Oh yeah and don't forget to start off your meal with an order of the BBQ seitan. It's a tiny place, so when our group goes, we tend to take over the place, but with their free BYOB policy we love it. Our fatal flaw is that we always order too much food. Either come hungry or don't plan on eating for a couple days after. Enjoy!
(5)Jess W.
Also must haves: scallion pancakes, soy gluten and vegetable soup with sizzling rice. Any of the soups, really. I have wet dreams about the hot and sour. Even the miso soup is very good and a huge portion for $1.50.
(5)Erin V.
It feels awkward ordering something called "soy gluten low mein" but it is worth it. I love the peking style tofu and their Korean veggie dumplings. The low mein comes with big chunks of veggies and soy gluten... yup, still feels weird. And I have heard, first hand, that the general tao's chicken and sesame chicken are pretty tastey as well. Really, it is hard not to love a restaurant that answers the phone "Yummy Yummy."
(4)John S.
Got it with my roommate. Everything we ordered was bad. Chicken dumplings-bad crab rangoon- lazy beef and broccoli- god awful Take a LAP!
(1)Brenna O.
I saw the bubble tea sign and I was drawn to it like a magnet. What better way to quench my thirst while shopping along Broadway than with a large Taro bubble tea with tapioca pearls? Nothing, I say. I did think that $4 was a bit much, until I saw the large cup she brought out, at least 50% more than the smaller bubble tea cups I'm used to. I got the taro slush made with crushed ice, and I was happy that it was all one consistency and didn't have ice shards in the bottom which sometimes happens with slushes. Sweet and creamy, it definitely hit the spot. The only thing I would have liked would have been a little bigger scoop of pearls to even out the massive amount of drink in my cup. Yum!
(4)danielle h.
I couldn't love this place more. I'm a vegetarian and they have the BEST vegetarian options. I recommend the general tso soy gluten--normally i get the mixed vegetable soy gluten and ask for the general tso sauce... it's incredible. Try it out...it's worth the trip!
(5)Amanda T.
Stopped in with some fellow Jews on Christmas day. Had ordered takeout before but decided to eat in. The bubble tea smoothies are the best around and the closest comparison to those found at Joy Yee's in Evanston. Tried the Sesame Chicken and Orange Chicken and both were great, sweet and crispy. The presentation was much better in the restaurant than takeout, and tasted better. Also tried an Udon noodle dish which was tasty as well. The best Chinese around the Boystown area. The only problem encountered was a visible cockroach in the kitchen (seen while walking to the bathroom in back).
(3)David S.
Oh hell yes this is THE place for vegan chinese food! The mock up the usual chinese dishes using tofu, soy or gluten. It's not an entirely vegan restaurant mind you but they have a vegan menu that mirrors the carcass one. It's a daunting menu but i've been learning it mostly by trial and error. I really like the General Tao's Soy Gluten which has a nice balance of sweet, savory, spicy, breaded gluten and a few veggies in the mix. When i order chinese i'm vicing so i'm not necessarily looking for a healthful meal. While some of it is hit or miss you really can't go too wrong if yer looking for Chinese fare. The food is kinda pricey but the servings are substantial. Small dining area but it's clean and tidy and service is friendly HINT: the vegan appetizer menu is sorta lacking but the regular menu has fried tofu and vietnamese spring rolls which can be made with vegetables only. UPDATE Yummy Yummy log: Favorite so far is General Tao's Soy Gluten - a nice combination of protein, vegetables, sweet and sweet n spicy. Orange Soy Gluten and Empress Soy Gluten are yummy like a sweet n sour. Disappointed in Mongolian Seitan because it was mostly just seitan. Scallion pancake are *meh*. Veg Potstickers are too 'bready'. Szechwan Veg Dumpling is same as Veg dumping with szechwan spicy sauce dumped on. Szechwan Veg Wontons are soft wontons similar to dumplings with szechwan spicy sauce dumped on. *meh*
(5)Sheau W.
First of, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEIR BUBBLE TEA.....especially the Mango Papaya.. It was my favorite drink ever (well coffee it always my first choice....) I get cravings sometimes just to wanna drink their bubble tea, its fresh and the fruit that they pick it it ripe so it gives the drink a natural sweetness to it. YUMM!!!!! The food is really not bad too, I had tried their vegan food and its realllllllllllllly good. (really taste like eating chicken.. HA!) I'm a meat person, so for me to like their vegan menu its a biggie deal :D Oh, Did i mention that their bubble tea is the best I ever had compare to all the other store??? :P
(4)Ben F.
Best fruit smoothies I have ever tasted, they are made with all fresh fruit that is displayed above the juice bar and just a touch of simple syrup to make the fruit flavors really pop. I have only ate here once and it was very good but for me this place is all about the smoothies! A+
(4)Amy T.
Yummy indeed! I still have dreams about their mongolian chicken. They have a really impressive veggie/vegan selection and even in their meat dishes they give a wide variety of veggies. My two complaints (for a first timer): the dining room is tiny and awkward. We were stuck sitting 1 foot away from a fighting couple. Also, the service was pretty slow, but that may be because the waitress/hostess had to take frequent breaks to blend up some smoothies. I still need to try one of those. Definitely recommend it for lunch if you're taking in some of the fabulous resale shopping (for us po' girls) in that area.
(4)Alisha J.
The vegan boyfriend is a little Christmasphobic and this time of the year is murder for him. So we thought we'd do the least Christmasy thing possible- Chinese food and Western movies. Per Leanne Hilgart (of Vaute Couture infamy)'s reccomendation we headed north to Lakeview in hopes that we wouldn't hear jingle bells nor the delightful screaming of children. None of that, save for the odd christmas song on the radio, was found @ Yummy Yummy. The restaurant is basic and the service straightforward (i.e. ''here is your food, you are interrupting my lunch''). However the food was great, we split the sesame soy gluten and it was every bit as fried and sauce covered as I hoped. For being such a small restaurant the veg menu is pretty large, it included seitan, soy gluten, wheat gluten, and taro among other things. We'll be back.
(4)Luke H.
The Sesame Beef is excellent and the woman who works the front desk and phones is a machine. I'm trying their online ordering for the first time and it's extremely easy plus a 10% discount!
(4)Christy B.
I am about six months new to the vegetarian world and while I absolutely enjoy the idea of a restaurant that pretty much caters to vegetarians, this place just didn't do the trick for me. I ordered the general tso soy gluten ... it was very chewy and had a weird aftertaste. Personally, I would have preferred tofu over a fake version of chicken. Plus, the dish was overloaded with the soy gluten and could have used more vegetables. The veggie egg rolls were very good though, as were the veggie pot stickers. Bottom line: appetizers good, entrees, eh (plus this place is pretty price ... $30 for two appetizers and two entrees). On a semi-positive note, I found it highly amusing when I called in my order and ordered orange chicken for my friend and was specifically asked, "real chicken or fake chicken?" Classic.
(2)Teresa M.
I do love this place and the food is pretty great, but holy hell!! it is not worth the wait. We went there one night and waited over and hour and half for our food to go. Why did we wait? Because we had paid and it was the only place to get veggie friendly Asian food at that time of night. Then, I went back, of course! I called 45 minutes ahead of time and when I arrived to get my order it was not even started! Now, right this second I have been waiting over an hour for them to deliver my food. I guess in the scheme of thing...oh wait!! It's here!! booo, cold but its here. They try, I guess.
(3)Geoffrey I.
I echo the sentiments of many. Love the bubble tea, yet I've never strayed from the Thai Iced Tea. It's one of my five favorite drinks ever. The portions are huge, the food is always fresh, and there's something for everyone on the menu. I've never tried the vegetarian options, but the meat dishes are good enough that I ordered from them once a week for three months. Alas, I've moved away, but every time I'm in the area, I stop in for a Thai Iced Tea. I've always felt like this would be a perfect candidate for Check Please! since no one would assume good food was produced out of such a nondescript location. While the name is cheesy, the food is truly yummy yummy.
(5)Robin S.
We ordered delivery: vegetarian soy protein kung pao and veg soy gluten in garlic sauce. The soy protein looked/tasted like shrimp ... was it shrimp? We didn't know, so we threw it out. The soy gluten in garlic sauce was ... okay. The brown rice was undercooked and sticky. However, the hot and sour soup was quite tasty. All in all, this was a disappointing meal and we probably won't be eating from there again (especially after the was-it-fake-shrimp fiasco).
(2)Mario F.
Out of all of the Chinese Restaurants around my work, Yummy Yummy is my favorite. The food is good, I especially like the Sesame Chicken, and delivery usually only takes 15 mins. I don't really know if that's a good thing or not though???
(4)Jordan B.
I ordered from here for the first time last night. I had a craving for Chinese food, and, having been dissatisfied with every Chinese restaurant I've tried in Chicago thus far, opted to give a new one a shot. I was well rewarded. The food was good, my order was right, delivered quickly, and inexpensive as well. I ordered the watermelon smoothy - I think they freeze a watermelon and then throw chunks into the blender - it was amazing. The general tao's chicken was good, and the egg rolls were decent as well.
(4)Courtney C.
The smoothies are yummy yummy indeed! I watched the lady at the counter make my smoothie and they use natural fruit (not frozen or sitting in syrup all day), ice, a little bit of of some liquid mixture (not sure what it was), and a touch of water. While the flavor wasn't intense, it was still the most delicious mango smoothie I've ever had. The consistency was really thick, and I think the pricing wasn't so bad. I ordered food too, which wasn't all that great. I wish they gave me more veggies.
(3)Elizabeth K.
Why is is so hard to find a good Chinese restaurant in Lakeview? Kung Pao chicken was bland and the Sesame chicken was tough. Plus, it took FOREVER for delivery, and when we called to check the status of our food, the person hung up on us!
(2)Puja D.
I have been trying to keep this place a secret from my friends for a long time. It is absolutely amazing (even tho it looks like a whole in the wall!). The vegetables are so fresh, the chicken so good. The fact that everything is so fresh definetly puts this restaurant above every other asian place in the neighboorhood. The vegan menu is good too. The bubble tea makes me feel like I'm back in Asia. YUM! The portions are really big so it's worth the money.
(4)Rocky B.
I stopped into Yummy Yummy earlier in the week to pick up a menu. Quite a big selection they have of chinese food and of vegetarian food. It seemed like all the food they have on their regular menu side they offered a vegetarian option for that very same dish. Very cool. So last night I was feeling like I was fighting off a cold and decided to get some soup from Yummy Yummy...and a couple of egg rolls. What? Like you've never heard an egg roll can cure what ails you? Anyway...we ordered the sizzling rice soup and two orders of egg rolls for pick up. Order was ready in less than 15 minutes...very nice. Soup was boiling hot when we got it home...heh, even blowing on it didn't seem to cool it down. Sheesh....they weren't joking when they said sizzling. The soup was okay. I had to add some salt and pepper to it just to get some kind of flavor from it....okay a bunch of pepper, The chicken was really tender and the veggies in the soup were fresh and tender. So besides the actual broth I enjoyed the soup. The egg rolls on the other hand....omg, they were so friggin good. I haven't had an egg roll like that in a long time. Just crispy enough, just greasy enough, just meaty enough....ooooooo, it was good. I could seriously take a bath in those things they were so good. I will definitely be checking Yummy Yummy out again in the future. I'm excited to try their Mongolian Beef....my favorite chinese food dish. So don't let the weird little storefront of this place fool you...venture in and pick up something tasty.
(3)Isha S.
Best place for fruit smoothie + tapioca (bubble tea) in the Lakeview area. They use fresh fruit and the smoothies are consistently good. My faves: Strawberry + Mango Strawberry + Lychee I haven't tried their food yet, but have been there several times for the bubble tea.
(5)Armando G.
I Love chinese food and had not had any in awhile. I live in the Lincoln Park area and discovered Yummy Yummy Asian cuisine on YELP. I ordered for take out chicken shop suey and egg roll and it was delicious! If your looking for delicious chinese food I would rate this restaurant as a great choice!
(5)Kassie C.
When your hungover, it just isn't satisfying. Chicken was a generic white. Egg rolls were decent. Three stars instead of two for a surprisingly good smoothie.
(3)david g.
SO yummy.. They have two menus, one normal, and one healthy. the healthy on is just like the normal one, but with tons of veggie options and all sorts of fake meats. BYOB too, which is nice. I love doing takeout or eating here, it's great, quick, healthy chinese food..

I always get off the bus right at their front door and have always looked in, but never stopped....until yesterday. Yes, it's small. Yes, there is only one woman manning the front of the store and the phones. And yes, there is usually a wait for a take out order....but it is well worth the wait!!! The hot and sour soup is fantastic and huge. Easily a two person bowl of soup. The sesame noodle appetizer was very good.....and the pork lo mein was outstanding. The right amount of everything. I'm looking forward to trying the other things people here have raved about. They are my new Wednesday take out spot!!!

Yummy Yummy...where have you been all of my life? I've been in & out of this neighborhood a hundred times & just bothered to go in. So glad I corrected THAT! The hubby & I were wandering around at 5 p.m. on a Tuesday & decided to check it out. HA UUUGH vegetarian selection - quite fab, since he doesn't indulge in meat. BIG BIG portions, VERY tasty & very reasonable in price. I noticed several comments about a wait, but we didn't experience that at all. Maybe it was the hour/day we were there? ANYWAY....... YUMMY YUMMY! We'll be back to fill our tummies! (couldn't resist the bad humor)
(5)Annie S.
My friends and I went here to get bubble tea. It is good bubble tea since they use fresh fruit and have fast service. We got the mango/kiwi drink. It was thick and tasted good. My boyfriend likes tapioca balls and I don't, so I didn't drink a lot =( My one friend got the watermelon tea which looked good but forgot what his fiance got =P but both looked good! Bubble teas are $4.15 (w/tax) which is a little pricey for me. But since they use fresh fruit and the cups are large, I think it's worth it. I have never ate the food here and I doubt I will come here again, only b/c I am never hang out around Broadway.
(4)Gabe L.
isn't it funny that for some money you can get yummy yummy in your tummy. (they don't even cook bunny, which makes me feel sunny) i swear it's almost been a couple of years since i came here. a lot has happened since then, but i still remember the sesame chicken being pretty amazing. now, i just need to find another girlfriend in that area so i can have it again. hmm ...
(4)Daniel S.
4 Words guys: House Special Chilli Chicken. You can thank me later.
(5)Angelique R.
I love a place with veggie versions of my favorite Asian dishes. The General Tao was almost as good as Alice and Friends but half the price and twice the portion. I just ordered the lunch special which came with soup, veggie eggroll (didn't even have to ask for it to be veggie), and a huge heaping of ricey goodness for $5.95. I can't wait to go back and try the other dishes.
(4)Omnia I.
Love this place. Many vegan options, and their faux meat is awesome. I highly recommend the Indian Curry soy gluten - but watch out - it's spicy. The place is small and atmosphere isn't the best, but the food, which is also reasonably priced, makes up for it.
(4)Aaron S.
I'm not a vegetarian but really enjoyed my fake-meat Chinese meal here. I had the Twice Cooked Wheat Gluten and it was great! The texture was quite nice, somewhat like pork but not fibrous. I ordered it extra spicy and it was certainly that. My wife had the Orange Soy Gluten, and our friends had the Soy Gluten in Garlic Sauce and the Kung Pao Soy Gluten. The neat thing is none of the soy glutens were the same! In the orange version, there were little breaded balls like orange chicken (the sauce was good, not too sweet with nice pieces of orange peel). In the garlic sauce, they looked like shrimp and had a lighter texture. In the Kung Pao version they were more like pieces of beef. All the entrees were good though, and we all had enough to take home--if you're good, two can share an entree. The vegetarian hot and sour soup is a huge bowl--enough for four people to share. They also have some really interesting teas. My wife had the rose, which I thought was very good. I had the Blue Mellow, which wasn't as good--really the only negative I can say about our experience at Yummy Yummy. Oh and lastly, I can't see why it matters, but this place DOES have a full non-vegetarian menu as well. In fact it's huge. I wish I lived closer to this place--I'd order from here quite a bit if I did.
(4)Lindsay N.
Yup. Name says it all, basically. Great food in nice small cozy space. Vegetarian friendly with a flexible menu to suit just about anyone. And those smoothies... Huge smoothies overflowing with creamy, coco nutty, fruity goodness. These are a meal in themselves. And who knew avocado slurped through a straw could be so good?
(5)Leah C.
solid chinese food for both the carnivore and vegetarian... vegi's - if there was ever a chinese (and some thai) dish that you had wanted to try, your wish is granted at yummy yummy. soy gluten - is the texture/taste of chicken whereas the soy protein (i was told) - is more of an imitation shrimp. the kung pao soy gluten was great - the sauce was very heavy - though my husband assured me that's how the "normal dish is prepared". brown rice is available although white rice comes with every non-noodle entree. i was overwhelmed with the vegi items and felt like i was asking too many questions re: what veggies come with each dish. i am not sure why they just don't add descriptions to the menu! my husband was in heaven with his combo - beef/chicken/shrimp - dish which is not a usual option at other chinese restaurants! i'd stay away from the vietnamese spring rolls - they were poorly made and the wrapper stuck to the container.
(4)Aubrey R.
It's hard to find a good Chinese place outside of Chinatown. Yummy Yummy delivers so we decided to check it out. They have the best egg foo young! The sauce is really good. Another thing we love is the Cantonese chicken pan fried noodles. Delivery is very fast, usually under 45 minutes. We've tried the fried rice and the salt and pepper shrimp which are also very good. Do not try the honey chicken, not so great. Prices are also reasonable.
(4)Daniel B.
Love the vegan options and "health" based ideology of Yummy. The reason I quote health is because it's still covered in goo and sauces, which, if sweet, most likely have plenty of sugar in them. The price is a tad high for what I'd consider pretty average food, too. All in all, I will go back.
(4)Joshua G.
Consistently good, great value lunch menu, and they can prepare many dishes gluten-free.
(5)Adam L.
It's decent. A little expensive, but the smoothies are good. Anywhere else, it'd be great. But there's much better Chinese to be had around Lakeview.
(3)Alison E.
This was our first shot at finding "our" new Chicago Chinese place, and I wanted to give it a try since they have a fair amount of vegetarian options. While none of the things we ordered were bad per se, none of them really tasted like we expect Chinese food to be. The crispy tofu was good, but needed some kind of sauce. The veggie fried rice and veggie lo mein were all right, but had too many weird spices or flavors in them. Our friend had the crab rangoon, which he found very tasty. Mister really liked the veggie wontons. If you're looking for a different taste than we are, you may really love this place. It was quality food, just not what we were looking for.
(2)Natalie S.
*New Review* I reviewed this place as Schezuan Garden, which obviously, it isn't anymore. It's still a nice option if you're looking for some vegetarian Asian food, but it's quite pricey and I've noticed since changing management the quality has slipped. I used to live for the Mongolian Seitan and last week end it was rubbery and chewy. My husband and I had gyoza, two entrees and I had tea and our bill was almost $40. That's pretty absurd for Asian food, it's just veggies and soy protein, after all. I'm sure we'll eat here again, it's usually plan B if Chicago Diner is too busy to get into. It's just not as great as it used to be.
(3)yakob j.
The mongolian seitan is awesome too! This place everything a chinese restaurant should be! I wholly support this place out of their pure integrity!
(5)Elizabeth G.
Yummy Yummy...I forgot about you. I went to this place the first day I moved to Chicago. Really great food. Really is yummy yummy. And you have to try their boba. Skip the Argo tea down the street and come here. Its delicious...and the only one I've found in Chicago so far. The watermelon smoothie is refreshing. The only bad thing is every time I come here there is a wait. There are only 2 people working here and they are always busy. So go when you have more than a minute. Good for veggie only people too.
(5)Kino A.
Food wasn't good.
(1)Ramya P.
Ate dinner there... had previously rated the place with 4 stars, but me n my husband woke up with a headache, nausea n all other symptoms of a food contamination. Beware!!!
(2)Misty B.
Nice workers. I've been here twice in a week. The vegetarian selection is amazing. The food is amazing. My fav are the szechwan veg dumpling, veg hot and sour soup.
(5)Todd V.
This place was a nice surprise. Not sure how I even ended up here. But New Year's day, we walked by it and went in and loved it. Im sad there isnt one in DC. The lychee fruit smoothie and the szechuan chicken dumplings were bomb!
(4)Jennifer K.
I am giving them 5 stars, even though I only ever order 2 things when I go in: Crab Rangoons and Fruit Smoothie. The Crab Rangoons are very tasty, not at all soggy or gooey in the middle. A solid treat. Also, the lemongrass soup is good for fighting off colds. Definitely recommended for cold and flu season. But the main reason why I go here? The fruit smoothies. No yogurt or sherbet to mess things up. Just huge pieces of ripe, juicy, sweet fruit, some ice, and a little simple syrup (water and sugar for those who aren't in the know), blended together in a harmonious gathering of sweet and healthy tastes. Seriously. I can't get enough of these. Aaaannnnd, you can mix up different fruits - Anyone for a strawberry and lychee smoothie? Right here, please! Just plain mango? Right up my alley! These are so, sooo, soooo good. I like mine with tapioca, but I understand that not everyone feels the same way. The folks who work here are really nice, and go out of there way to please their customers. It's on Broadway just a block or two north of Diversey. Definitely give it a try if you are in the area!
(5)Nicole M.
Vegetarians and vegans BEWARE: about two-thirds of the way into my delivery order of Peking Style Tofu tonight, I found one large piece and then one small, fatty, grisly piece of CHICKEN. I'm completely disgusted not to mention bummed that I lost one of my few trustworthy, vegan, healthy-ish options near home.
(1)Benjamin B.
Despite the incredibly weird and somewhat agonizingly "cutesy" name... I really do dig this place. I haven't as of yet had a wide range of their food, because the first few things that I have ordered from there have been so good. I should give my disclaimer that I have only ever ordered delivery from them because I avoid going to the area where their actual restaurant is like the plague. Every time I call Yummy Yummy to order something I get incredibly friendly service, despite a slight language barrier. The dishes that I have enjoyed the most are Crispy Sesame Beef, Szechuan Beef, Szechuan Dumplings, Crab Rangoon, Empress Chicken, and Kung Pao Chicken. Those dishes have all been phenomenal for me, with the exception that sometimes the Crispy Sesame Beef is sub-par... and I am somewhat disappointed that they don't really serve the vegetables steamed over the top of the dishes... I just find soggy broccoli at the bottom of a dish not very appetizing. However, all of those that have ordered from there with me tout the virtues of the vegetarian menu... and the goodness of the taste of their multi-ethnic selection. Which I think is one of the most interesting aspects of Yummy Yummy, the fact that you can order in four different Styles of Asian Cuisine! Chinese, Thai, Korean, and even Indian! There may even be something else that I am not remembering. Anyhow, I think I have praised this place enough... I give it Four Stars because it is a great place to order from, they have great smoothies and the service is excellent... even if occasionally the dishes aren't up to snuff for their usual greatness. If they could smooth out this inconsistency, I'd give them Five Stars.
(4)JB M.
Oh my dear lord. Seriously folks. Best meatless chinese food I've ever had. Mongolian seitan is FANTASTIC. The lady who's always behind the counter (probably the owner) who makes the smooties is A FREAKING MAGICIAN. Melody on River is impossible. Seriously, it might not actually exist. I may have just dreamt this delightful place.
(5)Ed H.
The General Tsos Chicken and Indian Chicken curry are OUTSTANDING! I could not believe how good they tasted. I go here all the time now, and I have NEVER been disappointed!
(5)Renee W.
SUCH GOOD FOOD!!! and smoothies too!
(5)YR Z.
While I'm not a big fan of the food, their bubble tea is top notch. Instead of using powder for flavoring, they use fresh fruits. More importantly, the tapioca is consistently tender.
(3)Stephen D.
I love this place -- it's fast, fresh, and generally healthy. They have a TON of steamed dishes, in addition (of course) to the requisite fried stuff. I especially like the hot and sour soups (there's one with meat and one vegetarian) and their Szechwan Dumplings (definitely try those). And the price is right!
(5)Aidan F.
Fun times. the obvious choice for vegetarians seeking chinese cuisine. It is an extensive veggie menu, with numerous choices. The folks who run the place are a pleasant bunch, and seem devoted to bringing out hot, fresh food. I am excited about returning to try many more options on the menu. Until next time!
(5)bj f.
o.k., so since my first review, i've been back twice...in less than two weeks. so now i'm certain i've finally found my chinese fix, having tried, and being totally satisfied, by their appetizers: egg roll, wontons, crab rangoon, shrimp shumai. entrees: sesame and orange chicken, variations on fried rice, shrimp in lobster sauce, a couple of tofu dishes, which they were kind enough to adapt to my specifications. the only drawback is that half, or small portions, are not available, and their full orders are too generous for two people unless you pare your dinner to two dishes, which is not how i roll. service has always been extremely accomodating, and the wait for take out is minimal.
(4)A C.
This place has the best vegetarian Chinese menu I've ever seen. They have vegetarian options with yummy fake chicken and fake beef--not just your typical tofu vegetarian dishes. My meat-eating husband enjoys their sweet and sour chicken as well. Fast delivery, good food.
(4)Jason P.
What is there not to love about YY? Now...I can't speak for the food since i've never eaten it. My main draw is the soothies. They do an outstanding job of creating different smoothie creations that you won't find anywhere else. Smoothies with an Asian influence are the best, and YY holds true to the test.
(4)Scott B.
Yummy Yummy! Just found this small, hidden gem located in a mess of construction on Broadway. The name says it all----can't wait to go back!
(4)j p.
So many vegetarian and vegan options. They have a TON of meat substitutes. I've tried a few. The only one I didn't like was the shrimp substitute but I don't like seafood much to begin with, so I'm not sure what possessed me to try this anyway. The have excellent bubble tea. Great for the summer! It's nice to go to Yummy Yummy with a friend and share a couple entrees and definitely try to vegetarian potstickers. They are fantastic. I've got with meat-eating friends and they can't tell the difference!! The service at Yummy Yummy is pretty good. Just remember, if you call in an order, the person answering the phone will only say "hello" and you might think you've called someone's home...but there's a good chance you have the correct number. Funny. Also, if dining at the restaurant, it's small. Probably no more than 15 people can fit max. Don't bring a huge party! I'll definitely go back!
(4)Egan V.
A separate vegan menu contains veganized versions of standard american chinese dishes. Mocked meats made of gluten are their specialty but they have a variety of dishes that also include tofu or just vegetables. Tiny place, we recommend take-out.
(4)Claire S.
I would say Yummy Yummy is pretty awesome in terms of their vegetarian offerings. Not only can you go the vegetable route, but they also serve meat substitutes such as tofu, wheat, and soy gluten. So if you used to love sweet and sour chicken, you can get Yummy Yummy's gluten version. It is a little pricey, but the entrees are huge (easily 2-3 meals).
(5)ro k.
This place is fantastic for its price, taste, and portions. I always get the orange soy gluten lunch special which is a TON of food for only about $7. The dried orange rinds are plentiful and delicious in the dish. And there are also red chilies in it, which I love. You also get an eggroll and miso soup, both of which are also good.
(4)Jason S.
I have two words for you. Smoo Thie. The smoothies are fantastic. If the smoothie is indicative of how the food is, I can't wait for my next Asian food craving.
(4)John D.
3 star food, 5 star smoothie. I come here just for the smoothie it's lineup is so diverse and fresh and non-artificial, non-jamba.
(5)Bryan R.
Definitely lives up to its name, this is our favorite Chinese restaurant in the Wrigleyville area. Not only is the food always delicious but the delivery is really fast; on average they take 30-45 minutes. I don't think there's anything on the menu that I don't like but I especially would recommend the shrimp egg foo young (GREAT sauce!), cantonese chicken pan fried noodles, and the hot and sour soup.
(5)Shira R.
If you like vegetarian food but don't like the smell of hippies, this is the place for you! This is a great place to take: -new vegetarians and vegans who are branching out from "mcdonalds burger, hold the meat" -old jaded veggers -meat-eaters who make the face at the word 'tofu' -people who like sharing (the portions are big and very tasty) -folks who like good Chinese food. I do doubt that it's especially healthy. Its just too tasty for that. But hey, what do I know. So far I've had: -mongolian seitan (my favorite childhood dish). it's a bit greasy if you're trying to eat the whole thing. but quite good. -orange vegan chicken -kung pao vegan chicken -some other kind of beef -barbeque seitan appetizer. Wow! so good. -peking tofu The staff here are very nice, too. It's true. I think the only thing they could do to improve the place is to move it to my neighborhood.
(5)Nico M.
I went here for the first time last year on Christmas eve. My girlfriend and I were starving and it was basically the only thing open around our house. so we went in. it waz small, cozy. i liked the music playing and there were 3 tables full and one person waiting for a pick up order. the woman was extremely nice. We are both ovo-lacto vegetarian's and this was the perfect spot for us that night. we ordered the vegetarian egg rolls, vegetable egg foo young(OMG It's amazing) and curry vegetable fried rice. all of these were great and i like how the amount is huge and it is brought out to our table in a serving dish shaped like a boat. now its almost a year later and I frequent this place maybe once a month. I like that it is healthy and has an abundant amont of veggie dishes. The egg foo young is honestly the best we have ever tasted. I highly recommend it.
(5)Bill T.
VERY tasty, fantastic food. Freshest chinese I've ever had. You won't be disappointed with the Mongolian Beef or Chicken Fried Rice (the only things I've eaten there).
(5)Hello S.
Delivery is always on time, the food is hot, and it is pretty good!
(4)Julia R.
this place is so good! as a vegetarian, i could not have been happier. i tried yummy yummy last night for take-out with the bf, and the tapioca freezes were amazing (in both lychee and strawberry banana). and the food was delicious, especially the kung pao soy protein and the mongolian seitan. the boy didn't like the orange soy gluten as much, since it was on the sweeter side, but i still really enjoyed it. it's really nice to have so many options with all of the fake meat. i can't wait to get back again so that i can try some more great dishes!
(5)Esther Y.
Yummy Yummy has good food, but it's not great. Everything is pretty moderately priced and good, but you can find better. The good thing though is that they have a HUGE delivery range. I don't live anywhere near them and they still deliver to me.
(3)Lesley S.
Should be called Icky Icky. Their food sucks- I'm sorry to all you 4-5 star reviewers out there but it does. The only reason I give it two stars over one is because a)they have a ton of vegetarian options which is nice that they give vegetarians so many choices and b) they have good bubble teas. Great to have bubble tea spitting contests with! Do NOT go for the food though. It is overpriced for Chinese and just not good. Really, really, really bland- nothing at all stands out about it.
(2)Adrian D.
I don't know if a business could have a more applicable name. It's akin to calling Rotofugi "Funtown" or Permanent Records "Great Records,Great Prices" (like that, guys? I just gave props to two other local businesses in this review... my work never ends.) Anyways, the food is yummy... yummy. I love this place, I had never been there when it was called Szechuan Garden, but finding this place has made my year. The selection is great. I only wish they were closer. They won't deliver to my house and that makes me sad. Other than that perfectio thus far.
(5)Andrew M.
Yummy yummy always comes through in the clutch. I've lived around the corner for almost two years and I am so grateful to have yummy yummy there when I need them! I should say right off the bat that if it's the food I'm rating, they are probably more like a 4 star place, since I'm not in love with EVERY item on the menu. The extra star comes from them being open later than my other favorite spots around here i.e. crisp which closes at 9 :\ (Janitzio takes the cake with solid tacos open till like 5 am or something crazy like that). The few noodle dishes I've tried are merely ok. They're not bad by any means, but if you're in the mood for noodles, Joy's up the street a few blocks does them a little better and a little cheaper. But everything else I've tried I find myself very surprised at how good it is. My go-to dishes are sweet and sour eggplant and the Szechuan dumplings. the sweet and sour sauce will amaze you in it's complexity and is the first sweet and sour sauce I've tried that actually has a good bit of tangy sourness to it. The hot and sour soup is also excellent. There are about a million other things on the menu. Generally speaking, if you're a vegitarian (which I'm not, but I appreciate when places do vegetables justice) this place is a gold mine, and while I still haven't made a dent in trying everything on the menu, you're pretty much safe picking something at random and it will likely be good. Finally, as the cherry on top, their smoothies will cool you down just right on those hot and humid chicago days.
(5)Steve M.
Strawberry Lychee smoothie is the best non-alcoholic beverage I've ever had in my life and the shrimp pad woon sen is consistently delicious. Food is great. Portions huge. Prices are cheap. Eating inside isn't the best though, as the smoothie blenders are sometimes loud.
(5)Mary F.
The food was great in this Formica table top restaurant. Nothing fancy; it was a great place to eat before going to Timeline Theater from the designated parking lot.
(4)Brandon H.
Consistent and flavorful Chinese food. The egg rolls were cooked nicely, fried just enough and had a nice flavor to them. The pot stickers were cooked to perfection, but unfortunately lacked in flavor.. they just tasted bland. The Mongolian Beef is some of the best I've had outside of Chinatown. The kung pao chicken has a decent flavor and spice, but nothing exceptional. The best thing about this place is the value, it's pretty cheap for the neighborhood. The delivery is quick, and the people taking the orders speak English well, I've never had a problem communicating or getting a mixed up order.
(4)George A.
We have been eating-in/ordering delivery from this place fro more than one year. Great for vegans. Our favorite is the seitan kung pao and the gen. tao seitan. I would also recommend their smoothies - they are fresh fresh fresh. I especially like the avocado smoothie. The portions are huge, so be ready to haul food home. They are usually big enough for 2-3 meals. I like that they do not use MSG and have brown rice. Not really a date-type of place, but for informal lunch, dinner or carry out it is awesome. Cheryl, one of the owners is great!
(5)Isabella W.
4 stars for the bubble tea - that's it. and for the fact that it's in walking distance from my house with good bubble tea (unlike Argo).. Love the watermelon bubble tea and mango bubble tea. They also serve warm milk tea (w/bubbles) which is a plus for the popular chinatown joy yee's bubble tea place. Haven't had the food here, but am def. a regular for bubble tea. ******EDIT********* Just came here last week with a friend to get two hot/warm milk teas with tapioca and we both had major stomach aches, and my friend threw up while I had heart burn. Definitely NOT going back to this place. I'd give it negative stars if that were possible.
(1)Randall J.
I had dinner here and I found it to be a good experience. The staff was somewhat cold, but warmed up after a bit. I was pleased with the service and the food. I would visit this restaurant again.
(4)Olivia L.
I recently decided to give up the chicken and turkey and become a (more or less) full-fledged vegetarian. A bit worried that my dining options would be a steady stream of stir-fried tofu and pasta, I was so thrilled to stumble upon Yummy Yummy. With vegetarian and vegan options aplenty, in a variety of traditionally "animal-only" flavors, it's quickly giving my beloved Joy's a run for my favourite take out place. I love love love the General Tso's Soy Gluten, and the huge portions seriously last for three meals (and a good thing too, considering the moderately expensive prices). Even if I wasn't in the mood for some veggie chinese, however, I'd still go here for the amazing smoothies (best in the city, by far). While living in Costa Rica, I quickly became addicted to my "Tica mama's" refrescos, thick smoothies made almost entirely of fresh mango with just a little bit of water and ice. I was certain I'd never find anything as good and fresh in the States, or at least in Chicago, but lo and behold, they have my beloved mango refrescos at Yummy Yummy. Cheryl, the owner, chops a variety of fruits fresh every morning, so there are plenty of other options on my list to try.

I was very excited to try this American-Chinese veg spot in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, conveniently located about a mile from where I lived. I had read many positive reviews on how great the food was and couldn't wait to try it out. Upon arriving to Yummy Yummy I was almost shocked at how small the actual restaurant is. Literally just a tiny little rectangle with some tables. Regardless, my friend and I sat down and scanned the extensive menu of both veg and non-veg options. I decided on the orange mock chicken and I believe she had the sesame mock chicken. After ordering I politely asked the waitress if she'd mind turning up the heat (seeing as it was about 15 degrees outside and honestly not much warmer inside, it was FREEZING). She replied that the building controls the heat so I asked if she'd please ask the building to turn up the heat. She gave me a shrug and walked away then returned to ask if we'd like to move 6 feet to the other side of the restaurant next to the heater (ehem, which was NOT on, mind you). Our waitress returned not once, not twice, but THREE times to confirm that I did indeed want the orange mock chicken (did I mention there was only one other couple in the restaurant besides us?). The food finally came after an unreasonable wait and while good, felt more like a bunch of soy gluten balls tossed over some sauce and rice. I wasn't particularly impressed however I didn't mind eating it either. Overall I was pretty disappointed with Yummy Yummy. While far from the worst Chinese food I've ever had, there is also better when made correctly. I may eat here again in the future however I will definitely be ordering take out from now on. 1 star for restaurant and service, 3 stars for food.
(2)stephanie c.
Still on a never-ending hunt for fantastic Chinese food in Chicago. Tough search. Yummy was pretty good, but not WOW. Crab rangoon was delish, as was the hot and sour soup (huge serving). The man was super nice and tolerated my modifications to the dishes- I wanted the pork thai basil fried rice with brown rice and not spicy. Also wanted basil chicken not spicy and with light oil. Somewhat tasty, but again, not amazing. FAST delivery though...
(4)Fancy P.
Yummy Yummy is very yummy. Ordered Take-Out and had pot-stickers, chicken or veggie, pan-fried or boiled. Shrimp Tempura appetizer is amazing and the Honey Chicken is plentiful. All very reasonably priced and they deliver. I heard they have great smoothies. I will have to try them on my next visit. Definitely a keeper.
(5)Sam S.
I like the smoothies!
(4)amy k.
i love the chicken with snow peas here. it's a bit pricey but it lasts at least two meals. always super fast service as far as carry out is concerned. perfect mango bubble smoothies. mellow. yellow. yea.
(4)Natalie B.
I was intrigued by the vegan selections. My friend and I shared a few items, including the thai pineapple fried rice with soy gluten. The soy gluten and the rice were good, but the pineapple had little to no flavor! The crab rangoon was pretty tasty, but the Fried Tofu was Ick Ick Ick. I might go back and try their bubble tea or something off the regular menu. They get a lot of take out business so maybe I'm just ordering the wrong things.
(2)Travis P.
Some of the better Chinese food I've had recently. Cooked to order (not like the Loop lunch spots with trays under heat lamps), and the sauce wasn't too glommy. I had the General Tao Chicken. I was really impressed with the vegetarian options on their menu; I have a vegan friend coming into town next week and I think I'll take him here. Price was a little high, but the portion size was very generous.
(4)Jill D.
Yummy Yummy is my favorite Chinese take out in the city! All of the ingredients are fresh and the portions are enormous. Delivery never takes more than 30 minutes which is also a plus. I would highly recommend it to other Chinese food lovers out there.
(5)Cassie B.
this place bills itself as "vegetarian health food" - i don't' know about that, it may be "healthy" but not necessarily low-cal. the food was only ok, standard chinese food (a ton of different choices). they also have smoothies to which you can add tapioca (which i haven't tried)
(3)Jenn S.
vegan chinese food. i love you too much.
(5)
