There is a God.....and he created Xocoatl. This place restored my faith in the world. If a place like this can exist, everything will ultimately be ok. The store itself looks kinda grungy and sparse, but please do not let this fool you. The tables and chairs weren't really clean, and overall, the atmosphere was lacking. But never mind, because the churros were bomb. I am a churro purist; I do not like anything in, on, or around my churros. So I ordered three plain churros. They have a huge variety of churros, and all the types of ways you can eat a churro: in ice cream, filled with cream, filled with chocolate, in a hot fudge sundae, the works. It took a while to receive the churros...BECAUSE THEY MAKE THEM FRESH!!!!! They are not just sitting under a warmer. I came in half an hour to closing, and they still made them fresh. Holy mother of god I have found the holy grail. I want more churros.

I was in heaven walking into a place that smelled like funnel cake! I love how they had a very creative menu. On certain days they have different churro filling flavors such as peanut butter or even Nutella. The cashier was very helpful explained to me what each and every different kind of churro they had. I'm glad I came across this place. I will definitely visit again.

This is a sweet thing that you can not find in the area. Many latin bakeries dropped making churros and focus on other things. So, it is definitely a good place to get a churro. It was a good one. Choco filled churro was my favourite so far. Funnel cake, agan another rare item that you need to commute a lot to find in the north side. So, very good idea to bring such sweet taste into the neighborhood. They actually do it good. The crowd is from all over the place, mostly attracting youngsters and hispanics. They could have decorate the place little bit better to give a classy look. The kitchen behind the counter seemed clean though. Ice cream. Majority of the latin paleterias, ice cream places and sweet shops like this; they do not produce their own blend of ice cream. There is one major supplier that distributes the ice cream all over the city. It is a below average ice cream, but still goes ok on the top of the funnel cake. If you carefully look at the boxes you will that the manifacturer is all the same for these places. In overally, this is an ok place to supress your sweet cravings and I would go again.

Hands down the best churros ever!!! The only bad thing is that you just can't have only one! Usually get a dozen to share with the family and everyone enjoys them. They have different fillings such as vanilla, chocolate (my personal fav), strawberry, cream cheese, nutella, etc The girl that works there needs to smile a little more and be more chatty since she is the restaurant industry but other than that the place is awesome. Note they also sell other items there such as specialty drinks, ice cream, and yogurt however I have only ordered churros from here.

Amazingly good churros! I didn't like the vanilla filling, but the chocolate and strawberry were good. I bought a dozen to bring to work for Mothers Day and EVERYONE loved them, even the picky eaters.
I have been going through a bit of a churrofaze lately. For some reason churros scream summer to be more than say, a cupcake. I stumbled upon xocoatl aka the churros factory once day while yelping. I decided since it was just a hop skip and a jump from my house I would check it out. Pleasantly surprised! These are what churros are all about, this small unassuming shop is half ice cream parlor, half churro heaven. They have standing vanilla, chocolate and strawberry filling flavors but also a rotating flavor of the day, fom peanut butter, nutella, guava and a few more. I opted to keep it simple with chocolate and vanilla and they were both great, the churros are made to order so they are piping hot and covered in cinnamon sugar goodness. I will definitely be back for some of the other flavors!

So I live about a block from this place and never knew it was that good. So your probably wondering why the 3 start review? Well, we ordered and waited 10 minutes, just to find out that our order wasn't even in the works. When I and my wife asked about our order, after watching 3 people order and leave, the person behind the counter asked what we wanted on our sundae. Something she could have done from the beginning, when I ordered and paid. So 5 stars for food, 2 stars for service = 3 stars for me.

I was in the mood for dessert and nothing that required going to Wicker Park, Bucktown, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Lincoln Square, or downtown to find. And I would find that there is a Xocoatl in Logan Square. Funnel cake. Churros. I had the funnel cake and since I hadn't had one since 1986 -- don't laugh -- it was pure heaven. I returned a few days later and ordered churros filled with chocolate. I was expecting cinnamon sticks the thickness of my finger. What a surprise to find that the churros at Xocoatl are substantial. And because I could see kitchen where they were being made, I was instantaneously transformed into a regular customer. Soy contento.

Cute ice cream and churro shop, with the latter made and filled fresh when you order. We tried the cream cheese and the chocolate. Much to my surprise, the cream cheese was so much better! It gave a much-needed hint of tang to something otherwise a little boringly sweet. Definitely drop by and give the cream cheese a chance.

Tried this for the first time about a week ago. I liked my boyfriends spice Mexican coffee better than my macchiato. It's different! The churros were good and freshly made. My only complaint is that when I got there the girl was stuffing churros with filling and saw me standing there for a few min with my boyfriend waiting. A family walks in after and when she finishes filling she turns around and looks past us and takes the other guys order! Hello I've been standing there 5 min clearly before anyone else. The guy realized it after and apologized for ordering before us but I told him not to worry it wasn't his fault. I'll be coming back for more churros so hopefully I won't be ignored!

Churros is what they advertise and churros is what they deliver! Always fresh, hot, and delicious. You can pick between fillings (and they usually have daily specials) so make sure to see what your faves are. One thing is that the regular size churros are pretty huge, so if you get a bunch make sure you're really hungry.

I had their Xoco churro (an unfilled churro covered with warm, gooey chocolate), and an Abuelita hot chocolate, and both were excellent. Neither were too sweet, and the churro was super fresh (fried while I waited) and not too greasy. The only downside is that I came to hang out for a bit in between plans, and the place is not very cozy: very spare interior with hard plastic chairs, and no WiFi.

Xocoatl is amazing. Their Churros and funnel cakes are great. I barely found out about this place less than 6 months ago and I've been here a couple of times, everytime I come here, I'm left satisfied with everything I order. The Churros in xocoatl are made nice and warm, in other places it's not even warm or fresh. I recommend it to anyone one who are fans of Churros and funnel cakes!(: p.s the employees are always welcoming.

Wooo amazing churros, though with a bit too much sugar coating (but it's churros I know ). The dulce de leche was very flavorful though I would not recommend strawberry and cream cheese. Chocolate was decent, but not the best

This place is amazing. The churros are so amazing and you can get different fillings, toppings, and dips. You can get a churro sundae. You can get a funnel cake sundae. You can get a churro covered is caramel sauce, whip cream, chocolate, and sprinkles. And the prices are cheap. So cheap i hope they stay in business.

After going the the Navy Pier to find that the Churro factory was shut down, I was hankering for churros. Xocoatl was the key to quench my churro craving!! Churros (~$1.14): These can be filled with strawberry, chocolate, cream cheese or other fillings they have available. I personally prefer plain churros so when I tried the chocolate and the cream cheese churro, there were too rich and overwhelming. Still okay if you like that stuff - Churritos ($2.05): comes with 8 small pieces that were good if you prefer more of the cinnamon sugar coating and crunchy exterior. Personally, we felt as though the normal original churros were much better. Churro Sundae (~$3.20) - Ice cream was sub-par. Nothing out of the ordinary and I actually feel like it clashed with the churro we had. So next time, I would omit it or get Vanilla Ice Cream. Overall, the quality of churros here was quite good, fresh, and crisp. The cinnamon sugar crystals were a bit larger and not fine sugar crystals, compared to other churro places I have tried. Nonetheless, Xocoatl has great prices and available year round! I'm excited for Xocoatl because they have a nice parking area in the back so it makes it very convenient for their customers. Additionally, they have FUNNEL CAKE! I can only ever get those at fairs so I'll DEFINITELY be back to try that in the near future.

Warm, fresh, made to order churros with 6 different fillings to choose! Omg I went crazy the first time here. Sundae churros my favorite. It's like a Mexican version of a funnel cake sundae to me! Delicious!

I moved around the corner from here about 2 years ago. (Little less than.) When I first moved here, from about four minutes down the street via car, I was like, "Oh, noes!, I will gain so much weight, living right next to here!" Fortunately for me, though, one of their employees is so completely inept she keeps me from coming in probably 2-3 times a week, at least. When we first moved here we probably came in 1-2 times a week, for either a coffee drink or churros. Now it's less than once a month, because every other time I come in this lady is working. She has NO idea how to make even the most basic of coffee drinks. I'm not expecting high end coffee house quality, here, just the ability to properly mix a coffee drink and the ability to understand the most basic of English in order for me to place my order. It's obvious she's connected somehow to the owner, otherwise I can't see why she would have a job here. Other employees are fantastic at their job, but can be a bit surly from time to time. The churros, freshly made, are excellent. The coffee drinks are A-OK, if you can manage to get someone behind the counter who ISN'T that lady. Anyone from the neighborhood who frequents the joint knows exactly who I'm talking about, and yes, I hate calling her out like this, but SERIOUSLY, sometimes I want a coffee drink made for me and she just can't do it. It's so disappointing.

I actually live next-door to this establishment they have the best funnel cakes and Churros. I never tried their other flavors of ice cream because it looks like it's been sitting for a while but I do get the vanilla because it's the most used ice cream there because of the funnel cakes. I get the strawberry topping which is awesome.

Stopped in here while walking the neighborhood for a drink to go. The place looks clean enough and the treats looked ok. I had to wait a bit for someone to come out from the back and ordered the Mayan mocha and handed over the $3 for the cup. They definitely have a machine like you'd find in a 7-11... Press a button out comes a premixed concoction. My coffee was super syrupy and a little burnt tasting. Oh and no restrooms for customers.

Awesome sundae funnel cake and churros!!!!! This place is small and easy to doubt but don't be fooled its amazing. Everyone in our group fell in love and we had to drive 45 minutes to get to this place so believe we had high expectations and they were met. The service is slow and it's not the nicest place to sit in but after one bite you forget about all that. We had one chocolate and one vanilla sundae funnel cake and I can't pick one over the other they were both amazing. This place is a must try!

I only went here for one reason and one reason only...that reason was the freshly made churros. They will fry them up right as you wait, bathe them in cinnamon and then fill them with your choice of cream cheese, strawberry, regular cream or chocolate fillings. And having freshly made churros is probably one of the best mid afternoon treats in my opinion. They also seem to sell ice cream here and coffees but I didn't have any because I was zero'd in on the churros. So no comment on the coffee or ice cream...Also, the churros cost like $1.25 a piece which is pretty good but you can also get 6 for $6 which is even better. I anxiously await the time when my guilty conscience (leftover from my last trip here) subsides so I can go load up on some more.

Yes, it is a little more expensive than other churro places & it is a little hidden but the place has some of the freshest; least greasy churros I've had in a while! Their fillings rock & they even make cafe con leche like grandma used to make & funnel cakes too! My mom brought me here a while ago & I have only gotten to go a handful of times but each time I do go, I go prepared to spend & get fat! My fav churro so far is their apple filled one ; )

Good, freshly made funnel cakes every time. The inside could use a little more pizazz but..I rarely eat there so it's not too much of a bother. I really appreciate the customer service. Always polite and welcoming! My hubby and I walked in 10 min before close tonight (yes, jerk move I know) and we were still greeted and taken care of in a timely, polite manner. I know people hate when customers walk in right before close but I'm so appreciative of the fact that the girl helping us showed no sign of attitude about it. Something simple, yet it stood out to me. But if you're just wondering about the treats, they are delicious! So are the drinks. Try the different lemonades btw!

Actually sitting here in the joint as I write but the service here is SO bad that I have to leave a review before I even TASTE the churro. I think the owner should really rethink whom he/she has running this place.

Churros, hot chocolate and ice cream. I used a Groupon or Living Social for this place..can't remember which. Anyway, I've been twice with friends and was able to please 3 people off of 20.00 bucks during my second visit. So, it's not that expensive either way. The drawbacks are that the staff sort of act like they don't want to be there. The young lady at the counter seemed to not want to be bothered. Also the place is small..which could be cute if there were staff and decor to make it feel cozy. The actual churros are okay. One of my friends asked to have her churro covered in chocolate and nuts. The girl didn't really bother to chop the nuts up. Which is not that big of a deal but we were the only people in the place. It wasn't busy she could have taken the time to make her feel special. The mexican hot chocolate gets 3 out of 4 stars. The ice cream is better. I got strawberry and it tastes like pure cream, milk and sugar with fresh berries. In other words .. Homemade.

Good coffee, nice little place, and friendly staff. AND FRESH BAKED CHURROS. I bought six churros from them a few weeks ago (don't judge) and began the short walk home when the bag broke and I lost my precious churros on the sidewalk. This is a testament to how good their churros are: in the time it took me to run back and get six more (they didn't charge me) someone happened upon them, picked them up and ate them.

My friends and I had a churro and abuelita hot chocolate. Their churro was fresh and great as always, but the abuelita hot chocolate was gross. Now that abuelita makes powder packets, it seems that used that instead of the tablet and used water instead of milk. $2 for powdered-water not worth it.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Fried dough and ice cream have never gone better together. My brother and I were exploring the new Bloomingdale Trail, and I wanted to stop here before heading back east. This turned out to be a very good idea. Xocoatl is pretty crowded, so it took about 10 minutes to pull the churros and the sundaes together. I got a churro sundae with brownie ice cream and a café olla / coffee with cinnamon. First of all, coffee with cinnamon is really good. The coffee itself wasn't strong but the coffee flavor gave it a certain kind of sweetness. I'm pretty sure they didn't use cinnamon syrup; with the amount of cinnamon in the coffee the sweetness would have knocked my socks off. But the churro. The churro was very, very good. It was warm and a bit doughy in the center, in a good way. Great flavor. The exterior was quite crisp. Cinnamon and sugar doused each stick in abundance. This was probably better than a funnel cake sundae, and that's saying something. Xocoatl sells a bag of a half dozen churros. You should get it, because a freshly fried churro here is about as good as it gets.

Delicious! Went here on a groupon and got a lot of churros! They have many filling flavors (pineapple, strawberry, chocolate, cream cheese) Severed fresh and made to order! It's also a cheap snack!
