Chive dumplings. Pan fried. It's awesome. Like really awesome. I love chives and there was a lot and it was perfectly pan fried. I love me some fried up food, it's the bestest thing ever. However, yes there is a however- I had it as takeout and the dipping sauce was sloppily put in meaning it was never really put in correctly because when I opened my box of dumplings, the sauce was spilled out, leaking all over the bag. No sauce. Lid to sauce container was just hangin by itself. So was the container that was suppose to contain the sauce, hangin by itself with a couple droplets of sauce left. Really? I mean really. Are you that careless when packing up an order? Pissed me off but one taste of the sauce and I knew exactly what it was and thankfully I had a bottle on hand at home. Can you imagine if I was a non asian? I would have been screwed and left with dumplings and no sauce with maybe kikkoman as a substitute. Disgusting. I really hate kikkoman soy sauce for dipping, nor for cooking. It's too salty and not really tasty. So what else did I order? Pad si ew, chow mein and a large Tom yum seafood soup. Pad si ew= FAIL. Not very good. Nearly flavorless, not really stir fried well because a lot of the noodles were broken up. None of that tasty wok char. And the biggest sin of all, at the bottom of all those flavorless noodles was a large lump of scrambled eggs. It was as wide as my palm. So yes, a rather large careless scramble in a pad si ew dish. Someone doesn't know how to properly do a scramble with stir fried noodles. This rendition of pad si ew is a very sad one. Avoid. Ugh. Almost as bad as that pho thai spicy place in lakeview. Chow mein with pork= pretty good and acceptable. The sauce wasn't too thick and gloppy from corn starch but it was tasty enough where all I needed was some sirarcha sauce. I would order this again from here when I start missing the chow mein from home. Tom yum seafood soup (large)= it's really more a medium, enough for 2 small servings. Not bad and the seafood was generous and better be for the price tag of 11 dollars for a relatively small container of it. So there's that. The thai food is alright. I'll stick with Opart in the south loop for my pad si ew cravings- they always do it right there. I'll have to dine in next time and try some more of their appetizers and noodles.

Oh Thai Avenue! Why must you taunt me so with your online ordering system. See, there are just some days when I don't want to talk to anyone. I just want to quietly browse an online menu, click a few buttons, and be one my merry way. Well, they got me two times and that is just about enough for me. We've ordered carry out twice. The first time I went with a typical Pad Thai with chicken. The chicken was dry and flavorless, although the pieces were of good size. The dish itself was sorely lacking in ground peanuts and green onions. The flavor didn't jump out at me at all. It was edible but boring. The second time we ordered was last night. I ordered fried rice with beef and Pad Si-Ew with Chicken. Oh dear. The fried rice was a complete miss. I tried a piece of beef on its own and it was barely edible. Dry, grey in color, and completely flavorless. The rice was ok and I was hungry enough to eat that and skip the beef. Now, the Pad Si-Ew was quite good. The chicken, like the Pad Thai, was a little dry, but better than the beef. The sauce was flavorful and the noodles were cooked to my liking. I really enjoyed this dish and would consider ordering it again in a pinch. I really, really want to like this place. It's close to home and convenient. IF we order from here again, I'll just get my dishes sans meat, which is really a sad day in my world.

This is my regular go to Thai! They are always consistent with their food. I will not say it is the best Thai in town but its pretty darn good. Super quick delivery. Their prices are good too.

A+ Food and Service. Servers are cute ^^
(5)Vithida S.
Decent Thai place in the area, can't complain too much
(3)Lupe L.
This place is awesome. Amazing papaya salad. Real spicy be careful lol! Love it. Spicy pork neck salad is also recommended. Great tasting Thai food at an excellent price!
(5)anita T.
Great food!!! Yummy, I've been coming here for years. The food always seems fresh and flavorful. Lunch specials allow for a full course meal. Favorite dish is chicken fried rice. Basil chicken is outstanding.
(4)Linda L.
The food was okay. I've had better. The service wasn't that great. One of the staffs was unfriendly. It was my first & last time going there.
(2)Rahshonda K.
T. A. gets ordered quite a bit in my office and since I love Basil Fried Rice I figure I would check them out. Extra Basil Please!!! So Yummy. Reasonably priced for SOOOO much food. I had enough to share three times over. Cant wait to order again
(4)Anthony C.
The past 7 times (at least) I've gone here, I've gotten the same thing because it is so good, and I haven't tired of it a bit. In fact I'm actually hoping I tire of it soon so I can try something else on the menu. I have gotten other things in the past and they have been great too. This is a restaurant that's amazingly tasty and too cheap for it's own good. On top of that, Thai Avenue manages to be a classy place to sit down and eat or a quick place to order a meal for carry out that will be done in 10 minutes. I'm going to go get my 'Thai Avenue' tattoo now.
(5)Loan V.
Their beef is usually not fresh so I avoid ordering anything with beef. My friend ordered beef pad thai and it was super bad but they did not want to admit it when we complained. I usually got the basil chicken (usually it is good) but the last time, it has a funny smell and not fresh at all. Good thing I did not have a stomachache.
(2)Eddy L.
The food here is good, but one of the waitress who works here is super rude. You will know what I'm talking about when u go.
(3)Andrea H.
This is my favorite Thai delivery place. The Pad Kee Mao is probably the best I've had in the city. The first time I forgot to order it spicy. Last time, I ordered it extra spicy. I don't think they believed me, though, because it arrived with a nice kick, but not really spicy. Next time I will tell them I'm for real. Gimme that spice! We've ordered a few times and everything is consistently delicious and delivery is prompt. I'm a fan.
(4)Laura S.
Well, I'm not entirely sold yet. I enjoy it under a specific set of circumstances, which is a little silly. So: -I'll eat in only for lunch, because the lunch special is solid. Soup, appetizer and entree for $6 is a worthy deal. HOWEVER, service can be spotty, depending entirely on who's working. One of the younger girls is adorable and checks in exactly when I need her, but others are largely absent and even brusque. Also, the $12 minimum credit card charge is a hassle. I've started using their online ordering system, and I either carry it out or have it delivered if I'm sick, which bypasses the service problem altogether. -The food it hit or miss. The coconut bubble tea is the best I've had anywhere. Seriously. I love the pad thai and pad see ew, but not with beef, which I've found on multiple occasions to be tough and full of gristle. Also, I've learned to stick to the Thai offerings, and steer clear of the Chinese dishes. I ordered egg rolls and received what looked like spring rolls...but no, the server confirmed that they were the egg rolls. Odd. And the fried rice was just not good. It wasn't cooked thoroughly, and included what had to be canned string beans. You know the string beans you were served in elementary school, with a color of green not found in nature? Yeah, those. Gross. Considering that I live in the neighborhood, I can probably find better service and high quality elsewhere close by. I will, however, continue to return for that heavenly bubble tea.

They have the menu special for Thai such as somtam poo pla raa! i seriously miss that dish!! We had somtam poo pla raa, fried chicken (this is the best dish), khao soi chicken, guay tiaw rue, and sticky rice. NOM NOM. they were so good! And you can ask for special chili for khao soi chicken. The service was great and most of the food have original Thai taste
(5)Keiko S.
Authentic or not, I think the food here is great! The place is bright and clean...kinda reminds me of a fast food/dessert joint. (And well, they do sell bubble teas and fruit smoothies.) Most of the items on the menu are Thai, but there are other random dishes, such as pho, chow mein, tempura, yakisoba, etc. Those we haven't tried and don't plan to try... One of my favorite appetizers is the papaya/som tum salad. It's fragrantly sweet and spicy, and goes really well with balls of sticky rice. The beef salad is also tasty; the beef is freshly bbq'ed, smokey and tender. Then there's the "kao soy kai" - the curry chicken noodle. It's traditionally a northern Thai specialty, and here they make it nicely milder. It's really comforting. The best part of the meal is when you get the "Thai" fortune cookie. It's a little fancy treat you get at the end. I love it. (If anyone reading this knows where I can buy them, please let me know!) The worst part is the wait. Although the servers are mostly sweet and friendly, they can be slow during the busy hours. You may have to proactively ask for the menu, refills, check, etc. Maybe they should hire more chefs. Lastly, I think that most restaurants in this area serve decent food, because they can walk to any of the groceries down the street for fresh ingredients! BYOB Hours: Mon - Thurs: 11am - 9:30pm Fri & Sat: 11am - 10pm Sun: 11am - 9pm

I used to get Thai Avenue probably once a week! The food here is delicious, inexpensive, and quickly prepared. We would dine and take out all the time and never had any complaints. I highly recommend Thai Avenue.
(5)Heather V.
My family and I returned to our old neighborhood to pleasantly find some renovations to some favorite restaurants. Since we hadn't had a chance to try out Thai Avenue when we lived in Uptown, we decided to test it out. Wow, it was great and pretty busy! The services was excellent too. If you want some well priced Thai in Uptown, I highly recommend it!
(4)Char Y.
We came for our usual Sunday dinners, and this place was highly recommended by our dear thai friend. She even ordered for us! passion fruit smoothies - GOOD, want more. fish cake with carrots & cucumber - YUM! beef satay with peanut sauce - Love peanut & satay, perfect marriage chive cake - slightly burnt but yummy beef jerky - ok green papaya salad - VERY spicy beef soup with liver - good, would be better with noodles BBQ pork with broccoli - love the contrast in texture spicy pork - ok fried chicken - juicy inside, crispy outside coconut soup & rice dumplings - LOVE it! sweet & savory together sticky rice with mango - interesting combination that i certainly wouldn't have ordered on my own, but very good together. The tartness of the mango works well with the stickiness & sweetness of the rice. Strange, but good. Really good Thai food that is inexpensive & authentic. Everything we had was bursting with flavors in ways that I only dream of. Imagine all parts of the tongue getting tingles at the same time by sweet, salty, sour & spicy. Love it!

There are few places that I crave food from. Very few! Thai Avenue has joined the ranks. But, it's not in as grand of a way as it should be. Hmmmn, the first time I came here, I was not all that keen on the service. The woman didn't provide bad service, but she didn't provide good service either. She wasn't friendly at all. She also didn't provide my table with sauces as she was doing other tables until I asked for it. She even came off slightly snappy at times. This normally would have put me off to coming back, but the food was really good. I went back this Christmas Eve evening to get some take-out. Walking in, there were about three men at the sushi counter. Sushi chef and two other men that seemed to be associated with the restaurant. None of them spoke, at all. If I hadn't been craving Pad Si Ew and Chive Dumplings from there for like two months, and specifically went out of my way to go there (while it was snowing), I would have turned around and walked back out. I mean, they didn't even at least say someone would be out to help me after I had been standing there for a minute. The lady handling orders eventually came and greeted me with a smile and friendly disposition. She needs to lead some job training for the others in customer service. There was only one person there eating versus the other restaurants around them. Same as the first time I went which almost made me not want to go in. And I promise you, the food is good. Customer service matters! My food was as great as it was before, and I can't lie, I will be back. But I wouldn't want to sit down to eat unless the lady who was there on my last visit was working, or there is a visible change in how the rest of the people treat customers. For starters, welcoming them to your business when they enter. Until then, take-out and delivery for me.

I was in a mood for vegetarian pho, but Thai Binh was closed. I couldn't think of any other place that would offer pho in vegetable broth. Feeling disappointed, I went in search of Thai noodles. I'm always in the mood for spicy. My favorite Thai noodle dish besides Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) and Pad Thai is Yentafo. What's Yentafo you asked? I'm glad you did. It's not a common menu item in Thai restaurants. Yentafo is dish consisting of wide rice noodles in a sweet and sour red broth with seafood and tofu (hence "tafo"). Yentafo was all I ordered at Thai Avenue. It arrived hot and the smell was so tantalizing. The portion was huge and there was a good amount of noodles. I asked for Yentafo made vegetarian, so I only had bits of vegetables and deep fried tofu. The tofu was a little too chewy, but it's the broth that makes this dish so unique. There was a little too much vinegar in the broth, but that's a very minor complaint. Chopsticks are useless when it comes to picking up wide and (very) slippery noodles. I managed by piling up the noodles onto the soup spoon. If I was ravenous enough, I would've used a fork. Otherwise, the service was good, and the prices were fare. When I make my weekly trek to Tai Nam Market, I'll keep Thai Avenue in my mind for my quarterly Yentafo fix. = (After receiving the check and their yummy fortune cookies.) Curtis (reading his fortune): "Romance is likely; strike up a conversation." Too bad this is a one way conversation. Me (working on the Red Eye daily crossword puzzle): What the hell is the abbreviation for "time off work"? Curtis: I love you. Me: I need a three letter word ending in "A" and "C". Is it VAC? That doesn't make sense. Wait, yes it does. Curtis: Do you want your fortune cookie? Me: Fortune cookies?? (eagerly grabbing from Curtis's hand) SWEET! Curtis: I told you that when I read mine two minutes ago. Me: Really? Me (after reading my fortune): HAHAHA! Curtis: What does it say? Me: "I will be rewarded for being a good listener." Both: Apparently these fortunes cookies don't know our marriage very well.

I ordered Chicken Teriyaki. I can't believe they pass that sh#t up as such. It's drenched in really watered down soy sauce, and the chicken is overcooked. The whole point of a Teriyaki is grilling with a glaze, not overcooked and drenched in watery sauce. The sauce was not good, not even close to anything Teriyaki-ey. To make matters worse, it's served with sushi rice! NOOOO. Chicken Teriyaki is not sushi! Eating the dish kinda pissed me off a little to be honest. For 12 dollars, I'll take myself elsewhere for lunch.

I had a craving for Thai food tonight, so I ordered from Thai Avenue based on its Yelp rating and reviews. I ordered the avenue rolls, tom yum seafood soup, and the pad woonsen with shrimp. The delivery driver arrived early, but my phone didn't ring when he called so he left. He had kind of an attitude when he came back a few minutes later (after the restaurant called me), but I guess I am lucky he came back. On to the food ... the avenue rolls weren't terribly tasty, although they certainly weren't bad. The tom yum soup was not my favorite (for reference, I really like the one from Ben's Noodles & Rice), but it did have a lot of seafood in it, which you don't always get. Finally, the pad woonsen was (to me) classic pad woonsen, which I think is hard to mess up, and which I enjoyed. Overall, the food was all right, not spectacular. I wouldn't necessarily order from here again when there are a million other Thai restaurants on the North side.

This place gets 5 stars because they'll give me spicy food. First up, som tum. Get it with with the crab if you want something more authentic (som tum poo ma). It's spicy, and fresh, and awesome. Their noodles are pretty good in a pinch. The sukiyaki is solid (and isn't available everywhere). What's great is there fried chicken. Mmm. I've stopped in while in the area and ordered just a quick papaya salad and an order of fried chicken. I've never been tempted to try their sushi because it's a Thai restaurant. I can't imagine it's particularly special.

I've been back to Thai Avenue many times for their Khee Mao. I'm addicted! The ingredients are fresh, and if you ask the kind waitress whose name is Rin, she'll make sure it comes as spicy as you want it! I LOVE spicy food, so Thai Avenue has been my Thai place as of lately. Also good is the Pad Thai, ya know, a typical testing dish to see if an ethnic restaurant is the shit or not. Yes! For me, it's Khee Mao. It's like trying Pancit at a Filipino restuarant or even the simple Spaghetti & Meatballs at an Italian joint. I do like that Thai Ave. offers other Asian foods. I do like their simple Vietnamese rare beef Pho. It's tasty. :) It's an easy BYOB place to be, and if you bring a bottle of vino, they'll bring out glasses, hand you a nice bottle opener and there's no corkage fee, at least, as of a month ago! Rin gets a good tip for that alone.
(5)Kris L.
my fiance and i absolutely LOVE this place!! We seriously order from here almost every week! 98% of the time, it's for their sushi - it's some of the best sushi in this area, and very affordable! Most of the time we get delivery, and they have always been very quick and within the time they've told us they would be. We have dined in once, and the staff was very nice. The other 2% of the time, we have tried both their japanese cuisine and their thai - both are also very very delicious. The only caveat I have with this place, is that, while their sushi really is awesome, I do wish there was more of a selection. They do have a pretty good variety, but there are a couple other sushi restaurants nearby that have more - however, quality overtakes quantity!! =D There are so many Japanese and Thai restaurants in this area, but Thai Avenue really is by far one of the best - especially for their prices!
(5)Chad D.
Delicious red curry. I've been here a few times now and this place does not disappoint. Still working my way around the neighborhood to compare it to other places, but I'm pretty pleased so far.
(5)Cindy D.
YUM!!! I just went here for dinner with a Thai friend. boy oh boy, I do not know how to order Thai food!!! Got the following 1 - Beef Pad Se-ew - I had to order this! :P Very generic compared to everything else 2 - Basil pork - flavorful and good, but actually my least fav. dish 3 - Roast pork with chinese brocolli - DELISH, I loved this!!!! I could eat this entire thing myself 4 - Sukiyaki - Good, but it was too spicy for me to eat.
(5)Janet W.
Ordered something new today dessert Mango with sticky rice Yummmmmm! I could have eaten twenty plates of it.
(4)Lawrence Y.
Ok, so maybe I lied about not liking ANY of the asian restaurants around Argyle. But I'm slowly starting to turn a leaf and liking Thai Avenue. I can only speak for take-out, though. That being said, they have impeccable memory (or maybe just organization), as they always remember who we are when we call in, or if we are ever due anything. They have forgotten our smoothie drinks a couple times and have always offered two complimentary smoothies on our next order. They also forgot to give us a side of rice one time, but still remembered MONTHS AFTER until our next take-out order. Anyway. The fried dumplings are really good, and I like the dark dumpling sauce they provide. I've tried a couple things on their menu but I think my favorite dish at the moment is the seasoned pork bbq ribs. It seems like very little when you open it up but it can be very filling. I like to eat this with the thai sweet & sour sauce instead of the other sauce it comes with (which I recommend you do the same!). Their four-berry smoothie is also the best (with banana a close second), wish they would add tapioca to it though. I hope their courteousness also translates well in-restaurant. I think I might just miss this place when we move from Uptown... hope they deliver to Lakeview?!
(4)Mira V.
Delivery isn't bad. I love their basil chicken and once I'm set with an item I like I normally stick to it. It's fragrant from the amount of basil they use and it'll make you want more after you're finished slurping the remainders from the bowl.
(4)jenny a.
I love Thai Avenue! My roommate has ordered all over the menu, with a five star rating each time. I usually stick with my Thai favorites like Pad Thai, Crab Rangoon, Spring Rolls and the Avenue Salad. The waitstaff has been the same for several years, so they know what they are doing. The service is friendly and the food is always great! Just writing this review is making me hungry. I think I am about to order some right now to be delivered.
(5)Heidi H.
I admit, the only Thai food I have ever had is pad thai, but I do know what I like and Thai Avenue is my neighborhood place to get my pad thai fix. I have never eaten at the restaurant because I am usually taking it 4 blocks home, but every one is extremely friendly. I was even told that I would look good with golden streaks in my hair tonight! hmmmm... what do you think? All in all, great pad thai, friendly service, and close to home. Sounds good to me!
(4)Huy H.
We stopped at this place because of the lunch special for $5.95. The special included an egg roll and a small bowl of Tom Yum soup plus the main dish (I ordered a Pad Kee Mao). The food came quickly as expected. Service was not the greatest. The waitress threw the plates on the table and left. I don't think she said a word to us after taking our order. The egg roll and Tom Yum soup were pretty forgettable. The Pad Kee Mao was not too bad but it was a little small in size. The flavor was good but my noodles were a over cooked. My friend's noodle seemed to be cooked properly. My dish was advertised as spicy but I would be a stretch to even call it mild. The decor was minimal. There was lots of space and I did not fee cramped. The bathroom was very clean.
(3)Feskeli G.
chicken pad tai was good, but too spicy for my palate.
(3)Rebecca L.
i would say this is a solid place for some quick thai eats. Me and my boyfriend had their Lumpia petite rolls, squid pad thai, and roasted duck pad kee mao. The Lumpia petite rolls were nice and hot when we got them, and it did not disappoint. It's a good little snack. The squid pad thai was nice with subtle flavors that were not overpowering. They were also generous with the squid! The pad kee mao had good flavors and the roasted duck was moist and yummy. Overall the pricing is affordable and I would eat there again.
(4)Stan T.
I have heard of this place from a Thai friend and it was well worth the visit. I had the green curry with chicken and it was very flavorful. You could taste all the herbs and spices they used in cooking it; yet, all the flavors came together in harmony. I'd recommend this place.
(4)Pickiest Eater A.
Spicy spicy great flavor will be sure to come back $7 is a great price too!
(4)Kella M.
The first time I went there was when they had just opened (I think). It looked very clean. As soon as I saw the menu, I knew I was in the right place. They had curry puffs, and they were good!!! I've been there many times since although I now live in Kansas. Whenever I'm in town, I'd always stop by once or more if I can help it. One of the waitress who has been working there since the beginning is a really good waitress. She used to be the only one waiting tables especially at lunch time, and she had never once screwed up my order. My favorite appetizers are their potstickers(steamed), curry puffs, fried tofu, tod mun, and crab rangoon and that's because I don't eat pork and I'm allergic to shrimp. Otherwise, I'm sure I would be a fan of their other appetizers. Now that they have a sushi bar, I have also taken a liking for their Hamachi Kama... although next time, I might want to tell them that it's a little on the dry side, but still delicious. For the main course, I would ALWAYS order either Kao Mun Kai (extra sauce) or Yentafo (the waitress knew to put extra squid and vegetable). Sometimes, I would eat one and then order the other to go (haha). I also LOVE their Chicken Basil (spicy) and Singapore Noodles.
(5)Isla E.
Yeah. They welcome vegetarians on the cover of their take-out/delivery menu. Most of the time this is a good sign, even if you order meat, someone back there in the kitchen is concerned about overall health. I got take out Tom Yum Koong (hot and sour soup...with shrimp *hangs head in shame*). The lady asked me if I wanted size small or large! Another sign someone is looking out for my best interests, not trying to rip me off if I only wanted a little soup. I'm willing to overlook the fact that the soup was a tad oily for my taste and mushroom heavy. But good, really. I will go back. I will try the Avenue Rolls one of these days, also.

F**k Thai Avenue. Food came cold, overspiced, and all around terrible. Chicken tasted like rubber, soup had unidentifiable floating things in it. When I called to complain about missing things from my order they offered no help. There's 1000 other Thai places in Chicago. Lots of those are good. Order from there. Grubhub was no help in resolving the issue either. Thanks Tracy. If you're customer service over there you should really re-think how you handle your job. You suck.

It is a small little restaurant right next to Tank Noodle, and I probably would not of gone here if it was not for my uncle's persistence. My family and I went here for a post mother's day celebration dinner for my lola (that's filipino for grandmother all) . Thankfully I did go and it was really good. The pad kee mao (thick noodles) was delicious! Sweeter than I would have expected but delicious none the less, it was my favorite dish of the night. The decor of the place was run of the mill, honestly it could of been any type of restaurant, it was plain, nothing special, but the food was good so that's enough for me. What else did I partake in? we had the fried pot stickers, the seafood salad ( which was surprisingly very very spicy), the panang chicken curry, thai basil chicken, the basil shrimp fried rice, and the spring rolls. It was a bunch of food! It completely stuffed me and I was satisfied, the food did not lack any flavor, the portions were smaller than I anticipated but still filling. Our bill came out to be around 85 bucks, and there were 7 of us, so it was well prices. I say it's a go. If I had to choose between pot pan and this place I would go here.... just saying =)

I was going to give this more stars, but that was when they actually had sushi (the place changed its name to "Thai Sushi Avenue" a year or more ago). The sushi was decent, and the lunch specials were really good deals. Now, the sushi is not available every day, and they've taken off the lunch specials. The place is good for carryout, and fine for a cheap lunch special, Thai or the much more sporadic Japanese. Nothing's great, but the chive dumplings are good as are the spicy chicken wings. I've taken a few stars off for the lousy service. My friend J., who worked years as a busboy, explicitly forbade me from ever commenting on people's service, because servers are at the bottom of the ladder and much more vulnerable to being fired at someone's whim. But I make exceptions for dolts and people who plainly ignore you while chirping around larger tables. The lunch server is a cute, young twenty-something who flashes you a large smile as she brings you the tab, but can't be bothered to even use her brain cells the rest of the time. Today, for instance, she took away our Thai menus - apparently she thought that our simply asking about the Japanese lunch specials (the very scant ones) meant that we'd made up our minds. And disappeared out of earshot (and the place was far from full). We had to flail our arms at the sushi chef to get her attention and the menus back (for someone so lazy, she's surprisingly quick to disappear). She has an annoying habit - something I've experienced the other times I've been there - of not placing the plates on the paper mats: you know, the things they design for plates to be put upon. So you have to pretty much pick up the plate and put it on your mat. This may not sound like a big deal but, look, and I say this as a leftie committed to labour rights - there are reasons why I'm willing to pay more for meals at a restaurant on a hot summer's day. Simple things like having the plate placed on your plate, imagine that. Cute but dumb and lazy service is something I don't need. Especially when the service is explicitly more careful around larger tables of people. Go here for meh specials on the cheap, and take-out if you live in the area. But be prepared for doltish service if you end up eating inside.

This is just a little cheap-looking storefront, but the food was actually really tasty! Great place for a quick Asian lunch. The lunch specials were really cheap, and mine came with tons of food. The egg rolls were hot and crispy, the soup was flavorful with soft tofu, and I got a huge portion of Shanghai Noodles! They were in a tasty sauce and the vegetables in it were surprisingly bright and crisp. They reheated well later too. The only downside was that (as in so many of these places) there was only one waitress, so you can't really get her attention easily. Also, the green tea that I got was a teabag, the kind you can buy in any store. At an Asian restaurant, I expect the real stuff. Other than that, delicious, filling, and cheap!

Thai Avenue recently started serving sushi, and I've been here TWICE for it. The first time I came, I didn't think the sushi was spectacular. It was just ok, but maybe that's because I had nigiri. The second time, today, I tried the SASHIMI (no rice, slightly larger pieces of fish). Each piece of fish was fresh and tender! Just the way it should be! I am allergic to shrimp and other crustaceans, so my choices were limited. However, they were further limited by the selection. They have a total of THREE fish options, plus eel (Unagi), which I don't really consider fish, even though it probably IS, and even though I LIKE it. The fish options were 1. salmon, 2. smoked salmon, and (if I remember correctly) 3. yellowtail (Hamachi). I had several of each, including a couple of Unagi. I was surprised, because I thought it was only going to be OK, like my first time. But it was GREAT! They are moderately priced, so you won't overspend, and their dining room is very clean. I hope they keep serving good sushi, so I can keep coming back for more! It's so convenient for inexpensive sushi!

I come here regularly for lunch. Food is great although next time I would ask them to cook my pad thai with less sugar. I guess I am not really fond of sweet food. Price is reasonable so I don't mind coming back here and bringing my friends.

Great food, good service, clean, reasonably priced, Thai and Jap fusion menu, and BYOB!!! I frequent this place and have never once been disappointed.

For the longest time I swore by Duck Walk in Lakeview, but those days are long long over. Thai Avenue is an incredible, incredible spot for fans of Thai food and residents of the North Shore hoods. The building itself is clean and well-maintained, which I always appreciate because it gives an indication of how the owners define themselves. Every corner of the dining room is tidy and subtle, every member of the staff is friendly and attentive, and every corner of the menu is de-licious! I have tried so many of their dishes, it's hard to find something singular to applaud, but here are some favorites: Steamed Shrimp Shumai Curry Puff Banana Egg Rolls Papaya Salad (So crunchy, spicy, fresh!) Panang Curry with Rice (I like to order it with Thai eggplant.) Thai Iced Tea Seriously, everything's great -- especially for the cost. They also offer a well-rounded selection of proteins for many of the entrées (BBQ pork, duck, squid), and are happy to make vegetarian adjustments upon request. There are a lot of truly wonderful Asian restaurants of assorted variety on this strip of the city, but Thai Avenue is easily my favorite. If you live in Uptown, delivery is usually very prompt.
(5)Amina Z.
I have been coming here for years and it is my favorite Thai food. The only reason that I'm not giving it 5 stars is because 9 times out of 10 the server is horrible! Whenever I had a question about something, the server was never able to answer it or didn't even understand what I was asking. There is nothing more frustrating at a restaurant than having a server who doesn't understand you. Also, the servers have a tendancy to be rude, or ignore you if there is a larger group present that they can tend to. When you call to place an order for carryout, don't be surprised if the person you speak w/ isn't exactly friendly either. The place is nice, tidy, and inviting and the food is good, but they really need to improve on their service!

Hmmm...Thai food I have decided I do not like you! I do not, do not, do not like you I say. With that being said this review is going to be based on everything else but the food. I did try a little bit of everyone's dishes but didn't find too that I liked. The potstickers were good and so was the crab rangoon but that was about it. The wait staff was really slow and seemed understaffed. I think we saw one or two waitresses the whole evening. It took them a good 15 minutes or so to at least take our drink order and then another 15 minutes to come back and take our order. The food was delivered relatively fast and everything was hot. But it was hard finding a waitress when I wanted another soda. Also all of our entrees weren't delivered at the same time. One person waited a good 5-10 minutes for her food after the rest of us got ours and then she had to remind them about the second part of her order. We waited quite awhile for our check and when we were ready to pay we had to walk the bill and our money up to the front for them to cash us out. I did spill a drink during this time so I hope that isn't what made them mad. I did feel really bad about it! Thai food isn't my thing but neither is so-so serious. BUT it is BYOB...so that is a bonus if you know in advance!
(3)Food S.
Very, very good for authentic Thai food. This is the place to go if you want to go beyond Pad Thai and get serious about experimenting with the real thing. The place is neat and conveniently located right on Broadway and Argyle.
(4)Tuyen T.
Decent food. Service is not bad. Average prices. Doesn't stand out to me though.
(3)Angela M.
Located almost in the center of the Argyle area (which is predominately Vietnamese restaurants) Thai Avenue is a nice little surprise that my friends introduced me to just the other night. The restaurant is a fantastic bright green color and I was surprised that more people weren't there on a Friday night. The staff were friendly and the prices very reasonable. My group split an order of the delicious crab rangoon and I had the red curry chicken, which was also really good. I also am now a huge fan of Thai fortune cookies, which they have huge boxes of to purchase that made me giggle like a school girl.
(3)Jesselyn E.
Very good Thai food, prepared quickly, great prices, good and spicy!
(4)Marion P.
This place is somewhat out of the way for me, but I'd like to come back someday. I liked the atmosphere, the food was good and very spicy, and they have some great things on the menu. I had the basil tofu (which was very solid, although I personally don't know who would ever want half of their meal to be just onions), and some BANANA SPRING ROLLS! How great is that? I'd never heard of anything like it. Anything banana probably works better as a dessert than as an appetizer, but even then it was so good! They also have papaya salad on the menu, which is rarely spicy enough in American Thai restaurants, but given how spicy our food was, I believe this place might pull it off.
(4)Leang E.
After being hungover all day, and finally acquiring an appetite this place totally hit the spot. I didn't realize where they were located until I passed by. I remember the place being open a while ago and taking my family here for lunch, and liking it a lot too. It was a few years ago, and I'm not sure how much of it has changed interiorwise nor can I speak to the service. The delivery has been quick and the food still piping hot. The chicken pad thai was very delicious and the noodles were not overcooked or have excessive amounts of peanut sauce. I will have to remember to ask for additional bean sprouts though - I like that stuff! The prices are average, and I will be back for more.
(4)Drew L.
Great food, service, and prices. We stopped in for sushi and iced Thai tea and were greatly satisfied by both. Will definitely go back.
(4)Big W.
I came here on a visit from San Francisco for some badminton and beer. My smelly lil brother recommended it so we went. He is made of boogers and farts but I trust him. The food was pretty good but the service was very SLOW. We waited to get water for about 12 minutes which was the same amount of time as we waited for the check. Poop on them. Like I said, I trust my brother so I can give this place another shot, because everyone deserves a get out of jail free card at least once.
(3)Luan N.
One of my favorite places to go for Thai. It's close, cheap, and consistent. Papaya salad and golden wings are great. Usually end up ordering the pad thai or pad kee mao to go. My usual routine is call in my order, shop for groceries, pick up order, and eat at home in 5 minutes.
(4)Rise H.
Pad Kee Mao is awesome with Tofu - BEST Crab Rangoon !!! Love this place !! Great fast delivery service and always friendly!
(5)Bill M.
Thai Avenue is just off the busy Broadway/Argyle corner. It has a clean and pleasant interior, and the service is quick once you order the food. Waiting for a menu and for the check took awhile longer the time I was here on a lazy Sunday afternoon, though the large group of two dozen well-dressed diners ordering entire fish plates may have had something to do with that (I have also had delivery from here and it was very fast). The crab rangoon featured five crispy pieces of creamy filled goodness, which did not taste crablike at all so that's good for me but perhaps not so good for seafood lovers. The fried dried beef is a tasty and chewy appetizer not unlike fresh beef jerky, with a teriyaki flavoring that is reminiscent of something my father had served in his old takeout restaurant years ago. My friend really liked her papaya salad, though it is too spicy for my taste. My plate of wide lard nar noodles with beef and greens came in a gravy that is a bit too soupy. The chicken pad thai is excellent with a slightly spicy and tangy flavoring that is just right. I have had chicken satay via delivery and it was so-so, with an equally just-there peanut sauce. The Thai-style fortune cookies came with the fortune as a mini-scroll tucked inside a crunchy rolled-up cookie. Thai Avenue has a quiet presence in the Argyle corridor area, but it is very good once you take notice it.
(4)Cary S.
Bad food. Bad customer service. We ordered fried rice, spring rolls, and diet coke to go. We arrived home to find the spring rolls, but with pad thai instead of fried rice, and no diet coke. My fiancé doesn't like pad thai so she definitely didn't say it by accident. Perhaps they misheard her, perhaps there was a language barrier issue. Regardless, the woman on the phone was nasty when I called and told us it was our fault. Beyond the customer service issues, the pad thai and the spring rolls were terrible. The pad thai tasted way too sour and the spring rolls had a funny fishy after-taste (we ordered vegetarian spring rolls with tofu). If a Thai restaurant can't get pad thai and spring rolls right, it is hopeless.
(1)Suz C.
I have only ordered delivery from Thai Avenue, so I cannot comment on table service or the dining area. But I had such a good delivery experience that I am definitely rating this place as one of my favorite Thai places. So...last night before my BF and I went into our separate rooms -- he to watch "24" and me to watch "Heroes," we decided to order out because we had no time to cook and no time to go out to eat before our respective shows started. Actually, the BF's show was already in progress. (Speaking of which, both show's finales were a bit disappointing. Chloe's become such a wussball; the Petrelli brothers are so overdramatic). Ahem. Anyway, I called my order in and spoke to a very nice woman. Thirty-five minutes later, bing! my order arrived. My BF and I dined on crab rangoon, Avenue rolls, pad thai with bbq pork (I've never seen a Thai restaurant with a bbq pork option for its pad thai), and pad see euw with beef. Rock on, baby, the dinner was awesome. While I do enjoy the very Americanized versions of Thai food (like Penny's Noodles or Amarit), Thai Avenue is more authentic and it's fabulous. You can definitely taste the fish sauce and a touch of tamarind in the pad thai (very authentic) and while it was sweet, it wasn't overloaded. They include a lime in there; Americanized versions put in a lemon. The beef with pad see euw is very tasty and the wide ride noodles have a very good consistency. The crab rangoon is tasty because you can actually taste the crab and the cheese has a nice flavor. The Avenue Rolls are Vietnamese Spring Rolls, and they are very fresh and tasty. There is an unusual large piece of lettuce hanging out the back, but no biggie. The sauce is very sweet, with a tangy spicy sauce in it. I am sorry to say that my BF and I ate every single bite. Yeah, my diet was out the friggin' door yesterday. But totally worth it. I believe that Thai Avenue has become my new fave neighborhood Thai restaurant, and someday I will venture in and take a peek at the dining room. p.s. Now that 24 and Heroes are on hiatus, what on earth will I watch on Monday nights other than that yummy Chris Noth on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent"?
(4)Billy C.
One of the best and authentic Thai restaurants in Chicago. One of my favorite spots for Thai food in Chicago. I would say their specialty is more towards the Isaan (Eastern) part of Thailand Cuisine. Dishes like: Som Tam (papaya salad) - usually 2 varieties, shrimp, crab (I like the crab, bpoo, better) Larb either pork, beef or chicken Sticky rice Satay Grilled beef (Neua Yang, Sia Lorng Hai) Griilled pork (Kor Moo Yahng) The other Thai dishes are good too.
(4)Michael B.
Best curry I've ever had. Everyone else was very satisfied with their meals as well. No fortune cookies. :(
(4)Kari S.
Great pad thai! The lunch specials are cheap and good. All of the noodle dishes are unique, so there is always something different to try. My favs are the shanghai noodles or the pad woonsen. Also try the chicken satay and pot stickers.
(4)Alicia G.
Friendly service and great food. I ordered medium spice and it was medium spice! This is now my #1 Thai restaurant.
(5)redbeanmochi c.
This review is about the traditional Thai specialties that have been mostly ignored on Yelp. First off, I am as much of an average consumer of Americanized Thai food as the next person. I like to hit the likes of Cozy Noodles, Ruby of Siam and Thai Sookdee in Evanston on a regular basis. But I discovered this place after my Thai friends took me, and having had the traditional dishes here, I have never had the urge to order off of the main menu. Admittedly, these may not be for you. They're not sweet or oily. They're almost all spicy, and some have a sharp sourness. But if you've tasted more authentic East/Southeast Asian food and liked it, or if you're looking to be more adventurous, you need to give these a try. Here are some that are tried-and-true for me: Kai Jeaw - egg pancake. Not spicy, fairly salty, and goes really well with rice. Suki-hang - clear noodles with a mix of vegetables and meats/seafood of your choosing. You can also get it as a broth, but this version is dry (apparently what the "hang" part means). A bit spicy. Dom sap - soup that's similar to tom yum but a little less pungent. Spicy, and flavored with bay leaves. Has some organs. Nam Kluk - preserved pork fried rice. A bit sour, but not in a sweet-and-sour way. Really fragrant, and a good main dish to complement the others. Sticky rice - this is complementary, and you'll get a choice between this and regular white rice. Get this one. It's fragrant, chewy, and much more flavorful. You can get your pad thai and papaya salad anywhere. Try the stuff on the back of the menu, and you won't be disappointed. Ask for recommendations if you have to - the servers are extremely nice, and will find something for you even if you have the blandest taste buds.
(4)Nastassia J.
I've only gotten delievery from this joint. But let me tell ya folks, if you like spicy thai, this is the place for you. Tell them you want spicy, and they will punish you with spice. Its good punishment though....
(4)Jennifer P.
I love the Avenue Kee Mao with Roast Duck and the shumai appetizer. I miss the yellow interior - the new lime green is too much. I agree with other posters that the service can be between relaxed and downright slow, but I like this place as much as I do Thai Pastry down the street. It's clean, cheap, and tasty. Lunch specials are excellent.
(4)Jay A.
Unpredictable restaurant! Last time I went there I had the tasteless PadWoonsen with bad service. Before that I had a very good and tasty PadWoodsen Pork just like in Thailand and they also have a pretty good Somtum (papaya salad). Anyway I really enjoyed PadWoonsen at this place ..... but I rather go to Siam rice and nooodle for Thai sausage, Somtum and the rest.
(3)Eric B.
My favorite thai restaurant in Chicago - great, friendly service, too.
(5)Anna K.
I'm so glad I moved to Uptown, because now I live right around the corner from the best Thai restaurant in the city! Everything always tastes fresh and delicious. My particular favorite is the basil fried rice with tofu, or the cashew chicken (made with tofu instead of chicken). The steamed potstickers are great and so are the chive dumplings! The service is friendly but not overly attentive. Not a problem, especially if you want to sit in the corner and read or have a long chat with a friend!
(4)Rachelle G.
My neighborhood Thai restaurant =) I have only dined here once because I order take out more times than I care to remember. I can't comment on service like everyone else since my interaction is limited to a few minutes on the phone and when I come in to pick up my food; but in this short period of time, the interaction I do have with the staff is pleasant. Huge tasty portions that tide me over for at least two meals. Atmosphere is welcoming and compared to some of the other restaurants in the Argyle area, this is definitely cleaner than most. Definitely worth a consideration if you're in the area. Updated: 8/5/07 I've been a frequent diner and have been trying other things on the menu, everything is simply fabulous! Definitely try the basil chicken and the thai papaya salad. Service can be slow and you might need to flag them down more than a few times to get their attention, but for the great food and low prices, I can overlook it.
(5)Matt P.
With so many Thai options in the area its really hard to make a decision which ones are best. Thai Avenue does have one item that the others I've been to do not have....Squid Salad! A friend introduced me to this dish that is marinated in a spicy chili and lime sauce. I always request medium spicyness, the hot was a bit too powerful for me. Wonton soup is good too. I've eaten in and had delivery from here many times and I've never been disappointed.
(4)Tara P.
They took the time on the phone, on New Year's Day, to make suggestions to some desperate, menu-less folks (no one else delivers on New Year's Day in Uptown, apparently). Delivery was prompt and the food was good enough.
(3)Dee W.
Yummy pad thai :) - so much stuff and quantity for what you pay for. Cozy atmosphere and parking is decent around here.
(4)jenise r.
i tend to always get the pad see eiw here(its so hard for me NOT to get that dish) i got the tom yum soup and fried tofu. the noodles are always flavorful but not drenched in sauce. i have to remember to stop getting the fried tofu here. with fried tofu its all about the dipping sauce. i dont really like it here, i make it better at home. the thai iced tea is always good my boyfriend really enjoys the duck dish here- he gets is all the time and the shrimp tempura.
(4)Nora L.
Second time that I went here and I know for a fact this is a gem of a place. Their food is fresh and authentic - made piping hot. i ordered the Green coconut curry and my friend a pad won sew. Delicious. The noodles here are fantastic! if you don't want to try anything else, must try the noodle varieties. Cheap and next door to Tank Vietnamese restaurant ( also great), it's great for your Thai urges at Argyle.
(4)Al K.
The food was pretty good but the atmosphere left something to be desired. For some reason sound travels real well inside so if you're on a date and trying to have a one-on-one conversation, a large group may drown you out easy. I ordered a Chicken Pad Thai and can't say it's the best I ever had. Likewise, I cannot say it's the worst either. My friend ordered a curry dish that wasn't spectacular. The restaurant wasn't too crowded and with that being said, for some odd reason my dish took a time to come out. Service was decent with the server stopping by often to refill our water glasses. For the price and portion size, this restaurant is comparable to other Thai restaurants in the area. If I needed a quick Thai fix I would go back but there are other Thai restaurants in the area I would try out first.
(3)Peggy K.
Ok..this place has become my top five right now. Grilled pork is the best. Pad thai shrimp is like a bonus since they use kinda big shrimps. The catch is evrything tastes kinda spicy eventhough you have strongly referred to medium level. It seems to be one step over, which in a way is good for me but not for my boyfriend. So next time we will do Mild.
(4)S L.
Mmmmmm.... Thai food! This is one of my favorite Thai restaurant in Chicago! I think I'm hungry just thinking about what to write for the review! Over the years,I have tried almost everything on the menu, from the common to the off beat, and I've never been disappointed! I almost always order the fried bananas or the banana egg rolls. What's not to love about fried bananas! Now if only I remember to bring that bottle of caramel sauce with me.... I usually come here on a weeknight with my other half. There is usually a few tables of fellow diners as well. The service can be slow at times, so wave them down if you need something right away. Bottom line: For delicious & authentic Thai food, this place is a must-try! Service can be slow at times, but the tastiness of the food and the super affordable menu prices will compensate for that.
(5)Jennifer N.
One of my very favorite Thai places in the city. The pad kee mao (wide noodles) is sooo very yummy, and the pork satay is delish! That dipping sauce that comes with it is like liquid crack to my tingling taste buds. BYOB too, which is always nice. Never had a bad meal here...and if mango is in season, you must get the mango with sticky rice. Not too sweet, just perfection on a plate.
(5)Matt N.
Great thai delivery place when its too cold/rainy/windy/snowy to leave the house. Try any of the curry dishes, panang especially. I have had better crab rangoon however.
(5)Jason S.
Is there a way to rate with less than one star? Not only did I wait 1hr 45 min for delivery of my luke warm, bland red curry beef and chicken pad thai, but when I called to tell them my plight they blamed it on the driver. When I talked to the driver upon his untimely arrival, he blamed it on the restaurant. The restaurant told me that they use third party drivers and that there was nothing I could do but get a credit for my next meal at this place. Trust me, I am forgoing the credit and ordering from Joys or Cozi like I should have in the first place.
(1)Elise P.
I had a good experience here. I visited at about 6pm on a Saturday night, and there were only a few other people in the restaurant. Appetisers came quickly; I had spring rolls, which were fresh and delicious. Our food also came quickly--however, not at the same time. My friend's meal was brought out shortly after my appetiser, but my other friend and I didn't get ours until about five minutes later. It didn't bother us too much, but it is strange. The food, however, was excellent. I had tofu pad thai, as did one of my friends; the other had a noodle dish with tofu, peanut sauce, and brocolli. Everything was hot, and we enjoyed it thoroughly. I also had a coconut bubble tea, which was very tasty. When it came time for the check, however, our waitress was hard to find--not good when there are only four tables and two waitresses. That deducts a star. Overall, though, a good experience, and I recommend them!
(4)Ann K.
This place rules. The beef salad is tangy and delicious with an enormous serving of beef. The basil fried rice is also incredible. Very fast turnaround for pick up orders and service is friendly. Cheap too!
(5)Jacki S.
Met a friend here for dinner, and ordered the red curry with chicken. The very first bite of chicken tasted strange, but I brushed it off and continued eating. This was a mistake - I ended up with a severe case of campylobacter (food poisoning caused by undercooked chicken). That's more than enough to put me off from ever returning here, not to mention the fact that the quality of the food is terrible. If eating mediocre, poor quality Thai food is worth six days of fever, terrible stomach cramps, nausea, and much, much worse, feel free to eat here. Bonus: You might lose a few pounds!
(1)Linda B.
I've been on a serious thai-food spree for the past 6 months or so...I eat it just about every week and am making my way through all the different thai spots in the city. So, today was Thai Avenue's turn. I thought it was good, very good actually. Others have noted how empty the restaurant often is, and that was true tonight too. It must be the glut of other restaurants in the area because my lumpia petite egg rolls and pad see eew were both very tasty. There wasn't much in the way of service, but it was also a little cheaper than other restaurants so I was willing to excuse! Tasty and cheap are a good combination, so I'd definitely come back.
(4)Doreen D.
We've been going to this place for a long time. Because of their authentic Thai food. Last winter I was there with my friends for lunch and ordered a wonton soup and found a cockroach in our soup. I just had dinner with my family and all of us had stomach ache. They have good food but they aren't clean.
(2)Amoli P.
I was doing some Asian grocery shopping in the area and stopped by Thai Avenue for a quick lunch. The restaurant was empty but it was 3pm on a random Friday, which was not alarming. Thai Avenue does have a nicer and cleaner ambiance than many of the other "authentic" Thai and Vietnamese restaurants along that strip. I went with the basil stir fry and it was delicious. Flavorful sauce without being oily or too heavy on soy sauce. Fresh veggies and ingredients. I'd definitely come here again to try other items.
(4)Larry L.
An authentic Thai restaurant in Uptown that offers a clean and welcoming atmosphere to dine in. If you enjoy a seafood soup I recommend the Seafood Suki Oki dish.
(4)Ryan G.
Worse food ever.. high prices for 3 ounces of food. Ripp off place
(1)Seth S.
Food is great here. Pretty authentic and if you don't like it spicy you should mention that as most dishes are a little more traditional and on the spicy side. Service is good, it is always the same gal every time I've been there and she is very attentive.
(4)Sara A.
I took this home and it was really quick! The crab Rangoon was really good. I got the Rama Chicken and broccoli with rice. They didn't separate the rice from the rest of the dish so the rice was soggy at the bottom. I also found a piece of raw chicken...eeew! Once I heated everything up in the microwave it was fine. I was disappointed in the taste overall and won't be going back.
(2)William W.
I have been there two times in the past couple of months, both times the service was pathetic. There are too many good places in the area to put up with very, very bad service. BTW, it wasn't because they were busy: first time there were two tables being serviced and the second time maybe 4 tables. Inexperienced, mannerless servers.
(1)Agnieszka S.
I placed a carry out order and it was ready when i got there 15 minutes later! The food was really good! I loved the Basil Fried Rice with shrimp and pineapples. It was really flavorful! The Pad Thai was also very yummy and so was the crab rangoon.
(5)Elizabeth C.
I ordered delivery from here last night, delivery time was very quick especially for a Friday night. I was looking for some good pad thai and I found it. I live in the neighborhood and have tried pad thai from other places and this place is the best I've tasted so far. My only complaint would be it was a little light on the peanuts. My husband ordered the cashew chicken and also said it was light on the cashews but the flavor was good. Wasn't impressed with the pot stickers, again the flavor was good but they were a little dried out. Will have to try the egg rolls next time. I will definitely be ordering pad thai from here again, glad I took the chance to order from here!
(4)Monik H.
I LOVE Thai food and I happened on this restaurant when the restaurant I wanted to go to was closed. The décor is minimal but welcoming but the food is AWESOME! I had a favorite restaurant and this place puts their food to shame. You can tell everything is fresh and authentic and if you go during the week, you can order the lunch special for $7 and leave totally satisfied. The staff is very helpful and are willing to recommend things. I have tried about 80% of the lunch special menu and everything is super yummy. Plus they deliver too! And they have cute dishes special for the little ones so my daughter loves this place too.
(5)Randy S.
two bad experiences at this restaurant ... first visit we did not receive our order of shrimp salad and getting my entree 10 minutes after three of my friends received their entrees ... second visit we order hot tea at the start and waited and waited for 15 minutes and nothing ... the bad service is regrettable considering their food is actually decent
(2)Amy M.
Stuck with no idea where to go for dinner once my date and I discovered Tank Noodles was closed, we decided to go here as it was next door. My first thought? "It's 7pm on a Thursday night and there is not a single person inside. This is not a good sign". But then I noticed the "People on Yelp love us!" sticker on the door so I thought sure, maybe it'll be okay. Was I ever surprised! I decided to opt for chicken pad thai, citing that I was determined to find good pad thai in the city and had not found it yet. Well Thai Avenue, you won me over. It tastes exactly like my beloved thai restaurant that I lived next door to in New Jersey. It was the perfect saucy mix of noodles, chicken, bean sprouts and they did what no other thai restaurant in Chicago has done so far. They served it with a lime wedge. Instantly I knew, this is the thai place for me! My date enjoyed his pad see eiw as well, and it looked super delicious so I was a bit jealous. Overall, absolutely delicious and I'm so glad I live close enough to come here often. It's my new favorite thai place in Chicago.
(4)Mathew K.
Few times eating here and just overall good quick Thai food. The wait staff are always super pleasant...like any minute I just wanna get up and hug them. And affordable, always good. There are a lot of other great places in the area too, but for some reason I just come back for overall solid restaurant status.
(5)Victoria K.
Authentic and cheap! The tom yum kai is my favorite soup there. Nice staff, quick service and delicious food!
(5)Alex B.
A very good thai restaurant in a neighborhood otherwise dominated by Vietnamese places. They have the biggest menu of Thai restaurants in the area so if you're looking for something beyond a typical pad thai or basic curry, this might be your place. I'm a big fan of their pad kee mow and any drink with boba tapioca pearls. To be clear, this is located at Argyle and Broadway. If you're using the Yelp app, the pin location is off by a considerable distance.
(4)Samia G.
I went only once and won't go again I order fried combo the waitress there was so unfriendly and unhappy face, back to food placeabd plate gross me out, only 2 piece of shrimp and chicken and been uncooked glad I left before I finish the food other wise I would ended up with food poison
(1)Jing C.
Great little Thai gem in Argyle! The food is delish and very reasonably priced. Great for groups because the diversity of the menu is great for sharing and the portions large enough that for a group of 4-8, everyone still gets a bite of each dish. A good feature for those with dietary restrictions is that all of the noodles and curries can be customized with your choice of protein (beef, duck, shrimp, tofu, or chicken). Dined here with vegetarians and meat-lovers and everyone left full and happy. Break down of some of the dishes we've ordered (was recommended to me by a Thai friend so I've tried to stick to the Thai menu): Papaya Salad: Highly Recommended. Masterful blend of sour and spicy! Hands down one of the best 3 I've had in the US. One aside - if you order the option with crab, the crab is in the shell and smaller crabs so will require some work. Grilled Pork Neck: Highly Recommended. I know neck like it'd be iffy but the way it's prepared it has great flavors & texture Pad Thai: Highly Recommended. Bonus - get it with the shrimp if you're a fan. They use jumbo shrimp and it's well worth it. Pad Kee Mao: Recommended. Not quite as flavorful as the Pad Thai but hits the spot if you're looking for a spicy wide noodle. Red Curry: Recommended. Just the right amount of spice in a complex urry Banana Eggrolls: Recommended They've included this in appetizers but our group really felt like it should be a dessert. A delicious twist on a fried banana complete with a honey-glaze. Tom Yum Seafood: So-so. Order if you've got a hankering for tom yum but this fell short for us. Spicy but not really a wow factor. Golden Egg: So-so. A twist on egg foo young or an omelet but felt too home-cooking to me to justify eating out.

Very bad food. Worst crab rangoons I've ever had. Pad Kee Mao was a disgusting mess. Spent $23 and threw out most of the food. Not recommended!

Really average Thai food. Nothing to rave about and nothing to complain about. I'd recommend trying the crab rangoon and whatever you normally get anywhere else.

Love this place, lots to choose from, always pretty high quality and its usually emply I dont know why, I think its because of the overrated Tank Noodle next door. I usually get the seafood delight, so yummy and fresh.

This is my go-to spot in Argyle, and whenever I crave comfort noodle dishes. Clean interior, friendly service, blazing fast kitchen. Food is always steaming hot, made fresh to order and excellent. Love the stir fry rice noodle dishes.

Food is pretty good. I had the Basil fried rice and the pad thai. the portions were generous and they didn't skimp on the meat -not too little, not too much. At 7 bucks a pop, the entrees are priced well and tasted pretty good. it isn't the best Thai food i've had but it hit the spot when I didn't feel like firing up the stove to cook.
