This is my favorite sushi place in Chicago. They have AYCE sushi for lunch and dinner;) Sushi always fresh and tasty. If you like raw food you can try their Kiss On Fire and Tokoro Roll. If you prefer cooked food, I'd like to say Volcano and King Kong Roll. They service always friendly and nice. Also you can do party here for AYCE,

$22 for all you can eat and it's not a limited menu- so you truly can eat all you want, whatever you want. I ordered a few of the cleaner rolls- meaning no creamy sauces or tempuras, and where in other places, they can be bland, here I really enjoyed them. The Davis roll was my favorite, because I love eel, and it's well-sized and packed with flavor, without any additives besides the eel sauce, which is a little sweet. The Rainbow roll was also delicious, as well as the Fusion roll, which were both packed with fish and avocado. There weren't too many people in the restaurant as this place is fairly new, but with such a good offer, I'm sure the emptiness won't last. Service is pleasant and even though we had a large group, the food came out fast, and they were willing to split up the rolls among us, although this meant some of us had to wait longer for our food to come out than others. Order some apps in the meantime, they're part of the all you can eat menu! Or snack on the complimentary mini plates of pickled vegetables, nuts, and fruits they give you before your meal. Tasty and interesting and well-received.

My brother and I just got off work and we were starving. We drove by this restaurant and decided to try it out. We both decided to do the AYCE (all you can eat) sushi. My brother ordered 2 Spider Roll (his favorite) and 2 other rolls and I ordered Volcano Rolls (my favorite) and 3 other rolls. They were all on point and just so delicious! I'll be going here again for sure and this time I'll make sure to be extra hungry to do the AYCE again!

All You Can Eat (AYCE) sushi at a fair price ($21.95), great service, and lovely presentation! Plus, Sushi Tokoro is located closer to home than House of Sushi and Noodles or Sushi Para. FOOD. There were quite a lot of AYCE choices (including sashimi and appetizers). The selections you make are brought over in a large sushi boat. It even included a small, blue light to make the tray look more visually interesting. It's the little touches like that I love. The salmon sashimi, white tuna sashimi, and octopus sashimi were all simple and fresh. The makes (I forgot which ones we ordered, honestly) were all delicious. I wouldn't say they are exceptionally unique (e.g. Sunda), but they were well made. LOCATION: There was plenty of parking on a Sunday night (free street parking on Western on Sundays). Also, the restaurant wasn't too busy so my friend and I were seated as soon as we arrived for our dinner reservation. SERVICE. We were given menus as soon as we were seated, our water glasses were never left empty, and we were asked if we would like to order more food throughout the night. All of the servers were really friendly and helpful.

Not that great of an AYCE selection for sushi. Service was very attentive and met our demands. However, there was nothing special about the rolls. I am however impress that the fish on top is bigger than the amount of rice accompanied by it. Many places would have more sushi rice underneath the eel or salmon but for this place, it was the opposite. I was hoping for more unagi sauce to be drizzled on top of the eel. I came hungry and left full but not the good kind of full. I think what made it the worst part of my experience is how much rice was stuff in the roll (see images). I understand that you get charge for any piece that is not eastern but if a roll indicates that it is 8 pieces, it shouldn't be cut into 10 pieces. Just wanted to give this place and try and I don't think I wouldn't come back.

I love this place! I went here with 3 of my friends to celebrate one birthday and this place was the perfect choice. The place is big enough to sit quite a number of groups, very clean and well maintained. Oh, and it's BYOB! We all ordered the All You Can Eat deal for $21.95. All the rolls were fmade to order with fresh ingredients and the presentations were neat and appealing. The servers were attentive, friendly, and helpful. We left the restaaurant full, very happy and the another plus... They offer to give you a take out container for the rolls that you can't finish! I'll definitely come back:)

Sometimes rendering or determining how many stars I should give to a restaurant isn't based on an "absolute" scale. Apparently, you Midwesterners, or specifically, Chicagoans all know that all-you-can-eat (AYCE) sushi restaurants aren't part of Chicago institutions for food. With that being said, please have mercy on local restaurants that serve sushi or pan-Asian cuisines. I don't mean to sound sarcastic. For those who have travelled to Japan or grown up on the west coast of the United States, offering excessive comparisons and contrasts between what you used to have back home isn't going to help fellow Yelpers understand the fundamental concept of an AYCE place like Sushi Tokoro. Before commencing on my review, I encourage you all to revisit where "Chicago" is located. Students: is Chi-town immediately surrounded by either the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean? Please answer this in unison...No, teacher! Therefore, you most likely won't have the best-grade, freshest fish in the world, but what we had at Sushi Tokoro this evening were solid and appropriate for an AYCE deal ($21.95/person). We quickly browsed through the menu and realized that going with the AYCE option would definitely get our money worth with our level of hunger. We ordered three (3) rounds. I don't believe there's a "quantity limit" on how many kinds of appetizers, nigiri, and signature sushi rolls an individual can order at one (1) time, unless Mr. Kobayashi from Japan or Joey Chestnut walks in. Then the boss may have to be aware because God has given each of them an invincible stomach. I'm not Sonya Thomas, either, even though we are both Asians. We had edamame, miso soup, white tuna nigiri, shrimp nigiri, tofu skin nigiri, sea bass nigiri, salmon nigiri, avocado rolls, rainbow rolls, Boston rolls, spicy salmon rolls, and fancy salmon rolls. There were six (6) small side dishes on the house delivered by the lovely young lady server upon sitting down. The menu was as clear as it could be, indicating the number of signature rolls you would be getting per order, the contents of each signature roll, and any pertinent information you might want to know. The service was prompt and friendly. The dishes were picked up and the glasses of water were refilled in a timely manner each and every time. Often times places like Sushi Tokoro come and go in the city. However, I saw many regulars that the hostess seemed to recognize. For having been opened for eight (8) weeks, I would say they are doing quite well. I would certainly be back since the quality of sushi was decent with the AYCE option available for both lunch and dinner. This is also the closest place to enjoy the AYCE since it's located one (1) bus-ride away from my apartment. The CTA Western Brown Line station is a five (5)-minute walking distance south from Sushi Tokoro. While public transportation is very convenient, if you insist on driving and choose not to digest the sushi in your stomach, I bet paid street-parking can be feasible as well.

They have an AYCE but for those who want to try a couple rolls can order from the dinner special. I had the dinner special of 3 rolls, 2 sushi and an appetizer for $18.99. It was amazing, I had the dinner Boston roll, volcano roll and the California roll ( for my 8yo). It was the right amount without over doing it. And after they gave us a few slices of watermelon. Mmmm we will definitely be back.

The service, the setting, the food, location. All A+++ Right off of western paid parking in front or if you are willing to go for a slight walk right around the block there is free parking on one of the side streets. Conveniently located by a blue line as well as the Lawrence and western bus stops. This place is immaculate. Trendy and clean. Their food is completely up to par and they don't gyp you on portions. The display of the food alone will keep you coming back for more :)

This is our new AYCE (all you can eat) sushi spot in the city! It's $22 per person for dinner, which is very fair. Free refills on sodas for only $1.50 as well! Service was on point and was never lacking. Sushi Tokoro doesn't load up their sushi with rice, like other AYCE sushi places we've been to in the city, which is a pleasant surprise. The fish they used was also very good quality. Boyfriend loves nigiri, and his favorites were the white tuna nigiri, salmon nigiri, and the squid nigiri. I gravitate more towards maki rolls and our favorite was surprisingly the Volcano roll (which is deep-fried, even though it doesn't say on the menu). We also throughly enjoyed the Rock n Roll and the Crazy Tuna roll! We also special requested no cream cheese in our maki rolls and hand rolls of the spicy salmon! They will honor your request for hand rolls, but our waitress said it needed to be a maki roll with only six (6) pieces, which is fine, since we always get either spicy tuna or spicy salmon anyways. Appetizers: we got the shu mai (i love a good crab meat imitation shu mai!), gyoza and house salads. The house salads were loaded with dressing but was otherwise gingery and fresh! Our waitress brought out some traditional Korean banchan as "appetizers" as well. Next time, we'll be sure to stop by one of the many liquor stores around the area, as it is BYOB!

A new sushi spot one in the hood that we were dying to check out since reading it in Chicago Eater. Great lunch and dinner specials as well as an All-You-Can-Eat option for lunch or dinner. The place really clean with modern decor. We were given complimentary banchan (variety of Korean small dishes you will normally find at Korean BBQ restaurants) which was nice start with since we were starving. We opted for the lunch special combinations instead of the AYCE option since it was still early in the day. I ordered the 3 rolls and 2 pieces of sashimi combination (for only $12.99) - a great bargain. The sushi rolls were large and filling. Sashimi is a good way to taste the quality of the fish and I was not disappointed. The sushi here is legit and the service was friendly and very prompt. Great sushi with great service. I will definitely be back to try the AYCE!

My new favorite AYCE sushi place in the city! $16.95 per person for lunch, and we can order all the amazing nigiri rolls we want. They even gave us some banchan to start. We ordered gyoza and shumai as appetizers, and they were ok. I liked the miso soup, it wasn't too salty. Our table especially liked the salmon, white tuna, squid, eel, and mackerel nigiri rolls. The spider roll and Michigan rolls were not bad either. The service was superb. I liked how they kept checking up on us and giving us more hot tea. The orders came out a bit slow, but it's understandable.

Best all you can eat (AYCE) sushi I've had. They don't skimp on the premium rolls and they were attentive and quick bringing more rolls. No games of extra rice and skimping on the fish, just quality sushi at a fixed cost. The price was a steal compared to the cost of the rolls individually. I will be back, and soon as this may soon be my go-to sushi place despite passing many sushi places on my way to get here. There is little higher praise I can give than that.

  • Cat D.

The food - Much better than the average mid-range sushi joint, especially the AYCE places. Nigiri fish is fresh and flavorful, rice is cooked well and served at an appropriate temperature. Decent selection of rolls as well, though I wish there was a little more variety in terms of roll ingredients - something featuring hamachi or scallops would be excellent. I do salute them on the use of salmon skin though. Existing rolls are very good, and they avoid some of the usual AYCE pitfalls: they do not all taste the same, and they are not overloaded with rice. Banchan starters are fun, and come in an appropriately small quantity - doesn't feel like they're trying to fill you up on the cheap stuff! Their selection of to-order appetizers includes dim sum style sesame balls, which make for a nice dessert if you're in the mood. The rest - Service is very friendly and very quick, at least on the weeknights that I've been in. Very clean place, average decor, music is generally Pandora top 40 pop/hip hop, which I could go without, but you don't come to AYCE sushi when you need perfect ambience. Overall, great food at a great price.

This is definitely our new sushi bar of choice. My fiancé and I have been waiting for it to open and it was worth the wait! First and foremost the service was outstanding. That's so critical to a good experience. We ordered the all you can eat because we wanted to try everything. We ordered the Chicken Tempura roll, the Crazy Tuna, the Spicy Salmon. By far the crazy tuna was the best. It as the perfect blend of creamy and spicy. I highly recommend you get it. The Chicken Tempura was a new twist on a classic roll. Both my fiancé and I really liked it. The chicken is very savory and unlike shrimp you don't have to worry about a tail. You just pop the whole piece in your mouth and enjoy. We also ordered several pieces of classic nigari. The pieces were good size and very flavorful. My one complaint is they dress the fish and with the tuna the dressing masked the flavor. A good piece of fish has a flavor all its own and my opinion is it shouldn't be messed with. That one issue aside I really look forward to exploring the menu and finding many new and wonderful rolls. I am so happy to have a quality sushi bar in so close to my apartment. If you check it out you may just see me here!

I found the sushi to be very mediocre here. I stopped by for lunch on a random Wednesday and ordered 3 rolls off of their lunch menu. I was the only person in the restaurant and the rolls were made fresh to order. Even then the fish quality was unimpressive, and just overall average at best. I went with a spicy salmon roll, spicy tuna roll, and American Dream roll. I left most of the spicy tuna. The American Dream roll was the best of the bunch, mostly because it involved fried shrimp instead of average quality sushi fish. On the other hand, I also ordered take out hibachi a couple weeks prior and their hibachi is a great deal for a large amount of food that's quite tasty. If you're like me, and love hibachi without the mess of the whole hibachi show, Sushi Tokoro is perfect. The chicken was seasoned perfectly, crispy fried rice, and the sauces are great. For $10 on the lunch hibachi menu, I ended up with easily 2.5 meals. Service is friendly and the atmosphere is clean and classic. If you're dining in, the free banchan is a nice touch that I appreciated. I'll definitely be back, but only for hibachi, and mostly for take-out. For all you can eat, I'm sure the sushi is on par in quality with other AYCE sushi in this city, but I prefer quality over quantity when it comes to this cuisine.

came here with my cousin since we wanted to try out a new sushi ayce spot.. its a small and looks like most normal japanese sushi restaurants.. the service was great and the staff was friendly.. however, the sushi was just ok... the quality of the sushi here is just like any other typical sushi buffets.. a little too much rice and the options on the sushi doesnt seem as great as some other places.. i do enjoy alot of their appetizers tho.. yes i know.. the filler items..haha

This review is for carry out and delivery only. I haven't dined at Sushi Tokoro, yet, but I have enjoyed either delivery or carry out from them on multiple occasions. When it comes to delivery, Sushi Tokoro has been top notch, so far. My orders have always arrived early, and the delivery person has always been very nice. Most importantly, my order has been correct every single time, even when I've made special requests. Even in delivery containers, the food is always beautifully presented, and I really appreciate that for rolls topped with sauce, the sauce was delivered on the side and clearly labeled. I've tried a little bit of everything (sushi, sashimi, appetizers, salads...you get the idea), and I haven't been disappointed, yet. Everything has been fresh and tasty. Prices seem about right and are comparable to other places where I've either eaten or ordered from for delivery. Is this the best sushi in the city? No, it isn't. It is a pretty solid choice if you are looking for lunch or dinner, though. Yes, Sushi Tokoro is primarily an All You Can Eat place (dine in only, of course), but I've found it to be better quality than similar sushi places. It has had the best delivery service of any sushi place that I've ordered from so far, so I'm a fan and will keep ordering when I'm craving sushi but am too lazy to change out of my pajamas and leave my apartment.

I went to this place yesterday with my friend to taste my very first sushi. The place was empty but that might be because we came there at around 2 p.m. The interior is pretty nice. The waitress was very welcoming! Because it was a lunch special, we got a free miso soup before our meal. We also got the appetizers which were extremely yummy! It was my first time trying kimchi and it was definitely worth it. Then, we got 3 rolls for $13. I don't exactly remember what we got (spider roll, Philadelphia roll, and the spicy crab roll maybe??) but oh boy was it good! Right when I tasted all of them I knew I will be coming back. I fell in love with sushi because of this place! After we finished eating, the waitress gave us some watermelon (which was also for free). Such amazing costumer service definitely needs a good tip. The only parking available there is the one where you have to pay. There is also a western bus stop right in front of the restaurant (which can have its pros and cons). The Brown Line is close to the restaurant too so location is definitely convenient. You can also visit the Lincoln Square while you're there since it is very charming on its own and it is a walking distance from this restaurant. All together, this place was definitely a highlight of my experience with Asian cuisine. I highly recommend it!

Friendly service and fresh sushi! The AYCE price is fair, and they also have a nice lunch special where you get any 3 rolls for only $11. Delicious miso soup. My husband and I also enjoyed the hibachi entrees.

I came with a group of 9 friends on a Saturday evening for dinner. We were immediately seated and the restaurant was pretty empty to my surprise. Based on the previous reviews, I was expecting a very long wait. However, the food came out much faster than I expected (probably around 15 minutes after placing the order). They did not pack the rolls full of rice like other all-you-can-eat sushi places I have been to, which was a huge plus. The fish tasted fresh and the food was quickly eaten. I will definitely be back for more!

This is a good place if you are really hungry. It is all you can eat for $21. and it is BYBO. I liked the Fusion Roll and the tuna rolls. I did not care too much for the "spicy tuna" which was kind of a paste with tuna in it. The service was great considering the fact that the waitress would continue to bring things out until we couldn't eat any more. It appeared that other tables were ordering massive amounts of sushi and I bet a lot of food goes to waste. Not the most artful sushi place but still pretty good if you enjoy the flavors more than the presentation.

Amazing sushi! The place is new, fresh, and clean. Their sushi hit the spot. There was enough filling inside the rolls (not like those places where there is only rice to the sushi) and the rolls are a good size. They also have an AYCE lunch special for $16.95 as well as a dinner menu for that as well. The only downfall is lack of free parking in the area. Although it won't stop me from going there again.

Came here for all you can eat sushi. I was a fan of the menu variety but I think we made some poor choices. Everything had crab in it. Not much variety once you started eating. Might have just been what we ordered though. The fish was fresh and the rolls I liked were flavorful. Be careful, the appetizers are pretty big portions so don't fill up. Service was friendly and attentive.

Having this place next door is dangerous. I work at the Mattress Firm on the corner and eat here almost every day. Not only are they good they have great lunch options and have delivery. Want a new lunch spot give it a try.

I eat sushi all the time. This place is definitely better than past AYCE experience - but still, it is a place focused on price. On the basis of a bargain, yes, this is a decent place to get sushi. They give you a nice selection of banchan to start, it's BYOB, and it's clean. For ourselves, we would rather pay more and get bigger/better pieces of fish.

  • Minh D.

Great place for sushi. I like getting their AYCE sushi, it is available both during lunch and dinner hours. Unlike many AYCE places wherein they tend to pack in usually more rice than the typical amount of rice on a piece of nigiri sushi. Here the amount of fish and rice are well balanced. Fish has always been fresh.

Great new sushi restaurant. Really friendly staff and high quality ingredients. The owner/front end manager made a great impression. Price is pretty inexpensive compared to most other places in tr neighborhood. Definitely try the Broadway roll!

First of all, Where the heck are all of these 5 star reviews coming from! Apparently, no one has gone to the other fabulous sushi places Chicago has to offer (a la Ora). This place is a bust. It's your typical all you can eat sushi restaurant. That.....is......it. Nothing phenomenal or BEST EVER about it. I also could be jaded because it took over an 1 hour to get our first round of rolls and then another 1 hour for our second round. Each sushi order had random rolls that we didn't order. I would say pass on this BYOB and go to one of the billion other ones the city has to offer.

Accidentally ended up coming here two nights in a row and was very happy with my experience both times. Got the AYCE dinner deal and I really have no idea how they're going to stay in business with that, because the nigiri and rolls were very fresh and tasty, with a totally reasonable ratio of fish to rice, and the AYCE menu was almost as large as the regular menu. We didn't eat ourselves sick or anything, but we certainly got more than we paid for. BYOB capped off the, "Wow what a nice, cheap night out!" feeling. Service was extremely friendly and the ambiance was hip and pleasant. As I said to my dining companion after the second night, I've paid more for better sushi, but I've also paid more for sushi that wasn't as good as the stuff here. Would definitely go on a night I wasn't feeling flush with cash, but wanted some decent sushi.

My wife and I came here for the first time to celebrate our anniversary and we were not disappointed. We both agreed that it's the best AYCE sushi joint in Chicago that we've tried. The staff are very friendly and courteous and the sushi is great for the price. One thing that we particularly liked was that they didn't go heavy with the rice for the nigiri (as is often the case with AYCE sushi joints). We definitely won't wait for our next anniversary to go back again.

I have friends in the immediate area singing the praises of this place, especially since they no longer have Tank Sushi in the area (the replacement IS coming soon) and do not frequent Rolls 'N Bowls for various reasons. Waiting for a late dinner, I decided to have a single roll to try out and see if this is worth my time. In comparison to other sushi places, even others with an All You Can Eat option, I find it to be sub-par. I decided to try the Kiss on Fire roll and also ordered a Ramune bottle I saw in their cooler which I spotted while sitting at their sushi bar. Confusingly, my server brought me a glass full of ice and a yellow liquid. She said it was their own Ramune that they refill at the restaurant... It didn't taste bad but next time I'll just get a Coke. The roll arrived and I was surprised by the level of heat. I've had spicy tuna minced with jalapeno peppers plus a habanero sauce in Hawaii and it wasn't nearly as spicy as this. The slices of jalapeno peppers topping the Kiss on Fire were about as thin as my thumbnail so it must be whatever was inside their spicy tuna (which was also minced to near paste-like levels). The heat overwhelmed any other flavor of the roll but I did notice how mealy the rice was which didn't give it a pleasant texture. What disappointed me the most was the cost. After tip, I spent $19.88 on a single, 8-piece roll and a "ramune" drink for only about 17 minutes of my time in the restaurant. The All You Can Eat option on the menu is $21.95 per person before drink or tip (their printed menus have the increased price as opposed to $18.95 on their website). That's ridiculous. Additionally, I noticed on their brand new, plastic menus that their Tuna Tataki appetizer has been crossed out with a black marker and "Tuna Tartar" sloppily wrote in instead... I've had worse and I've had great (Union in River North is my favorite in the city). Sushi Tokoro is towards the bottom but knowing my friends, they'll want to go for All You Can Eat and that is the only time I will be back.

I love this place! Honestly, you can't really beat the price either. The food tastes fresh, price is right, food is great and the owners/managers are really really nice. As another fellow helper stated, the miso soup is a nice touch! I will definitely continue coming here!!!

My friend and I were excited to try out this fairly new AYCE sushi spot, and it did not disappoint! Sushi was fresh, and it was a nice touch to have free side dishes (like a korean restaurant). The restaurant was quiet when we got there (around 6pm on a Saturday) but we did notice larger groups making their way in by the time we were done. Service was very friendly, I'll definitely be back!

I've been here twice with my fiancé since it opened and he's been back twice more with friends. Every experience has been enjoyable and delicious. I'm not a seafood fan so I appreciate having good chicken options while my fiancé gets his nigiri fix. They brought small plate appetizers to the table as part of our dinner and that was an unexpected treat!

  • Globe W.

Not sure what all of the other reviewers ate. almost all of the fish we had was dry. Only the salmon was decent. If you have to go, stick with the maki that has some non-fish ingredients. Service was good. The appetizers were edible. sushi was just terrible. Despite living just a couple of blocks away, I won't be back.

Decided to give this place a second chance and do takeout after work. Food is still very meh. Seriously, there are way better options around the area. Even Rolls'n'Bowls is better than this joint. Nothing beats Ora in Andersonville. But whatever...if you enjoy mediocre, run-of-the-mill sushi...tokoro is your place. Blah.

I'm sitting here now, in a party of 4. We placed our first order at 7:00. Half our first order arrived, and the two folks who did get their orders said theirs was pretty good. After another 30 minutes, the rest of our order didn't arrive. When asked, our server said they must have lost the rest, but offered to let us order more, since it's all you can eat. That was an hour and fifteen minutes ago. Two of us have been here since 6:30 and only been served miso soup. We asked again, and our waitress asked if we'd placed an order yet. Everyone has been very nice, and our waters have been refilled consistently. But it's not much use having a restaurant that serves "all you can eat" if they don't actually make food. Edit: Had to leave, with the rest of my party still at the table. Second sushi order hadn't been started 15 minutes after we were told "three to five minutes." The table next to us also hadn't been served anything but apps after over an hour. When I told them to take me off the check, they stopped me to tell me I'd had a miso soup (two hours earlier) and instead of the all you can eat price wanted me to pay for the soup (included in the AYCE price). The two tables behind us were seated after us, served several courses, and paid their tabs without me getting anything I ordered. Maybe it was just our server?

I love a little all you can eat sushi place! I love it even more if it's BYOB. That said, I'll definitely be back to Sushi Tokoro. It's a cute little spot in Lincoln square, but they do a great job of containing the atmosphere of the restaurant so you're not distracted by what's going on outside. There's no corking fee, the service is phenomenal. PHENOMENAL! Very accommodating and very sweet. The sushi is fresh, prepared very quickly and I can say the same for the appetizers. Try the veggie tempura, the sweet potato melts in your mouth! The all you can eat menu is pretty long there's lots of options. But also the rolls on the regular menu are very reasonably priced. To top it all off, the playlist will have you movin' in your chair. Great little dinner spot!

All you can eat, quality, delicious sushi! Lovely assortment of complimentary appetizers, and creative maki creations. The staff is wonderful, accommodating, fast and warm. Had lovely birthday lunch a few weeks back. This is my new go to sushi spot, replacing the defunct, Tokyo Marina with a bit more style and taste.

Roomie and I ordered delivery the other night and were totally satisfied. Maki was fresh, unique and tasty. Sauces that would normally be drizzled over the rolls were put into small containers and a handwritten not telling us which sauce goes with what roll. Cute! Also, functional, especially for the one roll with tempura on top-didn't get soggy! Got a free bowl of miso with our order--nice touch for a new restaurant competing with the rest of the sushi places around here. Delivery guy was super sweet and fast. Will definitely order again!

My boyfriend and I decided to try this new sushi place around our neighborhood out. We belive in supporting local businesses. It is a new restaurant in the area and everyone gave this place a five stars. So, we wanted to see how good this sushi place is. The deco inside is nice and modern and it gave me a eco friendly kinda of feeling upon walking in. We decided to do the ayce. The fish was OK, not bad but it wasn't great. I gave it a three stars because the service was super slow and we spend two hours on a Tues night waiting for our food. I understand it is a new business and they were totally short staff on a Tues night. There were at least ten table waiting for their food and only two sushi chef were making sushi. I would come again next time when I have more time to spare.

All you can eat? ! I thought, ok let's do this but really it wasn't needed. This place had great lunch and dinner deals that will get you more than enough good- unless you're a pro eater. Byob. Nice service. Quality of sushi is pretty good. Sweetheart roll is my fav so far but not on any deal menu. I'm a weekend night this place gets packed to be prepared to wait even if you get take out.

Coming from a sushi lover, this will be a complete honest review! There are rarely any good sushi places that serve as a buffet in Chicago. I occasionally went Sushi Para (Lincoln Park) and House of Sushi (which is now closed because they are merging with Wasabi). When Sushi Tokoro opened up I heard NOTHING but good reviews about this place so I had to try it. I went on a Thursday night with some friends and it wasn't busy at all. The atmosphere is very lively and calm at the same time, they also got an awesome playlist playing. There was an AYCE menu and regular menu but of course we chose the AYCE! The AYCE is priced at $16.95/LUNCH ~ $21.95/DINNER. They have plenty of choices on their AYCE so we wanted to try some of their rolls. We ordered and they offered a few appetizers on the house and they could be re-filled as much as we wanted. We also ordered miso soup which comes with the buffet because you can never screw up miso soup lol. Our sushi came out presentable, the rice to fish ratio was good and the fish was fresh. I just hope the quality of the sushi doesn't go down once they start getting busy. As for the service, the mangers and servers were really kind and quick. A big part of judging service is if their able to keep my glass of water full which is exactly what they did. They always checked up on us. This kind of service isn't found at Sushi Para. OVERALL YOU MUST GO HERE.

First time I like Tokoro, but now.. I always order "all you can eat", and they don't bring your whole order every single time when I was there. I order 3 Philadelphia, got only 1, order home salad did not get at all, order 6 pieces eel sushi, got 4 ((( and this is not first time. Me and my friend were very disappointed. One young waitress is always unfriendly. Need search more professional sushi cafe now. Don't think will come back, tired to tell that I did not get my full order. So bad, you guys getting worse and worse

A great addition to the neighborhood! I'm not a sushi fan, so I can't comment on the quality or taste of their fish (plenty of other reviews on that), but the Hibachi Chicken was excellent! The portions are truly american-sized, so one order is good enough for two people to be well-fed. Ingredients were high-quality, fresh, and tasty. You will like this dish - full of that great, bold hibachi flavor. Restaurant is nice, clean, friendly, warm, fun, and inviting. The scene is very much casual, group night out with friends or family - not really a date place (then again, this was the weekend so maybe during the week the atmosphere is more suitable for a quieter romantic night out). Staff was super friendly as well - nice people. Check it out! It's truly a fantastic addition.

Great sushi joint. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Rolls were tasty and fresh. Shrimp and scallop hibachi were delicious. Price was good. I'm moving out of this neighborhood in three days but I'll be back for Tokoro.

This place still has great fish, but I had to knock a star off because they got our AYCE order wrong twice :( Still tastes good, but I want to get the actual items I really wanted.

I decided to check this place out 2 weeks ago for the AYCE sushi. We went for late lunch (~3pm) so we were the only ones there. Service was great! They kept coming by to check up on us and refill our waters. Price was very reasonable-$16.95 per person for lunch. The AYCE menu is not that big but it had everything you really needed. Before our sushi came, they brought over several side dishes which was a nice touch. The nigiri is by far my favorite! The fish is really fresh and the rice to fish ratio was on point! It was quite a surprise to see that the piece of fish was bigger than the rice beneath, haha. This place is my new fave AYCE sushi place since they don't load up on the rice like other places do (ahem). Parking is also a lot more convenient than other restaurants! There are plenty of street parking nearby. Definitely recommend checking out Sushi Tokoro for AYCE sushi!

I had the sushi lunch with any two rolls, $8.99. The restaurant was almost empty so I ordered right away. Before I even noticed, I had gotten complimentary appetizers on my table: peanuts, seaweed salad, pickled radish, miso soup etc. While I was still enjoying the appetizers, I got the rolls I ordered, Alaska & spicy tuna. They were delicious and the plate was beautifully decorated with flowers. The staff was very friendly, although I was a little annoyed by how often they came to check my table when I was still eating.

  • Clara R.

I think was okay for other dishes but the sushi nigiri And sushi rolls are not that special, it was decent, the food came fast and the service was friendly. Prices are reasonable, about average for a sushi place. They have a sushi buffet for about 22 dollars. Open late, BYOB.The parking can be tricky.

Very fresh fish better than wasabi cafe. I am very happy I found this place. It is also affordable 16.95 per person. The people who work here are nice and provide good service. You write a number next to the items on a paper and they bring it to you.

For an all you can eat sushi buffet, it wasn't bad. Just what I expected a place that offer all you can eat for $21.95. The food quality is on par and the service was on par. You're not going to fall in love with the food or rediscover your love of sushi. Service was erratic. For example, we brought white wine. They brought two wine glasses but didn't open the bottle or bring an ice bucket to keep the wine chilled. When I asked for an ice bucket for the wine, I got the most confused look from the waitress...so I had to say it again several times and even had to point to the ice bucket on table next to us. Still, she needed several more description before she finally said, "oh, you want an ice bucket"...

Nothing good comes with an all you can eat sushi buffet especially when the sushi is not fresh. I got some rolls that smell a little gamey. The service is not the best. Be sure to eat all of it because they don't want to waste any food and will charge extra accordingly (respectable).

Incredible! Sushi Tokoro is awesome from the start. We've been here already twice in one weekend! The staff is super friendly and very attentive. For being such a new restaurant, the staff seems like they've all been here for years. The sushi has come out quickly during both visits, and they plate everything uniquely and in curated designs and plates! Definitely stop by if you're a lover of sushi. Prices are very reasonable too, pretty much the best sushi prices in Lincoln square! 5 stars.

This is such a delightful little sushi spot. We came early on a weekday afternoon and had great service. For less than $20, we got an appetizer, 3 rolls, and two pieces of sushi. This was more than enough food for two people. Plus, the complimentary small plates before the meal and the watermelon slices afterward really highlighted the quality of the place. Our only issue was that our waitress seemed to hover a bit, but I chalk this up to her trying to do a good job. The place is BYOB and their all you can eat menu is around $22. Overall, we had a delicious, filing meal and attentive service. Will definitely come back!

Just moved a few blocks south of Tokoro and was eager to try them out (with a friend I was in the USAF with in Japan). Was glad to find they have all-you-can-eat for dinner AND lunch and that they're open for both 7 days a week. Didn't go for the all-you-can eat...did one of their dinner specials instead which was a bit cheaper and more than enough food. Definitely going back!

Too many fat people ordering all you can eat. Expect an hour wait for your food. Too bad, Lincoln square needed a sushi place. Won't be coming back.

Terrible!rice was dry, fish was not fresh. We both had the all you can eat for dinner so we tried 9 different rolls and nigiri. The rolls were mainly rice w a tiny piece of fish, there was so much rice it was hard to dip in the soy/wasabi sauce. Never again, going back to my favorite spot in Andersonville.

First off, the service is great! Both times I've been here, the waitresses have been very attentive. Although I have only been here for the all you can eat sushi buffet, this place is one of my new favorites! The lunch menu is quite small, so I always ask for the dinner buffet menu instead. They start you off with complimentary appetizer dishes - and I think it's very cute! They don't have much appetizers on the menu, but I love the ika yaki and the gyoza! The sushi is fresh and is not loaded with too much rice. However, after your second or third plate, you may notice there is a bit more rice than the first plate - which happens at most sushi buffets. I have only been here in the afternoon, and it was quite empty then. The place is not too big, giving it a nice atmosphere. I do not know what the service is like when it gets busier, but from my experience, I think this place is great!

Having had sushi from quite a few places now I definitely can distinguish the good from the bad and this place passes the test. The vibe of this place is very modern with bright decor and a wide band of colored light stretching around the place. The sushi quality ranges from good to great and the presentation is excellent. The service is almost too attentive. When you tell them you need a minute to order be warned they take that literally. An assortment of small plated appetizers come with their lunch/dinner which surprised me because generally this is a Korean restaurant thing rather then a sushi joint. Still it's a welcome suprise and really adds value to an already well priced lunch special. About that special, It was $12.99 for 2 rolls (which you can pick from about 16 varieties) and 4 pieces of sushi. That works out to about $4.50 per roll and $1.00 per piece of Sushi. That's not bad at all! I think my only let down was that the All-you-can-eat lunch/dinner prices are on the high side for what is included. The varietiey of sushi and appetizers that come with the all-you-can-eat menu is lacking here considering the price. I'd still prefer Wasabi Cafe for All-you-can-eat. It's slightly more pricy, but the variety is better. Overall great place though and I'll definitely be coming by more often since I'm in the neighborhood.

What a great sushi place! Not normally my style (my style=pricey) but a solid dining experience despite the reasonable prices and charming decor. Not fancy, but there are glowing lights in the walls that change colors!!! It's BYOB which I didn't realize until I decided I wanted a drink, but luckily just a block down towards the brown line is a liquor store with a modest selection. I got back from my liquor run to find an assortment of small dishes of salads and various snacks waiting for me. The rolls where fresh tasting and definitely did not lack in flavor. There was a beef soup my friend had that I will be getting next time for sure, very juicy and flavorful. To top it all off the wait staff was genuine and attentive and just generally adorable!

I might need to move out of the neighborhood so I don't spend all my money here. My boyfriend and I love AYCE sushi places, but this is by far the best one we've had so far in Chicago. Very clean and pleasantly decorated with cool mood-setting LED color fixtures. The fish is fresh and the price includes much more than the basic rolls you'll find at other AYCE places. I especially appreciate they don't have a limit on how many nigiri pieces you can get. The yellowtail and red snapper are my favorites, nice and simple. The davis roll is fun, and I think their spider roll is perfectly crispy. Bonus points for the complimentary appetizers and BYOB.

Wow! Can't believe no one has commented on the NOISE levels in this place! This rating is for the in-dining experience. The food is "a-ok," have had better in other places (ie Katsu) but not, as other noted, for the price. But back to the NOISE levels, we visited last night, a Friday eve about 7:30pm. It was crowded but not packed, we were seated right away. Cute decor but no acoustic treatment whatsoever, all hard surfaces, we could barely talk....because we could not hear each other across the two top table. Our waitress also had trouble hearing us, and brought me sashimi instead of sushi. (Even though she would bend down to be very near us while we ordered.) Might return on a weekday or just consider them a delivery option. I like to be able to have a conversation while dining out without having to yell.

Finally made it to check this place out with my friend Sunday about noon. We were excited but skeptical about the AYCE sushi. Totally worth it! It looks like they put attention and care into making each roll, not just throwing out some food on a plate for AYCE. They even have some hot apps and salads included on top of the little dishes they bring out for you before you order. The spicy tuna roll could've been a little spicier, but that's me. Also, I didn't want to leave food on my plate (says there's a fee) so I ordered the Spider roll, thinking - oh, it's only 5 pieces. Well, they stuff that roll with tons of soft shell crab, so if you want to try that one, get it early before you're too stuffed to finish it all. (I somehow managed to) I will definitely go here again. For a sushi lunch deal, it can't be beat!

  • Lika S.

Food is ok. Not bad, not great. Nigiri is a little heavy on rice but fish seems fresh. I wish the servers knew their menu items a little better and checked the plate before bringing it to a table. They are trying to be nice but the lack of knowledge is a big disappointment. BYOB is a plus. Not sure if it's good enough to go back there

I've been waiting for a "true" sushi place to open since Tank Sushi closed. There's a few places around Lincoln Square that serves sushi as an aside, but none that really just focuses on sushi. The interior is completely new and incredibly clean. The wall lights may be a bit too much, but other than that the decor was modern and simple. Sushi Tokoro doesn't have quite the 'date night' ambiance that Tank Sushi did, but for a true all-you-can-eat, it's the perfect place to bring a group of friends. I ordered one of each type of nigiri offered. The fish tasted fresh, served at the proper temperature, and everything was delicious. The mackerel from a lot of other sushi places (especially other AYCEs) usually taste very "fishy" and have a really strong acidic flavor, but Sushi Tokoro's was clean and crisp, a testament to the quality of the fish. Same goes with freshwater eel -- Tokoro's had a certain "crispness" to it where you could taste the barbequed parts, compared to many other places that have it frozen, defrosted, and served "mushy" soaking in unagi sauce. All twenty pieces I ate were fantastic, and the fish to rice ratio was ridiculously generous. Seriously, for an all you can eat at roughly 22 for dinner, that averages out to a dollar and some cents a piece. That's an incredible deal. Lin, the owner, was prompt, attentive, and very friendly. He also was pretty funny, joking with us and a few of the other guests. He offered a delicious green tea (I believe it was a genmaicha) as well as korean-style banchan (small-plate appetizers) of various pickled vegetables. My only fear of how well this restaurant is received thus far is that I'll have to fight the crowds that come on the weekend, but until that happens, welcome to the neighborhood, and please stay as long as you'd like!

I used to go to Sushi Para anytime I wanted to eat my body weight in sushi. However, I recently discovered this place and thought the quality was much better! The fish is bigger, fresher and the rice is served in an appropriate portion. This place might become my new regular spot!

My fiance and I went there after finding out there is a 45 minute wait for a near by new sushi place. What a great find! It is a casual place, but still has a little Asian charm/feel to it. Would be a good place for a casual date night. We decided to go for the ALL YOU CAN EAT sushi option. Usually, when you think of all you can eat sushi, you think the quality is probably lower. The sushi is actually pretty good and fresh. Service was good as well! The waitress provided us some extra condiments and took our orders quickly, We had 3 rounds of sushi in 50 minutes. We didn't know it is BYOB. You can't beat that. I would definitely go back again.

I ordered delivery from this place on grubhub. The delivery was quite quick for sushi. The sushi was very tasty, fresh, and good value for the price. This will be my new go to place for sushi delivery and I'm looking forward to dining in and trying the AYCE approach.

I love the sauce that comes with the sushi. Ordered the Dinner Special with the King Kong Roll & Davis Roll, 6 pieces of sushi and vegetable tempura appetizer. Nice clean decor inside. Could do with a better music selection and get rid of cheesy color changing rope lighting. Very friendly staff. First visit, sushi was extremely fresh. Second 2 visits, not as fresh.

Saw that this place was going to open a couple months ago and once I found out this place was open I had to try it out! Had to go for the all you can eat dinner special they had. Although their price was a couple dollars more than other all you can eat buffets, it was very worth it! They give you complimentary snacks while waiting and the portion sizes were huge! The sushi was very fresh and the presentation made the plates look appetizing! What I also love about this place is their reputation for customer service. The second time I went with my boyfriend, we got there about 20 min before closing and once we walked in, they insisted we pick a seat and get served. Other sushi places we've went to, even 45 min to close, would never do that or would rush us with our order. If you're very hungry and love sushi, I'd recommend this place!

Our law firm is close to Sushi Tokoro and we are regular customers. The restaurant is very pleasant and the service is great. The menu has vegetarian dishes, which I appreciate. The food is very, very good. Highly recommended for a nice dinner with good food.

Been here three times and the first two were a pleasant experience. We always did the AYCE and the sushi is fairly fresh. There is lesser rice used than other places, which is good. But today I had a not so good experience. Since we were there around lunch hour noon, I understand that it's busy. So what made me irritated was the fact that we were served after people who came in after us. There was this table of cops who came in after us but received their food before us. That was very discriminatory of them. Not to mention we waited almost an hour to get ours. There were only two waiters and two chefs. The owner should know better and hired more help. This costs them their service. I think I will take a break from coming back here again. There are many more options in the city.

I was surprised of the good quality. I am not an AYCE Sushi person but this place was really fresh with good preparation. You get full quick and lots of great options on the AYCE menu if you aren't a Sushi fan. Something for all and Service was good.

I ordered the all you can eat sushi lunch. It was delicious! It is by far the best sushi I have eaten in the area. The staff is very friendly. It was not too busy when I went in by myself to eat at the sushi bar and one of the servers had a conversation with me. You can order all the nigiri you want which is what I love. The fish is good and taste fresh. The Davis Roll was great. My friends ordered the Hibachi and said it was delicious as well.

Good but not great. The all you can eat sushi for $16.99 lunch is a good bargain even if it is from a special menu and not the main menu which means things like the tataki and many rolls are not included. The fish is fresh, however, but lacking any real spark. On the individual sushi pieces although not overloaded with rice like you find some places do not contain that dot of wasabi under the fish for the spark you expect. Even the spider roll had only one tiny drop of eel sauce so lacked the special flavor. All in all good sushi but lacks the special taste I was looking for. The restaurant is new and beautiful inside with lots of seating room and our service was spot on, no complaints

Dinner tonight at Sushi Tokoro was a wonderful treat. We live nearby and noticed it open recently. It will definitely become a staple. It's a Japanese /Korean blend. Small plates at the start and habachi grilled entrees from the Korean side to go along with excellent sushi. We ordered the sushi dinner-$18.99 for 3 deluxe rolls plus two pieces sushi and an appetizer. Our favorite was the fusion roll with shrimp tempura, sea eel, tuna, and avocado. We also ordered a mixed grill habachi dinner which was an enormous amount of shrimp and chicken with fried rice, veggies, salad and soup for $21. This is quality plus quantity. Lots if leftovers for lunch tomorrow. I asked chef/owner Lim how he does it and he says he hopes to keep selling a lot of volume. They get fresh deliveries daily. Only been open 1monrh so far. We saw a group of about 15 young twenty-something's there, enjoying all you can eat sushi on beautifully decorated boats and the place seems very well suited for this type of group. We picked up the catering menu too. Will order delivery for the weekend march madness games. Welcome to the neighborhood sushi Tokoro.

So excited about this place! In my experience, all-you-can-eat sushi and/or byob sushi has typically been a red flag. Not this place! It is the first exception to the rule I have ever encountered. They do not overpack the rolls and nigiri with rice to accommodate the lower price. Everything is fresh and oh-so yummy. I felt bad for the sushi chefs as they were SLAMMED and there were only two of them. This did not compromise the quality in the least. It was a little slower service, but frankly, I was amazed that they were keeping up at all because the place was PACKED and everyone was definitely taking advantage of the all-you-can eat option. I just felt bad that they were working their asses off non stop, as well as the servers. My husband is not a sushi fan and got the cooked salmon and was blown away. Everything was delicious.
