Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

My sister had her wedding reception here December 6th... and the whole day especially the reception was so lovely and beautiful that I will: A) have to get married maybe 10-20 years from now just so that people either die off or have a higher probability of forgetting her gorgeous wedding & reception 2) get married in a completely polar opposite fashion, i.e. in the summer, outdoors, catered.... or maybe Vegas??????????? d) make my future fiance plan the wedding so that at least I can blame him if things go to $h!t.... But seriously I cannot imagine how any Chicago wedding could be more beautiful! Here's some highlights: the price was VERY afforable... as my sis's maid-of-honor I had a sneak peak of her frugle budget as well as the amazing accommodations Salvatore's had for any budget range... you will have a gorgeous former 20's hotel space that was converted to a romantic restaurant within the last few decades furthermore specializing in wedding receptions (it's a Ggrrrreeeat! space to say in the least)... the feeling of wedding in a large hotel room with the fake wood floors for dancing (accompanied by a some cheesy DJ) feels beyond typical (barf)... but you won't get that here as there is a beautiful bar/dancing room, a spacious L-shaped dining room (with the L-leg being the opened pasta-vino room), a corridor bar-room (pasta-vino bar), a lobby with a beautiful grand piano, an outdoor patio with seating and lighting (and you can rent heaters if it's cold), as well as an outdoor garden with a fountain (probably more enjoyable when it's warmer)... you can get lost in any room... listening to the cello-piano duet during a delicious dinner, hearing the live big jazz band jamming in the dance room (great acoustics), getting a photobooth picture in the setup next to the large bar, smoking a cigar on the patio, sipping on a hard drink (ah and the drink package was inclusive for the WHOLE NIGHT, WOWSER)...take a look at their floorplan here: salvatores-chicago.com/f… ... whatever you imagine Salvatore's will surely be accommodating to see that you have your dream wedding reception! If you want outside food here as well (aside from dinner that is... which dinner was amazing I wouldn't have opted for somewhere else if I even had the choice myself!) you can have your cake made somewhere else and bring cookies and such for your dessert table. They catered the midnight snack of grilled cheese, mini-brie-n-raspberry tortes, and meatballs and such so everybody was sure to leave full and satisfied! Best of all was AMRA... she was friggin DOLL... she made planning so lovely and sweet, even when things seemed crazy she was cool, collected, accommodating, encouraging, and proactive. For instance, I had last minute decided to play a song after my maid-of-honor speech - I gave Amra the CD and said I needed her to start playing on the cue of a particular sentence. With her sitting two rooms away, I feared maybe she'd get distracted there, maybe a chance she'd forget (it happened over an hour later after I asked!), BUT NO, she was ON CUE! Because we all know that if you play the laugh track a minute after the joke the moment could be lost! Amazingly, 75% of the room shed tears to the song I played after my speech, music PERFECTLY on cue, but I couldn't have done that without Amra in the background following through! After dinner we had 2 performances... one ballad by my brother on the piano, and another solo acoustic guitar tribute from my talented cousin. Beautiful. Not only the performances were stealing, but the way the host captured everyone's attention when different performances were going on was important for everyone to be on the same page enjoying everything. I've been to a handful of what I thought was gorgeous weddings, including one at the top of the Sears tower... but this reception venue tops any I've seen before! SoOOOsoooooo CLASSY. I still here lovely comments on how beautiful my sister's wedding was. I will need a WILD imagination to figure how I will some day top that!

We had our wedding reception at Salvatore's, and had a great experience! Through out the planning process, Amanda and Suzi were very responsive and worked with us to accommodate everything we wanted for the reception. The space was beautiful, and we fit 130 guests very comfortably. On the day of the wedding, we got a millions compliments on the food from our guests. The service was excellent and the whole night flowed very smoothly. We loved everything about our reception, and wouldn't change anything! Highly recommend having a wedding at Salvatore's!

This is not a real review, but I feel obligated to write it because I'm pretty sure the folks at Salvatore's are "connected" in some way. I mean, I'm a pretty sassy gal. I buck convention and always question authority, but I quietly nodded my head and obeyed every time one of the waiters gave me a stern look or pointed their finger at me as if they were saying "don't mess with us, Missy, or you'll sleep with the fishes!" Of course, I don't know this for a fact and I'm not trying to slander anyone, but the staff at Salvatore's knows how to keep people in line. Even me. On to the review... I recently went to a wedding at Salvatore's and they did a nice job. The ceremony was held in the dining room and then we adjourned to another dining room and outdoor patio while they added tables and chairs to the area where the ceremony was held. This was an appetizer wedding and the waiters made sure that everyone got some food and the things that I tried were delicious. The bartenders were very nice and no ones glass ever went empty (which is no easy task when you have a bunch of Irish and English people in the house!) I really enjoyed the outdoor patio. It was secluded and had a real "back yard" feel to it. Also, the restaurant itself is tucked in a nice little area of Lincoln Park, which makes it feel very homey and exclusive. The folks at Salvatore's do a lot of weddings and it shows. They ran everything like clockwork.

I've attended many weddings, not only in Chicago, but all over the US and I've got to say, from start to finish, the experience I had a Salvatore's was among the best I've been to. From the beautiful setting, the attentive and well above average service, to the amazing food, I feel that the entire crew at Salvatore's have the wedding game down pretty well. I would have no problem attending another wedding here and would go as far as to recommend it as a site to anyone who would listen to the very positive experience my newly married friends and their attendees had at this beautiful event.

My friend recently had her wedding reception here. The space has a charming and quaint grandeur about it. Its multiple rooms make it easy to coordinate cocktails, dinner, dancing, etc. It was all so seamless and effortless. Wait staff was on top of their game too. There is also a beautiful, secluded back patio should you require a moment to escape. Pasta dish (the vegetarian one served at this wedding at least) was heavy and kind of bla - my one and only quip with Salvatore's. Overall though, it is an excellent choice for a wedding reception venue.

I had my wedding reception here on December 1, 2012, and I can honestly say that it was the day of my dreams! Salvatore's was very helpful throughout the process; Suzi and Amra were a pleasure to work with and helped to answer all of my questions (and there were many) in a very timely manner. For a Chicago venue, a reception at Salvatore's is very reasonably priced, and it was great to know that I didn't have to worry about a caterer, tables, chairs, linens, etc. - it really is a one stop shop. I had so many people remark to me how great the reception was, how much fun they had, and how unique and "Chicago" the venue was. Not to mention - the food was absolutely out of this world!
(5)Kate T.
I just had my wedding reception at Salvatore's a few weeks ago and I can not say enough about the experience. Working with Suzi and Amra over the year I was engaged was so easy and they were so informative and accommodating. They were lovely and understanding and patient with my every question. Salvatore's has such an old world charm and was just GORGEOUS on our wedding night. Our guests have not stopped commenting on how classy and beautiful the venue was and the food was great too! In a city like Chicago you have a million choices on where to host your reception. However, if you are looking for classic and elegant Lincoln Park for your city wedding, Salvatore's is the place for you!
(5)Maria P.
My husband and I have visited Salvatore's a handful of times within the last couple months and we can't wait to go back. Since they are only open Thursday through Sunday, it's hard to find a time when they are open and not hosting a wedding. The food is fresh and delicious. My husband loves their veal dishes, and repeatedly tells me that they are the best he's had in years. They have great bruchetta, their house salad is perfect with their enjoyable house dressing, and their pastas are outstanding. It's obvious to me that they have been in business for years for a reason. They definitely know what they are doing! The decor is wonderful and very old world charm.

I recently attended a wedding reception here and the venue is absolutely fantastic. The dinner was family style and we enjoyed several pasta dishes and chicken piccata. Overall the food was excellent for a wedding reception. Ohh and there were also some pretty tasty appetizers now that I'm thinking back. Delicious bruschetta and a spread of calamari so large I could swim through. The bartenders could all mix a mean manhattan and the dance floor was the perfect size for this medium size wedding crowd. The bride and groom opted for a live band which really helped bring out the charming setting of Salvatore's. I can only hope that more friends choose to have their reception here so I don't have to crash some strangers' wedding.

I have been really torn about what to say in my review because my wedding was truly fantastic and I do know that Salvatore deserves a lot of credit for it. But on the other hand there are many little things that got to me when planning the wedding and I know that I would want to know if I were a future bride planning a wedding. I will break this down into pros and cons. Pros: - Such a romantic space and was perfect for the amount of people I had ( I had 140 people at my wedding) - Great wait staff , lots of food, good pricing for its location - Everyone keeps telling me how magical my wedding was (I think Salvatore's can take credit for this comment in regards to the space, the food and the open bar package I had. I think the comment also refers to my band, dessert table, flowers, rabbi and linens which was separate from Salvatore's) - The coordinator Amra recommended the amazing band I used ( standing room only) and in general the coordinator knew how the wedding timeline should be planned out. - The wedding went super smoothly (the staff knew what to do) and the coordinator put out extra candles on my cake table and dessert table. - They let me have a dessert table where the food came from other places and they set this up for me Cons: - The coordinator doesn't always reasons so quickly to emails and phone calls, sometimes she did not respond at all. I had a wedding day coordinator I hired who actually stated she had never seen an onsite coordinator respond so poorly, prior to the wedding. However once you get a response they are helpful and make it seem like you asked a very easy question with a quick solution. - I couldn't trust the onsite coordinator to make sure everything was going right and everything was on time. Trust me I would have loved to not hire a day of coordinator however several months before the wedding I realized that the day would be very messy if I didn't have a separate planner. As you will see in other reviews Salvatore's onsite coordinators can virtually be invisible during the event. I definitely did notice this at my wedding and that is why if you choose this venue and don't wasn't to have stress you really need to have a separate day of person. I saw my wedding coordinator talking to the band, my rabbi, the delivery people, keeping tabs on the time line, Q-ing everyone down the aisle Ect. And during all of this I had no clue where the Salvatore's coordinator was. In fact the Salvatore's coordinator didn't even say a word to me during my wedding. - I didn't really deal with the payment side of the wedding however I know that my mom had an issue with the bar being open during dinner and there was also an issue with the fact that they charge for the venders meals and don't let you use the left over meals they made for your wedding for free. - They are vey fussy with the timeline and making sure it is always in there favor. Overall would I recommend this venue, yes because you will truly have a terrific wedding day there. However I would not place a lot of faith in the coordination staff and I would also read your contract carefully.

We got married here and it was fantastic. Friendly staff, helpful planners, affordable city venue, great food, great location. I have no regrets about have a wedding ceremony and reception here.

I just had my wedding at Salvatore's last month, and it was just wonderful!! I had my ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all at Salvatore's, and it could not have worked out better. I'll first say that Amra, one of the coordinators there, is a total doll. Every single time I have met or talked with her, she has been friendly, helpful, and willing to work with me. Suzi is the other coordinator, and while she is ok, she isn't quite as much of a people-person I would say. That being said, she was very helpful as well. Salvatore's is very competetively priced...for the city. If you come to the city looking at wedding venues and think you're going to find a place with suburban pricing, well you're got another thing coming to you!! We paid $84 per plate (*discounted* because it was in the winter), and that included the appetizers, dinner, cake, and top shelf open bar for 5 hours. The food is delicious, and much more unique and better than food you'd get at a standard hotel or banquet hall for a wedding. The cake I hear was very good, but I was too busy making the rounds at tables to get a slice! They do offer valet parking for guests, and we chose to cover that cost for everybody ($15 per car)..and everybody really appreciated that because it's very hard to find parking in this area. The only negative was that Arlington Pl. (the street) was completely torn up on the day of our wedding, so people had quite a bumpy ride in! We also opted to provide our guests with coat check, and covered that cost as wel ($1 per coat). In total, we ended up having 115 guests and it was perfect for the size of Salvatore's! Not too scarce, yet not too crowded. The waitstaff at Salvatore's was also amazing..very polite and friendly, and I didn't hear about any spills or crashes :) Salvatore's was also able to fit a head table in that fit a total of 11 people, and that everybody in the restaurant could see us. Everything was just perfect for our little, intimate, Italian-like wedding...if I had to do it all over again, I would choose Salvatore's again in a heartbeat!

Bf and I went there last year for vday. Food was awesome and it was very cozy. Def try this place!
(5)Jennifer R.
Attended a friends wedding here on Saturday night and was so impressed with the staff. There was one particular bartender named Roberto who was phenomenal. He would have our drinks waiting for us before we even got up to the bar. Now that is customer service!
(5)Greta T.
Wanted to write a follow up after my wedding... It was even more magical than I could have ever imagined. Everything was perfect. My guests were floored at the vintage charm and intimate dining experience. I wish I could go back and do it all over again! My husband and I will be returning for our anniversary dinners for years to come!
(5)A S.
Tara, Amra, and Dean were a pleasure to work with. The menu and prices were pretty much set- it was all about liking the food or not, and we LOVED it! Our guests even commented that the pasta and chicken dishes were absolutely tasty. We enjoyed doing family style for our rehearsal dinner so that our guests could casually interact with one another. The ristorante setting and decor of the restaurant were also perfect, as the place is set in scenic Lincoln Park.

Its taken me a year to get around to writing this review. I have such mixed feelings about it. I had my wedding in this spot and the wedding/reception was beautiful. The food was great and the wine was excellent, my guests all had a great time. One of the coordinators at Salvatore's however, almost ruined the day. From the start she was very rude and disorganized. I would get contracts with incorrect prices (higher then discussed of course) and she seemed bothered every time I asked a question or showed up at the restaurant. She was even rude to a few of my guests on the day of. Luckily after she get the wedding started she disappeared and we didn't have to be burdened by her horrible attitude until we were leaving when she was in full b*** mode kicking us out. I loved my wedding, but I will say we didn't go back for our 1 year anniversary. It may take a few years.....
(3)Eric M.
I attended a friend's wedding reception here and it was great. The ceremony was set up very nice with a simple and elegant decor. We were then moved to a cocktail room which had great, fast bar service and nice appetizers. During that time the ceremony room was transformed into the dining room and it looked fabulous. I knew I would love the place when my table already had a cup of grated parmesan waiting for me. Our servers were quick and helpful. I'm not sure on the price but I had a great time.
(4)Karman L.
I was here for my friend's wedding reception last weekend. Excellent place for a small wedding reception. They have the whole place. We first had a cocktail hours-great drinks!!! I like the little outdoor patio!! Then we had dinner in the main dining area. The food was excellent - I had the filet mignon and my bf had the salmon....they were both cooked just right! They have a separate room/area for dancing after dinner. It is just big enough for people to move around...and for people to hang out closer to the bar area. The service was pretty good....staff was helpful
(4)Carrie M.
Amra and Suzi were great. We had a great time at our own wedding, something many told me was not possible. It was easy to have such a great time when Salvatore's took care of everything for us. They worked very smoothly with our Coordinator and all of our other vendors. The food was great, just as good as at our tasting, the service staff was attentive and friendly, everything was perfect.
(5)Nancy H.
This place must be a big hit for weddings! I came here for a wedding brunch, and the setting was beautiful! Lots of dark wood and fancy linens. There's a room off to the right that started off as the cocktail hour location then turned into the life of the party where a live band played music and encouraged a lot of guests' participation for the typical wedding games; a good sized room for dancing. The main dining room is where the tables are. I don't remember the food much, but it was basically buffet style with eggs or salmon, salad, and assorted sides. Because of the separate rooms, you can't eat and watch people dance or hear music at the same time. Parking it a little difficult since the streets are so narrow in this area, but they do offer free valet for weddings. Overall, it boasts an intimate atmosphere on the fancier side for 100 or so guests.
(4)Kristen S.
We had our wedding reception here, and have dined only one other time. The service was excellent and the food is very good, very authentic. Our wedding reception was perfect - the atmosphere is romantic and very classy. The service again, was excellent, and the food was great. We paid for valet parking for all of the guests at our wedding, but we usually spend a lot of time looking for parking when we come here to stop by for dinner. My husband doesn't "do" valet for some reason. Haha. Anyhow, I can't stress enough that the atmosphere, service, and food are all worth a stop at Salvatore's. The only star lost to this great establishment is because the Event Coordinator here can be quite rude, and even tried to change the pricing conditions on our contract at the last minute. I found her to be unprofessional at times and I was embarrassed that she treated my wedding coordinator so rudely.
(4)Sarah S.
I just came here for dinner one night and was not at a wedding. The food was amazing. I had a salmon pasta dish that was to die for. My boyfriend had a chicken thing, but I wasn't paying any attention since I was so into my own food. He loved it. We were extremely impressed. The service was excellent and the interior is so cute. I would love to go to a wedding here actually...
(4)Rachel H.
I came here for a wedding reception on Saturday and thought it was a beautiful setting for a small intimate wedding or other event. The layout was great and the service was top notch. The food was pretty standard wedding fare, but not bad. I had a chicken dish with a mushroom sauce and my date had salmon. Extra points to the bartender for making a high impact Manhattan and a very refreshing bellini.
(4)Jill W.
We just had our wedding at Salvatore's on September 18th. The place is beautiful and that was our number one reason for picking Salvatore's. We got so many compliments from our guests about how unique and pretty the restaurant was. We definitely did not want to go with a normal banquet hall and were really pleased how our wedding turned out! The food was really good (we also got compliments on that as well) and the service was really good. It was also reasonably priced when you compare it to other places in the city. The only complaint I have is that while Amra was so helpful and easy to work with, Suzi was not as good. We dropped our stuff off two days before the wedding and went through everything with her. Still they lost our cake topper and until I insisted she look for it, she was doing nothing about it. (She did find it btw) She wasn't as attentive as I thought she would be and because of that I was very happy that I had a day of wedding coordinator. As other people have said, I don't think Suzi and Amra communicate very well with each other because my husband waited a long time to get an itemized bill. Also though I sent Amra a detailed floor plan when we got to the restaurant on the wedding day, that floor plan hadn't been followed and we had family sat in the back of the restaurant! Overall, we were very happy with Salvatore's. The place looked amazing and the food was great! It is definitely a unique location. My only recommendation is to have a wedding day coordinator or make sure Amra is there for your day!
(4)M M.
I had my wedding here in May 2010. Amra and Suzi were incredible to work with and the night could not have been more perfect. They paid attention to every single detail that I requested and knocked it out of the park! My guests have not stopped talking about the food. I would highly recommend looking at Salvatore's for anyone that is looking to have their wedding in the city.
(5)Joyce L.
Our family could not have been happier with the great food, courteous servers and other staff who assisted Amra - this young lady smoothly coordinated our daughter's ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing so that our photographer, pianist, florist, bakery, band - you name it - could all play their part beautifully to create an absolutely magical wedding for our daughter and hew husband. Salvatore's was also very accommodating so that our daughter could add her personal touches to make it the fun evening she wanted her guests to have. We were able to just enjoy and dance the night away.

I went here for a rehearshal dinner and thought this place was very elegant and well kept. They have great Italian food. The atomsphere of the restraunt is very quiet and romantic -- a great place to go for a date :)
(4)K S.
This place is amazing! I just got married and had both our ceremony and reception there, everything was perfect! Beautiful room, fantastic food, great servers and wonderfully helpful staff!! If you are looking for a place for your wedding, definitely look at this place!!! Everyone who attended our wedding commented on how beautiful and perfect everything was! They also

Do I have anything bad to say about this place?? Negative! It's charming, has plenty of character, outdoor patio (!), in the middle of the city, and DELICIOUS food. We had an event there and boy was the service amazing! I'm still hearing compliments about it. The prices were very reasonable, the ladies that help to coordinate there were always quick to answer emails and calls, and the places needed close to no decorating because it was already beautiful! If you need a no-fuss event space, take a look here. But be quick, they're booked months in advance for weddings and birthday parties!
(5)Melissa C.
We are considering Salvatore's for our wedding reception. We went here for Mother's Day with my fiances family to try the food and show them the place. The service and food were excellent! They had a brunch buffet set up for the holiday, which contained both breakfast & lunch/dinner items. Everything I ate was great. Our visit here impacted our feelings for the place in a good way. By the way, when we came to Salvatore's for the first time to look at the place, one of owners parked my car for me when she saw I was having a terrible time trying to parallel park. I know they would treat us like family if we choose to have our event here. Updates to come!
(5)Tammy Q.
Total disappointment when I came here on a Sunday night. The wait staff was not attentive at all. We had to wait nearly 10 mins after we were done for them to see that we needed the check, after asking them twice. I ordered the pasta primavera which was bland, to say the least! My friend ordered the tortellini and that was not good either, considering it had a cream sauce to it. The best thing on the menu was the bread that was served to us as we waited for our meals.
(2)Jonathan A.
Wow, I almost forgot about this place. Just had dinner, no wedding. Good Italian food, but very rich. I was satisfied. More than I would normally spend for Italian though.
(3)Stephanie D.
Salvatores is tasty. We went on a Wednesday evening for their BYOB night ($5 corkage fee). The place was quiet- only us and one other couple planning their wedding reception. The service was top notch and the food was delicious Italian. It also was not as expensive as I anticipated. The dishes at near-by Basil Leaf Cafe are heartier and more authentic...but Salvatores wasn't bad at all. Check out their website for drink/food deals during the week. Just a note...I used to live thisclose to Salvatores and you could frequently hear wedding receptions on weekend nights. Impossible to sleep with drunk guests laughing and shouting during smoke breaks.
(4)Heather H.
We had our wedding reception here last August and I can't say enough good things about Salvatore's. The staff is very helpful but the best part is the setting. It's very romantic and perfect for a wedding of 150 guests (or less). There is an adorable outdoor patio for smokers, and I loved the way the dance floor was in a seperate room off to the side. People who wanted to visit could sit in the dining room without having to talk over the DJ. Guests told us that it was some of the best wedding food they've had simply because it was served hot (unlike some buffets). All the decor you need for this gorgeous setting is flowers. If you're looking for a place to have your wedding reception - get on the list here! You won't regret it. It also photographs beautifully.
(5)Ellen M.
This was our wedding reception site and we returned for our first anniversary dinner. It's a gorgeous place and the food is quite fine. Everyone remarked what a great wedding it was - we had fun too! When we had our dinner for two later on, it was romantic. Awesome hospitality. For events, you get better value at places like Maggiano's, but the food and atmosphere make this place worth the extra money.
(5)Jennifer J.
We had our wedding reception here, and it was wonderful! It's a great setting for a small/medium sized wedding, I believe it only seats around 170. The interior is beautiful, with the dark hardwood, black & white checkered floor, it's very classy and elegant. The food was amazing (and we got many compliments from guests). Of course we're biased, but some of the best food we've had at a wedding was here. The service was top notch, and the only lost star is due to one of the event coordinators. There are 2 -- one is super nice and friendly and the other is an uppity, rude, snot. I won't mention any names. The rude one was working the night of our wedding, and I'm pretty sure she never put our candy buffet out, yet lied to us about it. Water under the bridge at this point, but nevertheless, rude. Overall, they did an excellent job. We couldn't be happier with our wedding reception here, and our guests all agreed!!
(4)C H.
My husband I had our wedding reception here in July 2014 and I can't begin to explain how much we loved it and our 160 guests loved it! We looked at several venues, and the location, ambience and price at Salvatore's really stood out from all of the other venues we looked at in the City. It's got a great old Chicago feel, different than a standard banquet facility, and they have clearly been doing what they do for years. The set up and service were flawless. The staff was easy to work with along the way, they were flexible with us when we wanted to do things a little differently and the food was absolutely wonderful. We received so many compliments from people on how beautifully set up it was and how delicious the food was. My only caution would be to make sure you know what's included. Compared to all of the other vendors we worked with, the language in their contract is pretty vague, make sure you know exactly what is included. Overall, I'd recommend this to anyone looking to do a wedding in the City, we were very pleasantly surprised a what we got for our money here!!
(5)Stephanie S.
We had our wedding at Salvatore's in April. It was the absolute perfect venue! Salvatore's is one of the best values in the city for a wedding without sacrificing quality. The food was amazing, we continually get compliments on how good it was. We did the Extravaganza Package, which is their top package and includes everything from cake to champagne to a 5 hr premium bar. Suzi and Amra are great to work with. They are so laid back, but also super organized. This place runs like a well oiled machine. They do so many weddings and events, they really have it down to a science. The day of the wedding Suzi was attending to our every need. As soon as I walked in, she was getting me a drink, letting me know how everything was going, etc. We dropped off all our things (escort cards, pictures we wanted out, accessories, guest book, etc) a few days before. They set everything up exactly like we wanted it. They are super responsive and answer the phone when you call. I usually emailed and they got back to me within the hour most times, but definitely same day. The actual space is so beautiful. I really liked the 2 separate rooms because people who wanted to talk could sit in the other room while our band played. Overall, I would highly highly recommend Salvatore's, they went above and beyond for our event and totally exceeded our expectations. We get tons of compliments from people still about how great our wedding was. Definitely A++

My husband and I had our wedding and reception at Salvatore's August 2011. We liked the location and it accommodated the smaller wedding we were having. I had anticipated giving Salvatore's a 4 or 5 star rating. Ultimately, they earned 3.5 stars. The food and waitstaff service were great. The wedding plan coordinator was severely lacking the day of the wedding. I had a "day of wedding" timeline written out with Salvatore's and the coordinator was MIA during the entire event. I saw her once when she spread out my train as I was about to walk down the aisle with my father and never again. My husband and I had to drive the timing of all the events of the day (cake cutting, first dances, packing up) with family and friends which was very stressful. The only thing that saved it was how highly organized we were. I don't mean to be overly harsh because we would get married there again if we had to do it over. We were simply very disappointed in the "day of" service of which we paid a 20% required tip plus an additional tip to the coordinator (our choice and we weren't aware of some of ball dropping until days later). It really negatively tainted what should have been a lovely and carefree day. Sadly, we haven't gotten any followup from Salvatore's to ask us how it went or to thank us for our business. After spending thousands of dollars, I think a handwritten note or even a call or email would be appropriate.

I just attended a wedding here. The bow-tie pasta with vodka sauce was one of the most delicious pasta dishes I've ever eaten... & I've even lived in Italy! The biggest drawback was that there was no parking on site. Salvatore's has you park a block or 2 away in the parking garage for Children's Hospital on Clark for free. Having to walk in the January night weather in our heels & little dresses was not fun. I liked the dark ambiance of the place, especially in the dancing area & cocktail area. It made it cozy, and not awkward like a lot of big banquet dance floor set ups can be.

We got married at Salvatore's this past Sunday, and it truly was the day we had always hoped it would be and more: 1) Fantastic venue - our guests are still complimenting us on our choice of ceremony and reception. 2) Amazing food - no wrong choice, but we went for the Wedding Extravaganza Package including 4 hor's douvres, individual plated dinner service including a choice of three options (do go with the fillet). The cake was included and it was from Rolf's Bakery - tasty! 3) Friendly and professional staff. Everyone of our guests left impressed. 4) Amra and Suzi were both amazing - thanks again ladies for making sure our wedding celebrations were such a great hit!!!!!

I wish I could give this place negative stars. The restaurant was almost empty on the Friday before Valentine's day (should have clued me in to how much this was going to suck). The restaurant was freezing. We asked for the heat to be turned up and in response the owner turned the music down. Wtf. The wine was ok but overpriced and the selection was crap. The waiter didn't seem to understand how to answer a question about the menu. The oil on the table was rancid. The food was mediocre to bad. My entree was manicotti and it was so bland and watery that I sent it back. If something is made of noodles and cheese, it has to be absolutely terrible for me to send it back. My boyfriend's food was just ok, and tiny/overpriced. After we sent the manicotti back, no manager or owner came over to see if I wanted anything else. The owner was busy sitting on her ass eating dinner with her friends and didn't seem to care about the customers at all. And her boots were ugly. The restrooms were kind of dingy. I am so confused as to why people are giving this place such high reviews. It felt like a funeral parlor and the food was like ash in my mouth. response to owner's comment below: -My review is not being made with "malice." It is true and it is my opinion. -The olive oil was rancid. It was. I don't care what you say, it was rancid. I tasted it, and it was rotten. -The manicotti was absolutely the worst manicotti I have ever attempted to eat. It was dry and flavorless and the sauce was extremely bland. Olive Garden's manicotti is ten times better. -The boots were ugly. I'm allowed to comment on what I want to. Basically, she was not dressed professionally and I thought it was inappropriate. -I will state whatever opinions I want, thank you very much. -I did not think your staff or restaurant was anything approaching "wonderful." -My boyfriend already tried to go complain the night that we ate there and he was brushed off completely.

Our daughter had her wedding there about 4 years ago....and it was WONDERFUL....the setting was perfect; the food was excellent (just the tasting several months in advance was a great meal); the several rooms worked out great...bar / dance floor separate from the dining; other rooms also...all great....follow their lead on stuff like a DJ etc...they know their stuff.... good thing....reasonable (very) pricing versus the downtown hotels....

I have been meaning to write this review for a while now. My wife and I had our reception at Salvatores earlier this year and it was perfect. Suzi and Amra were awesome and the venue is excellent. All the guests loved it and I would highly recommend checking it out if your are getting married in Chicago.

I had my wedding here. It went so smoothly. Amra was such a help, perfect day of wedding coordinator. The outside courtyard where we had the wedding was so well groomed and everything was perfect. The food was AMAZING. All my guests loved it. Not a single word except for amazing. They use Rolf's for the wedding cake and I give them so many kudos because it was also delicious! I loved Salvatore's and anyone who gets married here will be completely satisfied. 100%

I say this is a 3 - A-OK. My guests say this is a 4 - They are fans. When we first went to visit, we were generally impressed. The place requires little decoration because it is so nice inside with the mirrors and dark woods. The patio is lovely. We spent most of our time with Amra who we also generally liked. We decided to hold our ceremony here with a lunch reception and rent out all of the rooms. We put down a deposit and came in for a tasting. The food and cake were quite good. We decided to go with an open bar tab. All prices were extremely reasonable. Occasionally during planing, it was hard to get a hold of the staff. Sometimes it was tough to get the answer to a question we asked. The coordinators share one email address and I was never sure who was sending me the email and to whom I was replying. I was a little nervous about our plans being nailed down - the place obviously holds many weddings and I just wasn't convinced that the details would work out the way we had discussed. A lot of little things weren't documented or communicated well. I hired my own coordinator to handle the day-of details. I am glad that I did, because I think we had too much going on for just the Salvatore's coordinator to handle. The day of, there were a few things that bothered me. We opted to move the ceremony inside from the patio because it was raining so hard - our coordinator had a little bit of pushback from Salvatore's about this but it they finally got it done. Champagne was set out for each person (I had asked that sparkling grape juice be available because half of our guests do not drink). They asked us to cut the cake during salads, before lunch was done. The courses weren't timed well (salad took forever but main entree was short). We dropped off our stuff (programs, favors, baskets, vases, guest book, etc) the day before and Suzi questioned my fiance and opened every box inquiring about it's contents and why we were dropping it off (Amra told us it was fine to drop things off the day before). Communication seems to be a little bit off between the coordinators themselves. Most importantly, there were other people there checking the place out for their own event DURING OUR CEREMONY. I find that completely unacceptable, especially since I had provided a detailed schedule of when and how long the ceremony was. This should have been completely avoided. Additionally, the person that "called us a cab" walked up to Clark to call the cab and then rode back in it - a charge on the cab that we had to pick up. I would have just called one myself. As I stated, we opted for an open bar instead of a bar package. We were still required to pay a deposit on estimated alcohol. In the end, we had money refunded to us for this because our total was less than the "95% estimated deposit." I know this isn't a huge deal, but it meant that my dad had to go over the paperwork after the reception because we couldn't just pay a bar tab. It was just unneeded confusion. On the flip side, my guests were unaware of the problems and loved the place and the food. They thought everything went smoothly and had a good time. They thought everything was beautiful and perfect and we have had nothing but compliments since the big day. I give Salvatore's credit for only stressing/inconveniencing only me and not my guests.

Wow, a lot of people have had their wedding receptions here! I went to a holiday party here for my work. I don't mean to offend the establishment or any one who has had that special event here, but I cannot give it more stars do to the "little buddy" who joined us at the dinner table. Our little buddy was the cockroach that had stowed away on the underside of the butter dish and ended up on our table. When my finance went to pass the butter to one of my co-workers our little buddy Mr. Cockroach bolted from under the plate, across the table and dove under the radiator... This is actually the second year that we've had our holiday party here, the food is okay at best, but the service is decent and the private dining room and bar is nice. Cleanliness in the kitchen is obviously a huge concern of mine now, and if we pick this place again for next year I may reconsider my attendance.

My fiance and I knew we didn't want to get married in a conference room, hotel ballroom, or anywhere with sliding dividing doors - we wanted something unique and intimate and reflected the city of Chicago and Salvatore's was the PERFECT venue for our big day! First of all the price - b/c that's the first thing on your mind when you're wedding planning - the price is right at Salvatore's! We were determined to have a city wedding but the hotels were expensive as you can imagine - Salvatore's is very reasonable for the quality of service and food and the beautiful venue! Friends had told me I needed to hire a day of wedding coordinator but that's not necessary with Salvatore's - Suzi and Amra will take care of you from the moment you book throughout the event itself. Suzi was SO attentive and on it - she asked me if I was ready for my flipflops after hours of dancing, she fixed my bustle once, she arranged for my wedding party to have the passed appetizers since we missed the cocktail hour - I was SO impressed with them! I didn't have to worry about getting my presents the night of my wedding because they locked them up in their office overnight along with my bouquet and some items from our trolley. Lastly, Suzi and Amra have GREAT relationships with their vendors - everytime we'd tell our photographer, dj, etc. our venue they were very familiar with the space. The food is ridiculously good and we opted for the family style Italian - everyone raved about it and the servers would bring more platters as needed - the veal tortellini is worth the upcharge! The servers were very attentive and nice! We had an open bar for 5.5 hours and the wine, champagne, liquor options were above average for weddings I think. The venue is super cute and intimate and doesn't need too many flowers. We didn't want a 4 hour dinner - we wanted people to get out and dance so it was a great setup for our night. I love Salvatore's - would recommend it to anyone. I'm looking forward to returning on my anniversary for some veal tortellini!

I was here this past weekend for a wedding reception where I was the photographer. Nice that they have a valet (since you can't park anywhere near there without a permit), but valet costs $15! I thought the place was rather small, especially for the number of people that attended. Not sure what the capacity is there but felt extremely cramped both in the dining area and dancing area. Food was only okay.

We recently had our wedding here and everything went perfectly! We had so much fun with family and friends that day, and being able to do everything at one site was such a plus. Amra was so helpful through the whole planning process, and the smooth wedding day showed just how good of a job she did. The food and ambiance of the place was excellent. We would definitely do everything the same if we had to choose again. Another big plus was the place has so many different price-points depending on the type of wedding so we were able to easily find something to accommodate our budget.

I was married at Salvatore's on July 4th, 2010. This is a beautiful, classic place to have a reception. My guest raved about the food the entire night! Suzi and Amra are two amazing ladies who are exceptionally accommodating! They went above and beyond for my wedding, and will recommend them to all!

I came here for a Mystery Dinner held by another company. I won't talk too much about that because it has nothing to do with Salvatores except that it was held here and Salvatores served the food. The building is beautiful. It is in a beautiful location. The staff is sooo nice and accommodating. We did have one grumpy old bartender in the downstairs bar, but the other ones were nice and made up for his bad attitude. I assume he's just old and crotchety. I won't hold it against him, Life will do that to a person. The food is really good here! I was surprised! I like the design of the place, and it has a really welcoming feel and layout. I would consider throwing an event here.

Just celebrated my sister's 60th Birthday at Salvatore's. It was fabulous!! Beautiful setting, incredible food, impeccable service. I am going to cook up an event just to be able to host it at this lovely Chicago restaurant!

I'm writing this review as a shopper who considered this venue for my wedding and ended up going with another option only because a venue in a hotel was more accommodating to our grandparents, who are 90+ years and already coming from out-of-town. However, I still wanted to write a very positive review for the venue because of how helpful and professional Amanda was while we were doing our research with her and trying to come up with packages to fit our budget. Salvatore's was extremely accommodating to all of our needs and requests. They were really open to our ideas, especially when we were planning a wedding in a relatively tight time frame. Finally, I think the location and the space are a hidden gem in Chicago, especially when a lot of venues charge thousands of dollars just to rent the space - with no food or even furniture included! Salvatore's is definitely not part of the American wedding industry racketeering scheme. Very competitive prices without compromising on elegance or quality. Please check this place out as you are doing your wedding shopping! The people are so nice helpful.

I recently had both my wedding ceremony and reception at Salvatore's and can't say enough how amazing it was! It was the first venue that my now husband and I looked at we knew right away that it was the place for us. From the very beginning, Suzi and Amanda were so helpful. They provided us with their preferred vendor list and we were able to select our photographer, florist, DJ, and officiant. It was so easy! The space is beautiful and the food is incredible! Many of our guests said that the food was the best that they have ever had at a wedding. Please try their Tiramisu as it is some of the best that I have ever had. We decided to not do a traditional wedding cake after we tasted it! It was the best day of my life and Salvatore's and their staff were a huge part in making it perfect :)
(5)Penny D.
I was contacted by Salvatore's and told that it was not true that their entrees were prepared with MSG. The person answering the replied confused MSG with gluten free. There entrees do not have MSG. I am changing the stars to 5 and I have no reservations about anyone having a reception or enjoying dinner at Salvatore's.

I had my wedding and reception at Salvatore's. To keep things simple I will do a list form: Pros 1. Suzi and Amanda are great. They are always thinking ahead, and are extremely well organized and prepared. 2. the food is delicious - which is INCREDIBLY important when trying to feed a large crowd. I highly suggest the tortellini casalinga. 3. The venue is fantastic, it has charm and didnt feel like a banquet hall. 4. If you cannot afford many decorations - thats ok - this place looks great without it. Cons 1. the only thing is the fact that it is on a funky one way street - not that big of a deal, but a pain when heading there to drop things off etc. Thank you again for everything!

Salvatore's is one of Chicago's top wedding venues.... They have everything a couple needs and/or could desire. They have a wonderful atmosphere, outstanding food, and a highly experienced and professional staff. Essentially, you received 5 star treatment from a 5 star venue. Suzi & Amanda are experienced, assertive, and exceptionally friendly. They know all aspects of their venue very well. They truly function as the wedding coordinators, as hiring a 3rd party coordinator becomes excessive and truly a waste of $. If any potential brides are reading this, please trust in Suzi & Amanda, and don't waste your time or $ on any outside coordinator!!! The food as Salvatore's is truly amazing! The number of meal options in addition to the quality of food is outstanding and is far superior to most wedding venues in Chicago. Their food is exceptional and shouldn't even be compared to "wedding" food. Salvatore's has won many awards via theKnot & WeddingWire and has great reviews posted all over the internet for a reason. They are simply fantastic. Well done Salvatore's!
(5)Alvin J.
Salvatore's was amazing! We worked primarily with Amanda, and she was able to help us with every need/want we had. If you're looking for an all-inclusive package, this is the spot! We didn't live in Chicago, so we wanted a venue where we could make as few pre-wedding trips as possible, and Salvatore's was perfect! The food was amazing, the servers were fast and kind, and the restaurant was beautiful. We didn't need any more decorations other than flowers for our wedding because the ambience was already wonderful.

My job threw our xmas party here this year and omg was it awesome. First the actual space is beautiful, classy and clean. The night started with appetizers which were all delish. Then came dinner which was a buffet style with a salad, two types of pasta, chicken Madeira, and some veggies. Wow this dinner blew my mind best dinner I have encountered in a wedding or dinner party. The staff was amazing always there during dinner to fill our wine and water glasses. Then came dancing Dj was great and everyone had a good time. Thank you for such a great party, also I valet my car and had a lil too much to drink so went to another party and left my car they didnt have my car towed. Awesome.

We just had our wedding here this past Friday and I highly and strongly recommend anyone who is looking to have a wedding in the city of Chicago to hold their wedding at Salvatore's. We expected to have about 120 people and Salvatore's is perfect for a wedding of that size. It is completely full service. We had our ceremony at Salvatore's as well so it made everything really easy, plus our package even came with a cake and champagne. We opted for the open bar high end liquor package and upgraded our meal entrees to add salmon. We were able to bring in our own late night snack and they laid it out for us in the front. The best part were the wedding coordinators, Suzi and Amanda. Suzi and Amanda went above and beyond. The level of their service was amazing. Right from the beginning, they were both super responsive to all of my many questions over email. I would always get a response back in a few hours, at the latest, it would one day later. They set up the table arrangements and escorts cards for us and cleaned up everything! They were both there for the entire day and even helped my MOH with my bustle...and they fluffed out my wedding dress before I walked down the aisle. The level of service just completely exceeded my expectations and I was just so floored and grateful by how helpful Suzi and Amanda are. I mean I think they were better than most wedding coordinators! Everyone raved about the food. The service was excellent, our waiters and bartenders were very friendly and hosptiable The atmosphere of Salvatore's is one of a rustic Italian restaurant, they had dark wooden walls, it sets a very romantic ambiance so hardly any decoration is needed. The place sells itself! Also, after looking at so many venues, for such a high level of service and the great food, their prices were so much more reasonable than other venues we had looked at. Take my advice, if you are a bride and groom, if you have your wedding here, you will feel so much less stressed since they handle practically everything for you.
(5)Kimberly S.
I have to give my venue 5 stars, because they rocked!! The venue is beautiful and provides an intimate feel in a city setting. We had around 125 and it suited us perfectly. Suzi took care of all our details from start to finish. She was amazing and I have to give her major props. When we arrived after the ceremony, everything was setup exactly how I wanted it to be and they took care of the entire cleanup. We did the package which included apps, dinner, top shelf open bar and our cake. The food was amazing and the booze kept things lively. If you are getting married, I highly encourage you to check out Salvatore's.
(5)Meg K.
We had our wedding here and it was a beautiful place and the food was delicious. Suzi showed us the place initially. She was positive, warm and likable. She was not part of the wedding organization (I think she went on maternity leave) I thought for being a 'small (relatively speaking) and personal restaurant you would receive more personal service. The 20% required mandatory gratuity, (fine, of course). But to act as if it is a standard charge and not something that you receive for quality service is odd to me. I felt like our wedding inconvenienced them. I get it, brides are divas. But at least send a thank you note or a follow up e-mail. We were shooed out immediately at the end (I don't want to hang out for 2 hours, but at least be polite on the guests leaving). We went to the restaurant the next morning to pick up our flowers and they just stared at us, not even a Hello, I hope you enjoyed your wedding. Not trying to be a diva here, but for a once in a lifetime experience and when you pay a pretty penny, it is not a bad idea to add a little friendly customer service.
(1)Mad I.
Beautiful Lincoln Park wedding venue! 100 people, no more!! It is definitely a venue for a smaller wedding, it doesn't seem like there is room for more than around 100. Nice entry, coat check available and off to the ceremony. You head to cocktail hour a few steps away while they transform the ceremony space into the reception area. Where you dance and where you dine are 2 separate rooms, so you have to decide, are you camping at your table or busting a move?! This could be bad for the folks that like to sit at their tables while the youngsters dance ;) The food was, dare I say it...wedding food... Chicken and filet, both done very nice. A couple of red potatoes rolling around and some bland steamed veggies, you know the drill. I did like the appetizers that were passed. Stuffed mushrooms, "bruschetta" which was really pico de gallo on toast points, spinach phillo yummie thingies (yup, that is their proper name) and some more toast points with avocado and shrimp. Open bar was a hit, but the actual stunner of the night (besides the bride!) were the late night snacks! Burgers, grilled cheese and tots!!! Well done!
(4)Jonathan C.
I went here for a wedding and it was amazing. The service from the bartender to the waitstaff was top notch. The drinks were nice and stiff and served fast. I was really impressed with the veal tortellini.
(4)Elizabeth S.
We had our wedding ceremony and reception here in February 2014 and were extremely happy with how everything turned out! We had about 200 guests. We really loved how the cocktail hour and reception were in a different room than the ceremony and dinner. It made everything feel more intimate even with a guest list of 200. The staff does an amazing job of switching the rooms throughout the night. Prep - They are extremely organized and experienced. They were prompt to respond to questions via email/phone in the time leading up to the wedding. A few days before the wedding, we went over how everything should be set up and the staff did a wonder job of making everything look how we wanted it. Suzi gave great suggestions for vendors that were within our budget. Wedding Ceremony/Cocktail Hour - The ceremony was completely set up how we wanted prior to us arriving at Salvatore's. Our ceremony started promptly at 6PM. Suzi did a great job of getting everyone in place and giving directions to our bridal party. After the ceremony everyone moved into the west room for cocktail hour. The staff was immediately ready to pass drinks and hors d'oeuvres. Our guests loved the appetizers and the bartenders were quick with orders. Dinner - During the cocktail hour, Salvatore's staff did a wonderful job turning the ceremony area into the dining room. Each table was set up how we wanted. The food was delicious! We had many guests tell us how much they loved the food. The service was great. One of my fears was that dinner would take too long and cut into the reception time. Suzi ensured me that the staff would move it along and everything would be done in the budgeted amount of time. They definitely delivered! Everything was fantastic. Reception - The bartenders did a great job of making sure everyone got served. It was also nice to have 2 bars to help cover everyone. The late night snacks were delicious! We had mini burgers, grilled cheese, and tator tots. Our guests loved it! Highly recommend going with this option. After the wedding, the staff cleaned everything up and boxed up our decorations exactly how we delivered them. It was so easy for us! We were beyond happy with our wedding and reception. Everyone at Salvatore's made the day easy for us. They are extremely experienced and have a lot of wedding knowledge. We had so many guests compliment us on the venue, food, and service. Everything went smoothly and turned out perfect! We had such a wonderful day thanks to the Salvatore's team!
(5)Josh S.
My husband I were married at Salvatore's. The wedding was a fantastic success, in no small part due to the amazing attention to detail on the part of the phenomenal Salvatore's staff! If you're looking for a beautiful, wonderful wedding venue, then guess what? You've found it. Salvatore's provided everything we wanted in a venue and then some, and we're incredibly grateful to them that our wedding was so tremendously awesome. Suzi and Amanda were very thoughtful, responsive, and kind. They were full of wonderful ideas -- we came in slightly below the minimum required for a Saturday booking, and they suggested some really novel ways to satisfy our guests that everyone really appreciated. For example, we had grilled cheese and sliders as midnight snacks: not surprisingly, everyone loved them. They also had excellent ideas for the wedding itself and even served as organizers and planners. I never felt like I needed a professional wedding planner with them on the job. Particularly Suzi is amazing at what she does: I liked Amanda very much but Suzi was the linchpin of our entire experience. We are incredibly grateful for the hard work she did to make our wedding a tremendous success, and we always felt like we were in very capable hands indeed. Not a surprise, considering how many weddings she orchestrates! The day of, the venue was pleasantly full but not crowded at all. We had 140 people attending our wedding (not small by any means) and Salvatore's fit us all amply with room to spare. Hors d'oeuvres and dancing in the ballroom were pretty much perfect: there were enough people to get a good feeling for mingling and dancing, but there was always ample space at the bar or the more quiet foyer if one wanted a small break from the festivities. We had 17 tables in the dining room, and it could probably have easily fit three more without difficulty, so everyone had enough room to get around during dinner too. The ceremony itself was beautiful. Salvatore's is a very photogenic place, and with all our flowers and guests it was even more amazing. Everything was set up perfectly for the ceremony, and the Salvatore's staff rapidly and efficiently switched everything from ceremony to dining room while we were enjoying food and cocktails in the ballroom. Every transition happened without a hitch, an incredible credit to the professionalism of the establishment. And let me glow for a second about the food! I really wanted a venue where good food wasn't just an afterthought. Salvatore's provided in spades. The dishes we were served at the wedding were just as good as at our tasting, and were also some of the most excellent Italian I've had. Try the tortellini casalinga in particular, it's to die for. And we had multiple people tell us that the tiramisu was the best they've had, and I would actually agree with them. That we could get such amazing food for our wedding and satisfy all 140 guests (including one vegan and one gluten intolerant) speaks volumes to the level of service and satisfaction Salvatore's provides. Also, if you have the opportunity to meet Mr. Salvatore himself, you should definitely do so! He was on-hand during the ceremony and pushed my wheelchair-bound nephew up and down the ramps they provided, and at the end of the evening, he was there to help me load up the car with our presents. Definitely the picture of a gracious and friendly host. Suzi and Amanda even dealt with last-minute changes with aplomb. A week before the wedding I realized we didn't have standing tables in the ballroom or ribbons to tie the tablecloths at the bottom. Suzi somehow arranged everything despite the lateness of my realization, and on the day of everything was just as I imagined it would be. But perhaps the best part of Salvatore's is they really do take care of just about everything. They take care of your service, your dinner, and your reception; they provide food and cake and alcohol -- really all we had to find ourselves was flowers, DJ, and whatever linens Salvatore's doesn't have on-hand. Salvatore's provides recommended vendors for all additional services they don't do themselves. And Salvatore's prices were more than reasonable: I felt like I got a superb value for the amount of money I spent, and the huge variety of services they provided. If you can't tell from the length of my review and the glowing praise I've lavished on them, my wedding was special in no small part because of Salvatore's amazing services and wonderful establishment. I'm incredibly grateful for everything they've done for me -- I feel like they went way, way above and beyond the call of duty. If you're on this page reading this review, then let me tell you now: your search for your venue is over. You should definitely, definitely choose Salvatore's to do your wedding.

GORRRRKA!!!! That's about all I remember from one of my best girl friend's wedding reception that was held here last night. I was told that "Gorka" is Russian for the word "bitter..." You yell the word "GORKA" instead of dinging your glasses to have the bride and groom kiss in order to convert something bitter to something sweet. Ya I'm still a bit confused about the whole idea but hey, it's cultural, and definitely expected at an event combining a Russian and Albanian family into one. Salvatore's Ristorante is a pleasant event space for wedding receptions and the like. It's elegant, romantic and a tad outdated or better stated, conservative in decor. My biggest concern was the limited space. The interior seemed to be made of three main rooms (east, west and central/main). The central room was used for the reception and was extremely small. The videorecorder could not roll his camera's tripod around without people relocating. The waiters had a hard time as well, even though they were probably accustomed to it. Oh and the bride! She had difficulty fitting through to visit each table to pay a visit. Even worse...The grand entrance of the bride and groom. They had to go through a labyrinth to make it to the mock alter. In the adjacent room was another wedding that seemed to be of Mediterranean descent with loud music, clapping and probably belly-dancers. Unfortunately, it masked over the sweet words shared between the bride and groom even with all the doors closed. As for the food, I have to admit that it was wonderful. We started off with a mixed greens salad topped with a light dressing and fresh, warm bread with olive oil. I had to have the veal tortellini that everyone raved about. They served a huge plate of these decadent noodle circles smothered in a thick cream sauce. I'm not quite sure if anyone finished their meal...even though out eyes and taste buds wanted to. All in all, Salvatore's is a great venue and location for a wedding reception. I had a blast and it seemed that mostly everyone was pleased with the evening (even though it's impossible to please every single person).

The food was excellent, the service was very good, the ambiance was nice, but it lacked a little something for me to give it 5 stars. First of all, I have not been here in many years. We were about the only table being served, so it was as though we had the restaurant to ourselves. We only heard the employees talking in the bar area, and that was sort of tacky. If I were the manager, I would have not only paid more attention to those dining in the restaurant - but I would have checked on the tables and asked how things are. I would have also comped a few aperitifs and/or some desserts - I think because they do so many weddings, they really don't care about the regular diners as they did when their partner was there years ago - that's my opinion. Again, nothing was really wrong, but it lacked that intimate feeling - possibly candles on the tables, some music (that you could hear)? Maybe a live piano player? God knows they have 1 piano in the lobby. Like I said, the food was great, but it just didn't earn 5 stars in my book. To me if the food is that good, then make the atmosphere match the food.

We held our wedding and reception here last weekend, and, in a word, it was wonderful. From start to finish, Suzi, Amra and the rest of the Salvatore's team ensured the planning was painless and drama-free. They accommodated all our needs from flexibility around scheduling a rehearsal to leaving our crap there after the event to pick up two days later, which they had boxed up and ready to go. They have weddings and receptions down to a science there (meaning, you really don't have to worry about a thing in regards to the venue and the flow of the overall evening), but don't worry that it will feel like a cookie-cutter event. It truly felt classy and customized. And they were always up-front with costs -- no surprises. Aside from all that, the place is magical -- a perfect blend of vintage charm and classy Chicago. Oh yeah, and the food is also fabulous. HIGHLY recommended.

I just had my wedding reception here this past weekend and I just have to say that it could not have been better. Suzi and Amra are amazing to work with and really make the entire day worry-free. They handled all of the day-of set up so that I could just enjoy my wedding day. The food is incredible and I have gotten so many compliments on how beautiful the venue is. Hands down holding my reception at Salvatore's was the best wedding decision that I made.

(5)Adam M.

I just had my wedding here and it was perfect. They made sure to take care of my now wife the entire time and made sure everyone had a blast. The food was absolutely amazing. The portion sizes are large enough and good enough that people were making a point to bring left overs home. The 2 bars kept the party going and the large dance floor accommodated our wedding of 170+. I cant say a bad word about our experience. Thank you Salvatore's for providing us with a perfect night. We will see you soon for a regular weekend dinner.
(5)James D.
We had our wedding reception here and have dined on several other occasions. The atmosphere is great and the food has been terrific. If you get invited to a private party (or are thinking of throwing one) the veal is definitely not to be missed if it's on the menu. The Veal Tortellini is spectacular.

(4)Kristin M.
(2)Rebecca H.

(5)Rachel H.
(4)Melissa C.
(3)Robert B.
(5)Jennifer D.

(5)Lauren M.

(5)Amanda S.

(5)Becky K.
(5)Matt S.
(5)Rita W.

Awesome.
(1)Jonathan C.
I went here for a wedding and it was amazing. The service from the bartender to the waitstaff was top notch. The drinks were nice and stiff and served fast. I was really impressed with the veal tortellini.
(4)Mike P.

We had our wedding reception here and have dined on several other occasions. The atmosphere is great and the food has been terrific. If you get invited to a private party (or are thinking of throwing one) the veal is definitely not to be missed if it's on the menu. The Veal Tortellini is spectacular.

Well done!
