This place is literally meh, I've tried the pad see ew here and it's so bland and then i tried getting their $8 special, got the wrong order and tried to go back and they said they were closed. Tried to eat it and the chicken was not very good. So disappointed. Too bad so close.

SaiMai Thai used to be my go-to place for takeout. Always a perfect, cheap option for dinner when I didn't feel like cooking. However, they recently changed their menu, making the portions smaller and the prices higher. We would normally order the pad see ew and pad panang noodle dishes, but when the menu changed, both of our favorite dishes changed drastically. I live across the street from SaiMai Thai, so I still get it sometimes, but it's just not the same. I would suggest this place if you are looking for some quick takeout in LP, but if you're looking for something above average, this isn't the spot. Here's hoping they bring back their old menu!

I have been here several times over the last couple years and have always left feeling happy with the 10-15 dollars I spent on dinner. The staff is always friendly, quick with getting the food to the table, and not over bearing. The food is fantastic, servings are large, and reasonably priced for the area and compared to other Thai Restaurants. I only wish they had a beer menu but it is still BYOB.

A friend and I stopped into Sai Mai Thai for dinner after we'd waited for service for 40 minutes to no avail at a bar and grill down the street. At that point, I'd have been happy anywhere with a server who looked our way! In that vein, I'd recommend Sai Mai Thai to anyone who--well, anyone who just wanted to eat, thankyouverymuch. But if you're looking for a meal worth remembering, I'd pick somewhere else. Their food is unremarkable; their Massaman curry surely didn't leave me swooning, as curries generally tend to do.

This place disappointed me. I went with four friends on a weekday. First, it took them almost 45 minutes to get our food ready, and when the food finally came, it wasn't what we ordered. So they had to take it back and it took them another half an hour to get ready. We each order a dish, so it's five dishes in total. I got my dish first, but between the first dish and the fifth one there was an hour wait. I'm a slow eater, but my friend didn't get his food yet when I finished mine. This is a place I wouldn't come back again.

Ordered delivery late on a Sunday, I was so happy to find this place was open and still delivering! I ordered the beef pho soup and crab rangoons both of which were very good. The online ordering is super easy as well. Will definitely be ordering from here again.

Very nice small Thai restaurant next to Park West. We had dinner last night before a show: starting with the baby egg rolls with delicious sweet and spicy sauce and fried potstickers. I had the pad Thai which was good especially once I added some hot sauce. The boyfriend had chicken cashew which he liked. The lady who was running the front was very kind and the service was quick. I would return if I am in the area again.

Great place! Small, clean and very friendly place. Food is tasty and portions are right for the price. Will definitely come back for dine-inn or pick up :)

I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at SaiMai Thai the other night. We were kind of desperately looking for a dinner spot, so we needed something close-by that could seat 8 people. Needless to say, we couldn't be too picky on a Saturday night. We stumbled upon this place, and I expected an average (at best) experience. However, I was thoroughly impressed by both the food and service here. We had a large group, so we were able to try a bunch of things. This was great because it gave me a good feel of what the place had to offer and also let me step out of my Thai food comfort zone. One of my favorite "new" dishes was the green tea noodles. The staples - such as pad kee mao and panang curry - were also really well done. We tried a variety of soups and appetizers, and everything was really great there, as well. I haven't had a ton of stellar Thai food in Chicago, so it felt great to enjoy SaiMai as much as I did. The location is great too - you can easily pop by Geja's next door for some chocolate fondue dessert!

In Chicago for the first time and found myself in the neighborhood after cruising around. The location is intimate, clean, and the food is good. I needed something fast and the server recommended pad thai or fried rice. I ordered the spicy fried rice (jalapeno, bell pepper, onion) with tofu. It was delicious and featured a stylish cucumber garnish.

Food took a long time took a long time for delivery and the food arrived cold. This place is under new management and I think that the old restaurant was better.

Yes! So excited to learn that Sai Mai is back. Was at the zoo with my family and we were looking for somewhere for lunch and stumbled across this place. I recognized the name as a place I used to frequent in Logan Square. I inquired and the owners confirmed that they owned(and closed) the other location. The food and menu are very similar to the old location. My favorite dish was and is the pad kimao. Spicy, sweet and delicious. I usually have them add some shrimp to my order too. This dish goes great with their Tom Yum soup which I will certainly be back for in the fall and winter! The spot and service is clean and welcoming, and they were really helpful in picking out dishes for my (very picky)five year old son. It is also BYOB. I will be back for sure.

Delicious green curry. Cozy spot, lovely wait-staff. I'll definitely be back to try a few other traditional dishes.

The food was pretty good, but the services terrible. Our waitress seemed really impatient and distracted.

This is a great neighborhood Thai restaurant. The $8 lunch special is terrific, egg roll, soup and an entree, making for a large and tasty lunch. I would order the spicy soup and pad thai again in a heart beat. This place was quiet during the weekday, and with free wifi my lunch lasted several hours -the waitresses were so nice and accommodating. The hidden secret? Boba! If only they served the non-slushie kind, this would be my heaven! Great value, great location, great service.

The Thai Food here is Okay. Their Main problem is inconsistency. I've ordered from here about 5 times (it's really close to my house) and each time my Pad Thai has been just a little different from, never really bad, but only really good about 2 out of the five times.

I love this place! Mostly because it is very close to my home. But the food is really good and it's BYOB. Pad Thai, Pad See Eiw...all the classics are fantastic. It's my not-cookin'-tonight go-to. I hope it stays around for a while.

I was really excited that there's going to be a Thai restaurant around Lincoln Park Zoo area because there is none. But I really think "Meh. I've experienced better" was a perfect way to describe my experience for the food wise. When I looked at the menu, I was pretty happy because most dishes are cheap and nothing is really over 10 dollars. However, the quantity you get is worth under 10 dollars. It's probably half the box you get from other Chinese restaurant. Entrees were pretty salty too. And of course, I had to try Pad Thai! Pad Thai quantity was actually great unlike entree dishes, but it was pretty dry and I was wanting more peanuts and fresh veggies on the top. Overall, I think it's a cute place and you could try it out one time, but I think I rather get a hot dog/Subway nearby or get some dinner from Sushi O.

Because I work in the neighborhood I decided to try Sai Mai Thai again, I'm so glad I did. Although I only order the same meal lunch special it is consistently delicious. Sai Mai noodles are delicious. With free appetizer and soup its a good deal for $8 made fresh hot lunch.

My wife and I go to SaiMai Thai on a seni-regular basis. It is a few blocks from our house, and we usually dine in (although, we are always the only ones). Everything that we have had on the menu has been really decent. Certainly not my favorite Thai food I've ever had, but if you're in the neighborhood, worth a stop.

Great lunch special. Friendly staff. Their green curry is my favorite dish. The vegatables especially the chunks of eggplant are delicious.

You can't beat the $8 daily lunch special at SaiMai. I work in the neighborhood, and SaiMai is always a winner-- especially during the wintertime, when a steaming powl of panang can warm you to your core. The food is always fresh and hot, the restaurant is always quiet (great for lunch meetings, or a quiet lunch with your favorite book), and the service is attentive. It's also super fast-- you won't feel rushed if you want to take an hour, but if you need to get in and out in 20 minutes, you can usually do it here.

This is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood, I just wish I had come here sooner! While I don't consume Thai food enough to be an expert on it, my taste buds aren't completely useless and I really enjoyed the panang curry here. Like, ordered it take out a few days later enjoyed it. The restaurant is clean, simple, and the food is tasty. Everything about this place is great: friendly and attentive service, new furniture and quick pick-up, food doesn't take forever to make and the prices are way affordable. This would be a killer lunch spot (if I worked in the city I would probably live here) and I'm hesitant to say anything else about this place for fear of lines and long wait times. Definitely going to come back.

Delicious. My girlfriend and I came across this place as we were exploring Lincoln Park and definitely recommend this place. The Red Curry was very good.

I came with my family of four. Very polite and welcoming. Everyone's food was delish. Mine was very bland. The service was good. The appetizers were very good. I will go back to try something a bit more spicey.

I get delivery from Sai Mai ALL the time. It is the quickest delivery around, and it's so so so yummy. They have the best beef basil fried rice. I haven't dined in yet, but I definitely plan to. (Oh and their delivery dishes are awesome, so I keep them and reuse 'em to bring lunch to work).

Wasnt the best Wasnt the worst. I only go here during lunch hour special time because that is truly the right price for this food. We had the Pad Thai and the Basil fried rice in which neither were prepared as other restaurants. But hey this place is close by and I will continue to go when I dont feel like cooking !

Popped in for a quick bite. Pleasantly surprised by their lunch specials! Panang curry with chicken was awesome! Veggie roll so crunchy! My 'round-the-corner-thai' spot!

I was working down the road, and SaiMai was the closest thing around. I was happy to see some good lunch specials, but I opted for the Green Curry with Avocado. I didn't want meat, so asked for veg only. It was nice they added a variety of vegetables as well as the generous portion of avocado. The curry was flavorful, and just the right level of spiciness for me, though no one asked how spicy I'd like. Prices were reasonable, and service was quick and personable.

Good, not great. Service was excellent which adds to the grade as I felt the food was a 3. Would go back for quick, cheap Asian food.

So to be honest, some bad reviews on YELP kept me away from Sai Mai for a while. However it is quite literally on my doorstep so I decided to check it out. I have now been there three times and the food is of good quality, consistent and quick to arrive. I had the red curry and parang curry on different occasions and my gf got the pad Thai and the dishes all lived up to expectations. Best of all, the place is really cheap and also gives free egg rolls with a yelp check in offer and is BYOB so a meal for two including tip is around $25. I know what you are thinking, "Subway is right next door and is even cheaper" -however, do yourself a favor and splash the extra $7 for some quality food!

What a hidden gem in Lincoln Park! My sister and law and I were strolling on a Friday afternoon when we found SaiMai. With a pretty patio seating outside, sorrounded by beautiful flowers, my sister in law enjoyed the 7 dollar lunch special consisting of soup, appetizer, and her choice of entree. The presentation was neat, the food came quick, and it was the perfect amount. I got the banana bubble tea from all the tons of flavors to choose from, and it was very sweet. Porbably went over my sugar intake by a ton, but it was a nice treat on a warm afternoon. It was quiet, and 2 people came individually for take out, but we enjoyed it a lot and I would definately come back.

Excellent place to get Red Curry. I also enjoyed the duck curry here. I don't believe they have any alcohol. On a nice day sit outside and enjoy a nice lunch at a great price.

Sai Mai Thai recently changed owners, which made us a bit nervous since we liked it the way it was. But we were pleasantly that the new menu is a big step up. The food is really fantastic for a little neighborhood place. We order carry out and eat at home. Be sure to try the coconut shrimp which is killer!

I wanted something other than a burger joint, so my husband and I tried SaiMai as it is less than 2 blocks from where we live and it was cold out. It was a very pleasant experience, the waitress was friendly and the food fresh. The restaurant it clean and cute. I had mango shrimp, the dish complemented the shrimp which I could actually taste. My husband, no fan of Thai food, took his leftover Pad Thai home for lunch. The Won Ton soup we shared was also very good. The curry puffs were a little heavy on the potato for me, but I don't like potato. We will go again.

I live close by and I had passed by this restaurant so many times but I never walked in. One night I finally decided to try this place. The restaurant was kinda empty, which worried me a little. Yet, to my surprise, Food was good! We tried Red curry and pad thai - Oh Pad Thai, it's classic but I think it's hard to find a good pad thai. At some place, it's really sweet and at others it's too soury for me. SaiMai's Pad thai was just perfect:) As we checked in, we got free crispy spring rolls as well, which is a bonus. And it's BYOB!! Had a good experience and I'll come back again (and we actually did)..

This place was fantastic, but then they changed the menu. Maybe they will change it back, they had the best appetizers at a reasonable price and great noodle dishes. I live across the street and I was so excited about this place but then after they changed over my favorite menu was gone. It is listed now in the photos as a memoriam. My old favorite Thai place :...(
