Whats not to love about Pret, especially this location? -It's inside City Target -City Target has free wifi -Everything is delicious -The staff is always exceptionally friendly I'm a huge fan of the coffee. I don't know what it is but with the proper amount of cream and sugar, this is one of my favorite cups in the loop. It beats the pants out of Starbucks (yick). The snacks and sandwiches are tasty. The croissants and other pastries are delicious. Their sandwiches are the best pre-made sandwiches I've ever eaten. The yogurt cups with bananas and honey are amazing. And best of all? The prices are actually really reasonable! This location in particular, but all of them, are one of the best spots to grab a quick lunch in the loop.

Proceed with caution, check your food and beverages! I work across the street, this was a frequent morning breakfast spot iced tea and quinoa cup. Last week, I received a surprise in my iced tea, there was a pubic hair. I noticed it after taken a sip, it was the most disgusting thing. I emailed the company and received a reply, they said they would contact the manager and send me a gift card for my breakfast. I understand things happen, mistakes happen but there's no excuse for this. It's truly unfortunate, I used to enjoy you Pret, but must say goodbye after this experience.

What's not to like about Pret A Manger? My favorites -- Pret's Famous Ham and Cheese Baguette Roasted Turkey, Bacon & Avocado Salad Tuna Nicoise Salad Pure Pret Yoga Bunny Detox Drink (sparkling grape juice + herbs) All salads are served with a free pretzel roll -- don't forget to ask the cashier for one if they don't offer it to you. Everything is made fresh and in-house each morning and all remaining food is donated to organizations that feed the hungry, like the Greater Chicago Food Depository, at the end each day. Everything is natural -- no chemicals, additives, or preservatives.

Note: I do not work here or know anyone who works here. I like Pret sandwiches but wanted to specifically address this location in my review. The morning staff at this Pret are wonderful. Every time I have come in they have been friendly, upbeat, and delivered high quality service. I don't know if it;s against Pret policy but I would love to see a tip jar (or a tip line on the receipt) here. A little kindness in the morning can really get your day off to a good start.

The Chicken Mozzarella baguette contains an unexpected kick after swallowing that stays in your throat for a little time. Would order it with drink besides water. Other than that, a good sandwich.

I was pleasantly surprised by Pret. I am usually wary of sandwiches in boxes because they get so soggy. But the chicken and avocado one at Pret was great! Fluffy bread (albeit chilled) and the avocado was fresh. I also got the Moroccan lentil soup which was vegan. It was a hearty soup that was rich in spices. I think in all it's a nice place for a quick bite, but it is pricier than a lot of fast options and more on par price-wise with Corner Bakery, where you would get made-to-order stuff. But if you're in a rush, this place has un-soggy sandwiches!

Great Food and options on the go such as a fresh crawfish sandwich and great mini salads but they are little overpriced especially for the portions since they're in Target its open late!

This location is inside of Target, located downtown, with a subway stop right outside - so, it pretty much is everything you can ask for in a Pret. If you're familiar with Pret, this is a decently run-of-the-mill location. I grabbed a juice and had some of their bacon and their vegetarian mac and cheese. The vegetarian one, which would normally be my choice, was absolutely disgusting - but the bacon one was workable. If you're not familiar with Pret, they are slightly overpriced, decent food fast but not fast food places. They have healthy options. Everything is made fresh that day and somethings are made throughout the day. You can run in, grab something and run out. Hot things are in hot cases and cold things in cold cases - you just grab what you want, take it to the register and are on your way. The lines move quickly. If you're in a rush but hungry, this place is for you! It's nice to be able to grab what you need from Target, grab food and hop on the train. And they have fresh grapefruit juice. I cannot hate on a place with fresh grapefruit juice.

This is one of my favorite locations because it's ridiculously convenient! The hours are awesome because it's located right inside Target. I used to work right down the street from this lovely spot, so I would spend many lunch breaks perusing Tar-che' and grabbing a bite at Pret A Manager. Everything I've had from them has been delicious! My favorite lunch-on-the-go is the Buffalo Chicken wrap with BBQ chips and a Yoga Bunny Detox drink. I love knowing I'm eating natural ingredients and it's convenient that they list the nutritional facts clearly for you to see. Every employee I've come in contact with behind the counter has been such a gem. I appreciate them always suggesting new items and genuinely asking how I like everything! It truly is the nicest, quickest, healthiest lunch you can grab in the area. Next time I'm in the loop I shall be back!

This is probably my favorite Pret A Manger because, since it's located inside of Target, it's open until 10 pm! Every sandwich and wrap I've had has been fresh, flavorful, and tasty. The cookies are fresh-baked and wonderful. The juices and drinks are deliciously refreshing and contain none of the nasties, like HFCS or Red #40. I also love that they make everything fresh every day and give what's left to the hungry/homeless/less fortunate. Sounds like a win-win situation to me!

I love this place for lunch. Everything is so neatly organized and packed. There's a range of salads, hot wraps, cold sandwiches and soups. I opted for the chicken wrap and it was delicious. Everything looks freshly prepared and my wrap was piping hot when I brought it back to my office in 1 degree weather. I need to come back and try their other items -- everything looks so good! And might I add, the staff is super friendly, too.

YUM! I love that they have several healthy options! We tried the red pepper falafel wrap and it was GREAT! A little bit of kick and a ton of flavor. I mean, this place is better than most sit down restaurants in the area. I like that they have the calories so you know what you are putting in your mouth. I mean, I usually try to eat healthy, but its amazing the stuff fast food sneaks into your food! Grab, pay and go! YAY! I love Pret!

Pret A Manger is a chain of sandwich/ coffee shops headquartered in England. Pret A Manger specializes in ready to eat food. Pret A Manger is a word that means ready to eat in French. Pret A Manger is the restaurant of the City Target in the Chicago Loop. Instead of Target placing the customary Starbuck's and Pizza Hut inside, they placed a popular chain headquartered in Great Britain. According to Wikipedia, Pret A Manger is so popular that you could see a couple from every roundabout. In my opinion that is probably exaggerated. But then again it seems like we could see a couple of Starbuck's from every major intersection. The thing is that Pret A Manger is a place that looks ordinary to first timers like myself. In all honesty it looks like a counter where you order and pick up a caffeine beverage to the right of a row of refrigerators displaying ready to eat (Pret A Manger) sandwiches, sushi, baguettes, soup, salad, and so on. With that said I regarded Pret A Manger as simply a pret a boire la cafe (ready to drink coffee). In all honesty I wasn't hungry. The City Target was only a stop on the Loop. At first it was a dare to try the coffee here. The coffee stands out for the simple fact that it is organic. I never really thought about organic coffee before. I go for the strong coffee: Cafe Americana. I was impressed with the Cafe Americana. It passed my expectations. When we sipped the coffee in comfortable seats, it was in an interesting spot. A City Target is interesting ?! This City Target is historic preservation in action. It is the historic Sullivan Center, a building rich in history that dates back to the 1930s. Drinking an organic Cafe Americana on the couch, I took in the art decor column capitals. I guess all this history could be an excuse for the general lack of outlets to plug a smartphone into. As I looked straight between sips of the beverage and conversation, I'd see the Pret A Manger food. There a big sign stood out stating that they make the food fresh and at the end of the day they give the leftovers to charity. The sign missing was food is prepared from fresh ingredients (supposedly) and cooked inside a kitchen in back of the wall. For people unfamiliar with this company, the misconception is Pret A Manger is packaged food with a sell by date. This would be a busier place if people were cognizant of their policy of cooking food each day and giving the leftovers to the homeless to start the next day cooking fresh food. The Pret A Manger website states that they are against franchising and that they want to grow slowly. Currently Chicago is one of the few United States markets that they are in. Without any locations in Vegas, it looks like I will not be using the word Pret A Manger for awhile. But I do want to spread the word that if you are up to something different than Starbuck's or the typical chain coffee shop, remember the word Pret A Manger.

Pret in a Target, kewl. Also fantastic view of forever 21 across state st. Pricier but good quality lunch in the loop. I had the half size pork banh mi sandwich and a bag of BBQ chips, for $5. The sandwich has fresh veggies and actually kind of spicy, pretty tasty. BBQ chips were typical kettle style. One thing to note, there is no beverage station, you have to ask for a cup of water. Also the employees are very friendly.

This Pret is conveniently located inside Target, which is great for those looking to grab a bite to eat before/after shopping on their lunch break. The selection is pretty good. You have a variety of hot & cold sandwiches, soups, salads and sides (chips and popcorn) to satisfy your hunger. The sweets are conveniently located by the checkout area. The usual suspects - cookies, brownies, some fruit bar that makes me thing it is healthy but isn't - lay in wait... waiting for you to indulge in them. There is ample seating including a long bench area in front of the large window overlooking State Street. It's the perfect spot for people watching! There are also tables located more toward Target's merchandise as well as booths. Pret is a great lunch choice since everything is ready to go. You can pick what you want, pay and get out of there very quickly. Again, it's a great option for the busy Loop worker bee that needs to return to his/her desk to get more work done while eating. However, you do pay a premium for the convenience. Granted - the quality of ingredients in their products is far superior than your typical fast-food joint. And, they donate the food they don't sell so you're always going to get it fresh. Yes, that is nice and all. That being said, I've easily spent just a little over $10 on half a sandwich (get the Chicken & Bacon), a cup of chicken noodle soup (perfect for beating the chill in your office or on a frigid day) and some chips (get the Rosemary & Olive Oil). Needless to say, that as much as I love Pret, I try to keep my visits to a minimum and/or reserve them for when I'm in an absolute pinch. The costs really rack up quickly if you go frequently.

Pret A Manger is a small chain of cafes that sell ready-made sandwiches, soups, and coffee to-order. My first Pret's experience was at this Target location. The sandwiches and soups are made fresh daily and today's offerings are donated to non-profits serving the homeless and food-insecure at the end of the day. In Chicago, they partner with The Greater Chicago Food Depository. NY, Boston, and DC also host Pret's locations. You can see the food items being made behind closed doors to the kitchen. The food items are on the pricier side, but they are made with quality items and you'll find they are more creative than your standard cafe. Look for items like balsamic chicken and avocado sandwiches and New York meatball hot wraps. The coffee is made-to-order and organic. Pret's prides themselves on their organic coffee and has been promoting their iced coffee this summer. I ordered a warm mocha, which at $1.99 plus tax, was fairly priced and had a good foam. The mocha is not too sweet, but has the bitter taste of dark chocolate. The paper cups and lids are made from sustainable materials, and are surprisingly good quality and provide good insulation. The staff are friendly and always ready to take your order. Cons: You have to ask for paper napkins at this location, but other cutlery are readily available. This location has wooden booths and small tables like your local Starbucks. For a Target location, they have quite a bit of space. But, cafes inside big-box retailers in downtown Chicago are actually a thing here.

Love the selection, but I have to say the sandwiches are a disappointment. Mostly bread with hardly any fillings. Everything looks good, but not a great bargain. I have a salad for dinner later & already the avocado looks kinda brown.

I'm going to have to start out here with two stars. I'm not saying "there ain't hope" and that I'll never give it another go, but I think it says something when you are given a free lunch and it's so bad that you can only muster up an "I've experienced better." Few months back, I'd answered some survey questions outside the Aon building and voila! $10 thank you card. I love that this Pret is located right inside the Target on State (first floor) (as an aside, I DON'T love that there's nary an outlet in the whole area in which to capture a quick recharge.) Anyway, the employees were excellent, and the sandwich selection was decent even at after usual sandwich eating time (6:30ish pm). I first gravitated toward the Chipotle Chicken Bacon and Avocado and after looking at everything else available, I came back to it. I wish I hadn't. The taste was fairly bland, though you could tell that it was very fresh. The avocado was still pretty green, (not browning) but it already was getting mushy. It didn't go well with the hardness of the bacon. I noticed from the git-go that the chicken in it was scant and so, as chicken goes, it didn't contribute one way or the other to the taste. The worst part was the over-seasoning. A black pepper explosion. I almost didn't eat the other half but I was hungry. The other half was even worse - so bad that the pepper even made me cough. I'm no sissy either on salt and or pepper. For the price point $7.99, it was a disappointment. I think the concept is fine and it would have probably won me over had the sandwich been anything special. (Or edible without coughing!) However, anytime you pre-make a sandwich and put it in plastic, I can't help but conjure the site of vending machine mush. And that's indeed pretty much what this turned out to be.

While power walking State Street in the cold, my friend decided she wanted a snack. She is vegetarian and I remembered seeing the Pret on Adams and that it was something along the lines of being healthy so we ducked in. My friend had a vegetarian wrap that was premade and she said it was one of THE best she had ever had. Very flavorful. Nothing would have made her more happy than that little wrap did! And she absolutely loved her diet coke too...you know how sometimes a soda is just better than average - that happened here. I, of course had to go with chocolate zucchini bread - who decided to add chocolate to the already amazing zucchini bread?! Best idea ever. I also saw Pret sells their own caned beverages....Yoga Bunny Detox. They had me at Yoga Bunny (yes, I actually do hot yoga) and the imaging on the can was super cute too. I wasn't sure if I would actually like it since it was like a carbonated water with grape juice and herbal extract. I'm not big on carbonated water to begin with - let alone grape flavoring and I wasn't even sure what herbs were dancing around in my water...BUT I LOVED IT! I seriously wish I could get this stuff out in the burbs. Lucky for me I'm going to be back on State St. for work next week....I'll have to pick up a small supply! Plus they had a Ginger Beer that was also tempting me. Gonna have to try that for sure, and their sandwiches really looked great. I would highly recommend this for a casual bite or grab and go!

i wouldve rated this 1 star if it wasnt for this nice male employee. i went late night, and picked out a sandwhich, dude ask me if i want it grilled or somethin i said sure. i waited a long time and while he was grilling it he was talking to his coworker while looking at the sandwhich, i cant actually hear and see what was going on. after that he said do i want it in a bag i said yea. then i went to chow on the table and to my suprise, the sandwhich was BURNT, it was literally black on the sides, i attempted to scrap it off hoping to save it, but it was way too burnt. he mine as well give me trash to eat. i cant believe he acted as if nothing happened and gave me the piece of shit. i went back and the dude was gone and another employee (the dude he was talking to) was present, i showed him the toast and how it was unedible, gratefully he apologize for the other dude and promise to grill me another one perfectly in replacement, and he also offered me to grab any one additional food for no cost. i dont know his name but he was a nice young african american male, who knows customer service and needs a raise!

Super speedy service, which is great if you're in a hurry and need to grab a quick lunch. I've tried a few of their salads and sandwiches and both the chicken avocado sandwich and salad are my favorites. Always fresh. My favorite soups are the lentil and turkey chili. Wish they had more soups with meat in it, they tend to be almost all vegetarian. Service is super friendly. This one is located in the City Target with very limited seating. Quality lunch, though a bit on the expensive side.

I love Pret. If I squint a little and don't listen to the accents of the people around me, it makes me feel like I'm back in England with my darling. Pret food is (and tastes) fresh. I got a cup of their soup and for "fast food" of sorts it was ridiculously good - tastes like the stuff I cook myself. And it was vegan. This is just a wee Pret in the Target, but they have a nice seating area where you can look out on State Street, and free-wifi too. A really nice little lunch stop if you're shopping downtown. Haven't had their sandwiches or salads but the soup definitely exceeds expectations!

I first tried this store when it came to New York City and I was impressed with the cost/quality ratio: many types of freshly made sandwiches that are quite easy to grab, buy and eat. Bonus of the store is that all that isn't eaten that day is given to organizations that feed the hungry. I love a store that is based on charitable causes and can still turn a profit. They are springing up all over Chicago like rabbits now. The turkey/cranberry sandwich was great

Great for small groups, individual study sessions, lunch. Wifi is very good, which is important. Coffee may be slightly more expensive, but at least it's organic. Recommended.

Mmm. Reminds me of a trip to England when I ate sandwiches from here everyday instead of the fried bread and brown gravy everyone else was eating. These sandwiches are simple and fresh and delicious. Not gross like Subway and whatever. You pay a little more, but it's worth it to not get butt cancer.

Healthy Pastry, Average price. I love their croissant, so fresh and really good. Located in City Target-ideal location ;-) however the coffee is not good at all.

I had not been to a Pret A Manger since I frequented a location while spending a summer in London. After seeing this new addition to the State Street Target location, I decided to pay a visit for a quick lunch. I decided to go with the Vietnamese Baguette. The sandwich had amazing flavor, and I could definitely tell that it was fresh. It's crazy how different and amazing food tastes without all of the preservatives. I will definitely be back.

I love Pret. I would come all the time but it is a little pricey to be a regular lunch spot. I always get the vegan wrap because it is stuffed with fresh veggies. It is seemingly small, but every time I eat it, I am stuffed to the brim and feel great! Highly recommend it.

Awesome service but they don't take Discover. As I go to pay for my Spicy Chicken wrap and chocolate croissant (which I later found to both be fresh & delicious) I was told by the cashier that they don't take Discover. I proceeded to walk away and tell her I would be back. The manager says to me, It's ok." Dumbfounded, I stood there, shocked, telling them I promise to be back to pay for my food. They once again said it's ok. It's on us!! I'm a happy camper both in service and the quality of the food-- which apparently they do not keep overnight and it is made that morning.

Lotsa vegan options at Pret! Friendly staff & I love to people watch (as they watch me eat!) along State Street.
