This place is OK I guess. It's nothing really to call home about. The chicken lettuce wraps were alright but nothing fantastic. I also tried the mongolian beef and kung po chicken. And the mongolian beef was good but the kung po wasn't very impressive. I also tried one of their hot teas, and it was alright, but it had this odd after taste that I couldn't figure out what it was. It's not really expensive, but for the quality of food you get it is over priced. Over all the food wasn't bad, but it just wasn't very good.

Even though this is a chain, I love PF Changs. Their lettuce wraps are amazing and I love their Honey Chicken. The food is great, and the service is good as well. And the best part- their chocolate cake is amazing! It could probably feed a small family of 4 so it's great for sharing.

I wouldn't exactly call it a casual dining environment. Our waiter hooked us up with an appetizer gratis and was very friendly. There are other cheaper alternatives in town but like I said, P.F. Chang's is definitely a solid option if you're after a quality meal, nice atmosphere and friendly service.

Went here for just a dessert. I was very impressed with the service, decors, food quality and all. Chocolate cake was so big I couldn't finish it and felt bad that I didn't take it home with me. I got a glimpse of their dinner menu and they had plenty of interesting dishes and good prices. I have to definitely come here to try their dinner menu. I am so very impressed! having recently discovered an unfortunate gluten intolerance (boooooooooooo, especially due to a lifetime of carb-lover syndrome), I have to be more selective about where and what I eat. lame. anyway, my girlfriend and I dined at P.F. Chang's last night, and we were greeted by a terrific host (who was terrifically funky), and had a terrific server who was very attentive to our needs AND new all about the gluten-free items on the menu, down to the sauces!!! she even brought me out a special sauce. Chang's offers a GLUTEN-FREE menu on the back - this is so awesome!!! I cannot tell you how much I appreciated that. And, the selection is widespread, so you're not limited to a few things with this setback. I had the Fried Rice with Shrimp, and it was delicious, and definitely affordable. The ambience is really nice, the drink menu looks interesting (though a little pricey), and there is plenty of seating Because I spent a great deal of my younger life in the service industry, I fully appreciate having great service, because I was a great server - and this means a lot to the customer! You can tell that P.F. Chang's really emphasizes the value of service, and I have not seen service like that since my 2-year stint at Biaggi's. Kudos!! Will definitely be back, and will definitely recommend!

I was here for the first time this evening and really enjoyed it. I'm not sure if all the dishes are good, but the almond & cashew chicken was pretty solid- although I'd prefer the cashew chicken from a good thai place, or getting chinese from a hole in the wall or even Ben Pao. As other people have noted, it can't really be called Chinese, but it is what it is - I'm a pretty firm believer that people don't have to limit themselves to authentic or the highest quality cuisine (I will admit to a weakness for Olive Garden for instance, mostly for the soups! Is it high quality authentic food? Well maybe not but it tastes good to me! Anyway I digress) The bar area was fairly wide open so there was a nice place to wait about 10 minutes for a table and unwind a bit before dinner. Also highly recommend the lettuce wraps either as an appetizer or even a meal- its got a great seasoning to it, and I liked it better than the dinner I ordered so I would definitely get it again if I go back I think my favorite part of the meal was dessert though- they have this phenomenal chocolate cake that is so chocolatey with the frosting and everything, and then they add little chocolate chips....yuuuummm...so much for trying to eat a little healthy this week , but its hard to say no when your dinner buddy seems to have her heart set on some sweets! ;) (guess that diet can start with new years!) Try the lettuce wraps although it has too many water chestnuts and I do not like water chestnuts. My favorite appetizer is the calamari. It comes with sea salt and pepper which sticks immediately to the calamari. It gives it an amazing burst of flavor that goes delightfully well with the fluffy crispy outershell of the calamari. I did not particularly enjoy the eggplant because the flavor was not absorbed into the eggplant and the pieces were very large chunks.

There's a reason you'll find nary an Asian soul in this restaurant, except for the cute receptionists/waitresses. The food is very Americanized Chinese. I'm not saying that all the entrees taste bad or that inauthentic Chinese food is inherently inferior. However, in general, the excessive use of salt and sauce really overwhelmed any subtlety of flavor that they were trying to accomplish. Maybe I'm expecting too much from a chain. I did enjoy the comfy faux Asianesque atmosphere. But a sampling of several dishes supports my negative review. The hot and sour soup was salty and too sour. The combo fried rice was greasy but adequate. The General Tso's chicken (I forget what they called it) tasted ok, but nothing like the Chinese versions. The Szechuan Shrimp was salty and uninspired. Two stars is generous for this subpar culinary experience.

This location is better than others I've tried in California and Minnesota. Comfortable yet sophisticated atmosphere, and you can still eat at under $20 if you choose wisely. Recently I tried their sea bass (my first sea bass in an Asian restaurant), and it was incredible. The only thing about PF Chang's is that they go overboard with their sauce. (Including the sea bass I had) Every item has too much sauce, which sometimes makes it too salty or/and sweet. Other than that, I have been happy with their food, and it's well paired with good service. Excellent tea selections. Good drinks. I know this is a chain restaurant and is not the kind of restaurant locals are dying to try, but it's a good place to go for Chinese in River North. In fact,(excluding dim sum places in C-town) the only other Chinese restaurant that made a lasting impression on me in Chicago is Friendship Chinese restaurant. So don't be judgmental against chain restaurants, and try it!

For a chain restaurant, I found the service, food, and atmosphere to be always a winner with me. The lettuce wraps are pretty good, however, I suggest the salt and pepper calamari as an appetizer with a nice dry white wine. It has generous amounts of Sea Salt, and plenty of spicy pepper along with a nice spicy dipping sauce that a little on the sweeter side. For dinner, I always like the Ahi Tuna, a number 2 grade yellowfin tuna, which by culinary standards is pretty damn good tuna. I also like the spicy chicken, and when in the mood for real heat, I get the Mongolian beef kicked in the ass extra hot. Never done dessert there, I cannot offer an opinion regarding that, but if your looking for good Chinese in a nice warm atmosphere, Chang's scores 7.5 out of 10 for me.

Don't get me wrong. The first time I went into a PF Changs I was in Reston Virginia and believe me it was a long time ago. I've always been a fan. I continued to be a fan and was really impressed with the Oak Brook restaurant. Great..great service. Near North? Another story. We went with a group of 8. Incredibly slow service. Not only was it slow but they finally brought out the food. The problem is they just left it on the tray. We had to sit and stare at it for 2 minutes. I finally had it and started transfering the food to our table myself. I contacted the manager to complain. This is ridiculous. All the manager did was ask us if we wanted it redone and remove the tip the waiter left on the tab and had us put whatever we wanted to tip. We just waited forever for the food, do you honestly think we want to start the process all over. So we ate cold food. Well, we always leave a good tip regardless, but what we left with was a very bad taste. I think corporate really needs to do some work. I used to love PF Changs.

I recently went to PF Chang's on a Friday night and had to wait an hour and 35 minutes. We took the pager and headed to MI Ave to waste some time. We got back 45 mins later and I checked in with the desk and was told that we hadn't even waited an hour so it would still be another 45 mins. When the 90 mins was up, I went back up there and was told that they were just about to seat us. We headed upstairs and saw quite a few empty tables. From the whole situation, it seemed that they told you a time and made you wait that time whether there were tables available or not. It could have been me being cynical I guess. It was my first trip there and I had my usual sweet & sour chicken with brown rice and really liked it. We also had the spring rolls (which come in 2 or 4 servings only). Everyone really enjoyed their food. I am giving it 3 stars mainly for the long wait and our waiter. I heard him tell another table that he was a stand up comic but I didn't see much personality out of him. It was loud in the place and he barely spoke above normal tone and seemed more annoyed when we asked him to repeat what he had said or made any kind of request. It was our first time and seeing that it's in the heart of touristville, I thought he would have asked had we ever eaten there before and then maybe explain why the sauces and why he wanted to know how we liked it and mention some items on the menu. They now take reservations so plan ahead or plan to do take out if you want to eat dinner before 8:00.

PF Chang's is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. I feel like a bit of a sell out considering it is a chain, but dang it's good. Their iced tea is very, very good. The chicken lettuce wraps are the world's best and every entree I have had has been nothing but delicious! One word to the wise...if you decide on the chocolate cake for dessert, make sure you have many to split it with...it is huge!

I love PF Changs. I don't even care if it's a chain because it's just that good. Start out with the chicken lettuce wraps, and then try the Kung Pao Chicken or Beef, and the Mongolian beef and you won't be disappointed- believe me. If you can save room for dessert you must try the chocolate cake --- it's enough to feed about 5 people so ask them to bring several forks for everyone at the table. It's worth it. Great prices too- it's not that expensive.

Since PF Chang's Originated in Scottsdale, Arizona, I've been eating here long before it became the big chain it is now. The PF Chang's version of Mongolian Beef and kung pao Scallops are two of my all time favorite Chinese dishes. The long beans are real good too. I think the prices are reasonable especially with a large group. If the fresh steamed fish is Halibut I will always order it. The way it's prepared makes it my all time favorite fish dish. It has generous amounts of Sea Salt, and plenty of spicy pepper along with a nice spicy dipping sauce that a little on the sweeter side. For dinner, I always like the Ahi Tuna, a number 2 grade yellowfin tuna, which by culinary standards is pretty damn good tuna. I also like the spicy chicken, and when in the mood for real heat, I get the Mongolian beef kicked in the ass extra hot. Never done dessert there, I cannot offer an opinion regarding that, but if your looking for good Chinese in a nice warm atmosphere, Chang's scores 7.5 out of 10 for me.

This is a great option for really good Chinese food. The food here is hard to match...even if it is a chain. I love the atmosphere here and it is always an enjoyable place to enjoy a good meal.

Don't get me wrong. The first time I went into a PF Changs I was in Reston Virginia and believe me it was a long time ago. I've always been a fan. I continued to be a fan and was really impressed with the Oak Brook restaurant. Great..great service. Near North? Another story. We went with a group of 8. Incredibly slow service. Not only was it slow but they finally brought out the food. The problem is they just left it on the tray. We had to sit and stare at it for 2 minutes. I finally had it and started transfering the food to our table myself. I contacted the manager to complain. This is ridiculous. All the manager did was ask us if we wanted it redone and remove the tip the waiter left on the tab and had us put whatever we wanted to tip. We just waited forever for the food, do you honestly think we want to start the process all over. So we ate cold food. Well, we always leave a good tip regardless, but what we left with was a very bad taste. I think corporate really needs to do some work. I used to love PF Changs.

Their food is great but its expensive for Chinese...its a great place for a night out though, the ambiance is awesome with cool decorations and lighting.. their drinks are wicked good too!

I recently went to PF Chang's on a Friday night and had to wait an hour and 35 minutes. We took the pager and headed to MI Ave to waste some time. We got back 45 mins later and I checked in with the desk and was told that we hadn't even waited an hour so it would still be another 45 mins. When the 90 mins was up, I went back up there and was told that they were just about to seat us. We headed upstairs and saw quite a few empty tables. From the whole situation, it seemed that they told you a time and made you wait that time whether there were tables available or not. It could have been me being cynical I guess. It was my first trip there and I had my usual sweet & sour chicken with brown rice and really liked it. We also had the spring rolls (which come in 2 or 4 servings only). Everyone really enjoyed their food. I am giving it 3 stars mainly for the long wait and our waiter. I heard him tell another table that he was a stand up comic but I didn't see much personality out of him. It was loud in the place and he barely spoke above normal tone and seemed more annoyed when we asked him to repeat what he had said or made any kind of request. It was our first time and seeing that it's in the heart of touristville, I thought he would have asked had we ever eaten there before and then maybe explain why the sauces and why he wanted to know how we liked it and mention some items on the menu. They now take reservations so plan ahead or plan to do take out if you want to eat dinner before 8:00.

PF Chang's is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. I feel like a bit of a sell out considering it is a chain, but dang it's good. Their iced tea is very, very good. The chicken lettuce wraps are the world's best and every entree I have had has been nothing but delicious! One word to the wise...if you decide on the chocolate cake for dessert, make sure you have many to split it with...it is huge!

I love PF Changs. I don't even care if it's a chain because it's just that good. Start out with the chicken lettuce wraps, and then try the Kung Pao Chicken or Beef, and the Mongolian beef and you won't be disappointed- believe me. If you can save room for dessert you must try the chocolate cake --- it's enough to feed about 5 people so ask them to bring several forks for everyone at the table. It's worth it. Great prices too- it's not that expensive.

Awesome. I really enjoyed PF Changs. The chicken lettuce appetizer wraps were surprisingly tasty and the mongolian beef steak was even better. Much better than any chinese restaurant- it's more upscale and definitely my favorite place.

I agree - PF Chang's is great, but expensive. The lettuce wraps are amazing and so are their dishes. I just tried to SICHUAN FROM THE SEA SCALLOPS and it was so tasty! The downside is that they are a chain, but if they're good, they're good!

great date place. the food is delicious and upscale yet familiar. the atmosphere is comfortable and stylish. the drinks are crazy good... but be careful with a couple of the cocktails there. i know more than 3 of those confucius numbers would knock me the eff out.

Since PF Chang's Originated in Scottsdale, Arizona, I've been eating here long before it became the big chain it is now. The PF Chang's version of Mongolian Beef and kung pao Scallops are two of my all time favorite Chinese dishes. The long beans are real good too. I think the prices are reasonable especially with a large group. If the fresh steamed fish is Halibut I will always order it. The way it's prepared makes it my all time favorite fish dish. (But only the Halibut) The atmosphere is pretty much the same any where you go. Their service has always been good.
