Cozy atmosphere, great food, and great service. Would definitely come back.

$53.00 and a $6.00 tip : sushi was mixed with hot food when delivered. Messed up my whole meal. Cucumber salad mixed with hot food when delivered too. So my cucumber salad, mini Godzilla , tekka and California were all ruined because they were warm. I'm not too sure that would've made a difference though. Worse pad Thai ever tasted. Peanut sauce was okay. Crab Rangoon was no biggie. Took over an hour to deliver. For what we paid, definitely expected a better meal. The reviews sure did fool me. Customer service on the phone was really nice.

Definitely will be back went for the first time two Thursday ago. Enjoyed everything about the place, from the food, to the serve and mostly the host Linda. She made me feel quite welcome and although my sushi taste was limited to cali rolls she introduced me to other rolls that I'm now a fan of(I still ate over 4 cali rolls). The decor is modern and next time I'm sitting @ the sushi bar to watch the whole process.

This is a super cute little place, seems like parking would be easy but we just walked, the brown line isn't far either. We went on a Monday night and were seated no problem, but I guess on busier nights they take reservations as well. One bummer was you can get a free app (like crab rangoon or edamame) but that's with take out or delivery only. It is a BYOB with no corkage fee (as it should be), which I totally dig. The crab rangoon is ok, and the tuna tartare is pretty awesome (a lil spicy so be warned)! For rolls we got: the heat wave: they serve it on fire, very cool, also very yummy crunchy spicy salmon: always a good go to Volcano: a little saucy for my taste, but very good Mini Godzilla: cream cheesy, yummy, fun spices on top that I'm not quite sure what they are but dig their unique rendition Service was awesome as well. We will definitely be coming back!

Yesterday was my birthday. I don't like going big for my birthday because I always think that's a pretty vein trait. Plus it's expensive and my friends are cheap. So I decided to go low key this year with two of my friends for sushi and a local BYOB joint. I drove by Nano a few weeks ago, noted, and checked on the reviews. 4 stars? That's pretty solid! Circled for the birthday dinner. When we arrived it was pretty chill, I loved the lounge music, hard red and black colors, and comfortable seating. I have to make it known that our waitress was beyond pleasant. Such a nice lady! We had three bottles of wine and chilled the pinot grigio. For starters we went with the edamame, crab rangoon, and spring rolls. The spring rolls were pretty wild. I think they had jalapenos in them because my mouth was on fire, but that's cool because it keeps your metabolism going. The edamame was good, hot and salty. For the rolls I went with the sweet potato tempura and maki, naturally. I don't know if sushi spots are competing in a Best Sweet Potato Tempura Roll in the World contest or what, because it was awesome. Crunchy and filling. Maki rolls were cool. Can't really complain, solid spot. A nice place to celebrate a birthday as I near the quarter century mark as well as just chilling with friends on a Monday night. Check it!

I love byob sushi places, and Nano was a nice place. I have to be honest, for my favorite sushi in Chicago my heart belongs to Coast, but it can be frustrating to try to get a table so I was happy to find Nano, which like Coast offers unique and tasty rolls in an ambient atmosphere. My favorite rolls at Nano were the sweet potato, the california crunch and the heat wave. Heat wave has a really neat presentation, it comes out on fire! Our server was a sweetheart, which also is a nice difference to the sometimes crabby servers at Coast. The only thing I didn't really like about Nano was that it was way too cold in the restaurant. Also, their miso soup was so-so, But the rolls were great! And I love that they do sushi delivery in the area. I would go back and probably will soon!

This place is most excellent! My love and I have been back every week since it has opened. The atmosphere is a modern trance while the presentation is both quality and stimulating. This is a truly awesome sushi experience. BYOB, so bring a bottle of wine and take your time to enjoy it. As for takeout I have not tested their skills.

I wanted to like Nano, especially since it's basically the only place in this area other than Tank. The prices are pretty comparable to most other sushi places (cheaper than Tank). Specialty rolls: - The cilantro gimlet wasn't bad - maybe a tad too heavy on the cilantro flavor. - The heat wave was pretty splashy in terms of the presentation (they light the plate on fire) but the roll itself was incredibly spicy and hard to eat. Nigiri: nigiri was only so-so, something with the flavor/texture wasn't quite right. Vegetarian rolls : pretty standard - nothing exciting or too different there. Entrees: - Steak teriyaki was definitely over-cooked. Pretty much came out medium-well (leaning more towards well-done) - they didn't ask how we wanted it cooked. - Drunken noodles - generally pretty good. You can ask for chili sauce (like you would at a Thai restaurant), but the chili sauce is a little watery. This place is BYOB - and they will bring you fancy glasses for your beer if you want it. The service was really good when we were one of three tables there, but it filled up over the next hour or so and then it was tough to get our waitress (the only waitress there) over to our table in the back. It got crowded pretty quickly for dinner on Saturday - reservations recommended if you go during peak eating hours. Parking on Western is super easy since this is a few blocks south of montrose.

A friend recommended Nano to me and I was definitely not disappointed. The food was good, the service was fantastic, it's BYOB, inexpensive, and overall just a great dining experience. I stopped in with two friends on a very wet & cold weekday night. Upon sitting down, all we wanted to do was crack a bottle of wine and warm up a bit before ordering. We let the waitress know this and she immediately brought over wine glasses, uncorked our wine, and said no problem, take your time. I love not feeling rushed to order. When we did finally order, we started out with the tofu tower, mixed tempura, and we each got a seaweed salad. The tofu & the tempura were good, nothing jaw dropping but good light bites to start with (er, I guess calling two fried app's light bites is a bit of a misnomer...but you get my drift). The seaweed salad though, was amazing. The dressing was made by our waitress and it was tangy and delicious. I make all my own salad dressings, and I know how hard it can be to get the flavor just right, and this was perfection. I would honestly buy it if she bottled it up and sold it (I eat a lot of salads...so I'm a little dressing obsessed). We ordered three rolls, none of which I can remember the names off. At this point, we were about 2 bottles of wine in - what can I say. But, they were all very well prepare, had a lot of flavor, and the fish tasted fresh. When we finished eating, we lingered for a good hour finishing off our 3rd bottle of wine. Never once were we made to feel rushed to leave. Our waitress told us to take our time and enjoy. In fact she joked that it was impressive that 3 ladies finished 3 bottles of wine and weren't falling over! I will most definitely be back, hopefully in the near future.

I just love Nano Sushi! The atmosphere is cool and relaxed and although the venue is small, the music is at the perfect level to drown out nearly anyone else sitting in your vacinity. The music and decor have a kind of sexy feel to them. As for the food, it's amazing! The crab rangoon is awesome and is hand made by the owner every day. It's a different crab rangoon than I've ever had - it's light, not greasy, has a nice sized pocket of crab meat, and is very tasty. The gyoza and super white tuna ponzu is great as well for appetizers. We get those apps every time we go and haven't really tried the others, but I'm sure they're great as well. As for the rolls, the same story applies. We order the same ones pretty much every time and love them. The Ghost is the best roll I've ever tried in my life. The main ingredient inside the roll is a sweet squash (like sweet potato, almost), and on the top a fun spicy crab meat. The look of them reminds me of the ghosts on Ms. Pac Man, but I digress... The taste of that roll is awesome! Sweet yet spicy, but not too much of either. My other favorite is the Cilantro Gimlet. If you like cilantro, you'll love it. It's white fish, tuna, avacado, cilantro, jalapeno and it's wrapped in soy paper as opposed to seaweed. The oil/sauce the roll sits in on the plate is a tangy and makes the roll so juicy and flavorful. I really like it a lot. White Out is great, too, if you like super white tuna and the cruncy spicy tuna has the perfect amount of spice. Unfortunately, we don't branch out too much outside of these rolls, but I'm sure they're all just as good. At one point, we tried to keep a ranking of all the rolls we liked on our phones so that we remembered which ones we thought were a '10'. The ones I described above were a 10, so we order them every time. The people at this restaurant are so nice and the owner is amazing! She's one of the servers, and you you wouldn't know she was the owner unless you asked (first, because she serving, second, because she looks like she's 16 years old). But they're all super nice and really love their customers, you can tell. I highly recommend this place!
(5)Whit N.
Fantastic sushi. Really friendly atmosphere. We had soups and crab Rangoon (excellent) and maybe the best spring rolls I've ever had. The sushi was also quite good. I'm a huge fan of unagi, So my bar is very high when it comes to eel. This place nails it. It was so delicious I closed my eyes. Highly recommended. Check it out.
(5)Risa P.
I am kind of on the fence on this place. It is new and the staff seemed very welcoming and excited to see us. When we first got there at dinner time during the week it was not crowded at all but by the time we left, people were coming in for a BYOB dinner or doing take away. We got the spring rolls as a starter. They were pretty good, with a slightly spicy sauce. We got the Chicago roll, the spicy tuna crunchy and spicy salmon. The Chicago roll was big and had a lot of fish but not that exciting. I feel like it could have had some more oomph to it. The spicy tuna crunch was good--the tempura crunch really made a big difference. The spicy salmon was pretty average. I would say that the sushi was okay. My friend got the sweet potato tempura and that looked yummy. Maybe I would get that next time if I go? The service was good and nice, even a little excessive with the constant plate clearing and water refilling. However, everyone was very welcoming and nice and that really added to the experience.

Try the salmon teriyaki.
(3)Ian N.
Nano is great. It's rarely jammed and the servers are always friendly and attentive. Standout rolls include: Heat Wave California Crunch Ghost Black Forest Everything I've eaten here has been delicious. One of my favorites.
(5)Rebekka L.
Nano has the best sushi in the area. It always tastes delicious, everything I've tried. Reasonably priced, BYOB, and a delightful ambiance. Highly recommended!
(5)Michael C.
Oh Nano, you are conversation maker. We talked about your large pieces of salmon and how it just melted in your mouth. We talked in the morning about how tasty your ghost roll and salmon sunrise maki would make us come back. Your combination fried rice just hit the spot. We talked about how we are bringing back friends. Thanks for a great night and being byob. As for the review: location, location, location....put this small sushi spot in lincoln park, and it would be jammed. The Western and Irving park location puts it a little off the beat and path. Saturday night, first ones there at 7:15...by the time we left about 8 of the 12 tables (apx) were taken. I like that they have japanese sushi makers and the staff was just super nice. Everything we had was great. Ghost roll was fantastic, salmon sunrise roll was great. Generous on the individual pieces. Though their focus is sushi, they do have some Thai dishes. Loved the combination fried rice...nice big pieces of tender chicken, beef, and large shrimp....done perfectly. fair prices and byob. We'll be back.
(4)Jared S.
So lucky to have stumbled on this place! I started with the Tom Yum soup - which was AMAZING. My friend loved his spring rolls. The Spicy Dragon roll was beautiful and delicious. The New Mexico roll was a little small ... but it was also one of the lesser expensive maki on the menu. Best of all, we ordered deep fried tempura ice cream - which was just as great as it sounds. We didn't even think about wine, but next time we're bringing a bottle. (They don't even have a corkage fee.) Totally affordable and we left stuffed. It was a quiet Tuesday night at this little local sushi place - the first of many for us.
(5)Nicholas H.
Stopped in for a quick lunch; ordered the "nano raw" lunch special, which is three pieces of sashimi and six pieces of sushi roll (tuna and salmon), miso soup, and a seaweed salad for $9--quite reasonable. The sashimi was very nice, especially the white fish, which just melted in my mouth; the seaweed salad was also excellent. The sushi rolls and miso were fine, but a little undistinguished. All in all, a very nice meal for very little money; I'd come back again if I'm in the neighborhood, but I might order something more exciting, like the signature maki or some such.
(3)Trevor B.
Second time at the restaurant. Love the food but they need a second waitress/waiter to help out on taking orders. Would definitely go back especially since it's BYOB.

The Husband discovered Nano Sushi as a consolation prize while I was eating it up in New Orleans, and he went there twice while I was away. On my return, he promptly took me there - this is probably the best sushi I've had in Chicago, bar Tanoshi in Andersonville (but Nano is local to us). Agree with previous reviews - we gave up on the much-lauded Tank due to expensive, stingy sushi rolls and snooty service. Nano, while still on the somewhat pricey side, at least makes you feel that you're getting what you paid for. Service is friendly, rolls prepared quickly, and the music is so quirky and strange, but utterly endearing. Pick up a couple of icy Sapporos from the booze store a block away, and you're set for a delicious experience. Our favourites; Ebi tempura, California Crunch (a warm roll, and surprisingly delicious - probably your best value for money here), wakame (seaweed) salad, goyoza is some of the best we've had, inari (always a favourite), tamago, Heatwave (spicy, but not warranting the "are you sure?" warning), and the humble Boston - highlighting simple, fresh ingredients. Even their ginger - white, not fluro pink - is bloody good stuff. Sad part is, they're always nearly empty when we go. This place used to be a Thai location (not surprised they didn't survive - Thai food in Lincoln Square is everywhere, and excellent), and apparently has switched owners several times in the last few years. We're hoping Nano sticks around a little longer than those, which is why we were compelled to Yelp them - head over and try them out, you won't be disappointed.

Simply the best sushi in north center
(5)Sandy D.
This place is the best! Great sushi and great friends always makes for a wonderful evening out. My favorites are the mini-godzilla, spider roll and let's not forget the California Crunch! You get your bang for your buck. Fresh and BYOB you cannot beat it!
(5)Ron D.
This is a nice small sushi joint, they treat you great the food is good and fresh, they have a decent size menu, jus tell them to create you something thats not on the menu and they will.Check it out,its amazing how many people go to place just looking to give a bad review.
(5)Tessa M.
This place is a hidden gem. The sushi is great and very reasonably priced. The staff is super friendly and it is byob. You can get a great meal of sushi for $20 or less which is unheard of in the city.
(4)J Z.
One of few restaurant.com places I have rebought. Great bento box lunch portions and tastes good.
(4)Jen K.
Mmmmmmm sooo good sushi and delish shrimp pad thai! Will definitely be going again!
(5)Dan M.
Really wanted to like this place but it wasn't good. The beef/asparagus roll app was tougher than the tire on my truck and the maki rolls all smelled WAY too fishy. They were friendly on the phone and delivery was fast but it's not a place I would order from again, sorry Nano...
(2)Leslie C.
Sushi is literally on fire! I had the heat wave and it was awesome. Every time I come to Chicago, I make it a point to come here! Great service too
(5)Shara L.
No No Nanoi: When a customer says that their fish is not fresh and "too fishy" the appropriate response might be to apologize, ask the what they'd like instead and then check out the offering yourself to see if you agree. The correct response is NOT: "Well, it's fish." and then to further insult the customer when they order a non-sashimi entree by saying, "you will like that better." Seriously? Are you kidding me? What you don't know about me is that I have lived in the Caribbean for much of my adult life and I imagine that I KNOW fish better than most. Maybe you don't realize that fresh fish has neither a fishy smell or fishy taste. I left your restaurant completely disappointed by your response, by the quality of the two entrees that we ordered and by the complete lack of service in a restaurant that only had two tables filled. Please know that I'm saddened by my experience. I was so happy to finally have a chance to dine at Nano and was treating a friend to a birthday dinner. Next time, when I want to stay in the hood and go out on a Monday night, I will stick to your neighbor to the east where I have never gotten anything but a friendly greeting, a great meal and where on Mondays, I can eat a fabulous burger for $3. Such a shame! The two stars are for the environment which is so very, very lovely.
(2)Allison E.
Nano was fine. There was nothing wrong with it. The sushi was fresh and tasty, decent service, decent decor, BYOB. It just wasn't amazing. Every thing I ate was very basic. Basic done well, but nothing that wowed me. I have other sushi spots that I genuinely love. Still, if I were in the neighborhood again, I may come back as it wasn't super expensive. Perhaps I just didn't get the right thing off of the menu. Its decent enough for a repeat visit.
(3)James B.
good sushi! the heat wave comes with your plate on fire. I also had the thai iced tea which was great. It tastes like fireworks. I def will be coming back here.
(5)Anon N.
Um, have you guys *tasted* any other sushi in this town? Maybe not. Nano goes on my list as a "nah, no". The atmosphere is weird, and really not very comfortable. bold colors in a tiny space and absolutely FREEZING inside. Our server was friendly but took almost 10 minutes after we sat down to bring some water, and then she disappeared. Vanished. There were about 6 other people in the place--a couple and then a group of 4. I will also add that the group of 4 either worked there, or were friends with the owners, as they frequently got up, went behind the sushi bar and served themselves rice. Maybe I should've taken a hint about the service from them. About ten minutes after recieving water (waiting patiently with our menus folded), she came back and took an app. order and practically bolted again before we quickly stopped her and also put in our dinner order. The spring rolls (app) was the best thing of the night, though I could've done without the bowl of sauce that it was swimming in. These also took almost 40 minutes to arrive, and about 5 minutes later the main course came out. Really? The sushi itself didn't make me or my dining partner ill, but it certainly didn't taste very fresh. It was bland, sort of mushy, and, well, "clumsy" is the word I would use. You want cheap and fresh? Try Tokyo Marina or TamPopo. You want creativity and taste that will blow your mind? Go with Tanoshi. Don't bother with Nano.
(1)Sonia B.
Great atmosphere/decor, great service, good music, not so great food. I'm torn on this place...I really wanted to love it, but my tummy left unsatisfied. I got a few staple dishes during my visit and something just seemed to be missing. The appetizer and dessert were good though (calamari & mochi ice cream). I got Tom Kha soup which was SO BLAND. This is a soup that is a coconut milk base and usually has some zing to it...even when you don't order it spicy. This was the blandest Tom Kha soup I have ever had. It lacked in flavor. I was sooooo sad. Then I ordered tofu pad thai which was ok. It wasn't horrible, but wasn't the best I've had either. And then I ordered a sushi roll and it was horrible. I felt like I was eating cilantro only and it was so dry. Maybe I just ordered the wrong items off the menu. I probably won't go back unless it is an outing w/ a group of friends and they pick the place. The positive sides of Nano are definitely the service and atmosphere...which is why I really wanted to love this place.
(2)Diana L.
Blink and you'll miss it. Especially since it's between a Muffler place and a shady looking garage. My coworker and I had a 'business lunch' after 3pm just missing the lunch special pricing the week before last. We were regretful at having missed the deal but have since gone back and gotten it. Twice. Honestly, I have no problem spending full price in this delicious little sushi joint. We shared the Toyko Sunrise special roll, as well as the Sweet Potato Tempura, and a Salmon roll. The Toyko Sunrise was the star of the show with spicy tuna, asparagus, and tempura avocado topped with seared tuna and tobiko. It was a special little dish, looked gorgeous, and burst with freshness. The service is also exceptional. The waitress was kind and patient and the service is fast! I'm writing this review so that this oft variously occupied space will stay Nano for a long time. In a neighborhood of lovely sushi places this one is by far the best in presentation, choices, and taste.
(5)Lisa R.
Always a pleasant experience. Nice wait staff and easy to ask questions! On the third time I went here, the waitress remembered my food allergy!! Very impressive!! My favorite is the Futo- love the crunch and the Pisa- it's warm and has cheese and shrimp, yum!!
(5)Kyle P.
BEST SUSHI IN TOWN! Ok...maybe not the best, but very, very good. My wife an I go here regularly and are never disappointed. The sushi is fresh, the service is exceptional, and the prices are very reasonable. The decor of the place is the only drawback. It tries to have a modern vibe, but sometimes feels a bit cheap.
(5)Greer C.
I heart Nano. How can you go wrong? Yummy sushi, especially if you like it spicy. BYOB. Amazing service. I took my peeps to dinner there for my birthday and when I called to confirm my rezo, the waitress/hostess knew who I was and that I was confirmed for that night. She even apologized for not calling me to confirm because I forgot to give her my number. I'm so glad to have a new sushi spot to replace my old fav. BTW, I have also ordered delivery Thai and it wasn't amazing.
(4)Emilia W.
I ordered from here for the first time today and I will definitely do so again! They took less than 15 minutes for delivery! Incredible - this has never happened to me before. The food (I got the tempura roll and a cucumber salad) was delicious and fresh. Highly recommend :)
(5)Nancy F.
I don't understand why this place has so many good reviews. I ordered sushi and Pad Thai from here Friday night and it was terrible! I normally would NEVER throw out sushi (since I love it so much) but after eating about half of it I couldn't eat it anymore. I ordered the Heat Wave, Negi Hamachi, and Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll. The Heat Wave was the tastiest out of the three, but the texture was mushy. The rice was too wet on all three rolls, and there was too much of it as well. All three had minced up fish inside, which I don't particularly care for. But that wasn't even what bothered me so much. They just lacked flavor. I can think of SO many better sushi places than this place. The Pad Thai was by far the WORST I've ever tasted. It was so bad I didn't even eat more than a few bites. My husband agreed with me that it's the worst he's tasted as well. It's actually the Pad Thai that made me come on here to review this restaurant. We also ordered Crab Rangoon, based on the good reviews on here (some people said it's the best they've had). Well, these people must not know what good Crab Rangoon is, or maybe they don't have very good taste. I simply do not understand how they said it was that good, when really, it's SO bad! That too, was one of the worst I've tasted. Maybe the restaurant had a bad night? There should be no such thing though, if it's truly a good restaurant. Will never order from here again.
(1)Krista O.
This place didn't blow me away, but it is very nice, intimate, love the colors, service was great. Sushi rolls were great. The mini Godzilla was my favorite. They do have ALOT of spicy rolls, so if you dont like spicy it's probably a no go for you. Their fish was very fresh!. Give it a try, I would definitely go back they had other rolls I would have loved to try.
(4)Laurie R.
Overall disappointing. You get what you pay for. Maki is cheap, but the ingredients were not fresh. The avocado was so old in two of the rolls we ordered that it ruined the taste. You have to wonder about the quality of the other ingredients when a sushi chef thinks nothing of stuffing brown mushy avocado in a California role. The shrimp tempura was so heavily breaded and fried that it left me feeling like it was still sitting in my stomach two hours later. Service was slow and there is nothing special about the interior of this place.
(2)Rima K.
I found this place on grubhub.com I like the fact that they deliver after 10 but they are so over priced its a recession and there are so many cheaper places that have good Chinese food too.
(2)Chrissy H.
My friend and I came here on a Sunday night and it was quiet and comfortable (I imagine that when it's really busy it's a much tighter squeeze). It is also BYOB, which was great so we brought a couple of bottles of beer for which our server was happy to bring us some tall pilsner glasses. We ordered the edamame and Tom Yum soup, which were both really yummy. Then we ordered a few of the Signature Maki rolls: Cilantro Gimlet Heat Wave Ghost They were all excellent--fresh, flavorfull, and SPICY. The Heat Wave came out on a plate that was on fire, which was fun. But our favorite was the ghost as it was topped with shredded pieces of crab. All in all, a great neighborhood go-to sushi joint!
(4)Brett M.
I've been to nano both for dine in and take out since it opened recently. Take out is always ready right when they say it will be (usually withing 5-10 minutes). Ownership and staff are extremely friendly and attentive. The prices are excellent. Sushi: for nigiri and sashimi, you get nice, large cuts of very fresh tasting fish. A good amount of effort is put into attractive presentation as well. You'll see some specialty rolls on the menu that you probably haven't seen anywhere else. I look forward to trying more of them. This is not your typical neighborhood sushi fare. Thai: Also excellent. I have had the drunken noodles and pad thai and both were very good. Overall: Fantastic sushi and Thai food at very reasonable prices.
(5)Ruby F.
So my favorite server from my favorite sushi place, Agami opened up the place not too long ago. The decor is stylish, the seating intimate and the food good. When we went there was only one server who was waiting tables and answering phones etc. but she still did pretty good job of keeping it together. They have a variety of rolls at decent prices and will make you one if you don't see it on the menu. A big plus for me is they also have egg rolls and other hot appetizers that some sushi places do not offer.
(4)Andy H.
New place, and they are trying hard to make you happy. Nothing spectacular or anything you haven't seen before, but they do everything in a competent manner. This is a very small restaurant and clearly was built-out on a tight budget, but that's ok. It is byob, so bring your beer and wine. The prices are very reasonable ($5 for spicy tuna roll).
(3)Michelle M.
I love this place! I had been ordering from a not-so-good place across the street from my house. I was so happy when I discovered Nano just a few block from my house. I have only gotten carry out/delivery. The staff is always super friendly. The basic maki sushi is really great and their specialty rolls are awesome. The price is really great too.
(5)E. Q.
I frequently dine in and carry out from this place. I like the food here. This place gets five stars for what it is - a small neighborhood BYOB cheap sushi joint.
(5)Foodiegirl F.
They care about your experience! Owner Linda is so passionate about not only her food, but about you loving it! I live nearby and have eaten here 5-6 times. It's way better than Coast if you ask me. Gimlet Maki is so unique and delicious - just super-refreshing! The Heat Wave is spicy, yes, but the spice did not overpower the other flavors - really nice balance but you have to like it hot! Crunchy spicy tuna - yummy! Sweet potato roll - yummy! Love the music, love the decor, love that it's BYOB, love that Linda is so excited about her restaurant! I will frequent this place for sure!
(5)Ilene W.
My son and DIL have been raving about this place for a couple of months now. Yesterday they picked up lunch from Nano and brought it to my office, and now I understand. It was *delish*...and I can be pretty picky. They brought things they know to be my favorites, like Pad See Ew and Chicken Satay, and those really hit the spot. And they brought some sushi, too. I really loved the California Crunch; I'd never had anything quite like it. So definitely two thumbs up from me. Thanks, kids, for the great recommendation! I look forward to going to the restaurant and seeing what other surprises the place has in store.
(5)Art A.
EXCELLENT!!! Nano is one of the best new BYOB sushi restaurants in town. The waitress/owner (Linda) was friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was modern with red/black theme and funky cool music. Their signature maki's (Heat Wave, Nano Maki, Pisa) were delicious and the price was extremely good compared to a nearby well-known sushi joint. I recommend Nano for customers that want to bring a few friends and bottles of wine.

Quite possibly my favorite sushi spot! Not a large location which I prefer. BYOB is an added plus. I prefer rolls and I've yet to be let down. My fave - California crunch. Yes a California roll is for beginners but the crunch gives a warm added twist to a plain California. Mini Godzilla is a close second. Fish has always been fresh in my opinion. We've also enjoyed their pad Thai for our son and have not been disappointed :). ENJOY!

UPDATE: I used to love Nano Sushi. See my first review below. Since then, have gotten food poisoning and they have taken forever for small-ish rolls that made me sick 2 times in a row (glutton for punishment, or an optimist). Maybe it's better if you eat in, but can't deal with being sick anymore. THEY ARE ALWAYS AT MY HOUSE IN UNDER 40 MINUTES. The most recent delivery was 33 minutes. Some of the items are hit or miss, but the ones that aren't a miss are absolutely amazing My family and I can order from here and find enough things we each like to satisfy everyone. Some things to avoid/ note: I don't like their octopus nigiri. It's very chewy. Their eel nigiri is good, but drenched in sauce. Like, drenched. Their miso soup isn't very good (but I adore miso soup so I still order it. I've just had way better) They don't salt their edamame, kinda weird My favorite is the potstickers, tempura, Big Gun roll, and Thai iced tea. My mom loves the tempura as well, and the California roll. I use grub hub and have only gotten sushi and appetizers.

I order delivery from here at least once a week. I'm addicted to their Spicy Tuna Tartare. They have great offers too.

I went to the restaurant today and had a great experience. Super great food and great fast service. One of the best places around. If you want to have great sushi and enjoy yourself this is the place for you.

Hubby and I tried this the other day and it was pretty good...nothing outstanding, but everything we ordered tasted fresh, looked nice. The service was also very friendly. Overall we shared a few rolls (pictured), some rice and calamari. My only gripe is the ambiance/cleanliness. While I'm sure the black and red look a lot more sheik at night, during the day it had more of an old strip club sort of feel. Also, there *must* be a better place for their fridge/freezer than right next to the bathroom. It's probably the OCD in me talking, but I just felt that was a bit too close for comfort. As an aside, I could also hear the microwave going, which was a little disheartening.

I'm sorry, but I don't trust the freshness of their sushi. I had a bad experience here with a friend and will never go back. We ordered a pretty good assortment of nigiri and rolls. We tried about five different items, one was fresh, the rest were horrible. We were so disappointed, we didn't even bother saying anything, we just mentally wrote them off for life. BTW, this place always seems to be pretty empty; not many customers. I've learned one thing about sushi, you need to go to the busy places that turn their inventory. This is very important!

Although I have only been here twice I wanted to wait and give it another try before giving this place 5 stars. Let me start with the service, they are all very nice the waitress and the chefs always make sure you're satisfied. My husband and I had 4 types of sushi but I can't really remember all the names we did have the heat wave and mini Godzilla which literally makes a party in your mouth once you take that first bite!
(5)Kyle A.
Fantastic sushi across the board. Great BYOB place. The mini Godzilla is the greatest sushi of all time!
(5)Kristina R.
Best vegan sushi ever! I love this place.
(5)Esther A.
Recently had an adequate meal here. The rolls were much better than the nigiri, which mostly tasted over-refrigerated. Lots of the rolls are spicy, though (one included a whole, unseeded jalapeno), and lots of them have fried things in them, so they're not precisely showcasing the fish. The BYOB is a plus, and the room is sleek and attractive. Service was friendly and the total cost of the meal wasn't outrageous. But I've had far better mid-range sushi at other neighborhood places, so I probably won't be back.

Nano's sashimi special is fantastic -- the best deal on sushi I've ever seen in Chicago. With delivery from grubhub you get 12 fillets (chef's choice, but I've always received three each of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and white tuna), miso soup, and a free appetizer (egg roll, spring roll, or crab rangoon). For $25, it's ideal for two to share for lunch, and that's a pretty incredible deal for such perfect sashimi. I'm a major fan of this spot. Delivery is totally recommended. I'm looking forward to dining in!

Came here after reading all the great reviews on yelp and a recommendation from my sister. On a Tuesday night, I came here with a party of three. As we walked in, we noticed the place was small and cozy looking. The black walls, red cushion seats, and dimmed lights created a romantic atmosphere. As we sat down, menus and water was given to us. We ordered immediately: - Spicy Tuna Tartar: tuna on top of avocado with black tobiko. The tuna didn't taste fresh and the texture was mushy. The hot sauce oil drizzled over the tuna tartar and on the plate created a nasty oily film. - Rainbow Roll: assorted fish (tuna, salmon, white tuna, squid) on top of California rolls. The texture of the fish tastied chewy and not fresh at all. The sushi was wrapped poorly and just started falling apart when picked up. One of the worst rolls (if not the worst) I have ever tastied. - Mini Godzilla: shrimp tempura with masago, cream cheese, avacado, and cucumber sprinkled with flakes of tempura and drizzled with spicy mayo and unagi sauce. This roll was the one of the best tasting out of the bunch. The shrimp tempura was fried just right and the cream cheese gave it a nice flavor and texture. - Ebi Tempera: shrimp tempura with cucumber, masago, and avacado in a unagi sauce. This roll was pretty tastiless to me. Did they forget the seasonings?? - Big Gun: spicy salmon, shrimp tempera, cream cheese, and avocado drizzled with spicy mayo and unagi sauce. This roll's ingredients complimented each other well. The only bad thing was that the sushi was also poorly wrapped and fell apart like the rainbow roll. - Heat Wave: spicy tuna over spicy shrimp, cucumber, avocado, tempura crunch with unagi sauce and black tobiko. This dish had fire surrounding the sushi which gave it a nice presentation. But besides that, there was nothing wow about this roll. It didn't have any taste and the fish wasn't fresh. - Salmon Unagi: The salmon was not fresh at all. It had the same chewy texture as the fishes on the rainbow roll. - Sweet Shrimp (raw shrimp): The shrimp was overcooked and was tasteless (according to my friend, since I don't eat raw shrimps.) - Tamago (egg): The egg was just mediocre and had no taste. Overall, I'm very disappointed in this establishment. I have tried so many different types of sushi restuarants from buffets type styles and traditional styles, and I would say this is the worst place I have eaten sushi. The fish was not fresh and everything was poorly made. If you are in the area and is craving sushi, I would recommend you to find another place.

Nano Sushi is, hands down, my favorite sushi place. The owner and the supporting staff are great! They always remember us when we come in. If our favorite table is taken the also always give us the pick of the available tables. As for the food, from the appetizers to the sushi to the warm entrees, it's all terrific! The Gyoza is great and the Crab Rangoon is hand made and also is very tasty. As for the rolls, my favorite is the Ghost - nice and spicy and full of flavor. The White Out is also another favorite - perfect flavor with excellent crunch. We usually order the same thing every time we go, so one night they brought us a "surprise" roll which was made up of all our favorite parts of the other rolls - they've kept this recipe and make it for us when we come in. As for the warm entrees, the Basil Chicken is very good and will always make it extra spicy if you ask. The setting is great as well. The lighting is nice and the music is appropriate for just about anyone. Often times we get there for a late dinner and end up closing the joint, the staff never make us feel like we need to leave and are always very nice when we finally roll out of there. This is absolutely my go-to place for sushi. Love it!

BYOB's that actually have atmosphere are not always easy to come by. This place has got it. It was bustling at 8pm on a Saturday night, I would think about making a reservation next time as it's small and there's not really much room to wait around. The menu offered a number of vegetarian rolls all in the $4-6 range. The portions were generous, lots of deliciousness crammed in each piece. The seaweed salad was good as well, but beware vegetarians - it arrived with a dollop of fish eggs on top! I almost mistook them for shredded carrots, thank goodness I realized this drastic error in time. The service was great, they even invited us to start with our BYOB'ing while we waited for our table, offering glasses and a wine opener. I'm definitely looking forward to going back here!
(5)Katt C.
I've tried a lot of sushi places in the city, and this is one that i always return to. It's not a flashy place, but its awesome for its price. Eating in is better than delivery, but delivery is always super fast! And their lunch specials are really awesome!!
(4)Kennen M.
I came on the recommendation from a friend in the hood. The interior is mod with red vinyl booths and it is BYOB. The sushi was a miss for me totally. An indicator of a good sushi place is their spicy tuna. If they serve their spicy tuna all chopped up and mushed, then it is an indicator that they don't use the best quality fish. Actually my last bite of spicy tuna roll felt like I stuck a wad of gelatinous, slimy lard in my mouth - yuck. I tried a handful of rolls and none of them pleased me. Rolls with shrimp in them were foul as the shrimp tasted that they have been frozen, thawed, frozen again, thawed again and then had been sitting at room temperature for hours. The saddest point is when I discovered that the California roll was the best roll of all of them. Still, it wasn't an outstanding roll, just the most palatable one.

My daughter, her boyfriend, and I decided to have some lunch here. We love sushi but the boyfriend wasn't feeling it. We all tried food from the lunch specials menu and were very happy with the quality of the food. The fish is fresh, though a little small. We didn't walk away hungry. The boyfriend's pad thai smelled great and he loved it too. We will return soon.

I've been back a number of times since my original review, and I've never been disappointed. I've tried the Heat Wave, Philly, New Mexico, spicy tuna, spicy scallop, spider, and mini godzilla, and they all have been fantastic. However, the last time I went there, the Pisa roll blew every roll I've ever had out of the water. It's warm, which would throw some people off, but the mix of shrimp, cream cheese, green pepper, mozzarella cheese, oregano, and unagi sauce was just phenomenal. This was by far the most inventive roll I've seen. The waitress seemed excited when we ordered it too, like no one usually orders it, but she knew how good it was. Everything there always tastes so fresh. Oh, and the crab rangoon is really good too. This is a great spot for a date or dinner with friends. As another yelper commented, they never rush you and genuinely seem happy when you are enjoying yourself. I love this place!
(5)Michael F.
I got sushi from here a couple months ago, but this still ranks as the worst sushi I have had in Chicago. The fish was warm and slimy and poorly made. It was take out but I had to throw it all away.
(1)Natalie A.
I can never get enough of Nano! Edamame... Shitake roll... Philly maki... Heat Wave... Santa Fe.... Pisa.... Shrimp pad-tai... Tai-Iced Tea... Amazing Staff! Always fresh, always delicious!
(5)Keith A.
The amount of times I've passed by here is in the stratosphere. I do this often, where it will take lots of times for me to pass by some places before I finally say: yes, I'm getting food from there. Oh, how foolish I was in not doing this sooner. Since I was in a lazy mood, I went with takeout. I went with some more standbys as I just wasn't in that adventurous of a mood. I'll start with the nigiri. I got pieces of hamachi, salmon and big eyed tuna. And we had great success with all of them. The hamachi wasn't the best that I've had, but teh salmon was through the roof. Full melt in your mouth. The tuna was absolutely great a well. What I liked most though was the rice. They used less rice than I'm used to, and I was pretty happy with that. I got more fish than rice which is all I ever really want. I also had to get some maki as well. It's just what I do. I got a spider roll and a spicy tuna roll. The spicy tuna was all in the roll and without a sauce on top. Personally, I generally like a spicy sauce on top, but the roll was quite good. The spider roll was very good, but I'm generally partial to soft shell crab. Everything was pretty affordable. Certainly isn't the cheapest sushi out there, but for the quality it brings at the prices they have, it's a home run. While I was very briefly inside, I liked the general vibe. Needless to say, Nano Sushi is well on my radar now.

I used to live a block away from this place. and it changed names about three times in the three years I lived in the neighborhood. After doing my friends hair who lives across the street we decided to stop in and take a bite. I couldn't get over the fact how many times they had changed the name menu and ambiance to make something work. I simply was just not impressed. Inexpensive sushi isn't really appetizing to me. Call me a snob but, I'd have to say no thanks to this.
(2)Katie Z.
Super fast delivery! Spicy tuna roll is no joke - spicy! My fav roll I ordered was the New York but they were all tasty.
(4)Jenna S.
Yummy! One of my friends always keeps her eyes out for Groupons, coupons, etc. for any sushi restaurant since she loves sushi so much. She invited my fiance and I out with her and her fiance last week to try out this latest sushi place on her list. Just too yummy! Our choices: -Nano Maki* -Cilantro Gimlet -Spicy Salmon Crunch* -Volcano Roll -Spicy Tuna -Big Gun* Those with a little * denote my favorite rolls. The Big Gun and the Nano Maki were my absolute favorite! The sauces were delicious, the fish was fresh - all the flavors combined to make something wonderful. BYOB, credit cards accepted (though it's cash only when you use coupons, gift cards, etc.). Parking on the street was really easy and there's a liquor store up the street at Leland if you need to buy something. The decor is new and very cute. I really like the red paint on the walls that compliments the dark wood of the furniture. They also had little chopstick rests that were my favorite part of the evening (very classy, indeed).

Good sushi and good thai combo place. I will be back!
(4)Julia K.
Lazy Monday night and my boyfriend and I decided to order some sushi - since the best place in the city; TAMPOPO is closed Mondays (how dare they?!). Willing to try something new, we browsed yelp and came across Nano Sushi. The menu looked good, quite creative with their maki rolls. We ordered quite a bit, even got some free stuff (yeah!) and waited so so patiently. After a state of confusion the delivery got here and we were actually quite excited to open the bag .. and then... disappointment. The nigiri looked like the chef prepared them with a hammer. Spicy tuna must have taken the rocky road since the pieces got all shaken up in the container and lost its form. There were other parts to it too ... it just looked like the Dominicks leftovers after a 20h hour day in display: just pitiful! We had way better and will have again in the future.

This brand-spanking-new Sushi spot is just a hop and a skip from my home, no jump necessary. That didn't mean I was going to like it. But I did! It's small and byob, and swankily-done in red and black. The music was interesting in a good way. Kind of ambient electronic, kind of soul? We were impressed. The service was friendly and efficient. I don't ask for anything more. The rolls were very good. They offer a full array of options from simple to extravagant (one comes out flaming!). In addition, they have a classic selection of Thai options that looked amazing. I recommend taking your non-sushi-loving friends here when you want sushi and you both want to BYOB. Glad to have Nano in the neighborhood!
(4)Kori E.
I have been here twice now and have been pleased with both experiences! The sushi is always super tasty and fresh, and the wait staff is very friendly and accommodating. Love that is obviously BYOB!! I would definitely recommend the Cilantro Gimlet very fresh with a nice kick of spice to it and the Pisa, it legit kind of takes like a pizza! Everything we have ordered here has been super good. They have outdoor seating as well for when the weather gets nice! We will definitely be back!
(5)Kat S.
This was the most disappointing sushi I have ever had. small portions, nothing tasted fresh. I will never eat this again.
(1)Jay H.
Sushi and maki are excellent. Quality of fish is top rate and creativity of rolls (flaming and otherwise) is very good. Add sweet BYO and a cool interior with fun music and friendly service you have a recipe for a terrific night out. The only downside is that cooked food (we had Chicken Teriyaki and Beef Panang for non-fish eater) was just OK. Stick to what they do best.
(4)KL S.
I'm stunned by the 5-star reviews. We ordered delivery and it was some of the worst sushi I've ever tasted. Mushy and fishy with old, crunchy rice. Definitely not fresh at all. Thankfully, we did not get sick, but I wouldn't risk eating here again.
(1)Jexenia G.
I ordered via delivery, not only did my food arrive fast but it was so delicious! My tuna tartare was one of the best I ever had! So perfectly made! I don't think I like too many sushi places but Nano sushi went above in food quality! Great job!!
(5)Torry H.
Great quick sushi. This is my go to delivery place. If you like cooked stuff--get the big gun. It's my sons favorite.
(5)Katie A.
The atmosphere here is wonderful, very intimate and a great place to come as a couple or with a group of friends. Some of the best crab rangoons I've had in the city. And, you can get your sushi served to you set on fire! Beautiful presentation. Highly recommend this restaurant and it's BYOB!
(5)Tracy D.
One of my favorite go-to places for a yummy romantic dinner or super fast pick up/delivery! I've ate-in and ordered from Nano at least a dozen times - and have never gone wrong. Crab rangoon is some of the best in the city. Never greasy and they don't skimp on the filling. Always super attentive & friendly service. Some of my favs rolls include the Cilantro Gimlet, Tokyo Sunrise & Mini Godzilla. Great prices; I typically split 3 maki rolls + an app between 2 people. And then the chocolate moshi for dessert typically comes with dipping chocolate & strawberry slices. Nano Sushi keep doin what you're doin!
(5)Karina K.
Nano has the best sushi in town. I've been to a ton of high end sushi restaurants in Chicago and none have sushi better than Nano. The fish is high quality, the rolls are interesting with great variety, and the staff is amazing! I have never had a disappointing experience with Nano and I don't even want to go to other sushi places anymore.
(5)Sean L.
Good Food and a totally sweet spot for date night! I took my beautiful wife here for a quick lunch and the food was well prepared and we both were satisfied with our meals and sushi we ordered. Pick up the check and close the deal!
(4)Jon H.
I ordered from Nano Sushi about half an hour ago. I ordered online, where there isn't really much room for misunderstanding. I ordered 1 avocado sushi, 1 veggie tempura, 1 sweet potato and asparagus sushi combo, a basil fried rice, and a miso soup. The veggie tempura was flabby, with a truly disgusting texture. Additionally, it contained shrimp, which are, as I think we all know, not a vegetable. Finally, the sauce was essentially canola oil with sesame seeds floating in it. The sauce had no taste and seemed to roll off of the tempura as soon as you finished dipping The avocado sushi was dry, unappetizing, and the avocado was brown in spots. As for the sweet potato/asparagus combo, they didn't even include it in the bag, instead they gave me yet another order of flabby, shrimp-filled 'veggie' tempura. The basil fried rice was admittedly okay, but at nearly 9 bucks with tax, not worth the money. It was cold already, which is suspicious if it was freshly made. How does fresh food get cold inside a takeout container in under 30 minutes, not counting prep and cooking time? The miso soup was disgusting and had a soapy aftertaste. I've had amazing miso soup before and this was probably the biggest disappointment. I swear on my life that I'm not just talking trash for no reason. This was literally the worst restaurant experience I've had in my entire life. EDIT: The carnivore friend I gave the flabby tasteless shrimp tempura to is now throwing up about an hour later. Wonderful! Stay away at all costs.
(1)Tiff W.
After perusing Yelp and failing miserably at finding places that delivered on Sunday night, we finally found Nano Sushi. We were famished and ordered two sushi entrees (came with miso soup) and an order of crab rangoon, which was free (spend $20 and get a free appetizer promo listed on their website). Ten minutes later (YES, TEN!), our food arrived! Their sushi was solid. The tuna roll & shrimp tempura roll that came with the sushi entrees were pretty solid as well. I can't say that anything was knock your socks off amazing, but we did order pretty standard fare. Since we didn't order any of their special rolls, I can't really judge on how good their rolls really are, but for a Sunday night delivery kind of place, Nano Sushi is a great option.
(4)Chris L.
This place is great!!! My wife loves their veggie maki (the sweet potato and the avocado especially). I'm addicted to the dragon and mini Godzilla!
(5)Jeff C.
Excellent food, nice people and reasonable prices. They have outdoor seating too. Their non-sushi entrees are great too. This is easily my favorite sushi restaurant.
(5)Cindy K.
I suppose I should have gotten the rolls with random fried crap and sauces dumped on them. I didn't, so I was left underwhelmed by what Nano had to offer. I'm so glad I tried this place with a coupon for $25 off. I would have been seriously pissed at my $55 bill. I ordered from the Japanese menu. Left unsatisfied but eventually soothed by yummy bubble tea down the street.
(2)Heather H.
Nano, you did it. You made me dream of sushi, which is hard to do for a vegetarian! They have a Black Forest roll, simply amazing. Veggies packed tight, with some fried tofu on top drizzeled in the love of a black sesame sauce, and surrounded by a nice chili oil for dipping. Where have you been all my life?! I go with their Thai dishes for my entree. I'm in love with the Tofu Basil, since it's actually the perfect amount of spicy. Good portion sizes as well. As for the fish, my husband says phenomonal. They really know what they are doing. Prices are good, staff is super friendly, and it's BYOB. I'd recommend making a reservation to ensure a table, the space is small. We got lucky the last two times there, but we did snag the last table available.
(5)Sarah L.
I found a deal on the Tribune's website for Nano Sushi $20 for $40 worth of food. I picked this deal up because sushi can add up quick. My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday evening and the place was empty. There was a party of two already enjoying some rolls. We had the Heatwave (they light the plate on fire!) it was a nice touch. The roll itself was pretty hot so if you don't like heat, you should probably skip this roll. We also had a couple maki rolls and a mini dragon roll. My favorite was the Heatwave but I love spicy. Nano also offers Thai food which I haven't had yet but my husband said it is pretty good. They have $6.50 lunch specials so stop in if you're in the neighborhood. Nano is a great alternative to Tank Sushi. The staff are very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back!
(4)carolyn h.
I have been there about eaten there 5 times and gotten take out once. I really enjoy it and it is now my "neighborhood sushi place" This place is really cute. I like that I can go in their after a full days work and just relax with a bottle of wine, or I can walk in their dressed up ready to go out and I still feel like I'm in the right place and not overdressed. The people that work there are always so kind, attentive and always want to make sure you are enjoying your food. On multiple occasions they have given us free soup or Crab Rangoon. I especially like their rolls because they are on the spicy side. I like spicy a lot. A friend of mine doesn't like spicy, she told them that and they made sure to lay off the heat, making her a few pieces just for her. It was very nice. I also like them because they don't break the bank (compared to some of the other sushi options in the area). My favorite items: 1) Heat Wave 2) Ghost Maki (it's a seasonal item I believe) 3) Sunrise Maki 4) Drunken Noodles
(5)Brenda S.
I had a great experience here. The sushi is great. We tried several different rolls and all of them were delicous. Customer service was good too.
(5)Yuly M.
This place is sooo cute and comfy, I love it! Ordered out for lunch and it was delish! They have lunch specials and also offer thai food. I ordered some rolls on the side and was not dissapointed. Their basil chicken was on point with the spicyness and flavor. I LOVE spicy food and this was probably one of my favorite places that has that. I met the owner and she was really nice and friendly. You can tell that place is her everything and is making sure it reaches your expectations. Love that its new to the area and hope it sticks around. I will be back. O and it's BYOB forever =)
(4)Ted C.
Wow..this was BY FAR my spiciest sushi experience ever! My girlfriend and I ordered the Cilantro Gimlet and Heat Wave rolls, and let me tell you that our mouths were on fire the rest of the night. Way too much heat packed into their 2 signature makis (in my opinion). I would advise only ordering ONE of these, and then order something sweeter/milder to compliment the meal. OR bring a sweet moscato/riesling to pair w/ these rolls. I will agree w/ the rest of the yelp-nation and say that our server was great, and very attentive. The food was average. I still think the best sushi on the northside is Rise (which NOW allows BYOB on Sun/Mon/Tues nights), so check it out! I really dug the atmosphere, as they had loungy-house music playing in the background. I really liked the limited/intimate seating area. Great for a date night, as it did not get loud w/ others conversations.
(3)Michael P.
Nano Sushi is one of our Favorites in the city. We frequent the western location! The mini Godzilla and Heat Wave are our favorites. I also enjoy that they deliver when we are feeling lazy! I would highly recommend this place! Quaint setting and BYOB!
(4)Thongsy S.
I love that this place is just down the street from me. I didn't expect much and came here for a quick bite after my workout but I was pretty blown away. Everything I ordered tasted delicious and best of all, BYOB...how can you beat that? The servers are super friendly and accommodating. I've been back 3 times in the last 2 weeks. A must try is the spicy tuna tartare, so good I can lick the plate clean (and I did). The top gun maki is another good one. I also really like their spicy salmon or tuna hand rolls. I have not tried their Thai menu so I can't vouch for that portion but the sushi is pretty good.
(4)Beth J.
Moved to the area recently and was looking for a local sushi restaurant that we could walk to. I am always sceptical when trying a new sushi place as I always wonder if it is going to be fresh, and if all of their roles are going to be loaded with cream cheese. We were pleasantly surprised. Started with edamame and then moved to the Heat Wave and Salmon Sunshine. Those two rolls were the perfect balance as the Heat Wave had a little kick to it and the Salmon Sunshine was a soothing roll. The Heat Wave is served on a bed of fire which was quite cool. Tried a couple more of the classic rolls and thought all was good. The best part is that it is BYOB and no corkage fee.
(5)Maureen S.
Order the Spicy Tune Rice Crispy and you will keep coming back. Promise. There are a lot of things that make this place great, but if you're going to get one thing, this is it!
(5)Timothy S.
Pretty good sushi, but a little disappointed in the amount you get with each roll. For example, their 'crispy creme' roll was absolutely phenomenal, however you only receive about 5 pieces. Some rolls had more; so maybe it depends on what you order. But I feel for their signature rolls at $12 and $14 per roll, you should get more. But the food was delicious. The service was very good, the staff was super nice and friendly. Tried the coconut shrimp curry and pad see ew- both were great. And they have excellent Crab Rangoon. I would go back or order from them again.
(3)Javier Q.
Mmm I was craving sushi and I HAD to come here again. The Mini Godzilla sushi taste so freakin good in my mouth each bite takes me to a higher level. I definently recommend this place and the plating is beautiful as well!
(5)Lizmarie O.
Cozy environment, their 4 dollar cali roll is a good deal. Love their crab ragoon.
(5)Carley M.
Oh MAN this place is deeee-liscious! I've been twice, and ordered out once, and every time the food is consistently better than any of the other local thai eateries. I LOVE their Tom Yum- very spicy, the tofu tower appetizer is tasty, and the spring rolls kicked other spring rolls bum. Our server was beyond nice and left us with a warm and fuzzy feeling when we left. The only reason a star was deducted was the first time we went there our food took a little too long to come out (we were close to the only ones there), the place is a little cramped, and the air conditioner was blowing so hard last night we all had to put on our jackets! Oh, and one more sad thing is that the super white tuna comes with only one piece, where you can go around corner and get two per order. Other than that - way to go Nano! Can't wait to come back!
(4)Ed Z.
Excellent presentation. California crunch, rainbow roll, dragon roll, Tokyo sunrise tasty; Caribbean roll esp. good. Who'd have thought you'd find a first class sushi shop on the old Western Ave. auto strip?
(5)Scott B.
This is a 2-star establishment-but, the Nano gals & guys were super duper cool, so... I've been wanting to try this place as soon as I saw the sign go up. This area definitely, or desperately needs competition against the Tank machine over in the Square. Unfortunately, in my opinion, they are a step below in quality. Four of us went in last Tuesday, and we were they only patrons in this sleek, I'm really trying to be contemporary kind of way, but ran low on cash, joint. The vibe: Uh, an early 2000'ish, typical red walls flanked with black tables, Walmart chrome accents, with subtle Japanese funk playing in the background. {Yawn} Seen it...many times. The sushi: Not fresh, and quite honestly, overpriced. The Nigiri had a 2 day old fishy taste. Nope, Big Eye Tuna should not have this flavor. Sorry. The rolls were edible, but the lettuce was turning brown, and half way through our dinner, I had to make a mad dash to the mens room to unleash the volcano roll that I just consumed...maybe two minutes prior. I've eaten some spicy entrees before, but this mayo, or cayenne, literally sprayed right through me. Who knows, maybe I have Chrohns Disease? Average sushi. Above average, if not excellent service.

My family and friends went to this place for dinner last week and had a rather bizarre experience. We asked for our order and that of our friends to be billed separately. That resulted in their entire order being placed first and our food to only come to the table when they were done eating. Did not make for a great experience as we sat watching them eat (especially for my children who had to watch their two little friends eat while having nothing...). The sushi itself was fine (not exceptional but good) but the logistics were weird...
