My second time here, and I LOVE it. A replacement for Tank, bar none one of the worst sushi restaurants ever, Miku is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. Food as art - the preparation alone is outstanding, but the quality meets the visual beauty. Great sashimi, unique hot and cold appetizers, wonderful bento boxes, and GREAT ramen. This "old gal" even dug the hip music, and the cocktail menu? OUTSTANDING. A great place for lunch, either solo or w/a date.

One of the best bowls of Tonkotsu Ramen ive had in the city. They also have a great outdoor cafe to enjoy your meal or eat inside in the clean, modern, beautiful dining room. Great service and really great food.

Recent visit was disappointing. When they are busy service is too slow (almost an hour to get rolls after ordering). The sushi chefs are clearly filling to go orders at the same time - shouldn't they be prioritizing diners in some better way so we don't wait that long? Worse however, was the rolls we finally got. The rice was poorly cooked and therefore none of the rolls tasted good.

I would've given this place at least a 3 star BUT, lets just say this has been the worst kind of service I've received in a while. We arrived for our reservation at 8:15 pm , AT 8:15pm. We, immediately ordered our first bottle of wine, miso soup, iced teas, along with four appetizers/small plates. It didn't take them long to bring those out, so lets say no more than 15 minutes after we sat down, we ordered uni shooters ( she brought one out of the two) we had to wait an additional 30 mins for the second shooter, OKAY, FINE! Had a few smokes, waiting on our actual sushi order........ Dot, dot, dot and some more dots... An hour and 12 minutes later, she brings the plate of HALF of what we initially ordered, saying that she JUST NOW found out from the sushi chef that they were out of 3/7 of what we ordered. It takes more than an hour to let your guests know?! The chef took an hour to even start on our meal???? I don't get it. I just don't. I've been all over the world eating sushi... Come the f*ck on!

My first bowl of real ramen noodles turned out to be one of the best things I ever ate. yum!!!!! The place is really attractive and the service awesome. I want to eat this like everyday!

I came here after herw in that there was a decent place that served ramen nearby and I couldn't pass up the opportunity. I had the tonkotsu ramen while my bf had the spicy roasted garlic miso ramen. The egg was cooked to perfecto but I couldn't say the same about my noodles, which were a tad overcooked and soggy. The pork was comparable to other ramen places in the city. My bf was sad that the portion sizes are smaller than we expected and he was still hungry afterwards. However, we did have a scoop of green tea ice cream and chocolate cookie dough fried wontons (yum). Overall, I'd probably come by again especially since it's the closet place with ramen to my apartment. :)

Living in North Center, you accept that most sushi will be crap. Miku is actually really solid! I'm glad this place is here. The space is big and makes an attempt at modern posh decor. Sushi is quality, rice is firm, fish portions in the rolls are generous. The prices are not cheap, but it's reasonable for the quality. Get the fiesta maki and the yoko maki, they were the best rolls.

Miku is a great restaurant for all Japanese food lovers. Miku was very crowded, but luckily we had a reservation. The hostess was very nice and so was the atmosphere. The service was ok, but not horrible. It took about 15 minutes until the first course was served. We had the Tuna tar tar which was very good, with all the right flavors. A few minutes later, the second course came. My Philadelphia Maki was very good and I would defiantly order it again. Overall, I enjoyed my visit to Miku very much.

Decent spot. We had the spicy miso which was okay but pretty salty and the garlic edamame which was okay. Then mistakenly ordered the chilean sea bass bc I didnt realize it was panko style so more like a fish and chips thing. Not for me but that was my bad. Then had the flaming dragon which was good and came out on a flaming plate! Overall I wasnt super impressed so I probably wont be back anytime soon.

Having received a recommendation to try out Miku Sushi Lounge, I was all for it. Seeing that they served lunch, I chose to go during noon on a Saturday so that I was not caught waiting for a table during the evening rush. Kobacha squash and crab soup. Sunrise martini. Unagi maki. Spicy shrimp maki. Ebi tempura maki. Chocolate cream martini. Chocolate chip cookie dough egg rolls. I could eat the soup endlessly. It was awesome, fantastic, delicious, and all those things. As to the sunrise martini, I could have downed it like a glass of Kool Aid. My hat goes off the bartender for not mixing the drink like he was trying to convert someone to alcoholism in just a few sips. All of the maki rolls were worthy. And with there being 8 pieces per roll, it was filling. The chocolate chip cookie dough egg rolls were different. I think that had the dough been baked and encased in the fried wonton, I would have been wowed completely. The soft texture was good, but not out of this world. The chocolate cream martini was out of this world, though. The service was quite attentive. Perhaps having gone for lunch when the restaurant was not bustling with customers, the staff was more personable. I reserved one star because there are several other items on the the menu that I want to sample before moving my rating up a notch. In the meantime, Miku Sushi Lounge is in my slideshow.

Came here with friends for Sunday lunch. We found this place randomly and decided to try it anyway. We all got the lunch special: miso soup + 4 rolls for $14. The rolls were very tasty, hands down for the spicy octopus, and the portion was big. Would definitely come back!

New spot with good quality stuff. We have 2 specialty rolls and the lunch menu that includes a miso soup and 3 maki rolls of your choice. Pricing I think it's right for location and quality. It's a medium to small size place with very nice deco and friendly customer service. We didn't have drinks this time. I will update the review if / when we do.

Took myself on a lunch date and sat outside. The waitress Jennifer was a sweet heart and very kind. My food was perfect and delicious. The outside seating was comfortable and great for people watchers. They did a wonderful job with presentation as well in true Japanese style. Overall I enjoyed my experience and will definitely come back the next time I visit Chicago.

Really enjoyed my recent lunch trip here. They have some great lunch specials and the sushi was very fresh. I saw someone's ramen bowl go out too and now I can't wait to go back and give it a try.

So we were really hoping for a great sushi place to satisfy our local cravings. Hot Woks is fine for week night take out but Tank used to be a go-to any day of the week sushi. This place was only slightly better than hot woks and about 50% more expensive. The appetizer skewers were cute but $2 for a quarter of a scallop wrapped in a third of a piece of bacon just doesn't seem worth it. Plus, the bacon was rather fatty and the scallop undercooked. The beef wrapped asparagus used the lowest quality of beef and were it not for the sweet teriyaki sauce applied liberally, it would have been barely palatable. Now the rib eye skewer- that was good. Mellody's Latin heat was fine, Bryn's ocean sundae, pretty good and the presentation of my sashimi was nothing less than artful. However, that doesn't make up for spending $100 plus tip and not a single drink. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be back. P.S. The dude was sweeping the floor all around our table while we're eating, then he actually came UNDER our table and wanted me to move my feet. I asked him to wait till we were through and he then left. That was the straw.

YUM. YUM. YUM. Now I can get delicious tonkatsu ramen for lunch! The sushi is all very fresh tasting, well-prepared with attractive presentation. Definitely fit for a date-night as well. The wakame salad was scrumptious. Plus, they are very moderately priced for the lunch menu. WARNING, it is BYO so make sure you bring your Sake or Kirins with you!

Fantastic sushi spot. A little pricey but overall great quality. The service is nice and so is the atmosphere.

  • Bob G.

Great to see some of the old crew from Tank take over the space. The space, menu, and food have all improved since the Tank days. Plus I was a huge Tank fan! I have seen some bad reviews on service but that has never been my experience.

    (5)
  • Tim S.

Hot damn their timing is off. Nice to see the space so lively and busy, seems the love of Tank, and most importantly the ones that ran it, have carried into this new spot. We started with an alligator and rib eye skewer. Tasty treat while perusing the new menu. I went with some raman and the girl enjoyed some various sushi choices. Presentation is quite nice. Big problem with my raman unfortunately came about 30 min before my dining companion. Sure that will change as the get into the flow. For the moment it is BYOB, yeah.

I saw the beautiful plated meals on social media and knew I had to give this place a try. I stopped by for lunch, and sat outside to enjoy the beautiful day. I ordered the lunch special- salmon teriyaki bento box, with miso soup, California roll, house salad, gyoza, and salmon served over veggies with a side of rice. The salmon took a bit longer than expected to cook, so the main course took a while. That being said, everything tasted excellent, and the presentation was beautiful. Great sushi and great atmosphere!

  • Heidi B.

You may be able to get sushi in the grocery and convenience stores but it doesn't compare to the service and presentation you'll get here. Our sashimi was melt in your mouth fresh and the rolls we are were delicious. It was disappointing to see them not as busy as I would have expected for a Friday night. Get to Miku and keep this great place in the neighborhood!

We had wonderful sushi and so many different variety of food. End of the day we got offered chocolate cake for free We will love to go back for their other tasty dishes... My hubby usually very picky with raw food , since his middle eastern he's not into seafood that much. But he said he loved the food and it was very fresh. He said good choice and good selection.

  • Jim W.

Food was good except the foie gras which was weird. After fast service on wine and appetizers it took over an An hour for the sushi to arrive. They were then out of several items that we ordered over an hour ago. Why didn't they say so when we ordered an hour ago. I do not recommend.

Went to Miku recently on a weeknight. Was not very busy, and the service was good (actually maybe even a little *too* attentive). Food was really good (we're vegetarian so I can't comment on the fish). It would be nice if they added a couple more vegetarian appetizers, but no big deal. I've knocked it down to 3 stars because of ... the flies. We sat near the window and there were about 6 flies buzzing around and one landed on my plate. The curtains near the window were also dirty. Miku needs to clean up their act, and get rid of the insects. So: Ambiance: 4/5 Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Cleanliness: 2/5

I'm taking action against the wrath of two and one star reviews. There is no way this is either a one or two star sushi joint...Jewel maybe...Mariano's sure but not this place. Some of the other diners complained about being disrespected etc. We had great service and great food. I will go back.

Great for dinner and a light mood for the night. I highly recommend the garlic edamame if you like edamame. The waitress did an amazing gob of breaking down the different types of rolls and her recommendations were really good!

  • James J.

Very great experience and amazing food. We started with the pork belly bun, which was incredibly tasty with the bun being of perfect texture. I then proceeded to the Sushi matsu platter. This consisted of a dragon roll and 9 pieces of sashimi with various fish. All pieces of fish were extremely fresh and extremely well presented. I found the comment about the tuna being 'super white' made it feel self conscious around the other pieces, but that's besides the point. Overall a great establishment with very friendly staff at a reasonable price. Strongly recommend trying.

Go for lunch, it usually empty. (Weekends are packed and have a wait) - I've eaten here a few times, and although the sushi and appetizers are good, the Ramen was one of the BEST I've ever had.

Oh my...what can I say about Miku Sushi? I was not impressed at all. I came with my kids and we decided to sit at the counter to watch the chefs make sushi. Bad idea. As I sat at the counter, the chefs placed their finished orders directly in front of me and the waitresses reached over me to grab the orders. It was a horrible dining experience with elbows constantly in my face! Not right at all...they should not sit a customer in that spot. Our order came to us haphazardly...entrees before the appetizers. I love eel nigiri and I watched as they cooked the eel in a toaster oven...what?! My eel was dry and hard. Also, it watched as they rushed each sushi order and there was no care as they slapped everything together. I finally received my sushi AFTER I finished my dinner and the roll was falling apart. You know what? That's ok because I'm not coming by back. I'm so disappointed.

One of the best sushi places I have ever been to and had an amazing experience. Our waitress, heather, was extremely nice and gave us her recommendations. We ordered the flaming dragon roll and ocean sundae. The flaming dragon was delicious and literally flaming. Haha

  • Rob G.

Service wasn't great and a little slow, they didn't seem to understand the menu very well. We had the goat cheese salad, crab soup, and scallop skewers for starters. Salad and skewers were good, soup wasn't very good and cold. We ordered the Latin Heat and flaming dragon rolls I would say average at best, not much flavor at all. Cookie egg roll for dessert was good! Overall probably won't go back unless desperately hungry and walking by!!

Went here the other night looking to scratch the sushi itch and check out the new kid on the block. Bottom line: Tanks a million for not being like Tank! We started with the Pork Belly Chips, which are salty, bacony, tempura nuggets of joy. If you could buy chips like these at the corner store I'd be a few hundred pounds heavier! YUM! Next came our sushi, which were the Yoko maki (so seductive and multi-layered in taste--it could break up any band), the Smokey Bear maki(no fires started, but damn delicious) and the veggie tempura maki (a good ol' standard). I ordered a bowl of the Tonkotsu ramen, which was rich with flavor and very satisfying. I was able to hold off face-planting into it and had enough left over for lunch the next day, where it was was just as tasty and savory. We also ordered a couple of the chef's nigiri, which were the only disappointing low-lights of the evening. There were so many other items on the menu that I wanted to try but alas I'm not a Coney Island hot dog super-eater, so my stomach is not that elastic. I'm ecstatic that this is the "new Tank" because I was not a fan of the old one. Can't wait to go back a few dozen more times and try one of everything. Very nicely decorated, friendly service, weird mid 90's playlist on the radio. I dig it.

To sum it up in one word: WOWZA!!! Although I'm sad that Laughing Bird is no more, I think some sushi from Miku will help ease the pain lol. Between the fried goat cheese salad, dishes with truffle oil soy and oyster shooters, just reading the menu made my mouth water. I will definitely be recommending this place!! And a bonus----they deliver!!

  • Emily B.

Time to pare down the menu and focus on making a few things well (probably just the dishes that people are brain-washed by because they were on the Tank menu) and ramp up the number of servers. Nothing about anything we ordered tasted fresh and every roll had SO many ingredients it tasted like a big ball of mush or in the case of one a big ball of stale crunchy something. They should be ashamed of the mushroom skewer, charging $4 for 1.5 horribly cooked mushrooms. As others have mentioned, the service was brutal.

Great to have quality sushi back in the neighborhood. A diverse and well thought out menu satisfies adults and kids, plus the sushi lover and those who require cooked food. Thoughtfully, they brought back some favorites from tank and created some great new ones. The Momo maki was phenomenal and the fish quality was as good as can be found in Chicago. Menu items such as grilled skewers, dumplings, and terrific ramen soup rounded out a great meal. We will definitely be back!

    (5)
  • Greg E.

Tank is back and better than ever!! Honestly the best ramen I have ever had. Great combo of ingredients, just spicy enough to give a little kick and the broth was amazing. Miku has brought back some of Tanks signature rolls as well as some new combos that are really good (you have to try the flaming dragon!). Definite five stars. So happy we have sushi back in Lincoln Square!!

  • Joy M.

A little hyped for being a brand new restaurant. The menu is overwhelming, 3 sections of rolls, hot/cold appetizer, BBQ skewers, and Ramen . We order 2 appetizers and 1 skewer, 1 specialty roll, Ramen and Uni. App: Chilean Sea Bass- nothing like the description on menu. Instead of panko it was just fried. The sauce that comes with is over powering. Chilean sea bass is such a delicate fish, consider pan searing it and serving with a citrus soy. Foie Gras- save your $, not probably seared. The portion was small to none. Chicken liver skewer- over cooks, almost burnt. Ramen- Broth was okay, ramen it self was nothing special. Miku roll- overpowering, Foie with cream cheese?! No point in paring anything "nice" with cream cheese.

  • Diem N.

The ramen is one of the best I've had here in Chicago. Great food and sushi but for the price I wish they do more with the presentation of the sushi. I've been here five times now and every time either the hostess wasn't very nice or the server isn't very accommodating.

  • Peggy H.

Have now been to Miku twice. The service is slow. The wine list (and the sake) is absolutely terrible (which is why it costs so little). The food itself has made me sick both times. The only decent dish on the menu is the pork belly chips. The sashimi is decent. The sushi is decent. But the overall flavors of the foie gras and pork belly bun were terrible, overdone, oversalted, overseasoned, and filled with oil. I make all of my food with lard and butter and whole milk and cream, so I am not one of those "low fat" people. But things were dripping, literally, with grease, and covered in it. The food, folks, is terrible. I would not trust the freshness of the raw fish. I do not trust a single thing out of that kitchen, and will never, ever, go back again.

While passing by we decided to try Miku on Valentines Day, but without reservations, there was only seating at the sushi bar. While it's a BYOB, they offered free glasses of champagne for Valentine's Day. Bear in mind that my wife doesn't like anything that comes out of the ocean. Never the less, my wife and I both really enjoyed Miku. It's a nice place with attentive staff. We started off with the Gyoza as an appetizer. My wife had the Ribeye Teriyaki and the vegetable tempura maki while I had 2 rolls and some Nigiri. All the items we had were terrific. My wife particularly enjoyed her tempura maki. Looking forward to going back.

Sometimes it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks. Wanted to enjoy a nice Sushi restaurant in Chcago, but finding they all basically stink. This old dog hated what was put in front of him at Miku. Do they ground ship their fish? Buy it in volume at a disount? An experience letdown. Service and atmosphere were fine, the fish was not particularly fresh or well executed. My girlfiiend and I are spoiled with great quality fish on the West Coast, the midwest leaves a lot to be desired. Lesson learned, no more midwest sushi.

we went with a coupon and will not be returning, had chicken teriyaki . the broccoli had brown / black spots, rice was gummy, wife had steak teriyaki that was good, had better california roll at fresh farms on touhy. service was good but restaurant only had a few people in it. we will stick with midori or renga tai

If you loved Tank Sushi well it's back under a different name. The same delicious rolls. Robusta, Ocean Sundae, Latin Heat and Mika. If think your favorite sushi spot is great. I laugh at you. The best sushi in the City is now Miku sushi.

Omg! My new favorite sushi place. Everything we tried was amazing- Xmas maki, flaming maki, pork buns, lunch maki and bento box specials! But try the fried cookie dough roll and you'll be hooked. Service was also spectacular. Note we came on a late Thurs afternoon and the place was empty.

Previous owners of tank = over priced items? Food was meh...i went with some friends on a friday night and didnt know what the hype was about....the ambience is ok i guess

Great presentation on all the dishes. We enjoyed it very much and will be back. It is pretty hectic on weekend nights, but we were seated in about 35 minutes without a reservation (2 people). No standing room to wait, however. The flaming dragon roll, miya roll, cookie dough egg rolls and king crab appetizer are standouts.

  • J G.

For those who miss Tank, go to Miku. It was delicious, familiar and bustling on a Friday night. They have only been open a week or so and they have a few things to work out, BUT the food is fantastic. Sitting at the sushi counter was a wonderful show. Flaming Dragon roll is amazing, familiar rolls like Latin Heat are still yummy. Owners worked at Tank, so the loyal customers may remember Sarah and her husband. I was greeted with a hug!

So this was our second time coming to miku..very very disapoinment on the service and timing on food... seem like our waitress didnt understand english or was not properly train and having a bad day.. she mess up both of my rolls i specificly told her no avacado.. both maki came out with avacado.. i ask for a manager and she ignore me and no manager came by... need to work on customer service.. never coming back..

Delicious, fresh sushi, BYOB, great service, and no wait on a Friday. What more could you ask for? Miku is a great addition to Lincoln Square, and fills a void in an area where there aren't a ton of sushi places that I actually want to dine at. The sushi was actually much better tasting than what I remember from Tank, the previous restaurant in the same location. I'm so glad that this little gem is in my hood!

I was pleasantly surprised at this old home of Tank Sushi! As a former Tank Sushi manager for 9 years, I really wasn't sure what to expect. The partners did an outstanding job of renovating and providing a warm atmosphere for dining. The maki rolls are outstanding and you must try the Kabocha King Crab Soup. I'm so glad I live within delivery range!!!

We're very impressed with the selection of food on the menu (sushi, sashimi, skewers, ramen, etc...) Very rare that you could find everything on the menu like Miku provides. The freshness of the foods is what makes or breaks a Japanese restaurant. The creativity and service is impeccable. The timing of everything is just right. A hidden gem in the neighborhood.

  • Holly L.

Love this place. Soy truffle foie gra is unbelievable well done. Service is good EXCEPT they kept putting the check in front of us while we were ordering more stuff because I think it was the server's last shift. It's 9pm, by the way. So it wasn't like we were closing the place down. Still would come back by the check incident was sort of wtf.

  • Patrick S.

We were so disappointed when Tank closed, especially after the owners went in a new direction stating how you could almost get sushi anywhere. Maybe that's true but you can't get GREAT sushi anywhere. Miku, oh we're so lucky you've joined the neighborhood. Such a warm, cozy location filled with an incredibly friendly staff and some of the best sushi you'll get in the city. We stopped in for an early bite and it was exactly what we needed. Rolls are priced pretty average and we will be back to try their ramen soups.

  • Natalka K.

So this place just opened up about a week ago after it was Tank (so I've heard) and it is delish! The sushi is very good - we had the alaskan crab, flaming tuna and the angry dragon. Presentation was out of this work - the flaming tuna actually was on fire - ok, on the side, but that was the show-stopper! We'll definitely come back.

Sooo happy to have good sushi back in the city. Nothing compares to the freshness, the quality, and the flavor combinations at Miku. They brought back some of the old Tank classics and great new options like " Yuri" AMAZING!! Such great sushi and great new look. The lunch special is one of a kind - lots of food for a great price. The flavor of the miso soup was the best I've had too. Great place, great prices, great location, great food! Please stay forever!!!

  • Harris C.

Absolutely loved this place. I was bummed that I missed out on Tank, as it closed a hot second after I moved to the neighborhood, but I think Miku is going to be a great addition. I had the alligator skewer, which was perfectly cooked, not at all tough as alligator can sometimes be, and the super white tuna nigiri and X'mas Maki. The fish was delectable fresh and I loved the maki, it balanced all its flavors so well that I didn't even bother with soy sauce. My only note would be that the sushi bar seemed a little overwhelmed by the crush of diners, resulting in slower service, but our waitress was so nice that it was no big deal. Since it was only their second night open, I'm sure they'll work out all the kinks given a little time. I will definitely be back to find out, I simply must try some more of their rolls!

  • Nikki G.

Ordered chicken teriyaki to go there was barely any meat and no rice called the restaurant to see what they could do about it. The girl on the phone laughed and say she would do better next time. I loved this place at first but don't like being laughed at especially when it was not my fault.

This review is ONLY for the hostess. We came in one of the opening weekends understanding that they would probably still be in the process of getting into a groove so we understood being sat 30 minutes after our reservation and the fact that food was taking an exceptionally long time. Here was my issue.... As we were waiting for our final roll (over 30 minutes after the rest of our food came out), my husband and I decided to plan our anniversary dinner and both had our phones out to check calendars. The hostess walked up and told us she wished there was a "no cellphone" sign she could put up because it's ridiculous that we're sitting on our phones at dinner. I immediately pointed out that we had been waiting on our final roll for over 30 minutes and were trying to use the time to schedule our anniversary. I can understand concerns with phones and chatting, etc at dinner but neither of us were texting or taking calls. We were simply checking calendars. I was extremely offended that we had been so supportive and understanding with the long wait and she had the audacity to make such a rude comment to two paying customers. She had scolded us so loudly that the tables near us could hear. That being said, the food was great but sadly I am in no rush to go back in anytime soon.

  • L L.

First. We were literally the first table on opening night. I planned it that way. I'm going to give it 5 stars for potential. I'm also comparing it to Tank which was our goto sushi place in Chicago. Near the end Tank lost some quality and quality control, so we weren't too surprised when it closed, yet overall it was still a great place for sushi if you knew what to order. My wife always compares her Sake (salmon) nigiri from Tank to all other Sakes. She thought Miku's Sake was as good as Tank's. We got edamame, gyoza and a some rolls. Unfortunately the gyoza was still basically cold, yet the edamame was great (I've had bad edamame at multiple places). I ordered the Miku roll (I think thats what it was called) because its the signature roll. I think it had foie gras on it which I don't really like, yet it was a pretty good mix of flavor and I ate the whole thing. My goto at Tank was the Ebi Tango. When Tank took it off the menu I used to order off menu. The Miku version was good yet I think the mango may not have been ripe so it lacked some citrus - maybe in the sauce. I'll try it again during the next visit. Next was a dragon roll which was amazing. Not sure which one. The wife got the deep fried spicy tuna which was ok, yet the cooking process obviously changed the texture. We like the cold version much better. Overall a great opening night dinner. One of the waitresses from Tank was working at Miku and she recognized us and came over to talk which was nice. Can't wait to return. Oh and if possible, my wife loved the chocolate egg roll dessert at Tank. I understand Miku isnt tank, yet maybe a warm chocolatey dessert would be a great addition to the menu?

Great sushi. Good service. Nice desserts. I like that they kept the Latin Heat roll, one of my favorites from the previous joint. It's a BYO so you better bring your own Sapporo.

We LOVE Miku Sushi! The resturant is beautifully furnished. The woman that seated us was friendly and attentive. We had the lunch special of 2 Maki rolls and my Mini Ocean Sundae was AMAZING! The salad with goat cheese is fresh and the Tempura cheese is light - NOT greasy. The Latin Heat roll was exceptional . We took selfies of our meal - to lure our friends back to Miku for more sushi!!!!

Miku has blown me away since their opening! The interior "refresh" is nice. And I like the service and staff. Really, really great sushi, maki, and rolls. I must say that I also like the fact they kept some of Tank's menu favorites. But they have made it even better with the new and different items: Duck? Awesome! A "must try". The Escargot? Brilliant! Near the top of the escargot I have tried in the past. Sea Bass? Damn good! XMas Maki? Delicious! Scallops wrapped in bacon? YEP! Just as good as it sounds. Smoked salmon and Escalar? Melt in your mouth good and very fresh. I get the Escalar lightly seared. NICE.... My partner and I's favorite place for fun and food in Chicago. It must be special for me to write a review.. I must get better about that....grin.

I am SO happy to have a delicious sushi joint here, yet slightly scared for how much money I will spend haha! On our first go around we had the Miya Make, Soft Shell Crab, Tuna, Salmon and Asparagus rolls. All amazing. I specifically want to know the soft shell as it is the best in the city I have tried thus far. I lived in the Del-Mar-Va region for 5 years so to get a good soft shell that isn't overly fried is something I crave for. The staff was amazing and quite funny. As they made rolls for other tables, they had no problem entertaining my questions of what they were doing. As others noted, it is BYOB therefore come prepared if you are into some Kirin to wash down the deliciousness!

Really wanted to love this place. Great atmosphere. Weird service. Overpriced, mediocre food. We we served our nigiri before the appetizer and received half our food before my other half even received his drink. Huge pet peeve of mine is when the food comes out before the appetizers...not to mention drinks should come before everything. Alligator app was delicious, but everything else fell short. Maybe...big maybe...would I go back IF it were BYOB, but there is just so much better sushi out there...especially for the $$$. Definitely will not be back. Sorry Miku.

Sushi is very, very good. And very expensive. Sit in front. The rear is dark, stupid loud, and the floors actually bounce as the waiters-in-training stomp by. Note: the alligator skewer appetizer is one teensy tiny, unsharable piece of meat for $2.50.

We have now been here a couple times in just over a week. Apparently, they just received a liquor license, so they are no longer BYOB. Service has been great both times we've been to Miku and the sushi has been outstanding. The fish is very fresh and their rolls are unique and creative. We've been looking for an alternative to Rise and we found it with Miku. Highly recommend.

Everything I had here was delicious!! It's pricey, but that is typical for sushi.

Some of the best ramen in the city. I can only say this for the tonkotsu; I didn't try the miso one. We also had skewers and a few pieces of nigiri. Everything was really good, except for the seaweed salad, which wasn't bad but was more cucumber than seaweed. Also mad props to our server Josh who probably received third degree burns getting our ramen to us. They need to give their servers some trays or something!

SOOOOO HAPPY THIS PLACE OPENED! I have been looking all over the area for clean, fresh sushi but to no avail. I was bummed that Laughing Bird closed before I could give it a try. But if it had to be replaced, I couldn't have thought of a better restaurant. I tried the Ocean Sundae roll, a spicy salmon roll and the spicy roasted garlic miso ramen. They were all satisfying and beautiful. I will definitely be a regular here!

I was impressed by the decor and service and the noise level is ideal - nice music that still allowed for conversation. The food, however, was totally underwhelming. We started with the Gyoza which were OK and the Pork Belly Chips - described on the menu as "crackling salt + lemon pepper pork belly, homemade spicy mayo." The mayo was good but there was nothing crackling or flavorful about the limp, batter-covered pieces of bacon that were brought to the table luke-warm. My Tonkotsu Ramen had a decent enough broth - it had the nice buttery texture but lacked the flavor intensity of other Ramens I've enjoyed. The noodle texture and soft-boiled egg were also good, but there was only 1 slice of pork. Overall, I was just not impressed. My boyfriend had 3 rolls of sushi including the Veggie Tempura and the Ebi Tempura. Again, they were OK, but he too was underwhelmed. The mediocrity of the food would have been more palatable - except that this is not an inexpensive place. With the plethora of other nice dining options in Lincoln Square and nearby, I have to say that I'll likely not return.

This is my new favorite sushi spot. Industrial with exposed beams, yet classy. Have gone a total of three times and have not been disappointed. The service is excellent and the quality of fish is so fresh and tasty. Make sure to try to appetizers, its still BYO until mid March. Flaming Dragon Maki is my favorite.

Miku continues to improve and work out the growing pains. Great sushi specials which change regularly, like Hawaiian ahi tuna - it was amazing. Flaming dragon roll is unique and delicious. This is not just Tank revisited - while they serve some of the Tank favorites, they are trying to do some new and different things. Once they get their liquor license this will be a top Chicago sushi destination. The couple that owns Miku couldn't be nicer and more hospitable. Highly recommended.

I thought the food was really good. We had a simple roll (spicy shrimp) along with some sashimi. The salmon sashimi was amazing, the only fish that wasnt impressive was the tuna which we both found to be a bit fishy tasting. We also ordered the squid skewer and loved the seasoning and sauce that it had on it. I would have given this place 5 stars, however we arrived at 9pm on Saturday night (the place is open till 11). We decided to order another roll around 10pm as we were still hungry. As we were waiting I noticed the chef sitting behind us talking on his phone and drinking a glass of wine, I also saw all of the bar staff having wine as well as some of the other staff. While I dont have a problem with this at all, I almost felt that some of the wait staff rushed us out. People kept coming by and taking things off our table (soy, etc) even though we were still waiting for our last roll. I think we would have stayed for dessert, but I just got a weird vibe and felt like we should leave. I could understand if it was after 11 already and they were closed, but it was still during their open hours. We will definitely be back, but maybe we will go earlier in the night to avoid feeling rushed.

We enjoyed Miku's predecessor, Tank Sushi, and were disappointed to see it close. Loved today's find that Miku is just as good if not better. We wandered in for lunch on a snowy Sunday afternoon. The decor is updated, elegant and comfortable. We both ordered the lunch special of 2 regular makis with miso soup, plus a Signature Maki each to top it off. A small garlic edamame went quite well with the soups. All 4 regular makis were quite enjoyable, but the Signature Makis were the draw, a Christmas Maki and a Flaming Dragon Maki (and yes, it arrives on a real flaming plate). The Flaming was just a bit more tasty. There are probably another 12 Signature Makis we want to return and try. Prompt, friendly service and a fair, reasonable rate for top sushi.

The sashimi was good, quite fresh. The udon was only ok. They use flat noodles which I have never seen used before for this dish. The service was the problem. We arrived early with only a few other customers in the whole restaurant. They were very pushy in getting us out of the door. They practically took our plates away with food still on it! Workers came by at least 3-4 times just to look at how far along we were with our meal. We just wanted to enjoy and finish our meal in peace.

I went to Miku on their first night open. Comfortable, industrial-modern space, friendly staff and most importantly delicious food. The ribeye skewer was tasty and really enjoyed the rolls. Will return!

I'm bummed to write a 3-star review, because we were happy to see the Tank space return to a sushi concept, but we were disappointed with our meal here. A lot of it was service and ambience. The music inside is super loud and clubby, and we had to wait a while to get seated and get our menus even though the place was nowhere near full. The waitress was very nice and apologetic once we got seated, but she ended up forgetting to put in one of our two maki orders so the frustration kind of continued. We enjoyed the bacon wrapped scallop appetizer, but the skewers were cold and terrible meat. We also had the pork belly bun, and it was hard to pick out the pork in it; maybe too much other stuff mixed in. The flaming dragon maki was tasty and we were looking forward to trying the Momomaki, but it never came. We decided to call it a night. Believe it or not, I would try it again to get a better sense of the fish, as I'm hoping it was just a really off night, but don't waste your money on the hot appetizers.
