Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

This is a very small hidden restaurant but a MUST go to. The service is unlike any service that is given now a days. Its a family owned restaurant with one cook and one waitress. She is very attentive, polite and very nice. To top it off, everything is delicious and very cheap! We have ordered them for two Taquizas and we will continue to come back. We recommend to all of our friends and family and they are never disappointed.

I just got back from eating at Memo's. It's a place you could easily pass up if you don't know what to look for. We did a tasting for a party my friends are having and our table ate quite a few tacos. I had the pollo al pastor tacos which were probably the best chicken tacos I've ever had in my life! I had three on my plate and could have easily eaten an entire extra plate of them. My friends had a steak one with chorizo which they absolutely loved too. The owner was super nice. To top it off, his catering prices are super cheap! As for a meal, where else can you get excellent tacos for $1 each? I will definitely be going back there.

Shrimp tacos were fresh and well seasoned. I'm definitely a fan now. I've lived over here 3 1/2 years and saw the reviews and decided to do carry out. Staff was REALLY nice, energetic and made me want to come back for more. Wish I had gotten more and wish the tacos were a bit bigger. My ONLY complaint. I most certainly will be going back soon. I'm hooked.

When I walked into this fairly new restaurant there was a group of people huddled around the bar area and everyone looked surprised I was there, including the waitress who didn't know what to do. Finally the chef came out and told me to sit wherever I wanted. I suppose they must have thought I was an inspector or something. The waitress, who was a pretty Mexican girl, was fairly attentive but never smiled and spent most of my meal looking at her shoes in what appeared to be agony at being there. I ordered the queso fundido w/ chorizo and the enchiladas suizas rojas. The food was really outstanding. The queso fundido came swimming in its own fat and the flour tortillas that came with them were obviously toasted on a greasy griddle. At first I balked, but then I remembered my culinary training and the adage "Fat equals flavor", and oh was this dish delicious. I think the calories could have kept a basketball team fed for a week but it was yummy. The enchilladas were also delicious mainly due to the wonderfully intricate rojas sauce that it was served with. The chef said he toasts the five different chiles that are used in the sauce giving it extra flavor. The chicken itself should have been shredded to make it a little more tender and easier to eat but the dish was good. I have high hopes that this restaurant will get over its birth pains and find a way to get the waitress to develop a more friendly demeanor. The food here is worth a try.

Ever since eating a great tortas back in Phoenix, I have been on a quest to find a similar one in Chicago. Thanks to a certificate I had, I decided to give this place a try. The place is not fancy. I would not make it a special occasion place. However, if you just want a delicious meal, this is the place to go. I can't talk about all of the food that they serve, but the Jessie's Special Foot Long Tortas was simply amazing. Out of this world. There are actually 4 or 5 other tortas on the menu, as well as full platters of other dishes. Our waitress was very nice in helping us choose what we wanted, as the menus are only in Spanish. It seemed like a very authentic place. I highly recommend it. 5 stars for the tortas. I can't wait to go back.

Today was my first time coming to Memo's Tacos. My fiancé, brothers, and brother in law have been raving about this place for the longest time and I finally decided to give it a try. Don Guillermo is the owner and knows almost all my family. He gets his business from word of mouth and it travels fast. Today, I had a super torta, which consists of mayo, grilled chicken, ham, cheese, and bacon topped with lettuce, avocado, tomatoes and onion on French bread and it's HUGE. The portion was enormous for the price and it included fries. Like most Mexican restaurants, we were served fresh crunchy tortilla chips with two homemade salsas. We were also given a small portion of beans with nopales (cactus) and fresh cheese and it all tasted amazing. Don Guillermo asked for suggestions and constructive criticism, as his restaurant is very new and he's looking to gain popularity. I wish him the best and I hope his restaurant gains great success. He cooks the food himself and with great pride. You don't get that at most restaurants where stuff is pre-made the night before. This food is made fresh off the grill and the atmosphere is one of a family restaurant. I look forward to trying more of his menu items soon.

Stopped in a couple of weeks ago to try these $1 tacos. They were delicious but small, which you can kind of expect at that price. The salsa and hochata was good. The waitress was nice. The place is a simple restaurant and they have a great menu. When I'm in the area, I'll return. I'm interested in trying the burrito.

So nasty!!!! Coming from Los Angeles where we actually do have genuine food, this place is a waste of money! The meat in the "tampiquena" was raw! & the "caldo de pollo" was literally only chicken no vegetables no flavor just boiled chicken! Yuck! The burritos have no rice or beans inside so be advised to ask for some! Their salsa is way too spicy, bottom line dont waste your time coming here!

Simply amazing! Their tacos are a must have and smaller than other places so you can try a variety without feeling guilty. Just by tasting them, you will be able to tell that the owner, Guillermo, really takes pride in his food. I was so impressed that I also hired a taquero guy from them for a fundraising event I was having. Everyone had nothing but great things to say about them. You can easily pass up the place if you're not looking for it so keep your eyes peeled. Go in and check them out today, you'll thank me later!

We stumbled upon this place as we got tired of waiting for the freight train on Narragansett and boy I am glad the train stopped us. Memo's Tacos has great authentic Mexican food and it's BYOB! They have lots of traditional dishes and some unique taco combinations that are definitely worth trying. The salsa changes every time we go there, and we have never been disappointed by any of the salsas, they are all delicious! You can tell that the cook loves his restaurant by the way he cooks his food, with passion and innovation. The waitress there already knows my usual order and always greets us with a smile as we walk in. I highly recommend Memo's Tacos to anyone looking for a quick bite or a casual night out.
