OMV? OMG!! The Italian beef is the best anywhere. I've had a lot of Italian beef in my time, even the occasional sandwich from the purported #1; none comes close to this. Perfectly seasoned on the perfect roll - not soggy, not bone dry, just... perfect. And their prices are lower than similar offerings in the French Market. I'm not downtown very often, but when I hit the French Market with friends, this is the place I'll go first.

This place is AMAZING! The meatball panini is hands down the best meatball sandwich I've ever had! The quality of the meat is really good, combined with tasty sauce and cheese, but what makes the sandwich is the toasted bread from the panini press. A perfect meatball sub without the soggy bread that usually comes along with it! The only downside is that the French Market is closed on Sundays - so make sure to check out it on during the week or on Saturday!

I very much enjoyed my meatball sandwich. (selctions were meat with the basic red sauce. Yum--- Yum in my tum. Not dry, soft bread. I got provolone shreds on mine. I will be back!

Great place to get a good eat. I have eaten here (6) times since I first visited and plan to go many more. Fantastically run family operation which you do not see much of these days.

I'm not usually a meatball fan, but the pork meatball panini here was phenomenal. I love the customizable options. I went for the spicy red sauce, asiago cheese, and sautéed onions. It was absolutely delicious and pretty fast to make.

One of the best meatball subs I've had in a long time along with customizable options. I did the classic meatball with spicy red sauce, shredded provolone and giardinera. A very filling sub! You can also do a panini, salad or pasta if you're not feeling a sub. It's a great find for anyone looking to satisfy that meatball craving.

Very tasty pasta with red sauce and 3 large meatballs. One of the better values at the Metra French Market.

I'm eating the beef meatballs as I type this! They are AMAZING and AUTHENTIC! I just popped in for lunch this afternoon at the French Market for the first time and met one of the brothers who is uber friendly and welcoming. From one Italian to the next, The Meatball Vault is one of a kind! The meatballs are authentic and seasoned perfectly. The pomodoro sauce is like liquid gold! I'm worried that I might form a love affair with this place because I work close by. Nice job, guys!

Wandering around area trying to find food during a Saturday study break (most places in area closed on wknds). Discovered this gem inside French Market. Got one of each type of meatball on a bed of lettuce: beef, chicken, pork sausage - all excellent!! Great service, high-quality homemade meatballs - I will absolutely be back. Bonus: Got to eat my meatballs to live jazz guitarist inside French Market!

I'm not typically a meatball fan, but because of the way the food smelled coming from a coworkers desk, I had to try it. I only get the beef meatballs in a cup with spicy red sauce and spinach. I could eat this dish everyday for lunch. So delicious!

A very welcome addition to the French Market. I've tried the Italian Sausage, Classic Beef, and Chicken meatballs and they are all absolutely delicious. Flavorful, tender, juicy meat heaven. There are even veggie meatballs, which I'm sure are also great - I just haven't yet been strong enough to choose them over the meaty meatballs, though I love the option. You can put your balls in a cup (haha), on a sandwich (regular or toasted as a panini; I recommend the panini), on a salad, or over pasta. There are a variety of great sauces and you can tell that they actually spent time on them. After you've chosen your sauce you pick your toppings - various cheeses, giardiniera, peas and onions, spinach, roasted red peppers, etc. - and then you're set to go. I love that there are so many possible combinations that you could eat here everyday for, like, a year and get something different each time. To top it all off, the guys that run this place are very nice and it feels like they appreciate their new customers. Last time my husband and I were in they told us that their customer return rate is really high and I completely believe it for all the reasons mentioned above. There will also be italian ice during summer, so I'm pretty much in love.

A great meatball is a wonderful thing. These young owners are the sons of the folks who brought the world a restaurant called Olevetti's in des plaines, a fine place. The setup here is strait forward; beef, pork and chicken meatballs in a roll, panini or bowl. The food is great and I rarely am impressed by even good restaurant's meatballs. If you like food simple and just excellent, this is your place enjoy.
