Pass on the pizza, its a dollar more then it should be and I've tasted way better. The hot dogs are pretty good and the fries taste burger king-ish. But the drive thru makes it convenient for a quick bite.

Luke's is great! Anytime I get the chance I stop in. Great beef and good burgers. Its good quality food, at a nice price. The staff is always great, they make me feel welcome. I recommend Luke's to everyone, they also deliver late night, which is always a plus!

Their burgers, italian beef, and hot dogs are to die for! Pretty expensive for a small fast-food joint.

Haven't been here in a few years but I used to love it when I lived in E.P. The chicken sandwiches and pizza are actually pretty good. The fries are just ok but when they add the cheese to them they are really good. I also remember loving their Italian Ice. I need to go back asap. Hopefully it's still good.

Luke's is a good place to have on the NW side since late night options are few and far between. The main thing I like here is their sausage pizza. I'm not really a sausage pizza guy but I wouldn't be surprised if it's homemade as its tasty and really good. I recommend extra sauce on the pizza to ensure it isn't too dry for your taste. And the appetizers from the Wing Zings to the Pizza Munchies and also the Mozzerella Sticks are pretty tasty. The staff is also very upbeat, friendly, and courteous which seems to be hard to find nowadays. For convenient and fulfilling late night eats, Luke's does fit the bill.

Lukes is a great place for a quick, delicious meal any time. The drive thru is convenient and the managers are friendly and accomodating. The beef is awesome and the menu has so many things to choose from. I definitely recommend this place to any hungry person.

  • Nicole S.

Lukes is alright and close enough for me to walk to. I don't care for the pizza. The cheese tastes like the really salty processed stuff and quite greasy. I enjoy the italian ice and the hot dogs and beefs are good. I would like the burgers a lot more if they weren't so incredibly thin. The last t time I ordered one, I felt like I was biting into a bun and condiments. That was dissappointing.

  • Handyman Rich E.

We stopped @ Lukes drawn by the craving for Italian Ice. It's a respectable second to our Chicago favoriate, and an hour closer. We also tried some of their breaded steak sandwiches which were tender, and very tasty. We'll be back @ Luke's again.

  • Kasia R.

I only get the lemon frozen Italian ice from here which is really good. I think my husband ordered some type of food from here back when we were dating, but not memorable enough to come back for it. The parking is horrible here... only about 2 or 3 spaces and sometimes taken up by the delivery guys.

  • Hugh B.

Went for lunch. The place was spotless clean. I had a combo -- beef and sausage, with sweet peppers -- and it was delicious. BF had meatball sandwich and thought it was OK only. Fries were crispy and fresh. Service was friendly. Nothing not to like.

WOW, They finally got a DRIVE-THRU folks.....

  • Mark S.

This has become my new local beef place. It's a little farther drive than another decent option, but I like the beef here better than anything else around. My beef's never been overcooked, even during off hours, and the juice is very flavorful- highly seasoned. So it's not very beefy, but tasty anyway. If you order your beef wet, juicy or dipped, they don't mess around- it'll be soaked like it should! The sandwich is on the big side too- a good deal.

  • Mike O.

I've been here only once and I'm done. I ordered a Maxwell-style Polish and the guy had no idea what that was. In case you're not from around here, it means a Polish with grilled onions and mustard on it. Well, I was informed, "We do not grill onions here" as if they are boycotting the food preparation activity of that kind. Well, I had a Polish with raw onions and mustard and never came back. Fries were OK, but the no grilled onions law left a lasting impression on me.

    (2)
  • Carol M.

I still love the taste of everything at Luke's, but the service has gone down in the food preparation area. In the last 5-6 months sweet peppers were left off probably every other order even though it was plainly on the receipt. I don't know if this is because the food preparers have not mastered English yet or what.... I love the sausage here...grilled to perfection, so it is not the food itself, but the order filling. The counter girls need to check the orders better maybe!

    beef needs more beef, wtf!

I have never understood the fascination with this place. Perhaps many relive the memories of the "Harlem" of years past, when getting to Irving Park from Diversey took about an hour and a half. Ah yes, the good ol' days, when there were Mustangs and IROC's as far as the eye could see. Guys walking the strip in their Z.Cavaricci's, girls with teased hair that reached the Heavens, loud music pouring from the radio with the BMX or B96 sticker plastered on cars that were less than a 5.0. But I digress. Luke's just is not and never was all that great. I feel they are way overpriced, I feel the quality of their food is meh and the staff is not very nice. I cannot see myself going there again because of the choices in the neighborhood but if my buddies want to go back in time for a bit and remember what it was like to hang out in the White Castle parking lot, then so be it. I'll take a bite of stale pizza for the gang.

  • Adam M.

One of the best damned hot dog joints in Chicagoland. Hotdogs, garlic bread, and pizza are definately my top choices at Lukes. It's like heaven in your mouth. It's like drinking without a hangover!

  • Dave J.

I haven't lived in the city for many years, but I get back sporadically, and last saturday I was driving around in the slush looking for a hot dog and fries (I used to go to Wally's on Central and Diversey till they knocked it down a few years back), and I see Lukes! Not only Lukes but the Original Lukes. The dog was excellent, just what i was looking for, nice sport peppers, pickle slice, glow-in-the-dark relish, and a very good dog. Fries wrapped up with the hot dog, just the way it should be. the dressing on the dog was just what it should be - onions, relish, mustard, slice of tomato (anemic tomato, but its February after all), sport peppers, and the generous pickle slice. I used to work at the Lukes at Harlem and Addison when I was a kid, and I just wonder if this is owned by the same people. Not sure if Luke and Fritzie are still around (bless their souls for running what was the best beef stand in the city), but maybe their daughters own this place. I didn't see pepper and egg on the menu, nor the bowls of giardinara set out on the counter like we used to do it, but things do change after all. Next time I go back for the beef!

    (5)
  • B. L.

Stop in for a beef or one of their famous Italian ices. That's what we did on a very hot day recently. Their Italian ice is great and really cools you down.

    (3)
  • Greg A.

The beef sandwiches are second to none. Dripping in au jus sauce, you can't go wrong with the homemade italian beef sandwich. I'd recommend the combo #5: beef sandwich, fries and a drink for about $8. Make this one of your fatty food stops in Chicago.

  • Daria Z.

This is a fun greasy joint to drop in by. They have great mozarella sticks and they deliver a good distance. We used to always order in from here at work.

    (3)
  • Myron M.

Super fast food joint on Harlem and Belmont. The have a huge selection on their menu and very reasonable prices. Grab yourself a Polish and a cheese fries and you are set for the night.

I love Luke's! I moved into the neighborhood back in October and we stumbled upon this place during a late night desire for a good cheeseburger and cheese fries. We haven't stopped ordering take out or stopping in since. As I said, ordering the cheeseburger is a staple for us. The cheese fries are great, and even if they get cold at the house, the cheese still makes them delectable. They recently added the drive up window which I find to be convenient when I'm still in my PJs and don't want to make it completely obvious that today is a no cooking, no showering, a "do nothing" day. Luke's is always there to save the day. I also love that it's late night. My boyfriend gets off work late (bar industry) so it's nice to have some options other than the 24 hour McDonalds down the street that is by the way horrible compared to Luke's. The service is always nice, and whenever we order for delivery they are right on it and here within 20 minutes if not sooner. Sometimes I'm really amazed. I feel like I spoke to a genie, and poof! The buzzer rings. I also met Steve the other night. I believe he was the owner. He seemed like such a great guy. We had some laughs in the drive thru window and off I went. The food is always quick and I have never complained, but I order what I know. The pizza puffs are ok and if you want Chicago pizza, you'll probably go else where, but it's that neighborhood burger joint that you can always depend on.

    (5)
  • Conor M.

Went to Luke's to try the beefs after reading the Yelp reviews. The beefs are OK. The fries I didn't care for as they are skinny and thus don't hold heat well (i.e. they get cold fast and cold fries suck). We also tried their "garlic cruncher" side/appetizer. Garlic cruncher? Sounds interesting. The reality is that it's just mediocre garlic bread. Skip it unless you have a real craving for toasted bread with garlic butter. The service was good and the folks were friendly. However, that's not enough to get me back in there.

  • Kevin M.

Open til 1am on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, Luke's wins my informal Quest for Food on Christmas Night challenge! Great staff, always friendly, and open really late. Had a double cheeseburger this time, yummy. Often get a beef or hot dogs. Definitely my late-night go-to place. Even on holidays!

    (4)
  • Joey P.

Love this place!!! Another staple on Harlem Ave!! Go in and try the steak sandwich with cheese fries!! Really good cheese burgers too!!!

    (5)
  • Emanuel S.

This place is a great greasy spoon, and it's open late. The best thing on the menu is the italian beef. It doesn't compare to Mr. Beef's Italian Beef, but it's still up there. They've finally added a big parking lot a couple years ago, as they took it from the jewerly store that was right by it. I love going here late at night as that's when the vibe is usually the liveliest. The pizza is good too, but you have to go for the italian beef.

    (4)
  • Tyler D.

A staple for me. Open late, delivers late... decent DD pizza, do-able beefs, good burgers. Thanks Luke's!

    (5)
  • Anjee J.

Their food = good. Seeing girls you went to highschool with still working at a fast food joint = EPIC. 5 stars for that alone! ... But yeah, their food actually is pretty good. I've never had something I didn't like. LOLBITCHESYOURLIFESUCKSHAHA *ahem* I'm done.

    (5)
  • Fritzie H.

Oh, Luke's...you're alright. You might not have the best tasting hot dog in the city but you deliver to my house so I can't hate you, only love you for being so convenient. The pizza here isn't great...actually it isn't good either so just avoid it altogether but I'll be damned if their meal deals aren't a broke ass' best friend. I wish they'd change their fries though, if they'd go with the crinkle cut I'd be there everyday.

    (3)
  • Jennifer G.

I've been to Luke's several times now picking up food for myself and co-workers. Their burgers and cheese fries are good. I haven't really tried anything else on the menu, but based on reviews, I should. The reason why I gave them 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is because of service issues. The first time I went there, the woman at the counter was friendly and welcoming...that's why I went back. The second time I went back, the guy at the counter treated me like I was sh*t. I felt so uncomfortable and couldn't wait for my order to be completed so I could get out of there as soon as I could. Based on this, you're probably wondering why I would ever go back... Since that horrible service incident a few months back, I have limited my visits to the drive thru. No issues with drive thru service and I still like their cheese fries. I definitely won't be going back in though...not unless I feel like having my self-esteem trampled.

For a late night cheeseburger, fries, shake, or mozzarella sticks this is the place to be. Stop in to lukes any time!

Unfresh food that doesn't taste good. Pizza tastes awful and will not order from again. Sorry.

  • Tzviatko C.

Great pizza and super friendly staff. I wish I lived closer, I'd eat there at least once a week. Try Luke's for delicious food, and quick and friendly service.

    (5)
  • M W.

Their pizza was nasty-it tasted like it had been sitting out for days. The fries were fries, but then again fries are pretty hard to mess up. Probably wont return.

  • Scorpion K.

So we went to Lukes tonight thinking we can get some good food late. We get there and order at the Window. First, the girl was RUDE and made us feel rushed, that pissed me off, we ordered pizza puff, cheese fries w extra cheese and beef sandwich, fries and a drink. Get to the Window to get our food $20! CHEESE FRIES!! WHAT CHEESE??? THEN WE START EATING THE FRIES AND THEY TASTE LIKE STONES, TASTELESS, NO SALT. SO DRY YOU CAN POKE SOMEONE WITH IT AND PROBABLY DRAW BLOOD. I think they need to drop prices and get some people with customer service that actually like working with people. Probably will not go there unless desperate! NO STARS FROM US LUKES! (We had to give a least one star to post this...but really they don't deserve one...

    (1)
  • Rita M.

I effing LOVE this place. The BEST pizza period. I love their sauce. Slightly sweet. I moved to this area in 2003 & have tried other pizza places, but will never go back to any one else except Luke's. I always get their cheese thin crust with extra sauce. Man oh man. Give this place one try & you'll never go elsewhere

    (5)
  • Clint B.

Its pretty good. I didn't like their fries, but the beef was good. don't get the pizza slices if you actually like great pizza. Not really a place I'd go to again unless it was after hours, which is why they got 3 Stars from me. 2 Star Food with 1 Star for very late hours and delivery.

  • Jay G.

Congrats!!! I had eaten here a lot when I was a teenager. It was just always good food late at night after a party. You would always see someone in there that you knew . Then the neighborhood seemed to change. Everyone grew up and moved away. I stopped in about two years ago and even though the food was great, the staff was sketchy. The girls looked like they partied a little too much and this guy (who apparently was an owner but isn't anymore) was rude. Didn't go back...until now that is! I agreed to meet a friend there the other day and it was awesome. We got treated like it was a sit down restaurant. It was all new friendly faces including (maybe a manager or new owner?) this really charming and charismatic guy who looked like he could also be the places bouncer. He was SUPER nice and came out and gave us free Italian ice. Beef with cheddar was to die for. My friend had a meatball sandwich which I tried and it was awesome. So congratulations on the new staff (thank you's all the way out the door) and congratulations for keeping the food awesome like always!

  • Mark V.

I just had the blandest grilled chicken salad ever. Just a big bowl of iceberg lettuce and a couple veggies to make it look yummy....fail. Whats worse is that I called ahead so I wouldnt have to wait. I get there and the girl that took my order over the phone apparently thought I ordered a Chicken sandwich instead of Chicken salad...understandable but now I have to wait. Thing is that I didnt even get offered a free drink or something for being inconvenienced by their silly mistake. C'mon people where is the customer service??? I would've given one star but I like you guys otherwise....for now!!!!

  • Jason G.

Place is amazing. We love the lukes classic party size pizzas for get together s. always impressive! Delivery is always quick and painless. As a native Chicagoan I can say with confidence that this place is in my top 3 pizza places in the city. When family from New York come to town this place is what they remember, not that ny pie garbage. Heard stories that this place used to be called Aldo's. it'd be cool if they made a custom pizza or sandwich called the Aldo. How much more do I need to write until I can click the next butt

living in elmwood park as a kid and going to grade school down the street from here I got my fair share of lukes summer months riding bikes we would always come here for their strawberry shakes and pizza puffs....plus to scream out false orders in the parking lot while people were waiting at the drive thru order box of white castle which is just next door screwing up their order (id apologize to the people whos white castle orders we screwed up but we were kids and it was pretty damn funny). To this day when Im craving a strawberry shake I come by to relive my youth. The food is good and the sausage slices are great. Dont change lukes

Well as I promised the owner of Luke's , restaurant me and my family try them out again so tonight this time we order delivery and what can I say my husband and I were not happy to say the least . first as we place our order they hung up on us in the beginning we,should have saw that as a sign . So we call back to place our order he repeated it back to us my husband he said the order is correct ,the gentlemen hung up with out giving us our total ,my husband call back right away and ask for our total he said it 13.85 okay 30-45 min then hung up .my husband waits for the delivery guy ,the delivery guy get to our home with in 40 min with our food and wait for it a different total 16.95 the deliver guys said to my husband all ,I do is deliver but your right their is a different total under the marker sir we pay him . my husband tells me what happened , I ask him to call and ask what went wrong the young lady states that the manger was the one who took our order and it was wrong that was the price that he must have left something out even doe he repeated the order twice , first off I ask no ice in my drink there was more ice then pop in both our drinks ,the food was warm , the pizza slices were tasteless , and the pizza puff was so greasy we just threw it out , I was really hoping it was going to be better but , I'm really disappointed , the service end and quality control , we definitely will not be returning to Luke's restaurant I wish the owner luck .

It's hard to find a decent hot-dog/gyro type of joint that delivers and delivers late. Late Monday night, I found myself craving some cheese fries and a pizza puff. I was in no condition to drive anywhere, but then I remembered Luke's. It's been a few years since I've eaten there, but I called and placed the order. 20 minutes later the food was at my door. Unfortunately the food wasn't as good as I remembered it. The cheese on the cheese fries tasted weird, and the pizza puff was just okay. I'm giving the third star for delivery that late at night.

  • Fernando P.

I been going here for years, until today. I always have it delivered to my house when all the sudden the girl on the phone told me "Oh your out of our delivery range!" When I told her that they been delivering to my address for years, she stuttered and just apologized. Bad bad experience, didn't even try to find out why they were denying me the delivery this time when they have delivered for years. If a manager replies here or attempts to do right I will change my review.

    (1)
  • Stephen P.

I used to go here and order the Italian Beef because they are open late and the Beef was decent. The last time I ordered to-go from them late one night, they pulled a "Leo Getz" on me and F*cked me at the Drive-thru. They knew I was gonna be miles away before I noticed... The bread they gave me for my Italian Beef was HARD as a Rock. I called them right away from home and they didn't seem to care. I will never go back... Mr Beef and Jays Beef will not get ALL of my business!

    (1)
  • Luis D.

I been going to this place for 15 years. The food is good and if you don't know it delivers really really late. The owner is cool and people are friendly. Their pizza munchies are great

    (4)
  • Margarita C.

This is the third time I order from Luke's. I love there hot dogs!!! And surprisingly the onion rings were crispy and hot when delivered to my home. I also love there cheese fries. I usually get a side of jalapeño for that extra zing. Def ordering again soon.

    (4)
  • Tobin h.

Yes, met expectations. The beef was outstanding. They had a great mix of Giardineri and the atmosphere was friendly. I would go back there in a heartbeat but it would be nice if they actually had napkins and ketchup on the table. It is a very cheap and negative feel that the owners feel the need to be so frugal to not allow customers to have easy access to simple things such as napkins and ketchup!

    (3)
  • Alicia C.

Perfect for a pregnant gal with late night cravings. They're open till 1am. The Italian ice is very good. Wish they had more than just two flavors. I had the watermelon and it satisfied the craving! Yum.

  • Amy B.

I've lived in the area for most of my life and this is always my to go place when I'm hungry. They're pretty much always open and they deliver! I've never had bad service from this place. They deliver fast and they're not expensive. If you're looking for good, fast, cheap food...look for further, Luke's is the way to go!

    (5)
  • Ryan C.

Beef and hot dogs are very very good. Basically the entire menu is great except for the pizza. Wish.. wish.. wish.. they would change their recipe. The staff is always friendly. The owner is really on top of the business. Always clean and fast!

    (5)
  • Diane F.

This is my favorite place to get pizza. Now, keep in mind, their pizza is an acquired taste. After I had it the 4th or 5th time I was hooked! It's the best, especially for fast food. I will never get sick of it. My only complaint is I've noticed they got a little skimpy with the pizza sauce (I think to cut down on costs). Next time I go, I'll probably ask them to make me a fresh batch with extra sauce. Delicious!

    (5)
  • Carla B.

Been here twice the past two weeks. I'm sorry but their pizza is awful. The sauce is horrific tasting and they are pricey for crappy food. The fries are a replica of McDonald's fries except McDonald's fries are tasty and salted. This place doesn't salt their fries which sucks. I ordered two slices of cheese pizza, a cheese fry, a fried mushroom and a beef sandwich..total came to about $20. Geez...I'm sorry I wasted my money. I gave a star because the staff is pretty friendly from my experience.

    (2)
  • Gayle S.

I've been coming to Luke's for a little bit now and every experience I've had has been positive. I've come in there often to the point where they now recognize me and my usual order. Everyone is so nice and friendly and really accommodating. I love their Italian Beef sandwiches. They're really good and not salty at all. Luke's doesn't just have good customer service, they have great late night hours and since I'm a night owl most of the time and I live near by that is most excellent. Will most def be coming in the next week as usual. haha

  • Desiree G.

This is the first time my fiancé and I tried Luke's. We made a $30 purchase for what we thought was gonna be great food, and we're very dissatisfied with the price and the meal overall. We bought an Italian beef #5 on the menu, now i thought all Italian beefs came with peppers. Apparently not, because we were charged 90 cents each for sweet and hot peppers! Nothing was seasoned, our fries were limp and soggy! The Italian beefs were dry ! Our Hawaiian punch tasted too much like syrup. The side of cheese we ordered tasted like generic pasteurized cheese that wasn't even fully melted! I also ordered the tamale , and my goodness! If you can't cook, stay out of the damn kitchen! I am super angry that I decided to try this place and wished I stuck with White Castle next door.... I would NEVER recommend this place!! Don't waste your money on food that my dog wouldn't even eat!!

I love this place when I move I think this the place I'm going to miss most the staff is always coherent and amiable I definitely recommend to those who have not tried this to hurry and come to this place also delivery is always fast

  • Alexis R.

This place is fantastic there beefs are the biggest in the area and they have watermelon ice that is perfect, not overly sweet great for a hot day. Last thing, they are open late and deliver late can't ask for anything more.

Ordered a thin crust sausage & cheese pizza well done. Delivered quickly & fresh. Pizza was delicious! Definitely would recommend to friends!

Ok so super fast service...or hot delivery! Ordered my Beef /Sassage Combo always alla marinara, mozzarella and the heat (Gardiner) best in town! They have late hours ample menu and fresh food and did I mention a drive thru! Awesomeness

  • jean h.

Meh - I used to go here as a teenager so when we drove by it I had to stop in. You get a huge sack of fries but sadly they were limp undercooked things. I had the meatball sandwich. Not a happy camper. The sauce seemed like it was spooned out of a jar at room temperature and the meatballs were lukewarm at best. Funny smell and taste to the whole sandwich. Should have left that memory in the past.

After reading these reviews i had to write my own ;) been going to Lukes since i was a kid . There beef is amazing ;) its a beef stand ..... i see the reviews that are bad are only about the pizza .... who goes to a beef stand and orders pizza? ??? Lol so if you all eat the beef you will give it a 5 star review because they have the best ;) duhhh lol

  • Edith s.

Beef was good , dipped. Giardinera could be better, I like mine crunchy. Hot dog was just blah. And the Italian ice lemon is soooooo good!! Really good!

    (3)
  • Mark B.

Not sure what all the hype is about. I've been here a few times now and every time I go back, I remember why there's been so much time between visits. This will be my last time here. To me the beef has no flavor and the fries are awful. I've had worse, but Luke's probably wouldn't make my top 10 beefs in Chicago.

    (2)
  • Sara D.

A+ service and delicious and chewy hotdogs just the way I like them ! Slathered in bbq sauce and relish and even ordered hot water, no screw ups on my order total competency :)

  • Deejay W.

I don't know what's more awesome (while being drunk off your ass) the friendly service they give you or the awesome food they serve you. I came in on a Wednesday at 1230am and they treated me as if I was their first costumer. I had an old ass pizza from their rotating display case but it was still flavorful. Cheese fries was on point as well as their pizza puff. I definitely went down on some random food and they didn't judge. Cheers to them and the young feller that helped me.

    (5)
  • Sarah S.

Pizza They make em big and reasonably priced ordered since they were rated well and close to my location at the time. I was very happy with my meat selection and pizza was delivered on time and hot what more could you ask for?

    (3)
  • Verena P.

Definitely not the best pizza you'll ever try, that's for sure but they're open super late so if you have a craving, Luke's is there.
