OH YEAH!!!! There are no words for how big of a fan I am of this place. So we used to live in the now-hipster part of Rogers Park. Which made the original Lickity Split accessible, but not too accessible, if you know what I mean. ( We like to walk. A LOT.) But yeah, being just West of Clark and only a few blocks South of Howard makes the original location a super-serious hike. I was sad. But my waistline was resigned. Imagine my delight one cold, snowy night, when we were driving home in the car-share car; when I spied the signs of a NEW Lickity Split! Right on the corner of Western and Lunt! Mere blocks from home! I think my exact words were, " WHUUUUTTTTT?!?!?!?" in a sort-f ScoobyDo kind of voice. So yeah. Happiness abounds. We have been there twice now and I still love it. I always get a small OMG, chocolate. Once in a while, I get a Mocha Madness. Both are sooo gooood! I did once get the Crazy Cake, I mean come on, it's a concrete with an entire cupcake smooshed into it. Oddly, I was not a fan. And this is probably just me, but the cupcake had buttercream frosting. Real buttercream. Which I have made and frosted cakes with. When butter gets really cold, it gets really hard. And that's kinda what the buttercream frosting from the cupcake does. It tastes fine, it's a texture thing for me. But that's okay, I can just get one of my other favorites. I have no reason to buy ice cream at the grocery store anymore. I would just rather come here. And I am looking forward to going for a concrete and then trotting over to Indian Boundary with it. 20 years ago, I used to go to the Baskin-Robbins that used to be in this space. Lickity Split is soo much better!

This place looks like a dream. If heaven existed this would be what mine would look like.... but not what the sweets would taste like. I've gone about 3 times and every time I've hoped it would get better and every time I've been wrong. The last time I stopped by this place I was having a rough day and needed a sugary cheer-me-up. I took a bite of the cupcake, spit it out, and became even more depressed. I've only ordered the cupcakes so I can't speak to anything else. The frosting is horrendous. It tastes nothing like buttercream and seriously reminds me of what styrofoam would taste like if you could eat it in cream form. The actual cake is not any better and was rather flavorless.

Custard! Candy! Cookies! Toppings! This place is a fun little spot with friendly people and custard that will satisfy anyone's craving for a creamy, sweet, and cold treat. They have the staples of chocolate and vanilla custard, and a rotating flavor of the week that sometimes sticks around a couple weeks. With a variety of toppings, you can customize your concrete mixer (blended custard and toppings). They also have several concrete mixers already prepared for you. They also have floats with all kinds of sodas. With all the choices, one thing that stays the same is the friendly and fast staff. We went when the line was nearly out the door, and after we waited 5 minutes and put in our order, we had our custard in less than 5 minutes. Faster than most Starbucks! I am so glad this location opened up in our neighborhood. It's a welcoming neighborhood spot.

Unbelievable customer service and absolutely some of the best frozen custard in town. The concretes are delicious. They serve Metropolis coffee which is a nice change of pace in a market flooded with Starbucks. Great addition to the West Ridge neighborhood. Definitely will be coming here more often.

My new favorite ice cream spot. Live down the street which is a plus, good for a little date and to share with someone, I had ordered a JR cup and still couldn't finish it because it was so thick and creamy but was so delicious

Ugh, the aesthetics in this place kills me! Can I just live in here? Love the decorations. Everything I've tried here has been delicious. There are tons of goodies to choose from, and prices aren't bad for the quality you get. Can't wait to come back.

My favorite is the my way concrete with strawberries and Nutella. I would come here every day if I could! They have an awesome old school, retro section of sodas and vanishes. Worth the visit!

Nice place with a really good selection of desserts and candy. Really cool seeing some old school candy like the candy cigarettes. Service was fast and the employees were really friendly. They greeted everyone as they entered and said goodbye as they left.

I stopped by tonight for the first time to try the frozen custard. I got the chocolate custard in a cone and it was very good. I love looking at all the old fashioned candies they sell. Some are packaged and some in jars. This would be the perfect place to take your favorite niece or nephew, son, daughter, or mother! I'm glad to have Lickity Split in the neighborhood. I'll be back to try some of the many other wonderful looking treats.

What an adorable little addition to this area! Makes me feel like a kid again. From the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out, a smile from ear to ear. Super friendly staff, too! Delicious sweets and eats. Will be back..and back..and back!

Concrete Chocolate with Oreos is even better than the shake.

I have been a fan of Lickity Split since its opening on Broadway. I was tickled pink when I heard they were opening a place up on Western/Lunt. Went up there last night with some friends from out of town. I ordered the smaller size concrete like I always do. I was shocked when the girl handed me a cup that was almost half the size as what I had gotten in the past, but for the same price. The custard is good but not good enough to charge $5 for a small cup. I doubt I will be going back. Plus they messed up my order and my friends order.

Delicious custard and friendly employees! Will be back... Probably too often as I live pretty close by!

Just moved into the neighborhood and I kept driving past this place and having a sweet tooth I HAD to check this place out. They have AMAZING frozen custard and the staff is super friendly and helpful. The shop has a great selection of old school candy like pop rocks and tins of zebra gum. Great place to check out if in the Rogers Park area.

So happy this place is open In the hood! Great place for w good cup of coffee and we love the custard! Also a must visit if you're hunting for some old school candy as a gift. The service is friendly too. My only complaint? They didn't open while I was still pregnant.

A shrine to sugar, sweets and sweetness. The latest and perhaps most wonderful addition to eating in West Rogers Park (There's finally getting to be a there, there) is this second location of Lickity Split. It's the eye candy that corner has lacked for some time; great curb appeal, especially when lighting the darkness, screened by gently falling snow shortly after their January 2015 opening, turning Lunt and Western to Bedford Falls. Similar in updated, old fashioned style to their first shop at 6056 North Broadway in Edgewater and with the same stock of rich, creamy, delectable freshly made frozen custards and concretes, always delightful locally roasted Metropolis coffee and espresso drinks and wide variety of tasty baked treats from various local vendors, along with loaded bulk glass jars and nostalgic mass market packaged candy brands like Necco wafers and neon coloured beverages in glass bottles like Green River, sweetened with only cane sugar. Many of the same clean-cut young servers from their first location work here as well, my personal favourite being Meghan, a charming third year Loyola student who during our interaction exemplified proper service skills, appropriate dress and what sadly due to their rarity have come to be called old fashioned courtesy and manners. My Grinchy heart grew two sizes that day when she genuinely, politely, respectfully offered her hand and asked my name at close of our transaction, saying she looked forward to seeing me again and to meeting S. (a Loyola alum.) Meghan gave me reason to hope for the future of our faltering, benighted Western culture, and happiness in the present with more really good coffee frozen custard. Sadly, coffee custard is a temporary offering. Happily, Meghan's likely permanent kind good manners are exhibited by all other known Lickity Split employees. My brief first visit had occurred six nights earlier during a snow storm when co-owner Ken Anderson graciously opened the door and insisted I enter this land of delights after they were closed, then minutes later locked up as I left with a pint of his correctly recommended frozen coffee custard, a fresh seven-layer bar and heart full of warm fuzzies due to his kind, friendly conversation. (A subsequent third visit with S., a shared affogato, a quart of coffee custard take away and more bulk candy in little brown bags has sealed the deal. This place and these people are marvelous treasures) They're within walking distance. My dentist and internist, tailor and haberdasher will be oh-so happy. We certainly are, too. Sincerely, your most probably pre-diabetic friends in Yelp, ~Peter O. and S.

Thee absolute best frozen custard place that I've been to! Any fresh fruit or candied frozen custard concrete mix you could want

Thank you thank you thank you Lickity Split owners for coming to the neighborhood! The frozen custard is deliciously decadent without being too sweet (not easy to accomplish) and the decor is old school and modern all at the same time. LOVE this place. Best bet: get your custard and stroll west a half-block to Indian Boundary Park. Kids can play on the playground while grown-ups enjoy the beautiful wide-open space.

My husband and I went here after the dentist the other day (a couple hours later is ok, right?) and got an OMG and a cone concrete (can't remember the official name of his). His was MUCH better. The OMG was distinctly lacking in chocolate sauce and brownies - it was pretty bland, although of course vanilla custard is GOOD, it wasn't worth all the calories. Plus, the brownies were supposed to be peanut butter, which I really wasn't getting at all, and they were somewhat dry. I suggest if you really want things chocolately with any of the concretes, you go with chocolate custard because they don't really make up for it in fillings. My husband's cone concrete was wonderful, though, even with vanilla...crunchy carmely, yum They also have a great candy selection, including honeycomb peanuts, which I have had to order online until now - and not at a terrible price - this was the highlight for me!! Plus, they threw in 2 squirrel nut zippers to be nice. Speaking of which, nice they were - no points off for lack of friendliness. As others have pointed out, it has a great ambiance - charming and nostalgic.

As I walked into Lickity Split's second location on Western and Lunt in West Rogers Park I couldn't help but feel nostalgic, even 40 years later this place is still so similar to many places my Mom took me as a child. This place reminds you more of small town america than urban city, and honestly, I loved that more than anything. Now, Lickity Split's claim to fame may be their frozen custard but they are so much more than that! Besides custard there's candy, so many varieties to choose from, something to make everyone happy. They also have a case filled with cupcakes and other delectable treats if that's what you desire! And, okay, I will not cop out on the fact that I went into Lickity Split today because I desired a concrete in the worst way. Hey, I'm almost 54 and have never had a concrete until today and that was on my bucket list so at least when I kick the bucket I will have had knocked that one off the list! And, yes, today will be my first and last concrete cause that sucker cost me $7.38 and that's a high price to pay even if that concrete had the best tasting, silkiest, custard I've ever had.. okay and it had sprinkles and whipped cream.. Boy, did I like that, however $7.38's worth me thinks not! So, I am deducting one star only for the high cost of my very special concrete.. And, I must give props to the very cheerful counter associates, they were most friendly and helpful. So, I loved so much about Lickity Split, but still just can't justify the cost. Still, am happy I ventured in tonight, And, as the warmer nights are approaching you should venture in too...

I don't know how it could get better. Their ice cream never disappoints. Staff is awesome. Great business. Feeling blessed to have them in walking distance. This is a magical corner for the neighborhood. Amazing...so good.

I'm not a medical expert, but I have recent, extensive experience as a patient. And I can attest to the unexpected medicinal qualities of the vanilla malt served at this venue. Taken internally, of course. Best tasting medical treatment I ever have encountered. The chocolate chip cookie with sea salt is an elixir for anything else that ails you. Delightful, pleasant service, fair prices, happy smiles among the patrons.
