Went with some classmates for lunch. Service was fast and friendly. I had the Yaki Soba with tofu and it was very good. Everyone else in my party seemed satisfied with their dishes. I'd like to try more of their menu.

This is the place for green curry, peeps! For me, it's undoubtedly the best Thai restaurant among the 5 on Taylor street. One night, they gave us our order to go even after their closing time!

I just got delivery from there and let me tell you, I enjoy this place a lot. I am really a fan of the "side dishes" more than the main dish. My pad siew was mighty tasty, but I'm also a fan of the slight sweetness. I also got some vegetable samosas, the veggie egg rolls (they give you for free if you do an order of $10 or more on GrubHub) , and the vegetable dumplings. The samosas surprised me with their flavor, very true to what I would get in an Indian restaurant but in smaller form. The egg rolls and the dumplings were average Thai fare, nothing to call home about but still pretty good. I plan on ordering again (I seem to be that person who seems to enjoy their food in a not-so-greatly reviewed place. And I'm a food snob).
(4)Ming L.
Worst Thai food we ever had compared to other Thai restaurants. I ordered a roasted duck on rice, it's just five pieces of thin duck meat on top of a huge mountain of rice and the juice cannot even soak all the rice, I definitely don't want to pay $9 for this - $2 a piece of thin duck meat. My friend had cashew chicken, the cashews were burned and they put starch in the juice and my friend shook his head on the first bite. This would be the last time we walk into this place.

I have never been dissappointed eating here, everything is flavorful.
(4)Becky L.
The best Thai restaurant in University Village! I am a vegetarian and LOVE Thai food. I have been trying the various places in the area, as I work close by, and ordered from Lemongrass after seeing great reviews on grub hub. I phoned in delivery and the women I spoke to was incredibly kind and helpful. When the sweet delivery driver arrived, it turned out she used to work at my favorite Thai Place in Hyde Park, small world! The food was delicious, we had Pad Se Ew that was very flavorful. I soon came back again, and tried the Pad Woon Sen, which was also delicious. Exceptional service and yummy food, I can't wait to try more items!
(5)Sarit R.
Amazing home made thai dishes. I love their size serving & prices :)
(5)Brent W.
Agree w the other reviewers on the Pad Thai (overly tangy and really not all that great) and Egg Roll (srsly inedible, two bites. done.). I asked my server if it had cream cheese in it bc it tasted like it and it had this white cream cheese looking layer on the inside of the dough, it was pretty nasty. The one good thing was the chicken soup which was very tasty and set me up for unrealistic expectations.
(2)Becky K.
good food, cute family owned, and clean!! tofu crispy pad see ew soooo goooddd. a little on the sweeter side for me but still love it. love their viet hot coffee and thai ice teas.

I honestly don't know how this place stays open, as I don't think I've ever seen more than two couples at a time in this good size restaurant at lunch. Perhaps they bank on dinner... but I'm doubtful. In any case, a colleague and I stopped in for lunch in the efforts to try something new, and the appeal of the $6-$7 lunch special had me intrigued. We ordered up a Thai Ice Tea, Thai Coffee, Basil Beef, and Cashew Chicken. Lunch specials came salad and soup. Salad: Fresh, crisp, with a slight vinegarette flavor to it. Well made and tasty. Good opener. Soup: What was this? Simple broth, a piece of chicken, and rice at the bottom. While simple and not extremely flavorful, there was definitely something soothing and enjoyable about it... the subtle flavors were nice and made me want to relax. Cashew chicken: Not bad, not great. Chicken was slightly over cooked, cashews and veggies were in the typical sauce, small inverted bowl of rice joined the plate. Even a nicely made carrot flower to adorn the dish. Thai Iced Coffee: This was rich and creamy... the way thai iced coffee should be served. Be forwarned, this was $4, so almost the price of their lunch meal itself! Total for all food came to $25 after tax and tip, so not too bad considering how full I was! Verdict: The soup and thai iced coffee were the real winners for me... overall, the food quality and the lunch price is good. Doesn't stand out, but you feel like for the quantity your money was well spent. Customer service is phenomenal, as it should be with only one table of two to serve... however I'm concerned with their ability to stay open at this rate. Check it out for a change up in lunch meals.

I am surprised by this little place a bit out of the way. A little hard to find but still incredibly good and with prices that border on this side of ridiculous. Papaya salad, which I haven't had in a while caught my eye. The salad was spicy but not too spicy, which was okay but still really tasty. My dining partner is just starting to appreciate spicy food it was enough for her and still had enough heat for me. Tasty though and good enough to order again. The Green curry was okay, tasty but I did ask for hot and it was medium at best. The Thai iced tea was pretty good, I ordered it late into the meal but it was worth it. Sweet but the tea was strong enough where I got to taste the tea. Worth a repeat visit.
(3)Simit P.
We ordered a few dishes via delivery from here. The panang curry we ordered was good, but the pho contained beef. The menu contained no indication that beef would be included in the pho. We contacted Lemongrass to request a correction via re-delivery, but they refused. We felt dissatisfied with this customer experience and won't be re-ordering from them again.
(1)Jacob W.
Came in for lunch and ordered pad thai. It was a little too saucy for my liking but it was quick and delicious! Service was friendly and prices were great.
(4)Gin K.
Service is wonderful! The food isn't the best Thai food I've had, but it's satisfying. Their food tends to be a little greasy, but I think most Thai restaurants make their food greasy anyway so I've come to accept that. I really like their soups. Their egg drop soup and Tom Yum noodle soup are amazing and warm you right up! I think the place is family-owned, and the people I've met there are very nice. Sometimes the couple's children are hanging out by the register, but they're calm and well-behaved. One kid even offered me a gummy bear while I was waiting for my take-out - so cute!
(4)clare d.
There was only one other table seated. I realized the kitchen may be busy with delivery and take out, but they gave my friend beef massaman when she ordered chicken yellow curry, so this was a front-of-house issue! Then the lady gave my dining companion a whole lot of attitude when my friend politely and hesitatingly noted the discrepancy. Also, the spring roll was the wrong temperature (the whole thing was hot?) and the edamame was not salted properly. Also, I got attitude when I asked if they had sriracha. Also, there is Golden Thai right there on the other side of the sidewalk. My recommendation, humbly, is that you go there instead.
(1)Ryan B.
Extremely friendly service but arguably worst pho I have ever had.
(2)Richie D.
Underrated?!?! Umm I think not. I should really just create a pre-written template review that I can use for 9/10ths of all my Thai restaurant experiences. With that said, Lemongrass was simply average in my book. -Lunch Special (nothing new) ranging between $6 and $7. You receive a main entree, miso soup and an extremely, unexpected spicy beet/cabbage/carrot salad. -Great food prices for large quantities. -Cute, plain interior, yet quaint. -Over friendly waiters/waitresses that smile to overcompensate for their lacking language skills. Gosh, I'm feeling guilty but I feel that I must promise the Yelp community honesty.
(3)Jordan H.
Delivery Review: Everything was cold - I blame this on the delivery driver more than the restaurant, but it's still a knock. Lumpia - these are really hard to mess up; I'd much rather order the Lumpia from Butterfly Sushi. Perhaps it was because they were soggy and cold and the order included 6 very small lumpia. Pancit - another Filipino dish, and it just missed the mark. While the bbq pork was good in it, the rest was bland, noodles weren't cooked property, and just lacked any sort of cohesive flavor. Yellow Curry - this was actually pretty good yellow curry, but it was the smallest portion of curry I've ever seen. It was a half pint container that was filled primarily with liquid, and very few chunks of chicken and potato. Complete ripoff.

I came here for lunch 3 weeks ago with some new friends and thought it was decent for lunch. Big pluses were that it was a short walk from my workplace and they had cheap lunch specials for just under $7. They do accept credit cards. My friends had the Panang Curry and Tom Yum noodle soup, and I had a beef dish with basil and rice. They both liked their dishes. I liked that there was a large amount of basil in my dish. The sweet and sour soup and egg roll that came with the lunch specials were nothing special though. The tables were mostly full around noon. I would come again for a quick, cheap Thai lunch.
(3)Angela W.
This is a great little place for lunch! I work close to the restaurant so I decided to try it out. I was not expecting much because there are a lot of Thai restaurants on Taylor - and not one of them has ever been great. This was a pleasant surprise in every way. The restaurant is light and cheerful - the light is good in there. I have had noodle dishes each time I've been there and they prepare it all very well. the ingredients -especially the vegetables have been fresh and not over cooked. The Tamarind Noodles are truly deelish! Food presentation is good with carrots made of flowers and nice little touches. The only thing I can say is each time I go there I see more customers - eventually, they will need more servers!
(5)Aja V.
Everytime I stop by Lemongrass for take-out, the restaurant is empty. I like their food, so I hope more people stop by and check them out. The portions are a nice-size and the spiciness of the fried rice keeps me coming back for more. I know there are other well-established Thai food places on Taylor street, but I ask you to take some time out and give this one a try.
(3)Katherine M.
It is not terrible but very bland. It seems watered down in the sauces and the soups don't seem very fresh. AFter a couple lunches here and at a catered even by them, I really am not very impressed.
(2)Robyn L.
We live down the street and this is our absolute favorite place on Taylor. The food is so good. If you're looking for great service and ambience, this place is not for you. If you want quality food in an intimate family-owned restaurant, this is your spot.
(5)Moon-Soo L.
I like this place! At first, my friend took me here. After that, I took my family here. I think the owner really know how to cook. I am Asian, so I have been familiar with Thai food for a long time. The taste is as a whole quite good when compared with other Thai restaurants. The owner is also welcoming.
(5)Sandra T.
This place has just reopened under new ownership. A husband and wife team that really know the ropes. First of all, the place is clean. Secondly, friendly and welcoming. Last but not least, the food I had for lunch was awesome. Let me clarify, I had the Lad Na. The food was steaming hot, not kind of warm (which I can't stand). The broccoli was crispy, cooked well and still had that pretty green color. The wide noodles had just the right amount of crispiness. The tofu had the perfect texture, size and doneness. The gravy was wonderful with just the right amount of garlic. I wish I could make this dish as well as the Lemongrass cook. I had the Thai iced coffee, yummy treat. Really refreshing during these warmer months. Lemongrass does not use MSG, which I know is important to many consumers.
(4)Xuesong B.
The combo fried rice is the best one I have ever had. One of my best places on Taylor street.
(4)Missy W.
This is my favorite Thai place!!! It's by my old office & nowhere near my house, but I've driven there in a snow storm because it's that good!!! The owners are incredibly friendly and always greet us (my bf & I) with a smile. I love the chicken panang & they always make to order for me with extra seasonal veggies (for a reasonable up charge). If you haven't eaten here you're missing out.
(5)Angela C.
I've tried my fair share of Thai food in Chicago and lemon grass has the best pad Thai I've had thus far in this Windy City. Definitely will be coming back. :)
(5)Marisol R.
I always order the Chicken Pad Thai. Spicy Please! It was good, its either a hit or miss with the flavor. Today was a good experience, I would choose their Pad Thai over their competitors. Very friendly staff, and what makes them different is their chocolate fortune cookies.
(3)Daniel N.
FOOD: 3 stars - They were unable to make the Thai Spring Roll appetizer for some unknown reason. The chicken pad thai had very little chicken and was somewhat underwhelming but decent portion size. The roasted thai duck was cooked well with good flavor but the portion was on the small side and the watery sauce with small serving dishes made it somewhat challenging to eat without making a mess. SERVICE: 3 stars - Server spoke limited English and couldn't give us any recommendations. He never asked us if we even wanted anything to drink besides room temp tap water with no ice. Friendly service but definitely lacking anything above the minimum. ENVIRONMENT: 3 stars - Bench seating by the window was off balanced so we moved ourselves to a different seat. There were no other patrons in the place, just two little kids that were cute but being kinda annoying bickering with each other unattended.
(3)Allison J.
Ordered take out from here once, on my way home from work. Got the Japanese gyoza, a noodle bowl and 2 curry dishes. The Curry dishes were good and comparable to other Thai take-out I've had. I could live without the noodle bowl though. It was an easy, quick dinner that I would try again.
(3)Daniel C.
Crab rangoons were great! Not too crabby. Big fried triangles. I ordered the massaman curry which has the only real veggie listed as potatoes When I got the dish they had replaced potatoes with red & green peppers and I said "This has no potatoes." to the server and he said ok and returned to the kitchen. He came back and asked me If I wanted another veggie because there were no potatoes ready and I said no but this was long after I began eating my meal. He offered no discount or apology. I have had better Thai almost everywhere with better service. Must survive on college student influx. Also was SUB ZERO inside and uncomfortable
(1)Ashley A.
We order delivery from this place alllll the time! It's so freaking good honestly some of the best Thai in the city. Yaki soba and pad ke mow(sp?) are our faves. Kinda embarassing they typically know our order as soon as we call! Not the type of joint to dine in at-their kids have 1,000 toys laying around. You can tell they don't really want or care about building dine in business very much. The restaurant is just more of a vessel to make yummy food for pick up or delivery. It will be a sad day when I am out of delivery zone;)
(5)K B.
Awesome food! Very courteous delivery, too. They were slightly late (less than 5 minutes off the estimate) and were so apologetic. Busy night with the Bears game, so not a problem at all in my book. Pho was delicious- hit the spot! Sad I didn't order enough for leftovers.
(5)Kacy Young-won J.
This place is pretty awful. The service is slow, the waiters are often rude, and the quality of food is awful. I came here couple days ago because Golden thai had a long wait to be seated. The people I was with got pad thai, pho, and green curry. None of the dishes were good. I used to go here for their lunch specials, where they throw in a soup and eggroll with the reduced lunch hour price. But when I asked about the lunch specials, the waiter rudely told me they stopped doing that "like 3 years ago". I definitely got the lunch special last year so I don't know what he's talking about.... but yea, now that the lunch special is gone, i DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. I don't even know how this place is still in business. You can get some quality thai food right across the street at Golden Thai.
(1)Rae T.
Such a wonderful family-owned restaurant. Their soups are amazing, especially if you are feeling under the weather. My personal favorite is the chicken rice soup, it's soul-warming. I would definitely recommend Lemongrass if you are looking for a quick eat!
(5)Jay I.
I will have to take a grade down for this place even though it aches me a little bit (I like this place overall). We once ordered their sort of signature soup (the soup with their restaurant name on it), and it exactly tasted like a instant korean ramen soup. We couldn't believe what we tasted so we had to do it over and over. Having eaten Korean ramen all my life, I had to go to the conclusion that the ramen soup paste somehow contributed to the soup we ordered. I mean, it is not even thai anymore is it? However sad this maybe, I will have reservation ordering certain food from this place because of this experience.
(3)Mad I.
Stumbled upon this place when wandering around getting acclimated to the UIC campus...sizing it up of course compared to my Grad studies at Depaul. It being a Sunday night at 9:45 (Engineering/design classes on a Sunday are no joke and ran really late!) nothing was open....n-o-t-h-i-n-g. I ducked in here and while the owner told me they were closed, she served me up, hot and fresh, and I was soooo impressed! Could be my new favorite Thai!! In case you are wondering what I am comparing to.... Joys, Penny's, Cozy, Butterfly...
(5)Paul R.
Maybe I am just a Thai Food Snob, or maybe I live in Chicago where there is a good Thai restaurant on every other block. There are so many that we really like. Opart Thai on North Western Ave, Thai Classic on N. Clark, the worlds fastest delivery from Joy Noodle up on North Broadway, but this place in not on the list. Our two favorites are Bodhi Thai on West Roosevelt in Berwyn or D-Thai on Ogden at Harlem Ave. So here is my review of Lemongrass Pan Asian. The portions were very small. This place wasn't super expensive, but when we got home the food containers were only 1/2 filled with food. This is Chicago. We do Big Portions, at least almost fill the containers. I could see this being a lunch special portion, but not a dinner portion. We ordered Pad Se-eu, some Basil Beef and Panang Curry, along with some Tom Kha soup. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't exceptional. My suggestion would be hit this place if you have to, but if not, try one of the other thousands of Thai places in the city.
(2)Reginice C.
Great Food! I had the Curry Chicken. It was slightly different compared to other Curry Chicken I have had, but it was still excellent. Nice amount of spice, not bland at all. My cousin dining with me had a sweet noodle dish and she said it was tasty as well. There is a lost of a star due to the ambiance. My visit was on mid-Winter, so of course it was cold outside, but it was also cold in the restaurant; my cousin and I had to keep our coats and scarves on while dining. Though the food was not bland the atmosphere was; no decor and the seating was uncomfortable. And I'd like to end this on a good note that the server was friendly. :)
(4)Aaron Jae M.
Regular pan asian food. Their menu was a little large in my opinion. A large menu makes me lose trust for the chef's abilities. I had no problems with the food or service but nothing impressed me. Their menu includes a few asian items that you can't get anywhere else on taylor street but most of the items on their menu can be found at better locations for the same price at restaurants that are one specific asian type instead of multiple.
(3)Melissa L.
Good food and fast delivery... ive ordered a bunch of times and theyre always early. also the lady on the phone is super nice. would def recommend to anyone looking for some good thai around uic.
(4)Cristina P.
Really good pad thai. Ok Spring rolls. The server was very very nice. I think the food is slightly pricey, but overall good.
(3)Joe C.
Some of the best Asian food in the city in my opinion. Not only is the food great but it's reasonably priced and the ingredients are fresh. There is also free parking which is a huge plus.
(5)Kevin C.
I had the lunch special with chicken penang curry, and it was delicious! I also got miso soup and an egg roll all for only $7.50. I really don't know why this place is getting such low reviews because the food is as good if not better than the other two Thai places on Taylor. The restaurant was clean and simply designed and the waitress was attentive. The only minus was that I had to walk through the kitchen to get to the bathroom, which isn't even a real criticism of a restaurant.
(4)Alina M.
Nice decor, friendly staff and great Thai food for a good price. I recommend the Lard Nar (yeah, it sounds kind of weird if you've never had it...) and the tamarind noodles. Their cucumber salad is delicious as well. What I want to know though, how do they make those flower-like things from carrots? I like to eat them anyway :-)
(5)Steven R.
This little family run place is one of my favorites on Taylor. Consistently good, fresh thai food at reasonable prices. Good service. We go at least once a week. The lunch special comes with free soup and some cabbage/cucumber salad. I recommend the pad see eu, pad woon sen, or chicken noodle soup, personally.
(4)Jean Z.
Good thai. The Beef Paradise is like deep fried steak strips - very flavorful but more like jerky than anythign else. Lunch for 3: $41 with tip. Stop in here early - I think we were alone when we sat and about 30 people when we left! Yum.
(4)Andy F.
I was not really wowed with any of the other Taylor street Thai places. Lemongrass just opened within the last few months and is definitely the best around. The staff is very friendly they have some good deals on appetizers and the like. Most importantly the food is fantastic. Well spiced, not bland, the Beef Paradise appetizer is wonderful, definitely worth a visit.
(5)Barbara S.
Pleasant, casual family owned Pan-Asian restaurant on Taylor just east of Ashland. It is by far the best restaurant of its type on Taylor Street. There are many classic Thai dishes on the menu, and you can always specify spiciness. If you order a noodle soup be prepared for a huge portion of noodles, or request a half portion. The owners aim to please. Lemongrass does a brisk delivery and take-out Business. The owners have two well-behaved little boys and the restaurant is child friendly. It's a good addition to the neighborhood.
(4)Danielle C.
This review is from May-but writing it now-- We noticed this place went up on Taylor and decided to give it a shot. We got here around 8:30pm on a Sunday night, so it was pretty empty. Atmosphere was clean, fresh, modern and relaxing. They brought us complimentary endamame while we decided on our order. We ordered veggie potstickers (6 came to an order) and they were definitely tasty, fried-non-greasy and a cucumber/vinegarette salad for appetizers. My bf had the terriyaki beef which was fabulous and very fresh. I ordered the pad thai (tofu) which was beautifully presented. (Unfortunately I was too inpatient to grab the camera out of my purse....so no pics) My only gripe-the entree portions were a little on the smaller side. Not super small, but just not very big. We both brought small doggy bags home-but it wasn't much. We'll definitely be coming back! We had a great time!
(4)Andi W.
Since I've eaten at nearly every other thai place within delivery range, I decided to take my friend to lunch at this one and see how it was. The service was fine, the atmosphere nice (though slightly quiet and stark), but the food was the problem. I got the panang curry, one of my favorite thai dishes. I was in the mood for it because it comes with "mixed vegetables" and I really wanted more than just some bamboo shoots. Taking my first bite, it was obvious the dish was over-salted. I decided not to complain, but as I continued eating, i started wondering where the veggies were. I dug down a little bit to find there were about three slices of green pepper, a few slices of red pepper and plenty of basil leaves. I was so disappointed that not only was my dish salty, but I'm forcing it down without the enjoyment of all the veggies that I had so been looking forward to. Come on guys at Lemongrass, read these Yelp reviews and save your business. Get a new cook, new management, something! Until then, you'll find me at Golden Thai.
(2)Varsha L.
We just ordered from here-our first time I had the pad thai which was okay-kind of bland, the catfish curry was good, the beef paradise was like beef jerky, no paradise eating beef paradise, do NOT order it!!!! ewwwwww we just threw it out! Also this place was totally empty but on our way there did see a bunch of places I would consider checking out!
(3)Elsie P.
I should have looked at the reviews before coming here. Never again. At first I was so excited to see curry puffs listed on the appetizers, since I had them once in MN, but haven't been able to find them again. Apparently there was no effort to make them authentic since they were just 2 slices of wheat bread that clearly came out of a pressed sandwich toaster. Ick! I also had the Tom Yum soup. I absolutely agree with the other review saying how hot (temperature) the soup was, as I also burned my mouth. When I could finally eat it, I noticed it was a poor excuse for Tom Yum. Chopped bell peppers and mushrooms, with NO LEMONGRASS! How can a place called Lemongrass not even put lemongrass in Tom Yum?! And almost $11 for this awful meal! Not worth it at all! Overall it just seemed like the kitchen was just throwing whatever scraps they had into what they thought would pass for a meal. FAIL!
(1)Kevin H.
Decent take out. Tried the Tom Yum soup, drunken noodles, panang curry and of course Thai ice tee. The tea left something to be desired. Most Thai tea tastes the same to me, but this one seemed off. It was sweet but it had a sort of grainy after taste. Hard to explain. The soup came really hot. Like temperature hot. I burned my tongue a little on the first spoon. That really meant two things. One the were fast for delivery. And two they used some good packaging. The drunken noodles were the of the thin noodle variety. I'm a fan of the thicker almost sheet like noodles. Still it had good flavor to it. The panang curry was probably the best thing in the meal. I really enjoyed it. All in all I'd say probably my last delivery take out venture, but it was cheap fast and hit the spot.
(2)Olu A.
Good place to eat. Great price. Great location and good customer service. Sue and her husband are so nice. I usually order the basil fried rice which I highly recommend you try.
(5)Andrea K.
Ordered take out. Prompt delivery w/ in 30 minutes. One of the few places open until 10 pm so we were left with little choice. We ordered the: spicy beef rad nar- bad cuts of beef. Small take out portion. Did not have much flavor other than it was spicy. Watery sauce. Pineapple fried rice- tasted like cheap Chinese fried rice with 3 pieces of pineapple Masuman beef- had a heavy heavy coconut flavor, again cheap cuts of beef, cubes of potatoes (why?!?!) that was hard, and a few pieces of pineapple (???) the dish had more onions & potatoes than it did beef. Thai tea- was the only refreshing thing out of the order. The cup was of course filled mainly with ice and not worth the $3.50 charged. Over all the small portioned, over priced, and hardly satisfying meal cost $32. I would not order from them again. Delivery charge is additional $3.-
(1)Chaya B.
Great food at a great price! Ill be back!
(5)Dex Y.
Got a very salty dish from them recently, almost not edible. For a restaurant having a super low turnover, that is absolutely not acceptable.
(1)Stephanie C.
Tried Lemongrass through grubhub. Lobster rangoons were awesome. Otherwise it was your typical run of the mill place.
(3)Andrew L.
Not sure what to think. I ordered carryout from here earlier this summer, and have only tried it once, so I would like to think it was just an off day. The bad thing is, with all of the other above average Thai places in the area, it'll be hard for me to give it a second try... The pad thai and pad kee mao comes in chinese carryout looking cartons. The pad thai was pretty bland, and the noodles were a little thicker than typical. That's pretty much all I can say about the pad thai. The pad kee mao was not much better, and it only contained a few types of veggies in it. It was also pretty bland. I had some trouble finding the place for the carryout, because they only have a little material sign on the front. I mentioned to the lady at the counter that they should probably get a nice big sign so people know that they exist, but she just kind of laughed it off, but I wasn't kidding... There were zero customers in the place at the time and it was late dinner time. How about it Lemongrass? How about stepping up? You guys have a great location near UIC with tons of foot traffic. All you need to do is re-invent some of your sauces with some personality! And then promote your place a little better, maybe a new sign? Some new carryout containers? Do it and I promise I'll come back, and I'll bring some friends also. (Cut to Babu in the background shaking his finger and saying, "You're a very bad man, Jerry Seinfeld! Very, very bad!") I tried.
(2)Jackie S.
So sad. They changed owners and no longer serve the yummy salad at lunch and the soup is not good. There are frozen carrots in it. Yuck. They had the best soup when it was the old owners.
(2)Aleny G.
Decent tofu panang curry!! Jasmin rice was nice and sticky- thumbs up! What gives it 4 stars is the 6.95 lunch special!! Waitress was a little curt but oh well, we were in a group from work so we kept each other unaffected.
(4)FOOD A.
This is a wonderful little place to grab a quick, tasty and cheap lunch. I had hot tea, soup, salad, and a noodle dish, all for 8.50! Everything was fresh, flavorful and, perfect for a mild-mouthed white kid like me, not spicy! I chose the Pad Woon Sen ("A silvery tangle of bean-thread vermicelli with chicken in garlicky yellow bean sauce, bean sprouts, eggs, scallions and black mushrooms." according to their menu), and as part of the lunch menu, it came with soup and salad. The soup was chicken broth containing steamed rice, ginger and scallions. The salad was a nice mix of shredded cabbages, carrots, bell peppers, onions, basil and as a nice touch, beets. The dressing was a sweet and sour type dressing tasting of ginger and lime, a great accent for the mixture of veggies especially the beets. The hostess/waitress was very nice and helpful with the menu, she kept my teapot full while I read my book awaiting my next appointment at the UIC School of Dentistry. Highly recommended, If I lived anywhere close, I'd be sampling the rest of the menu in quick order. My four star rating comes mainly from the price of the lunch specials with great support coming from the fresh taste of the food.

They just did me wrong... Ug... my first 1 star review. This is a sad sad day. Well, to get on with it. I've been here twice before, nd each time I couldn't help but order the Tamarind Noodles they are - we're - so good. Well this lat time I went with Alina. We both ordered from the lunch menu. I of course had the Tamarind Noodles special, and we also ordered the Thai Sausage. Neither of us ever even heard of Thai Sausage before so we were a bit excited about it. We were served a small bowl of Rice Soup and a small House Special Salad. Both of which were good. The salad had a bit of a spicy kick too it, but I didn't really notice until she mentioned it. I really enjoyed the salad. The Thai Sausage was interesting at best. The smaller bits that were a bit well done tasted great, but the moist, juicy links were different. Finally the our main course was served to us. I noticed right off the bat that the Tamarind Noodles looked a bit odd. After eating a few bites I realized that the noodles were old. The tasted as if they were precooked, frozen and then reboiled. I know its a common way of preserving noodles at home, but I never expected to have old noodles at a restaurant. Having done the same with extra noodles at home I waved it off, ya they weren't great, but I was hungry. Continuing my meal I uncovered a small baby corn. It looked terrible. I then realized that the entire meal was old. All of the vegetables were soggy and droopy. I'm hoping that at least the Chicken was fresh, it didn't seem old; but who knows. I'm extremely disappointed with this place. I understand that sometimes restaurants prepare a large batch of some foods and sell it over the next few days. But the consistency of the noodles and the sogginess of the veggies tell me this food was older then a few day. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to make a scene in an almost empty restaurant. But I don't think I'll be eating there for a long while. You just don't do that. I would have appreciated it if they kindly told me that they where out of the Tamarind Noodles and asked me to order something else. I just think this is ridiculous and probably unethical. Too bad. I enjoyed there spin on Thai food too.

Like the previous poster said, this place recently reopened. I didn't try it before, so I'm referring to its new ownership. 1. These owners are super friendly and know who I am now even though I've only been a few times so far. They let us come and eat in once even though there was about 20 minutes till close. 2. Most of the apps are delicious. The rangoons are better than the other places on Taylor and there's a nice fusion selection overall. The green samosas are Indian-like, cute, green-colored and tasty. 3. The panang curry is my favorite and they always make it anyway you want w/ any meat or veggie, it's always good. As of now, it's my favorite Thai place on Taylor/Little Italy area.

this place is underrated. it's a bit farther from UIC so it's not as popular as the other Thai places in the area but it's just as good. they serve the fried rice in a heart shape. it's oh so romantic! and very tasty! i need to order from here way more often. see you soon!

I decided to give Lemongrass a try after reading fellow yelper reviews and boy, was I disappointed. Makes me wonder if ANY of these reviewers have ever eaten real Thai food before (It takes far more than a flower-shaped carrot to impress me of the quality/taste of food). I ordered 4 items: the Tom Kha Gai (by the way, wanted to add shrimp to the chicken soup, but they said they ran out of shrimp- at 7pm? ... really?!?), Neau Num Tok Salad, Spicy Basil Beef Fried Rice and Phad Kee Mao with Chicken. The soup had hardly any of the vegetables I'm accustomed to getting in this soup (tomatoes, straw mushrooms), not to mention the lack of any spice, or flavor. The Neau Num Tok (spicy beef salad) looked NOTHING like I've seen before. Instead of the normal rice powder, onion, scallion, lime juice, fish sauce, thai chilies and cilantro flavors, it came swimming in a pool of red-dyed (from the dyed julienne carrots), tasteless "dressing" and the beef seemed to have been STIR-FRIED, not grilled as it's usually prepared. The Spicy Beef Basil Fried rice was just about the ONLY edible dish, but then again, not so great either (how could you possibly mess up fried rice?); there were about 5 slices of what appeared to be boiled beef and had no basil nor spice to it. Perhaps they "ran out" of these pertinent ingredients as well! And to end my awful dining experience, the Phad Kee Mao- greasy, broken up wide rice noodles, lacking any spice and NO basil or jalapeno flavors what-so-ever... just gross. When I arrived around 7:30 to pick up my order, I noticed the ENTIRE restaurant was empty, and for good reason. The only plus was that the counter girl seemed to be very sweet, but that does not compensate for how ripped off I felt when unable to consume majority of the food. Fellow yelpers, consider yourself forewarned. I'd eat at Red Light (not authentic at all!) or Golden Thai before coming back here. On with my search for a decent Thai restaurant around the South Loop area :(
