Great chicken biscuit. The biscuit was buttery and flaky and the chicken breast was moist and delicious. The piece of chicken was also quite large. I enjoyed their ranch sauce. My girlfriend got the honey mustard and liked it as well. One thing to note, the spicy sandwich is legitimately spicy, not like lightly warm, like real hot spicy. I sort of wish I'd gotten the plain instead of the spicy but I enjoyed it all the same. $8 is a bit much for a chicken biscuit but it was basically worth it. This location takes credit cards, has free water and nice bathrooms

Allegedly there's a larger Leghorn. I've never been. It's hard to imagine it has the same feel. To say the cafe is cramped is accurate, but to say the cafe is cramped is unfair. Go with those you're intimate with. Better yet, go alone. It's got that that up-close, old-school, ready-made feel backdropping the construction of each hot sauce, hip hop, foil-wrapped delicacy. Sit at the counter. Savor the details. The jalepeno aioli. The fresh chicken breast. Forget the fries, you'll just get distracted. Get fifty napkins instead. Sit there and don't take any bite for granted and wish deeply that everyone put this sort of pride into their work.

I hate saying "vibe". That said this place has a crazy good vibe and amazing food. A little overpriced but I got a biscuit the size of my head and it was still light and fluffy and actually had a flavor to it. Breakfast sandwich was also just north of awesome. This might not be your everyday breakfast stop but if you are having a crap day this might just be the thing to pull you out of it.

3.5 stars strikes me as about right. They've got all the right component parts but don't seem to know how to use them. Let's start with the chicken: the hot was deliciously spicy, although the breading started to fall off almost immediately. It was also about twice the size of the biscuit. So only half the time was I eating any bread with my chicken. The caramel blue cheese butter was delicious and should be had on everything. I would eat that stuff with a spoon. The biscuit was too small in every direction and a touch harder than I would have liked. All that said, I walked away mostly thinking "that was some tasty chicken".

I love a good biscuit. Biscuit + fried chicken even better. Biscuit + fried chicken w/o antibiotics sounds like a winner. But after 2 attempts (both to-go), I'm not impressed. Breast/brined/biscuit w/kimchi bbq & lettuce/tomato. The condiments made the chicken soggy, there was barely any bbq so I couldn't taste it. The chicken barely had flavor and the biscuit hardened quickly. On top of that, the biscuit was falling apart and the shape of the chicken pieces not conducive to sandwich form so it wasn't possible to eat without deconstructing/fork/knife. The slaw tastes likes something from a less-than-thrilling Rosh Hashanah dinner. I want to love this place, absolutely rooting for a sustainably sourced quick meal and gourmet sides, so I'll go back for the chicken bowl with a biscuit on the side, but third strike and it's out.

The breakfast chicken and biscuit sandwich was amazing. It really exceeded my expectations. What a fun find in the city. The ambiance is nothing fancy, but who cares, the food is good and fun. I'm definitely coming back! The coffee was even great!

Made it out of my office and finally tried Leghorn. Cute spot, and we made it just in time before the rush. Naturally I "built my own". -chicken breast -biscuit -Honey Mustard -Not spicy -loaded it up with fixins It was shmeh. I enjoyed it, don't get me wrong... Just wasn't all that I was expected. Would wanted more of a click, more flavor. Ideally there would be some contrast. The biscuit really does it though. Brings a warm home style feel to the sandwich. Tried it once... happy I went. Prolly won't go back.

Fantastic location. Awesomely simple menu that will not disappoint. Who thought a chicken sandwich could be so good?! Service was great and friendly. I will definitely be back....this place is not to be missed.

Here is a quick summary: If you are looking for a moist chicken sandwich with a crisp, well-seasoned skin, look elsewhere. For $26 and some change, we ordered a chicken biscuit, a chicken sandwich, an order of their signature umami fries, a side of hushpuppies... and no drinks. The outcome? The price far outweighed the value of these items. ---------------------------------------------------- There is a small but significant increase in price for menu items at Leghorn Cafe compared to the predecessor Leghorn Chicken. Chicken sandwiches and biscuits are $8 instead of $7, and all sides are now $.50 to $1 more a piece. Sure, Leghorn Cafe is probably housed in more expensive real estate than Leghorn Chicken, but... is the increase in price worth a taste of their chicken sandwich? I contend that no, it's not. First, the chicken on both the biscuit and sandwich was not fried evenly. Each bite was a surprise... would I taste scorched, visibly burnt fried bits or tough, undercooked crust? Either way, the chicken lacked a moistness I crave in a chicken biscuit/sandwich, and the house seasoning was indistinctive -- quite bland, actually -- which is contrary to their house sauces. Yes, we both did enjoy the red jalapeno aioli and rancho verde sauces, without which we wouldn't have been able to finish our sandwich and biscuit. In regards to the two sides we ordered -- the umami fries and hushpuppies -- I suppose I liked the fries better. Unremarkable, the fries were... I guess, fine... and still not worth $4. Though, its saving grace was, again, the sauce. I use sauce in the loosest of sense, because I'm referring to their organic "catsup." Contrary to the chicken seasoning, their ketchup had a distinctive taste -- a welcomed addition to their umami fries. Moreover, possibly my least favorite part of our meal was the green chile hush puppies. They tasted as though they were fried too long in day old grease. The center was also too dry and lacked the fluffy, moist texture of delicious cornbread. The downfall of the hush puppies was likely their large size; the exterior cooks to doneness well before the center, resulting in a tough, hardened crust and an overly dry interior. ---------------------------------------------------- So, that's great -- not a fan of their food, but what about their overall shtick? Leghorn Cafe proudly and unabashedly supports gay rights: 2% of profits are donated to pro-gay organizations. Their stance on religion is comforting -- to me, at least -- for a business to openly accept and practice a person's freedom of religion as well as a person's freedom FROM religion. And if you've been to Leghorn Chicken, they make no secret of their social and political ideology; the decor smacks "political agenda," positioning itself opposite Chick-Fil-A. Having heard stories about the treatment of gay employees from several homosexual friends who used to work at Chick-Fil-A, I now have more respect for businesses like Leghorn Cafe that champion gay rights. However, I have one problem with Leghorn Cafe's strategy... The cost of the chicken sandwich. A Chick-Fil-A sandwich is only $3.05 -- that's $5 cheaper than the typical amount one would spend for a sandwich at Leghorn Cafe. If the goal is to draw Chick-Fil-A customers to Leghorn Cafe, then menu prices need to be comparable. Otherwise, Leghorn Cafe will only attract a particular type of customer: one that already actively chooses to patronize businesses with pro-gay ideologies. This group makes a very, very small portion of the overall consumer base; the typical consumer does not research a business' social and political philosophies before frequenting them. However, a better pricing scheme at Leghorn Cafe could reach out to that Chick-Fil-A customer who would have otherwise walked right past the corner of La Salle and Ohio St... and that's better for the pro-gay rights cause.

Stopped by today after several coworkers raved about the chicken sandwiches and I gotta say they were right. The main choices are pretty straightforward chicken breast or thigh, bun or biscuit, hot or not, the biggest decision lies with the sauces. I went with pickle brined breast on a buttermilk biscuit, with buttermilk rancho verde sauce and it was really good. The cafe itself is small but I ate there choosing to sit at the counter. There's seats along the front window and two booths. They do offer breakfast until 10:30 am so I will have to go back and try that. The food was prepared quick and the staff were nice. It's nothing fancy just quick delicious chicken sandwiches.

The politicization of everything can be a problem, but if it means more places like Leghorn Cafe... I'd vote for that. Today is a rather momentous day in the neighborhood. Shake Shack's opening day is *also* today, but in spite of the 45+ minute wait there, there was still a 10 minute wait for chicken here. After tasting it, I understand why. I ordered umami fries and fried chicken tenders, with organic ketchup and rancho verde sauce. Umami means flavor, and the fries had it in spades; savory, sweet and salty in just the right balance. They were also just a tad crunchy. The fries are served with organic ketchup, which has a little more vinegar punch than regular ketchup. Great accompaniment to the fries. The chicken tenders are covered with a reasonably thin batter and fried, then covered with more savory spices (a pinch of cayenne here, a lot of smoky paprika). The tenders themselves were very moist. This is the perfect chicken tender. The verde sauce was cool and a bit spicy, like a more interesting ranch sauce. It went great with the fries as well. Leghorn Cafe makes no bones about its social policy (donating 2% of profits to pro-gay organizations), its religious policy (there is none) or its corporate policy ("We abhor corporate bullshit"), or its overall F*ck Chick-Fil-A policy ("We are open all day Sunday"). I don't really care about any of that, but I do care about great food, and Leghorn Cafe has great food. The best fried chicken I've had in Chicago... so far!

I disagree with all the nay Sayers This place is original and authentic. The seating is minimal but the food is worth the wait. The chicken skins are decadent and the chicken sandwiches are the bomb. I recommend the spicy versus the pickle brined, as they are more flavorful. Definitely a hole in the wall but worth a try.

Really fast and pretty good, but I don't care about my food being organic, artisanal, or Amish, so I'm not their target audience.

I'm hooked. I got a pickle brined fried chicken thigh on a homemade biscuit with buttermilk rancho verde sauce. BAM! ((mouth explosion)) I got one for M too and we're both hooked. Sure. There's more to the menu than that awesomeness but we found it. We found the sweet sweet honey crack pot and we are stuck. We reward ourselves with this awesomeness on Sundays after a 1.5 hour workout to gain back our calories. And then our crying fat cells gasp "yussss!" because they are restored! "Honey badger don't give a shit. If it's hungry it's hungry." That's right. We go on hallelujah Sundays. Chick-fil-A loves church more than my gay ass but you know what? I bet you anything that JC woulda loved him some Leghorn and he would've loved it right next to me because his homies were prostitutes, tax collectors, and sinners. It's not like Leghorn Cafe is perfect but they definitely have some things right (besides their perfect chicken sammie). For example, this location takes plastic. Furthermore, they will deliver aforementioned perfect sammie to my home until 10:00 PM for $6. BUT: here's the tough love. My Leghorn lovers need to put the price of their chicken sandwich on their menu. It's $8 folks. Don't hide it. It's easy to taste the value when your stomach is tripping out rainbows and unicorns because it's so freakin' happy! Also. Bring back the homemade sodas. You hate corporate -ish? Then don't serve corporate pop. The homemade sodas were a smash and I loved them but now I just drink Lake Michigan water like the rest of Chicago.

Third visit in the past six weeks, and I have to say the third trip was the charm - we received two perfectly fried, juicy and mammoth "hot chicken" breasts, just spicy enough to leave us a fiery, yet comfortable, mouth burn. I'm not sure why the biscuits on my previous visits had been so disappointing, so I opted for the soft rolls on the most recent lunch. They were super soft, but sturdy enough to support the huge breast, tomato slice, trio of pickle slices and wilted lettuce. Sadly, the French fries haven't gotten any better - still limp and under cooked. Leghorn will certainly be a Saturday mid-morning stop since we're right around the corner.

I was really excited to see Nashville Hot Chicken on the menu. But then my bubble burst a bit after they told me they don't serve chicken pieces, only sandwiches. So I got one anyway and it was good. They got the spice down! But kinda expensive, $8 for a chick sand. What they also had was fried chicken skin whish is totally deelish and rare to find. Going back for Chick skin next time!

I feel bad- I really do- only because in River North when something opens up it has to be a hit because it can get a high chance of closing down. It's easy to make an order- and it's a 'healthier' choice with the words of organic. Like most reviews said, Chicken was dry and it's expensive. The guys working there were nice. And the food came out quickly. My husband and I tried it out but I prefer the Chicken Sandwiches at Portillo's. There were a few people that came alone and ate quick and left. I won't be returning...sorry Leghorn.

The place looks like a greasy spoon joint. It's on the lot of a motel. The pictures and reviews on other websites are so beautiful and fooled us into paying a visit. The food is mediocre at best and overpriced. Better off heading for the Chik-fil-A.

soooo, probably should have waited longer to try the place out. They say they open at 7 and I went in at around 7:05 and ordered the chicken and biscuit. It took about 20 minutes when they said about 6 because I was the first one. Then they gave me a cookie for the wait which would have made up for it, I'm understanding, but they forgot the pickles and they forgot the sauce I asked for. 20 minutes wait *and* you get the order wrong. ..and I'm the only order. I'll give them another shot in a few weeks maybe...but now I have a sad little dry sandwich and I'm not happy

My friend was raving about Leghorn so I decided to give it a try and I was not impressed in the least bit. My chicken was overlooked, dry and old tasting. I think they gave me chicken that had been sitting out for god knows how long. I don't recommend it. The only good thing about the place is the decor and the 90's r&b music.

  • Irene H.

The classic pickle-brined chicken was flavorful, tender, juicy and crispy. I loved the buttermilk rancho verde sauce. Got my sandwich on a bun but am excited to try it on a biscuit next time. Sides were good - we tried the umami fries and fried chicken skins.

I was very excited to try out Leghorn since I heard great things about the other location. This moved into the Ohio House space which used to be an old diner. First off, this was a lunchtime meal after a night of drinking. (I was definitely craving something fried) I came here with some coworkers that had been here before. They gave me a little insight as to what to order. I went with the fried breast, Nashville Hot, with ranch verde, add bacon on a buttermilk biscuit and fries. Was this an aggressive order? I think so. My order was ready in about 5 minutes and I took this to go. I thought the overall taste of the fried chicken sandwich was amazing. The buttery biscuit and Nashville hot sauce mixed with the ranch verde sauce was awesome. I kept saying that this was one of the best fried chicken sandwiches I have had in a long time. As for the fries, they were nothing special. Someone else had the Nori fries and they were something different and pretty good. I was not a fan of the ketchup at all. It is supposed to be organic, but tastes weird. (almost like too many spices) I'm not sure I would order this everyday, but let me tell you it sent me into a food coma. (much needed from the night before). Overall, I would give this 3 stars. I would have given this 4, but for a fried chicken sandwich and fries coming out to almost $15 is a little steep in my book. I know this is right downtown, but c'mon man. As for the drink, you should buy one elsewhere. I was going to order a Coke, but for the price tag I opted out. I will be coming back here when in need of some aid from the night before :)

I feel bitter sweet about this place. First sandwich I got there was the awful biscuit was hard chicken was hard and looked burnt in some places. Decided to give it a second try... it tasted just like the first leghorn in Ukrainian village, I was glad they had fixed the mistake and they where serving again the amazing chicken they serve at their other establishment. Today I ordered 2 thighs in a biscuit with spicy mayo on side, chicken tenders with a side of spicy mayo, and chicken skins with spicy mayo. I get 2 chicken sandwich smothered in regular mayo, some really salty and over seasoned chicken skins and 3 CHICKEN BREAST instead of TENDERS (also really salty and over seasoned and over cooked). And only 1 side of spicy mayo!!!!!!!!! How am I gonna eat all this food and share 1 side of spicy mayo with my wife?. The only reason I don't give this spot 1 star is bc I've that their food more than a few times to know what to expect from every bite. I hope someone reads this and fixes the problem and gets some CONCISTENCY going on in the kitchen. I WILL BE BACK, I HOPE NEXT TIME IS AS GOOD AS THE LEGHORN IN UKRANIAN VILLAGE.

Leghorn was totally good. Leghorn Cafe is located in what was previously the really kitschy Ohio House motel. It's a realively lo-fi operation: one cashier, one cook. However, the sandwiches my husband and I ate there one very cold evening were very tasty. The basics: (1) We think the bun is a better option than the biscuit. Don't ask us why: just trust us* (2) It's a little ridiculous that they charge for lettuce. (3) Skip the cheese. (4) The truffle fries are good but maybe not the penultimate. Not as good as umami burger truffle fries. (5) Go with someone who loves you and won't judge you. (6) They run out of stuff a lot--I got the last bun, and the were out of iced tea when we went. (7) The space is real cute. Overall, a great option for the area. *Actually, it's just because the bun holds up a little bit better and is light and fluffy and delicious.

Deeeelicious! Just as i am forever searching for the perfect bbq joint, I am forever searching for some delicious fried chicken. Leghorn has my back! I will say upfront that their "Nashville hot" is indeed not, but it is still quite tasty! It was the right amount of spice for a spicy chicken sandwich (again, nothing like Nashville hot but it's all good). The biscuit? Perfectly tender and more importantly stayed together perfectly to actually serve as a vehicle for chicken in my mouth. None of that crumbly shit like the chickrn place up on Irving Park. Fries are deliciously crisp and salty! The to go order my boyfriend was finally able to eat when i arrived home three hours later was still deliciously edible. Leghorn knows what's what! The only real problem is how tiny this place is. Obviously they get packed for lunch and there's not a lot of room to stand and sit. This place could use a bigger space for sure. But still a win in my book!

  • Ian H.

So glad to see that leghorn has come closer to me! Granted, I'm willing to trek half way across the city for this delicious chicken sandwich. The biscuits are light and fluffy and if you haven't had the caramel blue cheese butter, you're missing out on one of the happiest feelings your mouth could ever experience. The chicken is is always flavorful and make sure you add one of the sauces. Get a basket of fries or some hush puppies and you'll be good to go.

I originally packed my lunch for work, but when a coworker asked me to join him at Leghorn, I could not resist. I ordered a Nashville hot breast on a biscuit with rancho verde sauce and fries. The sandwich was a good size and perfectly spicy. Fries were great and also well seasoned. Staff was super friendly and helped me make a final decision when I was torn between sauce options. Only complaint is that I wish my sandwich had more pickles on it. I love pickles, so that is definitely a personal thing. The space is cozy, with seating for a max of 20 people (that's generous.) I would suggest getting in around 11:30 for lunch, since the people pack it in for the noon lunch rush. Maybe next time, today's packed lunch.

Hot thigh on biscuit was pricey at $10 out the door but worth it! Way way better than chick fil-a for sure.

What a letdown! I needed some fried chicken in my life, and this place did not fit the bill. The server was cordial, but when I ordered the chicken biscuit (from the breakfast menu), he didn't mention that I had a choice of breast or thigh. After I placed the order, I noticed that there was a choice, and when I said so, he said that if a customer doesn't specify, then they serve breast by default. NO, SIR -- you need to ask me "breast or thigh?" on the outset. I chose dark meat thigh (didn't want to chance dry white meat). Anyway, I got the mild because I didn't want to burn my insides with the Nashville spicy. Apparently "mild" means "bland as a mug" -- the biscuit, the chicken meat and coating, and the pickles had almost NO FLAVOR, and I didn't have any seasoned salt to save this sorry excuse. And the chicken was pink in some areas -- it was undercooked! Very disappointed -- but I may go back and try the fries.

I just returned from this place, and felt compelled to write a Yelp review immediately. I enjoyed it that much. I got the thigh with rancho verde sauce (or something close to it) and fries. Fries were very good, as far as your standard quick-fry type goes. The chicken was excellent. Moist, good size, and tasted delicious. I don't have that post-fried chicken feeling you get after eating processed fried chicken. The food was great, and it came out in less than 10 minutes. Place looked very clean. I got the impression the guy preparing the chicken was the owner, so maybe it's best to eat when he is behind the fryer. A few more subjective observations: it's expensive. I don't mind this mostly because it's a totally local joint in an expensive neighborhood, so I'd rather pay the extra $2 than see another chain pop up in area where there are already far too many. The owner seems really committed, friendly, and passionate, so if that stuff matters to you, pay the extra and support a local business. But if you are watching your dollars, then be aware it's a little on the expensive side. There did seem to be a lot of "gourmet" and "artisinal" stuff on the menu, which I am usually skeptical about, but I can say that after eating a hearty helping of fried chicken and French fries, I don't feel sluggish and gross the way I usually do, so whatever adjectives they slap on the sides doesn't really matter to me. I ate at the restaurant, so I can't speak to carry-out, but my hunch based on years of eating, is that this is not the kind of food that travels well, so you'll enjoy it more if you eat it there. Also the menu contains the phrase "We abhor corporate Bullsh*t," so if you have a soft spot for that stuff like I do, it's another thing to appreciate. These are the kinds of places you want in your neighborhood.

I just stopped by here for the first time today. Have to say, one of the best chicken sandwiches I ever had. And I'm not a huge fan of chicken. The Unami fries were also very good.

Can you marry a sandwich? I feel like that should be the next supreme court case because of this place. They are fast, funny, awesome and I want to marry a dark meat chicken sandwich. Try this place. Best fried chicken sandwich in the city. Because of this place Yelp needs to add a 6th star. Great job guys. (on one knee) Will you?

I was excited when I started seeing signs, several months ago, that a Leghorn was opening up here. I'd been meaning to go to the location on Western but I'm never in that area My buddy and I finally went there last night and it was empty. We were the only customers there and I think I know why... A chicken sandwich, fries, and a soda will set you back about $14 before tax. My fries were soggy and the umami style didn't impress. The chicken lacked seasoning and the pickle-brined marinade couldn't be detected. I liked that the chicken is all natural IMHO, $14 for a quick-serve concept is too much. If they are able to make the chicken more flavorful, improve the fries, and keep the price tag under $10 with tax, I think they'd get a crowd.

Y'all, I was so psyched to try this place. Specializes in chicken and biscuits! Bills itself as the anti-Chick-fil-A! Does only a few things but does them well? Well ... I was a little disappointed. I went here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. I opted for their specialty, the fried chicken sandwich, and went through the four choices: breast or thigh (I chose breast); biscuit or bun (biscuit, duh); hot or not (hot); house sauces (I asked for a recommendation and went with buttermilk rancho verde). The chicken was certainly higher quality than any fast-food rival, but it was also a $9 sandwich, so I would expect as much. And the sandwich as a whole (including the breading/fry job on the chicken breast) didn't blow me away. The biscuit was lacking in flakiness and butteryness, the chicken was a little chewy, and the sauce application left it a little soggy. The "hot" was a little too hot, which is my own damn fault, but buyer beware. Fries were pricey and nothing special. Next time I will try the well-reviewed hush puppies. The atmosphere wasn't great -- not much seating room, but I do imagine much of their business is carryout. I'll try it again, perhaps opting for a thigh, a bun, and mixing up my sauce choice, but the first impression didn't amaze me.

After all the hype and out of convenience, my girlfriend and I stopped by to give it a try. I had the thigh with creole honey mustard on a bun, and girlfriend had the breast with kewpie mayo. We tried each others food as we always do when dining out. Both of our sandwiches were overwhelming with the sauce where we couldn't even taste the chicken. The charge extra for lettuce and tomatoes, really?! If you get a bite with a pickle, you will taste nothing but the overwhelming dill pickle and pretty much kill your taste bud for the rest of the sandwich. The $5. shave vegetable slaw was nasty and chemical tasting. I'm giving them 1 star only because their green chile hush puppies didn't suck! Never will I spend another $32. For chicken sandwich lunch for 2! At least not at this place.

  • Mark N.

Please tell the customer that the lettuce, tomato and cheese is extra. Cashiers ask if you want it like it comes on there complimentary, and then charge. Who charges for lettuce and tomato? Very petty. Also, the chicken sandwich lacks flavor. Honey Butter Chicken til the death of me!

I just completed my first Leghorn experience, and I'm feeling just a-ok. I opted for the chicken thigh, not hot, on a biscuit, with rancho verde sauce, plus lettuce, pickle, and cheese. If I had to complete my review based solely on this sandwich, I would easily give it four or five stars. It was absolutely delicious. However, the soggy fries (I ate 'em anyway) and $14 price tag that came along with my meal definitely didn't round out my experience. I was left wanting more - food and money. The portions were satisfactory, but for the amount of money I paid, I should have been able to feed two, which is a shame. I work right down the street from this place and will probably return for their chicken, but that's it, and only when I'm feeling spendy.

I just paid $3.75 for a coffee. A drip coffee. Am I a sucker? Probably. I should have said something when I saw the dollar amount pop up on the register, but I was in shock. Also, I'm pretty sure there is no posted breakfast menu board, so I had no chance to know before ordering how much I was going to shell out to support my caffeine addiction. Granted, it was a large coffee, and I understand it was made with fancy Stumptown beans (on a tangent - why don't they choose from one of the amazing chicago coffee roasters), however, at the end of the day, it was JUST. A. DRIP. COFFEE. It was more expensive than my biscuit, which was $3 and included delicious jam and not as delicious caramel butter (why did you insist on trying to make butter better? It doesn't need to be done! Don't mess with a good thing!) I will be back to Leghorn, because it's only a block away from my work, however, I have learned that most of their menu is more than I want to and/or am willing to pay for food. Granted, I haven't yet tried any of their non-breakfast menu options, because I'm unwilling to even attempt to pay $8 for a biscuit sandwich, when I've seen the size of what can fit on their biscuits. $3 for a biscuit with jam and butter (again, wish it was just plain butter!) is a little high, but sure, I'll go there. $5 and change for a breakfast sandwich with 1 egg and a slice of cheese - maybe, but only when I'm feeling flush. $3.75 for a drip coffee - never again. Ever. In my life.

I have never been to the original location so I'm a first timer. What a sad little sandwich:( they brought it to me with nothing on it. I would not have known that there is suppose to be sauce and a pickle (told you, first timer). Not sure if I will return. The employees were obviously not trained prior to opening, which is a disappointment. Honey Butter Chicken has nothing to worry about!

Ask for Avon Darskdale! Chicken Breast on a Bun with a side of Ranch. The best burger yet!

I was in this morning and my stop was brief, just grabbing some coffee to go, but I liked the look of the place and the food other patrons had ordered looked excellent. Melissa took care of me and she was just lovely. Courteous and professional and kind. I liked our interaction so much I felt compelled to write this review. Someone give that woman a raise and keep doing what you're doing.

The food is really good, but it's too expensive. $3.75 for a drip coffee is a little crazy, especially when bow truss a couple blocks away has better coffee for $3.25.

Forget the rest. LEGHORN CAFE is "hot fried chicken heaven" and will be my favorite breakfast haunt when in Chicago!

I adore this place. I generally don't even like fried chicken, but after seeing a coworker with one of Leghorn's sandwiches, I had to try it, and I've been in there about a dozen times since. The chicken is very lightly breaded, so if you're used to Popeye's "breading with a little chicken" then you might be disappointed. I find the hot to be delicious but almost unbearably hot, while friends who frequently use hot sauce don't seem to notice. The higher quality of their ingredients (and unfortunately the location) justifies the higher price. Staff is always super nice, even during the lunch rush. I'm working my way through the sauces and so far they've all been awesome. Their biscuit with bleu cheese caramel butter is one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth. Their drinks and desserts are way overpriced so I don't buy them, and it's a little crazy to charge for lettuce, but I'll keep coming back anyway. I'm okay with spending a little more of my money on better ingredients and kind service in an establishment that supports local farmers and gay rights.

Two thumbs up for the fried chicken sandwich. The fried chicken biscuit is massive, but delicious. It's well seasoned and crispy but juicy. I definitely recommend the verde ranch dressing. The person at the counter was really friendly and brought our food pretty quickly. They also have good coffee.

Cashier wasn't the nicest, felt like I was annoying him. Ordered Chicken Tenders with Kimchi BBQ Sauce & Unami Fries to go. Received plain fries, plain bbq sauce & overseasoned chicken. Am very disappointed. Even my beau & dog didn't like the chicken. Might try a sandwich one day, but not sure what the hype is all about.

Damn, I wanted to like this place. I have been wanting to try the original location for a while but never got a chance to head out west so I was happy they opened in river north. Dissapointed to say the least, yet i might give it another shot. Here is why. THE BISCUIT. I had just had an amazing chicken biscuit sandwich at The Roost not too long ago and other than just wanting a really good biscuit, it was sort of an apples to apples thing. As I have read with other reviews, I think I got a stale old biscuit that was reheated poorly. It was so chewy, that it really just put off the whole sandwich. I am willing to give it another shot, but only with the bun. The service was very friendly, the price is relatively high (considering all the charges for any extra ingredients, including lettuce or ketchup), and thigh meat i had was OK. I know food costs are high, but if you cant keep a biscuit fresh you have to throw it out unless you know how to properly reheat it without killing it. otherwise, just dont offer it! as much as I might be willing to try it again (on a bun next time), it was pretty empty and the biscuit was so offputting, that I am not sure if it will survive that high river north rent for much longer.

Ridiculously expensive, horribly small portions, messed up order ("cheddar tots" implies the presence of CHEDDAR), long wait time when I was the only patron, this is a sorry excuse for a restaurant. Yes, this location just opened, but the flagship restaurant has been around for a while, they should know better.

Great lunch! Simple small menu with juicy chicken and gourmet sauces. Fries are wonderful! Staff is courteous and generous :)

I don't know what idiot would give this place less than 4 stars. The chicken is great. Biscuits are soft and doughy. Further indulged and got an "everything" cookie -- m&m, chocolate chips, white chocolate, and a bunch of other stuff I can't even remember. Mouthgasm all around. I come here every time I'm in Chicago .

This place gets a 4 over a 3 because it just opened and needs to work a few kinks out, but it totally deserves a shot. I would definitely recommend the breast over the thigh, the not over the hot, and maybe skip the cheese on your chicken, unless that's your thing. The rancho verde or whatever sauce is preeeettty good, and they make some bangin' catsup. Also both biscuit and bun are equally delicious in my opinion. I like this place a lot. It's super tiny though so prob best to get your good to go.

13$ for a biscuit sandwich with a coffee! Should of just went across the street to McDonald's for breakfast. The sandwich was not worth it. They charge 2$ for meat otherwise all you have is a biscuit with poached egg sandwich for 5$

Disappointed. After reading great reviews and having my eye on the place since they opened I finally made it over there for breakfast. I am a chicken expert, chicken is my food and sadly after eating a portion of this sandwich I must disagree with most reviewers. The biscuit was light but not as tasty as I have experienced elsewhere. I found the chicken uneventful. The breading is very thick and almost a fatty-like substance. Sadly, I believe they may have just reheated a breast from yesterday and over-sauced the sandwich so I wouldn't detect that. (Yes, I asked for a little creole mustard, what I got was a biscuit swimming in it.) Personally, I don't recommend them for breakfast, however, they may do better when the food is fresh.

All but 1 of the negative reviews had nothing to do with the food (so dumb.). I just had the spicy chicken thigh on a bun with lettuce and tomato and buttermilk rancho verde sauce. It was very good. Give it a try.

I've been wanting to try Leghorn's original location so I was glad the Cafe opened in my area. We stopped there for lunch the other week and ordered the hot chicken breast on a bun and biscuit. I am more partial to the biscuit and thought both the chicken and biscuit were really good. 10 times better than Chick Fil A. If you like your sandwich hot - I would recommend it. I do agree with the other reviewers who say "who charges for lettuce and tomato?" It's a little poor on Leghorn's part. And the cashier should DEFINITELY tell you that it's an extra charge. We got the Rancho verde sauce on the sandwiches and really for how large the chicken breast is, it was hard to taste the sauce. I would almost recommend ordering it on the side and dipping the sandwich in it. We tried the Unami fries and those were a large disappointment. They were basic fries - a little limp - with some seasoning salts on them. I wouldn't recommend those at all. Yes - it's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for in this neighborhood. It's a very small area and only seats about 10 or so, but yes, I will be back.

Just a simple sandwich. Worth every fat and calorie. Ordered the thigh hot on a biscuit. Just simply delicious. Biscuit was just amazing. $9 for a fried chicken sandwich is kinda pricey so that's why the 4 stars. This is a must try if you like your fried chicken and biscuits. Will definitely stop by anytime we are in the area.

Great friggin sandwich! I am not sure what these other reviewers are talking about, I was worried after reading reviews because I love Leghorn Chicken but these sandwiches tasted better if possible! If you want $.99 chicken nuggets go elsewhere! If you appreciate food and what goes into your body (good fast food vs, bad fast food!) then this is a go-to place. I work in the area and am sooo happy to have this option now both where I work and where I live! Miss the condoms and loud music of course but the food rocks. I look forward to getting up early enough to try the breakfast fare one day! They really need to think about staying open late night on weekends to serve the Hubbard crowd after drinkin. At least until 2am, the Rock and Roll McDonalds would be a ghost town

On a cold winter's day I wandered into Leghorn because it just smelled so damn good outside. Went with a fried chicken on a biscuit- moist, tender, but the biscuit still held up enough to support the chicken. Not light on the waistline (or wallet... $8 for the sandwich), but worth an occasional visit!

By far the best chicken sandwich in the area! I've been to the other location several times, and here twice already. Great and friendly service, and quick made-to-order food. Love the spicy chicken. Thank you, Leghorn for opening downtown. So few really good options for a quick bite. Also, parking at the Ohio House lot is a big plus. Makes it easy to stop in. See you soon!

First time today and I definitely will be back (maybe tonight!). Had a mild breast on a biscuit with kale salad. It was soooooo good.

Coffee is $3.75. Biscuits were cheaper than the coffee! Just silly. Brunch ends at 10:30am on Sunday. Also silly. Owner was there but didn't talk to customers. Should be greeting everyone and making sure customers are happy. Not smart for a brand new place. Lastly, basically no options for vegetarians. Should rethink that.

Place was empty and waited over 15 minutes for an 11$ breakfast sandwich and coffee. Food was decent, but won't be coming back

Our first visit to this little spot today and Certainly not our last! Food was delicious, fresh and tasty! My hubby had a hot chicken breast sandwich and I had a not thigh sandwich. We both had them on biscuits. We also got a serving of the jalapeno hush puppies to split. Food was awesome!
